𝐒𝐮𝐦𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐲: When the AIB women's s/o gets seriously injured in the games

Kuina Hikari:

- the moment she finds out you're hurt in some sort of way, any sort of way, really, she will immediately rush to your side and ask what happened before quickly helping you

- she probably wouldn't really know what to do if you're injured to the point you needed to recover and couldn't play games but she would be with you every step of the way

- she will do anything you ask of her when you're injured if you can't move a lot, food? she's got some for you within five minutes. need someone to just be there with you? she's comfortably situated next to you with her arm wrapped around you

- to be honest she would be mainly worried if you would be able to play a game again before your visa ran out

- but she would try her best to not show that she's worried, instead sticking by your side during your whole recovery and trying to lift your spirits by joking around with shit (like making fun of chishiya's height)

- if you were to pass out suddenly from the pain, kuina would freak the fuck out, not knowing what the hell to do and just trying to wake you up and make sure you're not dead

- to be honest if you didn't wake up after a few shakes, she would straight up just pick you up and take you to whoever knew medical stuff the most since she's blind in that area, hardly knowing how to patch herself up so how would she know how to help you when extremely hurt?

- kuina would have no clue what to do if you still hadn't woken up, starting to think that maybe you won't wake up from this and how guilty she felt for letting you go clear a game alone without her, she would definitely get down on herself about it

- but whenever you do wake up and she realizes you're not dead, she's immediately hugging you and apologizing about not really being helpful with this kind of stuff and how she loves you so much that she would be utterly broken without you

- you're one of her main reasons to get out of the borderlands, and if she were to lose you in these games, she would definitely go insane and just give up entirely, not seeing a point to survive without you there with her

- after you've recovered, kuina would not leave your side for anything. she will be hanging over you constantly to make sure nothing happens, lightly threatening people if she has to just so you don't get accidentally tossed into another game with idiots from the beach

Ann Rizuna:

- it's not often that ann freaks out over things, in fact, it rarely happens, unless it deals with you that is

- the moment you walked back to the room you shared with her at the beach, injured to the point you were hardly able to stand, she felt her heart stop at the sight of you

- she always told you not to go and complete games without her, worried that one day you wouldn't come back, but she didn't scold you like the other times she would, not when you were on the verge of passing out from pain

- ann wouldn't say much the first fifteen minutes or so of your injured arrival, trying to do whatever she could to help with her limited resources, demanding hatter that she needed practically everything from the medical supplies

- after a while, she would eventually speak up quietly once she had helped clean you up the best she could, "don't do that again."

- at first, you thought she was going to scold you again like the previous times, but instead she reached and grabbed ahold of your hands, "i don't want to lose you." she would say barely loud enough for you to hear

- ann was never the type to say things like that, only if the two of you were alone and she knew no one else could hear but it still wasn't often, but to hear it from her after coming back injured badly, you knew even if she doesn't say it, she did love and care about you

- if you passed out from the pain she would try her best to remain calm, telling herself that you'll wake up and everything will be fine, but it's noticeable by her tone with everyone else that she's far from calm about this

- she wouldn't join another game until she knew you had woken up and were okay, constantly checking on you and checking your pulse to make sure you're alive, always letting out a sigh of relief when she could feel your heart still beating

- the longer you don't wake up, the more worried she becomes to the point where she just stays hold up in the room with you, telling the other executives to not bother her until you do wake up, trying not to think the worst but it's difficult to when you're really the only person she cares about

- whenever you do wake up, she is extremely relieved that you're okay and makes sure you're able to recover fast enough before your visa runs out, trying to act normal but it's clear she had been freaking out when you weren't awake

- after you've recovered, ann becomes quite more protective of you and actually shows it more when around the others at the beach, not hesitating to speak up if someone suggests splitting people up for games and making sure to keep an eye on you when in games, not wanting a repeat of what happened

Usagi Yuzuha:

- the second usagi finds you or you find her and she sees how badly hurt you are, she's quickly rushing to your side and helping you sit down to rest

