working with Leviathan when he wants to tell you something be like
channels "Do you know why we're associated with the directions so much, Little Bird?" from him
wonders what 'Little Bird' has to do with anything when he rarely uses names like that
Tries to check if the word for Tengrists is Tengrist because he's referencing the bird shape on the symbol used by them when he talks about directions
weirdly gets recommended by google straight up shit about Tengri and Shiva being the same person - for very questionable reasons but there was barely any results for the search so ive "no idea" why google suddenly made me search it as if it was popular af
Avoids it because although I know the name Tengri is extremely important to him I get uncomfortable using it, because though I've always known Leviathan as the Day Sky and as The Big Sky Bird Made Of Small Birds to my Small Sky Bird since before I even knew his name(s), I don't know enough about Mongolia to feel comfortable using that name
Get told by him the next day we need to go back to organising this blog. grand. lets do it
Accidentally opens an old tab thats so old i dont even recognise it, except its a wall of text on Shiva
ignores it.
Today's work in organising starts with reading through a unique astral projection journey in the heights of space amongst stars with Ahi/Leviathan that is about love and unity and healing and surrendering, and seeing that part of space and connection to reality clearly
Gets drawn to only one single part of the tab on Shiva I opened blanking the rest and its "Easwara has yet another name: Yogasikha. The sky is His blue form. The directions (Dik) are His garment."
Look above this passage and sees that the lead up to it, relevant to the meditation with Ahi and the fact that yesterday Leviathan was like "yeah just start recognising us as the same entity", is "The Lord has another name. It is only when the love principle underlying this name is rightly understood, the real form of the Cosmos can be recognized. That name is Saambasiva. Saa means divinity. Amba refers to the cosmos. Siva means the Supreme person (Purusha)."
hmm
#point being ''write it down so you actually absorb it'' or whatever he said when i got halfway through typing this and said i feel silly#and other point is man he really just is super straight up huh. shit like this occurs all the time...... which means i KNOW hes nudging me#to typing THIS example up bc of the fuckin shit i said id publicly do like stop avoiding the name Tengri (my chronologically first#essay/meditiation with him on my blog is.... calling him that. and i keep bothering him like hey are you SURE i shouldve#used that name and hes like yeah get over it a) its extremely important to me b) its extremely important to you c) you interact with#me as a sky spirit and you are connected to the day sky and the weather system in your practice thats what it rests on so#of course I approach you with that name d) its extremely important and tightly woven into my interactions with every human#e) the DNA of an incarnation of (his) is throughout the entire population of the earth. are you. yeah youre sure you want me to#say that. ''its not like it isnt common knowledge'' fair fair. ''hence why it is an anchor point for me here'' implications in those#words about what he was saying in what i uploaded last night about the creation of this plane and him being In The Plane#- i forgot what i was saying. things i said id publicly change and do was a) stop avoiding Tengri and stop saying ''i dont get these things#what if i mess up and dont study right'' and just go educate myself more on that names cultural impact. b) address Ahi & Leviathan + the#Storm Mother as parts of the same overarching person. and#c) what else did i say Id do. stop beating myself up for things i did NOT say that well im saying it now ok#leviathan //#ramblings //#diary //#me: calls Leviathan honest and straight forward and ''if you want me to help you you actually have to do what i say and i know what#im doing so either you listen and do it or you admit you dont want this''#also me: god damn it what do you mean i have to now listen to you on the Tengri thing istfg

Phone calls after Mc returned to the human realm
Lucifer:
this man is stubborn, calling you would be like admitting he's gone soft and his pride does not allow that!
so he refuses to call for the first few weeks, keeping himself busy with work of which he has enough anyway
due to all his student council work, a few other tasks of Diavolo and on top of that the usual shenanigans of his brothers, he quickly becomes very stressed
he's at his breaking point and needs someone to talk to so he can release some of his stress before he takes it out on someone else
so he goes to your old room and starts talking as soon as he enters it, only to stop confused when he doesn't see you in the room, remembering only now you left for the human realm
disappointed he sits down onto the bed and curls the blanket around himself
"Their scent is almost gone...Soon it'll be as if they were never here"
he closes his eyes, sighs softly and makes his decision
"Mc? I hope I didn't wake you. I simply thought a conversation would be nice, it's been a while..."
