seb’s best girl: meeting mick in malaysia || sv5 scenario (2)
Tumblr media
foster dad!sebastian vettel x daughter!ofc (filo!ofc)
EXTENSION TO CRAZY RICH WIFE AND SHE’S EVERYTHING… AND HE’S JUST MICK
Summary: Sebastian Vettel understood the downfalls of infertility just by being there for his wife. What he didn’t know, however, was that his life would drastically change when their foster daughter, Barbie Blanco, was put into their care. OR, what made Sebastian the best father figure to a teenager who had nobody but herself.
Scenario summary: Sebastian and Bel had taken their foster daughter to her first race, where she met the friends that she’d have forever. OR, it turns out that being alone in high school can could lead to happiness as Barbie met Mick for the first time in Malaysia— with the boy and his sister Gina getting curious about the Filipino girl.
Content warning: Fluff, mentions of isolation and sadness (Barbie not making friends in school), attentive people, Mick and Gina being siblings and wholesome, brief Tagalog dialogue + translation
Note: I’m planning to run on no sleep all day tomorrow so I’m going to post this before I nap hehehe enjoy some Mick and Barbie! xx

Sebastian made an effort to stay in the Philippines way before the 2014 season started— and throughout those two months of having Barbie in their care taught him quite a lot about her.
One of those things being the amount of sadness on her face whenever he’d ask her how classes went for her whenever he picked her up from school (he loathed the traffic in the Philippines with a passion).
She never said it aloud, seeing as she barely spoke English, yet her face — one that told him that she’s indeed his daughter — showed enough for him to understand her struggles.
Barbie loved people. She was attached to the hips with the sisters in the orphanage and now that she was a part of the Vettel family, Sebastian and Bel assumed that she’d easily get along with them and her peers at the private school.
Oh how wrong they were. The first month of high school told the couple enough that she wasn’t coping well nor adjusting— her peers in school didn’t make her feel less isolated and she was often found alone during the break, her teachers told them.
Sebastian and Bel hated being so helpless. Sebastian was due to start his season soon, and all he wanted to do was ease Barbie into the life she was introduced to. He wanted her to have many friends and have fun. What else was there for him to do?
Right.
A race passed by so quickly and the second round of the season started for the Red Bull driver when Sebastian and Bel flew her to Malaysia with her nanny, Angie. Or rather, Sebastian anticipated his wife’s arrival with Barbie and Angie in the hotel and found himself grinning at the sight of Barbie as the girl’s eyes brightened at the sight of Sebastian.
Barbie waved at him before Sebastian approached the girls and wrapped one arm around Barbie’s shoulder. It was a gesture that Barbie truly appreciated— Sebastian’s hug — and it was something she couldn’t deny herself such a gesture if he offered it.
Their first day in Malaysia consisted of touring the nearby attractions and buying souvenirs. Bel and Sebastian tried to coax Barbie into buying more than what she asked for— they knew that she was simply being humble and while they appreciated it they wished for her to ask for more. But alas, their attempt didn’t work as well as they had hoped.
Their second day was the very beginning of Sebastian’s race week in Malaysia. Barbie’s VIP pass slung over her neck as she walked side by side with Sebastian and Bel as the Red Bull driver taught her everything there was to the facilities and areas of the track during the race week— including the paddock.
Cameras took photos of the Vettel couple. The sight of the girl, however, was new for the media outlets as they captured some images of the girl as well while she listened attentively to Sebastian. It spooked her off— having her photos taken like she was a public figure and a celebrity— that she decided to hide a little more behind Sebastian and held onto the hem of his shirt as they both made their way around the grid.
Bel, noticing the behaviour of the girl, looked around and saw the cameras before she nudged Sebastian and gestured to the photographers subtly.
Sebastian had taken notice of what was happening as he leaned towards Britta— who walked alongside him and his family — and asked, “Can you please tell them not to take some photos, please Britta? It scares Barbie.”
Britta, his dear manager who’s done everything to keep him on a leash, nodded before walking off to handle the situation. Sebastian eventually led Bel and Barbie back to the Red Bull hospitality— where they found a group of blondes standing and chatting with other Red Bull staff.
“Oh hey! You guys are here!” Bel exclaimed, making Barbie flinch slightly at the tone of her foster mother’s voice.
Barbie could only observe their faces and it was safe to assume that they were relatives. The young boy looked about Barbie’s age and he looked… kind? Or cute. Barbie wasn’t sure.
But Sebastian and Bel knew these people so much that they could immediately tell Barbie that she would get along with the boy— that the boy was a kind one.
The older woman and another girl, one that looked a bit older than Barbie, chatted with Bel and Seb gleefully. Barbie wasn’t sure what it was about seeing as she was approached by the boy immediately.
“Hi,” he said with a smile, sticking his hand out as he introduced himself. “My name is Mick. I know Sebastian. What’s your name?”
Barbie’s face flushed, unable to answer the boy while she worried about what to answer. She was still learning English— and so this was very difficult for her.
“I— m—“ Barbie paused, looking at Sebastian and Bel for help. Her nanny was nowhere in sight, as well. She looked back at the boy— Mick, who tilted his head with an expectant look as she answered, “Barbie.”
“Barbie?” Mick’s blue eyes shrunk for a moment as he squinted and looked down at her Prada bag — one that Seb had bought her recently. “Like your bag— pink Barbie?”
“Mick,” the older woman chastised, “be nice, okay?”
“Mom, I’m just asking about her bag! She said her name is Barbie so I asked if that meant her bag— kind of like Barbie pink!” Mick reasoned out before Seb and the older woman looked at each other with a teasing smile.
“Yes Mick, that’s her name,” Bel answered for the girl, offering the boy a smile. “Barbara is actually her name and you’re going to have to bear with her— she doesn’t speak English as much yet.”
“Oh,” Mick uttered. “So how do I speak to her?”
“She can understand but not speak it, stupid,” the girl snorted, making Mick shoot her a glare before the girl approached Barbie. “Hello! I’m Gina— I’m this idiot’s sister.”
“Hi,” Barbie nodded politely.
“Hör auf, mich dumm zu nennen, Gina,” stop calling me stupid, Gina. Mick muttered in annoyance, the foreign words making Barbie pause and tilt her head in confusion.
The adults chuckled before Sebastian reached out to mess with Mick’s hair with a grin. “Ugh, Seb! Don’t do that!”
“You kids,” Sebastian tutted with a cheeky grin. “You know what? Why don’t you guys take Barbie around the track or paddock?”
Barbie’s eyes widened as she looked at Sebastian with a warning look, leaving the man to shrug, “You’ll like it around here, liebling— I think you’re going to get tired of having adults around all the time so Mick and Gina are here!”
“Absolutely,” Bel nodded with a smile, “besides, you’ll spend a lot more time with the two of them.”
Barbie shot her parents a puzzled look before Bel explained, “Mga kaibigan namin ‘yong nanay at tatay nila Mick at Gina.” We are friends with Mick and Gina’s parents. “Gets?”
Barbie nodded in agreement before asking, “Hindi ba puwede dito na lang ako?” Can I not just stay here?
“Puwede pero,” Bel paused, “nagtataka kami kung bakit tahimik ka sa school. Sabi ng teacher mo hindi ka daw nakikipagsocialize sa iba — they don’t want to, right?” You can but we’ve been wondering why you’re quiet at school. Your teacher said that you’re not socializing with others. “This is for your good, Barbie. Mabait yung dalawa and you’ll get along with them well.” The two (Gina and Mick) are nice.
Barbie looked back at the two blond kids with hesitation, but their smiles reached their ears as they spoke to their mother and Sebastian — it was no doubt that they were, indeed, kind.
Meanwhile, out of Barbie’s earshot, Mick asked his mother Corinna and Sebastian something that piqued his curiosity, “What language are they speaking, Mom? Seb?”
“Bel’s first language, duh,” Gina replied. “Taga- Tag-a-log? Is that right, Seb?”
Sebastian nodded, “Tagalog— Filipino— it’s Bel’s first language.”
“How come she can’t speak English?” Mick asked, referring to the girl.
“Some people can’t speak it well, Mick,” Corinna replied. “Remember she’s from a different country— like you are.”
“But I can speak English,” Mick pointed out.
Sebastian laughed at the boy’s comments as he said, “Barbie’s life is a bit more… complicated than ours, Mick. All you need to know is that she’s learning to speak English and if you kids don’t mind— help her out a little bit. Be friends with her.”
“She’s a very good girl,” Sebastian added. “I think you three would make a good chaos in the paddock once you start driving in the grid, Mick.”
“Eh, I don’t cause chaos,” Mick protested.
“Thus, he lied again,” Gina joked before nodding at Sebastian, “okay well, I’m taking her with me for some ice cream. It’s hot in here.” Then she walked off, approaching the Filipino girl to invite her for a walk around the paddock. The pair then left and waved goodbye at Bel and the adults.
Mick’s eyes widened, his bright pupils widening as well as he rushed after the two and exclaimed, “W- Oi! Wait for me, Gina!”
The adults looked at each other with knowing smiles, adoring the teenagers and their presence.
“So,” Corinna Schumacher grinned, “Bel, Seb— tell me how’s it been with Barbie at home so far!”
Tumblr media
The red bean ice cream on her cup was melting, all thanks to the weather in the circuit. That— and Mick’s excited tone as he spoke about the sport. Barbie was too drawn to and curious about anything that the Schumacher siblings were talking about.
“Dad actually knew Seb since he was a kid! You should ask him about the photos of him and Dad on his races back then,” Mick grinned before saying, “I also race but I’m not in this level of competition… yet.”
“Ah,” Barbie nodded, eating her ice cream while both Gina and Mick devoured their pandan flavoured ice cream.
“How about you?” Mick asked with a smile. “What do you like to do?”
Barbie hummed quietly and answered the best that she could, “I like to cook.” Her accent wasn’t as thick, but it was different.
“You’re a chef,” Mick nodded in approval, “I like that. I like food.”
“Ooh! Like that food Angie made before,” Gina piped up with an enthusiastic grin. “Chicken adobo. There’s a lot but that cuisine? Divine.”
As they chatted amongst themselves, Barbie couldn’t help but smile and nod. She’d sometimes pull up her phone to translate some things to interact with them if she couldn’t speak her thoughts out in her second language. And if Google translate was wrong, Gina and Mick would correct it and help her learn the sentence.
The way they spoke of her culture was… endearing. It was as if they were trying their best to understand who Barbie was and for the first time, Barbie felt like she belonged for once. Not even her peers in the Philippines were friendly like this.
She could get used to travelling with Sebastian and meeting with the Schumachers. Hell, she could get used to being best friends with them.
She wouldn’t mind being best friends with them.
And it seemed like Mick Schumacher was going to be stuck with her forever. They just didn’t know it yet.

i know that tenjiku is full of big scary men™️ but i love imagining them in silly lil scenarios, being regular teenage boys + young adults hehe
anyways some selfship lore below!! headcanons about how shion & tenjiku saved dice’s play during their 3rd year of high school!!
in my third year of high school, i was tasked with directing the school musical— a production of the disney film mulan. everything was going well until a week before opening night; all of my actors caught a stomach bug and were unable to perform in the play.
naturally i start tweaking TF out. shit out of luck, i enlist the help of shion, my best friend who was my classmate since middle school until he dropped out in our second year of high school. he promised me that he could get me great actors quickly, and i took his word for it.
well, he lied. the “great actors” in reference were his gangmates— the tenjiku boys. now i’m even more stressed because it’s a week before the first show and i have to teach these boys with NO acting experience all their lines, choreography, and lyrics. still, i decide to take a chance on them; maybe they’ll surprise me?
they did surprise me, because they were worse than i had imagined. they kept forgetting their lines even after i had just told it to them a few seconds prior; everyone has two left feet (save for the haitanis. who would’ve guessed that they actually had some finesse?) and finally, they were GOD AWFUL singers (except for izana, who actually has an amazing voice. those filipino genes really came in clutch! /lh)
so at this point i think all is doomed, that i’m going to be the laughing stock of my graduating class, and that the school is gonna be so mad at me for squandering all their money on this shitshow of a production. but then, shion’s offhanded comment ignites an idea in my mind.
shion: this shit is more like a comedy than a drama!!!
💡 <- physical representation of my mind at the time LOL
so we decide to lean more into the comedy aspect of the show! at least now if we suck it seems purposeful (rather than us genuinely sucking LMAO)
the following list is our cast for the production: shion as mulan, izana as li shang, hanma as mushu, tetta as cricket (LMAO), kakucho as shan yu, koko as li shang’s advisor, ran as ling, rin as yao, mocchi as chien po, mucho as the emperor, and sanzu as the dad and mom/grandma (i’ll explain how we pull that off later LOL)
we practice and practice and PRACTICE until opening night, AND MY GOD IS IT SO PERFECT. we decide to not have any of them sing and making them lipsync (that’d be too much for our poor eardrums lol) except for izana, who sings a solo of “i’ll make a man out of you.” his solo is a hit amongst the audience, and a few people even gave him a standing ovation after the scene!!
“a girl worth fighting for” makes the crowd erupt in laughter. we gave ran and rindou a dance solo and THEY SELL IT. rindou does the splits (and the crowd LITERALLY CHEERS), ran does some baton twirling tricks but with a wooden stick instead to keep it in universe. ran plays a really, really good ling— like he SELLS the role. he’s super loose and flamboyant (much like ling), and sometimes you can’t even tell if he’s acting or just being himself.
everyone does an amazing job, really, but let me list some standout moments for the charas i haven’t mentioned yet!!
koko: he didn’t even really wanna be in tenjiku, and now he has to be in this stupid play? fuck outta here. he’s so sassy & snappy delivering his lines as the advisor that he’s actually one of the fan favorites.
kaku: sweet, sweet kaku plays a menacing shan yu. at first he was a little awkward acting all brooding, especially against shion and izana, but eventually he really grew into the role :)
hanma + tetta: THE PERFECT PAIR. hanma just scheming and doing mushu things while tetta (as the cricket) stands quietly and judges every single thing he does. hanma is definitely the top fan favorite of the night; he and tetta made the crowd howl with laughter the whole show.
sanzu: POOR HARUCHIYO. he kinda got the short end of the stick :( but when life gave this boy lemons HE MADE LEMONADE. we had to dress one side of him masculine (as the dad) and the other side feminine (as the mom/grandma). and whenever he had to say lines in one scene but as 2 different people, we would just have him turn around to show who was speaking. this bootleg effect added for the comedic nature of the musical LMAO
mucho and mocchi just do what they always do: kept everyone in line when things got rowdy. i seriously wouldn’t have been able to keep all the boys in control w/out their help!!
shion: :,) he’s not the best actor and dancer, and he’s an even worse singer, but he tried his absolute hardest for me. he didn’t even care that he had to wear an itchy wig the whole time— he just hated seeing me so distressed. (bye i’m gonna cry LMAO)
anyways, we get a standing ovation at the end of the show, when everyone comes on stage to bow!! i initially didn’t want to come on stage and bow with them, because really, they were the stars of the night. but shion drags me onto the stage and makes me bow with him <3 and while i’m smiling and waving at my friends and family, he unexpectedly picks me up and puts me on his shoulders; the boys start jumping around and cheering my name too :,)
when the curtains close, shion puts me down. in a heightened state of elation, i hug him and he lifts me up and spins me around, the other tenjiku boys just watching like )^o^(
and while he’s holding me in his arms, squeezing me tight and listening to me giggle excitedly— that’s when he realizes that he has feelings for me <3
and that’s all for now folks! god i love this hc so much LMFAO (maybe i’ll put out confession hc’s next LOL)

