As you've asked for asks!:
Do you have any quick-and-dirty book/fic binding methods a terrified-of-failure novice could use to bang something out to get over the first collywobbling step of Actually Doing The Thing? (this may be something I've been meaning to ask for ages)
yes! I absolutely do! in my opinion the best quick-and-dirty bookbinding method is a no-glue pamphlet: you don't have to mess with glue or measuring or cutting anything, all you need is your text, some paper, a needle and thread. you can use the same needle to punch holes if you don't have an awl.
this is going to be a little long but that's because I'm going to write out some fairly detailed instructions for an A5 sized pamphlet. If you don't want detailed instructions and think you can glean the necessary info from photos, just skip to the photos! I've also linked tutorials.
for preparing the text to printing, in whatever software you use (word, libreoffice, gdocs, whatever) make sure your document is set to page size A5. make it look readable. then save as/export that document as a straight-paged PDF. now go to the bookbinder JS tool (https://momijizukamori.github.io/bookbinder-js/), and upload the PDF. source manipulation: none printer paper size: A4 display unit (you can ignore, or choose cm if it gives you anxiety that it automatically displays points) printer type: select single-sided or duplex accordingly* rotate paper: ignore flip on long side: check if you are printing duplex and if your duplex printer flips the paper on the long side page layout:  tick folio page scaling: original page positioning: centered ignore the rest flyfleaf: ignore signature format tick: standard signatures. in the length drop down, this depends on the type of pamphlet you are doing. for folio i generally find 4-5 pages per signature a comfortable thickness. if you have 6 whole A4 pages you can still do that as a single signature or you can split it into two signatures 3 pages each. wacky small layouts: ignore this signature info click the generate preview button to see what your PDF looks like imposed! I love this step especially when I'm doing quarto (A6) or octavo (A7) sized books generate output - click this to generate an imposed PDF
for A6 and A7 sized books the instructions are much the same, except for these you make sure the page size is A6 or A7 in your software, and then you choose quarto or octavo instead of folio. for signature length drop down I keep signature length to 1 for octavos typically and 2 for quartos, as this still refers to sheets of paper, and for octavo 1 sheet of A4 paper will turn into 4 smaller sheets in one signature once folded and cut.
*if you don't have a duplex printer you will have to manually turn the paper to print on the other side. I cannot be arsed with this so I bought a printer capable of duplex printing (I didn't have a printer anyway). if you already have a printer check what it can do as you might be surprised and go from there.
now to the pamphlets! you don't need a cover - I have one for the long stitch pamphlet but for the saddle stitch one I didn't bother and just made sure the first page had a title on it. you can always take a different piece of paper and print a cover on or or just use coloured cardstock and create a simple cover, but a cover is not necessary unless you're doing a long stitch pamphlet. all you need to do is to punch holes and start sewing. there are a few different stitch types below, I wouldn't say any of them are more difficult or easier than others, but they do look different so...pick one you like the look of and go from there?
Tumblr media
pamphlet stitch (uneven number of holes) I haven't ever done a pamphlet stitch but here's a tutorial for how to do it: https://www.starpointestudio.com/simple-pamphlet-stitch-book-step-by-step/
saddle stitch (uneven number of holes) I realised that what I was thinking of as a pamphlet stitch is actually saddle stitch, as in this A7 pamphlet:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
here's a tutorial for how to sew saddle stitch: https://www.bookbindingworkshopsg.com/saddle-stitch-bookbinding-tutorial/ here's a video tutorial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aWHkY5jOoqM (sealemon has a lot of bookbinding tutorials and I know many people who like her videos, I used her tutorial for coptic binding way back when I first made a book but I can't otherwise vouch for the quality as I haven't used her videos)
french link stitch (even number of holes) in this one I used french link stitch which I typically use for thicker textblocks that i'm not planning to use tapes with as the french link gives it some robustness, I used it here because I had never done it before and wanted to try it out. I am planning to take these stitches out and re-sew this pamphlet with a cover now that I've found a suitable piece of transformer fanart to use as a cover:
Tumblr media
french link tutorial. it's quite long but it has a colour coded bit towards the end that shows how the thread is supposed to link which i find very helpful to visualise: https://www.handmadebooksandjournals.com/bindings/french-link-stitch-binding/
here's a video tutoral from DAS bookbinding (he is my go to for techniques and he has the most soothing Australian accent as well, though fair warning not all of his videos are for beginners): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O4ZPdbaM-Ws
long stitch (even number of holes) for this one I used long stitch and I had a cover. this one is my favourite variation because I can make these pretty and simple covers and the stitch looks nice on the outside as well, so this one scratches the 'i want to make a book' itch for me.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
here's a tutorial that also includes a how to on a cover that is different from my cover: https://lccprintmaking.myblog.arts.ac.uk/files/2020/06/Long-Stitch-Tutorial-A4.pdf DAS also has a video tutorial for long stitch but it's like three videos long, maybe watch it later :'D  here's one I haven't watched but seems decent: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XnignTL_wDQ
you can use saddle stitch for this kind of pamphlet as well, that's what I did for dozens of ships and hundreds of souls (https://ashmouthbooks.tumblr.com/post/681587080267202560).
I hope this helped!!

Since I received a message today asking for some recs, I figured I might as well do a revamp of my big long buddie fic rec list that I did ages ago. There are over 200 fics on this list and I’m adding more even now. Fics are sorted by word count.
Enjoy and please show the authors some love if you read these fics!
Here is an alternate list with links since the length of the post won’t allow them.

Sterek Fic Recs PART7 <333
i cannot believe i have read enough sterek fic to be able to make a part 7?!?! It's been over a year and between work and my social life all i do is read, read, read! (special fic recs for @singer7777 at the bottom) well here it is, sterek fic recs part 7, LETS GO
(ps. this is a long post so buckle in)
1. This Might Be Irony by thepsychicclam
38K Words // Chapters: 1/1 // Hits: 190K // COMPLETED
//MATURE//
Stiles and Derek have been close friends since the Hale siblings moved in next door after their parents' death. But Derek's in the popular group, he's a star baseball player, and he dates popular Pep Squad captain Jennifer Blake. Stiles doesn't have any of that, just his skateboard and a hopeless crush on Derek (oh yeah, and his Vote Lydia Martin Prom Queen button). As prom and the baseball state championship grow closer, Stiles and Derek start rekindling their friendship. And it all begins with two white boards.
2. But Then What... by Stoney
24K Words // Chapters: 3/3 // Hits: 182K // COMPLETED
//EXPLICIT//
Senior year is almost over, and all Stiles needs to do is keep his head down to survive. A teacher calls in a favor, leaving him stuck tutoring Derek Hale, one of the most popular jocks in school and a member of a group of douchecanoes who have bullied Stiles for years. He's someone Stiles totally hates. Totally. Like, doesn't like him even a little bit. DEFINITELY isn't attracted to him. Except that is a total lie. Fuck his life, seriously.
3. When You're Close I Feel the Sparks by Leslie_Knope
39K Words // Chapters: 4/4 // Hits: 156K // COMPLETED
//MATURE//
The guy is hot as hell, sure—leather jacket and glasses, Jesus, be still Stiles' poor, bisexual, beating heart—but more importantly, it must really suck being new on the first day of senior year. “We’re adopting him,” he decides, tugging Scott and Kira by the elbow in that direction. “Let’s go.”
4. What To Expect When You're Expecting (A Litter of Sourwolf Puppies) by Brego_Mellon_Nin
17K Words // Chapters: 1/1 // Hits: 176K // COMPLETED
//EXPLICIT//
The Sheriff sighs and plops down in a chair opposite his son. “Stiles, I’m going crazy here. We need to get you to a doctor. You sleep like you’re trying to get into the Guinness Book of World Records, and your eating habits are bizarre! You vomit around the clock and for some reason only the tea your mother used when she was pregnant will get your stomach to settle down for any length of time. Is there something you aren’t telling me? Can werewolves get guys pregnant? I’ve noticed how you look at that Hale kid-” Stiles meeps and flails, sloshing tea down his front. Luckily it’s not scalding anymore, but still hot, so he jumps up and wrenches his shirt off. “God, dad, no! Guys can’t get pregnant, that’s ridiculous, it’s like...” “Like werewolves being real?” his dad questions, deadpan.
5. More Than Biology by DiscontentedWinter
45K Words // Chapters: 13/13 // Hits: 60K // COMPLETED
//EXPLICIT//
Stiles is a teenaged, unmated omega whose sixteenth birthday is fast approaching. Derek is the beta who loves him, and promises to claim him. And then it all goes to hell.
SPECIAL FIC RECS:
1. The Soul Knows What the Heart Wants by isthatbloodonhisshirt (wasterella)
163K Words // Chapters: 9/9 // Hits: 74K // COMPLETED
//MATURE//
“Holy—shit,” Stiles breathed, Bacon stopping in what he was doing, still staring at him intently, as if begging him to understand, for someone to finally understand. Stiles felt like he’d been electrocuted and he leapt out of his chair, kneeling in front of Bacon and grabbing at his furry face. “Holy shit! Oh my God, are you—wait, holy—you’re not fucking with me, right?!” Bacon let out two quick barks, which Stiles chose to interpret as ‘no.’ “Oh my God, are you a real person in there?!” Stiles shouted in the wolf’s face, staring him right in the eye. He was still holding the wolf’s head with both hands, but Bacon dipped his muzzle in confirmation and Stiles officially lost his mind. “Oh my God!” he shouted again, releasing Bacon to clutch at his own hair. “Oh my God! Dude, for real?! You’re—holy shit! Holy shit!” He didn’t know how to react to this news. He had no fucking idea how to react. This was a person?! But how?! How was this a person?! People didn’t just turn into wolves!
2. Whisper Through the Din by HyperLittleNori (Shiguresan)
38K Words // Chapters: 4/4 // Hits: 11K // COMPLETED
//EXPLICIT//
He wasn’t good at knowing the best thing to say, knowing how to comfort someone. He never had been. That had always been his mom or Laura. He thought of them then, of his mom’s warm eyes and Laura’s thoughtful expression. He remembered that night she’d tucked him into the Camaro, smoke still clinging to their hair and clothes, remembered what she’d said and he thought those words would stick with him until the day he died. He watched Stiles for a long heartbeat; his own head slightly cocked as he listened to Stiles’s heart simmer back from the enraged crescendo it’d worked itself into. When it settled back to something sad and steady, like the vibration on a string instrument, Derek offered an uncertain echo of Laura’s words. “We’ll work this out, Stiles.”
3. This isn’t the OK!Cupid I thought I was signing up for by changez
21K Words // Chapters: 12/12 // Hits: 8K // COMPLETED
//MATURE//
Stiles and Scott are enjoying their relatively quiet life on the East Coast, but everything is turned upside down by the appearance of a very familiar black wolf stalking the nearby woods. A lone hunter forces Derek to make a last second decision to give Stiles the bite to save his life, but the circumstances bring a seemingly fairytale legend to reality. Derek feels remorse for what he’s done to Stiles, but before he can make amends, he’s captured. Stiles will have to come to terms with more than just the bite before it’s too late.

