Art request #11. Thank you for this request, anon! Post-Kaguya (or just post-war) Obito is my favorite Obito, and naturally this art has spiralled out of control 🤪 Obito: Rebuilding the World.

Building Buildings AU headcanons: * Obito lives, his chakra & Sharingan are blocked. * After some time they (somehow) unblock the Mokuton for construction purposes (the Juubi's bijuudama destroyed some towns, Mokuton users needed), and he can shape his chakra only the way it is needed for this ability. If he tries anything else, it just doesn't work. * Obito has no idea how to use Mokuton for construction & architecture, so Yamato teaches him. * Since he can't use chakra even for simple things like sticking to surfaces or climbing walls, he sometimes needs safety gear that he hates, but everybody else finds it amusing :D * The goggles are very useful -- there's a lot of dust from the debris. * Gradually Obito starts enjoying this a lot and is glad he can do something like this. Aaaand some amazing cracktastic headcanons from @cool-thymus 🧡 * Yamato is like: "I'm NOT going to fraternize with a war criminal, not even if he is your former teammate, senpai." And then in a couple of days: "Here, Obito, I made you some soup! You need your strength, you're doing great!" * Yams is a bit of a control freak, and everything should be by the book. And then there's Obito 😆 Yams is carefully showing Obito how to put together a neat building, while Obito creates something similar yet super weird/morbid/questionable. Y: Obito, what is this? O: What? I followed your instructions. You told me to follow my instinct. Y: This is not.. I meant your Mokuton abilities, chakra-wise! O: ... I did what I did. * So as a "punishment" Obito gets to live in his weird building for a few days under the leaking roof (he ignored some construction rules for the sake of the morbid beauty of said roof). * And when Yams comes back to check on him, he finds Obito sitting on the floor, totally unphased, the roof is leaking, water streaming right above Obito, BUT he had mokutoned a cute little umbrella over his head sprouting from his neck/shoulders. And again he deadpans, "I did what I did." Thanks @cool-thymus, I think I died laughing 🤣

What if I gave Sakura the Mokuton huh?

I wish Sakura had learned to use Mokuton in canon!! Or at least water ninjutsu and earth ninjutsu (since those 2 are Sakura's elemental affinities). Although I love her super strength, it woulda been nice to see how awesome she woulda been with some mid- and long-range techniques.

There is only one explanation. The Mokuton has been awakened again.

Exhaustion overcame him in a way it hadn't for a while now, at least since the war. His limbs felt like lead, and his eyes burnt like he'd been staring into the Sun, like his body was reclaiming the rest it had been deprived of for more than two decades. How ironic was that? For a body like his, which needed no sleep, succumbing to the gentle nothingness suddenly seemed appealing.

Instead, when he was about to leave himself in the care of the baku so that his memories wouldn't disturb his rest, a foreign sensation flowed through him. Foreign in the sense that it didn't feel like him, even when he knew for a fact that it was. Or had been, once upon a time. Wild fire tamed only by the same brand of tiredness that flooded him moments ago. Hot, burning chakra, although sluggish like forcing it's way out of embers, trickled slowly into his system. Mixing with his little dry sticks and sparks, once a humid forest and raging inferno coexisting through sheer spite and a misguided will, it attempted to replenish his emptying life force.

Turning his head to the side, he found exactly what he expected. He felt the need to say something, to get the boy to let go, maybe a joke about not being an elderly man in need of assistance. Yet, his mouth wouldn't move. He could only stare as a thought formed in his mind: he really had been a kind person, once.

Could he be, again?

Friend: "You know it's so weird that chakra-infused plant-magic can bind the demons and mess with a target's chakra. It's just... power-infused plants. It's not like it's anything crazy like mind control powers."

Me: "..."

Friend: "Oh no what are you thinking about now?"

Me: "One: Nara shadow jutsu puppetry. Two: Mokuton is clearly not just a basic ass ability or the other people with the guy's cells would be able to pull off his feats. Three: didn't all chakra come from a tree? A chakra-infused tree? That Kaguya (and I hate her whole existence) ate the fruit of and something something Ten-Tails Demon that got split up and the husk turned into a freaky ass tree-statue?"
