Helloooo farmer friends!! So last night my friend @pavusprince mentioned how she doesn’t understand the toothpaste mint chocolate chip ice cream comparison and that got me thinking!! Let’s talk about food!!
Does your farmer like mint chocolate ice cream? Does it taste like toothpaste? Are they neutral, or do they hate it?
During the summer does your farmer visit Alex’s ice cream stand? What flavor/treat do they buy? What’s their least favorite flavor?
What is one treat your farmer will ALWAYS have in their home? Is it healthy or unhealthy?
If your farmer was a snack item what would they be? (It cannot be a food that could be eaten like a meal, but it may be a dessert) Here’s some examples: chips, cookies, M&ms, Twinkies, crackers, bubblegum, lollipops, etc
What’s your farmer’s comfort food, favorite meal, and least favorite meal?
What’s something they will NEVER eat?
What do they cook if they know they will have a guest over?
If the town’s potluck didn’t matter so much, what ingredient would they take? And what food would they put at an event table if you had to bring something?
Finally, if your farmer was real, what would YOU give them to eat.

Sweet As
Fandom: MCU Captain America/Avengers
Summary: Natasha didn’t know she would like soft things but SHIELD surprises her in a number of ways– this time, with you.
Quick facts: Romance – Natasha Romanoff/Reader – female!Reader
Warnings: Fluff, Reader is a softie, Natasha is a softie at heart, Christmas fic, references to baking/candy making (I’m hungry), set pre-Avengers
Words: 2218
A/N: Friendly reminder that I occasionally glance at canon and then tend to throw it out the window, so sorry if characterizations don’t match. I’m keeping the “MCU Captain America/Avengers” for fandom because it’s in that universe but in my head this is set in a nebulous time where Natasha has been working for SHIELD for a little while but she’s still a little wary/kinda feral. But she’s still the Natasha in my head and I Love Her. This thing went places I didn’t expect but I am very pleased I finished it before Christmas ( ̄ω ̄) Happy whatever you celebrate, even if all you celebrate is ‘having a good Wednesday.’ I hope tomorrow is most excellent. /hugs
   ~
“So what are you angling for?”
Natasha barely looks askance at Clint, still sour on how he handled that truck during the mission, but he just nods in your direction and Natasha turns her head back to where she was already looking before Clint’s nonsensical question. You’re bobbing your head to Christmas music and typing away at the front desk of this field office that few other agents like to be stuck at– except around Christmas. She doesn’t get it. It isn’t that far from headquarters, and as far as receptionists go you’re much better at your job year-round than anyone in DC. And she does like talking to you. You’re nothing like she would expect from SHIELD, and while Natasha is fine with curt and formal, sometimes she likes being welcomed. You scratch that itch.
“It’s holiday baking season,” Clint says and leans in closer, but not too close to make Natasha uncomfortable. She might forgive his terrible driving someday. “So what were you trying to sweet-talk her into making?”
“I wasn’t trying to ‘sweet-talk’ anything. I was making polite conversation with someone who doesn’t crash cars into houses.”
“Aw, you can tell me. Come on, what’s your favorite?”
Natasha bristles. You’re completely oblivious to all of this, now too far away to hear the quiet conversation while you fiddle with something at a table on the other side of the room, and the guard in the corner looks bored. Good, because it’s going to be one of those conversations with Clint, she can feel it, and she’s just too tired; she just wants to get chewed out by Fury already and be officially done with this mission.
Clint leans back, resting his head in his hands. “I hope she makes the peppermint bark again; that was so good.”
Natasha’s stomach grumbles. She sighs.
“Ooo, were you here for the Ooey Gooey Holiday Bars? And the Santa Snack Mix. But you seem like you’d be into the classics. Were you trying for the sugar cookies?”
“I wasn’t trying for anything.”
“That smile you gave her totally betrayed you. Is it the homemade eggnog? Oh, but you like chocolate! Fudge maybe? But which kind?”
Natasha may not be a native speaker, but she’s damn good at a variety of languages and she always knows when she’s being made fun of. It rankles. Thankfully sometimes Clint has some self-preservation. “I’m sorry Nat,” he says and scoots away a little. “I was just trying to figure out what we might get next; that’s all.”
Natasha sits primly. “You’ll have to ask her.”
Indeed, the next moment you come over, bearing steaming hot mugs of sweetly-smelling chocolate. “I’m sorry about the wait,” you say. “I’m sure you’ll be seen very soon. In the meantime I hope this keeps you warm.”
Natasha doesn’t know what you’re on about– it is incredibly warm in this office, especially with your own body heat so close to add to the mix– but she takes the cup with a polite “thank you.”
Someone has to be polite, since Clint takes a gulp and then lets out a wholly inappropriate moan. “Is this the homemade stuff?”
“Straight from the Tupperware,” you say proudly. “I hope it’s good; if it isn’t I do have some powdered mix.”
Clint gives you such a severe look that actually shocks Natasha– she’s never seen it before– but your laugh puts her back at ease. “Well, hopefully it helps; I heard you guys had a rough ride in.” You look at Natasha and bite your lip nervously. “Do you like it?”
“It’s very good,” Natasha says and takes a sip. It’s hot, creamy, and does indeed do wonders for the urge to flip Clint into a wall.
You smile wide and you lean in close to whisper, “I gave you extra marshmallows.” Then you wink and go right back to your desk. You trip just before you make it into your chair but you slip into it and start typing again like nothing happened. Natasha smiles into her cup.
Clint is uncharacteristically silent for several seconds before he says, “Is my hearing aid still fritzing or did she give you extra marshmallows?”
Natasha’s smile curls into something even better.
~
“I think she likes you.”
The sparring session is over and Clint is lying on his back, breathing heavily. Their dressing-down hadn’t been as bad as Natasha had thought it would be, but the end of it had left them both still a little wired and so they had come to the gym to burn off the lingering anxiety.
Natasha is looking forward to crawling into bed soon, but Clint is looking at her expectantly. She eyes him warily as she sips her water, but the nonsensical statement is not followed by anything resembling an intent to attack. Once she’s had enough time to think, she pulls the bottle from her lips. “Who?”
“You know.” Clint raises his eyebrows and says your name. “No one, and I mean no one, ever gets extra marshmallows.”
Natasha rolls her eyes and Clint springboards to his feet. “No, really!” he insists and sits down on the bench with his own water bottle, practically choking on half the contents before he says, “Christmas treats are serious business around here and she always makes sure everything is ridiculously fair.”
“Stop being an idiot,” Natasha says, in vain.
“I’m not– oh, hey Bobbi!” Clint says and waves.
Agent Morse sees him and turns from her path to the locker rooms to approach them, a workout bag slung over her shoulder. “Barton. Romanoff.”
“Did you get some of that hot chocolate?” Clint asks.
“Of course. I think this was the best batch yet.” Bobbi’s eyes glaze over for a moment and then she snaps back to the professional Natasha is used to. “You’re lucky you got any; she had to defend your share with her life.”
“Some of us are luckier than others,” Clint says. “Natasha got extra marshmallows.”
Bobbi scoffs, but she looks between the two of them and her expression pinches into something overly sincere. “Are you serious?”
