explaining a oc thing I made for undertale (or any fandom really)

I’ve made some videos about them on my tiktok if u wanna see them! Kinda wanna make this a ARG or smth

silly guy named [REDACTED] is not from anywhere, technically their outside it all. Their only limit to existence is technology, not able to leave devices but can travel within it.

[REDACTED] is an entity really, and entities can go into fandoms and insert themselves into it as a character. But it acts more as a vessel for them, they do this for many reasons.

Food (different entities feed off of different things, emotions, attention, etc.)

For their or the viewers entertainment (they are aware they’re being watched)

they need a home and a fandom or place, it helps them exist.

they get a attachment or infatuated with the fandom or character(s)

some entity’s can take a liking to a character so much they insert themselves into the characters body, altering them depending how good they are at possessing someone:

if they’re sloppy it’s fairy obvious since the character will have some features the entity had.

if they a expert you wouldn’t notice any changes aside from small habits that can be brushed off.

all entities have a ‘human’ form, or at least a form that fits into the world’s aesthetic they’re currently in. So they can’t change Willy nilly into whatever they want, it’s either their true form or their human form.

[REDACTED] didn’t have a home to settle in for a while, hopping between several that none caught their eye. But eventually found UNDERTALE, the one world they became infatuated with.

[REDACTED] forcefully inserted themselves into that timeline, altering the memories of the characters into believing they’ve been friends for years even though they just met.

But of course eventually thanks to sans natural awareness he was able realise [REDACTED] wasn’t the friendly human they made themselves seem thanks to the slip ups they constantly made.

he couldn’t remember how they met, when they moved in with sans and his brother. Whenever he calls their ‘name’ (rad) they are often slow to respond, as if it’s not their real name.

when [REDACTED] see’s he’s catching on they immediately ‘reset’ the world, how they do this is by killing all the characters and then rebuild them from the pieces. altering the world and the characters slightly each time so they only remember what they want them to remember

it’s basically this video here

Y/n is a entity that lives in undertale before [REDACTED] had came along, though y/n did not know they weren’t originally from this world and also a entity, this whole time they thought themselves human.

[REDACTED] Watches from the sidelines when y/n’s vessel dies of old age due to being so convinced their human their body follows along with the role. A entities mindset affects their life gradually.

[REDACTED] re-inserts themselves into sans life to ‘bring y/n back to life’ despite not particularly liking them, only doing it to bring out the vulnerable feelings of sans desperately trying to get his lover back, At the cost of [REDACTED] possessing his body slowly over time.

ofc [REDACTED] isn’t really gonna bring y/n back, making sans have false hope and a reason he can’t leave [REDACTED] or else there’s no chance to bring back y/n

During this phase whenever sans messes up or tries to stop [REDACTED] will kill him before resetting and trying to start again, each time the universe is a bit more different than the original. And each time sans remember’s the resets and what [REDACTED] did to him bit by bit

whenever sans dies he briefly meets y/n in limbo, and always forgets about it when he’s brought back.

eventually sans remembers too much and actually snaps from the intense feelings and having a part of what [REDACTED] in him, sans was tipped over the edge and killed [REDACTED] by pushing them off the bridge, making it look like a suicide.

traumatised with awareness of the resets, how he’ll never get y/n back, just killing someone AND having a piece of that person still inside you sans slowly started to succumb to the urges [REDACTED] still had over him through the unfinished possessing thingy.

sans is unfortunately able to see visions and hallucinations of [REDACTED] so commonly he’s only annoyed by it at this point, kinda like dust sans and papyrus.

sans doesn’t tell anyone about this and keeps it to himself while [REDACTED] slowly takes over him.

Who are the hostages still held by Hamas?

On October 7, 2023, 253 Israelis and foreign nationals were kidnapped to Gaza by Hamas and gazan civilians. Since then, 105 were released in a prisioner exchange deal, 4 were released by Hamas and 3 were rescued.

However, 134 remain in captivity (4 of those were kidnapped prior to 2023). A recent investigation has concluded that more than a fifth of the hostages are dead and the fate of some other hostages remains unknown. This video explains how doctors determine which hostages are dead, based on the nature of their injury and by analyising footage and the victims' last phone calls. Additionally, during the operation in Gaza, the IDF has recovered the bodies of a few victims and returned to their families for burial.

Since I couldn't find this all in one place, I've compiled a list of: 1) hostages who are presumed alive; 2) hostaged whose death has been reported/confirmed; 3) hostages who were released or rescued. In the group of hostages presumed to be alive who haven't been released, the youngest is 1-year-old Kfir Bibas and the oldest hostage is Iraqi-born 85-year old Shlomo Mansour.

As we learn more information, I'll continue to update this post.

They need to come back home. I'm hoping for more successful rescue operations soon. Keep them in your thoughts.

not-quite-Homestuck AU news and designs

first of all, big thank you to everyone who's shown support to this silly idea of mine. And yes, it's decided now! it will get made!! The estimated premiere date is April 13 for no particular reason

in the remaining time i'm going to figure out and post the designs for the players and explain some things about this project under readmores. So here goes the first batch!

about the game they're playing:

So first things first, the game i've decided they're going to be playing is basically Double Life²

my reasoning for this is:

it's great at encouraging teamups that wouldn't normally happen

it'll provide great opportunities for randomization and reader input

it was one of the shortest and least populated seasons

i want more of it dammit

but no worries, there will be a new twist or two added :3c and also new people. And all the soulbond pairs will be re-assigned

(this is probably as good of a place to mention that in my version all the players retain memories between sessions. B/c i thought it would be fun for them to have baggage)

One Piece Crack Ship War - Submission post!

