in the amelia pond au, amelia’s aunt does still send her to therapy between doctor adventures, but since amelia is now secure in the fact that he’s Definitely Real since both rory and mels have also met him and because she lost a tooth last week from tripping on the stairs of the tardis, she doesn’t bite any therapists this time around. and besides, her therapist is a very funny lady. she reminds amelia of her doctor, with how her voice will flip and jump in volume and accent and tone on a whim, with how she’ll talk to amelia like they’re conspiring together. she keeps the pictures amelia draws of the doctor and their adventures for her, even hangs one or two on the walls. she listens very intently to every detail, which no adults in amelia’s life do save the doctor himself and river song, whenever she’s around. and best of all, whenever she tells amelia’s aunt that amelia is doing just fine, don’t you worry, she’ll grow out of this, she winks at amelia so that amelia will know her therapist is only playing along to wave away her aunt’s suspicion.
it is a little odd, though, that she insists on only being called Missy. but amelia is quite used to odd by now.
If you have not read The Stranding (and by extension, The Rescue) by the darling @belethlegwen you are deeply missing out! The sheer amount of content is truly a blessing, and considering its still being updated?? ASDFJHSLK
Belle is an incredible story teller, and this shines through in her writing so well I feel like I'm getting flashbanged by talent.
You know that typical writing advice about not introducing too many characters, especially early on as it divides the reader's attention?? BELLE STOMPS ON THAT.
AND
IT
WORKS
I genuinely can't get over how much I am in love with her characters. I must admit- I am the typical reader with one too many bonks to the head that can't seem to focus on/ remember/ care about more than 3-5 characters- that is not the case here.
Every character she introduces has my interest piqued- each one feeling alive and at home in their setting. And its not just likeable in the sense of "oh I'd be friends with them" (and she absolutely has many characters I'd love to be friends with)- its these raw and real characterizations that make you like them as a character.
They have their own mystery to them too- even if its not direct. Her characters make you wonder more about their past and why they act the way they do. They can be frustrating, immature, stubborn, even cruel- but they feel so deeply real.
Both written works from Sizeable Ship Wrecks are among my favorite things I've read- both inside and outside of the G/t sphere to the point I feel as though I could shamelessly recommend this to someone outside of the G/t community and be confident they would enjoy it.
I tried to listen to a feel good playlist I made on Spotify free for my shower. You know 15 TOPS. I heard 6 ads and 3 songs I didn't add. So ONE (1) song from MY playlist got played. AND THEN it tried to play Tsw***ft AND A PRO-ISNOTREAL podcast. Uh huh it's a no from me baby.
Getting to the point where I don't want franchises I follow and love dearly to release any new stuff because it's just going to make the fandom insufferable.
Unpopular opinion: Adelaide have some nice Italian players like Josh Rachele (who did butterfly wings to celebrate awww cute) and Soligo (can he go) but it was a shame the Fog, the actual sexiest man alive holy shit (I'm so sorry Faz please forgive me), was so hopeless every time he got near the ball.
Also owwwies should've kicked the sealer
And that one earlier in the game that was put to the score review and they showed the Adelaide guy trying to smother but there was no conclusive evidence that he touched it so it should've been a goal to Carlton.
Also a crow did a dog act on Jack Carroll plus many more crows got away with ripping a few Carlton heads off but every time a crow head was ripped off, free kick.
It was a strange game. I'm sorry Carlton for infiltrating with my Collingwood scarf and Daisy badge and faz jumper. I promise not to be there next week but I'll see you again at the MCG in two weeks for the De Koning Cup. Cue the Robbie Williams music.
I miss working at the bar and singing god gave rock n roll to you with drunk metalheads who only a few hours prior talked about how much they hated kiss
For the ship ask game the Ponds Doctor Who? I was going to say DoctorRiver but that felt too obvious (feel free to add them to the chart if you want anyway though)
send me ships for the shipping grid
YES. BLESS YOU.
(Sorry, if I have the chance to include Doctor/River in ANYTHING, I'm taking it, lmao)
I ACTUALLY DON'T TALK ABOUT AMY/RORY ENOUGH. But I cannot TELL you how many feelings they've given me over the years. He waited for her for 2000 years! Just to give that little extra assurance that she would be safe!! She remembered him even when he was erased from existence!!! Even when that remembrance was subconscious!!! That's my shit!!!!!!!
That scene in "Asylum of the Daleks" where she talks about how she can't have kids anymore and wants him to be able to have that, so she's trying to let him go, and then he tells her he already knew anyway. And that they'll figure it out, because the important thing is the relationship they built. The ENTIRETY of "The Girl Who Waited" (which, hmmm, did I set the "giving her my days" speech to music for a project in theory class where we had to write a chorale, yes I did!!!!!!). I also have a whole separate folder on my computer of "Amy/Rory fanvids/fanfics" so.
"TOGETHER OR NOT AT ALL" OH MY GOOOODDDDDDDDDD. 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 YOU WILL PRY TATM FROM MY COLD, DEAD HANDS.
They're not Grade-A Deranged™ in the way that the Doctor and River are (which, I think in order for a ship to completely reach the upper left corner, that has to be present) but I LOVE THEM. Amy learning that maybe someone human and grounded (who would, in most other stories, be left as the Buzzkill Second Choice) can be extraordinary and emotionally fulfilling and compelling. Breaking down the idea of what "ordinary" really means, because look at who Rory became! Amy had a lot of confusion to work through re: the state of her romantic feelings, and that kept being a source of insecurity for Rory, even after they DID get married. But they got there. And after she made her choice, she stuck to it; and even in spite of her Mess™ he was ALWAYS there for her. There was something just...very real, about their relationship, even though one of these people had two lives courtesy of a rift in the universe feeding into her brain and the other one died like ten separate times over the course of them both traveling through time and space.
Someday, I will discuss all of my Thoughts™ on Doctor/River, but that is. A giant far-reaching project for another day. But tldr, I completely understand why these two characters fell in love with each other, and it makes me into a mess at every conceivable turn. (I do wish we'd had more episodes of them, though; and I wish we'd gotten to see more of the aftermath of TATM. I think they would have benefited from both of those things.)
gender dysphoria is crazy. itll have you googling shit like how do men wear belts, and also having a small breakdown when you realize its not the way you’ve been doing it…