“Morse!” Hill calls out as she strides in, making all three of them flinch. “Why aren’t you changed?”
“Romanoff got extra marshmallows.”
Hill’s simmering displeasure dissipates and she whips her head to stare at Natasha. “Seriously?”
“They’re marshmallows,” Natasha says, wondering what is in the air and if she can avoid catching it.
“They’re handmade,” Clint says. “I’m not joking when I say holiday sweets are Serious Business around here. Didn’t you wonder why Fury is stationed here for the next month?”
Natasha throws her hands up, snatches her bag, and turns on her heel. “I’m going to bed; goodnight.”
When she’s almost out the front door, you’re cleaning up your station. “Goodnight Agent Romanoff!” you say.
Natasha…isn’t as annoyed anymore, so she turns and smiles at you. “Good night.”
Sure, you look a little…flustered…but Natasha assumes she still looks ragged from her workout and chalks it up to that.
~
But it doesn’t stop.
When she’s next making small talk with you and you give her a small bag of chocolates and Clint gives her a ‘knowing’ look, she wants to kick something.
When Agent May stops in and sees Natasha’s ‘stocking’ on the wall with everyone else’s, and then looks Natasha up and down before sharing a look with Morse and Hill, Natasha wants to strangle someone.
When Fury sees Natasha hastily stuffing another small cellophane-wrapped treat into her bag and then wordlessly hands Natasha a pamphlet on SHIELD’s workplace romance policy before turning and walking away, she wants to yell.
When you hand her a mug of hot chocolate with one large heart-shaped marshmallow floating on top, she…
…she doesn’t know what she wants to do.
~
Natasha is killing time on a punching bag, waiting for word from medical, when someone enters the room. She stills, tense and ready for whatever she’s going to get from Fury or Hill, but the footsteps are uneven and hesitant.
Natasha turns and watches you as you carefully walk across the mats. Natasha doesn’t know what she’s going to say– this is not the right time for this conversation– but apparently it doesn’t matter how unprepared and out of sorts she is because you’re leaning in and–
“So, um, don’t tell Fury, but Morales is going to text you when Clint is out of surgery and you’ll have ten minutes to run over and see him.”
Natasha blinks and stares as you pull back, fidgeting with your hands again. No amount of sweet-talking or threatening had done her any good, so… “How?”
You look elsewhere when you say, “I promised him a tray of something he really, really likes,” but you look at her resolutely when you add, “But I’m sworn to secrecy so don’t even ask.”
Even Coulson had lightly made fun of how Morales had lusted after the pan of butterscotch-something-or-other bars, so she can guess. However. “Why?” Natasha asks. “Why are you hel– why are you so interested in me?”
You look surprised for a brief moment. And then you shrug. Natasha had not expected that, but she listens when you start speaking. “You laugh at my dumb puns and you made a “Terminator” joke that made Agent May threaten to kill you and you fixed my computer better than IT ever could. You’re smart and brave and strong and, yes, pretty, and I like you and I want to know you better.”
“I’m a killer,” Natasha reminds you.
“This is SHIELD,” you remind her. “I wish I couldn’t say so, but everyone here is at least a little twisted and broken.” You shrug again. “It’s one of the reasons I started bringing in goodies at Christmas, actually. If you don’t have anyone or get stuck at work for a long time this can be a strange and lonely time of year, even if you don’t celebrate.” You squint. “Maybe even especially if you don’t.”
You look at her again, a strange mix of confident and uncertain. “I like you, and even if you don’t like me like that it’s okay and I’d still like to know you better. If…if you’re comfortable with that.”
Natasha has been up for almost 26 hours straight now and has spent five of those hours escaping a compound full of armed enemies. “I’ll have to think about it.”
You nod and step back. “Oh– and for the record,” you say. “Clint has always been very nice to me and I think he’d like to know you visited. Just…full disclosure.”
Natasha nods, but the second she moves her head is the second her phone buzzes in her pocket. You jump back and Natasha turns towards the door, already plotting the fastest path to medical, but she takes one step and then swings back over to you– and presses a gentle kiss to your cheek.
“Thank you,” Natasha says, takes one glance at your bewildered, dreamy expression, and then strides out of the gym, now with a plan and steadily growing sense of peace. After she checks on Clint, she’s going to go home. She would go to sleep right away but…well, the pamphlet Fury gave her is still on her desk, and she has some reading to do before bed.
~
A few days later Natasha walks into the office during the dead time in the afternoon, when the guard is switching and on the outside of your reception area. You scramble to cover up your phone at the clicking of her heels, but when you see it’s just her you exhale deeply and smile.
Natasha smiles back, and walks over to drop the workplace romance policy on your desk. You go still and Natasha says, “I think, if we’re going to discuss this, then you should probably read this first.”
The way you hunch over the desk is a tell that she finds almost delightful. “I already, uh…I already…”
“You already read it.” Natasha leans over your desk and lowers her face conspiratorially. “That’s a little presumptuous, isn’t it?”
Anyone else might stammer, but you laugh. “I just like to be prepared,” you say and prop your chin in your hand.
“I can respect that,” Natasha says solemnly. “Have you thought about where you’re going to take me to dinner?”
Your eyes go wide. “Yes!”
“Good,” Natasha says and grabs your phone to put in her number. “Text me the address and we’ll meet there at seven. I have a job to do but I shouldn’t be late.”
“Okay. Okay! Seven, I will–” You clear your throat and compose yourself. “I’ll see you at seven. Nothing too fancy by the way, just kind of nice, and– oh, this is going to sound so stupid, but, uh you don’t– you don’t have any food allergies, do you?”
Natasha suppresses a laugh. “No, I don’t.” She leans back in closer to you. “I do have one request though.”
Your eyes are wide again as you wait for her to speak. Natasha reaches for your face and sweeps her fingers across your cheek. “Make sure it has good dessert,” she says and lightly tucks your chin. She smiles, and it feels nice. It feels real. “I’m in the mood for something sweet.”

Late Night, Early Morning
Tumblr media
A repost of my Reddie meet-cute. Wanted to post it properly on here.
Summary:
It’s 7am. A young man has just opened his coffee shop for the day. At the same time, another young man is on his way home from a night out with his friend, and he’s really craving a donut with pink frosting.
Word count: 2900 Pairing: Reddie
READ ON AO3 HERE
It was 5 minutes to 7am, and Eddie Kaspbrak was gulping down his black coffee in a desperate attempt to get his tired eyes to stay open. The coffee shop was cleaned and ready for opening, the cake disk; usually overflowing with cute pastries, was yet to be filled with the cakes he was still preparing in the backroom. Chocolate cupcakes, powdered donuts filled with strawberry-jam and slices of marble cake were only a few of the pastries he was working on.
Baking was one of Eddie’s favorite things to do, and he had just finished a round of donuts, newly dipped in strawberry or chocolate frosting. He had even gotten up extra early to make them. They always sold well in the morning, but because of the long time they took to make, he didn’t do it that often. He just really felt like making them today.
As he was finding his ‘coffee tunes’-playlist to play on the speakers, the lock of the door clicked, and in walked his co-worker (and best friend), Stan.
“Good morning.”
