Who are the hostages still held by Hamas?
On October 7, 2023, 253 Israelis and foreign nationals were kidnapped to Gaza by Hamas and gazan civilians. Since then, 105 were released in a prisioner exchange deal, 4 were released by Hamas and 3 were rescued.
However, 134 remain in captivity (4 of those were kidnapped prior to 2023). A recent investigation has concluded that more than a fifth of the hostages are dead and the fate of some other hostages remains unknown. This video explains how doctors determine which hostages are dead, based on the nature of their injury and by analyising footage and the victims' last phone calls. Additionally, during the operation in Gaza, the IDF has recovered the bodies of a few victims and returned to their families for burial.
Since I couldn't find this all in one place, I've compiled a list of: 1) hostages who are presumed alive; 2) hostaged whose death has been reported/confirmed; 3) hostages who were released or rescued. In the group of hostages presumed to be alive who haven't been released, the youngest is 1-year-old Kfir Bibas and the oldest hostage is Iraqi-born 85-year old Shlomo Mansour.
As we learn more information, I'll continue to update this post.
They need to come back home. I'm hoping for more successful rescue operations soon. Keep them in your thoughts.

Note
I obsessively read hostages’ testimonies and imagine myself in their places because it could have been me, how dare I stay safe in the diaspora while my Israeli sisters are living in hell? I wish I had the strength to not read the testimonies because they are destroying me inside but I feel I need to. And I am losing my mind

During what was actually a precise and limited operation within Nasser Hospital that led to the apprehension of some 200 terrorists - some of whom were disguised as members of the hospital staff - was a painful but unsurprising discovery: Last month, Israel allowed medical supplies into the territories in exchange for guarantees that medicines needed by the hostages held by Hamas would be delivered. After concluding a search in Nasser Hospital, the Israeli soldiers found - and photographed - medicines which were supposed to be delivered to the hostages, their names and photos still on the packaging. According to some media reports, these medicines were not among those transferred by Israeli authorities, but part of a complex, separate arrangement made via unnamed European countries.
While some media outlets grudgingly included this detail, others left it out entirely, presumably because it undermines their narrative that portrayed the Palestinians as the victims of relentless Israeli aggression. The fact that Hamas is so barbaric that it did not keep its word regarding delivering lifesaving medicines to innocent civilians they took as hostage directly undermines the calls for a new deal that would call for a permanent ceasefire.

ISRAELI HOSTAGE TO THE OCCUPATION: "DO WHAT IS EXPECTED OF YOU AND BRING US HOME IMMEDIATELY"
📹 "Do what is expected of you and bring us home immediately, or has this become too big for you?"
An Israeli hostage of Hamas demands action to bring home detainees like himself and restore peace to Palestine after 201 days of bombardment and blockade in the Gaza Strip with no end in sight.

the "hamas actually treated their hostages really well" talking point is INSANE to me do you even hear yourselves? i don't care if these people were/are dining at the fucking ritz every night, do y'all know the amount of pain and turmoil these communities have been in for the past two months??? a friend of mine doesn't even know if her son is still ALIVE. a gilded cage is still a fucking cage, and it's still horrifying that these people are being held against their will. period, end of discussion

Girl paraded in Gaza beaten by people until she died.

Yes, the terrorist group who kidnapped them treated them so well.

A dear close friend of mine (25+ year friendship, we have the same hobbies and sense of humor, often buy little knicknacks for each other as jokes) posted to his blog about how the Hamas hostages are better off there than living in Israel, that they befriended Hamas and were even flirting with them.  He and I have never discussed Jewish stuff, ever.  He doesn't know I read his blog and I have never mentioned it to him or commented / reblogged at all.  He has always been very kind to me and never said anything extremist.  I feel like I'm not "supposed" to be seeing it - I certainly don't invite him to see my Jewish-stuff blog.  Am I snooping on his private thoughts, when almost nobody else reading his blog knows who he actually is?  I think of bringing it up to him and can already hear the argument, can already feel the anger and denial and hurt.  I fight the argument in my head and get exhausted, purely by myself, feeling like our friendship has already ended.  I am devastated by how many good, normal people hate us and want us to die.