Feedback Fest 2024
Since everything I've read for the past 1.5 years has been pilots, all 10 of the fics here are Kara/Lee from Battlestar Galactica. I'm only listing one fic per author, so be sure to check individual author pages if you liked their style.
(go here over on @transformativeworks for more info!)
1. In the Whole World by pennyante (M, ~80K, WIP)
Summary:
The Cylons aren't quite human, and the humans haven't quite forgiven them. Political stability is less certain than ever now that the war is over: Lee Adama finds himself up for re-election, where being defeated will mean a Gemenese theocracy puppeteered by Leoben Conoy. Meanwhile, Kara Thrace has nothing but questions about her death and destiny. The only answers available come in the form of the vision of a temple, and from her hybrid/comatose husband's cryptic ramblings about a sister artifact to the Arrow of Apollo.
There's violence in the air. Civil war looms. Can Lee and Kara save each other, and keep the fledgling colony whole?
Thoughts: The best season 4 fix-it, lives in my head rent free, rewired my brain, etc. Also I've read it, like, 3 times (and I cried).
2. We're Not Friends by ninety6tears (M, ~25K)
Summary:
When two soldiers in the middle of a war can't seem to like each other, baptism by fire is apparently the natural solution. (AU in which Kara never knew Zak and first meets Lee after the fall of the colonies.)
Thoughts: I love a different first meeting AU, and this one takes pilots on a fun rivals to lovers spin that works surprisingly well. They're still very unwell about each other, though, make no mistake.
3. Artemis Rising by clairza (M, ~11K)
Summary:
The next morning Lee makes a few phone calls, and when everything has been organized and his credit card has been used for the first time in three months, and he’s had the pleasure of telling his mother that no, he has plans this week, he tracks Kara down in the quad.
She's lying on her stomach poking sticks upright in the grass. He sits down beside her, and he can see the tension in her shoulders.
“So,” he says casually, and he’s very proud of the way his voice doesn’t shake at all. “I hear the Aegean Peninsula is nice this time of year.”
“It probably is.”
“I’ve booked a unit.”
“Where are you going with this, Lee?” Thoughts: I have a huge soft spot for fluffy academy pilots and this fic absolutely delivers. Happy baby pilots go to the beach five stars no notes.
4. An Arranged Meeting by lark_ral (E, ~11K)
Summary: Even outside of wartime, you might be surprised by the pressures our service men and women are under. The most effective among them either have, or need a release valve. Thoughts: Lee and Kara are scene partners for years, then the Cylons come. Somehow less messy than the show, but still delicious.
5. Rota by leda13 (E, ~2K)
Summary: The days are arbitrary, in space. Bereft of the guide of a planet's rotation around the sun, they live in slices of time, stealing as many as they can. Thoughts: Emotional support curtain fic of pilots sneaking around.
6. Sufficient to the Day by rachelindeed (T, ~1.5K)
Summary: At the sound of Lee’s voice, she feels her stomach twist and drop. Reluctantly, she opens her eyes and sees him come to a stop an arm’s length away, settling one elbow onto the corner of the bleacher behind her. His jacket is unbuttoned, his hair mussed, jaw ghosted with stubble, and the frakking sun is rising behind him. The look on his face is casual and fond, but he breathes as if he’s been running. Thoughts: Mandatory UB morning after fix-it...sort of. I really like this one because all I wanted was for Lee to get to Kara first. Or for him to call her bluff. This fic is both. It's not a showdown on main street like I enjoy joking about, but it's quiet and it's them (so it's better!).
7. Contrecoup by Fahye (T, ~2.2K)
Summary:
Contrecoup (n): A concussion or shock produced by a blow or other injury, in a part or region opposite to that at which the blow is received, often causing rupture or disorganisation of the parts affected. (One story told right-way-up, the other told upside-down, but both in the same narrative.)
We begin at a single point in time. The present goes forwards. The past goes backwards.
The story is AU-within-canon and set after episode 1x11, "Colonial Day."
Thoughts: I can't say too much because I don't want to spoil the fic. So: a bit angsty, a lot sweet, with a side of Kara's amazing problem-solving skills.
8. Lee's Emo Coffeehouse by haycorn (M, ~2.9K)
Summary: Lee has a bar, and sometimes Kara makes his life more interesting. Thoughts: I love cute modern AUs in general, and I love them even more when there's pining involved. There's not nearly enough of this type of fic for pilots, either! Many thanks to the author for their service. Would read 100K of this 'verse.
9. Breathing Room by callmeonetrack (M, ~12K)
Summary: Kara and Lee adjust to their new, very separate lives on the Pegasus. Badly.
Thoughts: My favorite Pegasus fic! Being on the Pegasus sucks, but then Lee and Kara find each other and things get better. Chef's kiss, peak pilots.
10. And I Feel Fine by hazellazer (M, ~2.4K)
Summary:
“That was… that… why?”
Her hands stay firmly on his face, thumb brushing over his cheek. “I was just thinking—”
Cutting her off, he smirks. “You think?”
She swats at his arm, hard enough that it might actually bruise. “I thought you were dead, Lee.” Her gaze is harsh on his, voice rasping, before something softens. “And I should’ve done this the second I knew you weren’t.” Thoughts: Season 1, but Lee and Kara are together. It's nice, refreshing, and plain good.

When you get this, reply with your favorite five fics that you've written, then pass on to at least five other writers. Let’s spread the self-love 💖
Thanks for the tag, beloved @tleeaves <3
1. the last flower
I feel like it would be wrong not to put this as number one. This absoutely unhinged novel-length AU of a classic d*sney movie took so much passion and effort to bring to life and I'm still so amazed at what I managed to do with it. I put more time and planning into this than I have with my original stories, and after a year and a half of writing and publishing the entire product of that labour is out in the big wide world :')
2. unbreak this heart new
I wrote this fic in a couple of hours with no prior planning, motivated by pure insanity, and despite being posted later that evening with virtually no beta, it remains one of my favourite works. Post NtN fix-it fic for Gideon and Harrow (to explain any further than that would spoil most of the book series).
3. her care, so constant
I've written a lot of no plot just cuddles oneshots, but this one remains my favourite. I love to have Gideon being looked after, and just letting herself cry and be held and feel safe. It's an underrated genre of hurt/comfort that I hope to write more of someday.
4. i'm almost me again (she's almost you)
This is another one that took a lot of planning and effort to pull off, though it might not seem as complex as the tangled au. I wrote this for the 2022 tlt fic exchange and was so delighted with my request that I just had to give it my all, resulting in this very weird but very fun piece, starring the tower princes of ntn having a Bad Time.
5. i always see my youth in you
This piece (being poetry rather than fic and hence decidedly short) is probably one of my least-viewed works on the archive, but it still means a lot to me so it makes the list as well. I'm not a pro at poetry, but I feel like this demonstrated the emotions I was trying to convey, and it was such a fun piece that I still look fondly upon.
Tagging @locked-tomb-shenanigans , @manawari , @nooomagnus , @stedesbonnets (I know that's only four people but I don't actually have as many writer mutuals as I thought 😥 no pressure to do this if you don't want and apologies if we haven't talked that much on here before)
That being said, if any writer mutuals I haven't talked to before are seeing this feel free to say hi! So sorry if I've missed anyone.