“Good morning”, Eddie replied. “I was starting to get worried. We’re opening in…” he checked the clock above the milk-steamer, “uhm, now. Just leave the door open.”
He scurried out from behind the counter, and rushed to turn the “sorry we’re closed”-sign to say “come in, we’re open”. Then, he opened his box of chalk, picking out the pink one, and thoroughly scribbled down the daily note on the sidewalk sign before dragging it outside.
The sky was painted in a beautiful pink and red light, and Eddie took a moment to breathe as he felt joy bubbling inside his chest. He couldn’t help the toothy grin forcing its way onto his lips, feeling truly happy.
“I think you need to update your coffee-playlist, Eddie. We’ve been listening to the same boring songs on repeat for like a month now, and I’ve had it”, Stan said when Eddie walked back inside. He already had his apron on, and was frowning at the computer.
Owning a coffee shop was something Eddie had dreamt of doing for years. He looked at his still newly opened coffee shop he had decorated himself with cute lights and artsy paintings, and he looked at Stan standing behind the counter, skipping some of the songs playing, and he sighed happily.
***
It was 5 minutes past 7am, and Richie Tozier was making his way down the street, still full of energy from the night out (and also still a little tipsy). He was walking a few steps in front of Bill who was babbling about how crazy it was that there were people on their way to work at the same time as they were just making their way home. Richie nodded his head in agreement. They had already passed a couple bus stops, receiving judgmental looks from middle-aged men in suits.
Richie was exceptionally happy with how the night had been. Even though he and Bill shared an apartment, they hadn’t really had much time to spend together in a while. They used to do so much, and now that Bill was studying literature and Richie was working at the local radio station, their schedules always clashed. They had finally found a weekend where they both had time, and they jumped at the chance to hang out together immediately.
It had been Richie’s idea to go out drinking, and even though Bill wasn’t too happy about it at first, he sure was happy after scoring a cute girl’s number at the club. Richie was the best wingman in the world. He had truly patted himself on the back for that one.
“Holy fuck, I’m craving cake right now.”
“Richie, you’ve buh-been craving food fuh-for three hours now, w-we have food at huh-huh-home.”
“No, Bill. Not just food. I need something sweet! I don’t know, candy, cake, frosting, ice cream, sugar cubes, anything.” Richie was waving his hands in the air, the desire for sugar burning inside his chest.
Bill sighed next to him. “Well, thuh-there is puh-puh-probably something at huh-huh-home you can eat? Puh-please let’s g-go home, I’m so tired.”
Richie looked at him, resisting the urge to fall down to the ground dramatically. “How can you even say that, Bill? Are you truly denying me the sweet taste of a donut right now? Are you sincerely saying I should instead eat whatever dry crackers we have at home? How dare you?”
Bill rolled his eyes. “S-stop being so duh-dramatic.”
Richie ignored the comment as he suddenly stopped. He sighed intensely, regretting the words he had uttered just seconds earlier, because “fuck, now I want donuts”, he whined. “You know those donuts with pink frosting? Holy shit, I need one of those right now, or else I’m actually going to die.”
“Home, Ri-Richie.”
“Fine”, Richie sulked.
They continued walking, this time Richie a few steps behind Bill. He really didn’t want the dry crackers they had at home as a snack before bed.
“How hard is it to make donuts?”
Bill shrugged. “I don’t know. Puh-probably not that huh-hard, even though I th-think you’d muh-mess it up anyways.”
Richie gasped, clutching a hand to his chest. “How can my best friend betray me like this?”
Then he looked around, and that’s when he saw it. “Oh my god.”
Just down the street, only a couple blocks from their apartment, stood a cute little coffee shop, and it was open. Richie frantically grabbed Bill’s at arm to stop him from walking. “I can’t believe this.”
Bill looked at where Richie’s gaze was locked and he tugged his arm away. “Richie, please, I ruh-really want to go home.”
“Give me five minutes.” He started walking before Bill could protest more, and stopped when he got to the sidewalk sign.
It said ‘We have donuts’ with small pink hearts drawn around it in chalk.
“They have fucking donuts!” Richie screamed at Bill who was still on the other side of the street. “It’s literally destiny, Bill, come on!”
“Okay, just huh-hush, people are sluh-sluh-sleeping.”
Richie took another quick look at the sign and the pink hearts before they walked in, muttering “cute” under his breath.
***
It was 7:20am when they got their first customers. Stan was cleaning the tables, and Eddie was just finished slicing up the marble cake.
First walked in a fairly attractive guy, tall with auburn hair and pretty eyes. The one thing Eddie noticed, though, was that this man was definitely not on his way to work. He looked dead tired as if he hadn’t slept all night.
Then entered another guy, tall and lanky, dressed in black jeans and a denim jacket. Eddie had to hold back a tiny gasp when he saw the dark curls framing the guy’s pale face, because damn it if this guy wasn’t Eddie’s type exactly.
The guy was smiling wide, talking loudly to his friend, and the shop was suddenly much more lively than it had been just seconds ago.
Eddie cleared his throat. “Good morning!”
The two guys looked up at the same time, both looking a little caught off guard as if they hadn’t realized there were going to be people there.
The guy with curly hair locked eyes with Eddie, and Eddie smiled shyly.
For a moment, the guy just stared at him, eyes wide behind his glasses. “Holy shit”, he whispered softly.
Eddie furrowed his brows in confusion, smile faltering just the tiniest bit. “Uhm.”
The guy shook his head as if coming out of a trance, clearing his throat. “Ah, uh, y-yes, good morning.” He was blushing, an embarrassed smile taking over his features. Cute.
“Is there anything I can help you with?” Eddie asked, walking over to the cash register.
The guy came closer, his smile suddenly a lot bolder. “How about your number, cutie?” His tone was flirtatious, catching Eddie off guard.
He heard Stan scoff from where he was washing tables.
It took a couple seconds before Eddie managed to regain his composure. “Well, uhm”, he laughed humorlessly, feeling warmth spread across his face. He frowned, not quite believing the situation he was in. Was he actually being hit on at 7:20 in the morning? “I’m sorry, but that’s not for sale.” He raised his eyebrows. “And actually, I’m not really sorry for that.”
The guy sighed and put his hands on his hips. “Well then, I guess I’ll have to settle for one of those donuts.”
“With strawberry or chocolate frosting?”
“Definitely strawberry.”
“Right, that will be 2 dollars then.”
Eddie could feel the guy’s eyes looking him over as he walked over to the cake disk. He put the donut carefully into a paper bag before returning to the register. There was a 5-dollar bill lying there, and the guy was smiling at him, showing off his semi-crooked teeth. “Keep the change, cutie.”
Eddie couldn’t help but fall a little bit in love with that smile. The guy obviously had lots of charm and charisma and was probably a natural flirt too. Having way too much pride and being the stubborn man that he was, Eddie was not going to fall for it. The guy might be cute, but he did look like a mess. His hair was chaotic, his eyes tired and just like his friend, he looked like he had been up all night.
Eddie smiled timidly while handing over the paper bag. “Thank you.”
When grabbing the bag, the guy brushed his fingers over Eddie’s, evidently on purpose, and Eddie cursed himself when the touch left tingles prickling on his skin.
