Thoughts (And Prayers)
On a new character idea I had that I’ll probably never get to play:
A compleated elf bard (college of swords) with a scimitar in their arm. Doesn’t agree with the tenets of the Phyrexian code and doesn’t try to constantly compleat others- although does personally believe Phyrexians are more beautiful than others. Happy-go-lucky attitude hides ✨trauma✨. Also heavily disagrees with the concept of gender and associated stereotypes and thus identifies as agender, using they/them pronouns.
(Let me know your thoughts (and prayers) in the comments and reblogs)

I'm curious, you got any cars/ships n why?
Ohhhhhh boy.
Okay Flo and Ramone obviously. Beyond the Canon, the idea of a relationship lasting so well and so strongly just. Yessssss. I love it so much. Also I love Flo so much.
Then I've got my two OCs, Jasmine(smart car) and Milo(Dodge Ram), they started from two jokes, one being the idea of them trying to make... things, work considering their size, and one being the idea of a smart car challenging a truck to a game of chicken.
They grew far beyond that and have a backstory, and lore spanning multiple decades. Jasmine is very angry and easily frustrated, Milo is a giant teddy bear. Eventually they adopt a Nissan Juke named Jukester.
Which leads to my third ship, Jukester and Ruth(early design Toyota Yaris hatchback). Just recently made that one. They're in a platonic relationship. Jukester went through things as a young kid that left him s*x repulsed and ace. Ruth still experiences s*xual attraction and needs, but fell in love with Jukester enough to be willing to give that up to stay with him. So they are THE bffs for life, snuggles, cuddles, platonic dates, always together. You name it. They're also both total nerds(obscure board games, MtG, DnD, conventions, etc etc)
Anyways really sorry for going off so much. I just love all of them a lot. Flomone cuz, like. Goals. Jasmine and Milo cuz they're both relatable af. Jukester and Ruth cuz Juke a mood fr and so they're also goals lol.

ok........ my favorite accumulated bg ships.......
Feel free to send prompts, ask headcanons, etc !
⭐ - Big Faves 😈 - Dubcon OK 💀 - Noncon OK CW Incest (Durge/Orin, Raphael/Mephistopheles)
My Tavs/Durges/OCs:
Tareth - my main Tav. Emotionally repressed warlock drow. Yuta - OC. Tiefling Grave Cleric. Rapunzel/Cinderella trope. Huitzil (x) - Embrace Durge. White Draconic Sorcerer. Blood is Sacred. To Bleed is to Love. Blood is Life. Death is an extent of Life. Sahariel - Resist Durge. Vengeance Paladin Aasimar. He thinks he's better than Bhaalspawn but there are just as many corpses. Aurelio - OC I intended to ship w Astarion. He's an Ixalan Vampire from the MtG Universe, which is within the DnD and BG3 Multiverse. He is a paladin sun-walking vampire whose culture worships vampires as protectors.
I'm really burnt out on Astarion so unless it's a very interesting dynamic, please consider someone else!
I have not had Minthara in my party yet so I apologize for her lacking. I do have some ships with her tho bc she's hot <3

Have you ever thought of making another "your fave is X" blogs?
I was close to making an MTG one and started making flags for different mana combos but the flags were hideous and I was conflicted on how far to go. Should Naya and Cabaretti get different flags? What about factions that don't have canon symbols to put on the flags too?
Then I started making transparent card borders to just make fake cards but that also was getting very complicated very very quickly (alt borders, various colour combos, legendary vs nonlegendary, planeswalkers, ect). There's a part of me that would still maybe like to try either of these but I need to either make less ugly flags or find a program that makes the cards easier lol.
I did very VERY briefly run a "your fave got a smash invitation" but I got bored very quickly but that was a fun gimmick
Thinking about it, maybe I could do a dnd themed one? "Your fave plays dnd" or "your fave dnd class" and then flags for different classes and maybe a thing for subclasses? Getting over complicated again but eh could have potential