- you're the one thing she's living for now, so to see you injured badly enough where you could barely walk, she was extremely worried if you would recover before your visa expired

- so she would try and help you recover as fast as possible, making sure you eat and sleep enough, maybe raiding a pharmacy to get you medicine if it's there and cleaning whatever wounds you may have

- it really depends on how injured you are of how she will react and freak out, but for this case, it's pretty bad, so she freaks out easily whenever you're asleep for one minute too long or you're breathing becomes uneven, knowing without certain medical care you could possibly die

- that's why when you pass out, she freaks out more than ever, trying to do whatever she can to help you wake up and if nothing is working then she'll just try and calm down, try, it doesn't really work no matter how hard she tries

- usagi might try and get more food while you're unconscious so that way when you wake up you can eat something to hopefully help you though without pain meds it wouldn't be much work

- if she came back from getting food and you weren't awake still, she would then start to get worried if you even would wake up, trying to wake you in some way

- if she came back and you were already awake, she would be incredibly happy to see you moving, but would tell you to still rest and not move around a lot in case you accidentally hurt yourself more in some way

- usagi basically becomes like a mom when you're injured, telling you to rest, making sure you sleep enough and eat every day, and worry for you deeply

- she can't stand seeing you in pain which is why she tries to help you recover as fast as possible, sticking by your side in case something were to happen

- she wouldn't participate in any games while you recover, only going if that day was her last day but returning to you immediately after to make sure you're still okay

- if you had to complete a game either way, you're visa soon expiring, usagi would go with you and stay with you every second, not wanting you to get more hurt and hoping you don't get a spades game knowing it would make your recovery slower

- after you've recovered, she would make sure you don't go into games alone even if it isn't her just someone that you two knew would be enough, checking up on you and asking if you're okay and telling you to remember to rest even if you aren't injured

Kano Mira:

- much like ann, mira is not one to freak out over many things, if not everything, so don't expect her to lose her cool if you come to her injured

- of course, she can't tell you that eventually you will have to face her in her own game, so she will act concerned about you, but she does want you to live

- so the moment you find her, wherever the hell she is, part of her is feigning concern while another small part is being genuine about being worried for you, asking what happened and if you're okay even if you're obviously not

- mira isn't one to feel very guilty or scold people, so don't assume she will feel bad about letting you complete games alone, she doesn't really care, if you die, she might be upset for a minute, but will go back to normal soon

- but that doesn't mean she doesn't care about you at least a little bit, she does, she just shows it in odder ways than normal people would

- she might end up making you become dependent on her, saying how you shouldn't join games without her or one of the executives with you because she would be "heartbroken" if you ended up dying in one of the games

- mira wants you to live, of course, but for that to happen it would mean that she has to die, and she often has inner battles with herself on what to do at times like that when you come back severely injured to the point of passing out, but she always falls back to trying to spend her time with you as best as she could

- does she love you? it's unclear at times, but if you pass out from pain, then you might realize she does, even if it's just a little bit, she does by how she reacts when you do lose consciousness

- her eyes would go wide when your eyes close and you aren't responding anymore, taking you to one of the rooms in the beach and setting you on the bed before sitting next to you trying not to freak out

- mira doesn't have to compete in games anyways technically, so she would end up staying with you while you're unconscious, leaving every now and then to talk with the other executives or kuzuryu

- whenever you wake up, mira most likely isn't there. whether it's because she's doing executive matters or the second stage has started, she probably won't be there but she will find you immediately after she's done doing whatever she's doing unless the second stage started, then you might never see her again

- if you awoke when the second stage started, she might've written a short note of sorts saying how no matter what happens she wants you to live and that one day, she will see you again, just maybe not when you're living

- if you woke up before the second stage, then mira would find you and be so relieved that you're alright and that you weren't dead, even if it seems like she's faking it, she's not

Heiya Akane:

- the king of spades wasn't a very fun game, not when at any moment you could be shot down, like this moment where the worst possible case did happen, you getting shot

- the second you hit the ground akane is freaking out, blood quickly soaking the ground beneath you with her frantically trying to figure out what to do

- just the thought of losing you was enough to get her to cry, so actually seeing you get shot definitely caused her to tear up, but not cry just yet

- she didn't bother trying to fight the king of spades after you got shot, instead grabbing you and dragging you the best she could to safety and hiding in a building with you

- "you fucking idiot! what the hell were you trying to do?!" akane would say to you, quickly ripping off a piece of your shirt and pressing down on the wound

- "it's alright." you try to say before she just shakes her head and continuing to put pressure on the gunshot wound

- "this is far from alright and you know it." she whispered quietly, tears silently starting to fall, "i don't- i can't lose you, not like this."