20 Questions for Fic Writers
I've been tagged by @totallysilvergirl and @calaisreno TYSM!!
1. How many works do you have on A03?
51 in total
12 "real" fics and 21 ficlets and 18 covers (I didn't know how to embed on AO3 back then)
2. What's your total A03 word count?
271.977
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Sherlock BBC
4. What are your top five fics by kudos?
Mutual Attraction , Learn My Scars, The toe that didn´t belong, The embers still glow when I´m sober , Gravity is missing from everything
The last three are in fact a series called Here I Am
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
Of course! Always and quickly. I love comments, they make my day and fill me with happiness for hours. Not kidding!
6. What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
None of my fics end angsty. Some of my ficlets might, possibly Time
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
They all end happily.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
There had been a few very weird comments on "Mutual Attraction" that were rude or offensive. Some had been deleted by the cowards who posted them later.
9. Do you write smut?
Yes, I have written porn and enjoyed it. I also write gen and everything in between. Depends on the story.
10. Do you write crossovers?
No, because I define "crossover" as a mix of two existing universes, like Sherlock x Star Trek for example. I have written several AUs though. Alternate Universes with the same characters of my show but placed somewhere else.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not that I know of.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
I have been offered three times but declined because I personally am not comfortable with it.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
No.
14. What's your all-time favourite ship?
Johnlock
15. What's the WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
I have this fairy tale AU sitting in my drafts for literal years. 20k written and several attempts to take it up again, it is mostly plotted but just resists being finished. *sigh*
16. What are your writing strengths?
Learning by doing, I guess? I think of myself that I am versatile. Maybe writing movie-like action scenes. I remember that's been said in comments.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
I honestly do not know. (Which is not me saying I can do everything perfectly!! I just try whatever I want.) Finishing the above mentioned fic possibly.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
If it fits the story, why not? I write in English which is not my native language, so I could do German and some French and Italian, too.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Sherlock BBC.
I've actually never written anything before I started with Sherlock fanfic. I got this idea and it grew and I began to write it down just for me so that I would not forget it. Then I thought, why not write it into a fic? I've been reading a lot fanfic already. Over the course of two years (writing on and off) the idea had turned into a 94k fic. I only started posting "Mutual Attraction" when it was completed on AO3.
I still think it's funny because just imagine this. Never wrote a word of fiction before, not even in my native language. Then, first thing I produced is a novel-length fic written directly in English. Still seems surreal to me.
20. Favourite fic you've ever written?
I love all of my babies and will not choose a fave one. There are only faves in categories.
"Mutual Attraction" was my first and longest fic.
"Wretched and Divine" was the one that made me find my dear friend and beta @peageetibbs
Technically, I am most proud of pulling off "Learn My Scars" because it is 38k written under a huge amount of pressure due to daily posting for Whumptober 2022. Five weeks of intense writing madness but very rewarding, too.
AU and plot-twist wise it would be "The 13th Book ".
---------
So many people have done this but I think @shiplocks-of-love @shelleysprometheus @cumbercurlygirl have not been tagged yet. And anybody else who wants to share, please.

Lonesome Superhero Part 4
Tumblr media
Pairing: Gator Tillman x f!reader (not romantic)
Summary: Months after moving away from Stark County, things finally come to a head as you confront your fears and the Tillmans confront the law. How will Gator react and what truths will emerge?
Warnings: language, misogynistic themes from the show, mentions of DV
Length: 3.3k +
A/N: This one deviates from cannon. I had a theory while watching the show. It turned out to be incorrect, but I really liked it and had already used it as the foundation for this series, so I decided to run with it anyway. Tah-dah! This is kind of an AU, but I really like it!
| Series masterlist | Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3 |
Fic below the cut or on AO3 here
Tumblr media
"Batman. Superman. Spiderman. Ugh! It's always gotta be guys doing the hero stuff!" you huff, splaying out Gator's comic books that sit atop the cafeteria table.
"Duh!" he replies as you plunk yourself down beside the dark-haired boy. "They've got the superpowers; of course they're gonna save the day!"
"Yeah, but it's always about a guy, and the girl is the one that always hasta be saved. What you need is to read this one, Gate." You slap down an issue of Wonder Woman in front of your best friend. "Now she's a superhero!"
Gator stares skeptically at the bright yellows and reds that compose the artwork on the comic book cover.
"Go ahead," you grin triumphantly, "take it home for a bit. I personally guarantee that you'll love it!"
With his hardened frown dissolving into a warm smile, a twelve-year-old Gator Tillman peers fondly at his best friend next to him. Somehow you always managed to make him feel good: valued, accepted, and truly understood.
Nodding affirmatively, Gator then gathers the comic and tucks it in his backpack along with the others for the trip home. That, however, would be the last time you would see your issue of Wonder Woman. Days turned into weeks, and Gator claimed that he "wasn't finished yet". Excuses piled up until you eventually forgot that the comic even existed. In reality, however, it was Roy Tillman who ensured that the Amazonian heroine had no influence on his son.
-x-
The simple days of comic books have long since passed. Now, here you are in a completely different state, living each day by constantly glancing over your shoulder. Sleep eludes you despite the four deadbolts on your tiny apartment’s door. The smallest, most insignificant noises startle you, causing panic to seize your chest in a vice-like grip, terrified that he’s found you. Even your performance at work has declined, which is something that neither you nor your patients can afford. While you might have escaped from Stark County, the looming fear of Roy Tillman and his son follows you like the darkest of rain clouds.
A soft touch to your shoulder makes your body stiffen and your muscles jump. The echoes of beeping machines and the fluorescent lighting overhead reel you back to reality as the hand pulls away, startled by your reaction.
“Are you alright?” the head nurse speaks softly. “Mr. Patel’s dressing needs changing in room 305.”
As you turn around to face your boss, it’s clear your answer to her question is a resounding ‘no’.
The nurse’s features deepen with concern. “Darling, what’s wrong?”
You have held everything in for a couple months now, completely isolated and alone – too afraid to tell your truth in case the long arm of Roy Tillman’s law finds you. However, your boss is here in the present. She runs a tight ship at work, expecting your best, but she has also shown you nothing but kindness. And right now, her sincerity is breaking down the barriers that hold your fears tightly locked away.
Flagging down another nurse to cover the hospital floor, the two of you escape to a break room, where you find the courage to release your truths. You tell her about Gator and about Roy. You tell her that you are sorry for your inadequate performance at work but that you are just so scared. And instead of judging you, she holds you while you cry. She reassures you that you are brave and that she cares. But she also delivers the harsh reality that you can’t go on this way – that the only way to permanently end this torment is to go to the police.
At first, you recoil in aversion. The tendrils of your fear extend to the possibility that the Tillmans have connections across several state lines, yet the gentle encouragements from the head nurse help settle your unease. You know deep down that it is the right thing to do.
-x-
A loud bang on the door startles Gator awake. His head lolls towards his alarm clock, his eyes slowly peeling open. 1am?!? For Christ’s sake! Wiping the drool from his mouth, the Tillman son throws on a dirty white tank top to match his boxers and begins to drag himself into the hallway.
Another couple of loud knocks ring out amongst muffled shouts. Who the fuck is that, and what the fuck do they want?!? Gator seethes, patience worn thin.
BANG BANG BANG “North Dakota state police! Open up!”
Oh, shit! With his system now fully jolted awake, Gator scrambles down the hall. “Dad!” he yells frantically, open palm slapping against his father’s bedroom door. “Dad!”
The door swings open, and an angry gaze is immediately cast down over Gator. Roy towers over his son, nipple piercings glinting in the low light. “What have I told you about waking me, boy?”
Gator visibly shrinks, his face wrought with panic. “But dad, it’s the –”
BANG BANG BANG “North Dakota state police! This is your final warning! Open up!”
The two men’s heads whip towards the direction of the front door downstairs. Roy shoves his son out of the way, bounding down the staircase at lightning speed. Gator is left behind with his mouth gaping; a confused and sleepy Karen joins him at the bedroom entrance. She sleepily wraps her robe around herself, unaware of the events about to transpire.
The next several moments pass by in a hazy blur. Gator hears his father greet the police and listens as that deep voice raises in anger. The figures stir, and the next thing Gator witnesses is his father being forcefully cuffed and led out the front door. Karen shrieks, and her wails ring through Gator’s ears as she runs out of the house after her husband. Gator feels as though life is in slow motion; that the world around him is crumbling away. He barely registers what's happening thereafter until he feels the cool metal of a handcuff being secured around his wrist. He blinks slowly as his other arm is guided behind his back and a cuff cinches shut.
He should resist. He should be fighting back like the reptile he is named for…Yet, he doesn't. Instead of panic, instead of fear, a weird sensation akin to relief takes root and begins to blossom inside of Gator’s chest as he, too, is led out of his childhood home towards the blue and red flashing lights that pierce the darkness.
-x-
“I’m not saying a word. Not. A. Fucking. Word!” spits the Tillman son before harshly folding his arms across his chest and gluing his gaze to the metal table in front of him.
“Peter,” coaxes a female police officer. “We know you were there. Just tell us what happened.”
Gator doesn’t look up. He simply swallows thickly.
The middle-aged officer shifts from her place beside the table; her sleek shadow moves next to her in the dim lighting as she takes a seat across from the young man. Her voice lowers and mellows as she begins to speak. “You must really like her,” the officer pauses to allow her words to sink in. “You just wanted your chance to be with her. No one can fault you for that. But, she told us her version of that night in the parking lot, and now we need your side of it too.”
A brief flicker from hazel irises catch in the light. A thumb rubs anxiously back and forth along his bicep, and a pair of thin lips pinch together tightly. Yet still, Gator Tillman remains quiet.
The officer glances behind her and gives a nod towards the two-way mirror. Mere seconds later, the interview room door creaks open, and her colleague, a six-foot-something brick shithouse of a man, enters the room. His presence seems to swallow the entirety of the small space.
Gator’s gaze flashes up towards the large officer, brows knitting defiantly.
“Peter,” the female officer starts again, a soft tone still woven into her words, “we would like you to see something.”