This recent debacle with New Phyrexia makes me wonder if WotC would benefit from having a setup similar to Games Workshop's Black Library where authors can write novels set in their various franchises. I know they do have some novel/short story type publishing (like with the Big Official MtG Plot Novels) but not on the scale of the Black Library.
Because while Warhammer 40k and Age of Sigmar do have novels dedicated to the big plots with major characters doing important shit, they also have smaller stuff that fleshes out the settings and gives people not interested in whatever the big plot is doing something to enjoy.
And also, and I cannot stress this enough, it would help draw in more fans who aren't interested in or can't afford the games. Personally, I find the setting of MtG really interesting but it's not that accessible to me as someone who doesn't play the card game. Most of my knowledge of the setting comes from you And who knows, maybe people who start primarily as fans of the novels will eventually decide to buy magic cards or DnD books to play!
Because, while Warhammer 40k and Age of Sigmar do have novels dedicated to the big plots with major characters doing important shit, they also have smaller stuff that fleshes out the settings and gives people not interested in whatever the big plot is doing something to enjoy.
It also allows for much more feedback about what kinds of things the fanbase wants to see in stories overall. And there are certain recent major changes to the W40k setting that I and many others strongly suspect are due in part to fan reactions to the novels.
And while the stories of MtG/DnD and 40k/AoS are delivered very differently (the novels really are the primary medium for 40k/AoS at this point) I'm sure WotC could work something out.
There used to be novels.
I wish I knew how to write for them. I’d do it in a heartbeat.
Though they might get tired of my “wait, how does Major Plot Point X gel with Already Existing Plot Point P? The only explanation I can come up with is Y, but I’m not sure how resonant I can make that. Maybe [sample]?”
Cos I’d totally do that, I’ve pretty much done that at every workplace ever.
And some people are REALLY keen on revision to improve the ultimate product and some people are REALLY strange about it, and it’s very hard to predict who’s gonna be invested in that way.
I mean i Can and do TELL people I’m base blue aligned but then they see it and occasionally shit bricks. 🤷🏽

December 16, 2022: Avatar Way of Water releases
I’ll be 30 this coming year. It has been 12yrs, 11mo, and 29 days between Avatar films. 410,140,800 seconds. It is an interesting feeling to come back to a world depicted on screen after so much time has passed, very nearly half the amount of time I’ve been alive.
My initial impressions of Avatar Way of Water is that if you enjoyed living in the world of Pandora in the first movie and would love some more adventures in Pandora you will enjoy the second movie. If you liked the tighter moviegoing experience the first offered you will feel a little let down. I don’t think this is a bad movie by any means, nor is it a mediocre movie. It is good. It just isn’t as tightly crafted as the original movie was.
God knows, it’s been so long most movies have been remade since then. Or revived under new premises a la Fantastic Beasts (which is a whole other animal to tackle). But I fully understand I’m coming to Way of Water with an entire kit of analytical skills I did not have when I watched the first movie, and this will impact my enjoyment of the second and let me look back fondly on the first.
Thinking between these two, not much has changed. Humans are one note greedy, comfortably made into cannon fodder for thrilling fight sequences. The navi are in tune with nature, peaceful, someone we can root for without complicated emotions. We have a new McGuffin or item everyone wants but it gets a back seat to the grudge match that takes importance over it. And rightfully so.
This is a movie that wants to do a lot of things in the three hours and twelve minutes it runs for. I’m not sure it is successful in all of them, feeling a bit like Star Wars Episode IX in that scenes run fast and loose, a little too loose in some places. The ending especially felt that fervent pace and could not slow down where it really needed to and let some scenes sit for more than a few seconds, instead summarizing via voice over because with 20-30mins of trailers frontloading this your audience has been sitting for four hours and we gotta get👏this👏shit👏going.
This movie s a Star Wars in that its science fantasy and don’t worry we can just make computer chip copies of your brain. It’s also a Toy Story 3, we’ve aged up the characters and moved their lives along to reflect the aging audience who first watched Avatar. It’s also a Star Trek IV where we’re saving the whales. This movie is trying to be a lot of things in 3hrs 12mins. Roughly, it succeeds.
There is a lot to be charmed by in the world of Pandora. It is a different kind of movie because in describing it, the movie acts more like an immersive experience with the viewer so I wouldn’t say “characters do X Y and Z” but you as the audience get to “make friends with a whale” and “learn to ride alien dolphins”. It is a world that continues to be lovingly crafted, like sitting in dnd with a dm who has laid out so much of their own lore and worldbuilding its just a delight to immerse yourself in.
Even when it is unfocused Avatar Way of Water is far and away a better experience than so many other theater movies. It’s drop dead gorgeous, and it doesn’t mind getting its hands dirty in that new aquatic environment immersing scenes in and out of water with ease. If you enjoy escapism I absolutely recommend seeing it while it’s in theaters, preferably IMAX.
A lot has changed since the first Avatar dropped 12 years 11 months and 29 days ago. Well, longer now, writing this on January 2nd. This movie is a comfortable return to the world of Pandora with uncomplicated premises and setups that do not challenge the viewer. It is a movie made by an action movie director with a long resume of quality work. If you bothered reading through my ramblings you likely have already made up your mind on whether or not you’d enjoy such a thing. I give a recommendation to seeing it, I love fantasy, I love escapism, and I love the world of Pandora. I am always down to revisit this chapter and will be excited to see later movies. Is it perfect? God no. There’s alien jesus, major death retcons, silly pacifism philosophies, its got flaws. But I do enjoy the quality of the world it gives me. Its one of the few things that can instill a sense of childlike wonder in myself and I treasure that sensation greatly.

