My favorite ship for each SDR2 Character
***Hard mode: I cannot double up on the couples. So each character must have a different ship***
*Note: I did not fact check any of this so forgive me if some areas are wrong*
Akane: Akane x Nekomaru
Considering Akane’s past, I think Nekomaru is the only male character that could ever make Akane feel comfortable. I headcanon Nekomaru as ace so whenever he would give Akane a massage, there was not an ounce of perversion. Any time Nekomaru looked at Akane’s body it was as a team manager who honestly cared about her. Meanwhile, Nekomaru appreciates how lively Akane is. As someone who was bedridden for most his life, he loves to watch Akane jump around. He loves laughing with her with all his heart.
Imposter: Imposter x Ibuki
I like the idea of someone who can’t be themself with someone giving up everything to be themself.
Chiaki: Chiaki x Peko
I think a lot of wlw ships involve Person A trying to fix Peko. But Chiaki x Peko is sweet because I can see Chiaki accepting Peko as she is. Chiaki is very patience and only wants Peko to change if Peko WANTS to change. Meanwhile Peko is enamored by Chiaki. Chaiki is very chill and not overwhelming. But she’s not boring at all, she can get passionate when she wants to be. Peko loves learning more about Chiaki and her interests. While Peko can’t understand other’s people life experience such as a normal childhood, she can easily understand Chiaki’s video games. These two take turns looking out for each other.
Fuyuhiko: Fuyuhiko x Hajime
Their relationship is based on being equals. They’re each other comfort. They’re both caregivers who wants to take care of everyone but themselves. They understand even after all the crazy things they went though, at the core of everything: they’re both hurt men clinging to any resemblance of normalcy. They know when it’s important to pick up their titles/responsibilities, and when to throw it to the side. And if they ever slip, they know they have someone who has their back. And it’s only thank to that safety net, they know they can be vulnerable.
Gundham: Gundham x Peko
This one is cheating because I only see them as platonic. It’s Sondam or bust. But these two can be so interesting if you just look past their love of animals as their only common factor. Gundham, thinking he’s this dark entity of lord and evil. Meanwhile Peko comes in and is actually a tragedy. While he was born between the unity of a demon and angel, her birth was shunned by the entire world. Her piercing stare that scares man and animal alike. Her sword always sharp enough to take a life. Oh what is Gundham to do? A worthy challenger has come for his title of tragic anime character. The only way to rectify this is to obviously lift Peko up to the point where he alone stands on this solitary platform. Anyways, I have a lot of scenarios where Gundham tries to cheer up Peko for not feeling normal.
Hajime: Hajime x Chiaki
Hands down, this is the most domestic/vanilla ship on the list. Everything is tragic because these two can’t be together. Chiaki, this Ultimate that has what Hajime wanted, turns out to be a really relatable girl. Her talent, video games, is the great equalizer. Anyone can play video games. It can bring people together. Chiaki is on the same wavelength as Hajime. She brings the title of Ultimate to his level. These two truly get along and have great chemistry. Everything is tragic because these two can’t be together.
Hiyoko: Hiyoko x Mahiru
(Warning: Ship Negativity)
This is the only ship on this list where I have no love whatsoever. But you would be sorely mistaken if you think I would give the time of day to Hiyoko’s character. Hiyoko x Mahiru wins by default. Hiyoko being entirely reliant on Mahiru whilst Mahiru ignores all of Hiyoko’s incivilities does not sit well with me. I do like the fact that Hiyoko wants to change for Mahiru, the story does not develop it well enough and I do not have the mental capacity to explore it. I would love to see Hiyoko and Fuyuhiko have a conversation akin to Tanjiro and Zenitsu about Nezuko; where if Hiyoko keeps getting babied by Mahiru then Mahiru will never see her as more than just a sister.
Ibuki: Ibuki x Peko
(Warning: Ship Negativity)
I know this is a good ship. For personal reasons I do not like this ship but if I can look past my biases, I know this is a good ship. I hate how most Ibuki x Peko shippers mindset towards this ship is “Ibuki deserves a hot sword girlfriend” and ignores Peko in the long run (Please don’t say, Ibuki can teach Peko to be more outspoken. That just inherently demonizes Peko for being a quiet girl, WHICH ISN”T A CHARACTER FLAW). I also hate how most of the fanart I’ve seen of these two highlight the sexual aspect of their relationship. The most common trope I see is the two stare at each other with sexual desire, which makes Peko feel OOC for the most part. I haven’t really seen anyone develop these two platonically (mind you, I haven’t been looking). I think it could be cute if they were each other’s cheerleaders. Ibuki vocally exclaiming how cool Peko is. Peko silently support Ibuki at all her shows. If you focus on the fact they’re complete opposites but mesh really well, the ship could work. But people don’t, and it pisses me off.
Kazuichi: Kazuichi x Ibuki
These two loud idiots should kiss. They give me vibes that they both crave attention so the two love being the center of each other’s eye. Both of their love language is Act of Service (as evident to Kazuichi making Mini Mechamaru and throwing a concert). Eventually they would tire themselves out trying to out do each other. After bouncing on the walls, these two can easily transition to just chilling in each other’s present. They’re also the power couple of questionable fashion taste.
Mahiru: Mahiru x Kazuichi
DON’T GET ME WRONG. I know these two would just end in a messy divorce but they can also get some true genuine moments with each other. I don’t like ships where it can only work if both character changes for each other. But I do see the appeal of Kazuichi cleaning up his act for Mahiru and Mahiru lightening up for Kazuichi. Mahiru learning slowly that it’s unfair to expect Kazuichi to be brave because he’s a man. But all ways to Sunday I think these two would break up because Mahiru is a giant lesbian who has bad comphet ideals. BUT UNTIL THEN, I would like to see Kazuichi trying his hardest to impress Mahiru. And Mahiru giving Kazuichi little kisses and taking a picture of his flustered face.
Mikan: Mikan x Ibuki
They have a cute ship name: Band-Aid. I think fanon Mikan x Ibuki works really well. If you try think about how Ibuki does not stand up for Mikan at all in canon, the ship get murky. But forget canon, lesbians are forever. Imagine Mikan going from manipulative Junko to transparent Ibuki. Imagine Mikan getting all the attention she ever wanted from Ibuki! Now Imagine Ibuki shunned by her old group for her radical ideals. Mikan would never shun Ibuki like that.
Nagito: Nagito x Hajime
I’m not the biggest Komahina fan (sorry) so sorry if this is off based. I think these two are great foils for each other because they both want the same things. The only problem is that these two take vastly different approaches to get to the same goal. Everything about Nagito confuses Hajime. Hajime can’t comprehend why he acts the way he does, why Nagito makes him smile, why Nagito puts him at ease? Hajime is constantly trying to understand Nagito. Meanwhile Nagito is trying to make a connection with someone. He thinks too lowly of himself to make a genuine connection. He lost everyone who should’ve loved him. He sees comradery in Hajime, both being nothing special. But what’s special is that they’re both so desperately want to make a connection. These two add new perspective to each other’s thoughts. I think the appeal of the ship is that they’re traveling the same path but does it dramatically different.
Nekomaru: Nekomaru x Nagito
HEAR ME OUT. The ship started when I got sad at the fact that Nagito was just tied up for most of Chapter 2. Think of the muscle athrophy! Unless... Nekomaru secretly went to visit Nagito. And Nagito was only allowed out if he exorcised with Nekomaru. That way he would never leave Nekomaru’s sight but get to stretch his legs. I also like the one anthology where they bonded over being sick kids. Oh and in the DR3 anime where Nekomaru lifted him up like a sack of potatoes.
Peko: Peko x Fuyuhiko
Peko loves Fuyuhiko so much. Everything she did was for him. And she’s such a good driving force for Fuyuhiko. She gives him space so he can grow, she’s proud of his kind heart, she is genuinely cares for him. She loves him so much, but she also accepted the fact that he doesn’t need her (or so she thought). Everything Peko does for Fuyuhiko is so selfless and pure and she literally doesn’t ask for anything in return. In her dying moments she only request that he remembers her. AND THEN TO FIND OUT THE LOVE WAS RECIPROCAL? FUYUHIKO NEEDS HER THE SAME WAY SHE NEEDED HIM? The only way to reward this selfless love is a lifetime of bliss!
Sonia: Sonia x Gundham
I love these two weirdos so much. Imagine these two being outcast for their interests their whole life and then finding someone who fully accepted them. And I love how at their core, they’re both very caring people. Two kind people, battered by the world, find someone who does not shy away from them. Sonia, not phased by Gundham’s dark persona. Gundham, doesn’t let Sonia’s title affect how he treats her.
Teruteru: Teruteru x Imposter
He was a chef, and and he was a food connoisseur. Could I make it any more obvious? I just think it’s cute, the Imposter could be anyone he wanted, and he chooses to be this country bumpkin’s husband.

Mythology in Persona
I’ve been a fan of Persona for several years, and one of the things that always got my interest is how mythology inspires and is involved in a lot of the things in the saga, for example, how Persona 3 is a whole Greek tragedy (Might talk about it in the future). This post will be related to the history and meaning behind the main character’s Personas from all the 6 games in the saga. There are some spoilers too, so be aware of that.
Tumblr media
  -          Shin Megami Tensei Persona
Starting with Naoya Toudou, or Boy with Earring as many people know him. His initial persona is Seimen Kongou, from The Emperor Arcana. The Rakshasa come from Hindu mythology, wich were created from Brahmas toes, bringing all sorts of bad omen to the world, but Seimen Kongou was different. Taking a separate path from the other Rakshasa, Seimen Kongou dedicated himself to protecting the world from his evil pairs. He is usually depicted using 4 objects: A Wheel, a staff, a vajra and a rope; each representing a thing. The Wheel represents how the Buddhist monks teach the cycle of life and death, the staff is an object used in rituals, the vajra represents the wisdom of Buddhism and the rope represents the capture of the ones that harm humanity.
In the game, Seimen Kongou’s design is mostly based on the cult of Koshin’s depiction, giving him a more humanoid look with animalistic limbs, having a face that resembles that of a demon, referencing him as a former Rakshasa. He is also accompanied by three monkeys, with a blindfold, mouthguard, and headphones; representing the “See no evil”, “Speak no evil” and “Hear no evil” respectively.
Throughout the main story of the game, we see how Naoya evolves, making him a more compassionate person. When he faces his shadow self, he doesn’t care about anything except the game he’s playing, showing us a more indifferent side of him that belongs to the start of the game. We can see the relation it has with Seimen Kongou’s story, where he rejected his devilish path and turned to one where he could help the world and protect it from evil.
  -          SMT Persona 2 Innocent Sin & Eternal Punishment
Tatsuya Suou, one of the two main characters from Persona 2. His initial persona is Vulcanus, from The Sun Arcana. Vulcanus, one of the sons of Jupiter and Juno, was the god of fire, forge, and male fertility. He’s often related to destructive fire and volcanos, having his temples located outside of the cities. His first tales speak about him finding a fire, which he used to melt iron and gold, utilizing it for swords, shields, bracelet, and chains. He crafted these items with the objective of giving them to people that would make good use of them, power in good hands can do a positive thing to the world.
This relates to Tatsuya in the beginning of the game, where he’s asked about what he’s going to do in the future, not being certain about it, not having a purpose. Joker, the main villain in this game, steals the objectives and desires of people, but he and the rest of his friends are immune to this because of their lack of purpose, which they develop as the game continues, thanks to how Tatsuya, just as Vulcanus in his stories, gives them the tools to do so. When Tatsuya finds his purpose, his Persona awakens to Apollo, God of music and the sun. I’ll talk more about him in a bit.
Now to Maya Amano. Her initial persona is Maia, from the Moon Arcana. Maia is the total opposite of Vulcanus, being a gentle goddess related to earth and love; this relates to how Tatsuya acts in a more reckless way compared to Maya, acting as a mother to the group, helping the group more than their own parents.
Her awakened persona is Artemis, sister of Apollo. The two have the same relation as Vulcanus and Maia. One being reckless and destructive, while the other being calmer and more supportive.
    -          Persona 3
Now to my favorite game of the 6 (Which is getting a remake!). Makoto Yuki and Kotone Shiomi, the first main characters who belong to The Fool Arcana, whose initial persona is Orpheus. Son of Oeagrus, king of Thrace, and Calliope, a Muse and patron of epic poetry, Orpheus was a poet, musician and prophet. In one of his various tales, he becomes one of the argonauts, keeping his partners safe with the sound of his lyre from the siren’s songs. But his most memorable one was with his wife Eurydice. The two were walking around the forest, where a satyr tried taking advantage of Eurydice, resulting in her stepping on a viper and died because of the bite.
Grieved, Orpheus played a song so mournful that even the gods felt sorry for him, advising him to go to the underworld and talk to Hades. When he arrived, he played the same melody to both Hades and Persephone, the two were so touched by it that they allowed him to take her back, but with only one condition; he couldn’t look back before he reached the surface. Managing to almost reach the exit, Orpheus looked back to see if Eurydice was fine, but as soon as he turned around, her spirit got swallowed back to the Underworld, only to be there for eternity.
In the game, you must guide the group through Tartarus, with the objective of reaching the top of it and finding a way to end the dark hour. At the end of the game, you sacrifice yourself to protect your loved ones and save the world.
    -          Persona 4
Yu Narukami, the gigachad himself. His initial persona is Izanagi, from The Fool Arcana. Izanagi and Izanami are the two creator Gods from the Japanese creation myth; one day, Izanami gave birth to Kagutsuchi, Japanese God of fire, who burned her to death as a result. Izanagi embraced himself, walking through the land of the death in search for Izanami. When he found her, he asked about returning with him to the land of the living, but she was already a part of this realm. Izanami answered that she was going to try to negotiate with the God of the underworld, asking Izanagi to wait for her, but he couldn’t resist the curiosity to se what was deeper inside. Looking once again for her, he’d find the rotting corpse of the goddess, making him flee in fear. Enraged, Izanami chased behind him, sending demon after demon after him, but it wasn’t enough to catch him. Once Izanagi reached the entrance, he placed a large boulder in front of it, blocking the entrance to the underworld. When Izanami reached the entrance, she said that she’d kill 1000 humans every day, but Izanagi replied that he’d create 1500 humans every day, breaking their bond for eternity.
Izanagi as Yu’s persona serves as a link to the rest of the cast’s personas, all of them coming from Japanese mythology.  This also relates to how Izanagi was able to turn the page of such a horrifying situation, being like how Yu must reach the truth and continue, not running away from his destiny.
  -          Persona 5
And so, we finally reach the end of this post, and what better character to end this with Ren Amamiya, better known as Joker. His persona is Arsene, from The Fool Arcana. Created by the French author Maurice Leblanc in 1905, Arsene Lupin is a gentleman burglar, who follows the same premise as Robin Hood of stealing from the rich and giving to the poor.
This character fits Joker so well, as they are on the good side, but work on the wrong side of justice, acting by their own image of it. Both target people with power as their objective, stealing their treasure and giving it to those who once were harmed by them.

