I love adjectives and other things that are named after ancient greek and roman figures. Herculean, "requiring great strength or effort". Sisyphean, "denoting or relating to a task that cannot be completed". those are the two examples I can think of. are there any other ones I don't know about?

edit: thought of another one. Icarian, typically relating to Icarus, but it can also be used in reference to something that is regarded as too ambitious.

Achilles Heel - a weakness or vulnerable point. Named after Achilles, an incredibly strong and courageous warrior whose only weak point was his heel (thanks for the contribution, edens-garden!)

Hadal/Hadal Point - a region of the ocean at or exceeding 20,000 feet (or 6,000 meters) in depth. Named after Hades, god of the underworld (thank you, typicalcommondandelion, for your contribution!)

tantalizing - tormenting or teasing with the sight or promise of something unobtainable. Named after Tantalus, who was punished for trying to serve his own son from the feast of the gods by being imprisoned in Tartarus under a fruit tree surrounded by a pool of water. Forever hungry and thirsty, the fruit was always too high for him to reach, and the water would always recede before he could drink (thanks for the addition cogcltrcorn!)

narcissistic - having an excessive or erotic interest in oneself and one's appearance. named after Narcissus, who fell in love with his own reflection (thanks to DrSquee on twitter for the addition!)

Erotic - arousing or satisfying sexual desires. named after Eros, the god of carnal love (another great addition by typicalcommondandelion)

@drsquee I’m now one hour into the movie, and, well... I have to say I liked the prison life more than the life Steven and Phillip have now. As much as Steven adores Phillip, he’s such a huge asshole for doing all these frauds. Phillip seems like the kind of guy who would be happy just having Steven, rich or poor. And I kind of get a creepy vibe from Steven, and to be honest, Phillip deserves someone so much better. Someone honest, who doesn’t go around his back in order to make him “happy”.

But yes, I didn’t realize until now just how freaking CUTE Ewan McGregor can be <3

Lol, I think I’ve said this before, but aside from conceiving his heir, Gavril is pretty much non-sexual and non-romantic.

Not sure if you're a fan, but may I recommend Higher Love by Depeche Mode for Bog singing about Marianne and much feels, especially in regards to this line within the song - "Heaven bound on the wings of love, there's so much that you can rise above. Moved, lifted higher..."

31/Dec  My gift to You

 "... I made you these" Whispered Sevy to you, as you two sat in your green-hued haven. He spent quite the time gathering these candy wrappers, the shiniest most glittering kind he could find. Some he waited patiently for, each week Mother gave him once— twice if she managed— a piece of candy. He didn't like some of what he chose, the color of the wrapper was more important than its flavor. Other pieces he kept a close eye on to gather. Disposed of by the kids he noted to spend their strolls around the block, eating through their armfuls of sweets. Sevy caught the wrappers they discarded before they even touched the ground. If they noticed, those kids gawk and giggle as the wrappers peculiarly floated away toward some bushes, in a time lacking the smallest gusts of wind. Sevy next gathered sticks, nice and slick. An easy enough task; not only because he spent so much time around trees and their shade, but it happened that he picked up on a habit of gnawing on them. So he knew where to find the best possible for use (and gnawing.)   His fingers quivering a little, he opened his palm,. A pack of glittering wrappers expanded after the pressure was gone, unmoving. Then suddenly, bursting with life, there they were, making faint sounds of flapping paper, flying out of his hand.  Magical butterflies formed a colorful spectrum, their wings made of candy wrappers. As they flutter, catching the dim glow and spreading such sweet aroma, your favorite one landed in your palm. 

Severus watched you intently, unblinking, his heart racing in his chest. But he sat quietly, anticipating your reaction. As your eyes met, color mounted his pale cheeks and his lips curved just enough to make a smile ...

    At the end of 2018, I must say I encountered a miracle, of getting to know the existence of Snape community, which lead to loosening my shyness a bit, working on a Snape themed calendar, meeting such wonderful souls, trying to do newer things and generally growing. I am much thankful. At the end of this year, I wish upon you wonderful people all the best- in each and every step you take, through 2019, through 10 years ahead, through each and every second on the way, that is life. 

This a gift for all in the Snape community and for everyone really. Hoping that you accept my well-wishes... and the stick with the candy wrapper Sevy offered, hehe.

I’m gonna be real with you though—I don’t have a whole lot of personal recs for goku/vegeta fics, partially because most of the stuff i binge-read was years ago, and it’s all kind of blurred together in my garbage memory. but some that immediately come to mind:

As Loyalty Can Be by kimmyjarl(and the lovely companion one-shot, A Taste of Salt)

Chains of Affection by Syldana(this was one of the first goku/vegeta stories I ever read and tbh it still Fucks Me Up)

I’m currently working through a bunch of older early-2000′s stuff (shout-out to @crystalklk aka the world’s greatest KAKAVEGE SUPER LIBRARIAN for rec’ing me so much content!!!!) but so far It Started on Sunday by Card and Deep by Xero Sky have really jumped out at me (although brace yourself for the Usual 2000s Fandom tropes such as Baffling Author’s Notes, songfic, and Completely Unnecessary Use of Random Japanese Words. god, what a time to be alive)

Nowhere by Felix McKraken. honestly, this is a real odd duck of a fic I can only describe as “Hey, you know what the DBZ fandom needs? House of Leaves, but, like, with Goku & Vegeta.” I read it years ago all in one shot during a frantic all-nighter, which I feel is clearly the best way to experience it. (as far as i know it’s unfinished though)