- to be honest, nothing you say would help reassure her. sure, you might not die from this bullet, but it was a big enough chance she didn't want to take, besides, aguni would be fine killing the king of spades alone, you both knew that

- if you end up passing out from the gunshot...she freaks out more, shaking you and repeating your name trying to wake you up while crying at the same time and still hiding

- eventually aguni finds you both and just kinda stares for a second before sighing and picking you up and taking you back to where you three had made a little camp area

- akane doesn't have a clue what to do with things like this, for one, you're the only person she genuinely cares about and wants to survive, two, she didn't pay attention in health class a lot and so she didn't know how to help, and three, if you were to die then she would give up on it all

- she doesn't leave your side the whole time, just sitting next to you silently as aguni tried to get food and kill the king of spades at the same time so she could watch you in case you woke up or the king arrived, probably talking to you as if you could hear her about random bullshit

- when you do wake up, she ends up crying again because she honestly thought you were going to die without the right medical attention, hugging you tightly and muttering "don't do that shit again." but still crying

- after you've recovered, akane is not leaving your side for one second, it doesn't matter. the thought of you dying or leaving her in some way honestly haunts her daily in the borderlands so she's become a little personal bodyguard for you, how fun

❀When you first get together, Mira would likely want to keep your relationship a little more quiet, at least for anyone outside the guild. It’s inevitable that the news would get out amongst your guildmates, but when it comes to the public eye, she doesn't want it spreading too fast. This is to keep you from having any trouble more so than anything else. She’s a famous model and extremely popular wizard, and she probably has more than her fair share of crazy overly obsessive fans that would be filled with jealous rage over the news. She fully believes you can handle yourself, but she sees this as something she can do to take care of you even when she's in a physically weakened state. Her form of protectiveness is unique, but it shows that she cares.

❀Get ready to have the entire Fairy Tail guild ready to throw hands with you at a moment's notice if you ever upset her in any way. Even so, for as overprotective as they can be, they're all very glad to see her as happy as she is anytime you're around.

❀Mira is very very sweet, and overall just an amazing person to spend time with. She never runs out of stories, jokes, or things to talk about, so no matter what you're doing, you’ll definitely never have to worry about getting bored. You can't count the amount of times you've spent entire days hanging out with her behind the guild's bar just serving drinks, helping clean up, and chatting about whatever topics first came to mind. If you're not a very talkative or chatty person, she doesn't mind in the slightest. She would never force you to carry on a conversation, but you should be prepared to do a lot of listening. In her mind, a one sided conversation is still an exciting and wonderful conversation if it's you she's getting to talk to.

❀She loves having you help her in the bar and around the guild hall. If not for the conversation, then just for the help and company. She loves the job she does for the guild, and it never lacks as a source of entertainment with all the shenanigans that occur, but whether she admits it or not, It would definitely get stressful sometimes. Having even just a little bit of help takes a lot of weight off her shoulders. Plus, getting the work done faster just means all the more time off to spend together outside of the guild hall.

❀She's not one for super elaborate dates. She doesn't mind going out to nice places or having planned activities, but some of her favorite time spent with you is when you can just take some time to relax together. She loves at home dates, just eating home cooked meals, chatting about your days, and resting after a long day of work. When you do feel like getting out of the house, she really enjoys quiet late night walks.