Note
I need some Inuyasha as a great father (more like DILF, amirite?) headcanons, can you help me out?
I'm here to serve!
• It isn’t until they’re happily married for at least one or two years that the possibility of children are brought up.
• At first, they took that time to relearn each other, enjoy their company and make the honeymoon phase last a little long. They did spend three years apart, after all. There’s so much time to make up for, so many catching up to do before they’d even think to throw a kid into the mix. Plus, being a modern woman, Kagome would know how to avoid pregnancy the best her new circumstances allowed and how important that time alone is for a newly-married couple.
• They never actually had the child talk because Kagome just assumed that’s where their relationship would naturally lead to, given her motherly tendencies and Inuyasha’s history of ultimately giving her everything she wants. For his part, Inuyasha knew she wanted to be a mother someday and he'd be lying if he said he never indulged the fantasy of fathering her children. However, he has serious trouble wrapping his mind around the idea that, in reality, Kagome would still be up for it if he were to be the father. He could never dare to ask of her more than she has already given him. Be that as it may, it was not a big deal because it was not a dealbreaker. Nothing was.
• But with time, Kagome would have noticed how good Inuyasha is with Hisui and the Mirsan twins. How his relationship with Shippo had developed from a sibling banter to a makeshift paternal relationship. How people like Shiori and Bunza would look up to him like he was some kind of movie hero. How every kid in the village seemed to adore him despite his grumpy demeanor.
• And Inuyasha would have noticed the way Kagome would look at him whenever he so much as interacted with a child, the way her smell would spike significantly.
• She, of course, was the one to make the first move, jumping him one night, after they had spend the whole day stuck with babysitting the Mirsan children and popping the question.
• Inuyasha was relutant. There was a part of him that was adamant on making her happy and even believed having babies would make him happy too. On the other hand, he was terrified. Terrified of how her body would react to childbirth, of if her spiritual powers would accept his demonic energy. But mostly, about what would happen once the baby was born. The last thing he wanted was for Kagome to go through everything his mother had to go through. Or for another kid to face the same prejudice he did. Besides, he grew up with no father figure whose steps he could follow. He didn’t know how to be a father.
• Kagome assures him that they won’t have a baby until they’re both ready and on the same page, that they have time and that Inuyasha will be a great father.
• Inuyasha believes her.
• Then it is him felling some type of way whenever he sees Kagome around kids. And something deep inside desperately wishes to find out what would their children look like, what would it be like to hold and take care of someone born from their love.
• Finally, he caves.
• Inuyasha wants a big family, considering how lonely his childhood was. Kagome finds it pivotal for their first-born to have a sibling, since she had Sota and their relationship was one of the most important things in her life. That’s why they’d have two children minimum, preferably a boy and a girl. However, giving how dangerous and uncomfortable childbirth can be, especially without the perks the modern era provides, I don’t think they’d have more than three.
• Naturally, Inuyasha relies on Miroku for advice and the latter is more helpful than not. Except for the times Inuyasha asks or says something that makes it way too easy for Miroku to mess with him. Like the time he told Inuyasha that if he doesn’t get Kagome whatever food she craves while pregnant, the baby will be born looking exactly like that food. And Inuyasha believed him.
• And if you thought Inuyasha was protective of Kagome before... oh boy! He’d be almost overbearing, but Kagome would see it as endearing. Most of the time. Sometimes, though, a woman has got to have her privacy. He also becomes more attentive, more gentle, sweeter.
• After their first child is born, Inuyasha gets a makeover of sorts. He’s always borrowing the Fire Rat to Kagome and the baby anyway, so he figured it’d be more practical to just pass the clothes on to them already and get something new for himself.
• It’s white.
• Inuyasha becomes taller, stronger. And often lets Kagome experiment with his hair with braids, top nots... and ponytails.
• Old Myoga is the first one to notice the resemblance. And it’s true. He’s the spitting image of Toga. Former enemies and allies often mistaken him for Toga and Kagome thinks the look on their (and Inuyasha’s) face is hilarious.
• Sesshoumaru does not care for it (I stole this one from @heavenin--hell).
• Inuyasha hates his human nights even more because now his vulnerability also means he might not be able to protect his family as he usually would (Together Changed by @goshinote and @lostinfantasyworlds inspired this one). Plus, the black hair and lack of dog ears confuses the baby, who cries and fusses for a good while until realizing it is, in fact, Inuyasha holding them (this one I saw in an adorable fanart I can’t find).
• But since he needs way less sleeping than humans and he spends the New Moons up anyway, Inuyasha gets a lot of quality time with their infant at night, which allows Kagome to actually get a good night sleep unless the baby is hungry.
• The Beads of Subjugation get dooled and chewed on. A lot.
• A little contest takes place between Kagome and Inuyasha about what the first word of their first child would be, with Kagome going for “dada” and Inuyasha going for “mama.”
• Kagome wins.
• Inuyasha’s fighting style changes. He still says some snarky remarks, but now it’s more to push his opponent‘s buttons down so they would get sloppy than anything else. After all, he has a child to think about and provide for now. He doesn’t have the luxury of gambling with his life anymore. He has a home to come back to and therefore won’t be taking any chances (credit to @born-for-eachother for this one).
• And so he becomes more lethal on the battle field. Pragmatic. Objective. Calculating. Decisive. Cold blooded. Much like... Sesshomaru.
• He had never been more offended on his life than the day Sango pointed this out to him.
• When the kids grow up a bit, Inuyasha and Kagome start to tell them bedtime stories, with the PG version of the story about how the met and defeated Naraku being their favorite.
• Kagome tries to be a reliable and calm narrator while Inuyasha exaggerates the events and the voices, almost always breaking objects of their house in the process.
• After hearing one too many times about the Beads of Subjugation, their child tries to “sit” Inuyasha. Of course it doesn’t work, but he still makes a big deal out of throwing himself on the ground every time they say the word just to hear them laugh.
• The first actual toy Inuyasha buys them is a ball, just like the one he had as a kid, at the same time accomplishing a childhood wish through them and ensuring that they would always have someone to play with.
• Kagome is more protective of their physical state while Inuyasha is more protective of their emotional one (see Fist Fight by @omgitscharlie)
• Inuyasha goes to Totosai and asks him to make a weapon out of one of his fangs to each of their children once they get old enough for it. Not necessarily a sword, just something of their choice and that better fits their personality.
• He would be a just father, doing his best to show no favoritism, treat his children equally and make sure no one felt overlooked or unloved.
• But truth be told, if one of their babies turn out to be a daughter, he would definitelly let her get away with almost anything, no matter how much of a gremlin she is. Daddy’s little girl would have him wrapped around her tiny fingers.
• Life never treated Inuyasha kindly. From a very young age, it was kill or be killed. It wouldn't be too far off for him to think the exact same thing could happen with his kids, therefore he tries to prepare them, to tough them up so they can take it.
• And I believe this sentiment would be significantly amplified with a son, because it would involve the whole “suck it up”, “men don’t cry” and “man of the house” aspect of it. The “it is your duty to protect your mother and sister when I’m gone” too, especially because he couldn’t protect Izayoi himself.
• It’s “tough love”, but it’s love nonetheless. And in the right dose, which I believe Inuyasha manages to nail, it can be very important for one’s development and growth.
• But it’s hard to imagine him being as tough with a daughter. Probably because he sees so much of Kagome on her that the mere idea of seeing her cry simply breaks him.
• Kagome would actually have to step in when it comes to disciplining and saying “no”, because he simply wouldn’t have it in him to do so.
There’s actually a really nice post by @keichanz I reblogged a while ago discussing precisely that, but I can’t find it to save my life (should I start to properly tag my reblogs? No, it’s a lot of work and I’m right not to).
Anyway, that’s all I got for now.
Peace out.

When & how did you come to ship Jon & Sansa ? If Jon is the Florian to Sansa's Jonquil , then will there be a recreation of a scene between Jon & Sansa in godswood ( Jon dreams of Ygritte bathing in hot springs of Godswood ). This is very similar to how Florian first laid his eyes on Jonquil. Any thoughts ?
I read the books for the first time back in the end of 2010/beginning of 2011.
I fell in love with Sansa instantly. I also loved Jon since Bran I AGOT. But Sansa was always my favorite.
But I really got into the ASOIAF fandom after GOT S6 E4, four years ago. So blame Jon and Sansa.
For me Jon and Sansa reunion was very romantic, like two persons in love with each other meeting again, it was not like a siblings reunion. So after watching the episode I checked out all the internet and discovered I was not the only one that felt the same about their reunion. Then I did a research and found metas, essays, memes, gifsets and fanfiction, so I decided to re-read the books and later that year I wrote my first meta.
About Florian and Jonquil, there is certainly a resemblance between Jonquil’s Poole at Maidenpool and the hot springs at Winterfell, and Jon had that romantic fantasy of loving Ygritte there under the eyes of the Gods. But we don’t know much about the actual songs/stories about Florian and Jonquil. The things we know so far are the following:
The tales of Florian and Jonquil are full of Knight & Fool imagery.  Florian was a fool and a knight that appears in tales of the First Men; but knighthood only came to Westeros with the coming of the Andals. So Florian was not a proper Knight.
We also know that Florian was not of noble birth, he was homely, wore a suit of iron motley and bore a famous sword.
About Jonquil, we know that she was probably a girl from the Maidenpool at the Riverlands, and that she fell for Florian.
According to the songs, Florian first spied Jonquil and her sisters bathing in a pool at Maidenpool. The song "Six Maids in a Pool" may be one of songs about Florian and Jonquil.
Sansa’s favorite stories are the ones about Florian and Jonquil.
Sansa used the Knight & Fool imagery to save Dontos Hollard’s life. He was a drunk knight turned fool. Sansa called him “My Florian” but she wished he was younger, with strength and sword skills.
Thanks to The Hedge Knight tale, we know that during the Tourney of Ashaford, Tanselle, a tall Dornish girl, performed a puppets play about Florian and Jonquil. Dunk fell for the puppet girl and defended her from the cruelty of Prince Aerion Targaryen. Later, Dunk faced a Trial of Seven for hitting the prince.
Dunk didn’t find the blonde Lady Ashford to be a fair maid, and he thought that Tanselle was prettier. In a very similar way, Jon called the blonde princess Myrcella “stupid” and “insipid”, while calling Sansa “radiant”.
Dunk said that the puppets play of Florian and Jonquil was “sad and sweet both, with a sprightly swordfight at the end, and a nicely painted giant”.  Later, Egg added: “That was good,” Egg enthused. “I like how you make them move, Jonquil and the dragon and all. I saw a puppet show last year, but they moved all jerky. Yours are more smooth.”
So this particular song/story about Florian and Jonquil was:
Sad and Sweet.
Sprightly swordfight at the end.
A Giant was involved.
A Dragon was involved.
After Tanselle was attacked by Prince Aerion and Dunk was imprisoned for defending her, Tanselle left Ashford and Dunk didn’t see her again.
We also know that the love story of Jaehaerys and Alysanne was compared with Florian and Jonquil. After Alysanne knew about her betrothal with Orryn Baratheon, she told Jaehaerys about it and then they eloped and married in secret in Dragonstone. But Jonquil’s Pool and Maidenpool were not a pleasant memory for Alysanne. While pregnant with her first child, Alysanne suffered a murder attempt there.  Later she lost her first child and blamed the attack for her loss.
A similar story was replicated later with Prince Duncan Targaryen (Named after Dunk) breaking his betrothal with a Baratheon Lady, to marry Jenny of Oldstones, a girl from the Riverlands. This love story also resemblances Rhaegar and Lyanna, Jon’s parents.
GRRM took inspiration for the ASOIAF tourneys from one of his favorite books: IVANHOE by Sir Walter Scott. George fell for Elizabeth Taylor (She played Rebecca) after watching the film adaptation of the book. He described her in that movie as “radiant”.
Ivanhoe was banished by his father for loving Lady Rowena, his father’s ward. A love story between a boy and a girl that grew up together like siblings..........
The Knight and Fool imagery is heavily present in IVANHOE, but most evidently between King Richard the Lionheart, in disguise as a Mystery Knight (The Black Knight) and Wamba the Fool.
When Ivanhoe returns home after fighting in the crusades with King Richard the Lionheart, he met the Jews Isaac and her daughter Rebecca. Later in the story Rebecca is accused of witchery by the Catholic Church and Ivanhoe was her champion in her trial by combat. As you can see, The Hedge Knight tale was loosely inspired in IVANHOE.
After reconciling with his father, Ivanhoe got his permission to marry Lady Rowena. Rebecca and her father leave England. Despite being happy with Rowena, the book implies that Ivanhoe thinks too often about Rebecca.
There was a controversy for IVANHOE’s ending, because some readers wanted, and some still want, that Ivanhoe marries Rebecca instead of his childhood love Rowena.
And this detail (Rowena vs Rebecca) makes me think about the second Dunk & Egg tale, The Sworn Sword, where Dunk met Lady Rohanne Webber, a redhead Lady, that stirred Dunk’s sexual desire while he still thinks very platonically of Tanselle.
Personally, I found Rohanne very similar to Ygritte. And Dunk certainly liked Rohanne’s red hair, so much that he cut her long braid, a detail that I particularly dislike. I don’t find a man cutting a woman’s hair without her consent romantic.......... So far this is the one thing that I dislike about Dunk.
Dunk and Rohanne romance was doomed since the beginning because she was a Lady, while he thinks he is a bastard and that his unknown father is probably in the Night’s Watch, for being a thieve.
Anyway, later Lady Rohanne Webber became Lady Lannister, the grandmother of Tyrion, Cersei and Jaime Lannister. And since Dunk is Brienne’s ancestor, the eventual romance between Jaime and Brienne will be somehow a replication of Dunk and Rohanne.
Jon has a lot of fool imagery, starting with the famous line: “You know nothing, Jon Snow”. Jon is a descendant of the First Men, and he recalled Old Nan telling him stories about Florian the Fool. Jon is not a proper knight, despite being trained as one by a masters of arms. Jon worshiped the Old Gods and he is a Black Knight of the Wall.
Despite being a member of a Great House, Jon is a bastard. Jon is a younger version of Ned Stark, and Cat found Ned plain of face compared to Brandon. In contrast, Ygritte said that Jon’s face was “sweet”. Jon doesn’t wear motley but he has worn the clothes of a wildling and the black cloak of the Night’s Watch. Jon wields a famous sword of Valyrian steel, Longclaw.
We also have “Easy”, a steward of the Night's Watch. “Easy” is half-mad (A Fool), that believes himself to be Florian the Fool reborn.
Jon became the Lord Commander of the Night’s Watch, the same way Dunk became the Lord Commander of the Kingsguard. The Kingsguard’s vows were modeled after the Night’s Watch vows.
Sansa and Jon remember Winterfell while bathing in hot water, because its similar to the hot springs at Winterfell.
Jon is the reverse version of Joffrey, Sansa’s Baratheon betrothed:
Jon is a Targaryen prince disguised as a Stark bastard (His mother’s House).
Joffrey is a Lannister bastard disguised as a prince.
Unbeknown, Sansa helped his father to discover that Joffrey and his siblings were bastards.
Ned tried to saved Joffrey of Robert’s wrath, the same way he saved Jon of Robert’s wrath.
As you can see, Jon shares many traits and similarities not only with Florian the Fool but also with Dunk. And since George recycles stories, Jon and Sansa could resemble any of the stories mentioned here.
I have some metas about IVANHOE, the Tourney at Ashford Meadows, and the similarities between Jon and Dunk in my drafts, maybe one day I will finish them..........
Thanks for your message.