Lucifer's call is pretty casual, he talks about his day, work and his troublemaker brothers, it almost feels like any other day before just this time it is over phone
he does not want to admit he misses you, a) because he'd seem weak and b) he fears what admitting it will do to him, he might just miss you even more
BUT while saying goodbye he accidentally lets a "I miss you" slip, his breathing stops shortly realizing his mistake, he is about to apologize when you say it back
he smiles softly, genuinely relieved about your shared sentiment and whispers "I'll call you again soon then" before hanging up
from then on he calls you every evening and you better jump right away and pick up at the first ringing, because this man is lonely without you
Mammon:
"Congratulations! You're one of our lucky winners of our monthly Devil-Lottery. We'll have to confirm your bank account number with the one given to us when you agreed to participating in the lottery. Would you be so kind to slowly repeat the number-"
this greedy demon will quite literally try to scam you, only to absolutely panic when you hang up on him
he will instantly call you back, constantly adjusting his glasses, a nervous habit he acquired over the years
"H-hey...Mc...uhm, it's me your favourite demon!"
he is relieved you picked up, as it means you didn't block him right away, he stumbles over his words trying to find an excuse why he just tried to scam you
"Ah you know I only did that to test you, you've passed nobody scams my human! You're my amazing human after all! That's why I love you...u-uh I-i mean...nothing...that was a static you must have misheard..."
when you tell him you knew it was him as you recognized his voice, he'll be outraged, screaming into his D.D.D (and probably later getting punched by Lucifer for being so loud)
"What do you mean you already knew?! You dared to hang up on The Great Mammon?
He gets a bit sulky by your reaction, so how about playing into his obvious lie of testing you to make him feel better again
besides trying to scam you Mammon also called to (not so sneakily) check on your wellbeing
now that you're gone he constantly worries about you and he can't do much to help, but if you were actually in need of help due to whatever, trust me he'd fight Lucifer himself for permission to go to you
he'll call you as often as he can, sometimes with a few days of a break in between, asking you about your life and also letting you in on his upcoming money making schemes...please don't tell Lucifer about them
Mammon has learned his lesson though, he'll never try to scam you again, he couldn't bare it if you were to block or ignore his calls
Leviathan:
phone calls? Why? You two can just talk about the in-game talk function of this new online game you play, but no real world talk while playing that ruins the immersion!
Levi will rarely call you as he just doesn't feel comfortable enough to talk with you about normie stuff for too long
he normally just spam writes you, ding, ding, ding, one message after another coming in without you being able to respond quick enough
so if gets too much and you decide to just call him so you can have an actual chance of responding, Levi just panics and almost drops his D.D.D
"Mc? D-did you accidentally hit the c-call button? N-no? I-i see no I love you too!!....AAAAAAAh I-i meant I l-l-love t-talking to you too...hehehe w-why would a yucky o-otaku like me say something like that"
poor boy is so nervous he'll say something stupid and will stutter a lot the first few times you call him, he is just not used to talking on the phone
he will laugh nervously over everything and sometimes there'll be a phase of awkward silence, but please don't point it out, Levi is already stressed enough as it is
once he gets used to calls, he'll surprisingly suggests to have a phone call while both of you are watching the new episode of an anime, so he'll be able to talk to you as if you're right next to him, which works out mediocre at first, you have to tell him to be a bit quieter a few times but besides that it's quiet nice
"Ooooooowhooooooah!!! Did you see that? That was amazing, I wish I had these superpowers, I'd save you of every danger like a real hero! W-what do you mean I'm already your hero?"
Yes, you saw and heard it, and your neighbours probably heard Levi...
on the rare occasions Levi calls you he'll often asks you for favours like to buy him this exclusively in the human realm sold limited edition game, of course he isn't like his scummy brother Mammon who'll constantly asks for things and he'll also make it up by sending you stuff you can only get on Akuzon
so calls don't happen very often, but neither if you really mind, you'll still be in contact through messages and games
Satan:
Satan will be very proper about calling you, he'll check through messages if you're fine with him calling you, so he can be sure you have time and he doesn't bother you
Satan never jumps into a conversation right away (unless he is angry), he makes sure to show interest in you and hold a bit small talk, asking about your day, how you're doing and so on
you talk about many different things with him mostly about your shared interests, but Satan is willing to listen to you ramble about hobbies he doesn't have as well
one thing you two quickly come to do was have book club sessions over phone
"I wish you were still here Mc. I miss my book discussion partner, nobody here has as interesting opinions and views as you..."
back in Devildom you two would both read a book and afterwards discuss your thoughts, and you found a way too keep doing just that
you both write about books, decide on one to read for the week and would than have a phone call where you just talk for hours about the piece of literature you've read
now that you're back in the human realm, the book choices are even bigger as you can read human books as well, you just have to send a copy to Satan, sometimes Barbatos will be nice and pick a book up and deliver it to Satan, or to you if it's the other way around with a demon book
"Oh? No, you're right. I haven't thought about it like that yet...your thoughts are so fascinating!"
