I want to talk about this moment in Supergirl.

(It's hard to talk about Andrea without talking about how Crisis gutted her character, but I'm going to avoid rambling about that again.)

I think this moment is critical for Andrea. It's the moment Andrea chooses hope.

Lena isn't passing judgment here. There is no betrayal. Lena's own character arc is pretty beautiful (though somewhat cheapened by how the writers retroactively justified Kara and gutted Andrea, because the interplay between all three of them is important). Lena isn't trying to stop Andrea on the grounds of don't betray me.

Instead, Lena says: "I have done terrible things to protect myself and the people I love. But it has never kept me safe from pain. It's just brought me a new kind of misery. And I moved further and further away from the person I was, until one day I woke up and I was utterly alone."

Andrea is not choosing between murdering her father and betraying her best friend. She is not choosing between family and freedom. Lena is right there with her, she's there saying you jump, I jump, accepting whatever Andrea may choose.

Andrea - with all her guilt from betraying her best friend years ago, with all her resignation at what her path now entailed as the coerced assassin for a shadow group - is hearing I know this isn't easy, but I believe in you. She's even hearing I'll accept you, I'll jump with you. She's hearing that Lena would rather die than become further from who she wants to be (a choice we see Lena echo again with Lex in S6).

So when it comes down to Andrea choosing between fear and freedom, she finally chooses the person she wants to be.

This is something the show comes for over and over again - usually through Kara, and not always elegantly - that hope is a choice. And it's pretty neat to see Andrea make it.

WAIT I just realized something if Barbatos truly is Nightbringer

In normal lesson 9-A, Solomon has a run in with some sort of illusion (?) of Diavolo and Simeon and in 10-A he has a quick chat with Nightbringer, right

When asked to choose between demons and angels by Simeon and Diavolo,  Solomon says that he chooses neither and states that he doesn’t want to make an enemy out of either of them, and then adds that he just wants to be free and that that’s part of the agreement he has with “him” (him being Nightbringer)

And then in his converstation with Nightbringer, he says that he wishes Solomon would have simply chosen their side as that would make things easier and later remarks that Sol is behaving like a demon, to which Solomon replies with this

So could it be that Barbatos is actually the reason Solomon is immortal? He has the power to choose which reality becomes........well, reality as we were shown during the lesson 16 incident of the og game, so he might have chosen one that turned Solomon immortal. And now he’s using the fact that he can make him mortal again to force him into whatever agreement Solomon was referring to

The ONLY reason I’m kind of doubting Barbatos -or any demon at all, for that matter- is Nightbringer to begin with is because Solomon also said this to Nightbringer

Which makes it sound like he’s actually an angel. But if so, who? Angel Lucifer did mention that Michael was interested in a specific human sorcerer back in season 3..........

Something that always confused me when I read TPOTO was why The Phantom chose box five out of all the private boxes to be his.

Out of all the seats in the house, box five is among the worst and would be (and still is) sold cheaply (average 65 francs at cheapest in 1880, now sold a between 10-25 euros nowadays) on general sale. A higher profit would've been made from a year-long booking, especially since there are multiple seats, so it would be 65 francs per person on a yearly booking no matter how many people are in there at once, but still not as much as other seats.

Visual wise, a good chunk of the left side of the stage is cut off and parts of the performance that would occur in the higher wings would be completely unseen, so, why choose it? Isn't the main point of going to go watch an Opera is to actually see the performance?

Having been there myself in late May, I found an answer to my own question and I'm gonna share it with you guys because maybe someone else was asking the same thing!

Although yes, the stage is half cut off, it's one of, if not the, best seats acoustic wise. You're a perfect distance from the orchestra as well as the stage for everything to sound just right. As much as The Phantom would've loved the operatic performance, I don't doubt he would've been more focused on the music itself as well as the vocals, and, mainly, Christine.

Further, although going to the opera was more of a social thing than an entertainment thing, so the boxes were built for aristocracy to be seen above all things, you can disappear from public view quite easily in that box. There are two to three rows of seats going backwards to the door, so all one would have to do to disappear from sight of anyone on stage or in the audience would be to just move a seat backwards (which means he wouldn't have been able to see the stage at all, but would still be able to hear everything perfectly well).

Plus, the box is located right at the end of the row of private boxes, as well as very close to entry and exit stairs, both public ones and private ones meant for stage hands and general workers.

All in all, those three reasons are why the box was chosen and kept in high priority for The Phantom, because he could quite literally disappear, like a ghost, by just moving himself in the box, as well as disappear out of the box and hear Christine almost perfectly.

So I'm trawling ebay to see if I can get myself a slightly belated birthday present and I found the "Fathers Calling" statue. It's out of my price range but I am still looking and I see this.

I love Arcane for all the normal reasons-the incredible plot and writing, the fascinating worldbuilding and character dynamics, the out-of-this world animation that is so beautiful you'd think an animator sold their soul to the devil to make it-and also because practically every single female character could absolutely eviscerate you in roughly 750 different ways (both physically and psychologically).

just wanted to thank all of the wonderful people that ive met on this platform the last 7 months. i never really thought much would become of me posting my art on here but WOW was i wrong.

the unfiltered kindness/support and lovely people i’ve met on here is something i’m truly grateful for being able to experience. to be able to be apart of such an incredible community really made me feel seen, even if it was only for a little under a year.

with how inconsistent i am, i can only hope that i’ll return with the same passion as i did when i first posted! the interests i have now are.. vastly different (and i have some plans for this year that might get in the way of consistent posts, but we try regardless!)

Ok so I so love Kyojuro to death but for the past week I have been stuck on his prickly father, Shinjuro, and it has had me thinking some things👀. Like imagine being his S/O during his time of trying to stop drinking and the cravings hit particularly hard at one point and his S/O is trying to help distract him from it. Sometimes the best way to deal with one craving is to use something else to satisfy it.