Fragments III, 1-100
300 drabbles about Steven Universe/Future, 100 words each! These are the first 100 prompts and writer’s choices that have been fulfilled.
Asterisks are placed next to my personal favorites that I’ve written.
Baggage* — Steven meets his new therapist!
Eternity —How about a Bellow interaction you've always wanted to see in canon but didn't get to?
Foe —Jasper is simultaneously satisfied and yet left deeply empty inside by her self-isolation on Earth, and doesn't understand how to even begin to process this dichotomy. (So she doesn’t.)
Letter — Young Greg's POV when he wrote those letters to his parents Steven found on Mr. Universe episode.
Sword —Connie interacting with someone she doesn't usually talk to by herself (ex Jasper, Bismuth, Lapis, etc.).
Reconciliation — Idk about you but I wanna see more Mega Pearl. The others have not met Mega Pearl.
Marks —How about... Spinel, and the tiny, everyday baby steps towards healing?
Tangled — Peridot finds out/is told about PD/RQ? (And is confirmed in her guess that Pearl is fancy...?)
Challenge* — How is Steven’s TubeTube channel doing?
Bruises — Priyanka tends to Connie's wounds after training sessions with Pearl. [Writer’s Choice]
Rest* — Yellow Diamond gets to relax. (She's the one who most expresses regret and real understanding. Let her take a nap! She deserves it!)
Barbecue* — Post-movie, during cleanup, Steven and Lars talk and plan the BBQ we got a glimpse at during the final song.
Ghost — Yellowtail and Greg talk about fatherhood and how it can be ruined (mentioning Marty and Greg's father subtly).
UNO* — Date between Pearls (platonic or otherwise).
Height — The pebbles!!! They're so small???? Where are they? *Sobs, points at the Heaven and Earth Beetles.*
Embrace — Steven gets a well-deserved cuddle pile from family and friends.
Constructs — Bismuth and Peridot have a lot more in common than they think.
Horns — Amethyst makes an unexpected new friend at Little Homeschool. (Whichever other character you feel would fit best!)
Garden — Pre-show scene. While having a funny chat, Greg mentions something that reminds Rose about her abandoning Spinel, which makes her regret more of her choices.
Advice — Garnet can tell when Stevonnie has a lot on their mind. [Writer’s Choice.]
Hum — Yellow and her relationship with music.
Love* — Pearl considering her romantic feelings towards someone and thinking about how she's finally moving on from Rose. (Doesn't mean she'll ever forget her.)
Kid — A glimpse into “Sadie Killer.” Maybe when they played their first show, while Steven was still in the band. Celebrating afterward or a discussion on why Steven didn't stay IN the band?
Troubleshooting* — Integration of gem communication networks and Earth Internet and phone lines and the resulting inevitable disaster.
Fairytale — Connie gets a tour of Little Homeworld.
Hope — Jasper finally starting to let her guard down and realize her self worth.
Song* — As for prompts... Steg? Like, him in general, just being himself. It's a bummer we only got to see him in the movie.
Mistakes* — Steven talking to someone (not a therapist, just another character) about his trauma?
Forgiveness — The Topaz fusion reconnects with the Crystal Gems at Little Homeschool and apologizes for her role in the kidnapping all those years ago.
Visions — Sapphire and Ruby reflect on the events of "Together Forever." [Writer’s Choice]
Reunited — Maybe a scene where Yellow comes home from a long escapade and is reunited with a worried Spinel?
Beginnings — After CYM, Lapis and Peridot discuss where to live since the barn is destroyed.
Pet* — White Diamond happily announces one day that she has decided to take in a small creature (of your choosing) as a pet.
Together — What were Doc, Army, Navy, and Leggy doing during Future?
Desert — Steven meeting Lion from Lion's perspective. I dunno, I think it could be neat.
Freedom — For a post-CYM/SU:F prompt, what do you think about the exact moment it hit either Blue or Yellow Pearl that they were completely free to follow their whims?
Apologies — Greg apologizes to Steven due to the incident in “Mr. Universe” and both have the talk they should've had in that episode.
Change — Blue and Yellow Zircon's relationship has improved even if they are now rivals in the new democratic Homeworld. This last tiny bit is related to the “Homeworld Bound” episode.
Hug — Bellow cuddling. Yellow has no idea what to do, but Blue is loving it.
Valentine* — Steven gives Peridot a Valentine's Day gift. [Writer’s Choice]
Spite — Aquamarine and Eyeball are distraught at knowing they won't be rewarded for their actions because their worst enemy, Steven Universe, has been labeled a hero and royalty by the Diamonds.
Reevaluation — How about more Peedee and Steven friendship? Like, Peedee noticing Steven’s change in demeanor the farther along the show we get?
Camp — Connie kicking ass at space camp.
Family — The night after the events of the movie, Steven gets some quality family time.
Homestretch — Peridot, Lapis, and Bismuth spend time together while preparing Little Homeworld.
Enough — We know what Jenny, Sour Cream, and Buck are gonna do for their futures, but what's Kiki been up to? Is she gonna take over the pizzeria?
Spillage — Vidalia and Amethyst catch up after Steven's monster episode.
Reformation — White Diamond has learned how to be so extremely empathetic to the point that she literally becomes another person, but has she really begun to understand others?
Comment* — Sardonyx makes some Internet videos.
Unicorn — While traveling through California, Steven encounters two fishermen arguing about unicorns. [SU/GF crossover.] [Writer’s Choice]
Worry — Andy and Greg stay in touch.
Homerun* — I hopal for Opal—perhaps she will attempt some baseball.
Skydancer — Post-CYM, Pearl getting to “truly” take Steven out for a joy ride through the cosmos in a properly operational ship of her design.
Mercy* — The shattering-is-wrong discussion between Rose and Bismuth that led to Bis being bubbled.
Happy — Smoky Quartz hasn't made a self deprecating joke in a while—is it Steven's therapy?
Electric* — Yellow’s gloves—I feel like they’re covering something up, maybe.
Cake — Fusion Cuisine 2: Electric Boogaloo.
Belonging — The Rose Quartz sisters visit again.
Transcendence — Fluorite offers someone wise caterpillar grandma advice.
March — Connie and Steven reflect on changes in life after the pandemic. Not canon compliant. [Writer’s Choice.]
Understanding — Onion be doing Onion things.
Ocean* — Andy and Steven post-”I Am My Monster”? I love their relationship, lol.
Ignorance* — Does Lapis even realize Bismuth was probably the one who poofed her?
Reflection — Did I already say more Mega Pearl? ‘Cause there can never be enough Mega Pearl.

Sin City Bombshells
For this post, I am going to be analyzing the following female characters: Nancy, Wendy, Gail, Miho, and Shellie. I am going to be going in depth about Lucille in another post, when I discuss lesbians. I know it’s a lot, but each of these characters represent a different spectrum of female sexuality, and to a certain extent, objectification. Most of the significant female characters are in the sex industry, as prostitutes or strippers, respectively.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
First, we have Nancy Callahan, played by Jessica Alba. Her story is brought by Bruce Willis’ character, John Hartigan, saving her when she was a child from a child predator. They part for several years and meet again in the future when Hartigan gets out of jail. He sees her as a 19 year old working as a stripper. She tells him that she never stopped thinking about him and has fallen in love with him. It is implied that they start dating afterwards. I don’t mind an age gap in relationships but this one rubbed me the wrong way. Hartigan met her as an 11 year old and he was grown. Now that she is older, she is viewed as a sexual object. I think that this represents the barely legal fetish that a lot of men carry. Along with this, Nancy is the perfect example of the stereotypical image of a stripper. She is a young woman (college age, fresh out of high school) with a heavy baggage of childhood trauma mixed with potential daddy issues. I think she fell in love with Hartigan because he saved her as her lowest. A savior, of sorts. I expected her to have a bigger role in the story because she is a huge name and is even on the cover. She only appears for a small bit and was only accompanied by Hartigan. She is constantly sexualized by her now stripper job and her kidnapping. I think it would have been a cool idea if Hartigan and her teamed up, like a Batman and Robin situation. Her role as a film noir trope is the “The good-bad girl stands in between the girl-next-door and the femme fatale, which highlights her moral ambiguity” (Barroso). Nancy has an innocent image (as we remember her from the beginning of the movie as a child), however, is now grown and had a darker moral code. Her becoming a sex worker also ruptures her moral ambiguity. Some still believe that being involved in the sex industry is immoral and evil.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Next is Wendy. She is played by Jamie King. Wendy is the twin sister of Goldie, Marv’s prostitute lover. The reason she is given that name is the striking image of her soft golden billowing hair. Goldie was killed, hence Marv (Mickey Rourke) going on the hunt to find her killer. He blames himself for her murder and goes on a revenge spree to avenge her as he couldn’t save her previously. Since the beginning, she is framed in a sexual lens. She is described as an angel sent from heaven. She is naked the second the audience sees her in a passionate lovemaking scene. She is enveloped in light. Dana Leventhal observes, “The men idealize, romanticize, pine for the women by placing them on impossible pedestals (circumscribed by sexuality and desire) as cherished imaginings and visions, and through this possession make it their duty to guard and safekeeping them, especially since the women are jeopardized or victimized by brutal crime and injustice” (Leventhal). He finds out that Goldie has a twin, Wendy. Wendy is hardened and dead set on revenge, as she should be. She is a no nonsense type of woman. Wendy is tough and willing to bring the murderers to justice. She is still sexualized, nonetheless, as Marv always compared her to her sister, and viewed her the same way. Donaldson writes, “The women of classic noir are often alluring, moral ambiguous, and two steps ahead of the men in the story” (Donaldson). Wendy is alluring, as she starkly resembles her prostitute twin sister. She is morally ambiguous as she is dark and calculating, yet she joins Marv (the anti-hero) on avenging the wrongful murder of her sister. Wendy is one of my favorite characters as I liked how merciless she was.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Gail, played by Rosario Dawson, serves as one of two women of color characters. That is a discussion for another day, as I am going to be analyzing her character. She is the femme fatale. Barroso defines the trope as, “The femme fatale...is mysterious and seductive, known for using her charms to ensnare men and get them into dangerous, and most often, deadly situations. Her main characteristic is using her feminine sexual traits as a way to achieve hidden purposes” (Barroso). She is tough and isn’t going down without a fight. She is the epitome of female empowerment in the eyes of men: tough and battle ready, and looks good doing it. From the picture alone, she is scantily clad. She looks great and I like her outfit but I know the reason why she is dressed like this. She is cunning and commanding. She resembles and reminds me of a dominatrix. Sexually dangerous and isn’t afraid to beat down men. She has masculine traits like being the leader of the gang and she is gritty and domineering. She kills men in a severely violent manner and is strong and self sufficient.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I freaking love Miho. She is, by far, my favorite character in the film. The movies that Devon Aoki appears in, her characters always reign supreme. There is a reason Suki from 2 Fast 2 Furious is still so popular and raved about. However, there is something I hated about her character. She didn't say a word. Her character is the epitome of age old Asian stereotypes: the silent ninja. Miho would strike her sword on her opponents in the same “badass” manner as a ninja would. Her character had so much potential and I feel like it was a waste to have her be silent the entire time. Both her and Gail are the tough girls in the film. Leventhal writes, “The women are not helpless, powerless, or weak; rather, they are cunning and battle-ready. Not only do they refrain from asking for help from the male protagonists, but they either resist or fight to save themselves from their enemies” (Leventhal). Miho is presented differently from the other girls of the film. Her, along with Gail, are not the average damsel in distress, which I like. Laura Woodhouse rants, “Miho...initially appears to be the only truly powerful woman in Sin City. She is not possessed by a man, she is not a victim, she is certainly not physically passive as she goes on to kill many more men and can easily win a fight with any man...It is almost as though Miho is a different creature, a member of a race of silent killers that exist only to perform acts of violence. Quite simply, she cannot be presented as a ‘normal’ female because she has superior killing skills to a man and this threatens the patriarchal nature of Sin City. The creators of Sin City rob Miho of a voice in order to justify her power” (”The F Word”).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Last, but not least, there is Shellie. Played by the late Brittany Murphy, she is a prostitute. Her costume in her major story arc is a black underwear set with a white oversized button down shirt. Given that she was in her own home and she is allowed to wear what she wants, but it rectifies the stereotype that women walk around their home scantily clad, sexually available for overnight guests. Along with that, it fits her day job of being eyed on by the voyeuristic audience. Shellie is conceived as the victim character; she needs the help of her boyfriend to save her from her deranged pimp of a boss. Leventhal notes, “the traditional formulations or projections of femininity as sexuality are retained, as are the concomitant age-old misogynistic conceits of male domination/paternalism in the guise of safety and defense of women, i.e., the cliche that women are weak and need rescuing by men from other men” (Leventhal). Shellie mirrors the poor princess locked up in a tower, needing her Prince Charming to come and save her.

