Salmon Soup (Makes 5 Servings)
Tumblr media
We bring you this recipe from our panel, “Anime Foodies: Laid-Back Camp The Movie”.
During the construction of the campsite in Yamanashi, our characters spend the night to give the campground a test run.  Nadeshiko and Aoi are assigned to feed the group and stumble upon a tremendous sale on salmon which they take advantage of for a selection of dishes for the evening.  This first recipe we see them create is a play on a Finnish soup called lohikeitto.
6 Cups - Water
1 ¼ Pound Skin-Off – Salmon
7 – Black Peppercorns
2 – Bay Leaves
1 Medium – White Onion
4 Medium – Carrots
2 Small – Russet Potatoes
1 TSP – Dried Dill
1 TSP – Kosher Salt
1/2 Cup – Heavy Cream
Bring the water to a boil over high heat.
As the water boils, peel the carrots and chop these and the onions into a large dice.
Once the water is boiling, add the peppercorns, bay leaves, onions, and carrots; cover; reduce the heat to medium; and cook for 5 minutes.
As this is cooking, peel the potatoes and chop into large, bite-sized pieces.
After the 5 minutes are up, add the potatoes, cover, and cook for another 8 minutes.
As this is cooking, check the salmon for bones and slice into 10 large nuggets.
After the 8 minutes are up, add the salmon, salt, cream, and dill; reduce the heat to medium low; cover; cook for a final 5 minutes, and serve.
Tumblr media
Optional/Notes:
If you use skin on salmon, make sure to check for any leftover scales on the skin before slicing it.
If you want a bit of a richer taste to the soup, you can substitute the water for a fish stock though this may reduce the amount of salt you need to add.
The small number of peppercorns don’t add a noticeable pepper flavor, so these can be crushed or ground if you want more pepper flavor to the soup.
If you would like to use fresh dill, increase the amount to 1 TBSP.

Last summer we went on a camping trip and a fast-handed midnight visitor snatched our friend's red camp bag and ran off with it's goods. We spent hours on the trail looking for it and discovered veritable piles of clif bar wrappers and slim jim packaging in the woods looking like a summoning circle of this little beast's making. Eventually, and despite all odds the bag was retrieved (although quite empty and with a new hole and the culprit quite gone and still at large). I chronicled this story for the amusement of our friend whose perseverance proved greater than the sly trickery of a very hungry little guy.

(Car camping) I went camping while commuting to and from work for 10 days and 9 nights. Part 1 / Asangadell Camping Site / January 9-18, 2023 / In Korea
youtube
We are a middle-aged couple camper who do moto camping by motorcycle or auto camping by car.
This channel was created to cherish our couple's riding and camping memories and family trips, so I would appreciate it if you enjoyed it.
My Life Philosophy: Life is short. Let's enjoy life.
This time, I went camping while commuting to and from work for 10 days and 9 nights. We ate a lot of delicious food, drank, and had fun.
Since it is a 9 nights and 10 days camping, the length is too long, so I divided it into 1 and 2 episodes and uploaded it.

BIBLIOGRAPHY - “ANIME FOODIES: LAID-BACK CAMP THE MOVIE”
Tumblr media
This is the bibliography for our entry in the Anime Foodies series of panels, “Anime Foodies: Laid-Back Camp The Movie”.  The sources include not only places from which we garnered background of the food we were cooking, but also sources that helped us determine how to craft our own version of the recipes we were creating.
This is the second Anime Foodies panel which has a formal bibliography of sources.  Those marked with double asterisks are regular sources we’ve used in all of the panels in the series and are a good starting point for anyone interested in Japanese food and its history.

This post is about actual camping I don't live in a terrible bit of America.
Can anyone recommend any just-add-hot-water camping meals that are a) vegan b) readily available in the UK and c) enough for someone with a big appetite who gets hangry and intends to burn a lot of calories going up mountains?
I've tried Firepot - specifically the orzo bolognese, mushroom risotto and chilli versions - and they're pretty good so far. Not sure if Huel is worth a go? They sound nice and I'm into the nutritional completeness but you have to buy like £50 worth at a time and they might be horrible. Tent Meals looked like a possiblity but there's a pretty limited choice.
Any other suggestions?
