Day 13 of my challenge, as a new experiment I decided to make a siren/merperson picture. My hand is nearly healed thankfully. I am glad for how far I have come.

The planning page for the mermaid illustration from earlier!

The "Dec. 4 (Technically)" is because I drew this at like 12 am or so. The actual drawing was done this morning, at a much more reasonable time.

[Image ID: A sketchbook page at a slight tilt. There are a collection of drawings, mostly in pencil. In the top right corner there are circles of various marker colors. I will describe the drawings from top left to bottom right. A pencil sketch of a mermaid tail in a spring-like position. A sketch of a faceless head with twin buns whose scrunchie is made of small hearts, elf ears with dangly heart earrings, a black choker, two tendrils of hair separated from the rest with a heart-shaped hair clip, and long flowing hair. The words "Fruit?" and "Pet?" are both crossed out. Directly below them is a marker colored drawing of the bottom half of a pink shirt, a white and black checkered belt with a red buckle, the hole of which is heartzshaped, and two chains coming from it, on of which ends in a heart, the other wraps around and back to the belt. Also coming from the belt is a magenta piece of fabric with black stripes vertically and horizontally. There is a purple skirt that would probably be knee length on a human, with pink-purple frills coming from the bottom. A tail comes out of the skirt, blue green with green fins and a red chain. The fins are pierced with a chain which ends in a heart. To the right of this are the words "Kawaii Punk" and "Dec. 4 (Technically)". Below that is a pencil sketch which is colored with marker than bled through from the other page. It is a simpler and shorter version of the skirt and a more detailed version of the shirt, which now has big T-Shirt sleeves and a heart-shaped boobe window. The tail is uncolored and longer. There are 4 small stick figures surrounding it. Circled is a mermaid with hands on face, a blissful expression, and slightly curled tail. There is also a mermaid yelling into their hand, the other arm raised above their head head and ta curled behind them. To the bottom left there is a shocked looking mermaid facing the right, who reaches out with one hand, tail relaxed. The last stick figure is a mermaid just barely not facing the camera, winking and holding up a peace sign. The final drawing is in the bottom left and uncolored. It is more detailed than the others, being all the other drawings put together into one drawing. One hand is on the hip, the other relaxed. She smirks slightly. End ID]

I just want to share some random things before starting with what I really want to do xd

More mermaids!! I feel like I’m coming back to my former self when it comes to drawing. Like, uugh this 3+ years without drawing really hit me hard and I felt slowly slipping away. But hey! I’m getting there :D

I still did end up drawing a mermaid or two for mermay, and this traditional sketch of one was one I felt rather happy with, along with their little ribbon eel friend.

I will most likely color it traditionally, but now I have the option of finishing it in Clip Studio too.