❀More often than not, whenever you do have the chance to have a meal at home, her siblings will join you. Elfman and Lisanna both look up to you a lot, and really enjoy your company, though they probably wouldn't admit it out loud for the sake of keeping up the tough protective siblings act. From the start though, you became such close friends with both of them that you're already practically part of the family. They’re hoping to keep you around for a long time, and definitely run your secret ship fan club.

❀Mira really likes letting you style her hair for her. It's very relaxing both before heading out into the chaos of a new morning, and afterwards to help wind down from the excitement of the day. One of her favorite things to do is lay with her head in your lap and let you just play with her hair however you want. She has definitely accidentally fallen asleep like this a few times. She also loves this in the reverse. Whether you have long hair, or short, she just likes playing with it, running her fingers through it, or even just resting her hand on your head.

❀She has a very playful side to her, and you’d be surprised by the amount of pranks you'll have to deal with on a day to day basis. A particular favorite anytime she wakes up before you once you're living together is changing into either one of your guildmates, or some other friend or acquaintance of yours, and waiting watchfully for you to wake up. Almost every time, you end up waking up to the sound of her being unable to muffle her own giggles, and almost every time, you still end up falling out of bed in tired baffled confusion. She always apologizes and checks in to make sure you're alright after though and then makes you breakfast to make up for it. At least every once in a while, she'll ask you for help with jokes or pranks on other guild members. Sure you get into trouble, but nobody can stay very mad at the two of you for long.

❀She likes having your company when it comes to performances and photoshoots. If you can sing or play an instrument, she would be absolutely thrilled to have you up on stage with her when she's performing at the guild or city events. Even if you can't, just being able to see you at the front of the crowd or backstage behind the curtains gives her a big energy and confidence boost. When it comes to photoshoots, she just likes being able to see you nearby while she's doing them. While it's one of her jobs and you've never had any problem with it, she has some very showy shoots sometimes, and now that you're together, she just feels a lot better and more comfortable with those particular types of shoots when you're around to keep an eye on things and cheer her on.

❀A relationship with Mira is signing yourself up for a serotonin overload. Not a day will go by that she doesn't make sure she's gotten a good deal of smiles and giggles out of you. Seeing you happy makes her happy, and vice versa. She's very affectionate and loving, and generally just a very positive person to be around. You're never going to have to feel lonely with her around. You get an amazing sunshine girlfriend, two caring and supportive siblings, and the whole guild family backing you both up to boot.

𖤓For starters, Erza is definitely the most quiet about your relationship of these three. She prefers to keep your relationship less public, not for lack of loving you, but actually quite the opposite. While she definitely doesn't mind those close to you knowing that you're together, announcing every little detail of your relationship for the world to hear makes it feel much less intimate to her. She believes that your love is something that should be shared between the two of you, so even if it's no secret that you're in a relationship, she's not one to go parading information or bragging about it.

𖤓Despite this, she actually has no problem with simple acts of PDA as long as they're not too intimate. While she's far from being the type to go clinging to you in public, she actually quite enjoys having physical contact with you while out and about. Holding hands, linking arms, resting her head on your shoulder or vice versa while seated, or simple kisses on the cheek are some of her favorite things, though she may not admit it out loud.

𖤓Erza’s also definitely not one to go hopping from relationship to relationship. With her past, she’s not letting herself become 100% emotionally invested in any one person unless she can truly trust them to stay by her side and return those emotions and trust. If you’ve managed to work your way into her heart, you can expect to be there for a long, long time. Even with the unpredictable lives you live, she has no fear in saying you're someone she would like to spend her whole life with.

𖤓Especially at the start of your relationship, Erza won't be one for talking about feelings much. She thinks verbal affection and communication are extremely important, but would shy away from deeper emotional conversation by instinct. Especially with any questions regarding how she grew up, she initially waves them off and avoids the topic whenever possible. She trusts you immensely, but she feels that the emotions of her past are hers to bear, and feels a lot of guilt about letting that weight fall onto others.

𖤓Further into your relationship, however, she feels much more comfortable allowing herself to be vulnerable around you. Be it physically or emotionally, she trusts you to see her and lend her support in her weakest moments. This goes both ways, as well. Just as you're there for her, she'll be there to lift and support you through the hardest of times with unwavering devotion.