Well, here he is.
Not too many expressed an interest in my character for my novel, but that’s okay. I’m sharing him, anyway.
Why?
Because I love him. That’s why.
I also really think others will love him, too.
Because you expressed verbal interest: @khemz1312 @olivenight17 @xxblackfeathersxx
Warning: Some NSFW material is included in his information.
Name: Grimm (short for Grimmwolf)
Age: unknown, he’s been around since around the dawn of all creation
Species: His species does not have a name in any modern language as he and his brother are the only two left. He is not human and he can transform into a giant black wolf at will that is roughly the size of a sedan. NOT a werewolf. Calling him that is actually an insult to him and will piss him off.
Characteristics: Short black hair that he wears half slicked back. Not quite neat, but not quite messy. He’s nearly seven feet tall at 6′10″ and is lean, but muscular. He wears an eye patch over his left eye, which is an electric blue - though no one ever sees it unless he removes it. Which he doesn’t. His other eye is a golden yellow. Grimm carries a sword as a weapon, though he rarely uses it. Though slightly rugged, he’s very handsome. His ears are pierced and are slightly pointed, but is otherwise human in appearance. True to his wolfish side, he knots when he has sex.
He has a wolf familiar that follows him by the name of Neoma. He saved her life and she has stayed by his side ever since. Neoma was a normal wolf to begin with, but, because of Grimm, she has been granted immortality - though she can still be killed. She has a human form that resembles a small child, but she cannot speak in human tongue.
Personality: An absolute playboy. This man is a tease and takes very little seriously. He does, however, take life and death very seriously. He has a soft and gentle heart, but it is not to be taken as weakness. He has no problem facing confrontation. Pansexual; he doesn’t care about gender or species, he’ll sleep with anyone or anything, once he’s set his mind to it. He’s very charismatic and few are immune to his charms. His favorite sex position is “doggy” style simply because he finds the name hilarious and can’t get over the irony. He, no joke, chuckles every. single. time he uses it.
Background: This is something that Grimm is very secretive of. He does not openly speak about the details of his past. I have decided not to go into his past too much as that is something I wish to disclose within my novel. I will reveal this much, however:
The eye patch he wears over his blue eye is to conceal a curse that was placed upon him by his creator, the moon goddess. This curse was given to him as a means to an end that involves his twin brother, who killed their entire clan and made it look like Grimm was the culprit. So, the goddess placed the curse on him and tasked him with hunting down his own brother to reveal the truth.
The curse is called “Judgement”. Anyone Grimm looks upon with the cursed eye is judged to be “good” or “evil”. If the weight of that person’s actions are evil, then the curse takes over Grimm’s body, forcing him to transform and kill the person. Grimm wears the eye patch to avoid activation the curse.
As it is a curse, however, it has other drawbacks. If he goes too long without “judging” someone, the curse will draw out his wolf form against his will and send him in a rampage. To combat this, Grimm has found herbs, which includes wolfs bane, to quell and suppress the curse. He smokes the herbs as hand rolled cigarettes and is almost constantly lighting up a new one. Luckily, the smoke they expel is pleasant smelling, so he doesn’t have to worry about his breath smelling bad.
-----------------------------------
Grimm’s appearance is based heavily off of an anime character that I happened upon during a Google image search. The character’s name is Shokudaikiri Mitsutada from the anime Touken Ranbu: Hanamaru. It’s based off of a video game, I believe, and was much more popular in Japan, though it’s now available on Funimation. This is the character:
Tumblr media
No, Grimm does NOT wear a tracksuit. He does, however, wear gloves to protect his hands from being calloused by the hilt of his sword.
Here is a picrew I did for Grimm to kinda give you an idea of what he looks like and his personality:
Tumblr media
He’s very clean cut and always wants to look presentable. Sometimes, however, he will grow a bit of scruff on his jawline when he’s feeling a bit lazy. It never lasts more than a few days, though.
----------------------------------------------------------
Well, that’s it! That’s my precious Grimm~
I love him wholly and he’s so much fun to play with. I love that I could adjust little details here and there to fit him into any fandom I wanted to if I felt like writing fics with him. I recently made him into a DnD character and it’s been a blast.
Please feel free to ask me about my bby boi and I’ll be more than happy to share~!

Fate 21, 22, 23
Tumblr media
Now because of the very nature of Fate and Fate Grand Order in particular, you can make the arguments that there aren’t a whole lot of crack ships in general? Now if we’re talking about the regular ol’ human and mage characters then that’s one thing and I don’t have any strong opinions on that. Ship what you want as long as it’s not, like, incest or pedophilia.
However if we’re talking servants or ships that involve servants?? Understand I’m going to mostly talk about FGO because that’s the part of the franchise I’m most familiar with, but
One of the most popular ships is literally between the alternate darker versions of Jeanne d’Arc and King Arthur who is also a woman in this.
Now there’s context for this but that doesn’t make that sentence not buck wild, right? Another ship the game teases is between Martha (like, Saint Martha) and Sasaki Kojiro who is technically one of many possible nameless swordsmen who can take up the mantle of Sasaki Kojiro by taking up and mastering his techniques. As far as ships I’ve seen art of, there’s Semiramis and Amakusa, Gilgamesh and Arturia (King Arthur but woman, also this ship is one of divided opinion for very good reason), and even Tesla and Thomas Edison. You know, Tesla and the guy that stole his inventions--oh but let’s not forget that in the Fateverse Thomas Edison is merged with all of the American presidents which for some reason makes him a fucking buff punch wizard with the head of a LION.
I’m rambling, but my point is: by the very nature of Fate, there aren’t a whole lot of characters you can stick together and properly call it a crack ship. It’s one part of the ridiculous that I love about Fate, which is that you don’t have to go out of your way to imagine any number of scenarios between all sorts of colorful characters.
Tumblr media
This is....Hard for me to answer. Very hard.
So, the thing is, there aren’t any popular characters I can say that I hate. Either because the popular characters in the Fateverse tend to be popular for more reasons beyond the fact that they’re pretty (The original VN was an eroge, yes, but that was because of marketing. You take out or ignore the eroge scenes and you have a well-written, interesting visual novel) OR it’s because I just simply don’t have enough context for that character.
For the latter, let me use Tamamo and Nero for example. These are two characters that I KNOW are popular. They’re also characters I’m not super fond of--however, that’s possibly because I don’t know them well enough. I’ve played through Fate Grand Order and Fate Extella Link. I’m currently playing through Fate Extra for the first time, but I’m on Archer’s route. I have not played Extella Link or the other two routes in Extra, I have not watched a playthrough of CCC yet, I have not watched Last Encore, I have not read Foxtail, I have not played through Extella.
That’s a lot of context, story, and character for those two that I haven’t experienced yet. I don’t like Nero’s character in FGO because they try to erase everything she did wrong in life, or just sweep it under the rug. However, I’ve heard that she’s written much better in the game that she debuts in, Fate Extra, and that the loose anime adaptation of it, Last Encore, has something good too.
Tamamo just...Bores me. But! I know even less of her character than Nero. It’s way too soon for me to say whether or not I dislike her when I’m only taking her at face value.
I may not like the two of them for now, but my answer may change once I have all the information.
Again, I can’t say that I there are any popular characters I hate, however...
Robin Hood (pretty sure he’s at least fairly popular) is one character that I do like, but not nearly as much as I’ve seen. I just...Don’t really get the hype? Again, haven’t played through Extella or watched someone play CCC but I HAVE played past his roles in Extra and FGO. Like I like him but I can’t say he’s a favorite of mine, or even near that spot.
Nightingale, however...Nightingale I don’t like. I don’t hate her but I don’t like her either. There were spans of time in the America singularity that I was either bored or annoyed with because of her. Does she make good points and say some dope shit occasionally? Yeah. Most of the rest of her dialogue however felt very very repetitive. Like yes I know that your shtick is that you’re a nurse and you’re here to treat the illness and disease in the singularity and Cu Alter is a prime candidate for treatment because his character as he is in that current iteration is diseased, yes yes yes. But there’s only so many times I can read her talk about illness and disease before it starts to get on my nerve. Yeah she has Madness Enhancement EX, but you know who else does? Saber Gilles. Cu Alter has it too, and they’re both coherent. Also, and more importantly, I fucking hate her pose. The art in her ascensions is fine, but the pose?? I get what it’s supposed to be but it looks so stiff. It’s an insignificant detail but she looks like a balloon person and it’s upsetting.
Tumblr media
There are...A few. But I’m gonna talk the most in detail about one of my earliest favorites when I first got into Fate. I just mentioned him, actually.
Saber Gilles. I need to specify the class because his Caster self and Saber self are completely different (well, no? It’s complicated) and Saber is the one that’ll always hold a place in my heart.
Because I have a very soft spot for pious people who are goaded by a darker side and struggle with that darkness. Saber Gilles de Rais is not the infamous Bluebeard. Saber Gilles de Rais is the man that came before Bluebeard, the one who was known for fighting alongside Jeanne d’Arc. Saber Gilles is lawful good while Caster Gilles is Chaotic Evil. At a glance, these two are completely different, but the horrifying (and there’s beauty in that horror) truth is that he’s not. And nobody feels that horror quite like Saber Gilles himself.
Fate Grand Order tells of Gilles’ struggle not through words, but through visuals.
Tumblr media
In his first ascension, you have him in his ‘purest’ state. You can literally call him a knight in shining armor. This is the honorable man that fought alongside Jeanne, plain and simple.
Then you have the second ascension, and you can immediately tell he’s been tainted. Something isn’t right. His cloth is bloodied, some of his armor has been stripped away and you can see a bit of a dark cloak resembling what he wore as Bluebeard--having replaced that white cape. In his hand he holds a sword. His armor has become sharper, more detailed. He is still a general, yes, but something in him has changed.
Then, the third ascension. It’s a dramatic change. One thing to note is that when servants ascend, they generally gain something in appearance, but Gilles? Gilles has lost. More than half his armor is gone, and now you can very plainly see that Bluebeard-esque garment underneath. The chestpiece bearing a cross? Gone. Every piece of white cloth? Gone. And in his left hand he holds Prelati’s Book. For context, Prelati is the being that convinced Gilles to give into his darker impulses and that led to Bluebeard, or Caster Gilles. That book is also what Caster Gilles wields. In this third ascension we finally see the man who struggles with and fears what he knows he becomes.
Again, Saber Gilles is not Caster Gilles, cannot but Caster Gilles, but the two are not so different. Caster Gilles is not an alter of Saber Gilles, after all, but rather the two are the same man at different points in his life. As we ascend him we see him transverse the point between when he is a man with strength in his convictions, to a man fighting an inner conflict and change that is coming but will never come to him. Servants generally don’t change much because they are aspects of heroic spirits, but Saber Gilles has to change.
Tumblr media
It’s even reflected in his battle sprites. Notice the change in the third sprite? His smile and optimism: gone.
Then, we get to his final ascension art.
Tumblr media
THIS. This is still one of my favorite final ascension arts if not my favorite. I’m pretty sure I can’t say anything about it that I haven’t already said above, so I think it’s okay to let the image speak for itself. It’s so fucking beautiful and telling all on it’s own. The angel and devil over your shoulder imagery. Note how it’s not the side with the angel that’s closer to the viewer, that’s in the foreground. I love everything about this piece and if I could buy this as a big poster to hang up in my room I would do that in a heartbeat.
I just love Saber Gilles so, so much. The way he’s written has me smitten. I know it likely won’t ever happen, but I desperately wish he gets another interlude in the future, or a serious role in an event.
...Okay, so I did want to discuss some others but this post is long enough, so I’ll just say some other unpopular characters I love are Fionn Mac Cumhaill, Amadeus Mozart, Fergus, Yagyu (more underrated than unpopular), CALIGULA, Mephistopheles, PHANTOM, Gilgamesh (NOT unpopular just decisive and one of my big favs so I have to mention him), and Salieri if he counts. Really tried to get a lady in there but I can’t think of any that are unpopular. I’m only thinking of the FGO cast because the roster is already so long.
I wouldn’t mind (read: I would LOVE) if someone asked this question again so I can go into detail about some of my other unpopular favorites. I have more that err on the more popular side too, because my heart is big and full of love. OR just straight up send me an ask, anon or not, because I have a lot to say.
Sorry about the long post and thank you for the questions!!

I would like a match up if that is alright. I am a 22 year old bi woman. I am a Bioinformatics (bio + comp sci) student who focuses on viruses. In my spare time I like to draw, read, play games, and sew. My favorite genres are horror and fantasy. In friend groups, I tend to end up being the "mom friend" making sure everyone is okay. I am also a part of a historical recreation group where I am currently learning how to sword fight. Hopefully that is enough. Thank you for your time.
I, Ferdinand von Aegir, match you with...
Seteth
Tumblr media
As if Mom friend and Dad friend separately wasn't good enough, combined you are the parent friends
Everyone knows that they can turn to you guys if they ever need any advice
And if one of you can't help, the other somehow miraculously can
You both have had multiple friends call you Mom/Dad at some point and at this point you don't think it's on accident anymore
Seeing you care for your friends and watching you check up on them never ceases to make him absentmindedly smile
He's taken aback when you inform him about your historical recreation group and how you are learning how to wield a sword, but he absolutely loves the idea (as long as you don't get hurt)
Although, it may take some time Seteth will try and learn the basics of your hobby
Seteth absolutely adores your intelligence
The more you ramble about bioinformatics and what you are currently learning, the more he falls in love with you
It's rare that Seteth has someone explain something to him, but he loves every second of it
If you sew him anything, he will keep it forever and cherish it
Scratch that, if you create anything for him (whether written, drawn, or sewn) he will cherish it with his whole heart
His room is littered with everything you've made him
Watching horror movies with Seteth can be… Interesting
He always confident that the movie the two of you picked won't scare him, and for the most part he's right and you two can enjoy the movie in peace
But if the movie involves a father/daughter duo or any character that resembles yourself, he's beside himself
He will walk out of the room to call Flayn and make sure she's okay
"Are you absolutely sure you're okay, Flayn? Is your door locked? How about your window? Do you hear any strange sounds? Anything? Any nightmares?"
And with horror movies involving a character that resembles you, he is constantly holding your hand, his grip tight, and he will be looking back and forth between the movie and you

