How do the girls get along

Pretty great actually!

Jenny and Kim are very good/close friends, since they met relatively early compared to others (they actually met each other first out of everyone, then others at one point and another) and had a shared adventure sometime after the ends of their respective shows (wink wonk).

But, their first meeting was not actually very um, positive. There was some conflict, but after it was resolved both of them gained a very solid friend for life!

Jenny, was glad to meet someone else (beside Brad) who treated her like a person/normal teenager (instead of an 8th wonder of the world or a freaky robot) and not to mention she got a fellow superheroine girl friend! After Misty, she kind of missed having someone like that to kick butt with (considering that like, 70% of her friends are dudes) or just hang out.

Kim was fascinated by Jenny, not because she is a robot (tho she does think its pretty cool) but because it kind of gave her a contrast to her own life in a weird way? Like, Kim was a normal teenager who got into superheroing on accident and just went with it, while Jenny was created with a goal of being Earth's defender but rebeled to have some sort of normal life. And now they both live those weird semi-normal lives, that led them to meeting each other.

Jun is around 5-6 years their junior and while they met each other much later on, when Jun was a little older (like not 11-12 age of the show), she still kind of looked up to them and both Jenny and Kim felt an instant kinship with the girl.

Before she met Jenny and Kim, Jun only knew a couple other guys as fellow heroes/magical protectors (guess who ;D lol), and while she had plenty of female role models (Ama/Jasmine being the most prominent) and friends, she kind of enjoyed meeting some cool older superheroines to bond with! It also helped that despite the age difference, both Jenny and Kim never looked down at her when it came to superheroing/fighting, but respected her abilities and expertise (considering that Jun was practically an apprentice to her Ama since at least 8-9ish of age, when her powers first awakened, she has a lot of experience).

They both are kind of like cool older cousins to her, who travel a lot for their work and come visit to hang out often and tell/share stories about their adventures. Their and her lines of work while similar, also run in completely different circles (human/interplanetary vs magical/supernatural), so its always a treat to hear about the things they do.

(And yes sometimes she feels jealous about the fact that both of them get to travel all over the world, and despite the developments, more often than not she has to stay town locked and limit her excursions to magical realms.)

Silly thing, but Jun absolutely adores Jenny, for one simple fact that she can travel to space just like that (she and Danny, fellow astronaut/space fans, share that, despite the fact that Danny kinda can travel to space just like that too.)

There are some things that all troopers know Nat born's will never understand.

All the troopers grew up in a world where perfection was the standard and anything less resulted in death. Where individuality was a crime and being anything more than just another number was a danger, Where saying the wrong thing in front of the wrong person could get you killed.

All troopers know this, but post Kamino the Guards have had it drilled into them all over again. If they want to survive In the Senate they have to fall back on the lessons they learned on Kamino.

The Corries know that there are some things that nat born's will never understand. Things that Nat born's shouldn't understand.

So no one in the guard quite knows how to feel about the strange fallout of the Shiney squad's Jetti Cadets apparent discovery of the Guards position on Courcant.

It starts small, the guard notices that the boy stops being weird about the fact that most of the Corries don't use their names, when asked, the boys. "It's because I know that you have them now." raises more questions than answers, because apparently the boy just figured out that they used their designation numbers around the Senate because their names were a secret on his own. He also seemed to get an unreasonable amount of joy from the fact that all the clones chose their own names.

If it has stopped there then it probably wouldn't be so weird, but it didn't. From sneaking in extra medical supplies and food, (actual food, not just ration bars) when he discovered that 'depur' was cutting their budget for stuff that they needed to function, to the way he seemed to intrinsically understand their need for secrecy, and their reasoning for it. "secrets keep us safe." Without anyone seemingly telling him.

They all agreed that they weren't gonna ask about how the boy had managed to rangle several senators around to the truth of the situation and his point of view with only a few words to one of them. A point of view that not only had them working on trooper sentient rights bills, but also had them aiding in his more under the table helping.

At first it was weird and confusing, both because this kid was a nat born, and because how did a Jetti Cadet develop this kind of understanding, he was a child. It took them a while to connect the dots, Even as the boy started unconsciously dropping hints.

At first it was that weird little nickname he had for the Senate and Senators, in a language that even the most nerdy of Corries didn't seem to understand. They weren't sure what a Depur was, but apparently it applied to the Senate and was probably not a good thing.

The next clue was the stories, because as Anakin spent more time with the guard, becoming more of a Vod'ika than a Jetti Commander and subsequently beginning to learn more and more about the secrets that they kept from the rest of the Senate.

As the boy learnt about the lighter side of the inner workings of the guard, and how to speak the clones particular brand of Mando'a, the guards began to learn stories about Ekkreth, Leia and Ar Amu, stories about secret plots and tricking the The infamous Depur in ways that resulted in the freedom of those he enslaved.

About secret Languages, Tzai, Jappor snippets and secret rituals. About the ways one could steal back some control from the Masters in ways that they would never even notice. About things that the boy claimed that all Slaves should know, lessons that would help keep them safe from their Masters. A term that by now the guards suspended was not referring to the kind the Jedi had.

By the time the boy causally mentioned that he and his mother had been enslaved prior to him being taken to the temple, the Guards already had a pretty decent picture of the situation.

The fact that the boy had been adopting them into his own culture right under their noses had been vastly more surprising. He'd been a little awkward when he'd admitted it. Saying that he knew that they were sort of Mando'ade, but they could be Amavikka too if they wanted.

And sure, maybe it was a little dark that part of the reason the boy spent so much time in the barracks was because it felt familiar, but also this kid cared about every single one of them, to the point where he apparently sees them as family.