“Sheriff Tillman,” chimes a female FBI agent, “things will be so much easier for you if you just tell us the truth. We have your son in the next room over. Tell us what happened before he does.”
“My son?” The man bursts out in bitter laughter. “My son is a waste of space. None of us would be here if it weren’t for him. He goes out and makes a fool of himself in front of some dumb broad, and then comes crying to daddy to help him win her over.”
The FBI agent plants her palms firmly on the metal table and leans in to stare her suspect down. “According to what our witness told us, it doesn’t seem like you set out to do any of that.”
Roy scoffs. “The only reason I went to chat with that young lady was because my so-called son was too much of a pussy to land the little whore on his own!”
Biting back a smirk, the agent presses on. “Your son seems to be a touchy subject for you, Roy. You hired him as your deputy, so he must be doing something right.”
Roy’s face contorts as if he has just heard the most outrageous statement imaginable. “The boy is a complete fuckup.” He grits his teeth. “It’s been that way ever since he took his first breath. All scrawny and weak. I thought a job on the force would toughen him up – make a man out of him – but he’s still just as pathetic as the day he was born.”
Even as he sits in police-issue sweatpants and t-shirt, Roy Tillman’s presence consumes the oxygen in the room. The resentment the senior Tillman holds for his son is reflected back at him in the two-way mirror.
Yet, just beyond that mirror is the face of a boy. One who has just been shoved headfirst into reality. He remains quiet, attempting to hide the emotions that course under his skin – afraid that somehow his father can see him watching on.
“Peter,” the officer speaks quietly from over his shoulder. “You don’t have to protect him anymore.”
Gator stares silently at his father. The Stark County sheriff looks like a caged beast that is aggressively pacing its confinements as it plots the best moment to strike.
“I can’t…” whispers Gator, the words catching in his throat.
A warm hand finds his shoulder. “You can, Peter. If not for yourself, then for her. You have the chance to make things right.”
-x-
"Mr. Tillman," bellows the prosecutor. Gator blinks, refocusing on the wood-decorated courtroom and the many faces that fill the rows of his surroundings. "You have testified here today on the many crimes – illegal weapons dealings, internal police corruption, and missing person’s cases – that Sheriff Roy Tillman is allegedly accused of orchestrating and or committing. However, there is one missing person's case that has yet to be discussed –"
"OBJECTION!" yells the defense lawyer, rising to his feet with palms slapping down against his desk. "This is new evidence that my council has not been informed of!"
A gasp resonates amongst the shocked crowd in the gallery.
The judge levels her gaze at both men. “Approach.”
"Your honor," explains the prosecution coolly as he arrives at the bench, "this testimony falls under the category of missing persons from Stark County which the state and the defense have agreed are admissible topics inside this court."
The judge silently consults her notes. It seems as though everyone in the room is holding in a collective breath. Finally, the judge announces her conclusion, "Overruled. I'll allow it. Please continue."
The defense attorney angrily sits back down, exchanging careful glances with his client as he does.
From his seat, Roy Tillman’s hardened eyes descend upon his son. In the past, that look always made Gator fold as easily as a house of cards. This time, however, Gator finds the courage to turn away. His hazel eyes seek out yours, and he finds you sitting quietly behind the prosecution, unwilling to allow any Tillman to witness the fear that runs through your veins.
"Peter," chimes the prosecutor. "Can you please tell the jury what you saw that day?"
Snapping out of his trance, Gator shifts to focus on the lawyer in front of him. He swallows thickly. It's now or never.
"I – I was five years old,” he begins. “One evening my mother came rushing into my room. She told me to pack my favorite toys into a bag because we had to leave right away. She never told me why; she just left my room in a hurry.” Gator’s expression suddenly changes. It appears as though he has been transported to some distant place in his memory. “Then… I remember hearing the front door slam and heavy footsteps pound up the stairs to my door. It was my father. He pointed a finger at me and told me to get in bed. To not come out. I remember being so confused as he shut my door and left. Next thing I heard was the yelling and shouting. Both my mother and father were screaming at each other. Again.”
“What happened next, Peter?” the prosecution coaxes gently.
“I – I was just trying to figure out what was going on.” Gator’s eyes squeeze shut at the memory. “I disobeyed my father and crept to the edge of the stairs. I sat just out of sight and watched it through the banister.”
“It? What was it that you saw?” the prosecutor prompts again.
“I saw my father swing and momma drop.” Gator’s voice falters, tone becoming boyish at the mention of his mother. “When she didn’t get up, my father picked her up and put her over his shoulder. I – I remember her hand dangling as he carried her towards the back door. I was so scared. I ran back up to my room and got in bed.”
“Peter, that must have been a very traumatic experience for you, especially at such a young age. But do you remember any other details about that night?”
“I remember seeing our shaggy white rug being stained bright red as my mother was lying on it. That rug was gone the next day.”
“Okay, good. Now, why didn’t you tell anyone? Why keep this a secret for so many years? You must have loved your mother, no?”
“Of course I loved my mom!” Gator’s voice cracks again. “But I never told anyone because I had disobeyed my father that night. I knew I would be punished if he found out.”
“Punished how, Peter?”
“The belt.”
The prosecutor nods somberly. “And what did your father tell you had happened to your mother?”
“My father told me – told everyone – that mom had run away. That she didn't want to be with us anymore. I spent twenty-some years convincing myself that his story was true."
As Gator concludes his testimony, you notice a shimmer in his eyes. He swallows hard to blink the moisture away.
On the opposite side of the courtroom, Roy's jaw clenches and unclenches, his features betraying his shock and anger. He clearly hadn't known what Gator witnessed all those years ago, and if looks could kill, Gator's body would already be cold.
The gallery remains eerily silent.
"Thank you, Mr. Tillman," speaks the judge. "Would the defense like to cross-examine?"
"We would, your honor," replies Roy's attorney through tight lips.
The stout man rises from his seat and buttons his suit coat. He clears his throat. "Mr. Tillman – Gator. “You fit to benefit from testifying against your father today, don’t you?" Before the Tillman son has a chance to reply, the lawyer opens his mouth again. "Is it true that you will receive a reduced sentence despite admitting to being a major player in some of the alleged crimes committed?"
Gator stares up at the defense attorney dejectedly. "Yes, sir," he admits. "Five years for accessory, plus psychiatric counseling."
You watch as some jury members knit their brows together. Prosecutors make deals all the time in exchange for testimony. This reveal shouldn't come as a surprise.
The lawyer’s smirk widens as he turns to the judge. "The defense rests, your honor."
Nodding towards Gator, the judge dismisses him, and a bailiff escorts him quietly towards the exit of the courtroom. As he passes your row, Gator cautiously meets your gaze for the second time that day. He merely gives you a solemn frown before once again bowing his head as he is led away.
Meanwhile, you are left standing there completely dumbfounded, your mind swimming with thoughts. Who would have known that this whole situation would unravel into something so sinister? You knew that Roy Tillman was a shady character. You knew that many in Stark County feared him, but you never could have fathomed the extent as to why. Neither could you have predicted how all of this had influenced Gator. Yet somehow, the pieces of the puzzle fit together seamlessly. The introverted boy from middle school. The bully from high school. The pompous ass you swore at outside of the retirement home. And even Roy's threat in the dark parking lot. It all added up. Gator had spent twenty-plus years harbouring a dark secret while his father attempted to mold Gator into a carbon copy of himself. The years of abuse, neglect, and conditioning… It didn’t excuse everything that had happened, but it certainly put it all into perspective.
-x-
In the days that follow, you attend each court session dutifully. You hear other witness testimony that incriminates Roy in a multitude of nefarious actions. You even hear from a young woman named Dorothy, who bravely stares down the sheriff as she recounts the abuse she endured by his hand.
Of course, the defense tries to weave the evidence into misconstrued accounts that shift the blame away from the senior Tillman. But as the trial wears on, the faces of the jurors drift from skepticism towards disgust. And, as the final verdict is read, tension converts to relief when Roy Tillman is found guilty on each criminal charge he is tried for.
You watch stoically as the disgraced Sheriff is led away, tethered in cuffs and chains, yet somehow this result feels partially empty. Countless lives have forever been altered by this man, and the weight of that grim realization smothers you. Your thoughts briefly drift to Gator and how he, despite everything he admitted to, is yet another victim of the corrupt county sheriff.
You shake those dark thoughts away as you file out of the courtroom amongst the rest of the crowd.
-x-
A couple months go by, and you finally allow yourself to breathe. Roy Tillman is locked away in a maximum security facility, never to wield his power again, while Gator has been sent east to serve out his time.
Back in Stark County, the harsh winter passes. Frigid snow retreats, allowing the landscape to blossom once again. And, just as spring rolls into the county, so do you. After all, your heart had always been at the retirement home, seeking to give back to the community you grew up in. Life even seems to return to normal as Stark County gradually beings to heal from the long reign of the Tillman lineage.
Then, on one beautiful spring afternoon, you return home from your shift to find a padded envelope resting against your door frame. Taking the package inside, you notice that the return address belongs to a federal correctional institution in New Hampshire. Your brow furrows in confusion as you open up the envelope.
Its contents make you gasp.
Bright yellows and reds catch your eye as a familiar image brings up forgotten memories. Attached to the front cover of the Wonder Woman issue is a sticky note that reads:
I’m sorry for everything.
                             - Gator
Thanks for reading! Feedback is loved ❤

