Fuck i forgot there’s also this really funny detail where when he’s blindfolded for a game, Jashin closes his eyes on his shoulders as well.
Which comes with the fun lore confirmation that those eyes are not just for show, and Jashin actually can see out of the eyes on his shoulders.

I mentioned it yesterday but honestly it is just a really cute detail to me that all his extra eyes follow where he looks. It’s subtle, but after it being gone in Duelost I really miss it.
But also like i said yesterday, Duelost isn’t totally without its cute monster details.

(Sorry I’m still talking about art styles, leave me be)
(Top 6 are Dai-sensei art, bottom 3 are KNBYS-sensei)
Although if there is one thing Dai-sensei’s art really, REALLY, shines on, it’s the monsters. Kanebayashi’s style is overall prettier imo, and is more detailed when it comes to humans—but the detail Dai-sensei puts into the monster drawings? Jesus fucking Christ. Not only in the amount of detail, which is arguably higher, but his ability to draw these monsters with such expressive faces.
Each time Jashin emotes in Dai-sensei’s art, the emotion is so clearly conveyed despite his face being dense with inhuman features. It doesn’t even feel like any of the features are being sacrificed for the sake of the emotions being clearer—even the drawings where he doesn’t have pupils are super emotive.
I think yall know I’m very ill about both of these manga, so I’m not trying to argue which art style is worse or better than the other—they both have their pros and cons. But the differences in expressiveness is especially apparent when you directly compare the them.
Honestly, Duelost Jashin just feels a little stiff—like he can’t open his jaw or something lol (I checked, he really doesn’t open his mouth). The eyes on his forehead around his body also don’t follow where he’s looking like they did in Duewin.
Granted, Jashin in Duelost just also hasn’t really had the opportunity to be silly because of tonal differences, but his “fucked up and evil moments” don’t have as much raw emotion. Maybe they’re trying to make him feel more stoic and menacing (or KNBYS-sensei just really doesn’t want to draw his mouth open, lmao) who knows. They draw Jablood pretty cute when it’s eating mana, so maybe the Jashin stuff is a directional thing. Again, who knows.
Honestly, Dai-sensei is just kind of a freak when it comes to drawing monsters.

KNBYS-sensei sometimes draws scrunkly too, but they have a mix of detailed humans and fucked up detailed monsters.
With Dai-sensei, however, monsters are still fucked up and detailed, but humans are quite literally always scrunkly.
(Although one thing that Dai-sensei does do is frequently reuse assets/drawings/panels, even across chapters or of the same simple drawing zoomed in. I can’t blame him though, lol.)
