Understanding study material 📚 Effective strategies 🤔
Here are some research-backed tips to help you navigate difficulties in understanding study material effectively 💪🏼
1️⃣ Break down complex concepts
Research suggests that breaking down complex concepts into smaller, more digestible parts can aid in understanding. Divide the material into manageable sections and focus on understanding each component before moving on to the next.
2️⃣ Engage in active learning
Active learning techniques, such as summarizing, teaching others, and practicing with flashcards, can improve understanding and retention. Engage actively with the material by explaining it to a study partner or testing yourself with practice questions.
3️⃣ Seek clarification
Don't hesitate to seek clarification from your instructors, peers, or online resources when you encounter difficulties. Research indicates that asking questions and seeking feedback can enhance understanding and fill in knowledge gaps.
4️⃣ Utilize visual aids
Visual aids, such as diagrams, charts, and graphs, can help simplify complex information and improve comprehension. Create visual representations of the material or use existing visual resources to enhance your understanding of challenging concepts.
5️⃣ Connect new material to prior knowledge
Research in cognitive psychology emphasizes the importance of connecting new information to existing knowledge for better understanding. Relate new concepts to familiar ideas or experiences to establish meaningful connections and improve retention.
6️⃣ Practice retrieval techniques
Research studies suggest that practicing retrieval techniques, such as self-testing and quizzing, can strengthen memory and understanding. Test yourself regularly on the material to reinforce learning and identify areas that require further review.
7️⃣ Collaborate with peers
Collaborative learning has been shown to enhance understanding and retention of study material. Engage in group study sessions with peers to discuss challenging concepts, share insights, and benefit from diverse perspectives.
8️⃣ Take breaks and manage stress
Take regular breaks during study sessions, practice relaxation techniques, and prioritize self-care to manage stress levels and optimize your cognitive performance. Read posts about mental and physical health to find more useful information.

introduction
july 28 2020
basics
☼ hola! my name is jhennifer (yes with an extra h) (she/her)
☼ 17, rising senior (go class of 2021!)
☼  i am peruvian american (vamos perú!)
☼ i speak both spanish and english (but prefer to speak english)
☼ i’ve been video editing for almost 5 years now! (I now mainly use after effects)
☼  i love science! especially chemistry and biology! (i highly respect people who study physics, I could never)
☼ about to finish the science and tech program in my high school (striving to complete the bio route)
☼ i plan to enter the pre-med track in university
why a studyblr?
☼ for the longest time, i’ve been wanting to create a platform to motivate  hispanics and other minorities to see the opportunities education opens
☼ i’ve personally seen in the hispanic community how education is usually unappreciated or that many are sadly are not able to focus on education since they may not have the resources or the time (due to taking care of their family financially) to dedicate themselves to school and higher levels of education
☼ i hope to post pictures of notes or of what i’m doing that day (writing an essay, studying SAT, and etc) to motivate others to study
☼ later on i hope to create videos or infographics about study tips or school advice I would want to give :)
☼ on this studyblr, i also plan to talk about important issues that I believe deserve more attention such as the black lives matter movement and the zero-tolerance policy that continues to rip families apart
☼ I have a goal to post every week!
☼ i’ve actually been on tumblr and following studyblrs for 2-3 months now? But just decided to create a studyblur account 0_0
☼ here are some blogs that i absolutely love and have inspired me!

15 July 2021 🩺 Some study tips from ex-medical student
📆 Schedule your day, and don’t forget to find time to have a rest. Study medicine is challenging and taking a lot of energy, so you need time to have a nap after class or to spend time in the park and with friends
📑 Study important topics a little bit every day by using flashcards or AnkiApp/Quizlet. You can do it on the way to your college/hospital or home
🗒 Spend 5 minutes reviewing what you just learned at the end of the study session and at the end of the day
✏️ Don’t rewrite information from books and lectures. Make notes only with important information. Make your notes interactive, easy to read by using mnemonics, pictures, stickers, etc. 🔺 To download high-quality medical pictures, visit Servier Medical Art, where you can find Anatomy and the human body, cellular biology, medical specialties, and general arts
🩺 Don’t study without using the information to solve medical cases or better to talk with patients if it is possible
🖥 Watch YouTube channels to understand a topic better🔺My favorite medical channel is Ninja Nerd Lectures
🥇 Don’t give up if you fail an exam/test. It is ok! Just try to find the problem why you didn’t pass and solve it
👩🏽‍🤝‍👩🏻 Study with friends only if you are at the same level of study and if you know that you will help each other understand the material and it is ok to study alone. Another way to study with friends is to become a “teacher” and explain a topic