I’ve been making some D&D stat blocks for MtG creatures (mostly Ravnica and New Phyrexia, including the praetors) and none of the iconic ones are finalized enough to share, but I did work on this cryptid friend
Tumblr media
All other Simic creatures are either humanoids (Simic hybrids), beasts, or monstrosities, but the Simic manipulator has always struck me as so eldritch and weird that I decided to make it an aberration, and its innate spellcasting and abilities reflect its very unusual (for a Simic, anyway) psionic expertise.
I know it says CR 6, but I’m gonna be honest here, I have no idea how to actually calculate CR.
Might also lower the DC for the Biomantic Compulsion ability because of how powerful it can be.
But really, what is under that hood?

I had the pleasure of being shown around the Patriot Games Ltd store in Sheffield today (@patriotgamesltd UK). The gaming area upstairs is vast, clean and well resourced. As well as having one of the largest selection of RPGs on shelves I've seen in this part of the world, boardgames, skirmish and many tabletop goodies, Patriot Games also specialise in customised mats and printed dice trays (qv. All Rolled Up and friends) - sourcing a plethora of art and product themes which today's meeting was partly about. It was utterly fascinating to peak behind the curtain at the production premises, observing that cauldron of dark arts away from the shiny shop. I could tell you more, but then I'd have to sell you something. ;) (With much thanks today to Paul Moore and servile minions) #tabletopgaming #RPG #roleplaying #MTG #magicthegathering #x-wing #DnD #patriotgamessheffield #FLG #battlemat #gamingmat #sheffield

playing a lot of dnd & mtg w/ my irls
making music videos for some bands (stress!!!! stress!!!! dumb!!!!! why did i do this?!)
trying to find a new apartment cos my lease is up dec 1
drinking w my alcoholic friends cjsjxksksksn
i’ll be back!!! i still like green day and billie!!!
idk this is weird, but i’ve also been feeling really bad about gaining quarantine weight and that’s connected to green day cos when i first saw them i was 60 lbs overweight and i saw billie pull someone on stage during their club tour and i was in AWE and idk i was so inspired by billie and green day that i wanted to LOOK GOOD if i ever got on stage and then i lost 60 lbs and i was HOT!!!! I WAS SO HOT AND I DIDNT APPRECIATE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I WAS 111 LBS AND PEOPLE WOULD JUST GIVE ME FREE SHIT COS I WAS ATTRACTIVE AND I STILL THOUGHT I WAS FAT
and now i’ve gained like 25 lbs since the pandemic and i feel disgusting and i don’t have? green day to inspire me to lose weight again, idk. it’s all connected in my mind.
like, my brain is telling me this: i love green day. i’m not allowed to enjoy green day again until i lose 10 lbs. i can’t lose 10 lbs cos i don’t have any discipline. i’m only allowed to enjoy green day if i’m at an appropriate weight or i’m losing weight.
thin girl privilege is REAL and i want it BACK......