“You know, I think it was destiny that we met.” The guy had his elbow on the counter, his chin resting in his palm, eyes never leaving Eddie’s face.
Eddie raised his eyebrows dejectedly. “Yeah? How so?”
“Because…” the guy raised his other hand, pointing his finger in the air as if trying to make a point. “Literally not even 10 minutes ago, me and Bill here”, he pointed to his friend, “we were walking down the street, and talking about how much we wanted donuts. And suddenly, out of nowhere, your cute little shop pops up with a sign saying you have donuts.” The guy smiled wider. “I think that’s fucking destiny.”
“I think that’s just called a coincidence.” Eddie was trying his hardest not to sound mean. He was in his work place, and took his job very seriously. Treating costumers nicely was very important for the shop’s reputation. This guy was making it very fucking difficult.
The guy just kept smiling despite the rejecting tone to Eddie’s voice. “No, I don’t think so. What I think, is that I just met the love of my life.”
Eddie couldn’t help the surprised sound escaping his throat. His face was probably as red as the sunrise outside.
“Richie,” the other guy said. “Can we puh-please go huh-home now?”
Richie just raised his hand at the guy, still looking at Eddie. “Just a moment.”
The guy, clearly frustrated, rubbed his hands over his fatigued face. “You said five muh-minutes.”
Richie turned around then. “Bill, if this was the other way around, I would wingman the hell out of you right now. Are you really trying to ruin this for me?” It seemed like he was trying to whisper even though the volume was very much the same.
Eddie looked over at Stan, and Stan was smiling at him amusedly, clearly entertained by the situation. Traitor.
“We’ve buh-been awake all n-night, the alcohol is out of our suh-system, and you’ve guh-got your donut.” The guy, Bill, was looking ready to pass out, and Eddie felt sorry for him.
“Wait, you’ve been out drinking?” Stan said from where he was now standing behind the cake disk. “Who goes out to party on a Sunday?”
“Irrelevant”, Richie said, looking back at Eddie. “What matters is that I’ve found my soulmate.”
Eddie scoffed, cocking his head to the side. “You don’t even know me.”
Richie shrugged. “Well, let me take you out then so I can get to know you.” The tone of his voice was much more sincere than flirtatious now, and Eddie was angry with himself for believing it.
He was struggling to find a response, not really wanting to reject the guy anymore. He was very cute and charming, and once again, exactly the kind of guy Eddie would usually fall for.
While Eddie was thinking over his words, Richie opened the paper bag and took a bite of the donut. Every word Eddie was forming in his brain flew out the window as the guy moaned while chewing and looked at Eddie in shock.
“Did you make this?”
Eddie nodded, his mouth slightly open. “Uhm, yes.”
The guy stared at him, his lips coated in pink frosting. “Marry me.”
Eddie jerked backwards while Stan laughed.
“No seriously, we’re perfect together. I love donuts.” He pointed to himself. “And you”, he pointed at Eddie, “make the best fucking donuts I have ever tasted.” He started gesturing between the two of them. “If that’s not soulmates right there, then I don’t know.”
“It takes more than love for donuts to be soulmates, so no, I don’t think you know”, Eddie said.
“Ouch.” The guy placed a hand over his heart, laughing slightly.
Eddie couldn’t help but smile back at him.
“At least tell me your name then.”
Eddie had to consider for a second, but this guy was slowly winning him over. “It’s Eddie.”
“Eddie.” The guy nodded. “Beautiful name for a beautiful man.”
Stopping the blush from spreading over his cheeks was practically impossible at this point. “Thanks”, he answered softly.
“Has this coffee shop always been here? Because I don’t think I’ve ever seen it before.”
“We opened just a couple weeks ago actually.”
“That’s really great, I hope it stays.” Richie smiled genuinely. “These donuts really deserve some true recognition.”
“Thanks, we hope so too.” Eddie smiled back.
“Well, I guess we’re off. Time to get this guy to bed”, Richie said, putting an arm around Bill who looked half asleep.
“Fuh-finally”, Bill yawned.
Richie dropped his arm from Bill’s shoulders as they started walking towards the door, and panic rose in Eddie’s chest. There was absolutely no guarantee he would ever see this Richie again, and despite his efforts of not giving into this guy’s flirtatious behavior, he really didn’t want him to leave. Seeing Richie walk out the door was like letting a beautiful opportunity slip through his fingers.
They were half way out the door, and Eddie spoke before he knew what he was doing “Wait!”
They turned around, Richie’s hand on the door handle. Eddie rushed to find a napkin and quickly scribbled down his number before he could change his mind. He had a feeling that he probably wouldn’t.
He reached out his hand, napkin hanging loosely from his fingers. “Here,” he smiled timidly, suddenly feeling scared that Richie wouldn’t want it after all.
A pleased grin took over Richie’s face as he slowly walked back to the counter. “Really?”
Eddie laughed nervously. “Yes, really.”
Richie reached out, caressing his fingers over Eddie’s as he took the napkin from Eddie’s grip. “Wow, I’ll text you as soon as I wake up tomorrow.”
Eddie grinned. “Don’t you mean later today?”
Richie laughed, crinkles appearing on the sides of his eyes. He looked beautiful. “Exactly.”
Bill tapped Richie on the shoulder.
“Right”, Richie said. “We’re going now.”
They started walking towards the door again, and as Bill opened the door, Richie turned back to look at Eddie. “You’re not going to regret this, Eds.”
“By calling me that, I’m already regretting it!” Eddie said lightheartedly.
The door was closing as Richie started laughing, filling the coffee shop with the beautiful sound one more time.
Eddie just stared at them as the two men talked outside for a second in the pink light.
“I can’t believe that just happened”, Stan said as he stepped up beside him. “Only you could get a date at 7am in the morning.”
Eddie tried glaring at him, but it was impossible with the massive smile on his face.
***
It was 7:30am when Richie and Bill stepped out of the coffee shop.
“I can’t believe you just did that”, Bill said. “There were so many people you cuh-could have picked up at the club but duh-didn’t, and instead you pick up someone fuh-fuh-from a coffee shop after we’re duh-done partying.”
Richie laughed. “Well, there weren’t anyone interesting in the clubs. You saw how cute he was, Bill.”
“Well, he wuh-was certainly your type.”
“I’m definitely marrying him.”
“Sure, Richie. Let’s go.”
As the two of them started walking down the street, Richie couldn’t stop himself from looking at the sidewalk sign once more. On the other side that they hadn’t seen on their way inside, it said “Have a brew-tiful day!” a drawn coffee cup with a smiley face grazing the bottom. “So fucking cute”, Richie muttered to himself.
Then he looked up at the coffee shop itself, seeing the name “Books and coffee” in a cursive pink font. He made a mental note of asking Eddie about the name the next time he saw him before turning around and following after Bill, the napkin safely tucked inside the pocket of his jean jacket.

