Oh man, re: your ask about the questionnaire, having the q&a bit at the end of the last chapter or at the climax chapter being "what is your partner to you? How would you describe their importance in your life?" Or something similar would be..... insanely gut punching, they're such a neat writing device
the only research I have really done for this fic was to find a questionnaire online that a couples counseling center does actually use so I’ve been mostly going back to that pdf and picking and shaping the question to put at the end based on what’s happening in the chapter….I can totally see a question like “what does your partner mean to you” fitting somewhere in the chapters, but I can also see obikin’s overly dramatic asses saying something like “there are no words in any language I’ve found that properly describes what he means to me”

This is a random question, but what do you think the hunters of Artemis would be in a modern au? Like, what job would Thalia and the other girls have, or what would they all study in college?
Depending on AU, like what age groups you're shooting for, I feel like there's a decent number of options you can go for. For them as a cohesive group in aus:
All-girls school
Sorority
Girl scout troop
Rival/sister/neighboring camp to CHB
etc etc.
As for less cohesive group stuff, like jobs or college majors, probably like wildlife/environmental educators, zookeepers, park rangers, wildlife veterinarians, etc. And/or probably studying conservation education, zoology, and similar. Very outdoorsy or generally working with animals, lots of environmental education and conservation work, all that jazz.
Basically the only thing I can picture for Hunters in modern/mundane aus is them all wearing like rubber overalls up to their armpits and wading knee-deep in a swamp catching turtles. Three of them pinning down a gator Steve Irwin-style. Doing those bird of prey shows. All that jazz. Give me the perfect mesh between Thalia being punk as hell but also she gets off of work covered in woodchips and straw and animal poop. That's the vibe.

idk what your au is doing to me but i was unable to go to sleep (at 2 am while i was beyond exhausted!!) until i read some weird names for FF cause in my mind he must have a crazy, difficult and probably old as heck name so that's why they all use his last name... i need this au somewhere besides Tumblr so it's easier to read over and over again

The Most Handsome Man in the World for WIP Wednesday please!
Kotetsu learned that he had a new neighbor at 2pm on a Saturday, after he'd spent the morning helping Kaede volunteer at an animal shelter downtown, an adventure which resulted in six scratches down each of his arms and cat pee on his shirt. Fortunately, the shirt was an old one, so he'd thrown it away and the shelter had loaned him a different shirt to wear home.
Something he'd completely forgotten about until he was in the elevator heading back up to his apartment, and in walked the most beautiful man he'd ever seen in his life: curly golden hair, sharp green eyes, and a face that was almost too pretty to be real.

Am I playing Dragon Age: Origins for “A Chance Engagement” fic research, or am I procrastinating horribly from returning to that Regency AU Carver/Merrill longfic because I’m scared of fucking it up, you tell me 😂
Anyway, in all seriousness, I *was* playing DA:O for fic research – Chapter 57 has been half-written for ages until I remembered I was sending Merrill on a trip around Ferelden and Lothering and didn’t remember what Ferelden looked like 😂 but since I should have to fight the Broodmother soon, I’m not sure I particularly need *this* particular bit of DA:O for my fic research 😂😂😂

i believe titus was the name that won the poll, and that’s what i named him in sims :^] i was going for names that could be easily shortened since that’s a common quirk of johnny’s. so they just call him ty most of the time.
and i’m sure there’s a universe where the kinzteros kid exists. probably the same one as ty. i need some nebulous domestic AU so i can have johnny and aisha parents anyway. the sims universe is pretty much that. and kinzteros parents are just as funny to me. they would get into so much needless beef with others. also like i’d do anything to see johnny gat at a PTA meeting.