New Year's Ask Game for Fic Writers
To close out 2023…
1) What fic did you have the most fun writing this year and why? Or, if you can’t decide, what was most fun about writing this year for you?
It was a lot of fun writing the Masquerade story, because there was a lot to consider. Should I use my own voice or try to mimic someone else's? Should I write a story that I normally wouldn't take a chance on? Game-ifying fic writing makes it really exciting. And now it's fun to guess on everyone else's stories!
2) What’s a scene/story that you finished and felt “wow, I really accomplished that, that actually went so well”?
Chapter 13 of Out of Nowhere. I knew from the beginning that I'd have to write that angsty sex scene, and I felt like I was training for a marathon leading up to it. It had to balance anger and love, had to involve force but not be rapey. There were so many complex and competing forces in the scene, and I wasn't sure I could pull it off.
3) What helped provide the most inspiration for stories, if anything? Was it poetry? A song on repeat? A gorgeous gifset? A walk outside? A book you read that made you want to change everything? Whatever it was! Tell all.
Songs! Always songs. Murder ballads. Heavy metal opuses. Raw 2000s emo. Give me all of it.
4) What is something you want to share about what you’ve written this year? A particular line, a comment that made you feel really good, a scene that was difficult to write — you get to choose! What do you wish someone would ask you about when it comes to what you’ve written?
I tried to write novels back between 2012-2018. I wrote 2 YA fantasy novels and pieces of four others. But none of them ever felt complete. None of them gelled in my mind. I don't know why. I shelved them all. Then, I discovered the Gallavich fandom. I read the fics and a fire got lit inside me. And now I've written five novel-length stories. FIVE. And they all feel right! I can't thank this fandom enough for being supportive, inspiring, and transformative. I may not have a ton of fics, but completing a fifth multi-chap makes me feel like a superhero.
And to start off 2024…
1) Do you have any writing/creation goals for the year? What are they?
Finish Out of Nowhere, which will happen ... any day now!
2) Is there a fic or idea that you’re really excited to be able to continue to work on in the new year (shout out to my fellow fic writing folks who take forever to finish wips, sometimes it’s nice to be able to continue working on something even if you wish you’d gotten it done! Now you get even MORE time with it!)
I am exited to continue the @galladrabbles series No Sleep 'Til Nashville. It makes me giggle to put all the fandom tropes in there. It might go on for the entire year, who knows? There's a lot of story left to tell, and I have a lot of shenanigans planned.
3) What’s something new in your writing you want to try/are going to try? A different writing style? Different fandom? Darker works? Fluffier? Longer or shorter?
I might write more short stories this year. I might write a non-Gallavich original novel (if the idea strikes). All I know is that I'll always be writing something.
4) What’s something you love about your own writing that you will continue to appreciate in the new year?
I love creating suspense — in a scene, in a chapter, in an entire fic. I enjoy the challenge of making every scene sing, or at least having narrative tension. I don't see that going away. Here's hoping I can succeed!
Tagging, if you'd like to participate: @sweetperversiongirl @sweetbee78 @depressedstressedlemonzest @juliakayyy @notherenewjersey @metalheadmickey @creepkinginc @whatthebodygraspsnot @arrowflier @crossmydna

i have a few options for chanukah one shot fics to work on so vote for what u want to see :)
forgot to make the previous poll length 1 week- vote in this one
for more context:
option 1 is pretty much what it sounds like, a one shot of frodo, sam, merry, and pippin celebrating chanukah. i would likely have them just be jewish with no explanation, meaning i wouldn't make an in-universe backstory for chanukah or for why hobbits or these specific hobbits are jewish.
for option 2 i would create an in-universe backstory for chanukah and create numenorean traditions that parallel chanukah traditions but may not be direct copies. the fic can potentially be a story that takes place in numenor focused on a numenorean royal family or OCs, but since i would have to create OCs which i dont like doing it would more likely be presented as an official document or historical record/megillah type thing documenting the backstory and traditions- think the books of Maccabees but Numenorean.
option 3 would be the same as option 2, except the traditions are modified for Gondor since some of the traditions can't be done outside of Numenor. it could be
a) Denethor's family celebrating (either pre or post death of Finduilas, pre, post, or during war, with any combination of family members and maybe guests!)
b) Faramir teaching Eowyn about the traditions
c) document as in option 3 (perhaps the same document but with commentary as to how to celebrate post-destruction of Numenor). the document could be presented on its own or as two people learning it together. ALTERNATIVELY!! chanukah could be a holiday that was invented post-destruction of Numenor entirely, which wouldn't change much in terms of the actual story but it would require a different backstory.
and lastly, option 4 would be a sort of 'pagan' holiday of light that the elves celebrate, fun little story featuring thranduil and legolas, probably would not have many parallels to the actual chanukah story besides featuring light/candles.
options 1 and 4 would be easiest to write but options 2 and 3 might be more,, interesting and meaningful. reblog and lmk ur thoughts!

Tips and Tricks for Writing Fanfiction by Yours Truly
Hello there, my fellow fandom enjoyers! I have come to pass on some wisdom.
Have you ever had an idea that came to your mind? One that you feel could be an amazing fanfiction? But perhaps you halt right there because you might be thinking you could never write it well enough. Well, I was very much in the same boat a few years ago, so I know how it is.
However, I believe you should still give it a go! And I have compiled a list of advice tidbits that have helped me. And perhaps, they can help you too!
I dunno what sparked this desire to make and post this, but I thought it might help someone out there! Well then, let’s begin!
1: First and foremost, congratulate yourself on coming up with an idea. That part can often be difficult and you have already jumped that incredible hurdle. And it’s important to keep in mind that you should be writing this for YOU. It’s a personal project for you and it does not matter how niche it is. It’s something fun! That’s super vital to remember, to have fun with this idea in your mind!
2: I recommend taking at least a week or two to jot down notes about your au. Write down the absolutes in your world and events you want to happen. Character traits or details, powers, settings, conflicts, banger lines, etc. These ideas can spring into being at literally any time, so be sure to write them down as soon as you can, as your memory might not recall these little things later down the line.
3: For stories, make sure you know where it will begin and where it will end. Smaller details can be changed later down the line as you see fit, but do try and know the end goal and what you want to accomplish. This can also be applied to fics that are more episodic in nature. What do you want to happen by the end? Once you have that squared away, then you can begin to build around that.
4: So here’s a tip to help save yourself from stressing too much. Don’t set deadlines or make promises about when the fic or chapter will be completed and posted. Motivation comes and goes and it’s often beyond your control. Some days you can write 1000 words, and some you will only manage a single sentence. That’s normal! Don’t force your brain to overwork and stress by wanting to adhere to a deadline. No stress should be involved for something you are doing for fun.
5: Do not pay attention to the word count. A fanfic is a fanfic, no matter what the length is. Don’t beat yourself down if the fic is short. Some people love a nice and short fic! What’s important is that you accomplished what you set out to do.
6: ALWAYS edit. You can do this with a beta reader or by waiting about a day and rereading your current draft. You would not believe how helpful this is. Mistakes are bound to happen. But don’t get discouraged! Even big name authors make mistakes on their works, so don’t worry if you find some in your first drafts. It’s totally fine and easily fixable!
And here are a few other bonus tidbits that might be helpful.
7: If you are choosing to begin a fanfiction with multiple chapters, I would suggest writing at least two chapters before posting. It helps you get a good feel on if you want to continue or have enough steam for it. There is no shame in deciding to put it aside if you don’t have enough energy to do it at that time!
8: I also highly recommend that you go and read books and other fanfictions. It actually helps a lot more than you realize. You unconsciously will begin to pick up on writing styles and see what does or doesn’t work. Perhaps you might also expand your vocabulary!
So yeah, that’s my advice that I’ve accumulated from writing fics by trial and error. I do really hope that you find it useful and helpful! Good luck on your works!