𖤓She thinks communication is one of the most important things in a relationship, so you rarely have to deal with any conflicts between the two of you lasting very long. In the case of any disagreements, while she isn't opposed to giving you your space when you need and want it, she thinks the best thing to do can be to just stay in each other's company in silence until you're both ready to talk through the problem.

𖤓Her love languages are definitely quality time and words of affirmation

𖤓She has a lot of somewhat unusual hobbies and passions. She'll pick up almost any activity that strikes her interest at any point in time, and nothing brings her more joy than seeing you express interest in those same things, even if just to humor her. You support and invest time in her odd endeavors, and in return she's happy to try out any hobbies and interests you pick up as well.

𖤓She places a lot of value in the time she spends with you, and therefore likes to spend as much time as she's able to with you. She enjoys having you tag along on jobs with her, be those solo jobs or with the rest of the team. Whether you're a strong fighter or not, your support is extremely meaningful to her especially in tough situations. When you're unable to tag along on jobs with her, especially if they're longer ones, she enjoys writing you letters or sending you back souvenirs.

𖤓Expect to have a LOT of dates out to cafes or bakeries. If you are a fellow enjoyer of strawberry cake, be glad that you are one of very few people she would allow to share her cakes with her. If you are not, that just means more for her, but you'll be sitting around for a while waiting for her to finish. If you can bake those cakes yourself, oh boy be ready because there's definitely no way you're ever getting rid of her now (though you're insane if you’d even want to).

𖤓The rest of the guild has a tendency to hide behind you and rely on you pretty heavily to calm her down in some of her scarier moments. She has a hard time saying no to you, so you're definitely the person to go to for anyone trying to escape her wrath for any given reason. That being said, sometimes if they really deserve it, it's best to just let her dish out punishments unless you want to be dragged into them too.

𖤓All in all, while Erza has her more intimidating moments, she can be an extremely gentle and caring lover. She can be a lot of fun to be around, be that at home, at the guild, out traveling, or on jobs, you'll definitely never be bored in her company. Every day is going to be an adventure with her, but you're going to get your fair share of love in return for putting up with the shenanigans that seem to follow her wherever she goes. Being in a relationship with her is not something for the faint hearted, but it’s undeniably well worth the trouble.

★Juvia is by far the most open about your relationship. If someone around you doesn't know you two are together, they definitely will by the time you've left. She doesn't mean to overshare or brag, she just finds a lot of joy in expressing her love for you and making sure everyone she comes across knows how much she cares. She also feels a certain sense of security in being able to say that after so long of being alone, she has someone who loves her just as much.

★She can be extremely insecure about both herself and your relationship, and tends to need a lot of verbal affirmation to keep her from getting into her own head. She was bullied so often as a child that it's very easy for her mind to spiral to dark places. However, having you around always helps clear away some of that gloom, especially if you are willing to help talk her through whatever may be bothering her at any given point in time. Most of her doubt comes from herself rather than from anything you do, so giving her compliments or pointing out things she does well is always a huge help.

★This goes for jealousy as well. We've all seen how she can be when she feels like something may be threatening your relationship. She can be extremely protective and over reactive about anyone else spending too much time around you. While it will take her quite a while to get used to getting along with your friends without feeling threatened, she'll come around a lot faster with extra reassurance that that's all they are. ★Another of Juvia's love languages and one of her favorite things in the world is gift giving. Sometimes her gifts can be a bit on the odd side, but she just enjoys giving you tangible tokens of her appreciation. She'll make you meals at home or pack you some if you have to go out for the day, bring you home trinkets or objects that she says reminded her of you, or make little craft projects to give you for special occasions. Reciprocating this and giving her gifts in return may cause her brain to short circuit. She never gives you gifts with the intention of having the favor returned, so when you show up with any gifts for her, it always surprises her and brightens her entire day.

