Alterhuman Things #4
Do any of y'all have a tendency to nest?? I have this weird thing where the only way I can get comfy to sleep is if I'm in my "nest" which consists of all of my favorite plushies, hoodies/blankets I love, and sometimes hoodies my favorite people have loaned me. Anyone else nest?? Repost with what your nests consist of!!

i think having watched avatar as a child just altered my brain, especially as a neurodivergent/autistic kid.
i would hiss at any and everything that made me angry or annoyed, and pin my ears (i learned i could move my actual ears, too). my tail would flick. i'd call my uncle with na'vi cries and we'd greet each other with the sign.
in my head, the idiots in class were "skxawng."
i was supposed to be much taller, bluer, and more agile. i should have learned to ride pa'li and ikrans, learned how to scare off nantang, learn the plants we can just pluck and eat in the forest.

i miss home, i miss the floating mountains, i miss the atmosphere and the wind in my face, i miss the dirt between my toes.
now in the real world, i do many of these. i love what i can do, but sometimes i just wish it was pandora, really home.

I went to the Animal kingdom today and rode the Flight of Passage ride for the first time ever, and I had a very emotional experience while doing so.
I am now very aware that I am very familiar with human culture and at times almost admire their effeciency, but I think went around the same as the sarentu where they leave the humans and only associate with those who are in harmony with pandora so to speak. I made a bond with an orange and yellow Ikran, with black and gray kuru. I think her spots were a very almost black blue or purple.
The ride was so much fun, and they had pads and such on the machine to make it feel like you were sitting on the ikran and you could feel it *breathing*
It was an almost overwhelming moment
So freaking happy :D

Hi hello local recently awakened na'vi (not gonna get into how atm) pretty much just wanting to share my experiences! Ever since I first saw avatar (last year lol) I've felt a connection to na'vi. But something never felt quite right. They felt... off. Almost uncanny. I've realized after seeing WotW this is mostly because I'm a sea na'vi, but it still doesnt fit quite right. Basically I was wondering if you have any similar feelings about them? Or any advice to figure this out? -Kiruk'ow
I don't really have similar feelings toward anything - most dragons are far enough off that they just fully register as a different species to me - but my best advice for figuring it out is just... play with it. Doodle and see what feels right (or if you have phantom shifts, what seems to match them best), mess around with ideas, and don't let yourself get too stressed about it.
It's possible you're a non-canon Na'vi from a different Pandora than the one shown in the movies, close enough for them to resonate and be the easiest shorthand for explaining to others but far enough to notice the difference. It's also entirely possible you are from that Pandora (or, one basically identical to it, anyway), and are just of a clan we haven't seen onscreen - it doesn't seem strange to me that there'd be marked variation between different clans (even within a single species, assuming you're like me and subscribe to the theory that the reef people and forest people are two different species of Na'vi in the way that Neanderthals and us are two different species of human).
Just give yourself time. You'll figure yourself out. Trying to rush it will just end up leading to you making mistakes and creating tricks of the mind to mislead yourself with. Just live with yourself and the answers will come in time. :3 Eywa ngahu, ma tsmuk!

kaltxì {hello}. oeru syaw spxuki {im called spxuki}.
hey, jarheads! you can call me spxuki, or simply just my kin species. I don't actually speak fluent or even good na'vi, but i spiced up this blog for all my friends who do.
this blog is just for posting crap about avatar and my kins! my euphoria, the dysphoria, maybe artwork and definingly photos and gifs. my user stands for "tsaheyl si eywa'eveng/eyweveng" {bonded with pandora/"eywa's child"}.
im super queer, transmasc and gay. i use he/it pronouns. im an adult fyi! im like super mentally ill, sorry not sorry.
im cringe, im a otherkin/therian, pet&age regressor, & a furry. why are you on this blog if you aren't, seriously. and speaking of...
im a forest na'vi (not omatikaya but of similar look; think more anurai (+ swin'ara)), aswell as being an ikran {banshee} and palulukan {thanator}. pa'li {dire horse} are a kith of mine.
DNI: basic critirial (-phobic, -philes, -ist). endo/non trauma "systems" & supporters. trans exclusion, terfs. trolls / instigators. creeps & bigots.
feel free to send asks in "tìpawm" {question}. my only tag is going to be #tsaheylxsi as of now!
hayalovay {until next time}. eywa ngahu {eywa be with you}.

I’ve thought a lot about the meaning of my Na’vi name over the years since I learned it.
Obviously this has been... a process. Past lives are already a mess to sort through what is memory and what is speculation, and honestly who can really tell the difference 100%? I know in my heart that my name is Tewnìn; how I know is something I really think only I could fully understand, just as anyone else’s spiritual experiences are their own.
So how do I know what my name means?
I feel that Na’vi names are a combination of several common, repeated names, and ones that are given by the parents that hold a special meaning to them. Mine, I think, is the latter. My name most likely comes from “txew” (edge, border, limit, end etc) and “nìn” (look at). It’s not a name that translates easily into English. The best I had for a long time was “looks to the end/edge” which is a rather awkward translation and missing cultural context.
Upon a loooot of thinking & meditation, I think I’ve found a better meaning. To the Na’vi, there exists no solid beginning/end to anything, be it time, life, or whatever. Everything exists as a cycle: one life ends to feed another, time keeps going on, souls live on within Eywa. So for my name, I am not looking at a true end to anything (though I suppose the “border” translation is the closest here). My name, as I understand it, means “looks to the transition between states.” It sounds like my parents hoped that I would actively try to see how parts of our world changed into one another. And as a tiretu/possible Tsahìk, and as part of the Tawkami who are filled with scientists, it’s a very fitting name.

Hello followers so something that you may not know about me is that I'm decidedly alterhuman (that's the larger community that otherkin are apart of) but not entirely sure exactly what I am. One thing I have down is that I'm Na'vikin (yes, James Cameron's Avatar people).
Relevant detail: a lot of alterhumans will experience different kinds of "shifts" where they feel a lot more like their ID. In my case, I experience phantom shifts where I'll feel like my body changes to become more like the Na'vi.
Another relevant detail: a moment ago I had the incredibly vivid sensation of wings. (Which Na'vi do not have) but I *also* was feeling my tail.
So. Uh. Yeah.