Welcome to a little interactive Tav/Astarion Au fic.
Hello, I'm your writer and DM today. This will be a story where the major decisions and dialogue choices will be determined via twitter poll. I am aiming for this to be a gender-neutral Tav, so you can headcanon whatever you want in that regard, but we are gonna give them some character nonetheless. Also: It's an AU, so we won't touch the main plotpoints of the game. This is for the silly romance feels and perhaps some vampire steaminess. So be aware that, depending on choices, this could get nsfw.
And because I am very tired of the constant Spawn vs Ascended discourse, we are going with a secret third option, the details of which you might find out in the story, again, depending on choices, of course. ^^
You can find the interactive version here on my Twitter
Setting: Countess Sierran is known for throwing the social events of the season in Neverwinter, raising money for good causes, and giving people a platform to meet all sorts of new acquaintances. You know that this is also an inofficial welcome to someone fairly new to the city. A white-haired man who bought a sizable estate but not that many people have met yet in person. Rumor has it he has left his home of Baldur's Gate behind for good, but why and what for is the source of much gossip. Perhaps tonight, there will be some answers, or maybe just a lot more questions.
But before we can start: Character creation!
The options are under the cut and on twitter, under this post with the matching polls to vote for.
Pick a name, I've tried to pick suggestions that work for any gender. 1 - River 2 - Ash 3 - Morgan 4 - Storm
What brings you to the palace tonight? (Background)
1 - The Hero You are a seasoned adventurer that has been through a lot and made a name for themselves. Even when not being part of nobility, your deeds have granted you an invitiation nonetheless. Everyone in the city knows your name, after all. If its generosity or a political move, you cannot say. Yet.
2 - The Commoner You are an oridinary person, a commoner living in the city and making ends meed by working as a tailor. One of your oldest friends has married rich and keeps sending buisness your way. And one day, an invitation along with this. You are here on their good graces, trying not to leave a bad impression.
3 - The Servant You are a servant of the palace, having worked for the countess for a while. You keep your ear to the ground, hearing far more of what the nobility gossips about than anyone could possibly imagine. It's a simple life, but your employer is fair and you can't complain. Tonight, you're responsible for seeing to the guest's needs, even thought o msot of them, you are mostly invisible.
4 - The Criminal You've spent your childhood on the streets, learning early that no one gives you anything, and you have to take what you want by any means necessary. Nowadays, you are a blade for hire, and your current employer has sent you here with an invitation and a target. You know how to blend in perfectly, dagger hidden beneath clothes as you wait for just the right moment.
What do people think of you (Personality)
1 - The Closed Book You are a closed book, you rarely talk, and especially not about something personal. You are so stoic, people have a hard time getting to know you, and many don't put in the effort to try.
2 - The Charmer You are upbeat and easy to talk to, but you know how to play an audience. You use charme to set people at ease, but what you truly feel and think is often a mystery.
3 - The Open One You are friendly and open, not seeing a point in hiding how you truly feel. You wear your heart on your sleeve and often disarm people with how genuine you are.
4 - The Liar Telling the truth is for peple not careful enough. You have an easy time lying and utilize that skill to keep yourself safe and others at arm's length.
What do you strive for (Goals)
1 - Riches and Comfort You want more. No matter where you are right now, you know there is something more for you out there, and all you need to do is go after it with all your heart.
2 - A Different Life Everything is wrong. You know you are not who you are supposed to be. You need to get away from the status quo by any means necessary, even if that means accepting help.
3 - Peace and Quiet All you want is to rest. Life has been troublesome enough, you just want something quaint and peaceful where you don't have to be "someone" anymore.
4 - Nothing You are perfectly content in your current situation, you want nothing to change at all, and if you have to, you are ready to put the work in or even fight to keep what you have.
What frightens you (Fears)
1 - Lonelyness You can't stand the thought of being on your own. You need someone with you, someone who fights for you and you for them.
2 - Death You fear nothing more than the cold finality of death. It lurks around every corner and you know you have to be smart to outwit it.
3 - Betrayal You have difficulties trusting people, the thought that someone who knows you intimately turns your back on you is petrifying.
4 - Obscurity The thought of being forgotten, of your life not mattering to anyone in the long run and leaving no impact behind once you are gone sends chills down your back.
If you wanna influence the main character you have until the weekend to vote on it here.

Also, I can’t believe I wrote two whole text walls and didn’t even talk about the corn metaphors. Wilbur being tied down by the roots, the same roots his father is buried between, being forever connected to that unmarked grave. And it literally rooting him into place. Also them disappearing when he sees Phil because he always feels safe with him and then coming back day during his fight with Tommy because the guilt is resurfacing. Oh and the deer in the headlights metaphors very clearly tells us how Wilbur sees their relationship (even if it’s a scewed view).
Also, I very much loved how secretive they were being about it with Phil around, almost like they were using his presence as a shield to not talk about it, to not have that conversation, yet they are still unable to properly talk about it without him there.
Then there’s Tommy coming out with the gun and Wilbur needing to take it from him. I’d have to reread it, but I can’t image the image of his, now grown up, younger brother with a gun in his hands was good for him. So he needed to take that gun, like he feels he should have taken it years ago. And he tries to rewrite his wrongs and actually protect him this time (like he didn’t last time, like he didn’t actually get their dad to let go). But he still can’t shoot because he’s a pacifist.
Lastly, the imagery works very well. This could be a really good short film with the way you described the flashback and when the gunshot would be placed. I also feel like this would work really well as a little novella, but I’m not sure it’s long enough for that. Maybe a book bundle with some of your other stories because from what I’ve heard you write really good ones (and now I’m feeling like I might actually want to read under the brine and I can’t remember the title of the other one, but I know there’s at least 2 more really really good ones).
Anyway, third times the charm so I’m stopping here before this turns into yet another wall of text (no 4 paragraphs does not count as a wall). And now I’m going to go a be productive because school really is coming for my throat (I can’t wait to graduate, I’m so done)
-🌲
YEAHHH CORN METAPHORS YOU GET IT!! he's quite literally rooted to that place. to his father's grave buried within the cornfields. the roots that tie him there are his guilt over what he did and while they briefly go away when phil hugs him they come right back when he's reminded of his guilt again.
having phil there makes it easier because they quite literally can't talk about it so it frees them from the expectation, but at the same time they can't avoid it. it's just this heavy Thing between them neither one can completely ignore and it just makes everything so much more complicated
yuppp wilbur had to take the gun the second time around because he didn't want to fuck up again. he didn't want to fail tommy a second time. he couldn't let tommy be the one to fire the gun this time. but then wilbur himself still can't shoot because that's just not who he is. he's not the one who can pull the trigger and he never will be.
honestly if i had the patience to sit down and write a screenplay I think this would be best formatted as a film. there were a few more scenes i had ideas for but i wanted to keep the story on the shorter side but i could definitely lengthen it to a full blown movie. maybe one day... but yes I have a soft spot for my novella length fics they're very special to me
(ok not trying to hype myself up but if you wanna read any of my novella length things I highly recommend under the brine like it's an oldie but a goodie i'm still very proud of it. that one and starman waiting in the sky have my heart i love both of those so much)
best of luck with school spruce you'll get through this!!

