Since bump (and i think morton?) were already puppetfied while boscha and matt were off fighting kikimora i do think this is a mindscape thing. The collector or belos is showing luz her worst fear aka everyone around her being petrified. Or since shes dressed like belos shes thinking that belos is responsible for hurting everyone and this is how her mind represents it. Or something.

I like to think when elders like Cutburn, Snapdragon or sometimes Vitimir call on someone “child”, it comes off with an air of demeaning to it. I imagine Snapdragon and Cutburn directing it at the more younger Coven Heads. Characters like Raine and Lilith try to not shuffle uncomfortably under their gaze while Darius just glares bold back. He doesn’t take shit from anyone and will not tolerate being talked down to. They’ve grown up seeing how they can be, and Raine hated how Snapdragon’s presence still effects them.

Morton has similar feelings whenever Vitimir decides to crawl out from his basement and decides to do surprise visits to his ex students. The young shopkeeper feels an icy cold chill at his presence of him looking over his shoulder as he stocks up.

There’s a nice way though. When any of the Elder Hexside gang run into Principal Bump, he always smiles and calls them by their first names. The adults try not to react much. Raine and Darius smile at him and wave as they are happy to see him. While Eda and Lilith nod or shrug in response, but secretly they are happy to see him. Odalia and Alador keep it strictly professional—at least Odalia does while Alador is fascinated by his Palisman. Bump sometimes wonders why he never went into Beast Keeping Track instead of Abomination, but knowing the Blight family, they perhaps wanted to keep him on a set path.

Then there are those who would use the term in sweet and sick manner to persuade a person to do what they desire or to force them under their thumb with praise like Belos does in order to keep certain individuals by his side until they are no longer of use.

I rewatched Hooty’s Moving Hassle yesterday and I couldn’t stop thinking about this until I edited it.