Combat Commentary
Tumblr media
Thank you all for your entries! Here is commentary for all the entries that weren’t winners or runners-up. I hope that this format, along with the gallery, allows for people to get everything they can out of the Fair.
Tumblr media
@ace-hobo — All for One // One for All
This was a clever use of the split-card naming convention, and I liked this card in general. There’s an amount of math to do that can make combat difficult, and if this card isn’t uncommon it probably should be. It’s hard to make it out with that symbol. Regardless, a fine card, costed effectively, a good split. Some people might be pedantic about the name; I think it’s nice.
Tumblr media
@competitive-casual-magic — Oil and Fire
Now this is a cool card. Wrecking Ball, but shock, but deathtouch, but not. What an interesting idea. I like the fact that it deals two damage to any target, not just a creature. Giving it flash is very cool. I imagined a lot of scenarios in which this card could blow out someone during combat and make for some complex scenarios. I don’t think this should be rare, personally, but maybe it’s complex enough. In something like Modern Horizons, it would be uncommon. For standard, hm... I’m on the fence about that.
Tumblr media
@dabudder — Adrenaline Sliver
This card irks me, not because you did anything mechanically wrong or because it’s not a great idea, but because it gives slivers a boost based on the number of slivers you control rather than +3/+2. Part of the flavor of bloodrush was the fact that it based it on the creatures P/T and abilities. The dissonance in this specific card is frustrating. Still, forget that. I love the concept. I do enjoy this card. Don’t forget in future iterations to capitalize all instances of the word “Sliver.”
Tumblr media
@dancepatternalpha — One Last Fight
Follower really liked this card. I liked it as a combo piece. Flavorfully, it’s pretty neat and I like the effort that you put into the flavor text. It’s very difficult for a new player to understand exactly what use this card does without understanding how combat works, but that’s what makes it a good uncommon. I imagined pairing this with Spikeshot Elder and having fun there, heh.
Tumblr media
@fivetrillionelves — Conquer Fear
Interesting card, pretty strong trick! I like the way it makes one of White’s weaknesses, its small creatures, a lot better. Flavor text does need that end quote. Not a whole lot to say about this card. It gets the job done. Might be hard to understand in multiples on the same creature, though.
Tumblr media
@fractured-infinity — Unstoppable Curiosity
I am not a fan of this card, clever as it is. I don’t like buffing an opponent’s creature just for minor card advantage. If this was “Whenever a creature deals combat damage to you this turn, draw a card” or some effect where you could utilize the weakness without making yourself weaker, I feel like this card could be cool. As-is, I’d never use this card on an opponent’s creature. On my own, it’s not bad. “Trample” doesn’t need to be capitalized. Also, I JUST got the flavor text. It’s a touch unclear.
Tumblr media
@ghost3141596535 — Bullshift
He, nice name. I can see that you intended this for Ikoria, and I like that aspect of it. Thank you for marking the rarity. Don’t forget your periods. As someone who hasn’t played with mutate, I can’t really say how strong this card is in practicality. It’s odd that it allows for mutate in creatures without mutate. I don’t know how that works within the rules.
Tumblr media
@guardgomabroa — Sudden Desertion
I really like the flavor of destroying an army (which should be capitalized) but I feel that that’s too narrow to really have a strong reason to exist. It’s a cute card that’s using Magic naming conventions for flavor reasons rather than the game itself. Maybe that’s enough. I’m a little more of a stickler. It’s kinda cute, though, and I’m a fan of white removing things from combat, too. Maybe in WAR it could have been played.
Tumblr media
@i-am-the-one-who-wololoes — Desperate Effort
I don’t believe “sacrificing” a “target” blocks well. The fact that it makes this card need two targets is confusing. Why not just “As an additional cost” the sacrifice? What’s the point of doing a creature that your team controls? Why only an unblocked creature? Why does it give the +X/+Y effect instead of a simpler +X/+X effect? I think that this card has too many moving parts and could have been simplified significantly while keeping the same strong flavor.
Tumblr media
@machine-elf-paladin — Hunger of the Grave
This card was a contender for runners-up. It also could have used flavor text. It’s a great addition to Zombie tribal, great with graveyard strategies, well-worded and powerful with the lifelink. Not much to critique here. Good job.
Tumblr media
@mardu-lesbian — Phantasmal Fallacy
I like what you did with the name. I think that this is a powerful cantrip that’s playing with some design space. “Planeswalker” becomes a 4/4? That’s a control card for sure. I’ll smack you in the face with a Mind Sculptor. The cantrip might be too powerful, as four power is pretty strong as-is, but I think this card is basically fine and pretty fun.
Tumblr media
@misterstingyjack — Quickdraw
Interesting card. I like the magically influenced gunslinging flavor and what can be done with other equipment in this set. The fact that this can essentially be a five-mana do-nothing spell without so much as a cantrip is frustrating. This card should be, I feel, three mana at most. Might require playtesting, but still. Definitely not five.