since i clearly don’t what “my love” in everyone’s native language “babes” is the place holder word and you can imagine it as whatever “my love / love” is in your language !! also i haven’t done an ot7 post in a while so these might be kinda bad and lowkey might not make any sense 💔
also, the 500 followers event is closed (unless you decide to send one in tonight then i’ll still write it 👀 !! ) but somehow we hit 800 followers today !! how this blog managed to get like 200 followers while i was ia is beyond me 😭
but thank you everyone 🥺 i’ll be writing requests from the 500 followers throughout the week and responding to asks as well <33
Tumblr media
˚₊·˚♤˚· lee heeseung ˚₊·˚♤˚·
late one night you and hee are laying in bed, unable to sleep so you ask him,
“babes, wanna eat some ramen?” he’s like yes, ramen !! but wait,
“babes?” he asks. “isn’t that fish in russian?” (like that whole “te amo” means “i love you” in tagalog / filipino even though it actually means ‘i love you’ in spanish. but yeah, he’d probably think it was something completely different in another language lmao) once you realized what you just called him you tell him,
“it doesn’t mean fish, it means love in [insert your language].” the dots connect in his head and all of a sudden,
“i babes you,” you hear. you can’t help but smile at him and laugh a little because,
“that’s not how the grammar works, but at least you tried.” from then on if he wanted something from you he’d do aegyo and would say.
“babes, please !!”
˚₊·˚✎˚·  park jongseong / jay | self indulgent jay mini fic somewhat related to this req ˚₊·˚✎˚·
you’re chilling with jay one day and all of a sudden,
“hey, babes can you hand me the remote?” you ask. suddenly he’s frozen in place, looking at you like,
“did you just call me love in [insert your language]?” you look at him, slightly tilting your head to the side and you’re all like,
“huh, i guess i did.” in his head, his mind is going crazy because what ?? you l-word him ?? but then you’re just like,
“wait, how do you know what that word means?” and then he gets all flustered and begins to ramble.
“i went on a YouTube spiral at four am, and, uh… uhh… yeah, i just heard it. it sounded unique so i sorta just remembered.”
“when?”
“like, a few weeks ago.”
“what were you watching?”
“the basics to [insert your language] 101.” you’re shocked but not really since jay is basically a language genius. but now your heart feels all fuzzy and warm because he’s learning your language.
˚₊·˚ ✁˚· sim jaeyun / jake ˚₊·˚ ✁˚·
if anything, you probably didn’t call him babes first. why? because you said it to layla. you stopped by jake’s place before the both of you went to your parent’s place. since you haven’t seen layla in a while, she instantly captured your attention (like she so rightfully deserves).
“babes, i missed you!” you say as you smile while petting her and seeing her tail wag in happiness. jake looks at the sight of the two loves of his life and can’t stop the way his heart flutters a little. he doesn’t want to ruin the moment but he wants your attention so he ends up sort of sitting on the ground next to layla and peeks up at you with wide eyes and a smile.
“babes?” he asked. you end up also sitting on the floor, layla settling onto your lap,
“it means love in [insert your language].” he frowns,
“you said you love layla before saying you love me?”
“who says i love you?” he gets kind of pouty because he knows that you love but he wants to hear it. some time passes and when you’re at your parent’s house, you’re talking to them and you tell them in [insert your language],
“i love jake.” he hears the word and his name in the same sentence. so he takes a chance and using the same sentence you said but with your name he says,
“i love ___.”
˚₊·˚ ❆˚· park sunghoon ˚₊·˚ ❆˚··
it probably slipped out in a moment of panic while the two of you were ice skating. sometimes you slipped into [insert your language] due to a surge of various emotions, sometimes anger, fear, or frustration. sunghoon had asked if you wanted to go on a date to the new rink that just opened and you said yes because ice skating with hoon, how could you miss the opportunity ?? he was holding your hand and skating to your pace trying to teach you how to ice skate. but somewhere down the line, he ended up letting go without you realizing it (like when you ride a bike and the person behind you holding the bike lets go !!) so you turn around, eyes wide at the distance between you and sunghoon and you’re like,
“YAH, BABES YOU SAID YOU WOULDN’T LET GO,” and all of a sudden you lose your balance. thankfully, sunghoon being the great skater that he is manages to get to you and holds so you so that you don’t fall. you’re clutching onto his jacket, trying to catch your breath, “i hate you,” you mutter. he smiles as he moves your hair to get out of your face,
“yeah, keep telling yourself that. wait? what does babes mean?” he asks.
“it means love in [insert your language].” suddenly, ice king composure melts. heart going a hundred miles a minute. mind is all like wait what? he accidentally loses his footing and balance, falling while taking you down with him but you’re fine since you landed on top of him.
“are you ok, babes?” he asks to at least try and keep some cool because even though you’re in an ice skating rink, it suddenly feels as if things just got a hundred degrees hotter.
˚₊·˚❂˚· kim sunoo ˚₊·˚❂˚·
he had been interested in learning about your language and culture, mostly for the food… but a+ for effort, right? he would often ask you, “what does this mean?” “what does that mean?” that kind of stuff, since he was genuinely curious. he picked up a few words here and there, occasionally using a word that he knew in a sentence while talking to you. your family asked you to bring him over for a family gathering / party situation sometimes it felt like they liked him more than you. you were sitting down with a plate of food,
“babes, can you hand me a napkin?” suddenly, your and sunoo’s ears are filled with the sounds of “OOO” and your family begins teasing you. to yourself, you’re just like, did i really just call sunoo… but when you look at sunoo his smile is the widest it’s ever been
“you called me love, matji, matji?” (matji meaning like “right” in korean, idk it just felt right to spell that out here ok anyways)
“how did… how did you know?” and he does that thing where he kind of giggles,
“you just confirmed it!”
˚₊·˚✧˚· yang jungwon ˚₊·˚✧˚·
one night jungwon was dropping you off to the front of your doorstep to make sure you got home safe and sound. you were trying to be cute and said,
“saramhae” (saram means person in korean, but what you really meant to say was, “saranghae” which means i love you in korean). jungwon then does that thing where he smirks at you, tilting his head slightly, and he says,
“nado saramhae, babes.” (so like “i love you too, [love in insert your language]” but it’s saramhae because that’s what you said at first) but then,
“babes?” you ask. he plays it off by saying,
“i’m the leader, i need to learn how to communicate in different languages for engenes.” but really it’s just secret language learner pt. 2 exposed.
˚₊·˚⍢˚· nishimura riki / ni-ki ˚₊·˚⍢˚·
ni-ki’s head was on your lap, eyes closed since he was taking a nap and decided your lap was the best thing to claim as his pillow. you needed to get up so to wake him, you poked his cheeks,
“ni-ki,” you said. nothing.
“riki-ah?” this time as more of a question while lightly patting his hair. also nothing.
“babes, if you don’t wake up i’m gonna shove you off my lap.” suddenly, his eyes open and he looks up at you which causes you to jump back in your seat slightly.
“bae-ehbs?” he asks, trying to sound out the word.
“uh huh.”
“wait doesn’t that mean, love?”
“no… it means pabo,” you reply playfully. (pabo meaning like dum dum / stupid in korean, but it’s not meant to sound offensive here !!)
“no it means ‘love’ jay hyung told me about that word when i started dating you.”
“well, if you knew then why’d you ask?”
“wait, so it actually does mean love?”
“you just said jay told you!”
“yeah but i didn’t believe him.” at the confirmation of the word’s true meaning, he feels happy and kind of giddy at the new name he’s earned for himself from you. like heeseung, he’d use it to get something that he wants from you but instead of aegyo it’s more like teasing.

Hi!!! May I get a HP, Star Wars, Voltron, and Disney matchup?
𝗕𝗔𝗦𝗜𝗖𝗦 + 𝗔𝗣𝗣𝗘𝗔𝗥𝗔𝗡𝗖𝗘
19, Libra, Neutral Good, enneagram is 4w5, muggleborn Ravenclaw (with Gryffindor tendencies), and my patronus spirit is Hummingbird. Biromantic Pansexual Genderfluid woman using pronouns of She/Her or He/Him. Cherubic-like face, with short height (5'1") plus sized Southeast Asian woman with Spanish descent that has chic messy/wavy brunette medium hair that reaches to my shoulder, oriental skin, slightly upturned eyes, small lashes, chocolate brown irises, cute flat nose, heart shaped face, full cheeks, cupid's bow lips, a small beauty mark on the forehead, and naturally straight teeth with tiny gap in front (just imagine that it's a mixture of Marinette from 𝗠𝗶𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘂𝗹𝗼𝘂𝘀 𝗟𝗮𝗱𝘆𝗯𝘂𝗴, Musa from 𝗪𝗶𝗻𝘅 𝗖𝗹𝘂𝗯, and Alexandra Trese from 𝗧𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗲---cause' my friend told me that I kinda look like them). My sense of fashion is in between emo and boyish plus korean glam, I sometimes let my hair down or styled like Lara Croft reboot.
𝗣𝗘𝗥𝗦𝗢𝗡𝗔𝗟𝗜𝗧𝗬
Distant, quiet, and timid at first making people thought I'm a demure, modest, and self-effacing that looks "immaculate" or "one of a kind" (due to my protective mom, a reason why I've never been in a relationship) but the truth is, dunno how to initiate a conversation, but a total opposite if I open up---friendly, ambivert, witty, laughing loudly on a daily basis---like my happiness is too shallow, super talkative, eats a lot (yeah I can finish a huge slice of cake or a meal in one sitting), awkward, daydreamer (I got embarrassed from knocking at the door even I'm inside the classroom 😂), EXTREMELY CLUMSY (mostly gets bruises from hitting, bumping my head somewhere, walking into something on my way, and being careless to my belongings), secretly likes affection, easily overwhelmed, prone to melt over wholesomeness, flusters on compliments, lightly blushes on cheesy banters, eager to share what I know (especially about Catholic Church---my past teacher joked that I'll become a saint because of it 🤣), oftenly speaks full of sarcasm with a lowkey crackhead energy citing meme references, and talented girl who can be your no.1 supporter and unashamed to be true to myself but can be awkward to strangers. In terms of leadership, I only educate and guide than being a prefect (I might take the role seriously), will lift my group when there's lacking/incompleteness. About doing projects in school, I become too extra and prepared for efforts, but I'll forget the process in the end.
The extent, I'm expressive, warm-hearted, willig to help, kind, intelligent, supportive, nice, creative, enthusiastic, laid-back, determined, tough, competitive, and feisty outside, but a real softie that can be childish and dramatic that cries so easily (but will enlightened real quick by smallest things that makes me smile) filled with doubts, frustrations, and insecurities with fear of failure that pushes off the limits to to please everyone because they might get dissappointed from expectations---I simply can't stop proving myself too much because I'm a survivor of bullying. But I still managed to be stronger than ever after I stumbled, even it's a slow burn process. I can be blunt, intimidating, harsh, and a douchebag if I receive ends or I got interrupted while doing something. Immature, headstrong, perfectionist, demanding, hesitant, jumpy, forgetful, overthinker, quick-tempered, sensitive, and anxious (no joke, my nervousness makes me think worse scenario will arrive). Though can be procrastinator and arrogant, I raised as a religious 𝖺𝗇𝖽 diplomatic youth, willing to fight what I believe (including my dreams and what's important to me) and what is right. In addition, I have a habit of staying up late and doing sign of the cross to ease nervousness.
Rowdy and feeling-brokenhearted and bitter friend in the group who fangirl a lot, swears like sailor, will call out on people that we loathe, will make fun of your stupidity (in a good way) before helping, and bring gossips, but a hopeless romantic and cheeky (makes banter with sarcasms or pick up lines as an endearment, but gets annoyed if I received sappy or offensive one), Still generous and concerned person in a subtle and different way.

