These massive stone structures called Broches were unseen in continental Europe and most of the British Isles. Built sometime during the Bronze age, Broches were unique to northern Scotland. Their creators were either of Celtic or Nordic background.

The Codex Runicus is a unique artifact from the medieval period. This codex, consisting of 202 pages, is written entirely in medieval runes around the year 1300. The manuscript includes the oldest preserved Nordic provincial law, known as the Scanian Law, which pertains to the Danish land Scania.