★Adding to the note of her love for making meals for you, she's surprisingly a very good cook. She can make a bit of a mess in the kitchen sometimes when she’s scrambling to decide what to make or frantically get meals ready to surprise you with, but even when it's a bit messy, everything tastes amazing. ★She is also huge on physical affection. She's not always the most composed or best with words, so she'd much rather express her feelings through physical touch. Wherever you go, she always wants to be holding hands, clinging to your arm, hugging, snuggling, or just having some form of physical contact with you. In private, this is even more true. Hopefully you enjoy snuggles and kisses, because you're probably going to be smothered in them. Nothing makes her happier after a long day than coming home to curl up and fall asleep in your arms.

★Juvia enjoys dates that take place outdoors. Now that she's able to enjoy sunlight, she likes to do so as often as possible, and it's all the better if she's enjoying it with you. You'll be eating at lots of outdoor restaurants and cafes, taking walks in the park, having picnics, and cloud gazing.

★Juvia also really likes training with you. She'll take it easy on you of course if you're not all that strong. She doesn't want to hurt you, but your presence motivates her to work harder and makes her even stronger, so especially sparring against you, she has a lot more confidence in herself. Same goes for cases where she's training with or sparring against others. If you're watching, it's like a massive strength boost for her. She tries to go on long rants about how the power of love gives her strength, but everyone knows she's actually just extremely determined to show off and look cool in front of you.

★It can be a handful getting her to prioritize herself every now and then, especially if you're hurt or in any danger. Juvia would put her happiness, health, and even life on the line for you without question, so you may have to put a lot of effort into getting her to actually take care of herself as well. Making it a sort of trade off is a good way to start with her. Take care of her the way she takes care of you, and over time it will help her to recognize her own value and importance. This still probably wouldn't stop her from throwing herself in harm's way if it came down to protecting you, but she can be much better at rationalizing situations where you're in any sort of trouble now.

★While she has her many ups and downs, Juvia is overall very sweet and loving especially when you're willing to put in the effort to show her you care. Even though she can seem overbearing at times from outside perspectives, she just wants to show you how deeply she cares about you, and returning that deep love and devotion is one of the best ways to put her more at ease and calm her down. Many people may not quite understand or view your relationship as normal, but you boost each other up and give each other strength both physically, mentally, and emotionally, and that's all you could ever ask for in a partner.

ive been in a mira kano mood recently so… maybe a mira drabble? with a sick reader that she’s taking care of?

This was such a nice thing to write, got me in my feelings, thank you 🥹💖

Also I wrote this in like 10 minutes so be kind lol

Mira could hear you coughing even before she entered your shared room. You had been like this for almost a week now, and it was starting to scare her. Even if you weren’t in the Borderlands, the feverish and weak state you were in was still a cause for concern. How could she be sure that you wouldn’t die in some random game?

“Hey, sweetheart,” she greeted, a soft smile on her lips as she approached your side of the bed. “How’re you feeling?”

You coughed in response, opening your eyes to send her a tired smile. Mira couldn’t stop herself from noticing how sick you looked, from your clammy skin to your bloodshot eyes and runny nose. It pained her to see you in such a state.

“M’fine,” you muttered, moving to sit up against the pillows as you noticed the bowl of soup in her hands. “Is that chicken soup?”

“Your favorite,” Mira answered as she set the steaming bowl on the bedside table before helping you recline comfortably against your pillows.

“Too bad I can’t taste it,” you said with a weak chuckle as you leaned back, eyes closing and shoulders sagging like that simple movement was a herculean task.

“You still need to eat.”

Mira grabbed the bowl again, blowing a little on it before bringing a spoonful of soup to your waiting mouth. You swallowed the warm broth, wincing as it hurt your sore throat. For a few minutes, you just enjoyed each other’s presence as you ate, your hand on Mira’s thigh as she fed you until the bowl was empty.

“You know, I-” you murmured, followed by a cough that shook your whole body. Mira brushed your back until you stopped, handing you a glass of water that you swallowed like you hadn’t had a drink in months. Then you looked her in the eyes, sighing as you started again, “It’s at times like this that I miss home.”

Mira tried to ignore the pain that those words caused her. You had stayed in the Borderlands for her, and she was well aware of that. But when you said those words, in circumstances like this… that’s when she wished she could change things.