Leon's first spell
A fic for Fire Vermillion month, where Fuegoleon's son, and first-born child (Leon), learns his first spell, and Fuegoleon "spars" with him.
Just some good family fluff, where Fuegoleon tries to encourage Leon with his magic and capabilities by "tumbling to the ground" (totally not on purpose XD )
Characters: Fuegoleon Vermillion, Leonidas Vermillion (OC), and an un-named mother of Leon Genre: Family fluff (with some humour) Fanfic type: Oneshot Length: ~2,0k Contains: just some heartfelt fluff
Tumblr media
It was early afternoon at the Vermillion estate, where Leonidas, the first-born son and child of Fuegoleon Vermillion was looking through the books he had found from his father’s shelf. Books about magic. And Leon had thought that those books might be able to help him with his magic. After all, he had been told that father had studied a lot while learning to cast spells. However, the problem with the books was that as a 4-year-old, he couldn’t read.
They seemed to help father though, and there were all kind of pictures and ‘di-a-grams’ that also seemed to be of some importance.
But Leon, no matter how much he frowned and tried to stare at them, couldn’t really understand what they were about. He had even tried looking at them upside down! But alas, it had proven to be of no use.
However, Leon knew that he had mana. He had magic. And while looking at his hand, he thought about all the times he had accidentally set his clothes, some curtains, and tablecloths on fire, because he had a lot of mana that he couldn’t quite yet control. But some day he would. Or so mother and father told him.
And he was determined to make it happen. He was determined to cast a spell. Even if he was told that most didn’t start casting proper spells until the age of 5 or 6.
So, he got up and closed his eyes.
Concentrate… he told himself while holding his hands outstretched in front of him.
He had been doing breathing exercises for already 2 whole months, as well as tried to concentrate on the flow of his mana. Mother had said that it’s important.
And usually when he did set something on fire, it felt like the mana was… going to one place. Like when you push the blanket into a pile on the bed. So, maybe he should do that.
Concentrate…
He pushed his hands forward!
And opened his eyes.
But nothing happened.
He frowned, and hummed. After which he tried a few more times.
But still nothing happened, and so, he sat down, looking at his hands again.
Why can’t I…? He thought as frustration started bubbling up inside of him.
There was a flare on his hands.
Oh! He frowned with curiosity this time. And hummed again in thought.
He flailed his hand again, just around himself. Then he pushed it forward again. But it didn’t feel the same when his hands had flared up. Which meant that just pushing must’ve been different!
He got up again, and focused on the mana. Though he wasn’t quite sure what it was exactly, but it was the thing in him that felt like it was… Well, he wasn’t really sure how to describe it either. It made him feel warm. But not in the same way as he was wrapped in a blanket by mom.
He closed his eyes again, and focused on the warm sensation.
His arms stretched forward and pushed forward a couple of times while still focusing on that warm sensation.
There was a flare. A small ball of fire that dropped from his hands, and which dissipated before hitting the ground.
His mouth went wide open.
“Yes!” He exclaimed and giggled.
Again!
He tried, focusing again on the warm sensation, and pushed his hands forward. He had to repeat the motion a couple of times, but there it was again!
He tried. And he tried. Until with each push he managed to get something out.
He laughed and jumped around with excitement that bubbled around in his stomach.
I have to show Father! He dashed out of the room, leaving the books and the ‘di-a-grams’ onto the floor.
“Papa! Papa!” He yelled with a wide, wide smile while running through the corridors to his father’s office.
“Papa!” He yelled while at the door and reached for the handle to open the door.
“Papa I-“ he stood still, as behind the door, was his father, sitting behind his desk, but also some other people, who looked like they might have been important. And they weren’t wearing the red cloak either.
“Oh!” He uttered, while closing the door and stepping back into the hallway.
There was a pause.
A moment of silence.
And a knock at the door.
“Father, may I please enter?”
Leon was sure that he could hear Father chuckle, but there was also a gentle: “Yes, you may enter Leon.”
So, he opened the door and looked at his father with a smile, glancing only briefly to the other men in the room.
“What is the matter, Leon?” Father asked, but he didn’t sound upset.
“I… I cast my first spell!” He announced with pride and a wide smile.
“Oh?” Father said. “Let’s see it.”
“Okay!” Leon exclaimed, before frowning in concentration, and holding out his hands. Again he focused on the warmth, and cast a small, flaring, radiating ball of fire out, which this time hit the carpet on the floor, scorching it ever so slightly.
“Well done Leon,” Father said with an approving smile. “You’ll become a great mage. It seems that I must start sparring with you.”
Father? Sparring with him?
Leon wasn’t quite sure what to do with himself. He just knew that he was smiling. He was smiling so wide that he couldn’t smile any wider.
Father was proud of him!
“Thank you!” He yelled, while resisting the urge to jump around.
Oh! He thought.
“Mother! Mother!” He yelled, turning around on his heels and running into the corridor.
He managed a small distance. After which he turned around, and went back to Father’s office door to close it.
“Mother! Mother!” He yelled again as he started running again, eventually finding her from the library of the headquarters.
“What is it, Leon?” She asked with a smile as he ran to her with a proud smile on his face.
But the smile started fading little by little as a shadow of doubt started creeping in on him.
“I… I cast my first spell!” He announced, nevertheless, with determination.
“Oh that is wonderful!” She smiled. “I’m so proud of you!”
“Mhm!” He nodded. “And Father-, Father said that he’ll spar with me, but … is it… Father is strong and I’m… not that strong…” his eyes averted as his tone faded into a mumble.
“Oh sweetheart,” mother said while reaching for him and pulling him into a hug. “I am certain that some day you’ll be stronger than your father,” she petted his hair. “And your father has excellent mana control, so you’re perfectly safe while sparring with him. I’m sure that he’s looking forward to spending time with you and teaching you all that he knows.”
Leon was sure that there was a lot that father would have to teach him. But he was still a little bit anxious, because he wanted father to be proud of him. So he’d have to do good.
But. He was also determined to do good.
And eventually, the day came when Leon was standing on the training grounds of the Crimson Lion Kings’ headquarters with his father.
“Alright Leon!” Fuegoleon told him. “Cast a spell!”
Leon had watched his father’s knights spar a lot on these training grounds, so he had an idea of what he was supposed to do. And he was supposed to cast his spell towards father, who, he was sure, could take it. Of course Father could. Because Father was strong.
But Leon… he wasn’t sure if he could quite hit from this distance.
However, Father waited patiently, standing perfectly still. So, Leon felt like he could falter either. After all, he had been practicing hard for this day!
So, he put his arms forward, and concentrated!
Only that there was a little flare on his hands, but the flame quickly died out.
…The flame died out, and Leon could feel his heart beating in his chest as tears started collecting into his eyes.
He wanted to spar with Father like the other knights did, but he wasn’t sure if he could! He just… he had barely managed to get his flare shooting a few feet ahead of him and Father was standing… well, a lot further than that. So, he … he didn’t really know what to do.
There was a hand placed on his shoulders, which was when Leon realized that he had been staring at his hands again.
Father crouched down and gave him a little smile. “Are you worried?”
Leon kept his eyes down, because he didn’t really want to admit it, but he’d have to. “I… don’t think I can hit so far..”
“Will you try?” Father asked.
“I can’t,” Leon said while trying to keep the tears at bay by wiping his arms with his arm.
“Leon,” Fuegoleon continued. “Perhaps you might not be able to hit so far yet, but some day you will. In order to get better, you have to try to achieve things that you’re not able to do just yet,” he explained. “Growth exists beyond your comfort zone, and you’re not bad, or failing, for not being, quite yet, able to do something. You’re learning. Everyone needs to learn to do things.”
And it … made sense, to Leon, what Father was saying.
“So, will you try?” Father asked again.
And this time… Leon nodded. Hesitantly, but he did, to which Fuegoleon nodded.
“How far can you cast your spell now?” Father asked, to which Leon couldn’t quite reply.
“How about you cast it once?” Father told him while stepping to Leon’s side. “Go ahead.”
Leon wiped the corner of his eyes once more, and held out his arms once again. This time he’d succeed in casting the spell.
So, he closed his eyes and concentrated. The warm feeling was still there, and it collected into his arms, until… There was that flare, collecting as a fireball, that shot out a few feet ahead of him.
Leon turned his head to look at Father expectedly, and saw Father nod.
“Very good,” he said while walking to where the spell hand landed. “This is where you can cast your spell now,” he drew a line with his boot onto the ground. “And we’re going to improve on it,” he continued while stepping over the line and taking a few steps before turning to face Leon again.
“Again,” Fuegoleon told Leon.
And Leon closed his eyes in deep concentration. He’s just need to be able to shoot the next one further than he did with the first one. Which he would!
He decided that he would!
His brows were furrowed and he focused on his magic the best he could, and …fired!
A small radiant ball of fire shot from his hands closer to father, and landed just by his feet!
Father’s foot lifted, but as he placed it back onto the ground, it landed right onto the edge of where the spell had landed, which made him loose his footing. And he tumbled to the ground, rolling onto his back in the process.
“Oh my!” He said while laying on the ground.
“Papa!” Leon yelled while running to him. “Are you okay Papa?!”
“It seems that I have fallen,” Fuegoleon told Leon while looking at his son, still from the ground. “Your spells are much more potent than you thought, Leon,” he said with a smile.
Leon sat by his father and looked at him with hesitance. “But are you okay Papa?”
“Yes, I’m alright,” he smiled again. “My mana skin saved me.”
Which made Leon’s expression turn in a smile that was a combination of pride and relief. Of course Father wasn’t hurt. He was a great mage after all. But Leon had managed to make Father trip!
“See?” Fuegoleon sat up while wrapping Leon into a hug. “You’ll surpass me someday.”
Father’s tone was warm and proud, and it made Leon smile even wider. He might not have been a great mage like Father yet. But… someday he would be.

i love your fics sm. any tips for ppl learning to write? whats your process like?
ah!!! me??? shucks! thank you so much! i never feel like i am qualified at all to give tips or advice but because you so kindly asked, here are some things that i think guided me to a place i am happy with:
1. write things that you really want to write. not because you think other people want it or because you crave that sweet external validation—which, look. i do. we all do. all the time. it's nothing to be ashamed about. but if you're just starting out writing, try to get excited about it. have fun with it. seriously, the ride will be so much more enjoyable. write that ship, that trope, that AU, that brainworm that won't leave you alone. seize it. write it because goddamn it no one else will
2. read! read some good words and you will absorb good things. pay attention to what you like: phrasing, imagery, etc. borrow them and make them your own.
3. don't underestimate the value of solid grammar and punctuation. i know it's a pain in the ass, i KNOW, but trust me. making your writing look good, at least on a surface level, helps a lot. your writing is a special thing. polish it! it deserves it!
4. if you are comfortable with it, get your fic beta'd. we don't often notice our own mistakes. and showing your raw work to someone else can feel terrifying, believe me, i want to eat my fist every time. but a second pair of eyes is so valuable. ask a trusted friend—another writer, if you know one. someone who can lend you their expertise but also applaud you for your accomplishments.
5. here is a book i love: "Self-Editing for Fiction Writers, 2nd Edition" by Renni Browne and Dave King. i read it a few years ago and still think about the things i learned in it. every point in this book is a point of advice i'd give to anyone else
i hope any of this is useful!! none of this is like, revolutionary advice, but they will give you a good foundation. i also tried to share things that won't dictate you stylistically, because that can differ so much from person to person.
as for my process, OH BOY. do i even have much of a process.... i'll do my best to describe what i do. i'll also have some more points about what drives my own personal writing style, things that i don't necessarily think other people Should do, but serve as the backbone of how i write. under the read more!!! (why is this so long)
it's only in recent years that i've begun writing with any kind of consistency, so i'm kind of figuring out my process Right Now haha. the process varies depending on the length of the fic and the complexity of the idea. but here are the main points:
1. brainstorming: usually i open a google doc and feverishly jot down an idea when i have it. sometimes it's just a few lines. for bigger ideas, i'll outline the whole fic, which is mostly bulletpoints that vary in detail from "they go to this place and talk about their feelings" to full blown detailed written scenes that i can copy/paste wholesale into the fic draft lol. my ideas often spawn from a line of dialogue, an emotion, vague imagery. this is why none of my fics are plot heavy, i am simply incapable
2. drafting the fic: aka The Writing aka the longest and hardest part lol. sometimes it goes so smoothly the words come out of me like a waterfall. other times it's like juicing a rock. i usually write strictly in chronological order, otherwise i never finish. i'm terrible at going back to do the things i skipped because they were hard. in some places i will leave [brackets] to return to certain moments, like if i need to look up a word or figure out the blocking for a fight scene. it's important to maintain the writing flow if i'm in it, so those particular moments i might skip and come back. otherwise i am but a sculptor hacking away at the marble, hoping to find the story underneath
3. editing: tbh i rigorously self-edit as i write which... might be a bad thing but i can't help it. this is editing as in grammar, punctuation, sentence structure. i fuck around with sentence structure so much—flow is really important to me. just, how the words and sentences sound. i know that sounds like, obvious, but i just want the cadence of every paragraph to sound good. varying up sentence lengths, making sure words sound good together, etc. sometimes at this point i will also feel "hmm need more relationship building here" and add more scenes/dialogue
4. send it out for beta: aka the part where i hide under a rock and try not to delete everything i wrote out of fear. it's never as bad as i expect but i'm like this every time. more editing happens, because of course.
5. post the fic: the best part! except then i have to think of a title and summary! fuck!!!!! it's extremely rare that i have these prepared ahead of time. screw me. my titles come from all over the dang place, poetry, songs, etc. i'm trying to write more original titles, and when i do i usually keep them concise, like 1-3 words
so that's like. literally my process which is probably not at all interesting and maybe not what you were hoping to learn about, so some more things that are like, particular to How i write or at least what i think about when i'm writing:
less is more, when it comes to like 99% of things. if i can describe something in 1 word instead of 5 i will do it (unless it is more in-character to be more verbose)
i always write in very close 3rd person POV, so i'm always thinking really hard about how this character is thinking, what they can physically see/hear/feel etc (for example, a character is never thinking about the color of their own eyes. so i wouldn't say like 'cyno blinked his red eyes' if it's in cyno's POV. idk these are the things i think about. it just feels more immersive this way)
make the dialogue feel as natural as possible, while still maintaining control over it as like, a piece of fiction. i often read dialogue again while skipping the narration between lines, just to make sure it still flows naturally. obviously it's not gonna sound 1 to 1 like real life conversation, but at the very least i want readers to feel like they can hear the character's voices
convey emotions through tone, dialogue, and physical cues rather than trying to say it plainly in the narration (i don't do this 100% of the time, but it's a general rule of thumb)
describe the imagery that really matters—what's setting the scene and giving the desired mood? focus on those details instead of cramming the prose with as much description as possible
sometimes you don't need a metaphor. you can just describe the thing itself, and that hits just as hard
what does each character want in a given scene? what's motivating them? does it feel right to give them that thing now, or later?
that is probably too many commas, use a period for god's sake
again, these are just things that motivate my own writing, they're not necessarily things that i think everyone should take to heart. but if it is interesting/helpful for you, then by all means! run away with them! use them, change them, do with them as you see fit. the important thing is the writing. i believe in you! you can do it!!!
this...... is so long what da hell. my bad. i don't even know how this happened. but as you can see i do love talking about writing even though i feel like an imposter all the time. if you have any other questions i am happy to answer them!!! thank you!!!

