eh, this is a very, very loose parallel to the other one I did... also, i didn't get the wording of your prompt 100% right... sorry!!!

He'd found her the first time on Endor, loose-limbed and quiet and at peace with the gaping hole in the sky where her father's machine used to be

Now, after the Battle of Jakku, where they'd lost so many and won the entire thing, she walks on the beach towards his little house, tucked off the side of the cliff

It wasn't anywhere near her old house, still standing in the middle of a field, several tens of kilometers away, but it was nice. Cute, even. It had a big window out front where he could see the ocean.

But Kes had said he'd be there. He had nowhere else to go, supposedly

And Cassian Andor as a farmer wasn't something she'd expected

Apparently, once the list of names of fallen rebels had been released, he'd all but bolted out of the Rebellion, lost, and in pain

(She'd been on that list. The bullets went through her shoulder, sides, legs, and sternum. Melshi had seen her go down and bolted to her, and Cassian had heard her cry over their comms, and she'd seen another soldier yank Melshi back towards the ship.)

Cassian had screamed. Louder, fearful. Terrified.

Please don't leave me, she'd thought. But the soldier yanked a thrashing Melshi aboard, and Jyn had had to watch as they tore off into the sky.

The Empire had been burned to the ground, but its hold still lingered. Deserting 'troopers fled the dunes, shooting anything that moved, even their friends. By the time night fell, it was ice cold, and she was completely alone with only the sound of shifting sand and winks of stars falling

That next morning, a lone and kind Nu-Cosian found her and took her home. Terpa cared for her for three months, nursing her back to health and quietly asking if the war really was over.

("I miss my daughter," was all she said when Jyn asked why she was helping a Rebel.)

Jyn spent those three months healing, helping Terpa sell and make useful and occasionally decorative wares, and thinking of Cassian all the while

(They'd never become more. She didn't know why. Well, maybe she did, because Cassian had always maintained a respectful distance, even when she'd stepped closer.)

Thankfully, eventually, a supply ship came in, Jakku having been riddled with carnage and debris and a severe food shortage since the battle, and Jyn had hitched a ride out, Terpa looking on with something like pride.

When she'd finally contacted the Rebellion, Kes had been delighted. "Andor's going to lose his mind," he'd laughed, and Jyn had heard a baby coo in the background. "He said he was going home."

So now she's here. In Lah'mu, kilometers away from the first place she called home, and only steps away from the last.

Nearby, the sun was warm and melting, dipping slowly under the smooth ocean in front of her. Just like Scarif, Jyn thought, and rapped her knuckles twice against the blue door.

One beat, two. Then, it was wrenched open.

Cassian Andor still looked as beautiful as anyone she'd ever known

Those brown eyes stared at her, unblinking. He didn't say anything, didn't move.

"Brought you a sunset." Jyn said, giving him a small smile and gesturing to the picturesque scene behind her. "At least this time there's no giant wave and a laser--"

she didn't have time to react when Cassian hurled himself at her, one hand behind her neck and the other around her waist.

The hug was tight, and she pressed herself as close as she could to him, hoping he understood what she was saying without words.

(She couldn't breathe. But that wasn't because of the hug.)

"Jyn," Cassian murmured like a prayer, pulling away to look her in the eyes. He brushed a strand of hair away from her eyes, fingers gently caressing her cheekbone until he cupped her whole face in his hands. "Welcome home."

And he pulled her inside.

are you named after anyone?

fun fact, accidentally! my parents just thought caitlin was a cool name, but i have some distant ancestor who immigrated to america from ireland who was also named caitlin, and my grandpa was apparently SO excited by the idea that i would've been named after her that my mom and dad were like, "yep, sure! we totally did that!"

2. when was the last time you cried?

when i caught up to the most recent episode of succession on tuesday afternoon. it hit very close to home watching the roy siblings go through that, is all i'll say.

3. do you have kids?

nope! just a nephew i'm a cool gay aunt for, and i'm raising him with all the right things (he loves star wars and batman, i'm doing good)

4. do you use sarcasm a lot?

lol never (always)

5. what sports do you play/have played?

i used to do soccer and basketball as a kid before i found horses, and from then on it's just been the equestrian sports babey

6. what's the first thing you notice about other people?

probably whether or not they can take/make a joke. i'm big on a sense of humor.

brown/verging on hazel

i vibe with both, and pretty much anything, as long as the story is good.

knowing a lot of useless things about a whole wide variety of topics; i was a quiz bowl kid. i also have fun singing and playing piano, and have some talent with it. writing? might have a little.