My hobbies are singing, drawing, roleplaying, listening to music, chatting/browsing on social media, conceptualizing, writing, and reading some stuffs. I'll include making corniest jokes/puns, sleeping, and dancing when nobody's around or walking like a model if I feel so bold (even I'm terrible at both xD). I also used to learn Italian language a bit.
𝗟𝗜𝗞𝗘𝗦
Loves kittens, milk tea, singing at the karaoke, cartoons, iced coffee, memes, cute things, watching YouTube videos (mostly pageants, ASMR, edit audios, and mukbangs), also enjoys playing games on my sister's PSP. Sucker for arts, choir, poetry, night sky, makeup, fun/deep/dumb conversations, Christianity, documentaries (about saints, real crime stories, and inspirational people), reading interesting stuffs, talking about social issues, and creative writing, chilling both indoors and outdoors. Beside that, my music taste are like late 90s-2000s songs (mostly rock, pop, and country) sometimes Catholic songs, kpop and ppop, chocoholic, and a sweetooth as well.
𝗗𝗜𝗦𝗟𝗜𝗞𝗘𝗦
Things that I hate are stereotyping, HUGE creepy crawlies (spiders, toads, snakes, and cockroaches), firecracker sounds, thunder and lightning, being left out, loneliness, heart break, blackout, and judgemental people. If I found out that someone hates or backstabbing or being rude to me, I won't hesitate to throw offensive criticisms, leaving them with a "I don't give a f" attitude. One random fact about me is, I 𝗐𝗂𝗅𝗅 vent out EVERYTHING I despise in my entire existence---from bad soap operas to toxicity, worse scenarios in real life, and how terrible is my love life from unrequited feelings that I got, because it's a big deal for me, and I consider forcing me to do what I'm not into and manipulating me as my major pet peeves.
𝗧𝗥𝗜𝗚𝗚𝗘𝗥𝗦
In terms of triggers...I only have two which are ta𝖨king about divorce/annullment/separation because I came from a generational broken family (it sucks that some people I knew assumed that the reason why I'm overly unaware that someone is interested in me in secret, is I have "high standards" looking for a partner, but the truth is I'm strict and I have a personal preferences...I know my worth and I don't want settle for less!) and religion/beliefs discrimination, cause' there are reasonings that doesn't makes sense because some, sounds too hypocritical, like as if you're a morally good person.
𝗥𝗢𝗠𝗔𝗡𝗖𝗘 + 𝗟𝗢𝗩𝗘 𝗟𝗔𝗡𝗚𝗨𝗔𝗚𝗘𝗦
My love languages are quality time and gift giving, but I actually swoon over physical touch (especially cuddles and cute kisses) and words of affirmation when it comes to having a partner, though I get attracted so easily, matured but can be a goofy person who's nice, friendly, kind-hearted, loving, faithful, and excels in academics is my cup of tea. Whenever I have a real life crush (which is rare), I act the same but deep inside, my heart is about to explode and will eventually share to my trustful friends how I highly admire that person, however if they spilled the beans out, I'll obviously deny it and will cry if they like someone else, it will take some time for me to move on, now I don't care for them anymore.
Best Friends to Lovers is my ideal trope because I find it very cute since you already knew each other before dating (which happened to my 2nd cousin, she married her best friend!)---perfect balance for romance, laughters, comfort, and tears when it comes to sharing your vibes, being there through thick and thin, safe with embraces, and helping each other to grow.
𝗧𝗥𝗜𝗩𝗜𝗔𝗦
My best assets are smile, eyes, personality, singing voice, artistic skills, writings, intelligence, oratorical skills and I have potential in hosting...so I can consider myself as a singer, artist, orator, speaker, and a top student who's a former active campus ministry member with three roles (choir leader, psalm singer, and reader).
May sounds different but I'm passionate for helping people through my talents and sharing my story to inspire everyone. I may look selfish, but I have a different way on how I show that I actually care also I have a biased sentimental value
Currently a college freshman, learning how to cook. I have so many interests, to the point I don't know what I'm into because of my dreams to become a popular Filipino YouTuber, a novelist, and being part of a successful chorale competing internationally...I also consider joining pageants at school too once the pandemic ends, but maybe.
HP: Remus!
- Remus is also quiet and a bit reserved when he's not in a familiar situation, so your own first impression on him would be a good one, as you'd seem similar to his own personality. He's sweet and is able to start up a conversation if he notices the other person is having a hard time doing so, so hopefully he'd be able to bring out your more extroverted and friendly self after a while so he can be around the more open you. He wouldn't mind you being a bit awkward-he's very much the same way-honestly, the comradery that would come from that would be more positive than anything else. He loves sharing knowledge and learning about new things, so your eagerness to talk about what you know would work really well also! He does a lot better when he knows someone has his back too, so your extra supportive nature would endear him to you as well.
SW: Han!
- Your nicer and more helpful personality would balance out Han's more standoffish vibes when first meeting. You might get on his nerves a bit first, but you'd quickly grown on him and, in turn, make him a bit of a better person. Your ability to be blunt and a bit harsh would serve you well if you ever needed to stand your ground on an issue that two of you have, as he can be quite stubborn.
VLD: Lance!
- Lance can be a bit immature from time to time as well, especially when it comes to trying to be funny or cheering up those around him-he's also headstrong and typically firm in what he wants to do, so your own determined personality would attract him to you a lot as well. He often puts off things he needs to do if they make him anxious too, but if you both recognize that you share that problem, helping each other might be a good solution!
Disney: Flynn!
- Flynn is quite a sarcastic and teasing person, so your own humor would match well with his. He's also quite a hopeless romantic as well, even though he's certainly not one to admit that right off the bat. He enjoys singing, and as he gets closer to someone he feels more comfortable doing so in front of them, so a partner he's been with for a long time would get to see him be more and more open with it. That also applies to activities like dancing.

(General Comments)
“Amara is a highly creative storyteller with intricate characters and symbolic cinematography. Her witty and very relatable dialouge in her scripts makes it feel real. Despite that, she is quiet, asocial, and hates working with people. Her concentrating in filming and writing is a weakness, if she doesn’t tell those her ideas. As I know it will be better than everyone else’s. What I have seen in the classroom, she is empathetic and emotional, which is one of her best traits. If she learns how to trust others with those exact qualities; where she can comfortably open up and reveal her plans, she can win awards with her future work.” - Prof. Robert Boss

My Character Arc (insert dramatic anime music)
I’d mention that I have a strong attachment to my family, especially my extended family (its true). It started when I became closed off and prone to crying, scholar and the 10 will become increasingly concerned, but Ellie was the first to find out. Scholar know that I never reveal too much about myself, but I know too much of others (like Neha’s status). When I finally open up that a close relative of mine passed away, the 10 finally saw how I actually feel for once. My emotions cannot be handled in a healthy way, so I just lash out. Eventually getting in a fight with Karolina. She said that seeing me geniunely angry was one of the scariest things she had ever seen. Scholar will soon confront me, and I’d let it out. On how I can’t go back home to hug my family and properly mourn. The 10 help set up with a virtual funeral, so I can still be there. My arc being resolved. Learning to open up about my issues and saying my actual opinions.
----------
My relationships with the Main 10/Other things
Besties!!!: Tyler, Ellie, Tegan (TENT BITCH)
Besties, but won’t say anything about it to Karolina until later: Neha
Close; Karolina, Raquel
Good terms: Alistair, Claire, Axel (mixed)
Its confusing, but we like each other: Tadashi
-----
Notes from relationships
Tegan and I play Smash Bros a lot to settle our arguements (i main byleth and roy)
Tyler, Ellie, and I dramatically act out my stories
Neha and Karol often invite me to go shopping with them
Karol actually tolerates and likes me, because of my relationship with Neha
Axel doesn’t like it when I criticise his new music, but he takes it as constructive
Raquel and Alistair watches sports anime with me (both get hyped while watching Haikyuu)
Claire gives me some plants she grew so I can send it to my mom as a gift
Tadashi and I have a brother and sister relationship (but he attacks me for not wearing my uniform at all)
----
Uniform (but I actually despise uniforms)
I wear black boyfriend jeans, with an oversized college sweatshirt with the school’s emblem over the collared shirt. Wears white high top converse with shin high wool socks. Sometimes I would wear the skirt with black thigh highs, but its very uncommon. (in my first year, Tadashi and I had a fight about it. It’s where I first called him Nakahoe)
----
Yeah, I'm rich as fu-
My family would own a software engineering company. Both parents would promote my creativity. I was born in America, but parents from the Philippines.
----
Favourite/Least Favourite things
Likes: TV shows, movies, writing, family
Dislikes: Entitled people, hierarchies, science class
----------
Would Scholar like me as a friend or love interest?????
They would like me because I often make jokes that fits any kind of scenario (I actually do that). I would often rant about my stories, so they might find me endearing or cute because I love my characters from it. I’m also emotionally intelligent, so I often comfort Scholar, and know how they feel (I’d do that for my friends).
Why they would not like me, is because I never reveal anything personal. Compared to the others, who casually mention it sometimes (ie: Tadashi saying he is part of the Nakano family). I wouldn’t say about how I’m actually feeling or issues, but after my arc; I’d slowly open up.

“You’re Not Just a Kid” by Marvin R. Ramiro
“Kid, you’re not just a kid.” That’s what I always hear in gossip. Rumors seems to have no right to socialize and adapt, Adapt to the elderly that we often get along.
Did you know that the youth is the hope of our nation? Nation where we became aware of the truth. Nation where many people go blind, Blind and incapable of expressing their attitude.
Speak up. Stand up. Prove to everyone that you have the care. Prove to everyone that you have the advantage, Prove to everyone that you are not just a kid.
Now that you are speaking, Now that you are standing. Let me tell you and remember this thing, “Kid, you’re not just a kid.”

“The Moments in Sand-sinukob” by Marvin R. Ramiro
This is just a simple picture with the deepest meaning. Well, this picture was mean a lot to me. Like, every time I saw this place personally, I always remember the moments and memories when I was a kid. This place thought me to cry. This place thought me to laugh. This place thought me to learn. This place thought me to be friendly. And, this place thought me to be a good person/individual.

“My Unforgettable Random Photo” by Marvin R. Ramiro
This photo has took on November 06, 2018, the most memorable yet precious day of my life. I still remember that, before this photo was took, there’s a lot of epic scenarios of what me and my friends did. This is the day where I started to host, my first ever hosting in our school called “G. at Bb. Kalikasan 2018″. Since it was our last year in Junior High School and I thought it was also our last year to celebrate my special day/year, I take that opportunity to invite my friends for my “epic” birthday party. Why it was epic? I already told my parents that I won’t invite anyone and I confronted my friends first that I won’t invite them because there’s no food to eat and all. And they’ve said that was fine. So, I think very well if how can I join them without my parents permission. I told them that if they bought me a cake, they all have the choice to come in our crib. But there’s a “scripted” surprise to believe. And when they started to came, my parents were shocked because there’s a lot of students (friends of mine) outside in our house and no foods to eat.
Every time I remember this photo, it always gives me happiness and more scenarios in my mind.

“How Cyrelle Adjusts to Her Parents Despite of Disallowing Her at any Point” by Marvin R. Ramiro
There’s a usual girl who’s pretty yet friendly but she’d never allowing her parents to go outside except when she’s going to school or with her family. Her name is Cyrelle Kristel M. Gabriel, a 17 year-old girl that’s the only thing to do is to make herself happy and to do something that she wanted to do. But because of her parents, she has doubted to limit her movements when it comes to life because she knows that it won’t make it happened. I’ve asked a bunch of questions to her about these things and she answered truthfully but limited. “Is there any time that you’ve got jealous because of that?” “Yes, as always.” “What do you think are the hindrances why they can’t allowed you to go with your friends?” “I guess that’s because most of my friends are boys, I think that[‘]s the main reason why they can't allow me to go with them and [since] most of my friends are boys [,] they always say that people might make an issues or think malicious things when they saw me hanging out with them and I know that they just care about what other people can say with them.” “What do you feel right now (because you have missed a lot of memories with them since it’s pandemic)?” “Of course I feel sad because I want to make a lot of memories with them. Especially right now in time of this  pandemic I realized that I don't have a lot of bondings with them.” “What have you learned after all of these?” “I’ve learned that their actions in the past is for my own good because they just want me to be safe and do their responsibilities as parents. They just think about my security and what people would think of me and I know that they want me to be better and don’t take advantage from anyone.” After all these things, she is ready and willing to learn about life. She is ready to conquer all the struggles that given by God and she will always be grateful by that. She believes that’s all for her goodness and for her security. She will never get mad to her parents but she’s always grateful for that.

“The Author of His Own Life: Stumble” by Marvin R. Ramiro
One of the hardest thing when you are studying is that stumbling your emotions. let me show you my entire Junior High School life and  how did I overcome my depression despite of bad things that I encountered. I remember when I was in Junior High School, it was grade 8 to be exact when I met my friends that I treated as my family. We’re happy, good, and all that I’d never realized that there’s a chance to break when we excel on a higher grade. After the school year was still great but there’s a fight between me and my friends. Well, I won’t deny that year was my most toxic self of mine. There’s a time that one of my friend was get mad at me in no reason and she try to convinced anyone to make me feel bad. They were mad at me and they didn’t pay attention to me and feel not belong. I’ve realized that I have to go, that I have to distanced myself. That time, I was feel depressed, anxious and all deep thoughts. I cried a lot that no one can notice -- I feel down. I’d prayed to God that what should I do? I felt down and I can’t do whatever I wanted to do. And I felt that God hugged me so tight and told me, “Son, you can do it. Don’t be afraid to stumble and get some wounds on your knees. I am here to guide you.” One of my realizations in life that God will always there for you no matter what happen. Even we forget to talk with him, He”s still willing to hear all of your rants about in life and reminds you how worth it you are.

“A Journey of a Simple Kid” by Marvin R. Ramiro
Being a student is one of the most difficult but most memorable thing in our entire life. Let me tell you my journey as a student. I remember when I was in kindergarten, since it was the first stage of education, I don't want to be left behind by my mother or our assistant every time I am taken to school. The school is just a short distance from our home but I don’t want to be left behind and if that happens, I will cry out loud like a tiger. Until the end of the whole year nothing seemed to have changed. When I came to elementary school, that’s where I started socializing and talking. Like ordinary children I also tried to play and make friends but I felt like an apprehension. It's like it's not me. I find myself more quiet on one side --- studying hard. When I got to high school it was as if the wind had changed. I thought more of I need to socialize with others and make friends. I got to the point where I seemed to be anxious for a friend’s presence. To the point that I always want to talk to and when they’re gone I feel very sad. That was the cycle of my entire Junior High. And when I’m in Senior High School, I’ve realized so many things that it’s fine to be alone sometimes, and it’s better if I’m not that type of person. Always the best will last. The important thing is that you are always willing to learn and not afraid to stumble and get wounds. After all these thing, you’re still free to run fast and good.