Satan will shower you in praise for every little detail that you noticed yet he missed. he genuinely enjoys your phone calls, and though he wouldn't admit it, sometimes he anticipates your call more than the actual book
even though there now is a bigger distance between you two he still feels as close to you as before, not much has changed for him and he knows he'll be able to see you again soon, he'll just have to be patient
"Next week, same time? I'm looking forward to talking to you again. Take care until then!"
Asmodeus:
"Oh my Lord! You won't believe what just happened!!!"
no greeting or alike, just straight into the discussion
whenever something gossip worthy happens, Asmo is already dialling your number to spill the tea and keep you updated on any Devildom related gossip, even if it won't help you much, it's a nice thought of him keep you in the loop
those are only the spontaneous call though, obviously you can't take these all the time...you still have a life of your own...
you two actually call each other every day at the same time, plus/minus a couple minutes, the water in the tub has to be filled first...yeah Asmo likes to talk you while he is taking his afternoon bath
"Hahh it's so relaxing, warm water caressing my beautiful skin, and the bath bomb today smells so good! I wish you could smell it, or even better I wish we could bathe together!"
*water sloshing noises intensified*
Asmo...no....yes...maybe...just stop, you'll fluster Mc!
"No really! I miss having you here, I'll pamper you all day the next time I'll get to see you. You must already be starved of my beauty, but don't worry my dear, I'm just as starved of seeing your lovely face!"
what to talk about while he is bathing? Anything really if it's about your day, any complains or whatever, just expect a few innuendos of him...that's nothing new though
seriously though Asmo is the guy to talk to about any of your problems, he will listen and try to come up with a solution for you, even if he seems a bit narcissistic sometimes he really cares about you, so use your phone calls as therapy from time to time
"Oh darling, don't worry it'll be okay! I'm here to help...now tell me every detail so I can come up with a plan! I'll always be there for you, no matter what!"
Beelzebub:
"*munch munch* This one is really good! Mc you should try some...oh"
now that you're back in the human realm, Beels snack times are very lonely, he has just gotten so used to your presence, even sharing his food is normal by now
and let's be honest Beels snack time is 24/7 so he misses you a lot
he feels the urge to call you every five minutes and sometimes even forgets to eat while phone is ringing and he is waiting for you to pick up
but you can't constantly talk with him over phone so the calls often end up on your voicemail where Beel tells you about all the different kind of foods he ate that day
when Belphie catches wind of his twin constantly pestering you, he hides Beels D.D.D so he can't call you all the time
when you're actually able to pick up on his call, Beel will be so happy you can quite literally hear his huge grin while he's excitedly talking about his current snack
"Have you ever tried spicy bat-wings? There opened a new restaurant in town and it's really good!! Next time you're here I'll invite you there. Oh but what if it closes before you're back...ah you'll just have to visit soon!"
though Beel is often disappointed when you don't pick up, he would never hold it against you, he knows he calls quite a lot, but he just misses you and tipping a message while he eats is harder than putting his D.D.D on speaker and talking to you
of course he doesn't only talk about food, he also tells you about how his brothers are doing and how his workout was, or what things he has planned to do at the weekend, all in all Beel is just super happy to share everything of his life with you
on rare occasions he'll call you and be untypically quiet, that happens when he had a fight with his twin, it's not often but sometimes it happens and his first instinct is to call you, because he feels like he can tell you everything so he is very comfortable and trusting with you
"I miss you a lot, you know...but I also know that you think about me daily, every time your stomach rumbles you'll be reminded of me and that makes me happy, I also think about you every time I'm hungry! Hm? But I'm always hungry? That's right! You're always on my mind!"
Belphegor:
Listen, his sleeping schedule is very tight, you can't just expect him to call you!
he will call you so rarely and if you call him it might just happen that he is sleeping and has phone on silent...or he's just to lazy to walk to his phone, or he is just not in the mood to talk... he takes any excuse to not be on the phone
Belphie does like talking to you, but he is not the greatest at long conversations so he like messages more
sometimes when he can't seem to fall asleep, he will be the one to call you...in the middle of the night...and you better pick up or he gets annoyed
"What took you so long? I thought you wanted to talk more often and then you leave me hanging for a whole minute? Doesn't matter I would have waited longer with you...."
he is mostly silent through a phone call, his main reason to call you is because he like to listen to you talk, it's calming to him and if he calmer then he might be able to fall asleep again
so don't expect an amazingly deep conversation...
