Kind of a teaser for a fanfic idea I've hinted at before [1] [2] [3] (check the links if you're intrigued at all).

Currently (without spoiling the plot), the idea is for a very emotional and character-driven story, testing the characters against a more realistic and depressing world.

If this post gains enough traction and enough people stay tuned, I might start drafting sooner, but I can't guarantee.

Part 7

With a sense of awe, Cyprus peers down the corridor-like streets. Buildings stretch towards the sky so high, they seem to kiss the clouds. The sight makes the pony question their decision, a seed of unease taking root. Yet, Cyprus is resolute and finds themselves trotting down the bustling streets in search of employment. All around, a myriad of ponies and other creatures are engrossed in their daily routines, absorbed in the pulsating life of the cityscape. "How does everyone remain so calm under so many watchful eyes?" Cyprus wonders.

As they venture further, their confidence begins to waver. The road leads to a busy trading area teeming with goods and services, and beyond that, a bustling construction site. Musicians play vibrant tunes, the clinking of bits echoes from the marketplaces, and a vendor samples their own wares for quality assurance. It's a symphony of urban life.

But then, there's a sudden BOOM! Smoke billows from a nearby alley where a unicorn emerges, coughing and sputtering. A magic spell must've gone awry. At the same time, a group of Pegasi hang a banner in front of a hospital - a sight Cyprus hopes the unicorn won't need.

Overwhelmed by the smoky aftermath and the flurry of magical particles, Cyprus freezes. A paralyzing fear grips them; the world spins, their heart races, and their once solid confidence crumbles. All the fears they harbored about losing themselves in the chaos of social interactions are becoming a reality. Cyprus is left questioning, "Why am I here? Where do I go? Who am I?" in the midst of the bustling city.

Some animals, for example, cats, show affection through so-called friendly / love bites. These bites don’t hurt and don’t make you feel pain. I think it would be cute if Discord and Fluttershy showed affection to each other this way in my AU.

Shining Armor was told to be on higher alert while on duty today, but he was never given the reason why. Apparently the pony giving him the order didn't know either, only Celestia knew and all she would give out on information was to be on alert. So his usual routine was a touch more stressful, better than staying with his parents. Ever since his little sister became Celestia's personal student he was considered the other child, he doesn't blame his sister for their parents actions of course. At least he tries his hardest too. Apparently his mumbling to himself went heard as someone interrupts his deep thinking. A tall dark mare in glistening blue armor stood towering over him, she strangely looks familiar to him but he can't put his hoof on why. He doesn't feel afraid of her, although he is sure someone like Blueblood would be running in fear. She asks him about his self ranting, saying that she has felt similar feelings towards her own sister before. Shining Armor perks up at this and the two start venting to each other about their family lives and after a while just start chatting. Even though both were previously busy with their own jobs, they decided a break couldn't hurt. Shining Armor enjoys talking with this tall dark mare, he hasn't felt like he could truly vent to anyone about his parents and sister until meeting her. He appreciates someone who listens.

Nightmare Moon had just returned from her imprisonment, and she had planned to immediately go and crash Celestia's celebration. But she happened to run into the strangest pony mumbling to themselves, mumbling about feelings she knows all too well. He is unafraid of her, even with that smallest hint of recognition. Is he playing a game on her? After talking with him for what feels like hours, it's neither. He's just a bit stupid, in certain ways. He seems rather intelligent when it comes to magic and the art of protection, no wonder he was chosen to be the captain of the guard. But socially he stumbles and falls over but never fails to get back up with a smile on his face. She likes this idiot, she appreciates someone who actually listens to her venting and complaining.

This is Apple Butter, she’s one of Apple Jacks very distant relatives.

In my AU ponies of each race were made into Alicorns to help lead their respective people. Apple Butter was the mare chosen to lead the Earth ponies, she’s, as her name suggests, apart of the apple family.

I’m still figuring out a lot of her lore but I gave her an orange pelt and red mane.

The orange pelt is to make apple jacks color make sense and the red mane is a reference to bright mac.