#junkterrorbill
TW: politics, police brutality
I have been absent from this website for a very long time, and a lot of devastation has happened since then. I hope everyone is doing well, and I hope all of your families are safe. As much as I’d like to be concerned about Covid, the events unfolding in my country prevent me from doing so.
I’m a Filipino, born and raised in the Philippines. I lived in the countryside before moving to Manila for college and eventually law school. I’m on my last year as a law student, hence my absence. I’m taking the bar examination next year (supposedly this year, but due to Covid, the Supreme Court moved the exam date to next year.)
I’d like to say I’m passionate about my (future) profession. Learning the law has been nothing but enlightening to me in many ways. But things right now are making me question why we’re learning the law, when the people expected to uphold it are the same ones breaking, insulting, and abusing it.
If you don’t already know, the Philippine Congress has passed the Anti-Terrorism Bill—a bill that will supposedly crack down on the (almost non-existent) terrorist problem in my country. The President certified this bill as urgent, and now it only needs his signature before passing into law.
The law gives this “Anti Terrorism Council”, headed by our President and some of his closest cabinet officials, the authority to determine who is a “terrorist.” If you are suspected of being a “terrorist”, you can be arrested anywhere without a warrant, and then jailed for 2 weeks or more, without being allowed to contact anyone since the police confiscate your phones immediately upon arrest. Under our law, the police can only detain you for 3 days, after which they have to bring you to a judge. If you’re detained for longer than that, they have to pay you 500,000 pesos (or around $10,000) per day you’re illegally detained. Under the Anti Terrorism Bill, you can be detained for as long as the police want, without the police having to pay you damages if you’re detained longer than what’s legal.
Under the law, a “terrorist” has a vague meaning: you’re a member of a non-government organization (women’s groups, organizations lead by indigenous people, etc.) that’s known for voicing out your opinions against government policies, or even if you’re just a regular person who has said anything that the government feels will “destabilize” them. They can tag you as a terrorist, tap into your phones and computers, track you down, and throw you into jail.  Worst case scenario, they can shoot you on the spot in the name of “self defense.” For regular people (who aren’t public officers), that’s 12 years to life imprisonment). All that, legal, under this law.
The senators who are “defending” this law, are telling us that we just have to trust the law enforcement authorities.
But the thing is, we don’t trust our police. At all.
The Duterte administration has been notorious for red tagging. The police have been accusing innocent people of being drug pushers, and without the benefit of a court trial, shooting them dead, like wild animals, under the name of this administration. Thousands have been killed in Duterte’s infamous “war on drugs” if you’ve heard it. An author from the New York Times wrote a Pulitzer Prize-winning article back in 2016 about the “collateral damage” of our country’s inhumane drug policy. Most of the victims of police brutality are people from the slums, members of the urban poor, who are barely even being paid minimum wage. Because they’re defenseless, they’re the easy and the usual targets of both this administration, and the people who support it. The worst part is, there are people out there actually happy that thousands have been killed. To them, our country feels “safer.” (All thanks mainly to our President’s propaganda).
Just recently, a few police officers killed a retired war veteran, Winston Ragos, who they claimed was violating quarantine protocols (”violation of quarantine protocols” is their trendy new reason to justify arresting and abusing people). The killed him and claimed they did it out of self defense, even though it was five armed men against one. More importantly, Winston Ragos was mentally ill. He developed PTSD when he served the army.
We’ve started protesting against this bill both online and physically. This morning, police raided one of our universities (University of the Philippines-Cebu) and arrested students who were peacefully protesting. Police said they were violating quarantine protocols, but couldn’t really explain what part of our COVID law they violated. What the President’s “troll army” has been trying to circulate is that these student protesters are members of the New Philippine Army, a group of communist insurgents which the government has, since the beginning of time, been using as a reason to justify military presence and abuse. They used the imaginary threat of communist insurgency as a reason to declare martial law back in 1972, and they’re using it again to abuse their power and abuse the people.
I’d like to add that the Philippine National Police are notorious for planting evidence. But a lot of these cases are not being reported. Based on 800+ reports submitted to the UN High Commission On Human Rights, they found that policemen had been planting the same guns in different crime scenes back when they were still implementing the “war on drugs.” But because police officers are almost immune in my country (except perhaps one or two who are sacrificed to save the agency’s face), no one (at least, not in the government) said a thing about it. The rumor back then was that the police were given a quota of kills and get bonuses if they meet the quota. Animalistic. I know some high ranking officials from the national police and from the army who’ve resigned because they did not like the violent way Duterte is leading his men.
I’m scared. We’re all scared. There is virtually no one in this government we can trust. Not in the Duterte or his cabinet, in Congress, or even in our Supreme Court (a handful of the new justices were appointed by this President). In the government, the voices of the opposition are few and far in between, drowned by the majority who are allies of the President. In the past few years, the government has made a spectacle of silencing and humiliating those who speak out about his human rights abuses.
We’ve reached the point where people actually celebrate when others are killed, humiliated, or when they voice out against injustice. They rejoiced when the government forced one of our biggest TV companies to shut down, putting thousands of people out of work at a time they need to be working and earning money. They bullied and made fun of the actors who spoke out against the shutdown. Reason for the shutdown? Simply because the TV company refused to air Duterte’s campaign ad, and chose instead to air the anti-Duterte campaign ad of an opposition senator which exposed Duterte’s misogny (he always makes rape jokes and even admitted to the media that he molested his helper when he was young) and violent tendencies. Now, they’re rejoicing at the sight of student protestors getting arrested, protesters who are disappearing without a trace.
I’m sorry this has gotten long and complicated. So many things have happened and I can’t put them all into words, let alone in one post. And I haven’t even started talking about the fuckery that is this country’s response to the pandemic. And the even bigger fuckery that is our justice system. Philippine politics has always been dirty, but at these times, they’re at its dirtiest. They’re blatantly bending our laws to serve their own personal interests.
For the longest time, I’ve always believed in humanity. I always tried to see the good in people, no matter how naive it sounds. But this administration, this President, has brought out the ugliest, darkest sides of humanity – and people continue to defend and glorify him.
I hope everyone is doing well and staying safe from the virus. We’re doing the best we can to defend our rights and to save our country. Please have my country in your thoughts.

Why did you decide to write for Tumblr? uhm, back in 2017, i was searching for some website where i could publish my works. ive always been a tumblr-girl since i am that wanna-be-aesthetic kinda person :D then i had found that i could write and publish on tumblr so yeah that’s pretty much why i am on this app rn
What inspires you to write?  ooh, music has been a great help for sure!! whenever i don’t feel like writing something, i always listen to music and the idea would flow like a river. classic poems helps, too. :)
What genres/AUs do you enjoy writing the most?  supernatural!au’s, fantasy!au, medieval!au. i feel like it’s easier to write something out of pure fantasy. i have a hard time writing modern!au’s since i lack the humor and the knowledge for modern slangs.
What do you hope your readers take away from your work?  ooh, i always always always am careful with the way that i craft all my works. i try to feel what my characters feel to give them a certain validation. i put my shoes on the scenarios i have in mind even though i haven’t yet experienced everything ive written. and i do love writing strong female characters, whether it’s oc’s or female readers. that’s my main priority whenever i write. and i want them to know that girls could do just as much everything boys could. women are powerful.
What do you do when you hit a rough spot creatively?  i read a lot to get back on my foot. i also try to re-read my past works so i’d be inspired to better my writing on my current draft.
What is your favorite work and why? Your most successful?  my favorite work is the one i’m still writing rn, which is entitled 505. it’s a hendery fic in which he is a bandit and the female reader is a sacristan. it’s my fave since i relate myself so much to the female reader. :) my most successful one is the childhood best friends!au taeyong x female reader. it’s about to reach 600+ notes i guess? and im so grateful of all the feedbacks i got from it.
Who is your favorite person to write about?  it’s jaehyun and hendery :)
Do you think there’s a difference between writing fanfiction vs. completely original prose?  character wise, perhaps. since you already have a face value in fanfiction, but in an original prose, you would have to craft everything from 0.
What do you think makes a good story?  a good story is something that doesn’t romanticize the bad things going on in the world. a good story is something that is emphatic to the hardships of others. a good story is something that gives comfort to those who are in the dark. a good story is something that boosts the hearts of the readers and makes them feel things!!
What is your writing process like?  first, i think of a plot! (this happens oftentimes when im washing the dishes) when i have the plot, i think of the ending. when i have the ending, it’s time for me to device a fitting title. and the plot would develop from then on.
Would you ever repurpose a fic into a completely original story?  i don’t think so… this is scary. since some people think of fanfics as delusional works from delusional authors. it’s kinda sad.
What tropes do you love, and what tropes can’t you stand?  i love love love enemies-to-lovers trope!! one that i couldn’t stand and do my best to not read is probably… hmm… no, i love all tropes!! i just love e-t-l most!
How much would you say audience feedback/engagement means to you?  it means a ton. since it could really boosts me up. heavy sigh. it’s the best thing when you write something— the feedbacks. even though it’s a simple reblog with the ‘#ATKSHSKSHSKAHAKSGAHGEGSJA’ or ‘#myfave’. i would smile like an idiot whenever i read it.
Dream job (whether you have a job or not)? i want to be a successful writer someday!
If you could have one superpower, what would you choose? teleportation!!
If you could visit a historical era, which would you choose?  ancient greek + victorian era
If you could restart your life, knowing what you do now, would you?  yes!! im so hell deep in indecision right now so i want to restart to make everything right
Would you rather fight 100 chicken-sized horses or one horse-sized chicken?  100 chicken-sized horses!!
If you were a trope in a teen high school movie, what would you have been?  enemies-to-lovers trope agsksj LOL
Do you believe in aliens/supernatural creatures?  YES!!! perhaps they are lurking somewhere here on earth and we don’t know it yet ;)
Fun fact about yourself that not everyone would know?  oh… i don’t really know what to write. i don’t give much attention to my personal details agsksj
Do you think fanfic writers get unfairly judged?  yes!! ugh, there’s this recent issue wherein stan twt called fanfic writers as freaks. and it broke my heart. i mean, most fanfic writers get inspirations from their idols and that shouldn’t be a bad thing. we aren’t delusionals as one might think. we are simply doing our craft.
Do you think art can be a medium for change?  yes!! our country’s hero ‘jose rizal’ had somehow stirred the nationality of the people back in the old days because of his writings. i do believe that art changes things!! it has the ability to pierce the heart of the people.
Do you ever feel there are times when you’re writing for others, rather than yourself?  yes. i feel this whenever im writing smut. i mean, let’s be real, your works would do better once you’ve included some steamy smut scenes in it. when i was writing my first fanfic after three years, i didn’t think that i’d ever include smut. but the fear of not getting feedbacks crept up in me, so i forced myself to write some sexy scenes. i know that’s like… weird. but i’m trying not to dwell on feedbacks any longer. and i also have decided not to write explicit smut anymore. honestly, i feel better now that i don’t force myself to do something that i think would please others rather than me.
Do you ever feel like people have misunderstood you or your writing at times?  uhm, as far as i can remember, nope— still hasn’t felt that way. :)
Do your offline friends/loved ones know you write for Tumblr?  yes!! my best friends irl knows about it. my sister knows. my parents are also aware of my passion in writing, and they do know that i write. but where and what, that remains obscured from them :D
What is one thing you wish you could tell your followers?  that it’s okay to be vulnerable. it’s okay to make mistakes. it’s okay to fail sometimes. it’s okay to feel things. because like a good book, there is always a character development and you have the pen to write your own version of happy endings.
Do you have any advice for aspiring writers who might be too scared to put themselves out there?  i’ve been there: the scared and conscious part. but one thing i would say is, you have to dare yourself!! you won’t know how your writing would have impacted so many lives and touch the hearts of people if you won’t grab your pen or your gadget and start your draft.
Are there any times when you regret joining Tumblr?  nope, there aren’t. the community has been lovely to me ever since i started writing. :,)
Do you have any mutuals who have been particularly formative/supportive in your Tumblr journey? yes!! oh my god. i’d like to take this opportunity to thank my mutuals who’s done me nothing but kindness— @legendnct (hannah), whoo!! you know how much i love you, right? thank you for always being there to listen to me. :) @cloudysuh des, since day one you’ve supported me. i couldn’t ask for more. thank you for the never-ending praises, keyboard smashes, for the tags, and for always boosting me up. @bohoes georgie, you know i love you. since 2017 you’ve been with me— praising my works and supporting me. thank you. @cherr-e cherry!! thank you!! for teaching me how to better my writing. i hope endless happiness for u and please take care. @writermoon hello my babe!! thank you so much for reading my works with such vivid imaginations. i love you. @jaeyongf amy!! the bestest person :,) thank you for always leaving me feedbacks!! thank you for being kind to me. thank you for always supporting me. i love you guys so much and let’s be mutuals for a long time!!

