could you explain the use of Spanish subs on the nervous Rebe gifset? (non-Spanish speaker here, and hoping to understand her nerves) thank you!! :)

Hi! I am not a Spanish speaker as well. But if you compare the Spanish and English versions, the former is more frantic.

The op mentioned Rebeka’s use of “pues” multiple times. I looked on Google and it means “well.” Probably comparable to “uh” or “um.”

If you watch this clip (the scene starts halfway through the video), you see Rebe is speaking really fast, almost mashing up her words together towards the end of her sentence. She’s so obviously nervous. It’s really amusing. Mencia really seems to think so as well. A lot of that is lost if you just read the English translation.

Credit to All the Lilies on YouTube for making this menbeka playlist with English subs. I had to watch it in order to forget the fuckery that was most of season four.

Edit: When I rewatch the menbeka scenes, I actually don’t even turn on the English subs anymore. I’ve seen it enough times to have enough of an idea of what’s going on and what they’re saying. I pay more attention now to the subtleties. I miss a lot from reading the subs. There’s so much more going on in the scene, a touch, a raising of an eyebrow, a look. Those inform the scene too.