11. what are your hobbies?

writing, reading, film criticism, singing, playing piano. i haven't been horseback riding in a while but i'm looking to change that soon because that's been a hobby very important to my life.

i have a cat named katniss, and she's my little baby girl!

14. favorite subject in school?

god, all of them? i loved school, actually, that's why i'm a teacher LMAO loved my science and english classes, though, and in college i loved my latin, film, and psychology classes. (and was a psychology major and film minor, and now teach psychology for a living)

15. dream job?

i'm pretty happy teaching, tbh. that said, i would still love to make it to a professional level with some writing one day, either through a screenplay or getting to work on an ongoing comic series. but as much as i know i would write an amazing spider-man comic (pun intended), i don't want that job, actually lol; it just seems like you get nothing but grief.

my puppy is now a teenager and I'm losing my absolute mind.

he's forgotten that he's supposed to tell me when he has to pee. see: the two accidents he had today on the floor and on my couch.

he's grabbing everything in sight (toilet paper, clothes, fake plants, papers, shoes, rugs, anything) and has decided that because he's tall, that means he can counter surf and also pull me halfway across the road because he wants to go over to the other side

he's attention-biting me because he's a dramatic little shit and I want to exist as me for just two seconds

he's obsessed with bras.

what even is obedience? not surely something he's supposed to follow, right?

the backtalk. wow. I have never felt like I've been chewed out by a dog before. Now I have.

Pushing the boundaries. When I do get him to listen to me and get him to, for example, get in "place," he'll sit there for two seconds as I turn my back and then move as soon as I turn around. Just two weeks ago, he could hold a "place" for three minutes and I could make all sorts of noises, sit down, turn my back, and all this other stuff without him leaving his place cot.

Suddenly is ravenous. Wants all of my food, even though he's not food-motivated at all.

Zoomies galore, and higher energy levels.

Sleeps longer in the morning.

Has one last baby tooth to lose and is apparently upset about this.

Eating all his toys. For some reason.

Get a dog, they said. It will be fun, they said.

i think the fact that cardan annotated one of his books for school is not talked about enough. hes such a bookworm and i love it so much

yes yes yes!!! this is kinda why i don't really vibe with the "Cardan is a himbo" take. like the man annotates his books and has been known to read voraciously to get what he wants. no part of that screams "head empty" to me.

of course, everyone is welcome to envision Cardan howsoever they please. and i think himbo!Cardan can certainly be a fun play on his character. it's all for the bantz, and i'm not mad at that.

but personally, i see Cardan as exceptionally intellectual. so intellectual, in fact, that it's really most of why he's so intimidating.

because here's the thing: he doesn't have much of a physical intimidation factor. he can't wield a sword or weapon of any kind. he hasn't learned to fight, not in the proper sense at least. the most he can do is like... flip a coin over his knuckles, steal the ring off your finger without you noticing, and demolish you in a fashion competition.

and i guess he can put you in a chokehold if you're rude to his queen lmfao.

he also could use magic to intimidate, if he wanted to. he could ensorcel mortals to get what he wanted, if he wanted to. but most of what we've seen of him using magic of any kind is to protect Jude, not scare/harm people.

i think the fact that Cardan has these magical capabilities, chooses not to use them, and still manages to get what he wants, is a very insidious kind of terrifying.

more often than not, words and knowledge are his weapons. he uses powers of observation and cleverness to his advantage. he notices things, and he's very clever about what he notices. he knows precisely how and when to press people's buttons, he has an acute social awareness, and that makes him potentially very dangerous (depending on which side of his graces you lie). especially in a world like Faerie where the great majority of people are socially inept.

just because he is in love in TWK and couldn't see that exiling Jude was not, in fact, a clever riddle and would, in fact, backfire miserably, doesn't mean he's not smart.

rather, this is what makes him so interesting! he's intelligent but not in the cold, insensitive sort of way we often see when a character is crowned with the "intelligent" trope. he clearly still has feelings and a wide breadth of emotion, and that may cause him to fuck up sometimes, but it doesn't cancel out his intelligence.

he's just not always particularly smart when it comes to Jude. but how can we fault him for that? we're all fools in love.

no pressure whatsoever, but I saw your tags on the Zootopia post, and I would DIE for a Lucien/Elain buddy story like that. There's not enough Elucien content!!!

I love my babies!! There really never is enough content. I wrote a few more things for a Tale of the Fox & the Fawn but it gets a little discouraging when there isn’t much interaction with posts (which I’m sure all content creators can relate to) so I haven’t bothered posting them. But maybe I will!

I just think they would be hilarious as a buddy cop story. I can really see Elaine unknowingly testing Lucien’s patience because she’s so cheerful and smiley with a rocking hot body that is very distracting.

Sigh. Who knows.
