Rook stood before the steel gate, looking a little uneasy as she ran a hand over her marks. A part of her expected them to start glowing any second now. Much to her relief, they confirmed her father wasn't around.

"Looks like mom added some more plants since last time." She reached through the bars to turn the key on the other side, "I guess the garden defense needed a little boost. Watch out for the murder robots, though."

At least she was in a good enough mood to joke. Rook gingerly led the way along the gravel path leading to the former farmhouse. There were no robots adorning the garden, but there were toys scattered in the grass and a few cats lounging on an old wooden bench. Rook's mother was waiting for them at the door along with a child, who looked perfectly content with being carried around by a ghost.