Have a friends survey, because I’m really missing mine.
-- List 8 Friends of Either Gender --
1. Andrew 2. Jo 3. Aya 4. Gabie 5. Hannah 6. Angela 7. Laurice 8. Aliyah
Questions About These Friends
Does number 4 have a driver’s license? Yeah. I’m pretty sure we were part of the first few people in our high school batch who learned how to drive and get our licenses.
Can number 7 speak another language? Well yeah, she can speak Filipino. Everyone on the list can at least speak Filipino.
Does 2 know your parents well? Not so much. She knows the basic stuff about my parents that I tell everyone, like how my dad works abroad.
Have 3 and 5 been in the same room together? Multiple times, until Aya graduated. All three of us were in the same applicant batch in our org so we spent a loooot of time together.
Does 1 have similar music tastes to you? Broadly, yeah. I know we both like R&B and hip-hop but he’s faaaar more passionate about the genre and he’s a lot better at picking out artists and songs.
Has 6 ever stayed at your house? She’s visited a handful of times, but I prefer going to her house instead. I don’t really have a lot to offer here whereas we never run out of things to do at her place.
When did 3 last text you? If we are talking of strictly texts, November 2018. Aya was never a good replier on text lol. But my last notification of her in general was at 4 AM today, when she sent a meme to our friends’ group chat.
Does 5 have any pets? If so, what do they have? Nope. WELP I don’t know actually. She lives all the way in Bacolod so her home life doesn’t get raised much. I know she loves dogs though.
Does 7 live in the same town/city as you? Nah, she’s a south baby through and through.
Have you ever lent something important to 8? I’ve never even met her yet. We keep planning to especially since she works in Metro Manila now, but our schedules just never work out.
Can number 1 sing well? Yes. He’s done a lot of singing gigs and as far as I know he even put out an EP at one point. He has a sick stage name too.
Does 2 have any siblings? Nah, she’s an only child.
If 4 called you at 2 AM, what would your reaction be? Take it and assume she has trouble falling asleep.
Who is 8′s best friend? I’m not sure; I don’t know her all that well. I would assume it’s someone all the way in Mindanao, since that’s where she grew up and went to school and her whole life is there - she really only moved to Metro Manila for work. That’s why I feel for her sometimes and keep offering to meet up, so she can feel less lonely.
Does 6 have a favourite tv show? If so, what is it? She loooves watching TV series but I never knew what her favorite is. Good question, I’ll have to ask her this soon.
Who out of 5 and 7 knows you the best? I say they both know me on the same level but I think Laurice does slightly more. We’ve had deeper conversations, so it’s a safe guess.
Does 4 have a boyfriend/girlfriend? You are reading her answers right now. ;)
Does 2 have a career/knows what they want to be? Yes, she’s always wanted to be a journalist. She’s entering her senior year now and I’m really proud and super impressed with her for being able to keep up such a demanding, brutal passion; I was burned out from journ by freshman year. She even helps run a fact-checking website now :) It had just been a requirement in her class to come up with a fact-checking website but theirs got SO successful, racked up some awards, and now it’s still going.
Have you ever kissed 1? No. He’s like a brother to me and that just sounds like the weirdest scenario.
Does 3 have or want children? Yes. I know she wanted them when she was with Jo, but I’m not sure if she’s changed her mind lately.
Does 6 have any piercings or tattoos? Yep, on her ears.
Do your parents know 8? No. She’s an internet friend, so I never get to raise it in conversations. And I doubt they’ll be happy if they found out I made a friend on the interwebs anyway.
Which Number...
Have you had romantic feelings for? 4.
Have you told a secret to? 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6,7, 8. I’m pretty open with my secrets, as dumb as that sounds lol
Have you shared a bed with? 2, 3, 4, 6, 7.
Have you watched a movie with? I remember watching The Devil Wears Prada with 2 and 3. I’ve watched several movies with 4.
Have you seen cry? 2, 3, 4, 6.
Have seen you cry? 1, 4, 5. 5 hasn’t seen me cry but she has definitely heard me.
Have cooked you something? 6 and 7 :) They’re also the biggest mom friends on the list, so I’m not surprised.
Have a boyfriend/girlfriend? 1, 4, 6. I’m not sure if 2 and 3 are still together; we never get to update each other anymore. Have met your parents? 2, 3, 7 from a meeting we once held at my house. And 4 and 6, of course - they’re my mom’s favorites.
Have been to the same school/college as you? Everyone except 8.
About Number One What age are they? He turned 22 in June.
Have you met their parents? Never. He can’t give less of a shit about his dad so I don’t care for him, though. I know he’s super protective of his mom.
Have you ever been in a relationship with them? Not at all. He wouldn’t be my type, and like I said he’s a brother to me more than anything else.
Do they like most of your other friends? We mostly have mutual friends, so. I know he likes my best frieinds though - he was even the one who reminded me about putting Angela on my thesis acknowledgments.
How often do you two meet up and/or talk? Back in school we used to see each other around 1-2 days a week. He’s a little busier than I am since he takes side gigs, so he’s not in campus all the time.
When did you last argue? We’ve never fought but the last time I got quite upset with him was last December. We were rushing to get our thesis draft submitted on time and apparently he submitted the file to our professor’s VIBER. He for sure got an earful from me that day.
What is their favourite food? I’m not sure. He does tend to have unpopular food opinions so I wouldn’t be surprised if his favorite is not a common choice.
Where is their favourite place to be? On the basketball court or anywhere with Leigh, I’m guessing.
How many close friends do they have? I know of at least two - JM and Blanch. He is friendly and has an extensive circle though, so I’m sure I’m missing several other close friends of his.
Number Two What colour are their eyes? Dark brown.
Have they known you the longest? Not at all. I’ve only known her for three years.
Where were they born? I’m guessing it would either be Manila or Makati.
Why are they your number 2? She just fell on the second slot. I was trying to randomize my friends’ names and hers just turned out to be the second one I thought of.
Do they like children? I don’t know how she feels about them exactly but one thing I know is that she doesn’t hate kids, and we’ve had numerous conversations on what we’d do in certain scenarios involving kids.
Would they beat you in a race? I think so. But then again I did track at one point, so I’m walking onto that contest already with an advantage.
When did you last spend time alone together? Ugh c’mon man, this question is just sad. Jo had been hanging out at Skywalk less and less ever since most of the people in our friend group graduated last school year, so our last real hangout was probably that time we slept over at Laurice’s in June 2019. We never hung out a lot after that, and of course the lockdown just killed any chances we had of doing so.
Do they have a pet peeve? What is it? She has a lot of pet peeves but I can’t place any of them at the moment.
Number Three What is their hair colour? Black, as do most Filipinos.
What is their job, if they have one? Last I heard she got a gig with a major broadcasting network. I think she’s a segment producer? Segment researcher? Something of the sort.
Do they have their own place? I don’t think so; not just yet.
How many brothers or sisters do they have? I know she has a sister. I’ve forgotten if she has a brother.
Have you ever done something illegal with them? Yes hahaha illegal in university terms, at least. When we had free time and we saw that no one was using one of the classrooms in the college, our friend group snuck inside and played The Devil Wears Prada on the projector. As the only goody-two-shoes in the group I was super uneasy the whole time, but literally no faculty or staff checked in on us for the entire film. That was the moment I knew I was no longer in private school, where everyone watched you like a hawk lol.
How old were you when you met each other? I was 19, she was 21.
Are they more sporty, arty or academic? ARTSY. She’s one of the best artists I’ve ever seen and she can absolutely fucking slay any editorial cartoon.
Have you ever travelled out of country with this person? Nope. I would love to.
Person Four Do they have a favourite musician? St. Vincent’s been her fave for the longest time.
Have you drank alcohol with this person? Many times. When I drink she’s usually around.
Are their parents together? Yes.
What do you enjoy doing with them? EATING OUT!!! I also love going to new places and museum strolling with her, but yeah nothing works for me better than food with my favorite person.
When is their birthday? June 5th.
Do they have long or short hair? Long.
Have you been to a concert with this person? Yes, when we went to (illegally) see Coldplay from the top of a parking lot. Still felt like we were part of the concert grounds though.
If you asked them to describe you, what do you think they would say? Determined, hates to lose, and annoyingly generous.
Person Five Where did you two meet? I met Hannah on our enrollment day for our sophomore year in college. She and Macy had transferred from UPLB to UPD and since Macy and I were already friends from high school, she introduced me to Hannah. Then we became a lot closer when it turned out we were both applying for the same org.
How long ago did they phone you? We both hate phone calls and we’d hate to call/be called.
Do they have a certain sport they play? I don’t think she’s very athletic herself, but she loves watching UAAP games and she has a particular affinity for volleyball.
What about them annoys you sometimes? I never found her annoying. I did notice that her one weakness as a co-worker is her fear of being assertive, putting her foot down, being confident to come up with her own steps on how to come up with steps towards a situation, that kind of stuff. She often wanted someone who she felt like was more knowledgeable to be by her side and make all the decisions. But I did see her bloom a bit after a few months, so I’m proud of the progress.
Are they ruled by their head or their heart? Heart.
Are they male or female? Female.
In what ways are they the opposite of you? She’s religious and she loves to sing and perform.
How many rooms do they have in their house? No clue; I’ve never been to her house. I’ve never even been to her city.
Person Six Can they play an instrument? I think she knows *a bit* of guitar. But she’s not crazy gifted when it comes to musical instruments, I know that much.
Are they close with their mother? VERY. And she has no reason not to be - her mom is the nicest and most compassionate person I’ve ever met. Always treated me like family.
Do you know any of their siblings well? She’s an only child.
How many times have you visited their house? Countless, especially in high school and in our first few years in college.
When did you last go out to eat together? Feb. It was one of the food stalls at The Palace and we needed to eat away all the alcohol lol.
Do they own a bike? I haven’t seen one in her place so I’m assuming no. Her neighborhood is not very bike-friendly to begin with, so it’s understandable.
Do they have a sweet, sour or salty tooth? She has a...green tooth? Hahahaha she likes eating healthily.
What music genre do they listen to most? Pop, pop rock, indie, indie rock.
Person Seven Would you ever consider dating this person? Probably not. She’s SO stable and happy; I’m still working on it. I wouldn’t want to dump my shit on her vibrant and bubbly outlook on life.
Do they prefer cats or dogs? Dog, I think. I don’t know for sure though.
Are they or do they plan to go to college? To study what? Yes, she’s in her senior year now. She’s also taking up journalism – it’s how we met.
If they did something illegal, what would it be? I highly doubt that would ever happen lmao, she’s super nice and such a goody-two-shoes. If she got caught doing something illegal it’s 100% only because she was with someone who did the thing.
Have you ever shared a sundae with this person? Maybe once or twice.
is their hair dyed or natural? It’s all black now, but at one point she dyed it light brown.
Is this person sarcastic? She can be, especially with people she’s close to.
Is this person more likely to party or sit in and read a book? SIT IN AND READ A BOOK. Literally the most accurate option.
Person Eight Have you ever lied to this person? I probably have. We’ve only ever talked on social media, where it’s a lot easier to tell a tiny lie and get away with it.
Do you know where this person was born? Somewhere in Davao I’m assuming.
Do you know their middle name and do they know yours? We know each others’ second names because have them put out on Facebook; but not our middle names.
Do they have any special talents? If she does, I don’t know about them. She’s amazing at writing though.
What is their starsign? Whatever star sign falls on the first half of December.
What is the first thing you notice about this person? Ever since the time she tweeted that she doesn’t like smiling with her teeth, her smile has always been the first thing I’m drawn to.
Have you ever had a big row with this person? Never.
Do you like the same types of movies as this person? Not really. We met because she was friends with my friends who liked the same things she did, but when it comes to us we couldn’t really be any more different.
Random Stuff
Which of these friends would you say you are the closest to? Gabie, of course.
Can you remember all of their birthdays? I’ll give it a shot. June 22, December 31, December 5, June 5, January 16, September 15, May 23...and Aliyah’s is in early December, I’m certain.
Is there anything you regret saying to any of them? I guess only towards Gab, because I’m closest with her and we’ve been through the most together.
Which one of these has been there for you the most? Angela.
Which one have you known the longest and the shortest amount of time? I’ve been aware of Gabie the longest (18 years); been friends with Angela the longest (15 years); and been friends with Andrew the shortest (about a year and a half).
If you needed a laugh, you'd call... I wouldn’t call my friends if I needed help...but if I needed a laugh I’d turn to Anj or Andrew.
If you needed advice, you'd call... Mmm I’d pick among Andrew, Aya, Gabie, Angela, and Laurice.
Which one does your parents like the most? ANGELAAAAAAAA. She’s That friend that I can name-drop when I’m asking for permission to go out, and once my mom hears that she’s going to be with me she usually won’t hesitate to say yes haha.
Is there any of these your parents dislike? They don’t dislike any of them but I have a feeling they’ll disapprove of the fact that I made an online friend in Aliyah, especially my mom.
Do any of them share the same initials? Andrew and Aliyah do.
You can invite one with you for a once in a lifetime trip, which one? Angela.
Something you'd like to say to one of them: I miss you. That applies to everyone.