CFWC Writer of the Month: Takeharryandgo
Tumblr media
Each month CFWC highlights one of our talented fanfic writers, and this month’s writer of the month is @takeharryandgo ! We hope you will enjoy learning more about her and her work below! Writer is selected at random. More info can be found on the navigation page.
Quick Links:
Tumblr Blog: takeharryandgo Tumblr Masterlist
How do you want to be known on Tumblr? Kelsey
1- When did you start playing Choices? What's the first book you played?
What is time? I literally have no sense of the time that has passed since the pandemic, but I do know I started playing Choices shortly before, so it must have been 2019. My first book was Perfect Match, and it set the bar pretty high!
2- When and why did you join Choices fandom?
After a massive betrayal by my bestie @jamespotterthefirst . . . no, jk, I just discovered that she had a secret side-blog dedicated to Choices, for which I had never even considered there might be an entire fandom! I don’t know why I didn’t go looking for one, but I’m very glad I found it! First, I joined because I am contractually obligated to read everything Bree writes, but I’ve stayed for the opportunity to post my own fics and interact with the lovely people here.
3- How did you pick your url name?
Ha, well, I don’t run a Meghan Markle hate blog, contrary to what some may believe ;)  I joined Tumblr in 2011 or 2012 and was active in the Lily/James/Marauders-era corner of the Harry Potter fandom. There were a LOT of us, so it was difficult to find a url that wasn’t already taken. I had to get obscure, lol. So, my url name is a reference to James Potter shouting “Lily, take Harry and go!” before Voldemort kills him, in honor of my favorite tragic idiot.
4- Go back to your archive and tell us about the first post on your Choices blog.
Well, since this is a blog that I’ve had for over a decade...I decided to go back to my first post tagged #Choices as a close proxy. No surprise, it was a fic by @jamespotterthefirst (Adore You). That was Book 2-era, though, so obviously, I must have posted something before then. No doubt it was also Open Heart-related!
5- How long have you been writing fanfiction?
Since college. Ah, the fanfiction.net days....
6- What is your favorite Choices book to write about?
Open Heart, since it is the ONLY one I’ve written about!
7- Share the first fanfic you wrote with us. Do you still like it or would you change anything about it?
Choosing to interpret this as the first Choices fic, because I don’t even want to think about how cringe my VERY first fanfic was.
The first one I posted was Irresistible (nsfw). I’m still happy with it, but if I could change anything, I would make it sluttier 😏
8- What is your favorite fic that you’ve written?
My first Sherlock AU series will always have a special place in my heart 😊 Although I did also feel quite proud about tackling the logistical challenges of writing an actual “choices” fic with The Night Shift.
9- Do you have a fic that you didn’t expect to be well received, but it was? What about one you expected to be but could use a little more love?
I guess I never really go in with any particular expectations, because I know that isn’t the healthiest approach to writing (easier said than done of course!) But I am always surprised and grateful for how many people are willing to stick with series-length fics and see them through to the end!
10- If you could write only angst, fluff, or smut for the rest of your writing life, which would it be and why?
This is like a really tough FMK! For Ethan and Meredith, though, it would have to be smut. I can’t imagine never writing another sexy fic for them again 😔
11- Do you ever recognize yourself in any of your MCs or in your writing?
Oh, definitely! Not necessarily in the major personality traits, but I’ve given Meredith several life details similar to mine (like the fact that she grew up in MN, some of her likes and dislikes, etc.) It makes them easier to remember for one lol, but I also think it felt natural for a Choices MC where the stories are told from the second person point of view. I think she has a bit of my sense of humor, too 😉
12- What element of writing do you struggle with most?
Scene-setting, and emotional descriptions. I’m terrible at finding metaphors that don’t sound cheesy or like I was trying too hard. Writing dialogue flows naturally for me, while the rest is something I have to put more intentional work into. I actually get so caught up in the dialogue sometimes that I have to go back and write narrative or scene transitions after the fact!
13- Do you have any neglected work you really want to finish?
I’m really weird and rarely have multiple WIPs going at once, nor do I have any abandoned fics. I do owe people the third part of my Lawyers AU though!
14- If someone you know in real life (who isn’t involved in fandoms) asked to read your work, would you let them? If yes, what would you recommend they read first?
NOPE
15 - Are there any writers (published authors and/or fanfic writers) who influenced your writing?
I’m not sure! I tend to like mystery/thriller/crime writing, but cannot write those genres to save my life lol. I don’t think I’ve explicitly tried to model any particular kind of author. For much of my life I probably would have said JKR, but.... 😬
As far as fanfic writers, I always try to channel Bree’s brilliant use of metaphors, but usually fail miserably lmao.
16- Which one of your stories would you most like to see as a movie/series?
Gotta go with the Sherlock AU again! That would be brilliant.
17- Do you write original stories?
Only when I was younger. My best friend in middle school and I had a whole series planned, where we were each writing about characters in the same invented universe who would eventually meet. The premise was two sisters separated at birth who end up being raised in separate countries that go to war with each other. Each sister disguises herself as a boy to join the army (we were both really into the Song of the Lioness series by Tamora Pierce at the time), and naturally end up marrying the princes of their respective countries, as well as discovering the connection to each other. They are then the key players in bringing peace between the two nations 😂. We had full, detailed timelines planned out and everything. And I’d written a good part of a first book, all by hand in a notebook with different colored gel pens 😆. I transcribed it into Word at one point and it was over 100 pages! But 100 pages of extremely terrible, pre-teen writing.
18 -  What other hobbies do you have?
Is watching Netflix a hobby? 😆
Between working full-time and taking care of a house (which I am very privileged to have, and don’t take for granted, but I’ve also discovered that being a homeowner is a LOT of work), I don’t really feel like I have the energy for much else! When I do have free time, I like taking walks with my dog, going on bike rides with my husband (summer) or snowshoeing (winter), playing piano, baking, and spending time with friends or family.
19 - What’s your favorite emoji?
I think I use this one a lot 🥰
20: BONUS - tell us anything you’d like (if you want to).
I’m so grateful for @jerzwriter and @lucy-268 and the many others who go WAY above and beyond to keep this fandom engaged and connected! I honestly don’t know where you find the energy (see my answer to 18 lol), especially since some of you are also raising kids! I know I do the bare minimum to stay engaged here, and I’m so in awe of those who take the time to do much, much more.

Book 2: Leviathans, Part 3: The Darkness is DONE! There are only two sections left. I think I might actually finish the fic in 2024?!??!
There's going to be a little break as I sort out Part 4: The Wasteland. Hopefully not too long of a break, I'm hoping less than a month before I start putting out chapters again!
I think The Wasteland will cap out at 7-8 chapters - so shorter than the other sections in Book 2, and also the most complex from a behind-the-scenes perspective, as it's tying up a lot of lore & plot threads. Writing this section is a lot of fun right now! I'm past all the agonizing and second-guessing as I tried to reconcile all of the TOTK lore, and I have a really solid outline that I feel great about. So it's mostly just a matter of pushing through. MAN is it satisfying to see all the little seeds I've been planting finally sprout! (Thank god for Scrivener's side-by-side window function, absolute lifesaver for me and my hamster-length memory recall.)
P.S. Don't worry, The Wasteland won't be complex and difficult from a reader perspective. A large part of the work going into this section is making sure it reads well and is easy to follow. As always: you won't need to be 'terminally online marinating in 30 years of Zelda lore' to understand what's going on, AND there will be lots of lore easter eggs for those who love them ( ಠ ͜ʖರೃ)