vitamix ice cream recipes|How To Make Ice Cream In A Vitamix (the Healthy Kind)

For me personally icecream drops inside a unique food collection.  The food group that'll forever remain within my paleo food-pyramid.  It will not indicate that I over indulge from the commercially-made sour type.  I create my own, personal paleo friendly icecream in your home and put anything I need indoors. I understand that in regards to making ice cream in your home, the majority folks give up the theory the moment we hear the language 'churn by hands' or 'receive your icecream manufacturer ready' (ps.  I really don't have one).  BUT, maybe not knowing exactly what 'churning' is perhaps not with a icecream manufacturer shouldn't stop you.  For those who get a high heeled blender such as vita-mix, then you can create beautiful, guilt-free icecream very quickly.  Here's the low down! To generate ice cream ice cream such as sausage and sorbet at a vita-mix or some other high heeled blender you want three important ingredients. Inch.  Some thing freezing like frozen peanuts, frozen berries, frozen yogurt, ice, frozen coconut milk and so forth. Some liquid -- perhaps not just a great deal but only enough to find the mixing begun, and to bring a few creaminess. The majority of times that it is likely to soon be some type of milk, cheese or lotion.  Coconut water, routine juice and water is also used. Flavours & Shades -- un-sweetened cacao powder, vanilla, cinnamon, peppermint, sweeteners (eggs, honey, olive oil, brown rice syrup), berries, citrus juice, nut butters, coconut butter, chocolate chips, coconut flakes, sliced nuts, legumes, super-food powders, and sometimes even a few unsalted liqueurs (OMG!) . Vita-mix Ice-cream recipesSave Here I have come up with three simple base recipes for you started.  It's possible to produce your own elaborate or simple tastes based on everything you have from your house or that which fresh fruit may possibly maintain season.  Checkout this up of Top-20 Vita-mix Ice-creams in my own sister website Happy Human Body Formula to get inspiration. Version Inch  -- Plain Creamy Vanilla Icecream 1/2 cup (120 ml) option of lotion -to get primal peeps this is complete cream or half & half, also for milk free variations utilize coconut oil or coconut milk 1/4 cup wanted detergent, depending on how sweet you need it 1 2 tsp vanilla, or other flavouring like olive oil, cinnamon, nutmeg, Rose-water 2 cups frozen milk cubes (both olive, rice or almond milk, lotion diluted in water to get primal) Makes 2 3 cups Version 2 -- Chocolate Icecream 1 cup (240-250 tsp) low-fat milk of selection or complete water and cream blended 1/2 cup (approximately 3-5 gram) raw Un-sweetened cacao/cocoa powder 1/3 cup wanted natural sweetener 1 tsp vanilla extract 34 cups Ice Makes 3-4 cups Variation 3 -- Banana Nice-cream 2 frozen bananas (pre-sliced bananas can combine simpler) 1/4 cup non-dairy milk like coconut or almond milk 1 tbsp wanted sweetener 1 tsp vanilla (perhaps a little bit of cinnamon) Makes two servings Notice: for every 1 cup of berries or fruit, incorporate 1/3 cup of milk or liquid. vitamix_ice_cream_recipes Put all ingredients in the vita-mix container in the order listed and fasten the lid. Select Variable Inch. Switch the system on and slowly increase rate to Variable 10, and then High -- over 5 7 minutes. Utilize the Stir to press on the components to the blades. In roughly 30-40 moments, the noise of this engine will change and also four mounds should shape. Block the machine and also don't over blend whilst the mix is able to begin to melt down.  Serve immediately or transfer to a freezer for after.  Re-blend after saving in the freezer having a tiny liquid. These guidelines are written for its CSeries vita-mix machines using Variable Speed controller and Conventional 64-ounce container.  You are able to use other high-performance grinder like Blendtec and sometimes even decide to try the Nutribullet, but be certain you make alterations to the Variable Rate, processing period, or component amounts. A heap of spoons using little, stuffed containers of chocolate ice cream Preparing the evaluation So just how would people pick the very best icecream?  By taste, obviously!  (Interesting fact: We taste test most our recipes until they are published.  Test out it.) To assemble a non-biased remark, we chose to run a blind taste test. We all lined replicas of every ice-cream sidebyside, with no sign of packaging, branding or price.  (up-scale brands or trendy packaging may influence people's opinion, though it generally does not always have something to do with flavor)  The ice-creams themselves were on trial. Four candidates carefully clarifying the chocolate ice cream The Warriors We piled up eight icecream fanatics from all over the workplace.  All these people today consider food all day long (they make our books and novels), therefore they've some capable palates. The standards We believed two main faculties: texture and flavor.  All of us were searching for a icecream which needed a rich chocolate flavor and smoothand balanced feel.  It ought to be a thing which people mightn't mind spooning right from the bathtub or mixing to a milk shake. With this criteria in mind we now started tasting one.  Each taste-tester gave each spade a demanding score out of 10 (The greater your score, the greater the spade.) Two judges piling their numbered containers as they keep the flavor evaluation The outcomes Number10: Halo Top Regardless of caution we introduced the group into a low-carb, low-fat icecream.  The strange beige coloring has been that the very first signal that icecream was distinctive from the others. Taste: In contrast to different brands, this ice cream tasted such as a protein shake.  The chocolate flavor was too light to carry a candle to your remainder. Thought: Despite hanging out to the longest period, Ha-Lo Top remained unusually compact and brewed small. Opinions: "Tastes like sodium"  "It is odd it maintained its own contour" Average Rating: 2.4 No9: Purple Cow Purple Cow icecream from Meijer didn't farewell.  The judges dished their blunt remarks. Taste: This icecream had a funny after taste, and folks agreed it tasted "old" Thought: The feel has been off way.  Its consequences was freezing. Comments: "Tastes like Freezer Burn."  "It is fine." Average Rating: 3.2 #8: Market Pantry Our judges' very first comment was "Wow!"  That was then immediately followed closely by, "That is a sugar bomb"  This shovel disappointed lots of our judges and also received exceptional ratings for the flavor and feel. Taste: it is our most sugar-packed spade of this crowd.  Many thought it had been sweet. Thought: A number of these material was shown to be freezing, using a marginally chalk-like top quality. Comments: "Yuck."  "Sugar burst!" Average Rating: 4.2 No7: Dean's Neither the flavor nor feel of this spade thrilled that our judges.  A sort taster indicated that it may work well within a icecream cake as the chocolate flavor was really mild. Taste: Everybody agreed  icecream dropped short.  The flavor was referred to as economical, chalky and lacking from the chocolate section. Thought: The spade needed a strange, freezing texture.  It felt as though the flavor disappeared once it struck your own tongue again.  Moreover, the icecream had held its contour at a almost supernatural way. Remarks: "Tastes chalky."  "No chocolate flavor" Average Rating: 5.4 No6: Kemps The feel of this spade was pleasurable, however, also the flavor got low marks.  Our judges did not linger with the particular brand for long and so were quick to make the journey into the following. Taste: Most noticed  icecream was around the end of this spectrum.  Additionally, the chocolate appeared salty and artificial. Thought: Over the reverse side, this spade was much wider compared to other brands.  The melt quality has been good results.  The icecream had the feel of a softserve. Comments: "Fake."  "Salty."  "much too candy" Average Rating: 5.6 Half-empty containers wrapped haphazardly facing opened cartons of chocolate ice cream No5: HaagenDazs Even though it's certainly one of the very widely used--and pricey--brands, HaagenDazs did not surpass expectations.  Judges thought it had been soso.  The icecream had a markedly lighter look than the remainder, also regrettably it was likewise milder in flavor. Taste: In contrast to different brands, this spade needed a little cinnamon flavor, tasting much like to a Mexican cocoa. Thought: The texture was creamy and nice. Remarks: "The spice carries off from the chocolate flavor"  "nearly sexy!" Average Rating: 6.1 No4: Breyers This ice-cream's flavor was intense, plus some described it to be "delicate"  Not fantastic, but not awful either! Taste: For this spade, the flavor had been hard to discover.  It tasted just like quite a subtle chocolate. Thought: '' There clearly was a chalky feel for the spade, which immediately dry our mouths out.  Water! Remarks: "Bitter after taste."  "a lot like chocolate" Average Rating: 6.4 No3: Cedar Crest Unbeknownst into the testers, this icecream has been from the Wisconsin company.  Taste of Home is located at Milwaukee, therefore we'd to see whether the dairy state would fulfill its reputation!  This spade definitely packaged with creamy flavor, bypassing boundaries over other package. Taste: It was rich, milk chocolate taste.  The judges described there is a small caramel note, too.  For several, this flavor proved to be a fantastic thing, but the others were less enthusiastic. Thought: Cedar Crest remained firm in its own spade.  It had a delicate feel, which melted in the mouth. Remarks: "Certainly milk chocolate"  "had a caramel undertones...I am not fond of all caramel."  "Not chocolate flavor" Average Rating: 8 No2: Blue Bunny This extra-rich ice-cream absolutely impressed our judges.  Even as we assembled round the desk, the smiles climbed with every spoonful.  It only not exactly reached our high choice. Taste: Once comparing to other ice-creams, this spade had a profound chocolate flavor with a small chalky after taste.  My hunch is that it is out of the cherry powder. Thought: The icecream has been creamy and smooth, exactly like good icecream needs to be.  Despite hanging outside from the freezer for a couple of minutes, the spade organized ardently. Remarks: "It is similar to an outdated time-y Dutch chocolate icecream"  "Loaded!" Average Rating: 8.8 Nicole Doster hitting a spoonful into a carton of Edy's chocolate ice cream being hauled out to her No1: Edy's The winner has been clear.  Edy's chocolate pleasure proved to be a stand out one of the crowd.  The flavor and feel proved therefore good some judges moved for seconds. Taste: This ice cream has been rich, creamy and filled with strong, dark chocolate notes.  The intense flavor struck all of the marks on our ginger radar. Idea: The spade remained firm in your own spoon but melted ever-so-softly on orally.  Some predicted it the best ice cream cream simply by far. Remarks: "super-rich with black chocolate notes"  "I loathed everything."  "Really creamy" Average Rating: 8.9 With full bellies, the tasting has been complete.  I frankly couldn't believe just how much icecream we'd swallowed.  Here's a Fast recap: From highest to the lowest measure: Edy's, Blue Bunny, Cedar Crest, Breyers, HaagenDazs, Kemps, Dean's, Market Pantry, Purple Cow and lastly, Ha-Lo Top. Astonished?  So are we.  Listed below are the Main Take Aways: Cost does not require quality. I had been shocked after I realized a pricey icecream such as haagen dazs did not create the most effective three (it ended fifth).  Before this were cheaper brands like Breyers, that will be practically a quarter of the price.  I'll definitely think twice before spending big bucks to get a name. Once it comes to taste, low-carb ice-cream does not consume. A "healthy" ice-cream such as Halo Top came in last place was not a enormous surprise.  As it's low carb, there is hardly any possibility it will have the exact same creamy, flavorful taste as, state, Blue Bunny or even Edy's.  It's really worth noting, however, that Ha-Lo Top clocks init in only 280 calories a watt.  (That is not exactly half of the calories of Edy's!)) For a hostess I wouldn't attempt to function such an icecream for a audience, however, understanding its high-value nutrition reality, I could just throw a scoop or 2 to get myself personally. Everybody's most useful differs. Taste is downright subjective.  Within this very small evaluation set, a few judges did not look after caramel, while some others loved it.  A few preferred a towel that was soft, while some others enjoyed their icecream firm and suspended.  The single method to learn your chosen will be to try on yourself. Desire the icecream?  Ensure it!  In this way it is possible to customize it to your preferences.  Learn the easiest solution to produce great-tasting ice-cream.  No icecream machine necessary. Camping Food
One of the easiest camping foods to pack is trail mix, and when it comes to camping food…..simplicity is king.  Especially if it has flavor,  didn’t require any cooking or washing any dishes. DEAL, right?!?!
Camping food like trail mix is an excellent alternative to traditional camping foods because its versatile, cheap, lightweight & lasts forever.  You can buy it pre-made or make it from scratch. It only costs a couple of bucks, and over the years my trail mix recipes have saved me thousands of dollars in camping food supplies and thousands of hours from washing dishes.
From tropical to downright nutty I have a trail mix recipe for every camping occasion, but most of my creations come from spur of the moment in-store cravings.  Budgets beware when I’m hungry I just don’t care.  Click the following text if all you want is my latest camping food trail mix recipe OR usual camping food trail mix ingredients.
When I was growing up camping was our families vacations. We didn’t stay in fancy hotels, all-inclusive resorts or even campgrounds for that matter. My mom would do the grocery shopping, and my dad would do the packing. The last item we always loaded was the cooler or coolers depending on the time of the year or length of trip.  These camping chests would be loaded with burgers, hot dogs, buns, condiments and a few treats.  Then topped with sodas & ice.  Which was always my job.  If my brother & I were fighting at the time his soda’s wouldn’t get covered in ice, and well shaken.
Healthy trail mix wasn’t stashed in our bags or secretly hiding under the car seats. We were a burger & brat camping family.  That relied heavily on BBQ sauce to bring some excitement into our campfire food.
Trail Mix Hobby
Trail mix wasn’t even on our radar, but besides being a great alternative to your traditional campfire foods.  Healthy homemade trail mix can turn into a hobby. From smoking or dehydrating your own meats & fruits to creating your own marinades & seasoning recipes.  You can take it a step farther by candying your own candies and hiding your own little treasures under a candy-coated shell.
I haven’t taken it that far yet, but I am courting. So if you have any dehydrator tips leave them in the comments below. Specifically for off-grid or backcountry lifestyles like mine.  Or if you just want to share stories of sibling torment those are always fun to read too.
What ingredients are in trail mix?
The most common ingredients in trail mix are nuts, dried fruit & chocolate.  Walnuts, cashews & peanuts dominate most trail mix recipes.  Cranberries, bananas & raisins are usually the dried fruit of choice.  When it comes to chocolate………….. M & M’s take the crown.  This is what I call a Walmart Trail Mix.  Basic, affordable & functional.  And you can make an incredibly tasty trail mix from big box stores like:
  Walmart Trail Mix
Target Trail Mix
Costco Trail Mix
Amazon Trail Mix
Dollar Store Trail Mix
By buying pre-packaged trail mix flavors and mixing them all together you can create your own homemade trail mix concoction.  Big box stores generally carry four trail mix recipes: Cajun, Mountain, Indulgent or Tropical.