A Lady’s Armour - Some thoughts on Sansa Stark’s season 8 black dress (part 1)
Tumblr media
Game of Thrones is moving towards the endgame and promo season is upon us. That means teaser trailers, photo shoots and posters - and it also means a sneak peak at some of the new costumes. I’m a big fan of Michele Clapton’s work on the show so I’m really excited to see some of the new costumes, especially for the female characters.
Not long ago Sophie Turner revealed that Sansa Stark would get an all-black new costume made of leather - and she characterized it as a kind of armour:
“This is the first time I’ve had armor,” Sophie Turner tells EW. The costume is not Jaime Lannister or Brienne of Tarth-style metal armor, but more like a jet-black ensemble made of thick leather or similar material. (Sophie Turner, Entertainment Weekly)
This quote provoked a lot of discussion among Sansa fans - some loved the idea while others hated it. However, we were all thrilled that to know that she got a new costume because at that point the teaser trailers and the still photos only showed Sansa wearing costumes from season 7.
Tumblr media
The costumes in question were the charcoal dress with the feathered bodice and another grey piece with patterned fabric. She also wore her signature Stark furs.
Tumblr media
Luckily, the new ForTheThrone posters and the big EW photo spread gave us a look at one of Sansa’s new costumes: a spectacular black dress (with a blue tint?) made up of soft and glossy leather.
Tumblr media
It looks to be an intricate piece made up of a staggering amount of tiny leather flaps sew together in an overlapping pattern, which creates a richly textured surface. I’m can’t wait to see it on the screen, in motion, because it promises to be a show-stopping piece.
The question is, of course, whether this dress is the costume that Sophie Turner refers to - but unless she has two jet-black leather costumes, I think it is safe to say that this textured leather dress is the armour costume that Turner refers to. However, it doesn't look armour in a practical sense - it is not a garment that will block a weapon. Rather, it is a protective garment in a more symbolic sense. The leather dress covers the actress from neck to ankle and it incorporates the heavy leather belt that wraps around her torso, which is an element that was designed to convey how Sansa emotionally protects herself after all the abuse she has suffered:
“All the characters’ costumes are a consequence of the journey and lifestyle,” Clapton states, particularly referencing a favorite piece of hers — Sansa’s belt. “This is her taking back control of her body. I designed it to wrap around over her side-laced dress to represent the absolute removal of any possible physical touch. Her dresses are also tightly-laced on, incredibly difficult to remove.” (Michele Clapton, Making Game of Thrones)
“With one of the key pieces this year, I wanted it to look as if she was actually sewn or laced into her dress—like there was no way in. So I designed a belt that comes around the neck, across the chest and around the waist. She’s trying to protect herself from all the awfulness that’s happened. It’s a form of armor. It will be interesting to see how that moves forward.” (Michele Clapton, Elle)
With this new dress we see the same effect. Sansa’s body is tightly bound and completely encased in this second skin of leather - and that certainly plays into the idea that Sansa’s costumes express how she’s building walls to protect herself. However, Sophie Turner also said something interesting about this new dress:
“We the idea of it being very protective and she buttons herself up,” Turner says. “I wanted her to have a bit of armor and be a bit more warrior like. She’s like the warrior of Winterfell.” (Sophie Turner, EW)
So Sansa is still armoured - but it isn’t just about keeping people at arm’s length anymore but also a reflection of the fact that battle against the Army of the Dead is finally here and that she is ready for war. So it is about protection but also a battle dress signalling that Sansa is a leader, a warrior of Winterfell on the symbolic level. She isn’t going to wield a sword but she is involved in organizing the defense, we saw that in season 7.
There’s a stylistic continuity to the new costume in that it has almost the same silhouette as her season 7 costumes. It is the colour and the material that has changed. The only other difference is the absence of the shoulder tabs that characterized Sansa’s dresses in season 7. We don’t know when Sansa will wear this new black leather dress but I think she’ll wear it in the 2nd and/or 3rd episode (when the big battle most likely will take place at Winterfell). I don’t think this dress will incarnate Sansa’s final style at the end of the story.
Tumblr media
I my opinion, this is very much a transitional costume. It keeps the general silhouette of her season 7 costumes with the high neck and the hidden side-lacing on the front of the bodice. It also keeps the belt and it looks as though the feathers that adorns the bodice of the season 7 dress has spread entirely over the new black dress. So, no, this is most likely not Sansa’s only new costume nor the final one she’ll wear on the show.
A MATTER OF TEXTURE
As the photos show, Sansa’s new black gown is heavily textured - an effect that is created by what looks to a multitude of tiny leather flaps sewn together to create a kind of scaly appearance. This texture is really what draws the eye, mainly because it covers the entire dress but also because the material is very different from the more muted and discrete textures of Sansa’s season 7 costumes (@lostlittlesatellites has written a great essay on the subject of the textures in the season 7 costumes).
Tumblr media
The question is: Is this visually extravagant texture just an aesthetic feature or does it have symbolic meaning? The answer is: Yes! Michele Clapton has always approached costume design in terms of narrative where patterns, colours and embroidery all tell a story about the characters. However, in regard to season 7 she really emphasized how the costumes are saturated with meaning:
We try to be really symbolic about everything everyone wears now.” (Michele Clapton, Insider)
So when every detail is has meaning, when the elements of a costume are symbolic, what does the scaly texture of Sansa’s black leather dress signify? There are several options, which I’ll consider in the following section.
Dragonglass?
I’ve seen several people mention dragonglass (obsidian) in relation to this dress, probably due to the bluish iridescence we can see in the photos and because the dress has been described as armour and obsidian is a hard substance that can protect people against the White Walkers.
Tumblr media
There is a certain resemblance when we put a photo of the dress and a piece of chipped obsidian side by side - and there certainly is a similarity between the blue tint of this dress and the way dragonglass looks in the cold North (where the scenes are often filmed with a blue tint).
Tumblr media
The dress appears blue-black and very shiny in the photos but we have to take into account that the lighting for a photo shoot is much stronger than the lighting on the show and we also have to remember that the photos have been through a photo editing program, which may have enhanced the bluish shine. It is possible that the leather isn’t jet-black like Sophie said but has a bluish tint and it is possible that it has been treated in a way that makes it reflect light more than usual. It is hard to tell what is Photoshop, what is an effect of the lighting and what is the dress itself with the pictures we have - even when we zoom in on a photo taken in daylight.
Tumblr media
However, jet-black is a glossy black colour - and if the leather is shiny and glossy as all the photos strongly suggest, then reflected light will show up as dark blue.
Initially, I wasn’t really sold on the idea that that this dress could evoke dragonglass but in a private discussion @lostlittlesatellites presented some interesting arguments, such as the visual similarities between the dragonglass in Gendry’s smithy (seen in the trailer) and the photos of Sansa’s dress. She also suggested that a dragonglass reference could work as an image of strength but also as another type of “glass” as a foil to the brittle glass pieces that adorns Cersei’s season 7 costumes (x).
Tumblr media
“I mean with Cersei I wanted to show this brittleness to her. So I started adding these jagged edges and points to what she was wearing. I’m trying to give clues to their situation, to subtly show when the characters are feeling strong, when they are feeling weak.” (Michele Clapton, The Independent)
Sansa and Cersei have a complicated relationship and that has manifested in the costumes as well (x). Narratively, they are foils to each other so if Cersei’s excessive adornment signals a brittle strength, then Sansa’s unadorned but textured gown externalizes an inner strength that has evolved over the course of her story. This is, after all, power dressing taken to the ninth degree.
I’m still not quite sold on the dragonglass argument since the stylistic elements of the dress echo elements that have previously been associated with Sansa - feathers from her time in the Eyrie and fish scales as a nod to her Tully heritage through her mother. I’ve mentioned that I think this is a transitional dress and as such it builds on the stylistic and symbolic approach that Clapton took with Sansa’s costumes in season 7 where they visually express all of the things that has happened to her - the abuse and the lessons:
“...she’s bringing all that she’s been through to her costume.” (Michele Clapton, The Insider)
I was trying to grasp all that has happened to Sansa, all the hurt and abuse and frustration, and trying to understand how she would express this yet appear strong. She adapts all she has learnt to her look.” (Michele Clapton, The HuffPost)
The fact that it is a kind of armour or battle dress also represents a further hardening due to the seriousness of the circumstances that Clapton spoke about in the previous season:
“There’s war coming. Everything’s quite muted and quite bleak. I think it’s important for the four women left to have a very strong—it’s not masculine, there’s still a femininity to it—but there’s a sort of hardening. Each one of them has been through such a journey, so I tried to reflect that in their costumes.” (Michele Clapton, Harper’s Bazaar)
The dragonglass theory certainly fits with this notion of a hardening in the face of war. Still, it is a theory I’m not completely sold but it did make me recall this wonderful Magician’s Cloak that Sandy Powell created for Prospera in Julie Taymor’s adaptation of William Shakespeare’s The Tempest.
Tumblr media
This magnificent costume was created from 3.000 pieces of plastic painted and cut to resemble glass-like volcanic rock (x) - a sort of combination of obsidian and the basalt rock that is created from cooling lava flows. It is an amazing piece and I just wanted to share it with my dear readers.
Dragon Scales?
Other people have suggested that Sansa’s costume resembles dragon scales - and there is a certain resemblance when we compare the dress to the scales of the dragons in the show.
Tumblr media
However, this issue of dragon scales regarding Sansa’s new costume really ought to be discussed in relation to previous costumes that features elements meant to evoke dragon scales, not the dragons themselves - as they belong to a coherent body of work created by costumier Michele Clapton and embroiderer Michele Carragher.
Tumblr media
The only person that wears dragon scales on her costumes is Daenerys Targaryen, which makes perfect sense since she’s the descendant of the dragon lords of Old Valyria and because she has three living dragons from which she derives her power and her mystique. As we can see from the photos above, Michele Clapton and the embroiderer Michele Carragher have used various techniques over the seasons to evoke dragon scales on Dany’s clothing - from pleating and other fabric manipulation to beading with square Tila beads made of glass as well as pointy metallic sequins.
Tumblr media
Stylistically, you could make an argument that Sansa’s black leather scales resemble the soft white cloth scales on Dany’s white queenly dress from season 5. However, in terms of narrative it makes no sense whatsoever for Sansa to suddenly cover herself in dragon scales just because Daenerys enters her narrative.
In her quest to fit in, Sansa has always been very influenced by other people and her costumes mirror her journey towards finding out who she is as Clapton explains:
“Initially we see her try to emulate Cersei in her costumes, and then when that starts going wrong she sort of stalls and her colors start drifting back towards blue. But they’re not quite blue, they’re mauve. Wherever she goes, she’s sort of pulled in each direction. Finally we see her as Dark Sansa, when she very dramatically changes her appearance and darkens her hair, and has a very dark costume.” … " Now we see her back at Winterfell — I think, slowly, she’s becoming slightly more her own woman rather than always being influenced by those around her. She’s finally finding herself, and it’s really interesting to explore that in Season 7, and it’s exciting.“ (Michele Clapton, BuzzFeed)
Season 8 is the time for Sansa to finally have found herself - to know herself and what she wants, which is going to be expressed in her costumes and her hair styles:
For so long, Sansa’s hair changed season by season depending on who was influencing her. The first few episodes she was a Northerner in Winterfell and took after her mother with a simple braid down the back. Then when she went to King’s Landing it was a big, decadent halo that was very much like what the Queen wore. With Littlefinger, she dyes her hair black and wears all black. Then she goes back to Winterfell and returns to her mother’s hair. She created her own identity in season 7 and that kind of runs through to season 8. She’s chosen how she wants her hair to be, and she’s finally the leader and influencer instead of being influenced by everyone else. (Sophie Turner, InStyle)
This quote is about Sansa’s hair style but it will certainly also apply to her costumes because Clapton creates her designs to visually express the character’s narrative journeys. And Sophie Turner has hinted that in this final season, Sansa has indeed come to know herself:
The past few seasons for her and the whole series for her, she’s kind of been somewhat lost as a matter of where she wants to be, who she wants to be, who she wants to surround herself with, and this season she is very very self-assured. She knows what she wants. She knows what she stands for. She knows who she wants to be around, and she faces threats to that this season. (Sophie Turner, Vulture)
So, no - Sansa Stark’s scaly new battle dress doesn’t represent dragon scales because it makes absolutely no narrative sense for her to suddenly adopt a Targaryen style. Her narrative arc has been a long journey back towards her roots but also a journey of self-discovery, a tempering of character by way of much hardship.
Fish or Fowl?
If the leather scales on this costume evoke neither dragonglass nor dragon scales, what do they refer to? As seen below, the texture of the dress looks very similar to both raven feather and fish scales.
Tumblr media
Sansa has worn feathers before and she has had a lot of winged imagery - in the form of dragonflies, moths, and raven feathers in her costuming whilst she has been called “Little Dove” by Cersei and “Little Bird” by the Hound in the dialogue of the show. Narratively, there’s a precedent for her new dress to evoke feathers and the individual flaps looks to have textured surfaces in a manner that looks a bit feathery. The iridescence in the photos also reminds one of raven feathers but it is hard to tell whether this blue sheen is an effect of lighting and Photoshop or whether it comes from some kind of surface treatment of the material or whether the leather is more of a midnight blue than jet-black. It is very hard to tell.
THE TULLY CONNECTION
Despite the bird imagery in Sansa’s narrative arc and the use of feathers in her previous costumes, I don’t think that we should dismiss the possibility that the texture on her new dress is meant to evoke fish scales. After all, her mother was born a Tully of Riverrun. The sigil of House Tully is a trout and in the show their armour is made of textured leather flaps assembled to evoke fish scales!
Tumblr media
If we take a closer look at the armour that Edmure and Brynden Tully wear, you can see that it is made of layered flaps of stiff leather - and that each flap is been embossed to create a pattern of raised bumps, giving the whole ensemble an extra layer of texture. The similarities of both pattern and material between Sansa’s dress and the Tully armour makes a compelling argument that this battle dress is a female variation on the traditional armour of her mother’s House.
So why would Sansa, who as Lady of Winterfell is the head of House Stark, wear something that looks like Tully armour? As said, Sansa’s mother Catelyn was born a Tully of Riverrun and since the end of season 2, Sansa has included elements of her mother’s style and symbols of her mother’s heritage in her clothing and her hair style.
Tumblr media
From the end of season 2 to the end of season 4, Sansa wears her dresses and her hair in the style of her mother (x). Sansa styling herself as her mother in King’s Landing is way for her to signal her distance from Cersei’s toxic wisdom. Sansa doesn’t want to look like the woman who not only turns the blind eye to Joffrey’s abuse of her but who herself delights in tormenting the girl emotionally. Whereas Sansa started to emulate Cersei’s style before she knew any better, she now models herself on her mother (”I must be as strong as my lady mother” - AGoT, Sansa V).
In season 5, Sansa returns to Winterfell, sold into a marriage with her family’s enemy. After a brief and drastic change of style (”DarkSansa”), she reverts to her mother’s style again - the dresses are of the same cut and she dons a double embroidered collar such as Catelyn wore. At this point her mother (and most of her family are either dead or missing) and therefore Sansa does homage to her lost family by incorporating elements associated with them in her white wedding dress:
"It’s Sansa trying to respect everyone that’s been before her. She finally feels like she can make Winterfell a family home again. So I wanted to incorporate pieces that represented her family." (Michele Clapton, Fashionista)
She pays a special homage to her late mother by wearing a set of silver clasps in the shape of the Tully trout. Her mother had worn similar clasps but in season 2 the observant viewer can see that she left a few behind at Winterfell.
In season 6, Sansa once more turns to the style of her mother in order to reclaim her identity as a Stark after all the abuse she has endured. Thus, when she travels the North with Jon to raise troops in order to retake Winterfell, she is styled in a way that visually echoes Catelyn Stark’s style.
Tumblr media
Sansa’s dress of teal velvet is the same colour of one of the dresses that Catelyn wore in season 1 and she wears a silver and black fur cape over her cloak, just like her mother.
"She has these amazing green dresses. She's vibrant again. She has the Stark embroidery and her furs are much like her mother's." (Sophie Turner, USAToday)
Tumblr media
Even the large direwolf embroidered on the bodice of her gown, proclaiming her identity as a Stark, contains subtle nods to her mother’s heritage.
“The direwolf is the Stark sigil, but Carragher’s design also refers to Sansa’s mother, a Tully of Riverrun. The tufts of the wolf’s fur fall in a scale-like pattern that is outlined in silver thread, evoking House Tully’s fish sigil; its neck terminates in a mass of dark-gray mother-of-pearl beads. “We always try to use shells and pearls within her embroidery, because it references the water,” Carragher said. Minute, reflective cut-steel beads, used to make purses in the early twentieth century, pick out the wolf’s glinting teeth.” - (Michele Carragher, New Yorker)
Tumblr media
The embroiderer Michele Carragher emphasizes that she makes a point of using materials associated with water in the embroidered pieces for Sansa, like the freshwater pearls and shells in this piece. Another very interesting feature is the way that the stylized fur of the wolf morphs into a more scaly pattern where the iridescence of the mother of pearl beads clearly evoke fish scales. So while feathers have been more prominent in Sansa’s costuming so far, the fish scales have been used as well - but in a much more subtle manner!
Sansa’s wardrobe takes a more plain and practical turn in season 7 with a new silhouette and colour palette. Her gowns are grey, in more rough-spun and heavy fabrics - and she no longer embellishes her dresses with beaded embroidery. Winter and war is here - and there’s no room for frivolity. However, that doesn’t mean that there aren’t a subtle nod to her Tully heritage - now it is just expressed through the textures of her clothes.
”Within each of their costumes, there are influences. […] Sansa’s are part father, part mother. It’s her father’s silhouette with the fur, her mother’s within. The textures are very much from her mother.”  - (Michele Clapton, Elle)
Or rather one specific dress where Clapton used a heavy and slightly shiny fabric because the pattern reminded her of fish swimming:
Q: Is Sansa’s fabric one of the furnishing fabrics?
MC: I think it is – it might be the reverse side. I thought it looked like fishes swimming. I think we worked into it a bit – it’s beautiful. (Michele Clapton, FIDM Museum)
Tumblr media
And there’s an element in the dress of her mother, the pattern is almost like fishes swimming. (Michele Clapton, UpRoxx)
Ever since her death, Catelyn’s character seems to have been forgotten by her children - at least they don’t speak about her, which really stood out in season 7 where Sansa and Arya spoke about their father but never mentioned their mother. However, throughout the seasons Michele Clapton has ensured that Catelyn Stark has remained an unspoken presence with her eldest daughter - a presence expressed through the way that Sansa styles herself.
Until now, the Tully connection in Sansa’s costumes has always been a very personal one - referencing her mother Catelyn. She has worn colours, silhouettes and jewellery in her mother’s style and her some textures, patterns and embroidery has had subtle references to the Tully sigil. However, while Sansa’s new leather dress looks like a female version of the traditional Tully armour, it is not a style that has ever been associated with Catelyn’s personal look! So while this dress can be interpreted as an homage to her murdered mother (x), its symbolism encompass more than the memory of a beloved parent.
A Tully armour dress is also a political statement!
Sansa is, according to Clapton, a person who “tends to express herself visually” (x) and on Game of Thrones fashion choices are always meaningful:
Everything – even a fashion choice – has meaning on “Game of Thrones.” In this cutthroat world where men fight for the Iron Throne and the women yield a different kind of power, a choice of fabric or a different cut of cloth can be a political statement, costume designer Michele Clapton told TODAY.com. (Michele Clapton, Today)
Though the style of this costume may invoke several different meanings, I am of the opinion it is first and foremost a nod to the heraldic sigil of House Tully because the stylistic similarities between Sansa’s dress and the Tully armour are so strong. This raises some very interesting possibilities in terms of what may happen in the story - because we have to ask ourselves: Why would Lady Stark wear a garment that invokes the sigil of House Tully?
At this point in the story, Sansa has accrued quite a bit of political influence. The Northern lords have become rather impressed with her during her tenure as Jon’s regent, she also has the allegiance of the Knights of the Vale through Lord Royce. That is two major regions that she has in her pocket so to speak. However, her mother’s heritage may also become politically important - after all, her uncle is Lord of Riverrun. House Tully hasn’t had much of a presence in the story after the Red Wedding and we last saw Edmure Tully in season 6 where he yielded Riverrun to Jaime Lannister. Will House Tully have a role to play in this final season of Game of Thrones? It seems so because Tobias Menzies has been confirmed to appear in the first episode of the last season, along with the actor who plays the Robert Arryn, the young Lord of the Vale (x). Thus, two political figures with personal ties to Sansa is set to enter the political arena - and it is very likely that Sansa’s impressive fish scale battle dress is related to this.
To be continued...

