Head canony

A before ascension version of Luna, her original talent having been finding the medicinal properties of different plants, especially flowers and herbs, and making them more potent in the form of enchanted tea. Her chamomile and lavender tea to help with sleep and prevent nightmares was her biggest seller. She also tried to make the medical teas taste good, but some of them were doomed to be that potent medicinal taste.

I can see multiple options for unicorn horns! Antlers make sense. They even grow Velvet that would probably be the same color as their fur. Unicorn horns in mlp fim could be Antlers that just usually never lose that Velvet unless injured. They could also be like rhino horns! Made of what the hooves are made of and what hair and fingernails are made of, keratin. This would also make since for color. And maybe if enough magic is used within their lifetime can bleach the natural color away from their horn. So alicorns would have white or clear horns!

There is also the possibility of unicorn and alicorn horns just being made of fantasy materials. Or things that shouldn't naturally be growing on equines because of fantasy logic. Like pearl horns, or diamond horns. I can see Celestia with a variety of stone or crystal horns. Obsidian would be neat because of the sun being somewhat related to lava kinda thing. But i like my Celestia's more fire/solar and flower themed. I like giving her Sunflower cutie marks!

Kinda head canony

An AU where multiple Pinkie Pie clones escaped from being returned to the mirror pool. After their encounter with Twilight Sparkle, they all realized that they are clones. And an undocumented thing about clones from the mirror pool is that once a clone becomes aware of being a clone, they start to become their own being. The many clones from the mirror pool changing slightly in color, old copied cutie marks lost, new destinies and accompanied cutie marks gained, and gaining their own personality throughout living their very own lives.

An AU where one of the other main six use the mirror pool instead of Pinkie Pie. What is their motivations? How did they find out about the mirror pool compared to Pinkie Pies prior knowledge of it, did they learn about it from her?

Four examples I can think of

Rarity: needs more hooves on a large project, a time limited project. And no one in town is skilled enough to help her. After asking around for advice, mainly twilight hoping to find a spell, she finds her answer surprisingly from Pinkie Pie. Pinkie Pie bringing up that if Rarity had more of herself the project would be done in no time, and bringing up the mirror pool off handedly. And while pinkie Pie just brings up the name of mirror pool, after some research in Twilight's library she finds the information she needs.

Rainbow Dash: wants to race herself. Over hears Pinkie Pie talking to herself about the mirror pool.

Applejack: basically the same as Rarity but farm work flavored instead of sewing. Big Mac has been injured and the farm would get done quicker with more hooves around. This would require her to get over her strong stubbornness about not needing outside help. Maybe she's convinced it's not outside help since it's a clone of herself.

Twilight Sparkle: ends up being very similar to Pinkie Pies dilemma. Can't hang out with all of her friends at once and Can't make a decision. So why not make more of herself? She finds out about the mirror pool while panic studying in the library. Maybe a clone even ends up going to an event in Canterlot to visit Celestia and Luna. And honestly it would probably go just as chaotic as Pinkie Pie. Lesson zero but there is a million Twilight Sparkles. Oh no!

An AU where Nightmare Moon and/or Luna was never sent to the moon by the elements of harmony, instead turned into a mortal, their memories wiped, and teleported far away from the scene of the fight where Celestia was now alone. Luna was never found by Celestia, when you're expecting an alicorn of the moon and find a unicorn astronomer you think you haven't found the right pony. Celestia was left to rule Equestria alone, while Luna found herself content in her new life and after a certain period of time no longer felt the need to search for her previous life. Celestia becoming a tad bitter and distant from her subjects over the thousand years. Until one day one of Luna's direct descendants has the strongest magical flare for a unicorn foal in modern Equestrian history, and Celestia can't help but realize the similarities between this small purple unicorn and her long lost sister.

Optional additions:

The Sparkle family are named after a direct ancestor, who was once Luna. Her full name was lost to time, but the name Sparkle has been passed down ever since.

Due to Luna being Nightmare Moon when the elements gave her anmesia, she has passed down not only her strong alicorn magic but also the darkness of Nightmare Moon. It is called a type of magical curse put on the family, every once in a while a Sparkle will fall into the leftover darkness that Nightmare Moon left behind. No one knows that it is the leftover darkness of Nightmare Moon however, thinking it to merely be a curse. There is no signs of if a Sparkle family member will or will not fall into the leftover darkness. The only common thing to happen is that it often happens when they have siblings or a sibling like relationship with someone.