Cajun Trail Mix
Maybe your the type of person that likes Tobasco sauce with your cereal, or cuts your own hair with a lighter.  Well, you’re probably a Cajun trail mix fan then.  This healthy camping food is usually a blend of sesame sticks, peanuts, almonds & buttered toffee nuts coated in a bold spicey salt.  Other variations will also include chex, toasted corn & wasabi peas. Be careful though of those wasabi peas they pack a punch, but if you want to have some fun with your younger sibling tell em ……………a fat lie on how awesome they are.
  Mountain Trail Mix
Maybe wasabi peas aren’t your thing but you like to kick bananas & stare down crickets while still craving a healthy camping food.  Give the pioneer of store-bought trail mix a try then.  The usual suspects include raisins, M & M’s, cashews & peanuts.  It’s not going to win any awards for its exotic flavor profile, but it travels well and keeps your energy up.  The mountain trail mix is a gateway to healthy camping foods, and your kids will love it.  Well, they’ll probably just love the M & M’s but they’re better for you than playing with a flamethrower in a tent right?
  Indulgent Trail Mix
Have you ever done any fan kicking? Or dancing in the rain?  Not all trail mix is healthy for you, but neither is fan kicking or bacon & french fries.  And almost every restaurant in America serves up both these ingredients.  Sometimes you just want to indulge in your camping food, and the Indulgent Trail Mix will let you let you dance in the rain.  I promise.  Maybe
With a blend of white chocolate, dark chocolate & peanut butter drop chips its no mystery why this is a popular choice.  Regrettably, this trail mix finishes off with golden raisins, cashews & peanuts though instead of ice cream & a Netflix Original series.  Pick out the raisins –still goes great with ice cream, and makes a great non-cook campfire food treat that everyone will love.  Seriously who doesn’t like ice cream?
Tropical Trail Mix
I have a friend that is padded room crazy, but loveable.  Which is exactly is how I feel about tropical trail mix recipes. The healthiest trail mix is the mountain mix.  Particularly if you pick out the M & M’s, but a lot of people think the tropical trail mix is the healthiest on the market because of the dried fruit.  Unfortunately, because companies add a lot of sugar to their dried fruit the tropical mix is one of the unhealthiest trail mixes for you.  Don’t get me wrong I am a big fan of the flavor profile of tropical trail mix recipes, but it’s just not the healthiest camping food for you unless you make it yourself.
A traditional tropical mix recipe will include a lot of dried fruits like papaya, mango, pineapple, peaches, and apricots.  As well as coconut shavings and your usual ingredients like golden raisins, cranberries, banana chips, honey roasted peanuts & toffee brittle.  Tropical trail mix recipes are full of exotic flavor profiles and are the most unique homemade recipes.
Homemade Trail Mix
For years these four trail mix recipes found their way into my backpacks, cupboards, and tuppaware.  I would buy various quantities of each one.  Sometimes mixing them together and sometimes not.  It wasn’t until an adventure in Utah went horribly wrong that I discovered the ultimate homemade trail mix method.  I came across a climbing group that spends 6 months a year in the backcountry and the only camping food they pack is three 50 gallon drums of homemade trail mix to snack on.  One they buy.  One they make and the third is a combination of both.
Being the trail mix superfan that I am. I felt like a rock band groupie stumbling backstage by “accident.”  wink wink.  This group of dirtbags (what climbers like to call themselves) is what I like to call trail mix hobbyist.  They dehydrate all their own fruits & meats.   Wish I would have paid more attention to their dehydrator, but I guess we’ll just have to chalk that up to another travel regret.  They also make all their own chocolates & granola bars.
Learning Homemade Trail Mix
I was lucky enough to get an invite when they went on their resupply field trip.  Instead of buying pre-packaged trail mix recipes like I had been doing.  They bought items in bulk.  Five pounds of cashew.  Twenty pounds of almonds.  Three pounds of pumpkin seeds.  Two pounds of this; Eight pounds of that.  Bags & bags of oats, raisins, pistachios, coconut flakes, sesame sticks, pretzels, wasabi peas & so much more.  The big surprise for me was hundreds of boxes of cereal.  Cocoa puffs, chex, corn flakes, cheerio’s, Golden Grahams, cookie crisps & mini wheats.  The check out lady probably thought this was our first time out of the bunker in the last 50 years.  We almost needed to rent a box truck to get our trail mix supplies back to camp.
When we got back to camp the music was turned up.  Bags were ripped open, and the creation party began.  I’ve been to keg parties, bong parties even sushi-rolling parties in Montana, but I had never even heard of a trail mixing party.  Twelve hours & 10 cases of beer later these dirtbags had restocked their camping food supply for another 6 months of climbing adventures.  All the barrels were full.  Everyone had their own bucket, basket or ziplock bag filled with their own unique trail mix recipe.  It was like going to Colorado’s Microbrew Festival.  Where you go from booth to booth trying each trailmasters’s mix, and voting on who’s was best.
That moment in time with strangers in the desert of Utah showed me how to pursue a passion I never even knew I had.  Traveling alone with strangers will open your eyes like this.  Might even unlock personal mysteries, but most of all travel will turn you into a sponge.  Everywhere you go and everyone you meet will have you soaking up information, mannerisms & viewpoints.  I tell you this because before meeting this group of climbers I made trail mix from the “big four” recipes that big box stores carry, and now I am on the hunt for a dehydrator.  Did I mention that yet?
My “pre-travel” self would have imploded trying to figure out a solution to my situation.  Where my “post-travel” self just rolled with the punches, and by doing so found a solution, entertainment, great friends & a hobby I can do anywhere in the world.
How do I make Camping food trail mix?
Those gravity-defying hippies opened my eyes to a way of life &  new trail mix recipes.   I don’t take it to the lengths they do yet, but if I find the right dehydrator …..never say never.  Knowing that I could create my own healthy homemade trail mix with an exciting flavor profile combining both taste and texture was a game changer for me.  So when its time to pack camping food for a backcountry trip I can now bring more then brauts & burgers to the table. These days my go-to camping food is trail mix for a number of reasons. It’s a great social snack around the campfire at the end of a long day of hiking. Has a long shelf life. Healthy, versatile & customizable. Plus, I would be willing to bet there are more trail mix recipes then there are websites in the world.
For me, I don’t have a “structured” method when creating my trail mix.  I mean come on I don’t even have a structured life let alone measuring cups and spoons.  But I did go to a friends house and try to create a “structured” trail mix recipe for you.  You can find that further in the reading, but for me, I just throw it all together.  If I bought too much like I did in the pictures above.  I just wait a few days, and then add the remaining ingredients. In this case, I had no room for the cereal, but a few days later I did.
That’s why I love trail mix.  You can add anything you want at any time to your recipe.   My original recipe wasn’t my end recipe.  Because not only did I add cereal a week later, but two weeks after that I also added chocolate truffles & teriyaki chicken jerky.  Eventually, I added honey roasted peanuts & cocoa puffs too.