Welcome to the One Piece Ship War - crack edition!

What is a crack ship?

A crack ship is a (in this case romantic/sexual) ship that has little to no basis in canon.

When will my ship qualify for this tournament?

They will automatically qualify (after having been submitted) when:

The characters involved have NO canon interaction*, and are not part of the same crew (no matter how popular the ship is).

The characters involved have 1 short canon interaction and less than 10 fics for them on AO3 (as a side pairing counts too)

They might qualify if:**

They have no canon interaction but are part of the same crew or organisation.

They have 1 short canon interaction but more than 10 fics on AO3

They have 1 long canon interactions or 2/3 short ones and less than 10 fics on AO3

They have multiple canon interactions but NO fics on AO3

It's an incredibly funny ship (but you gotta convince me it's crack!)

These ships will not qualify on principal:

ANY ship between Strawhats (honorary Strawhats don't count if they haven't met a certain Strawhat - examples: BrookNami does not qualify, SanjiVivi does not qualify, but BrookVivi would qualify)

The top 25 ships (or something, be sensible) on AO3.

*canon interactions include fillers, cover stories, specials, and movies (though I haven't seen the last 2 yet and I don't remember much of the other ones, so these might slip through, but I'm counting on you to honor this rule). Also, I won't know nor check interactions in the manga (that haven't been animated yet), so something might slip through there as well. Just honor the rules, please.

**Any ships in the 'might qualify' category will be judged on crackyness by me first, and when I'm in doubt, I will put them up for a vote - so expect a few polls for this.

Rules!

All characters must be from One Piece (no OCs).

Must be a crack ship according to above guidelines.

Ships that were in the previous shipping war tournament are allowed in this one too, as long as they follow the previous rule.

No moral limitations. These are fictional characters, not real people. Go wild. (But be prepared for 'problematic' ships to be voted out in round 1 or 2.) I will not start discourse/moral discussions about any ships! (messages about morally questionable ship are likely to be ignored and deleted)

Poly ships are allowed! I will cap them at 5 characters, however, and at least 1 character should follow the interaction rules stated above. (examples: JinbeRobinBrook or KidLawLu are not allowed. RobinNamiKiller would be allowed, on grounds of Killer having no interactions with the other 2 (I think? 😂)) Again, be sensible here.

All characters involved have to be humanoid. No concepts, objects, or full animals (fishmen/merfolk, minks, and Chopper are allowed).

You can submit multiple ships, but use a new form for each ship.

Do not hate on other ships, just support your own.

You are allowed and encouraged to submit fanart! As a lot of these ship won't have official art with all characters in it, it will come down to fanart for the most of it ((bad) edits are also very much allowed). However, it needs to be your own or you need permission from the artist before submitting it! However, if you haven't gotten permission yet when submitting, you can always send me a link to the fanart later. Without picture submitted, there might be a chance your ship will have to compete without a picture.

Keep the main images SFW and spoiler free. Propaganda can contain nsfw stuff and manga spoilers, as long as it's announced up front (eg: [Spoilers ahead]/[nsfw ahead])

I know I’m a chronic overthinker but I’ve been in the same fandom for three years or so now and I was reflecting that writing seemed so much easier when I first started out. Just looking at my output since 2021 shows a clear trend: I’ve been writing much less and it’s been taking me way longer.

I figured that I’d gotten a little burned out and that three years is a long time to focus solely on the same two guys making out and that there’s a limit to the number of situations I can put them in before I start to get bored. But I don’t think that’s quite my problem because even now, a million years later, I have ideas for dozens of fics and AUs that would be interesting to explore or funny to write.

No, it’s that I’ve let the larger fandom overwhelm me and it’s left me constantly second-guessing my writing. And I don’t mean that I’ve gotten nasty comments or asks, because I haven’t! All the other fans have been consistently wonderful and fun people with really valuable insights. And it’s not that I’ve been obsessing over stats or comments or worrying about going against popular headcanons. I mean, I’m just as excited as anyone else to see an AO3 email in my inbox but I’m also perfectly happy posting niche fics for an audience of me and my three weirdest friends.

It’s more that after so long engaging with other fans and other fics and the general meta, I’ve ended up writing too self-consciously. I’ve read so many interpretations of canon events, analyses of characterization and comparisons between fiction and real-world politics over the years, and I’ve enjoyed them because I genuinely care about these stories and these characters! I like seeing what everyone else thinks and then considering their points of view, no matter how bewildering they might seem at first.

But now it feels like I’m writing almost defensively, like I have to justify every choice I’m making based on this enormous and contradictory body of information. Three years ago I’d have written a scene in a few thousand words and moved on to the next plot point with my momentum intact. Now I’m constantly wringing my hands over things like physical details (I guess he’s not exactly a redhead) or broader social implications (is this trope misogynistic?) or finicky logistics (these locations are too far apart for this scene to make sense) or controversial character nuance (does writing this guy as a kind, doting husband make me an abuse apologist???) and the result is that I’m paralyzed with indecision and a ridiculous need to support everything I write with a lot of context that isn’t especially fun to write or, I suspect, especially fun to read.

I’m aware that this problem is entirely in my own head and that no one has asked me for any of this. And it’s not that all those questions aren’t interesting and important things to contemplate. But I miss the days of sitting down at my laptop and going “wouldn’t it be funny if these dorks played a video game together?” and then writing exactly that.

I don’t know. Were my fics better three years ago? I kind of doubt it. I’ve looked back at some of them and if nothing else I now have a better grasp of what tense I’m supposed to be using. But I definitely had more fun writing those older stories, which maybe feels more important.
