I don't see a lot of Micolash and Mergo but it's one of my fav headcanons ever that this mf just spends his time in Mensis babysitting a Great One. I like exploring both Mergo and his Wet Nurse as characters beyond just Being There and I think a good way to do that is through them interacting with the Mensis lads because. That's literally what they came for.

Seek an audience with Mergo? Sure thing Mico just make sure Mergo doesn't barf on ur sleeve

Canonically he would be a TERRIBLE babysitter but let me have this......let them have a quiet moment

So, lemme get this straight:

The 'brain' of the Nightmare was the Brain of Mensis, who belonged to 'Mensis', thus making it originally their Nightmare.

However, after it connected with Mergo (said to be the child of Queen Yharnam and Oeden, another Great One [a deity] like Mensis), it stillbirthed their brains.

Next, we had Micolash, the Host. Personally, I believe him to be the 'lungs' of the Nightmare, allowing it to be sustained.

After he was killed, it's why the Nightmare didn't collapse yet, as he is not the 'source'.

Next, we enter the part of the Nightmare belonging to Mergo, the Loft.

At the top, one fights Mergo's Wet Nurse, the 'ribcage'. The last line of defense, and perhaps also the 'blood' of the Nightmare.

Finally, after she is killed, Mergo, the 'heart', dies, allowing the Nightmare to end.

At least until you discover the Fishing Hamlet in the DLC.

2. Did you always like this character?

Honestly... Not really. Firstly, on the moonside lake I was confused. I didn't know anything about her lore. But later...

11. How did you “fall in love” with this character?

...I found out how cool and powerful girlboss she is! And the ultimate reason why I love her was the moment when I confronted her in boss fight. I totally fall in love with powerful badass undead queen who uses blood magic and does evil laugh!

13. If you could draw effortlessly and as much as you wanted, what scene (s) would you draw for this character?

I've been thinking about a certain scene for a long time. But it would require the ability to draw side-face and choose the right colors... And that's something I don't feel I'm skilled enough to draw this lol

So I've been thinking about her and Mergo in style of Rosemary's child movie poster. And based on this I headcanoned about Queen Yharnam being in similar situation like Rosemary. She felt that everyone was hiding something and gaslighting her about her unborn child. In the end, it turned out that Mergo was a blood child (just as Rosemary's child turned out to be the Antichrist) and everyone around her belonged to some kind of cult. Of course, this is just headcanon that would be a short horror fanfic, and I think that in reality Yharnam knew everything about her child.

Btw this scene looks cool for redraw too (in this scene, Rosemary looked at her demonic child and screamed with fear and despair. But then she went to the cradle and soothed the crying child. You see, after all this horror and fear, after it turned out that her child was a demon, she decided take care of him. A real mom! ♥️ I love this scene so much!)

Thinking about the Yharnam stone you get from killing Queen Yharnam is essentially a Stone Baby, or lithopedion. Really rare in real life, but it can happen when a fetus too large for the woman's body to reabsorb dies. To protect the woman from infection from the dead tissue, the body calcifies it and can remain undetected for years.

After defeating Queen Yharnam you go around carrying the corpse of Mergo as a trophy it seems like.

Meet my OC Avin! ^^ He is one of the earliest OCs I made for my world. You can see that I redesigned him multiple times, with the 2020 Design being the earliest and the top one (2022) being the most recent. I am really happy with his most recent Design. Some short info on him:

He is a young vampire of a socially high ranking (one could say noble) family.

His left arm was amuptated, he has several prosthetics for it.

He has two brothers and one sister, all older than him.

His family life is...complicated. Avin only has a good relationship with his sister. I don't want to spam too much info about him here, that could be annoying. xD But if you want to know more, feel free to ask. ^^

So mergo, black fire light of my life, has been weird recently. Constantly mewling. Wanting to be cuddled. Trying to lead me somewhere to tell me something. So I took him to the vet where he was diagnosed with.... loving me too much.

He's perfect and I paid £57 for the privilege of being told I got a good grade in cat ownership, a normal thing to want and actually something you can achieve.

spore savant face markings, not meant for dunmer...

I have been OBSESSED with the spore savant face markings for months now, trying to get all components of the antiquity to finally unlock them, and after realizing (almost too late) that the infinite archive has the piece i'd been missing, i finally got ahold of my beloved mushroom makeup.

However,

I wanted this mushroom makeup for my dunmer... This is what she normally looks like (in this with the 'eyes of the scamp' contacts).

As you can see, she has dark dunmeri skin in warm medium greys. The spore savant face markings, which in lore are dunmer markings made for dunmer mushroom-mages, are NOT designed for characters with dark skin.

OBSERVE:

"What's the problem" You may be thinking. Well let's just spell it out for you, rather than getting a close look there at the weird light outlines, by showing how these markings look on my altmer:

looks fine.

ALSO, all the people who were putting up previews of what the spore savant head markings looked like only showed them on white humans and altmer (whose darkest skin tones are still unfortunately extremely light like my boy up there). For example, uesp shows a beautiful image of these markings having gorgeous orange and deep browns in them on their character. Am I blaming any of these preview people for only showing the markings on one single skintone? NO. Besides, 'eso.mmo-fashion' was the only place I could find that used to show these things on multiple species but that site no longer updates.

So why do these markings look like nice face art on light skin, but festering open sores on my dark-skinned dunmer? Because of transparency! Zos has been making a lot of body art items transparent, which looks nice on light skin, but horrendous (if it shows up at all) on dark skin. For this one in particular, as my sister pointed out "It's like they did the opposite of what you're supposed to do and made the lighter orange solid and the brown transparent".

It really feels as though zos went out of their way to make these markings look ugly on dark skin.

which is eXTRA wild considering they're markings BY elves with darker skin, FOR elves with darker skin.