You know I think if Pinkie Pie and Cadence swapped places it would be pretty seamless. Both have similar color pallets. Both have long names and prefer a shorter Nickname. Both like parties of different types, Cadence weddings, Pinkie Pie most celebrations with a lean towards entertainment. Both can represent different forms of love, Cadence romantic, Pinkie Pie platonic. Both have a strange relationship with rocks and crystals. Both are happy go lucky to different degrees.

If Pinkie Pie was the alicorn of love- she would be of platonic love, and help others with friendships and family relationships. (I think both would be of family love. Both deeply live their family) she would be the Crystal Empires new Empress, and I think her connection to the Crystal Empire would be more obvious due to her color graying and hair straightening due to certain emotions and magic overuse.

If Cadence was the element of laughter- I think she would also be a party planner with a huge lean on weddings and similar romantic events. She isn't opposed to doing a birthday party or large event that's not in her usual niche however. She is a Pie, so a very literal character swap in this case. She grew up on a rock farm like Pinkie did, and found it extremely depressing. I'm thinking that she got her cutie mark throwing her parents a little wedding party for the anniversary of their original wedding. She got the idea the same way, tge Rainboom.

I think AU Cadence would have similar chaotic tendencies as canon Pinkie Pie. Has a "sense", one of which tells her if someone has a crush and needs help working through the feelings, another one of which if someone just broke up or was widowed and needs comforting. She's not the best at baking, but she's really good at working with chocolate. She is of course obsessed with the colors pink and red and has so many heart shaped things. She has a huge snake as a pet.

An AU where there was once only one alicorn, the alicorn of the passage of time. One fateful day, during Discords brief period of chaos a thousand years ago, one of his acts of chaos was to split the alicorn in half. Now, there are two alicorns, Celestia of Day and Luna of Night. Now Discord was outnumbered, where the alicorn of time couldn't use the elements of harmony at full power by themselves; these two could team up and use them at their fullest strength. Discord wished for chaos and found his own downfall. But he still did get chaos, because the ponies of Equestria were split in half, those who wanted their original ruler back no matter the consequences and those that were thinking what their original ruler would have wanted. The alicorn of time would have been content to have heirs take their place, they wouldn't want to come back.

Optional additions-

Celestia and Luna both have conflicting feelings about how they came into existence. Is the alicorn of time their mother and Discord their father on technicalities? They didn't ask for this, why are so many being hostile towards them. Didn't they save them from eternal chaos, why are they so hostile? They prefer being in the Everfree forest as most don't like traversing it, makes a good place for privacy.

Celestia and Luna are closer than in canon due to how they are being treated, so Nightmare Moon is less likely to happen.

An AU where Alicorns are deities and they are often known to choose a mortal as their favorite in one way or another. An Alicorns chosen gets a longer lifespan, stronger magic, and often become important religious and political figures. Whether this is a good thing or not is up to the chosen one, for how are you supposed to react to a god forcefully holding you back from the afterlife, forcefully keeping you alive to stay with them forever.

Optional additions-

An alicorns chosen do have a great chance of ascension. This has happened before. Other mortals can ascend as well, Cadence is an example of a mortal ascension without being a chosen. Discord is an anomaly

Celestia had always promised herself that she wouldn't hold a mortal back from their peaceful rest like her and Luna's old friend Discord had done to them. But she met her student, the closest thing she can ever have to a daughter. It wouldn't hurt if she lived a little longer would it?

Discord was friends with Celestia and Luna when they were merely mortals. He as a god couldn't bare to see the only beings that treated him with any respect die. So he just wouldn't let them leave. Eventually he got to see them become deities in their own right. His current friend Fluttershy....she is different from those two. He couldn't bare to see her stay, she wouldn't survive eternity like he knew Celestia and Luna could. She deserves to rest.

Cadence is a recently ascended goddess, who is rather new to the concept of the whole thing. She was never told of consequences that may occur if she married her husband shining Armor. She didn't realize the consequences until she and him noticed that he wasn't aging anymore. And that Shining's sister Twilight Sparkle isn't aging either.

Twilight's ascension either doesn't happen or happens much much later. It certainly doesn't happen in the main shows time-line.

Shining Armor has a decent chance of ascension as well. Sometimes deities just ascend in sets. The Celestial sisters, and Twilight Sparkle and Shining Armor.

This is probably a common opinion. But Starlight Glimmer should have remained a villain. She would have been a better villain for the final than Cozy Glow. I do think Cozy Glow is a good character, and I like the idea of her becoming Starlight Glimmers student/sidekick. I think Cozy Glow would eventually be Reformed. But i like evil Starlight Glimmer. Maybe Starlight was pretending to be reformed during the Cozy Glow segment and offers to look after the kid and help her "learn about friendship"

Starlight Glimmer is instead going to teach Cozy how to evil even better