SECRETS & BETRAYALS (5)
Rated: M Wordcount: 1446 Summary: Much time has passed since Jude Duarte was exiled in the mortal world. But now she's back to Elfhame and Cardan will not like to discover her reasons for coming back. Is Jude still the Queen of Nothing? Other parts: One, Two, Three, Four, Five, Six, (To be added) This is a The Folk of the Air’s Fanfic. The original work belongs to Holly Black.
Bran. Jude had said the name with so much disappointment that it felt like an accusation. As if she were the one in position to make accusations. She left him. He feared she was dead, feared she might be hurt and needing his help. He hopped for her to come after him for her comeback. His spies had sought out her for years without find any clue of her whereabouts. Which was no different at the times when Cardan went see her and Jude was too busy with some dangerous scheme to find him. None of his spies could tell what she was doing then, where or with whom she was.
Now Jude was back with news. Astonishing ones. Dangerous ones.
His late mortal wife was alive and not so mortal after all. They had a son, a grown son who had been kidnapped for a dangerous, bloodthirsty and hungry-power maniac, with whom Cardan was at war and whom his wife had a meeting.
And they were close enough for him to propose to her.
His chest was burning uncomfortably. Jude could have said that she wasn’t inclined to accept any proposal, but Cardan was realistic enough to admit that Jude and Diarmuid had at least three things in common.
And she had not come back for Cardan. He had come back for her son, or at least she said that. Maybe she was fooling Cardan, maybe she was fooling Diarmuid. Maybe, both. Jude was Jude. She could do something like that. But whatever her move would be, she wanted High King participation.
Se had not asked for help. Wise of her. A favor for a favor, that was Faerie. And Cardan would loved leave her indebted to him. And it did not matter what he would have to do to that.
However she had come, told the news and expected him to get involved. She had expected him to worry about that brat. But he could not even imagine why he should worry about someone he had never met instead of worrying about her. The idea that he had a child was still just... an idea. Cardan could not even imagine how he should react to that.
His gaze went to the gold stain on the floor. At some point they had kicked the  bottle. Probably when they rolled across the floor as if they had yearning for touch the other for almost one hundred years. And may they had. That day was the 93rd anniversary of her disappearance. Cardan had planned a self-pity party and Jude had ruined everything.
That troublemaker.
Cardan was sited in the sofa feeling everything and nothing at all. His mind was not much different from the weather outside his window. Like in his wed, he found it embarrassing how Elfhame could so easily expose him.
Jude had vanished in the air. Again. It was only necessary that he get up to call his spies. Turned his back on her had been a mistake, walk to the door had been a mistake. Because when Liliver and Van entered in his bedchambers, Jude was gone as if she was the hallucination he had believed she was. If he had not saw they looking for her without an order to do so, he would not believe that she had been there.
“Always full of surprises, isn’t her?” Roach had back wet with rain. He was good with his sly foot, but not good as his Queen.
“If we're lucky, less surprises than we can handle.” The King voice ton was hash enough to make it clear that his Queen surprises was not the best one. “You found anything?”
“No, your Highness. It's like she has not even been here.” Fear squeezed Cardan's stomach. Of all ways Van could express himself… “She was good before, but now...”
...she is more dangerous than ever.
Against all the tension in the room, Bomb said softly “I’m relieved that she is okay.”
And Cardan was too.
The Roach, either.
“So, what brought her back to the marriage bed?”
“She looked concerned about the safety of the prince of Faerie.” Cardan chuckled.
His spies exchanged disturbed looks. They had planned the better way to protect that prince. “Oak is fine.”
“Not that one.” Part of him was happy not to be on the scandalized side of the conversation. “I believe she was talking about my son.”
The Roach choked, probably, on all the questions that statement raised or the complete discomfort of being caught between in a Royal marital strife. Liliver's eyes, widely opened, were revealing everything she tried to keep hidden. She was too discreet to not try.
Always full of surprises, indeed.
The High King took the paper portraits his wife left in his table and shuddered.
In the first one, the brat was no more a brat. He was all grow up and trying charm someone. Cardan knew that because that was the way he looked like when tried charm anyone. The boy had Jude’s colors - darker skin and lighter eyes than Cardan’s - yet someone could look at mother and son and never guess so. They did not resemble each other. In other hand, it seemed impossible that anyone who knew Cardan could look at his son and not know.
They had a son. A son.
Cardan was someone’s father.
That was unbelievable and not advisable.
Jude arranged the portraits backwards. He saw a happier version of himself who had been in both worlds, mortal and fairy. In Seelie and Unseelie courts. But they did not reveal too much. Cardan did not recognize any of those places and, at the same time, he found them very familiar. His wife had paid close attention to them and to what she chose show him.
Jude was there too. Never alone. This collection had a theme and it was not about her. But the ones in which she was had been his favorites. She teaching sword-play. They dancing. She holding a fairy boy - their fairy boy - in her arms. They lying on the grass with soundless laughter.
They belonged to the nobility. His son had not grown up in a environment so different from the one in which Cardan grew up. But the portraits were stranger. Jude and... Bran, they did not pose for them as Cardan had been taught to. In that portraits they smiled, pout, made faces, faking sadness, showed teeth, were taken by surprise.
They were playful.
He felt bitter and alone than ever.
His son be undeniably similar to him meant that to keep the secret, Jude had hidden far away from the reach of the High King’s power and far from everyone who knew her as his senescal. And that meant far.
Maybe Cardan should be happy that Jude could love someone who resemble him so much. That she could love his son. But all he could think was that even if the son had his face, Bran was not him.
Maybe it was what Jude had felt about Taryn. Maybe that was what Taryn had felt about Jude.
Cardan held up the photos toward Liliver. “Here, Bomb.”
She smiled shy and apologetic. “Your Highness, it’s not my business.”
Nonsense. Gossip about the royal family was always everybody's business.
“Take them before I change my mind.” And she took. Her eyes was hungest than mortals who eated faerie fruit. She took her time in each as she need time to understand what she was looking at.
Van looked from behind her shoulder. “He looks like you.” This was a euphemism. “She said his name?”
“Bran.” Cardan spat the name like it was poisoned. The spies politely faked do not notice that.
“Bran. Braaaan. Bran. Good. I liked it.” For a moment there was silence. Two of the three present wanted the father to pronounce on it. Cardan said nothing. But spies should not push their king against the wall, so Bomb questioned something which would lead them to subjects that spies should know. “He knows about you?” Do you want one of us to go to him? Should we bring him to Elfhame?
“I didn’t ask.” The answer was disgusted. Until that moment Cardan had not thought that his son could know about him and chose not to met him. Or that whatever Bran knew about his father would have come from gossips, enemies and rivals. Or from his mother, which could not be better. “Why you two came here to night?”
“Oh, that.” Van scratched the tuft of hair on top of his head in an almost embarrassed way.  “It will look silly right now, but we may have a problem.”
Thank you all.

Whole list for Nikolai pls!!!
Can diddly do!
What is their favourite food: Blinis or kashka, probably.
Do they have a fear of an animal? If so, what animal: Jellyfish.
What do they wear to bed: Pajama pants and a worn shirt --or, on nights where Alexandra gets her way, nothing at all ;D.
Do they like cuddling: Yes. Nikolai is an absolute cuddle bug. His kids, his wife, his grandkids, the students at the Institute that need a hug... anyone who wants a hug or some physical affection can always go to Nikolai.
Do they have a secret handshake with anyone: He makes ones with his brothers when they’re all kids.
What do they look like: Okay, so apparently comics Nikolai has black hair and wears glasses and all that, but I did basically no research on that because I knew I was just gonna do my own thing. So my version of Nikolai has blonde hair and blue eyes, and bears a very strong resemblance to Piotr and Mikhail. He’s tall and broader in the shoulders like Piotr is, but his jawline isn’t quite as strong (Piotr gets that from his mama).
Do they like chocolate: Sure!
What are their good and bad traits: Nikolai is very kind, generous, hard working, and loving, but he can be overly idealistic and occasionally fall onto the passive side of things in conflicts.
Do they have any artistic talent: No --with the exception of cooking, if you count that as an art, he doesn’t have an artistic bone in his body.
What is their favourite room to be in, in the house they live in: The kitchen and the dining room. It’s the heart of the home, in his opinion.
Do they believe in luck: Not really. He believes in hard work and communication.
Can they do magic: No.
Do they believe in dragons: Sure.
What is a pet peeve of theirs: People who choose not to be generous with what they have, and when Alex leaves her boots laying around in the middle of the room.
What was the last thing they cried about: He gets choked up when he thinks about what Alex had to suffer through as a government asset, when he worries about his kids, or when he looks at pictures of baby bunnies, so take your pick.
What is their sexuality: Bisexual, honestly.
Do they have a best friend? If so, who, and what makes them their best friend: Alexandra is probably his best friend, along with his elder brother Viktor (before he passed away).
Have they ever been in a romantic relationship: Yes.
What does their relationship with their family look like? Are they close? Distant? Ect: He’s close with all his children and their S/Os, but is estranged from his younger brother Anatoly, due to the latter’s choice to get involved with the bratva.
Do they have a pet: He’s raised horses, pigs, cattle, goats, fowl... granted, some of them were dinner, but he’s no stranger to animals.
Do they have a familiar: No.
Are they a supernatural being: No.
How do they usually wear their hair: Short.
Can they play an instrument? If so, what instrument and what can they play: Absolutely not, lol.
What type a high schooler are/were they: Studious, very focused on family and home.
Have they ever been in a physical fight before? If so, with who? Who won: He’s been in a couple with his brothers, and took his share of wins and losses.
What is their favourite holiday: Christmas, Easter... not so much for the religious aspect (he’s agnostic/atheistic), but more for the family aspect.
If they could have one wish, what would they wish for: For his family to be happy and healthy.
Do they wants kids? If they already have kids, do they want more: He has three kids (obviously), and he’s happy with that number (though he basically does “adopt” all the students and alums of Xavier’s when he and Alex move to the States).
Do they have a job: He’s a farmer and has studied agricultural science/agricultural engineering.
Do they know how to drive: Yes.
Do they get stressed out easily: No, he’s pretty easy-going.
Did they ever dye their hair before? If so, to what colour? Did they like it: No.
Have they ever broken the law: A couple times.
Do they own a plant: Yes; he’s a farmer, lol. Plants kind of come with the territory.
Have they ever rode a horse before: Yes.
What is their favorite gif: Pass.
Do they get along with others easily: Extremely. Nikolai is probably the most personable person in his family.
Do they have any tattoos: No.
If I wanted to draw them, what would be distinct physical features that I would have to know to draw them correctly: Blonde hair, blue eyes, pale skin... I should probably figure out what my version of Nikolai properly looks like, lol.
What is their favourite breed of dog: Any and all of them.
Do they live with anyone? If so, who: He lives with Alexandra, and his kids and grandkids come and visit as they can/please.
Where is their dream vacation: Anywhere with Alex.
Do they know more than one language: He mainly speaks Russian, though he does know a little bit of English and later picks up Russian sign language so he can communicate with Lexie.
Are they a quick learner: He’s decently quick.
Have they ever won a contest before? If so, what for? What did they win: He won a few livestock raising related contests as a kid and teen, and won a few ribbons and small cash prizes.
If the world were to end in 24 hours, where would they be and who would they be with: He’d be with his family.
What does their room look like: The room he shares with Alex just has a bed and some nightstands and a dresser. They both like keeping things simple.
If they could have an extinct animal for a pet, what would they have: Pass.
If they got called out by someone, what would they do: He’s good about listening and considering the points made, then applying them if necessary.
Have they ever shot a gun before: Yes.
Have they ever been axe throwing: Yes.
What is something that they want but can’t have: He’s content with what he has.
Do they know how to fish: Yes.
What is something they always wanted to do but too scared: He’s basically done what he wants to do in life.
Do they own their own baby pictures: He has some of them, since his parents have passed on.
What makes them standout among others: His height and his friendly demeanor.
Do they like to show off: Not really -unless it’s his wife or something his wife/his kids/his grandkids have accomplished.
What is their favourite song: He likes acoustic guitar music, generally anything soft and relaxed, but he doesn’t have any specific favorites.
What would be their dream vehicle: Pass.
What is their favourite book: Anything that’s a “feel good” story, but again, he doesn’t have any specific favorites.
Who, in their opinion, makes the best food: If it’s a contest between him and Alex, he does lol.
Are they approachable: Extremely approachable.
Did they ever change their appearance: Not really. He likes what he likes and sticks to it.
What makes them smile: His kids, his wife, his grandkids, baby bunnies...
Do they like glowsticks: They’re alright in his book.
What is something that is simple, but always makes them smile: Seeing Alex smile.
Are they a day or night person: Day.
Are they allergic to anything: Nope.
What do you, the creator of this OC, like most about them: Again, I technically didn’t create Nikolai, but I like how loving and kind he is. He’s a marshmallow and a Hufflepuff rolled into one.
Who is their ride or die: Alexandra, for sure.
Do they currently have a significant other? If not, are they going to get one later one: Alex.
What attracts them to another person: Kindness, intelligence, humor, generosity.
Who is one person that can always make them laugh: Alex or Mikhail.
Have they ever partied too hard and their friends had to take them home: Once, in college.
Who would be their cuddle buddy: Alexandra or any of his grandkids.
Who would cheer them up after a long day: Spending time with his family.
If they had a nightmare, who would they run to: Alexandra.
What object to the care for the most: Any of his farming equipment or animals.
Do they like other people’s children: Yes.
How would they react if someone broke into their home: Get a gun and call the authorities.
Does anyone make them have butterflies in their stomach: Alexandra.
What is something that they are good at: He’s good at cooking.
What is their neutral expression: Resting nice face.
Do they like to cook: Yes! He likes providing for his family.
What is something they can’t leave home without: A jacket Alex gave him for his 32nd birthday.
Who is someone that they rely on: Alex.
Do they liked to be tickled: Sure.
Have they ever been a sword fight before: No.
What is a joke that they would find funny: What deity do mice worship? Cheezus!
Do they have a place that can go and turn off their brain: Caring for his animals or snuggling with Alex.
What was their childhood like: Relatively happy! He grew up on his parents’ farm in Siberia (which he later inherited) with his parents and his two brothers.
What are they like as an adult: Friendly, kind, easy-going, responsible.
Do they take criticism well: As well as the average person.
Have they ever jumped out of a plane: No.
Who do they like to make jokes with: His family.
Have you ever drawn them before? If you are comfortable with it, would you post a picture: I haven’t, but i probably will in the future.