i have finally found the time to watch through the entirety of a court of fey and flowers and it has left me clawing the walls
a few thoughts, here and below the cut:
aabria is honestly one of my favorite gms to watch work. like, literally watch, i am 95% podcasts for my actual play media, but the visual elements of her games (esp. her npc facial expressions & acting choices) are so compelling. every damn time wuvvy looked at rue i died.
never not gonna be impressed with how smoothly this team integrated dnd combat & magic & skill checks with the good society framework to make a compelling, weighty, primarily social game. the unique tokens! (the significance to burning them!) the many pvp insight/deception checks over sighs and glances!!
brennan being an eternal gm is a crime, hob is The Most Character
like, picture me taking that character art of hob, printing it out, folding it up, and eating it. love him.
he’s a self-loathing emotionally obtuse plothound who claims to be bad with words but gives The Most Austen-style heart-wrenchingly vulnerable speeches. who else is doing it like him.
(seriously, if you’ve got regency media recs with hob-alike MCs I Want Them)
i am imagining some bonkers child creation magic — like, cabbage patch If You Want One It Will Grow stuff, genetics and gametes need not be involved stuff — that gives hob and rue an enormous passel of kids to love on and Treat Right, including at least one Owl With Bug Wings and two or three Literal Bears.
also picturing atla level confusion when the first one of those bears comes along. “just a bear?” “not a bugbear, not an owlbear, not a bugowlbear. just a bear.” “…this kid is weird.” “yeah, but we’re gonna love them like mad anyway right?” “oh yeah, of course, i’m just saying!”
deeply shocked andhera was able to sit through that detect thoughts at the tailor shop scene without blurting out SOMETHING, given his tendencies towards blurting out everything in other moments.
but like. imagine.
hob: the k stands for knickolas!!
rue: i love him.
andhera: oh shit, for real?! you love him for real??
disastrous. andhera fails to keep his mouth shut, four wounded two dead. (rip buddy, you were a real one)
otoh. now i’m imagining a fun little trivia game at rue’s nearlywed shower with questions like “where did they meet” and “who asked whom” that give them an excuse to retell all of these cute stories about their relationship, and one question is “when did rue first realize they loved hob?”
the answer is supposed to be after they danced all night at the masquerade, because rue thinks it’s fine to lie a little for the Romance of it all, but andhera’s like “oh, i remember that! it was when hob told them what the k in k.p. stands for!”
and he’s very :D satisfied with himself for winning his team a point! not noticing rue and hob’s very complex face journeys as they silently have a Conversation about this.
most shocking moment for me, a person who saw a fair number of acofaf gifs on my dash last fall: chirp marriage & child reveal, no question. the cast around her reacting is also very good, but the twist in itself was honestly so unexpected! and it works fantastically to give the lords of the wing motivation to join the larger plot on Our Heroes’ Side, i thought that was very smartly done.
and last but not least, a fun fact!
I did not realize this until the ap episode where omar confirmed ace andhera, but my first dnd character was basically a mash-up of andhera and rue.
like. they were an ace paladin poorly faking charm and coolness, using a normative appearance (“imagine a combination of chris hemsworth and chris evans”) as a facade a scared, nonnormative creature hid behind— unfortunately my BINX-alike PC friend died early in the campaign, and the plot took priority over character exploration. but still: same hat!
also: me now, looking back at that character: [miranda cosgrove ‘interesting’ meme with the nonbinary flag superimposed]

There was actually a sixth drawing I made with the other five, but then I ended up taking it in a direction that was so tonally different, it didn't feel right to put it with the others.
This would be right after Teldrassil, after the survivors are teleported to Stormwind, where Tarinne was at the time. She and her dad Thywen (who she was visiting) had rushed down as soon as they heard, but in the shock and chaos, it took ages for the two of them to find Cathala. They eventually did of course, but Tarinne still hasn't forgotten the brief moment before they did where she let herself consider that maybe she hadn't made it.

Casi is a Johtonian Sneasel
She and Lissie (Absol) form Team Nightlight, a team that specifically takes jobs at night because the two of them are nocturnal.
Spend most of their day sleeping somewhere shady. A huge motivator for why they do the work they do is so they can live a comfortable life during the day. Very unwilling to take jobs during the day unless it's something serious and even then will complain about it.
I personally believe a lot of other Pokemon would treat them with suspicion given that they're both dark types and Sneasels specifically are known to swipe things. They're allowed to stick around but there's always whispers about them in town, especially when something goes wrong.
Despite being eyed with suspicion they do try to help out, they often assist younger rescue teams that get lost in dungeons. Though Casi is known to ask for berries and items as payment for the help.

honestly the thought that Alice and Ingo had a brief encounter before his disappearance has been rattling around in my head for awhile now! He'd just turned twenty, and he and Emmet had freshly been hired as Depot Agents when he comes across a woman his age who looks very lost. not a problem! Guiding people is part of the job!
He asks if she's lost, and the pale woman asks if knows the best route to get to the Celestial Tower. He directs her to the line that services Mistralton City, and tells her to get off at that station. She gives him a very eerie smile and thanks him, and hurries off to catch her train. He hopes she made it to her destination!