Tumblr media
@nikkatsu-dnd-mtg — Trade-Off
Firstly, this card’s name doesn’t stand on its own without flavor text to back up whatever’s happening, and the fact that there’s no flavor text is a major blow. I’m not sure why it’s an Arcane spell, and I’m definitely not sure why this is common. This card is a blowout and a half. Getting tokens is worth it, and swinging with a team of 6/6s minimum is insane. It’s a one-mana go-wide spell that should cost at least five mana and be at least uncommon. I know you thought that static abilities was a good enough loss, but I assure you: it is not.
Tumblr media
@nine-effing-hells — Bardic Performance
I’m on the fence about this card, even though it’s probably good. You took the fairly complex addition of sagas and made it a simple and fun buff in the vein of Travel Preparations. I think this card is a fine uncommon, probably. There’s a tiny bit of disconnect between bard things and counters like that, but the flavor can be bent, and I can just suck it up. This card is good.
Tumblr media
@piecesofliquid — Instinct of Greed
Concept is good. There are three specific things I would do to improve this card. One: Change the name to “Greedy Instinct.” No real reason, I just like it. Two: Most importantly, I would change the “exile” to “sacrifice” and take out “you control.” Sacrificing is only something you can do anyway, and it would work better with other red strategies. Three: The flavor text needs to be in quotes. Other than that? Again: good.
Tumblr media
@real-aspen-hours — Sudden saplings
Yeah, as you said in Discord, this card is basically Blinding Fog. Instead, let’s talk about improvements for future submissions! Firstly, the card name should be capitalized; I copied it exactly as you submitted it. Secondly, you didn’t include a rarity, which is something you need to consider. Thirdly, if the flavor text is a quote, which it appears to be, it needs to be in quotation marks. That’s all I can think of off the top of my head. Card’s fine for a functional reprint, lol. I like how you changed it to “by creatures” for a more Fog-gy effect. Why ALL creatures?
Tumblr media
@shandylamb — Knowledge Breeds Strength
Strict +X/+X effects are not in Blue’s slice of the color pie. This is a green card through and through. I think the flavor text could have been a little more creative. The idea, however, is sound. This card would have been fine twenty years ago, probably. I don’t mean to sound snarky with that; it’s simply something old Blue could have done that isn’t done anymore.
Tumblr media
@snugz — Necromantic Ninjutsu
I am of the opinion that this card should be rare. I am also of the opinion that if this card was rare it would have won above and beyond. What a fantastically creative card. Follower loved it, as did I. For a standard set, though, rareify that baby. Great great great job.
Tumblr media
@starch255 — Invisible Wall
Wow, this card is... Not Fun At Uncommon In Limited. The idea is sound and I would love playing this card, but it’s just too much! The hexproof, nuts. The nigh-infinite life, crazy. What a frustrating card to play against. If this was FOUR mana, I might consider it. However, I do like how trample effs this card over. Regardless of that, though, I’m not a big fan, no matter how much if a fan I am. If that makes any sense.
Tumblr media
@teaxch — Serene Crane Maneuver
Interesting! I think this is one that needs the two targets, unfortunately, but I can imagine how this would work in limited. I would probably only sideboard this card if I felt really really clever, but I like it for flavor reasons and mechanical reasons. Again, I just wouldn’t...play it, necessarily. Maybe I would, but it would take the right environment. This is a volatile card.
Tumblr media
@theobligatorysql — Combat Trick
This card absolutely needs to be an uncommon and absolutely needs a better name/flavor combo. Now, I do like it mechanically, and it’s pretty cool, but I’m not a fan of the fact that this is a meta-card. In a vacuum, I freakin’ love it. I feel that this card would go well in something like a Custom Cube.
Tumblr media
@tmstage — One-Two Punch
Very cool. Aethertouch is one of those things that you’re introducing that I would have to see played out before I pass judgement on it. As of right now, I think that this card could have been a cantrip or something. “Non-lethal damage” — hm. Not sure how I feel about that, though. But I assume also that blue is what makes this card Jeskai. Personally, for three colors, I’d like to see something simpler and/or more streamlines. New concepts are scawwy, o noes!... In all seriousness, keep Aethertouch for future designs.
Tumblr media
@walker-of-the-yellow-path — Meat Shield
“Target creature GAINS indestructible until end of turn.” It’s an actual ability now, remember? Aside from that, this card is...fine for one mana. It’s not perfect, it’s kinda clunky, but it seems like something WotC would print so you have that going for you. I like the simplicity of the flavor text.

X Mage and Fate
First off, anyone interested in playing that X-Mage Commander game this weekend? I think it’ll be fun and I know some of you were interested!
Second, anyone wanting to RP? I know we’ve got a lot of characters floating around and it could be fun. We could do something like DnD or Fate or just classic post-by-post RPing.
Thoughts?