Christine Mae C. Bagazin
Leaders become great not because of their power but, because of their ability to empower others (John Maxwell). Leaders are the ones who have authority and leads a group of people may it be in a family, a classroom setting, a city or even a nation. They are highly looked up to by the people because of their skills. However, one does not instantly become a good leader. And even sad to say, not all the people who label themselves as leaders, are good ones. However, we must dig deeper in what it means to be a leader and a member for both roles are very vital in every day circumstances. We must thoroughly evaluate different perceptions and narratives about it and there should be a proper assessment of status quo as we came to know and realize what being a leader is really all about.
When we were young, we saw a lot of figures and models that shaped our perceptions of leaders. Usually in cartoons, we identify kings, queens or the monarchy as the authority thus we discern them as leaders or rulers. Characters such as the parents of our favourite prince and princesses like Ariel’s parents or Pocahontas’s parents or Master Shifu in Kung Fu Panda or Li Shang in Mulan are leadership figures in famous cartoon movies. The usual narratives in movies shown for kids display leaders as these people who could command the entire nation to do anything at his/her will or anyone who could have anything that they want. Though this is not exactly the case for all the characters, this has somehow become accustomed. Leaders are shown as these fierce, strong, smart and brave characters and as a young mind watching these films with these types of characters, there is no doubt that we truly admire these personalities even till now when we’ve grown. How these films portray leaders are really vital and important especially to the effect it gives to the mass audience.
Surely in our homes, our parents are considered as the default leaders for they guide us through right and wrong and they are the ones who basically teaches us everything when it comes to basic things and it will be instilled in our mind as we grow older. However, our first take on being leaders would most likely be in school. We get to experience first-hand the ropes of authority and influence. However there is this stigma in school that I am not fond of but it is regularly practiced especially during grade school and high school days. The students who is the smartest are most likely chosen to be the leaders. The reason why this narrative exists is because if you are the smartest of the bunch, you are most likely to properly assess the situation and know what to do hence why they will associate you of being a leader. Especially here in the Philippines, if you are intelligent or when you have high grades and is part of the honor roll, you are put in a higher pedestal than the others. It is because they view intelligence as a high trait and so honor students are highly looked upon in school. However, I have personally experienced and witnessed that this narrative is false because of certain loopholes. Firstly, we must nuance leadership and intelligence. As I have mentioned, since intelligence is put in a high pedestal, most people will think that this is the most vital quality of being a leader. However that is not the case. The most vital quality a leader must have is simply the ability to lead. Qualities like resiliency, integrity, having initiative and more is what sculpts a person to be a great leader. Of course, it is not to say that intelligence does not play a big role in this but that quality could be easily overpowered especially in terms of leadership. To paint a picture, imagine a classroom setting. The group with the top 1 student as a leader is less likely to prosper than a group with a leader that has good leadership skills. The deadlock with this narrative is since because you are smart, you are automatically part of the line of leaders but as we grow older and as we experience different people and leaders alike, we can really say that to become a leader, intelligence is nothing if you don’t know how to properly lead.
I’ve had my fair share of experience with incompetent leaders. One of the most striking experience that I had was in Grade school. We had mandatory scouting and so we had many different activities. Aside from our moderator, we also have classmates who attended special scouting training and are considered ‘leaders’. There was this one activity wherein we were tasked to learn how to knot-tie. The teacher showed us how to do it and we were put into groups so that we could make an output based on the discussion. Since knot-tying was a very complex lesson, each group had about 3-4 leaders to assist in making the output. At that time, I thought the leaders knew how to knot-tie since they basically trained for it and they also claim that they are good at it too. But alas, when we asked for help because we were confused, they started scolding us and telling us that we were not listening properly and that we should find a way to do it. They told us that we should properly make a decent output or else they will be scolded by the moderator. Back then in my 13 year old mind, I was baffled and mad. They have no right to call themselves leaders when they can’t even help us and even scolded us for something that we genuinely don’t know about instead. My perception of leaders shifted because of the leaders that I have encountered when I was in grade six. Even at a young age, it was then that I realized that anyone can become a leader but it takes great skill and hard work to become a great one.
As the years pass by, I had no leadership experience, and I was always just one of the group members. I was satisfied with it, but in Grade 8, I was suddenly chosen to become the science chairman of our class in that grading. Needless to say, I was really a wreck, and I was mostly unsure of the things that Ive done that time, but rest assured that I tried my very best to serve my classmates and my teachers. Surprisingly, people had good remarks about my leadership, and I was even elected as one of the classroom leaders in 9th grade. From then on, I had taken a lot of leadership roles in organizations and in clubs. I improve more as I took on a lot of roles and responsibilities. My experience had taught me a lot of things, and I could really say that I had become a good and decent leader. I had won awards and gotten recognition, but most of all, I had developed a deep love of service. People might think that people serve leaders because they are the ones who are giving commands and are the ones in charge. However, as I have gained experience through my many leadership endeavors, the people do not serve the leader, for it is the leader that serves the people.
Those experiences of mine are only on a small scale perspective. However, if we look at a wider and bigger spectrum, we can say that being a leader of a large group or a nation is one big responsibility. Not only will you handle a lot of people and a lot of burden, you are also under scrutiny and criticism. A great example of this is political leaders. Political figures such as Pres. Duterte, Vice Pres Robredo, Executive Sec. Medialdea and Mayor Labella are few of the many political leaders running the government of the Philippines. Since we are in a democratic country, it is the people that chooses their leaders. Candidates shows us their vision and plans for the future in hopes that we may choose to vote them. Gullible as we are, citizens here only base their votes in the surface level of things and they don’t properly asses candidates and their backgrounds. Traits like social statutes, popularity and looks are scrutinized more by the people rather than their leadership and political backgrounds. The politician who could give more to the people in terms of monetary value is more likely to win than politicans who give less. And because of these factors, there is no clear reassurance that the politicals leaders who won, are competent and good ones. Morever, as constituents, it is our duty to assess, criticize and overlook their actions for us to be aware and it might serve as their checks and balances.
We all have the right to express and most especially, we have the right to yearn for good political leaders that could properly govern the country. That is why it is really important for us to be aware of what is happening. We have the right to criticize our government leaders if it could lead to the betterment of our country. So let us ask ourselves this: are the government leaders we have right now, enough to make our country prosper? Or do they have their own personal intentions that they want to fulfill instead? Needless to say, we can’t directly and really know their true motives if whether they would really want to serve the country or they are only doing it out of their own personal reasons. The only thing we could do is to assess, criticize and be aware of how they handle our country. In order for us to do this, we must know the proper qualities of a good leader and we must not be ignorant of the current events happening in status quo. Whether it be in a healthy political discourse or a messy fight in Twitter, we must involve ourselves in the discussion and be aware of their actions for it would really reflect in our country.
An example scenario is the very news of Bong Revilla running for senator. Even if he was involved in the Pork Barrel issue and he has cases of plunder, he still won the elections. Now a lot of people claims that he is no fit to be a senator but why was he ever even voted in the first place if people deemed him to be too incompetent? It all goes down to the trait of Filipinos not knowing how to properly assess and choose a proper candidate that results to how they still vote for inaduquate leaders despite their past crimes. Right now, Senator Revilla is still severly criticized but at the end of the day, he got the position and he is the one in authority even if a portion of Filipinos aren’t too fond of him. Sadly, that type of situation does not happen to Senator Revilla only but too a lot of politicians. In the present, our government leaders are struggling to cater to the people in this pandemic and their true colors are peeking to the public of their possible hidden agendas. Truly it is in times of calamity and troubles do we really see how a great leader leads his/her people to better circumstances. If constituents don’t see a good future with these leaders, then just like what I realized when I was in 6th grade in my scouting experience, let us all remember that anyone can be leaders but it takes properly honned skills, a passion for service and a dedication to the people  to become a great leader at the very end of the day.

WHAT TO WATCH THIS WEEKEND September 20, 2019  - VILLAINS, BLOODLINE, DOWNTON ABBEY, AD ASTRA, RAMBO: LAST BLOOD
It’s hard to believe that September is almost over, and we’re just sailing through the September festival season with the New York Film Festival starting (for real) next week.  There are three wide releases, but I will only have seen one of them before writing this, so instead, I’ll talk about a couple genre movies opening Friday, both of which played at Lincoln Center’s “Scary Movies XII” last month.
Tumblr media
I remember writing quite extensively about VILLAINS (Alter/Gunpowder and Sky) when I was over at the Tracking Board, mainly about the casting of Bill Skarsgard from It, Maika Monroe from It Follows, as well as Jeffrey Donovan and Kyra Sedgwick. It’s the new movie from Dan Berk and Robert Olsen, who directed the horror sequel The Stakelander and have written a pretty amazing comedy-thriller twist on the home invasion movie. Skarsgard and Monroe play a young couple who hide out in a seemingly abandoned house after robbing a store. They soon learn that not only is it not abandoned, but there is a young girl chained in the basement. The owners of the home, played by Kyra Sedgwick and Jeffrey Donovan, then return and things go sideways for the young couple as they find that maybe their petty crimes make them the good guys in this scenario.  Villains is getting a fairly hearty release into roughly 100 theaters across the country, so check your listings to see if/where it will be playing near you. (It mainly seems to be playing in Regal theaters across the country.)
Tumblr media
Another interesting genre film opening Friday is Henry Jacobson’s psychological thriller BLOODLINE (Momentum Pictures), starring Seann William Scott as Evan, a high school social worker with a secret – he’s also a serial killer who tries to help his patients by ridding them of their issues. Evan is also experiencing a new baby with his wife, which might keep him from his killing habits, except that his mother (Dale Dickey) has shown up to help them, and she was the one who taught him his ways. This is a really dark and gory film that I quite enjoyed in a similar way as some of my favorite serial killer thrillers, from Hitchcock’s Psychoto Henry, Portrait of a Serial Killer and others. It honestly can’t be a better time for this with all the true crime television we’re getting, and I was pretty blown away by Scott’s performance in this. Bloodlineisplaying at the IFC Center for Friday and Saturday late night screenings and probably will be available On Demand as well.
You can read my interview with Seann William Scott and the directors of VILLAINS over at The Beat, the latter posting Friday.
Tumblr media
The one wide release I have seen this weekend is Focus Features’ DOWNTOWN ABBEY, a continuation of the PBS series with an absolutely amazing British cast that includes Dame Maggie Smith, Penelope Wilton and so many more that I won’t name all of them. I feel that I’m not the best person to properly review the movie since I haven’t seen a second of the series, but I generally liked what I saw and might give it a look if I can find a good streaming source on which to binge it. I actually liked the movie enough to recommend it without having any previous knowledge of the series.
Probably my biggest disappointment of this week is that I didn’t have a chance to see James Gray’s AD ASTRA (20thCentury Fox), starring Brad Pitt, before Thursday night, because I wasn’t able to get to the press screening. It’s been one of my more anticipated movies of the year, mainly because I generally love outer space movies, but I also have been interested in seeing what Gray and Pitt do with the material, especially with such a great supporting cast.
Another movie that I only got to see just before this column posts is Sylvester Stallone’s RAMBO: LAST BLOOD (Lionsgate), which I reviewed over at The Beat. I had very few expectations for the movie, as I’ve never been a huge Rambo fan. I’m not sure why, but I guess I just never got into the Rah! Rah! USA! Stuff that permeated the United States in the ‘80s, and I was more into music than movies at the time. Reading my review, it’s obvious that Stallone’s latest attempt to revive a franchise didn’t do much for me.
You can read what I think of the above’s box office prospects over at The Beat, as well.
LIMITED RELEASES
I’m not quite sure why there are so many limited releases this weekend –I count almost 30 (!!!!) over on Rotten Tomatoes– but I’ll see what I can get to this week since I’m already a little behind. If you missed, Rob Zombie’s 3 FROM HELL on Monday and Tuesday night and more importantly, missed my scathing review of it over at The Beat, well, then you’ve missed it since this column is posting after it played its last night before its blu-ray release next month. Sorry!
Tumblr media
A fantastic documentary opening at the Metrograph this week is Jacqueline Olive’s directorial debut ALWAYS IN SEASON (Multitude Films), a stirring film about the history of lynching, circling around the death of 17-year-old Lennon Lacy from Bladenboro, North Carolina, which is ruled as a suicide but his mother Claudia is convince that her son was lynched. Olive’s powerful film provides a background for how lynching became so prevalent in the early part of the 20thCentury, including an eerie annual reenactment by the town of Monroe, Georgia that wants to make sure that the county’s atrocities aren’t forgiven or forgotten.  Narrated by Danny Glover, Olive’s directorial debut is powerful and moving and a film that must not be missed – maybe it’s no surprise that it won a Special Jury prize at Sundance Film Festival for “Moral Urgency” earlier this year. I was pretty shaken up when I saw it at this year’s Oxford Film Festival.
The Metrograph is also screening two National Geographic shorts, Alexander A. Mora’s The Night Crawlers and Orlando von Einsiedel’sLost and Found, over the next week. The Night Crawlers looks at a group of Filipino journalists known as the “Manila Nightcrawlers” who seek to expose the truth about President Duterte’s war on drugs and the number of people who lost their lives over it. Lost and Foundi s a new doc short from the director of the Netflix doc The White Helmets which looks at the Myanmar’s ethnic violence against the Rohingya people through the eyes of a man in a refugee camp seeking to reunite children with parents.
Japanese animation house Studio TRIGGER’s first feature film PROMARE (GKIDS) will get a limited release on Friday, following Fathom Events showings on Tuesday (already passed) and Thursday (tonight). It will then be opening in New York at the Metrograph and AMC Empire on Friday for a one-week run. It’s an apocalyptic sci-fi thriller set in a world thirty years after a race of flame-wielding mutant beings called the Burnish set half the world on fire an the battle between the anti-Burnish Burning Rescue and Lio Fotia, leader of the aggressive new “Mad Burnish” mutants.
Paolo Sorrentino, director of the Oscar-winning The Great Beauty and its follow-up Youth, returns with LORO (Sundance Selects), about a young hustler named Sergio (Riccardo Scamarcio) managing an escort service who sets his sights on the egotistical billionaire Italian ex-Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi (Tony Servillo) who is trying to bribe his way back into power. It will open at the IFC Center Friday.
A couple other docs opening this weekend, the first two opening at New York’s Film Forum…
Now playing is Hassan Fazili’s Midnight Traveler (Oscilloscope) about how the filmmaker received death threats from the Taliban in 2015 for running Kabul, Afghanistan’s Art Café, a progressive meeting place, so he, his wife and two young daughters must travel 3,500 miles over 3 years across four countries to get to Hungary, a journey documented via mobile phone cameras. It will open in L.A. on October 4.
Then on Friday, there’s Matt Tyrnauer’s new film WHERE’S MY ROY COHN? (Sony Pictures Classics) looks at the lawyer and power broker who was part of Joe McCarthy’s anti-Communist activities and who was pivotal in molding a young Queens developer named Donald Trump. I wanted to like this movie more because Roy Cohn is such an interesting human being in such a despicable way, but this doc really didn’t do much for me.
Opening in New York (Cinema Village) and L.A. (Laemmle Glendale) is DIEGO MARADONA (HBO Sports), the new doc from Asif Kapadia (Amy, Senna), which will show on HBO on October 1. If you don’t know international football (or soccer), the Argentine Maradona is one of the most famous footballers of all time, a bit of a legend since signing to Naples in 1984 for a record-setting fee. I haven’t watched this yet but hope to soon.
Opening at New York’s IFC Center Friday is Max Powers’ Don’t Be Nice (Juno Films), focusing on the Bowery Slam Poetry Team as they head to the national championships, and there will be QnAs almost every night in its week-long run, and then it will open in L.A. on September 27.
Completely unrelated but also at the IFC Center is a full-week run of National Theatre Live: Fleabag, screening a pre-recorded performance of Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s one-woman show that inspired her hit Emmy-nominated show from the Soho Playhousein London’s West End. Heck, I might try to get to one of these since it won’t be on television or any other format for at least a year.
After opening for “one night only” on Tuesday, Louie (The Cove) Psihoyos’ new movie The Game Changers will get a release on New York this Friday and L.A. the 27th. Exec. produced by James Cameron, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jackie Chan, it explores the rise of plant-based eating in professional sports along with Special Forces trainer James Wilks and features segments on Schwarzenegger, Formula One racer Lewis Hamilton, tennis player Novak Djokovic and NBA star Chris Paul.
Demi Moore, Ed Helms, Karan Soni (from the “Deadpool” movies) and Jessica Williams star in the horror-comedy Corporate Animals (Screen Media), the new comedy from Patrick Brice (Creep, The Overnight) about a corporate team-building adventure that turns to cannibalism when an office group find themselves trapped in a cave system. The movie has a great cast but the strange concept and weak screenplay really keeps the movie from delivering.
Other movies out this weekend include James Franco’s Zeroville (MyCinema), co-starring Megan Fox and Seth Rogen; Nicolas Cage’s new movie Running with the Devil (Quiver DIstribution), a drug thriller co-starring Laurence Fishburne, Barry Pepper, Leslie Bibb and more; and the award-winning Chinese drama Send Me to the Clouds (Cheng Cheng Films), opening in L.A., NY, Toronto and Vancouver.
STREAMING AND CABLE
Maybe the movie I’m most excited for this week is Zak Galifianakis’ BETWEEN TWO FERNS: THE MOVIE (Netflix), which I’m sure is going to be silly, maybe even stupid, but I’m still amused by his style of humor. I also haven’t seen the new Netflix doc Inside Bill’s Brain: Decoding Bill Gates, and I also no absolutely nothing about the movie other than what’s in the title.