“Being with you is enough, but… I miss our apartment. I miss cooking for you, and I miss our plants, and I miss our cat and our routine and I just…” you were rambling now. Mira said nothing, just listening as you went on and on down memory lane. Then you paused, whispering “…I miss our life together as it was,” before falling asleep.

“I miss it too,” Mira whispered as she combed your sweaty hair out of your forehead before pressing a kiss against your hot skin. “I’m sorry, sweetheart.”

a/n: i used the king of hearts game in the netflix (with some info from the wiki) for this! mira and the reader are both players here. hope this is alright ヽ(>∀<☆)ノ

"they just died, mira! just like that! and there was nothing i could do to save them.."

you paced back and forth, biting your fingers in a futile attempt to calm down. hot tears were still making tracks down your face, a reminder of the recent king of hearts game. a swirl of emotions occupied your every thought, leaving you unable to think about anything other than the game. you'd cleared it safely, but the same couldn't be said for the players with you. the 13 visa days you'd been granted certainly didn't feel worth it.

in contrast, the woman opposite you was unexplainably calm. but to be perfectly honest, you'd never seen mira lose her cool, not even when you two were in more difficult and distressing games together. it was...comforting, you thought. seeing her calm in situations where the other players were panicking and making desperate attempts to save themselves.

but at the same time, it was chillingly scary how unfazed your girlfriend was. you'd witnessed first hand, many times, how she was undisturbed by the deaths of fellow players in the borderlands. sometimes, you wondered whether she would have a similar reaction to your death, if that moment ever came.

but in moments like this, you think that no, she wouldn't. because mira is your girlfriend after all. and she does care about you as both a fellow player and her partner. as she gently puts her arms around you, facial expression remaining ever so calm, you clung to her desperately. you hadn't realized how starved you were for some comfort, how much hope and mental energy the game had sucked out of you.

"i know how kind you are. how you want to save everyone. but it wasn't your fault that they died in the most difficult hearts game." she spoke into your shoulder softly, reaching to take your hand.

"i could've done something though! it feels wrong that i'm the only one who survived.."

your tone had changed from angry to horribly, sadly upset. now, the full force of what had happened hit you.

"don't cry. you'll get through this, my love. there's no use in sobbing over events that you have no way of changing." mira moved back to face you, your hand gripping onto hers desperately. it was comforting, the gentle tone in which she spoke. and your tears were slowly dissipating, lowering in intensity.

obviously, your heart still ached with the pain of witnessing those you'd become friends with die. and the ones who were strangers to you, too. but for now, you could be a little happier with the presence of mira, who eased you through the suffering in an endlessly calm and loving way.

Mira x Reader: New on the Block

Trigger Warnings: None, all fluff!

Being invited to Team Rainbow, the world’s most prestigious anti-terrorist organization, was a big shock to you. You didn’t know it was even possible for your efforts as a dorky combat medic with a degree in engineering would even get you this far, but you were glad you were able to even get the opportunity. You also may or may not have gotten in due to a good word given by a good friend of yours. Santiago Lucero, Argentina’s stickiest little thief. If it weren’t for that one time you bumped into him after he got a serious injury while stationed in Argentina, you would have probably never gotten considered in the first place.

As was mandatory upon joining, a psychological report was made for you, and you found that Harry was much kinder than you were told. You found yourself recounting your life, and were found to deem a perfect fit for Rainbow’s line of medics. You thanked him for his consideration and invitation of you, then made your way to the R&D facility you needed to go to to have your gadget evaluation. You were to meet Elena Álvarez, the woman in charge of R&D while also being a skilled operator, and you couldn’t lie, you were a bit excited. You’d heard much about her from your letters with Santiago, and you couldn’t wait to get to know her better.