Well it really was no wonder that it was agreed that the entire guard would do just about anything for their Ad'ika. Including possibly stopping said Ad'ika from doing the same for them. (Bloody Skywalkers)

For the Book Rec Exchange: Have you read Half Magic by Edward Eager? That was one of my favorites growing up, and I never hear anyone talking about it!

It's about four siblings in the 1920s (? the movies in the theaters are silent films) who discover a magic trinket that grants wishes (with a catch), in a similar vein to E. Nesbit's Five Children and It or The Phoenix and the Carpet. (In fact, I think the children in this book reference those stories!) I just love their misadventures and the way they really feel like siblings.

And if you like what you read, Edward Eager wrote six more books about these kids, their children, and more magical adventures!

I actually have, but it's been a very long time and I don't remember much about it, so if you're willing for it to be a reread, I'll take you up on it. Thank you!

today on: little xc3 moments i think about way too much

the scene in maktha where the gang is informed about the annihilator and the shit going on at the castle so they decide to take a detour from their route to the city to take it down. and eunie is the most reluctant to agree to this plan because she just had that conversation with mio about her lifespan and doesn’t want her to lose any more time because she finally understands her and her situation better now but she relents upon seeing how determined mio is to take action, despite being entirely aware of how long it could take.

it’s SO good. it’s reminiscent of the scene in fornis where taion and sena try to convince everyone to take the quicker but more dangerous route because they don’t want mio to waste time, putting what they think she needs over what she actually wants. which isn’t necessarily a bad thing as they want to do what they believe would be best for mio. but at the same time eunie/lanz decide on the slower, safer option without a second thought because this is so early in the story and they haven’t fully become friends with the agnus half at this point.

yet later, in maktha, focus is put on eunie’s hesitation Because she’s become friends with mio, realising the full gravity of the situation, and being confided in that mio is actually more afraid than she lets on (and eunie, too, is more than intimate with fear in the face of death). but eunie agrees to go along, anyway, because she understands that it’s what her friend wants, and that matters more than anything else

#it’s just. i love how this isn’t a game where the party goes along with stuff because they’re the party and it’s what they do #they don’t just do stuff because they’re the protagonist’s yes-men #but they all have their own unique takes and feelings on situations like mio’s #and the scenes between them where we watch the group get closer with each other is what makes stuff like chapter 5 hit even harder #the other five party members have all built up their friendships with mio. even lanz. when in most games #characters like them would probably barely exchange a couple words with each other.#and the whole group is so down and devastated during the whole ch5 sequence BECAUSE they care about mio #not because ‘well the jrpg party has to be sad’. no. actual work is put into building up these relationships and dynamics #anyway. tags could be a whole post on their own and i might do that someday. but today is not that day #xenoblade chronicles 3

thinking abt the Valinor-era Sibling “Politics” of the fëanorions and how they must have been Absolutely Byzantine with Seven of them

i’m one of three which means that my strat when i wanted something we didn’t all agree on was always to figure out which of my brothers would be most easily convinced to side with me, and then argue, plead, cajole, and appeal to spite if all else failed in the hopes that i could get One person on my side which would automatically win me the argument by the magic or Majority Rule

in a group of seven, you only need three siblings to agree with you for a simple majority, but then there’s the dynamics of age, factionalism, and also the arguments within smaller groups must have been INSANE

Damian and Selina barely even have a relationship in canon. Based on the very few interactions they had they at best tolerate each other with Selina showing little interest in being a mother figure for him and Damian still hoping for his parents to get back together/feeling threatened by the possibility of Bruce having a child with Selina that could replace him in his father's eyes.

Gotham War does suffer from several questionable writing choices, but Damian siding with Bruce in this conflict and openly stating that Selina isn't his mother is not one of them.

#I never got the feeling that either of them is truly interested in the other #Even in Damian's prelude to the wedding story it was more them forming a truce because they thought Selina would become his stepmother #And they would have to live in the same house #Are the wedding tie-ins even canon?#There were so many contradictions between them and King's main story #Like why was Damian even getting an outfit for the wedding even though he wasn't invinted?#Like according to King's plot it was just going to be Bruce Selina Alfred Holly and I think Clark on that rooftop with a drunk priest #To have a not legally binding exchange of wedding vows #While the tie-ins for the batfamily members all acted like there was going to be a real wedding and they were going to attend #But then none of them are even mentioned in Batman 50

kevin party is THE MOST underrated su episode. it’s comedically so. so good and gets put at the bottom of so many tier lists by people who don’t get it. kevin’s whole schtick is hilarious as hell like thinking steven is 7 and can 7 year olds even break up? and yes this normal pink dog this kid has look at how she’s living it up. the fact that everyone else in the party is clearly chill and having an okay time. kevin’s obsession with old people. just. the gags really do it for me for some reason

is anyone else interested in joining my server? not quite ready to invite people yet but should be soon. just gauging interest right now. “like” or reply to this post and when i’m ready i’ll send you an invite.

server will probably be dual purpose.

there will be (1) a semi-public side oriented toward general discussion (topics like politics, books, history, philosophy, religion, media, science, tech, etc) and community building (nothing is set in stone yet but i am imagining activities like book club, movie watching, playing games, contests and giveaways, etc). and there will be (2) a private side dedicated to more focused discussions and internal cult matters.

the server won’t be a “safe space” -- i’m fine with a bit of edge (within ToS. not trying to get terminated.) -- but i do want this server (at least the semi-public side) to be /relatively/ welcoming and civil. so if you’re egregiously toxic or vulgar or prone to shitflinging or sperging out you won’t be welcome here. neither will you be welcome if you’re overly sensitive.

otherwise, as long as you follow the rules, you will be fine. though i always reserve the right to executively veto your presence for any reason.