I don’t always do healthy or indulgent recipes. Sometimes I call an audible in the middle, end or even the beginning.  Which is why I love trail mix because of its versatility.  I have never had meatloaf and dried fruit trail mix before, but I am sure there is some drunk decision making still left in me.  So never say never.
So it is safe to say I don’t have a “go to” camping food trail mix recipe, but my usual suspects include:
Gluten Free Honey Nut Chex Mix(mainly for filler)
Dried Mangos, Apricots, Strawberries & Cranberries
Bulk Nuts salted/unsalted/honey roasted/chocolate covered (almonds give me a stomach ache but I still throw em in there)
1-2 Indulgent items (peanut butter filled pretzels, candy covered burnt peanuts or something else covered in chocolate)
Wasabi Peas or something spicy
Nature Valley Granola Bars (chocolate 1st choice) break em into bite-size also makes a great cereal)
dried veggie chips
1-3 wild cards (triscuits/wheat thins, coconut flakes, toffee brittle, beef jerky, popcorn, dried green beans, dried peas, etc etc)

Is Trail Mix Healthy?
Trail mix ingredients have earned a reputation of being a healthy nutritious camping food designed to fuel your body and give you the energy you need to be physically active, and while most trail mix ingredients live up to this reputation some ingredients do nothing more than drive up the calorie count of this camping food.  The answer to “Is trail mix healthy?”  Is most likely no.  It has nuts and fruit, two major ingredients that do technically belong under the healthy camping foods umbrella, but store-bought trail mix recipes bring along saturated fats, artificial flavors, and added sugars.  So finding a trail mix recipe in stores with health benefits and no unhealthy benefits might be a bit frustrating.
But if your playing chess with a unicorn, the nutritional value of trail mix is probably the least of your concerns.  Peanuts, raisins & dried fruit carry a lot of nutrients and protein, but they also provide a lot of calories and sugar.  If your a healthy person trail mix is healthy for you, but then again if you are an active person what isn’t healthy for you?  If trail mix was good for weight loss corporate America & affiliate marketers would be all over this cash cow camping food.  If trail mix was heart healthy & lowered cholesterol TV ads would be saturated with products.
The ingredients in this camping food are good for you, but the way the ingredients are manufactured is what triggers the unhealthy alarms.  Serving size also contributes to this equation.  Something I believe I am immune too (not really but I can dream right) because when I break out this camping food its generally an hour later before I pack it back away.
How Do You Ensure A Healthy Camping Food Trail Mix Recipe?
To make a healthy trail mix recipe all you have to do is remember three things: Raw, Unsweetened & Unsulfured.
If done right a trail mix recipe can be nutritious & healthy.  Alternatively, if you buy from stores to make this camping food healthy and nutritious you will need to avoid the unhealthy ingredients.  It takes a little more effort and a few more dollars, but if you’re after healthy camping food all it takes is awareness & effort.  Farmers markets are great for finding raw healthy trail mix ingredients.  Particularly, vegetables and fruit you can dry your self.
Healthy Trail Mix Recipe
The homemade trail mix version you can tweak and clicking the links below will take you to the exact ingredients I use:
2 Cups Cheerios
2 Cups Granola (crumbles or bars)
1 1/2 cups raw nuts (almonds, pecans, cashews, peanuts etc..)
1 cup raw seeds (sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds etc..)
1 cup unsweetened, unsulphured dried fruit (apricots, mangos, papayas, cherries, cranberries, raisins etc..)
Fun stuff (amounts vary)  (beef jerky, chopped dark chocolate, wheat thins, triscuits, rice cakes, dried strawberries, popcorn,  pretzels etc..)
Spice i.e. 1/4 tsp sea salt, 1/2 tsp cinnamon, a pinch of nutmeg (optional)
**Some of these items will require a Prime Membership to get lower prices.
My Go-To Camping Food Trail Mix Recipe:
1 cup raw almonds
1 cup raw pecans
1 cup raw walnuts
1 cup raw cashews
1 cup chocolate granola
1 bag of rice cakes
1/2 cup raw sunflower seeds
1/2 cup of raw coconut flakes
1/2 cup raw pumpkin seeds
1 cup dried strawberries
1/2 cup unsweetened, unsulfured  apricots
1/2 cup unsweetened, unsulfured mangos
1 bag of ramen noodles( i don’t use the salt)
1 box of gluten free honey chex cereal
1/4 tsp sea salt
1/2 tsp cinnamon,
pinch of nutmeg
pinch of garlic
**NOTES** I toast the pecans and cashews for 10 minutes at 350 degrees before adding to the rest of the ingredients.  I also crumble up the rice cakes & granola bars.  Sometimes I will put the granola bars in a separate container for easy cereal making access.**

Is Trail Mix Good For Weight Loss?
I get this question all the time.  I want to say yes, but then I look down at a bowl filled with chocolate, candies & gas station store bought dried fruit. Trail mix is associated with outdoor adventurous activities.  Which makes people assume this camping food is healthy and good for weight loss.
Unfortunately, this camping food isn’t focused on weight loss.  Mainly because nuts are pretty high in calorie count.  Unless you are engaged in a physical activity these calories will be stored and turned into heart-healthy fats by the body.  This transforms this so-called “healthy” snack into a high-calorie dessert. A small handful can easily contain 300+ calories.  Not what you want if weight loss is your goal.
Speeding up your metabolism and energizing your body are two factors everyone needs when trying to lose weight.  Proper portion size and combing trail mix with another appropriate diet will help you lose weight fast. I wish I could tell you this is the magic bullet where you could eat as much as you want, and the pounds would start to shed quicker then it began.  But weight loss requires activity, and no matter how healthy or unhealthy this camping food may be it is not a substitute for activity.
Is Eating Trail Mix Bad For You?
Eating trail mix as your camping food for 6 months straight is most likely extremely bad for you.  Eating this camping food for 6 months straight while climbing mountain faces for 10 hours a day is probably necessary.  Trail mix is high in fats, sugars & calories.
Three things active people need to sustain their energy.  Eating trail mix isn’t bad for you it’s just not good for you if you’re not active.  Trail mix is a camping food.  Nothing more nothing less.  Eat it in moderation and you will be just fine.  Unless your allergic to nuts then I suggest you delete everything you learned from this post.  In fact, why are you reading this post?  Don’t drink almond milk either.
Trail Mix Stole My Heart
I love trail mix.  I love creating it, and the people I go camping with love inviting me because they know I am bringing trail mix as my camping food.  Its a great social snack around the campfire at night.  It’s the perfect camping food because of its lightweight.  Travels well and keeps my energy up.  Does that mean I am going to fill my cupboards full of this camping food?
Well, probably, but I also camp 350 days a year. Ski 100+ days a year.  Kitesurf  ~ well I have the gear but have only used it once.  My lifestyle might be different than yours, but trail mix is wonderful.  Especially for people like me that hate doing the dishes.  Or spending an hour cooking for five when I only have one.  I love to snack all day every day.  Specifically, if it doesn’t require a trip to the store or prepping.  Trail mix may not be good for you in large doses, but what it is?  I’ve tried to give you as much knowledge & background information as I can about trail mix, but at the end of the day the only thing I can guarantee you is this:
Trail Mix Is Highly Compatible With My LIifestyle

Astonished?