Once you got to R&D, you stepped inside and went to the first person you saw to ask where Elena was. Tapping her shoulder carefully, the woman you had approached turned around with a mildly startled expression on her face. “Oh- I’m so sorry, I didn’t mean to startle you. I just wanted to ask you a question and everyone is moving around a bit too fast.” you apologize sheepishly. “Oh, it’s okay. What can I help you with then?” the woman asked. “I’m looking for Doctor Álvarez? I’m Rainbows newest recruit and I was scheduled for a gadget evaluation after my meeting with Harry.” you say. Giving you a sharp gasp, the woman then looked down at you holding your gadget before swiftly taking you over to one of the benches. She was speaking in rapid Spanish, as if she had just remembered something she forgot, before clearing her throat and sighing. “I’m so sorry if the way I looked and responded to you was rude. You can call me Elena, Doctor Álvarez is a bit too formal for me when other operators use it to address me.” She apologized.

Your eyes went wide, heart seemingly skipping a beat as you realized you had actually found her without even trying. She was even lovelier in person, and her voice was firm yet gentle at the same time. “It’s okay! Honestly, it was a bit justified for you to speak to me like that. You hadn’t met me before, and I just kinda walked up to you like some idiot.” you say, laughing softly. “Well, let’s go ahead and have that gadget evaluation. Just put it onto the workbench and talk me through the schematics and way it works.” Elena said. You nod, putting your device onto the workbench and got straight to the evaluation alongside her.

As you explained to her the schematics and how it works, Elena just seemingly couldn’t keep her eyes of you. You were clearly passionate about your work as a medic, and seemingly a damn good engineer with the device you crafted with your time in the military, and she loved that about people. Especially ones who were able to match her creativity when it came to new discoveries like you did. You didn’t get off topic like a few other operators had, and even showed her specifically what made it work. She was in absolute awe with you, and she wanted to learn more. “Now then, you think it needs any improvements?” you ask excitedly.

Elena snapped out of her thoughts and nodded, “If you wanted, we could possibly have it recharge faster if you change up a few of the wirings. We’ll test it, of course, so don’t be worried if we accidentally mess it up. But surely, knowing how good you crafted this, it doesn’t need too drastic of a change if you don’t want to.” she said. “I’m definitely okay with doing what you said. I’ve heard a lot about you, you know. I trust you completely with my devices and…I hope I can get to work more alongside you and see what else we could come up with together.” you say, suggesting that you had an interest in her. Elena’s face practically went red as she flustered, and she quickly looked back down at your gadget. She carefully switched some wiring around before closing it back up and reassembling it, before she then left you to a testing dummy. “So since it practically works as a mobile defibrillator as well as a vitals stabilizer, we’ll test it here.” she said.

You nodded and watched as she optimized some settings on the dummy to simulate that it was dead and needed to be revived. She gave you the all clear and you activated your gadget. It swiftly went to work, charging itself as it climbed right over the dummy’s “heart” before utilizing its first attempt to revive it. You were surprised to see that it recharged much faster now, thanks to her recommendation, and you couldn’t help but clap your hands happily. Soon enough, the dummy was revived. “Elena, you’re just as good, if not better, than what Santiago told me. You and I are going to get along just fine.” you say, giving her a handshake before pulling her into a tight hug.

Though she was a bit shocked at the sudden embrace, Elena couldn’t help but reciprocate it. “Oh no, you and I are most certainly going to get along. I could always use another hand here at R&D, so maybe I’ll get Harry to have you move here with us at some point when you’re not busy with the current operation.” she said. You then pulled away and gave her a warm smile, visibly flustering now, “Like I said, I’d be delighted to work alongside you. Thank you for your improvements, that was absolutely wonderful. And it didn’t fizzle! Gods, why didn’t I think of rewiring it the way you did!?” you joke, causing the both of you to laugh. Once your laughter died down, Elena gave you a much softer smile, “Well then, I hope to see you again once you’re back. Do good on your operation, okay?” she said, handing back your gadget. You give her a nod and a look of confidence, before getting out of R&D and meeting up with the operators you were assigned to work with. The both of you were much more hopeful now that you found mutual compatibility through engineering and improvements.

And maybe, just maybe, hopeful that things would work out smoothly between each other to where you could possibly sneak in a good friendship and relationship sometime down the line.