Devil May Cry 5 (PS4/Xbox One/PC) - Review
4/27/19
Tumblr media
Developed by Capcom, released March 8th, 2019
Devil May Cry is the series that ushered in the hack ‘n slash genre to the 6th generation of consoles (PS2/Xbox/Gamecube), effectively bringing the format to 3D with flying colors. Many other series have tried to emulate the success and style of DMC, but hardly ever matched its character and style. Even my friends and I referred to the original God of War as a “DMC clone,” despite it being the best series to mimic the DMC formula. Devil Macy Cry 5 is the incredibly long awaited sequel to Devil May Cry 4, which released a whopping 11 years ago. Luckily, it was worth the wait, and DMC5 isn’t a disappointment like so many other long awaited titles to release recently.
In the city of Red Grave, devil hunter Nero (Johnny Yong Bosch) has started his off-shoot of the Devil May Cry business, in the form of a workshop on wheels driven by Nico, a brand new character to the series played by Faye Kingslee. Nero has his devil arm ripped from his body and the Yamato sword stolen by a mysterious figure. A demon king named “Urizen” is drawing power from the “Qilphoth,” a demonic tree growing and destroying the city, feeding off human blood for power. Nero and Dante (Reuben Langdon) have Urizen in their sights, but after a battle, Dante saves Nero’s life, and is temporarily defeated by the demon king. A month later, Dante reawakens, and is out to try again. It’s the fomulaic DMC plot: a new demon king or leader has found yet another new and unheard of way to open the demon realm to the human world, hell bent on power and destruction.
Tumblr media
DMC5 uses the same engine as Resident Evil 7, and it shows. The graphical detail, lighting, animation, texture, and everything visual looks amazing. The game also runs at a smooth 60fps, rarely failing except under the most flashy and high processing moments of combat. I am so happy Nero and Dante’s fighting style and traits have remained intact. It gives a sense of continuity and consistency to fans of the series who are revisiting these characters. We spend red orbs from defeated enemies on an expansive skill list, slowly unlocking more combos and special moves for each of the three heroes. Now that Nero has a missing arm, Nico has manufactured a variety of new mechanical arms we can buy and equip. Each one of these arms adds something unique to combat, including a shocker, missile, grappler, drill, and so on. Nero is still a blast to play as, and while I miss his original devil arm, I can see why the devs went this direction in order to expand and add even more depth to Nero’s combat.
Dante is still a total powerhouse. Not only does he have his iconic twin pistols, shotgun, gauntlets, and sword, he is still equipped with 4 separate fighting styles to keep the combat fresh (e.g. Trickster, Royal Guard, Gunslinger, and Swordmaster). It’s almost overwhelming what the combat options are, as you constantly want to switch between fighting styles, as well as mixing up melee and ranged weapons. Even at their base, Dante and Nero could carry an entire game with the moveset at their default. This makes the combat in DMC5 the best I’ve seen for the genre in years. No player will play the same, especially in the case of Dante. Some missions are specific to one character, but others let you chose who you want to play as. Red orbs transfer seamlessly between characters, keeping you from having to acquire the orbs individually.
Tumblr media
The third main character, and most unique aspect of DMC5, is “V,” who happens to be voice acted by a good friend of mine, Brian Handford. He brings an entirely new type of combat to the series, in the form of summoning demonic creatures to do most of the fighting for him. The player can move V during combat, but your corresponding melee or ranged attack face buttons now affect the panther and bird respectively. During V’s devil trigger mode, he summons a giant golem to deal extra damage. V is like the spellcaster of the series, and getting used to his fighting style does involve a small learning curve. But once you get good at managing him, the bird, and the panther all at once, it gives us satisfying scenes of controlled chaos. He may not be my favorite of the three protagonists to play as, but I certainly think his fighting style and character was designed very well, and feels innovative for the series.
Like the other games, DMC5 is a strictly linear offline experience, something I’ve always liked more than the massive online competitive and multiplayer games of which the industry is full of. The devs at Capcom have stuck to their guns and I’m ecstatic DMC5 resembles its brethren so closely. The storytelling however, does not innovate or feel like anything special for the series. I would say this is one of the better stories, especially near the end, but I still think they could do better. The world in which these games take place are always isolated to just the experience of the heroes. I have no idea where Red Grave is compared to the other cities or locations in the other games, or have any reference of how prolific the destruction is outside of our perspective from the protagonists. I’d like to see regular people’s take on all these demon gates constantly opening, or simply for the main characters to recognize a bit of the bigger picture.
Tumblr media
DMC5 has the perfect level of difficulty, if you play on Devil Hunter mode (hard mode). The game recommends this mode for veterans of the series, of which I am, and I found it perfectly balanced. I can imagine how much easier it would be on the default difficulty, and seeing players not really taking advantage of the deep combat if enemies are so easy. In other words, play on Devil Hunter mode no matter what! Another problem I have with the game is the yellow orb mechanic. You find yellow orbs in the environments (at least one per mission), and they act like continues for when your die. A yellow orb can be spent, restoring your health & devil trigger gauges fully, picking your right back up, and the enemies get no health back. Personally, I had yellow orbs in the double digits, so when I did struggle with a boss fight, some engagement and tension was lost when I realized I could just keep spending yellow orbs until I defeated the boss, instead of having to play closer attention to their attacks and simply fight better.
DMC5 is one of the stronger games in the series, but it doesn’t beat DMC3 in my opinion, mostly because that game’s story, cinematics, combat, and challenge were so excellent. DMC5 certainly tries to elevate its level of storytelling, but the plot and characters still have a few too many conveniences and oddities (although it does get better near the end). V is a fantastic addition to the game, and his style of combat is one of the most unique I’ve seen in a game of this genre. Dante and Nero are still an absolute blast to play as, and their depth of combat is hard to comprehend, let alone learn fully. DMC5 is basically exactly what I could have hoped for and expected from these devs. This is a great game with excellent enemy design, fantastic combat, great graphics, lots to unlock, and is hugely entertaining. Recommended highly for fans of the series, or fantasy action games with swords, guns, combos, special moves, skill trees, and things of the like.