The New Bev continues its “time out” at the bottom of this section as long as Tarantino uses his repertory theater to show Once Upon a Time … in Hollywood, and currently it’s booked through the end of September. What is life without fun? Yes it is the personality of the writer of this blog. If all of  you readers want to know the writer deeper then just keep on scrolling and reading.
Tumblr media
Let me take you on my journey growing as normal teenager that has a dream on his life. Being a simple kid wayback when we are living at Pindangan 2nd Camiling Tarlac the writer studied at Pindangan 2nd Elementary School which is a public school in addition,  mostly of  Filipino children attend public schools, which are funded by the government and free to attend. The quality of education at public schools remains poor. Classes are big, teaching material is lacking and teachers are poorly paid. But even though the writer studied at that school there is no way to bring him down because learning are so very important, the lessons that the writer gaining on every single day is the key to have a successful life, because knowledge is the only thing that some people cannot snatch, those lessons that the students taking it every day. Even if sometimes he played with his playmates he did not forget to study because his father and mother wants him to give focus on his studies some activities that the writer is doing when the writer is studying for examples, writing some sentences, solving basic math problems,  spelling, and lastly reading books given by the school where the writer studied elementary. When the writer is playing some “larong pambata” with his playmates they are wearing their own sincere smiles wayback there is no gadgets just not like these days all peoples has a mobile phones with them every day. Bacause people now a days are addicted in using phones, laptop, computers, tablet, and other gadgets.
Tumblr media
Then the writer graduated junior high school at Asian Lexcon School in that school the writer build up his attitude in that school  just like having a great time for socializing to other students of the school to  have more than friends over his comfort friends, building up going in front of the class, and also the other memories that the school gave to the writer the. All of the struggles on being a students starts here in this chapter of my high school life all of the stress in projects, seat works, exams, and other school connected that every students are doing. In this chapter the writer realizes that having a many friends can maks your personality grown because your friends are on your side giving advice and keep giving friendly love.
The writer loves KPOP (korean pop) watching, hearing, and other kpop related things that every fan inlove for. First group is BLACKINK or BLΛƆKPIИK is a South Korean girl group formed by YG Entertainment, consisting of four members whice are Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé, and Lisa. With the group's early commercial success, they were hailed as the New Artist of the Year at the 31st  Golden Disc Awards and the 26th Seoul Music Awards. Among the other member of these group my bias is Rosé because of her angelic voice, her very own distinct style on how she deliver the dance, and also her stage presence. Those are the reasons why the writer love BLACKPINK when the writer hear the song of these girl group it makes the mind of the writer more fun and boosted until now they are running the whole KPOP industry as number one all of the other group.

Among the other group member of these group my bias is Mark because of his fullness of visual his aura when he is on the stage his stage presence is very amazing his rap line is so satisfying to hear and his bass toned voice.
Tumblr media
And the last member to on my top three kpop list is TWICE is a South Korean girl group formed by JYP Entertainment through the 2015 reality show Sixteen. The EP was the highest selling K-pop girl group album of 2016, which sold 350,852 copies by year-end. Within 19 months after debut, Twice has sold over 1.2 million units of their four episodes and special album. Among the members of these group my bias are Nayeon, Sana, and Chaeyoung  these three are my bias because of their natural humorous personality, and also both of these three gorgeous women their full of talent that is the reason why the writer love TWICE.
Tumblr media
The writer have a condition on his eyes. Yes it is the very common eye condition that the writer have. Having a farsightedness eye condition (hyperopia) is a common vision condition in which you can see distant objects clearly, but objects nearby may be blurry however, the writer wearing an eyeglasses to protect his  eyes to the dangerous sunrays of the sun which is the presence of ultraviolet rays (UV rays) having a blurry eyes causes by the hard time using a mobile phone which is estimated about the start of  morning until the night ends or it might also cause due to the genes of the family example if your mother has this kind of eye condition it has a possible that you may get also this kind of eye condition that everyone do not want to have because it have many factor that it might change your lifestyle just like the writer. For example if the student that have the same condition to the writer that is sitting at the back of the classroom then the teacher is writing a lecture then you cannot see it because of the student have a condition similarly to the writer that is blurry sights then you cannot come up easily that is the struggles when you have this kind of condition especially if you are a student.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The writer also doing art works for example, sketching faces, gowns, and sometimes sceneries that caught the writer eyes, he is also doing some paintings, designing houses and other building structures. The writer personal dream is to become a famous fashion designer ever since he was a kid (grade four) that is what the writer like doing the estimated sketches of gowns, dresses, shoes, and other fashionable items are about more than fifty pieces full of sketches.
Tumblr media
Having fun in our life is just a piece of pie, the ingredients of the pie are simple yet powerful because those ingredients can make a delicious pie similarly, to the person  life some scenario in our life is simple yet it can make people smile because people are enjoying simple crystalline chapter of their life because “life is too short” so just enjoy the life given by our God and do not forget to keep smiling every day that is a piece of advice that that writer can give you whenever you all read this.

age:
— as of july 17, 2016, jade is 18
nationality:
— american
ethnicity:
— mexican, cuban, filipino, and chinese

languages spoken:
— english
— spanish
— enough tagalog to get by
— jade also knows how to count to ten in chinese and thinks it counts as knowing chinese even though it really doesn’t
sexuality:
— bisexual
GIVE ME GLORIOUS LIFE, THE STRAINING AND THE STRIFE
general:
— jade is honestly, pretty hot. she’s got that trendy instagram look that makes even the straightest of girls question. she has an oval-shaped face with a sharp jawline and defined cheekbones. her nose is thin, but rounded and points up into a button nose. her eyes are light and almond-shaped, with thick eyelashes and eyebrows to frame them. her lips are thick and surly, and her skin is dark and clear, only peppered with freckles.
hair color:
— naturally, brown, but jade likes to dye it all sorts of colors. she did most of her experimenting as a pre-teen and for now, is sticking with a bubblegum pink hair color, but she’s been known to dye her hair green, silver, blue, purple...the list goes on.
hairstyle:
— jade’s hairstyle varies from day to day. jade’s hair is naturally slightly wavy, so she normally either leaves it like that or puts it back in a messy low ponytail. jade’s not the one for extravagant hairstyles.
eye color:
— jade’s eyes were bright green when she was born, but as she’s gotten older, they darkened down to green and eventually, to her current hazel.
body:
— i hate to be crude, but jade has a rockin’ bod. she’s one of those people that works out for fun. like, she’ll go to the gym and have fun. wild, i know. not only that, but she excelled at sports. i’m talking field hockey, cross country, track, basketball, soccer—jade did all of it, and it gave her a pretty high metabolism, hence her smokin’ hot body. she has a pretty small waist with toned abs, muscular arms, and thick legs.
height:
— jade stands at 5′6″ or 168 centimeters
weight:
— jade weighs 130 pounds or 59 kilograms.
LOVE, PASSION, HOPE IN THEIR DIVINEST SCOPE
casual style:
— jade’s everyday wear is simple. she dresses like your typical “instagram baddie,” just with more comfort. i’m talking sweatpants, crop tops, and sneakers. most of her clothes aren’t that expensive, mainly because jade is super broke, all the time, but it looks fine on jade. it’s nothing special, really.
formal:
— jade rarely goes anywhere where she needs to dress up, but when the occasion arises, she also usually goes for a simple look. jade would normally dress in an unadorned, long dress, maybe with spaghetti straps or a leg slit, but jade prefers to keep the attention on her face and not on her clothes. she’d probably wear some nice heels, too, or at least ones that look nice, and some jewelry from claire’s, probably.
sleepwear:
— jade’s sleepwear isn’t anything fancy. she usually just wears a big sweatshirt, even if she has people sleeping over. no one important’s really gonna see her anyway, so...
swimwear:
— jade’s swimwear is pretty much just the basic bathing suits you’d find at target, your simple bikinis with a few fun patterns or interesting cutouts. living in florida, she goes to the beach often, so she’ll pretty much wear any bathing suit that’s cheap, functional, and looks somewhat decent. she’s not really too picky.
athletic wear:
— jade’s workout clothes are pretty much based on comfort and they don’t really deviate from the usual “leggings-and-sports-bra” thing that most people have going on. no one’s going to see her, so what does it even matter?
dreamworld style:
— jade’s subconscious favors clothes that are a little more rugged than your typical dream keeper. she can be seen in short, dark green skirts and capes. they’re not exactly armor, but they’re easy to move around in, and they allow her to blend in with the other dream keepers. they’re adorned with gold pins.
— however, when the time comes, jade wears as much protective gear as she can. that is, while looking cute. her armor covers her up much more than her casual clothes. there are few rules of physics and science in the dreamworld, so often, armored clothes look exactly the same as normal clothes, similar to the uses of vibranium in black panther. normally, one would wear whatever armor is available, as there aren’t very many battles in the dreamworld and therefore, not a lot of armor, but jade likes earth-toned ( usually green ) armor that hugs her body and doesn’t weigh her down too much. she will often wear a cloak, a cape, or a poncho, just because most of the battles take place near the nightmare realm, where it’s much colder. she also wears a black gas mask, to try to protect her from hallucinations and any attacks that may affect her face.
HIGH WINDS ON MIGHTY SEAS, NOT SHELTERED BAY
personality overview:
— jade is kind of a confusing person. on the outside, she seems extroverted and crazy. she’s reckless, insane, and honestly, kind of mean. she’s egotistical and refuses to think about anyone but herself. anything she does is for her immediate comfort and benefit, even if it hurts someone else. she seems stupid on the outside too, and she kind of is. she focuses on the present, which makes her terrible at making plans and getting out of situations, but either way, jade picks up on social cues very well. she just doesn’t care. jade doesn’t look for anyone else’s opinion on her, which is both a blessing and a curse. she’s rough around the edges, and seems like an open book, when really, it’s just the tip of the iceberg.
— once more, jade isn’t stupid. she knows that people wouldn’t fear her, listen to her, or really even like her if they knew who she was at her core. so, she bottles everything up. she doesn’t disclose her past, her emotions, or her pain to anyone. she’ll whine about papercuts like nobody’s business so people think she’s open, but she’ll suffer in silence if she suffers from anything bad. at her core, jade is a cunning girl that prefers being alone, but she turns on her facade of a happy, extroverted, life of the party when she has to. maybe she feels like she has something to prove. maybe she doesn’t want people to see her weak. who knows?
personality type:
— istp-a
strengths:
— energetic // jade is a seemingly, endless ball of energy that doesn’t seem to get stressed out over much, only if she believes that something will seriously have consequences.
— creative and practical // jade isn’t super smart, but what she does know with a combination of her anxiety, makes her combine creative solutions with practical information to figure things out.
— spontaneous and rational // jade doesn’t think much before making decisions. she doesn’t overthink things and sees a crossroads sort of like a multiple choice answer. she thinks through all the scenarios and chooses the most logical one.
— knows how to prioritize // jade tries to focus on the task at hand and moves everything else to the back of her mind until she can come back to it later, which usually works pretty well.
— tough // jade’s really good at repressing all her emotions and only complaining about stupid, petty things. she can remain pretty relaxed during a crisis, giving her the impression of toughness.
weaknesses:
— stubborn // jade does this fun thing where she disagrees with anything you say, even if she doesn’t really believe it. that’s how stubborn she is.
— insensitive // jade cares little for the feelings of others and uses logic and her own personal agenda to get what she wants, even if it hurts others.
— private // as i said before, jade seems like an open book, but most people who think they know her really don’t know anything important about her.
— dislike commitment // jade has a really hard time forming meaningful relationships with the people around her, especially romantic ones, because in jade’s mind, a relationship would only weigh her down, so she just....doesn’t commit.
— reckless // jade is bored easily, which leads to terrible decisions and unnecessary trials that could’ve been avoided had she just sat still for a few minutes. with jade, situations often escalate quickly and she can quickly lose control of a situation.
STILL LET ME SNATCH THE CROWN
stats:
— strength : 10 // jade was a boxer for a few years. not only that, but the endless sports she did as a child and many, many fights she got into left her with a lot of brute strength.
— agility : 3 // while jade did many sports, gymnastics and/or dance was not one of them. she’s not very graceful and the little agility she has came from jumping hurdles.
— stealth : 2 // jade is a classically loud person, and very clumsy. stealth is definitely not her forte.
— intellect : 5 // jade is also fantastically bad at thinking ahead. she’s not good at planning ahead. she is good at deducing things, though.
— hand to hand combat : 7 // while jade is strong physically and her boxing and karate skills do come in handy, jade isn’t particularly good with weapons, so her hand to hand combat skills are merely average.
— weaponry : 0 // jade doesn’t even know how to shoot a gun, and jade’s far too clumsy to be good with swords and knives.
physical disabilities:
— a bad punch in her left ear left jade slightly hard of hearing. she should probably use a hearing aid, but didn’t really ever have the money to fix it.
mental disorders:
— jade has severe anxiety. it can always be seen in one way or another, usually by bouncing her leg and going through every worst possible scenario in her head.
— jade also has adhd, hence her not-so-great report cards. jade initially wanted to learn in school, but her adhd made it so difficult and she got so little help that  she simply lost her motivation.
OF ALL LIFE HAS TO GIVE
friends:
— jade doesn’t need friends. they disappoint her. also, her commitment thing...
family:
— ana paulina rosales : mother // jade’s mother was always busy, which wasn’t her fault, but they never formed a meaningful relationship. jade learned from a young age to stay away from her mother, as to not bother or inconvenience her, so while jade would certainly like to protect her mom, she rarely talks to her about anything important.
— christopher andrew qi : father // jade never met her father. she detests him for leaving her and her mom. plain and simple.
past relationships:
— god, where do i start? jade’s had countless relationships, but none that really lasted more than a week. again, fear of commitment, so...
pets:
— jade’s family never had the time or money for any pets, so none.
AND TO CRY BUT ONCE
pre-conception:
— jade’s mother, ana paulina rosales was the daughter of a filipino immigrant and a poor mexican farmer. neither of them had anything, which meant that neither did jade’s mother. determined to break the cycle of poverty, jade’s mother tried her hardest to finish high school and actually did. like many immigrants, jade’s mother knew that she had to the united states if she wanted to do anything more than be a beggar on the street. so, she hitchhiked and walked all the way to monterrey, saving as much money as she could to finally get a visa and buy a plane ticket to dallas, texas, where she met christopher andrew qi, a cuban-chinese lawyer who promised ana paulina the world. she got pregnant, and when he found out, he bailed, leaving her broke, homeless, and pregnant.
— jade was born nine months later, and lived in dallas for the first few years of her life, until her mom managed to get back on her feet and save enough money to move to new smyrna beach, florida, a quiet and quaint town filled with retired white people, so if you’re a maid, basically prime real estate. jade used to help out, too, until she had to go to school. she was diagnosed with adhd at around seven years old, but no one really did anything to help jade learn, even though she really did want to. eventually, she simply lost interest which just led to jade listening to hours worth of green day during school, which didn’t help anyone at all.
— jade realized she was bisexual when she was in seventh grade and kissed a girl in her class, which was a lot less fun than it sounded. jade spent the next few years denying her sexuality, and her town wasn’t the most accepting of gay people, especially not lgbt+ women of color, which is when jade started to get into her first few scrapes, which began escalating. jade was keeping to herself, frying ants with a magnifying glass in eighth grade-ish, and before she knew it, people were punching her. she punched them back, but she didn’t have enough time to react, and the kid hit her left ear, hard. it sent her to the emergency room, and to this day, jade’s still hard of hearing. but life went on nonetheless.
— that fight was the first time jade went to juvie. she was accused of assault and battery, and come on, this is florida. who are they gonna believe, a straight white male kid or a bisexual woman of color? yeah, jade went to juvie. after that, it mostly went downhill. no one trusted her, so she was convicted of various things that never happened, for example, drug possession and distribution, resisting arrest, trespassing, and burglary. jade pretty much stopped caring at that point, and was arrested a total of 27 times, mostly for things she hadn’t done. after that, she figured that if people thought she was guilty, then she might as well live up to their standards and started regularly breaking the law. she only got caught sometimes.
— jade had originally made her instagram account in 2013, when she was 14 years old. obviously, most 14-year-olds are ugly and disgusting, so jade didn’t have a lot of followers from the start, but as she got older and prettier, her pictures started gaining recognition. she even did a few modeling gigs, which is where she found her passion. sadly, she had to drop out of high school her senior year to work and help her mom. she did help a lot by getting sponsorships on instagram, though, which brings us to present day. i can’t say much more because it’d give away the plot, so i’ll just leave it at that.
BUT ONCE I LIVE
likes:
— shopping // jade doesn’t go shopping often because she’s super broke, but when she does, she enjoys it.
— modeling // jade finds it relaxing and it helps her focus. plus, she’s good at it.
— boxing // out of all the sports jade has done, boxing is her favorite. it lets her harness her anger and frustration into something productive.
— the beach // who doesn’t like swimming, getting tan, and getting sand up your buttcrack for weeks?
— meat // jade tried going vegetarian, but she lost so much muscle mass that she had to keep eating meat. she got a taste for it eventually.
dislikes:
— creative writing // jade is only good at things that make sense, things that have a formula to them. creative writing does not.
— insects // they’re weird and disgusting and jade does not enjoy them.
— children // jade has a little bit of a potty mouth, so kids around jade is a sure recipe for disaster.
— fish // jade eats meat, yes, but she can’t stand the smell of fish, so even cooked fish is something that jade definitely stays away from.
— police officers // they’re annoying and kind of a nuisance and definitely a wrench in jade’s illegal shenanigans.
extra:
— jade can play the drums. not well, but she can carry a beat.
— jade auditioned for america’s next top model, but didn’t make it.
— jade met chris hemsworth once. or, rather, she broke into chris hemsworth’s house and tried to get an autograph. he kicked her out and she did not get her autograph and is now not allowed within 100 feet of chris hemsworth.