a dream of good writing; s8 predictions/wish list
okay i’m procrastinating thesis work and cant stop fixating on Game of Thrones... WE’RE SO CLOSE. So here is a big ole post with everything i think and hope will happen this season - who lives / dies, plot points, etc. This post is HUGE and mostly for me to reread after the finale to wallow, lmao.
going to bold & italicize predictions that came true and strikeout the ones that didnt
Let’s start with priorities: the storylines and characters i care most about and where they’ll be at the start of s8 (roughly in order of how much i care)
Recap: Characters/plot
Sansa Stark - Of course, Sansa is and always will be the character I most look forward to seeing. Since season one, she’s gone from an idealistic young girl with a love of romance, slowly realized the cruel reality of the world, became an orphaned political prisoner, learned to lie and manipulate for her own survival, been abused in unspeakable ways, yet has persevered to escape, reunite with her family, retake her childhood home (which wouldn’t have been possible without the men of the vale, loyal to her), and gathered the northern lords to her side. She’s also demonstrated an understanding of governing - war isn’t her style, but ruling is. She has been one of the only characters who has common sense and is making practical plans to survive the winter (collecting grain, ensuring armor is covered with leather, etc). With Littlefinger gone, she now has the complete allegiance of the Vale, and potentially the Riverlands. She’s reconnecting with her siblings, even though they’re SUPER weird, and keeping the North loyal and functional in Jon’s absence. As Lady of Winterfell, she’ll immediately be starting the season with conflict - Jon’s betrayal and the arrival of Dragon Queen D*ny.
Jaime Lannister - Jaime and Cersei are probably tied for my second favorite characters. Their respective storylines have divided them significantly, geographically and character-wise. Jaime began as an arrogant, entitled, morally corrupt “Kingslayer,” completely devoted to Cersei and nothing else. His capture by the Starks in season 2 led to an unlikely deal being struck between him and Catelyn Stark - promising to return her daughters to her. His subsequent journey with Brienne and amputation of his sword hand led to a deeper understanding of his character and proved he did, actually, have some convictions. He killed the mad king to prevent the burning of kings landing (and left cersei for similar reasons) and besides some uh..... inconsistent characterization in season 4 and 5, has since decided to join with the living in Winterfell. VERY IMPORTANTLY - he knows that Cersei lied at the Dragonpit meeting, and has no intention of sending aid to the North or honoring the Truce.
Cersei Lannister - people love to hate Cersei, but I love to love her. She’s an inherently flawed character, but her dedication to her children and penchant for wit and wine endear her to me. No one else on the show relishes in revenge quite as well, and honestly most of the time i find her actions justifiable, even if they are often foolish and illogical. Although she attempts to play the game better than everyone else, her scheming has repeatedly backfired, leading her deeper and deeper down a dark path. Her involvement in the deaths of Robert and Ned Stark started the war that tore the kingdoms apart, her hatred for Tyrion and manipulation of his trial led to the death of Tywin, and arming the faith militant in an attempt to use them as pawns backfired - leading to her arrest and humiliation. Her revenge - blowing up the sept with hundreds of citizens, the High Sparrow, and most of the Tyrells inside - led to Tommen’s suicide. Despite her best efforts, her 3 children are dead, Jaime has left her, and enemies surround her. She now has nothing to lose, a questionable former-maester (I also adore Qyburn), a zombie giant, the golden company, and an unconfirmed cache of wildfire at her disposal. She is also apparently pregnant, but I’m not sure how much I believe that.
Winterfell (convergence) - Let’s just recap on how wild the reunions, meetings, and political implications of the impending meeting of forces at Winterfell. With 7 seasons of plotting, murder, and shifting alliances, the amount of weird tension in the great hall - and potential character interactions - Is something i’m most excited for.
The arrival of Dany - there hasn’t been a Targaryen in the North (besides Night’s Watch Aemon and the Three Eyed Raven, but they were undercover) in years, and The North Remembers what the last Targaryens did - kidnapped their Lady Lyanna and burned Brandon and Rickard Stark alive. While they desperately need her dragonfire and armies, that doesn’t mean they’ll give Dany a warm welcome, and I’m super excited to see how they react to Jon bending the knee
Samwell and Dany - sam has inevitably learned about his father and Brother’s execution at this point. He’s not a confrontational person and didn’t particularly love his father, but he was close with Dickon and I can’t imagine him being chill with Dragonarys burning them alive. Potential tension between him and Jon as a result.
Jon reuniting with Bran and Arya (STARK SEASON BABY) - they have all grown so much as characters, and hardly resemble the children who parted ways in s1e1. I expect this reunion to be bittersweet af.
Jon’s heritage - while he was off being held prisoner/ seducing the dragon queen, Sam and Bran put two and two together, revealing Jon to be Aegon Targaryen, legitimate heir of Rhaegar and Lyanna. This is obviously going to cause conflict with Dany (anyone who thinks otherwise is... hmm) as well as the northern lords.
Brienne/Jaime Reunion - possibly on of the greatest pairs on the show, Jaime took Brienne’s “Fuck Loyalty!” to heart and was last seen riding North to join the war against the dead, leaving Cersei to her scheming in the south. Now that his relationship with his sister is apparently  over, maybe he and Brienne can finally act on that unbearable UST that’s been around since s3
Jaime and Bran reunion - The last time Bran saw Jaime back in s1e1, he  got pushed out a window and crippled. Jaime has since become a far better person (imo) and Bran is an all-seeing all-knowing robot boy. this interaction will be v interesting
Arya seeing some of the few people remaining on her list: Beric Dondarrion (assuming he makes it back from the wall), The Hound (perhaps no longer on the list, i’m excited for this reunion as well), and Melisandre. While I believe Arya can hold a grudge, these characters have become valuable allies to the North - she can’t just go around murdering them.
Gendry/ ARYA!!! - the clips of Gendry in the winterfell forge made me want to scream. These two are another favorite pair from the show, and havent seen each other since their run-in with the brotherhood in season 3. the UST will be interesting - they’re both fully grown adults now, but is super-assassin arya capable of having romantic feelings anymore? And how is royal bastard Gendry going to feel about her new skills and penchant for stealing faces? lmao.
Gendry and Melisandre - Gendry definitely hasnt forgiven the Brotherhood or Melisandre for his brief imprisonment and near-sacrifice in s3. Of course, Melisandre has also been pretty humbled by stannis’ loss.
Tyrion and Sansa - the two slowly formed a tentative friendship during their arranged marriage in season 3, with the Lannister as one of the few characters in King’s landing to show her kindness and protection. Tyrion is one of the first to recognize her strength and intelligence, and their reunion may be awkward, but hopefully their friendship will be strengthened.
plus so many more connections between characters that i’m probably forgetting about!!!!
The Iron Throne - Cersei currently sits the Iron Throne, but has almost no claim. Her potential baby by Jaime’s claim won’t hold up against any of the other candidates for the Throne. Currently competing with her is Dany, who does have a legitimate claim, dragons, and an army - but is still a foreigner with a penchant for roasting people alive. Unfortunately for them, more players may enter the ring. Jon has been revealed as the legitimate son of Rhaegar and Lyanna, meaning he has a stronger claim. He was raised in a noble family, fought for the nights watch, and has proven himself a capable military commander. However, his parentage reveal may weaken northern allegiance, and he has no real experience or allies in the south - and the kingdoms may not look kindly on his relationship to the wildings. He has also bent the knee/kind of romanced Dany. Jon absolutely doesnt want to rule the seven kingdoms - he barely wants to be king in the north - but would take the role out of a sense of duty if persuaded. Other; slightly more tenuous claims - Jamie or Tyrion (w/ Sansa Stark?) might have a chance if Cersei, Dany, and Jon don’t survive, although Robert’s bastard Gendry has a slightly stronger claim - but like Jon, he doesn’t seem like he wants the Throne, and definitely doesnt have the experience or education to rule.
For all Dany’s talk of ‘breaking the wheel’ a Targ restoration would most likely be more of the same. With the North desperate to cling onto its recently regained independence, Dorne and the Reach without their liege lords and the Riverlands in particular destroyed by the years of war fought among high lords, i can’t imagine the smallfolk being content to accept a foreign queen who tends to further destroy things, even if (maybe even especially because) she has dragons. All of which is assuming the living beat the dead and there’s still someone around to sit the throne and people to rule.
Predictions / Wishlist:
WOLVES - I desperately need D&D to have sacrificed some of their gratuitous  dragon shots to give us some direwolves. If I don’t see Ghost in episode one I’m rioting.
Battle for Winterfell - This is confirmed to happen e3, only halfway through the season, which means that defeating the night king may not be the endgame conflict like we thought. I don’t think the battle of Winterfell will be the total defeat of the walkers, however. The living are gonna sustain HEAVY casualties that will definitely change the course of the story moving forward.
I very firmly believe that Jaime’s arrival at Winterfell will be huge. The reveal that Cersei has broken the truce will cause Dany to abandon the Northern cause to attack King’s Landing - we saw shots of dragons over king’s landing in the trailers, and Dany doesn’t  appear in any of the clips of  the actual battle at Winterfell - in addition, scenes with her, Tyrion, and Varys appear to be at Dragonstone. since the trailers probably only include clips from the first few episodes, i feel like this is basically a given. Whether or not her armies accompany her isnt certain - I have a feeling Dany is going to lose a lot of followers and allies this season as we witness her fall from power.
As for the battle itself, I’m very excited from the clips to see Jaime and Brienne fighting together, finally seeing Arya on a battlefield, and praying for Ghost and Nymeria (&her pack) to make an appearance.
Political!Jon - basically the only way I can accept the character inconsistencies and plotline of s7. There’s some amazing metas on this. I really want to believe it’s not just bad writing and that Jon has been playing the game to achieve his goal of securing Dany’s dragons - at any cost. It would definitely subvert GA expectations - for some reason they still think Jon is this intensely honorable man who is incapable of lying or manipulation - despite the entire wildling storyline???? wild. please redeem yourselves, D&D
Dark!Dany - I’m not gonna lie. I hate dany. I don’t like her as a person or a character. On rewatch of the entire show, I realized just how much I detest her attitude, decision making, and actions. She is entitled and foolish. Now that she’s in Westeros and actually faces conflict and characters who weren’t created to serve her storyline specifically, she is starting to crack. Her actions over s7 displayed just how precarious her relationship with power is, and how easily she could become another mad king. I would love for her to become the final enemy that needs to be defeated after the white walkers once her allies realize her true nature. She’s a conqueror and capable of inspiring loyalty, but as the meereen arc showed, an incapable ruler.
King’s Landing - it’s gonna burn y’all - at cersei or danys hands or both
SSQOTSK- If someone has to rule all of the Seven Kingdoms, who is more qualified than Sansa Stark? She has the right family name, the loyalty of at least 2 (if not 3) of the 7 Kingdoms, and is a just and practical ruler who wants her subjects to love her. This one is a stretch, because she really has no claim (unless she marries Jon, I guess I’d be okay with them co-ruling). More realistically and I think preferably, I’d like to see her ruling the Independent North as Queen in the North. Whether this means a marriage to Jon or him being out of the picture (maybe as King in the South, although I don’t see that happening). Or Jon remaining in the North and Sansa co-ruling with him from the South. Basically, I just really think Sansa is one of the few legitimate contenders for a decent ruler. She would bring peace and prosperity to the seven kingdoms and help them survive the winter. in dream fairy-tale world, Davos can be her Hand and Brienne her Queensguard.
No more kings - personally, I want Thrones to end with the Iron Throne gone entirely. GRRM has said in the past that the sociopolitical aspects of fantasy are important to him - “What is Aragorn’s tax policy?” and the books in general make a point of condemning the corruption and flaws of the monarchal/ruling class of the seven kingdoms. I personally hope either that the 7 kingdoms will split again and govern themselves independently, or that westeros will shift to a more democratic system (slowly, of course - and not easily.) GRRM loves to subvert tropes and expectations, and i think this would be exactly the kind of twist he would do. Of course, the show might not like that and play into the audience’s desire to have someone “win” (as long as the Starks get some peace and happiness). I want the throne melted down and the (probably burned) Red Keep used to rebuild King’s Landing after cersei/dany destroys it with wildfyre/dragons.
CLEGANEBOWL - Okay this is basically confirmed but i have been wanting it for SO LONG!!!!! I don’t think either of them will win tbh - we havent really seen the mountain in action since his resurrection, but he’s still bigger and stronger than Sandor. I think it will be the end of them both.
Cersei/Sansa reunion - There is some foreshadowing/hints/theories about a kidnapping plot, in which Cersei brings Sansa back to KL. Whether it’s true or not, I hope that under some circumstances we get to see these two go toe-to-toe again. Sansa learned a lot from Cersei, and has since surpassed her as a player in the game. any interaction between them will be incredible, and I desperately want to see Sansa outsmart Cersei and “cast her down” a la the prophecy.
endgame ships:
Jonsa
Jaime/Brienne
Gendarya
Crackships I would be okay with:
Sansa/Jaime
Who Lives?
Sansa Stark - As mentioned, one of the most underestimated and underrated characters on the show, Sansa has already survived hells that none of the other characters (besides maybe theon) could comprehend. She is one of the characters GRRM’s wife said he isn’t allowed to kill off - of course, the show has kind of diverged from the canon of the books, so that might not matter. More importantly - it has been foreshadowed more than once that Sansa is meant to live through the endgame.
Tumblr media
And if anyone has been shown as a competent leader capable of ensuring the survival of her people through the winter, it’s her - she has a mind for governing, is fair ruler with common sense. she’s learned from the best.
Arya and Bran - She’s the other one GRRM isn’t allowed to kill. I personally believe all the Starks (with the exception of Jon) will survive.
Jamie and Brienne - (spoilers) it was accidentally confirmed by Gwen Christie that Brienne (& probably jamie) survive. Personally if it wasn’t for this I would assume they both sacrifice themselves.
Sam & Gilly - They have to survive and help rebuild. They are the dream of spring.
Other Characters I love and want to live:
Dolorous Edd
Bronn
Gendry
Who Dies?
Missandei and Greyworm are screwed, sorry
Cersei - she needs a good conclusion though - when she dies i want it to be on her own terms.
Jon Snow (?) -  I can’t decide on this one. I’m torn about him living, I feel like once his “destiny” is fulfilled it doesnt make sense to keep him around as a character besides fanservice
Dany - there’s no way she survives im sorry
Jorah - Dies defending her
Greyjoys - maybe Euron will actually chicken out and escape with his life to the east or something, but I think Cersei will kill him once he fulfills his purpose. Yara’s already dead imo. Theon.... I am conflicted about. But I feel like things dont look good for them. At least give Theon a noble death and Euron a satisfying one
Davos - I so desperately want him to live and Serve as Jonsa’s Hand but I think he’ll not survive
The Hound - Cleganebowl will end in both Cleganes dead
Melisandre - I love her but it’s time

Dear Sinless,
I have no idea where that came from, for one thing.  I’m neither almighty nor all-knowing, but I appreciate the praise (even if it’s supposed to be sarcastic -- I can’t really tell).
Tumblr media
Dear sinyove,
You look familiar...
Anyway, that’s a good question.  Sweating isn’t something you just forget how to do, so I imagine AJ Phoenix still sweats in nervous situations, just not as often since he isn’t involved in courtroom proceedings.  Plus he works at a cold restaurant, so that’s probably helped to cool him down a little.
Tumblr media
Dear sinyove again,
Sorry, but there’s no way for us to do that without answering it right away, so we’ll probably have to leave it as it was.  We’ll change it if we remember, though.

Dear CreatorOfSinyove,
That’s a pretty cool mashup, but I’m a little confused as to why you wanted me to call you by a different name.  You can always send letters with whatever name you want if you log out of your account first.  (Please forgive me if I’m missing something obvious here.)

Dear Ethan Starbright,
Cute!  Unfortunately, I haven’t seen the play, so sorry for not getting the references.
Dear Ethan Starbright,
I'm not sure how I feel about Dahlia being Eliza... But a more important question, does that make Miles Burr? Or maybe Godot?

Dear Anonymous,
I wasn’t sure if this was meant for Phoenix or for us, so I’ll go ahead and answer it.  He’s saying he wouldn’t hire Shelly de Killer because he himself would end Kristoph.  You’d better hope and pray we never have to see that timeline.

Dear skibot99,
It’s hard to say since I enjoy just about all of them, but my least favorite case is probably Turnabout Big Top.  The characters were charming, but the story was slow-going, and the contradictions were way too hard to figure out sometimes.
Incidentally, my favorite case is Turnabout Time Traveler.  It delighted me to see that the writers at Capcom still had it in them to make such a fun and imaginative legal adventure for Phoenix and Maya after all these years, and that neither of them had last their edge as clever and quirky crime-solvers.  I also happen to be a homeless hopeless romantic, and the idea of a man rescuing his bride from certain death (and the two of them continuing to love each other despite his anterograde amnesia) was incredibly touching for me.  In the words of Huey Lewis, “The power of love is a curious thing.”
Dear skibot99,
I honestly don't think I have a least favorite case, because maybe in one case I dislike how the story is proceeding (very slow or confusing), but I may find the characters very interesting, and vice versa.
However, my favorite case would have to be Rise from the ashes or any case from AAI2.

Dear skibot99 again,
I haven’t really seen enough of the anime to judge it as a whole, but from what I’ve seen of it, it’s definitely worth watching.  I'd have to say that I prefer the games overall -- though, to be fair, I’d probably say that about any cartoon based on a game -- but the music, voice-acting, and animation are all pretty spectacular, and I love how many extra details it includes that would’ve been practically impossible to fit into the original trilogy games.  The adaptation from game to anime is fantastic as well, but I definitely prefer the English dubs over the Japanese ones.  Japanese is a lovely language, but hearing the characters speak English, rather than only seeing it, opens the series up to a much wider audience, and you’ve gotta love that.
Speaking of Japan, I’d say the best change to the storyline is having Phoenix and company actually live there instead of America, so we no longer have to wonder where all the Japanese culture is coming from or call it “Japanifornia” -- true, that inconsistency has made for some hilarious jokes, but at least now things make a little more sense.
As for the worst storyline change, it was sort of disappointing for me that Phoenix and Maya’s first encounter was so short -- they didn’t even say anything to each other until he visited her in prison.  It was still pretty sweet, but Maya’s introduction of herself to Phoenix was one of my favorite parts of the game, so I was sad to see that cut out of the anime.  I’ve never attempted to turn a video game into an anime, though, so I can let it go.
I do have to wonder why they thought they needed more than ten policemen to arrest Frank Sahwit, though...

Dear Bruce Goodman,
Aw, crud...  I accidentally smudged an important part of this letter.  And it was sent to us over a year ago, wasn’t it?  Sheesh, I’m getting clumsy...
In all serious, I prefer not to show the names of real-life politicians on this blog, but I hope you can put that information to good use.

Dear Anonymous,
Let’s see...

Yep, that’s a pretty uncanny resemblance, but I think it’s just coincidence.  I can’t imagine his mom letting him take on that sort of role, even if he had a stunt double.

Dear Anonymous,
I hate to spoil all your hard work, but I’m afraid I don’t know which image link you’re referring to (unless you meant this one).  Could you please clarify?

(Previous Letter)
Dear M,
Thanks a bunch, first of all.  There’s a lot to be said about the Royal Family of Khura’in (plus I tend to ramble anyway), so I did my best to keep it short.
Secondly, you’ve raised some good points.  I sort of snuck in the comparison to the Hawthorne twins at the last minute, so I didn’t give it as much thought as I probably should have.  It’d be more accurate for me to say that I thought she was that she was too meek to disobey her sister (in fact, I went ahead and rewrote it that way in the essay).
I'm a huge fan of Iris, by the way, and I agree that she can be strong when the need arises, but there are at least a few things that led me to believe she still has a bad habit of caving in to pressure from others.  First, while she never actually obeyed Dahlia, she chose to do whatever was necessary to keep her crimes a secret, rather than making the harder but wiser decision of turning her in to the police.  Second, she was willing to cooperate with someone she barely knew (Godot), even to the point of taking a dead body and impaling it with a statue’s sword -- that took some guts, I’ll admit, but it also landed her in prison.  And third, she was willing to take the fall for everyone involved in the plan to stop Dahlia in case something went wrong.  Whether she decided to do that out of guilt for her past sins, or for some other reason, it was still highly questionable at best.  Take the blame for a murder I didn’t commit and let Godot have his way?  Sure, why not?
All that being said, I also believe that she managed to forgive herself after everything was out in the open.  Most of Iris’s responses were written by someone else (the ones with lowercase tags were written by the Mod), but I guess I have sort of portrayed her as still feeling guilty about her masquerade, and that does seem a bit out of character now that you mention it, so I’ll try to keep that in mind for future letters to her.  Thanks for bringing it up.
Also, while we’re on this subject, this comparison reminded me of this letter that I sent back before I was a moderator.  It’s sort of heartwarming, isn’t it?
(You were so sweet sometimes, Mod...  *sniffle*)