Artist spotlight: aaron!

Introduce yourself I'm aaron and I'm a filipino artist in California! Tokyo Mew Mew was the first manga I ever owned, and my favorites are Ichigo and Lettuce!  I also love Kiyotaka Ishimaru from danganronpa, musicals, and the color yellow. When did you start drawing? Are you a digital or traditional artist? I've been drawing ever since I can remember! I used to draw random people, teen titans, or inuyasha. In high school, I got a hand-me-down wacom tablet from a friend and from there, I started creating my own ocs with backstories. I've been a digital artist since then. Do you use any traditional mediums? If so, which are your favorites? I use mechanical pencils and ballpoint pens. I really like using pink, blue, and purple highlighters to color in values, but recently I've been trying to collect actual artistic markers. I think they're calligraphy markers tbh, but they're double sided and they give me more colors so idc XD Why do you prefer traditional over digital? (or viceversa) I really like the accessibility of traditional- I can draw wherever I want, as long as I have a pen and paper. But for showing off my work, I'd much rather it be digital. Digital gives me access to so many colors and I can zoom in to create more details. It's also a lot cleaner than taking a picture with my shaky phone quality. What do you think is the most challenging part about being a traditional/digital artist? It's difficult for me to choose the correct colors. When I only did traditional, I'd only color in greyscale because that's what mangas did and that's all the colors I had. I can't really work with more than 3-5 tones/colors or else it'll get scared it'll look too busy. I always have to filter my colors to give them a little more life, because the first ones I choose are usually washed out. What inspires your pieces? I draw my ocs a lot! Drawing them in different ways and scenarios helps me solidify their designs and personalities. I will often have phases where I'll draw a LOT of my current favorite oc. Explain your "everyday" drawing process I'll either draw one single character in a flowy pose, or two characters interacting/posing together. I'll digitally sketch something out and keep erasing and re-drawing the lines on the same layer until I have my line art. I block out colors with a binary pen so that my basic color palette looks good and then select each color so I can put detail in it. Depending on how much energy I have, I'll do simple shading or I'll keep the lineart layer a little sketchy and just color over it for a lineless piece. I don't have a lot of practice with lineless because it takes a lot out of me, but sometimes I get really into it

Do you have an artist you admire (or more than one)?

Is there an artwork you are most proud of? Why?

I really like this one because it's lineless and I put a lot of effort into the hair and giving it different colors

I am also proud of this one because it's TWO full body characters with a background and soft lighting. It took a lot of effort out of me but it was really satisfying to finish!"
Do you listen to music (or tv shows/films/anything else) when drawing? Yes! I listen to musicals, chill beats, or 80's/90's music. I can't hear what I'm thinking when the music is too jumpy and fun. I also get distracted when there are people talking, so I can't listen to films or letsplays when I draw

What makes art interesting for you? I like making things! I like how my brain comes up with things and i can make those things become a reality through my art. What do you do when art block strikes? If I want to draw, and my art is looking Ugly, then I draw big and messy. Whatever comes to mind naturally, I'll just put it down. I'll draw random people, or big anime eyes. I'll redraw something with a premade design so I don't have to think of the designs myself, or I'll draw someone in a spine-breaking pose and over-exaggerate the features. What’s the most valuable art advice you’ve ever received?
Experience things! When you experience things, it gives you a personal connection to use in your art.

In Conclusion, 2018
Tumblr media
Goodbyes have always seemed second nature to me, but as soon as they happen, there’s either nothing, or so much more left to say. It’s one of those things that should come easy for writers with much pain and experience to show for, but decides to be a creative roadblock with a deadline. The end always does feel like a new beginning, if you think about it; partially because goodbyes are often times so sudden that we barely have the chance to take a breath before speaking. It could also be the exact opposite: a slow burn that gives us time to prepare, but still manages to completely take us aback on how real it feels, so we end up letting out what begs to come forth, without knowing that some things are better left unsaid. I am a firm believer that people only mean what they say the moment they say it, and as I am writing this, I feel the weight of the entire year on my shoulder about to be eased by the promise of consolation: what lessons were learned, and how do I apply them?
To tell you the truth, I’ve always had an inkling that 2018 was not going to be my year, but now I see that there were just a lot of battles that I won and lost, tragically. Most of the time chronically, so I truly felt whatever fortune life presented at that time. The first half of the year provided me with heartbreaks in the demise of a relationship, the death of a friend, and a rejection that threw my college future off-course for a while, before I was able to redeem myself: what’s meant to be, always will be. I graduated Senior High School with flying colors. I got into UPD through a talent test in writing. I watched LANY and Harry Styles live. I worked my first job at my cousin’s spa in Tomas Morato as their supervisor in the summer, met so many people I now can proudly call constants. I released a short story after a long writing drought. I learned a new thing or two, like how much I enjoy writing in Filipino that the course I never imagined taking gave me a mission to widen my writing span with a purpose. I joined the controversial 96th Philippine Collegian that raised eyebrows, but gave me a new family and so much insight on journalistic writing. I applied for UP Children’s Rights Advocates League (UP CRAdLe), my first org in UP, to give myself an avenue to help out. I gave my first talk on creative writing, alongside seasoned professionals, at PUP. I turned nineteen without much fuss, something my spirit animal Lily Aldrin-Ericksen (from HIMYM) will not approve of. I went out with my friends more, learned new ways to get around the city (and broke my curfew) at the same time. I decided it’s okay not to be okay sometimes, gave myself breathing space from my overachieving, perfectionist ideals and took care of my anxiousness rather than tolerating habits that contributed to its continuity. True to its promise, taking it day by day gave me the ride of a lifetime. I felt like I matured more this year than I ever have before, and I have that to be grateful for.
I also saw a silver lining when the next half of the year led me to the love of my life, only to fall short when I was doing so much for so little, and was given uncertainty and indecisiveness in return. It felt more than just saying goodbye to a person. There was too much on the line, so it started to feel like losing a part of myself especially because I found my best friend in the same person. But resiliency in two people can mean see you again or see you around, still, even in the attempt of friendship for the sake of the people affected. I never noticed how hard it was to fix things I can’t take the blame for; hence being forced to sit this one out because it’s out of my control. Forgiving myself proves to be a task I need to conquer in order to accept it. However, I can’t tell you how beautiful it is that even in hurt, just by looking back, I’m surprised of the love I’m capable of and the memories shared that no one else but the both of us know of. I will miss the people around us the most. What also adds salt to the wound is the fact that I’ll probably never have the chance to say my goodbyes or explain things from my perspective. I guess growing up means there has to be room for love to take shape in different ways, or for time and space to hone us into better people until we’re exactly where we need to be. If anything, I just have to let life run its course. Let the chips fall where they may (an ode to that iconic Gossip Girl Season 5 finale) until I get the winning hand. God has always had His own way of surprising me. If a love is meant to be, I’d know. I am my mother’s child, after all, born into a family that was favored by destiny and a lot of faith.
The lessons disguised as experiences I gathered this year were all pointing to the same virtue: patience. Let me tell you, for someone as anxious as I am, it’s hard to trust anything or anyone if I know I can take things into my own hands. I’ve always been the type to organize and plan whenever I could, I often feel restless because I choose to work for whatever I want and currently have. I guess that’s why even in different scenarios, a recurring theme I notice, in terms of learning, really, is to wait. In times when I don’t realize I am waiting, I wake up one day really happy because I got what I wanted, but I barely acknowledge all the times I had to sit still for it to happen. I truly want to forgive myself for ever trying too hard or not trying at all, for all the opportunities missed, and the embarrassing honest-to-god-knock-me-out moments I’d rather not relive. I apologize for any of it, because if you know me well enough, you’d know I thought about it over and over until I am certain of what to take the blame for and what to do next time I am faced with a similar situation. I will no longer punish myself for being too much, rather, I will redirect my energy to things and people that deserve it. It’s a long way to go, but what matters to me the most is that I’m trying to be better and acknowledging my wrongdoings along the way. I have the start somewhere, don’t I?
This year also gave me a rude awakening on commitment and priorities. I think I’ve made myself ready for anything, especially long-term, if I deem it worthy of my time and effort. I also see myself as someone with good time management (aka my “I’ll complain about it but you’ll never see me not do it” complex) so my priorities were never an issue, however, even if my IQ doesn’t suffer, my EQ does. I can’t blame anyone but myself for being such a hopeless romantic because no matter how much I deny it, I quite like being all lovey-dovey. However, after a series of failed attempts and investments despite being in my best behavior, I guess it truly is the time to let love take the backseat for a while. I’m crossing my fingers that I won’t break my own rules this time. After all, I can stand on my own, and ironically, it’s what men always seem to love about me until it backfires drastically in different ways. I either stray away from my usual, uptight self, or stay in the upper hand, until they get tired of it. I guess there is some truth in the belief that you fall out of love for the same reasons you fell in it. For 2019, the only person I am looking into falling in love with (again and again) is myself. I still have a lot to work and reflect on, and stubbornness to let go of. For whatever it’s worth, I got to admit that though there is the aura of loneliness that clings on solitude, nothing feels as good as going to bed without worrying about another person. In return, I’ll cling onto any good feeling that comes out of this as hard as I can.
There’s something about the end of another year and the beginning of a new one that rouses everyone from their stupor (momentarily) until we’re all out for blood, or the best version of ourselves. At the very least, it’s always for the benefit of ourselves and those around us, lest we forget what we came in for. I have a lot of things planned out for myself in 2019, a new set of goals to achieve and dreams to pursue. I’ve always made myself busy to fill voids. I can’t divulge any further, since I somehow still have the tendency of losing interest whenever I tell people what I am up to. Maybe it’s because I live for the thrill of it all, and the shock from everyone, including myself, when I manage to pull things off. There’s a certain charm to things when you least expect them.
The only thing I want to attest to right now is my promise to write more for leisure and give you more content to look forward to, both in Filipino and English. I can never be too sure of myself, since a new year can also mean a new set of problems, setbacks, failures, and heartbreaks I may never be prepared for; but at least I know that come what may, I will always be provided with the strength and courage to get through. If I had known then that growing up meant more than just the no-fail linear path that includes the college-job-marriage mindset, I would have wanted to stay young longer. Adults have often tried to warn me and others, though, so it’s fair game. I just wish I wasn’t so in the rush. I’ve always thought I was mature for my age, but at nineteen, I feel more confused by the minute. There’s so much more to learn and experience before I ever deem myself worthy of honor. Sometimes I can’t believe I’m almost out of my teenage years when I know I still have my childish moments. This is a process I’m willing to see through, no matter how unbearable it gets. As a writer, it’s imperative for me to experience life in the extremities of emotions, more than just the gray areas I’m well acquainted with. It’s what helps with the craft, well, I can’t write about what I don’t know. If I could wish for something in 2019, it might as well be to regain my footing from the setbacks of 2018.
I’m ready if you are. Stay tuned.