"Mhmmm...hm? Yeah I'm still there. I'm listening keep talking, I love your voice..."
he'll bring up a topic from time to time so you have an inspiration about what to talk about, but most of the times he just lazily hum or making acknowledging noises so you know he is still listening
"Zzz..."
he will to 100% fall asleep while being on the phone with you, that doesn't mean you're boring, but that he trusts you so much that he is comfortable enough to let his guard down
Diavolo:
"Good afternoon! How was the week of my favourite human?...ah don't tell Solomon I said that hahaha"
as the future king of hell, he is a busy man, but he still manages to give you a call once a week, to the same time you two would have normally had your weekly afternoon tea meeting in the castle
with the exchange year over there is not much about your classes to talk about left, but Dia is just as excited about any other topic you decide to talk about, be it the most mundane thing he loves it!
"Oh so you went grocery shopping? That must be fun! Barbatos does it all the time, though I suppose you buy less things...I'd like to see a human market at some point, I wonder if they're very different from ours...oh but I wouldn't really able to tell I suppose, Barbatos and you would need to point out the differences!"
this man can talk without taking a break for hours...you think Asmo is bad? Prepare for Diavolo...
but seriously it never gets boring with him, because he somehow finds good and fun stuff in every activity, I swear give him a vacuum and watch him clean you're whole flat with the enthusiasm of a child getting presents on Christmas
the work of a future king consists of so much paperwork, Dia will have only few events of his week to tell you about, if there is something to talk about there is a high chance it has to do with the brothers
so he'd much rather just sip his tea and listen to you, he'll ask you loads of questions though about anything he doesn't know
sometimes you two forget the time and Barb sadly has to remind you to come to a stop for now
"Mc? Did I wake you? If so I'm terribly sorry...would you be up to talk for a little bit more? I'm not feeling too tired yet"
surprise night time calls from Dia where you'll have to speak silently or Barbatos might reprimand Diavolo for staying up all night and being tired the next day, Dia doesn't regret it ever though, he likes to talk you a lot!
Barbatos:
Barbatos is always busy and his schedule can often suddenly change with a new whim of his master, so he can't exactly have a scheduled call with you
so you might not get to hear of him very often
BUT he made it a habit to call you when he is on duty to do the dishes, the chore is somewhat boring to him with no one to distract him
so he calls you and if you pick up, he'll put you on speaker and talk to you about whatever comes to mind while his hands wash one after another of the expensive porcelain of the royal household
"I've bought this new tea which is said to be really nice, it can even be enjoyed cold apparently. It seems to have to just the right amount of sweetness to not get bitter when drank cold...you can still add sugar for extra sweetness, though I believe you're already sweet enough as it is"
no matter what you decide to talk about Barbatos always has at least some knowledge about it, so it's beneficial for both of you, he can tell you the things he knows and you tell him your stuff
"I hope I'm not bothering you too much? There is quite a lot to do today... so it might take some more time..."
you will never get to know that Barb has actually already finished the dished a few minutes ago, but just isn't ready to say goodbye yet
the rest of the employees will be able handle the castle for a bit longer without him, meanwhile he can take a well deserved tea break and listen to you
he very much enjoys the fact he found a way to have some time with you while theoretically having to be at work, as long as he is able to finish all the tasks of his daily schedule, he doesn't feel too bad about his not so legal break
"I fear I'll have to get back to work now, but I loved talking to you today! I hope you enjoyed it as well. I'll talk to you again soon!"
Solomon:
Though Solomon returned to the human realm with you, you haven't heard much of him, being a wise old man sorcerer must be very time consuming
so calls of Solomon might be rare but that doesn't mean you don't write messages every now and then, when he calls you though it's always about something interesting or important to share, he talks about those things rather verbally, the best option for him would be in person, but that doesn't always work so a phone call is the second best option
"My lovely apprentice, how is your studying going? I've found the tome we were talking about last time you were interested in...it took some research to find which sorcerer had it but I brought it back for you. How about I'll drop by you next week? I can help you with your studying then, the tome is written in an older version of the language it might be easier if we do it together!"
Solomon can simply not sit still, so while you're on the phone, he is always tinkering at something and the background noises are sometimes quite peculiar...
Was that a pig squeaking? Are you sure you should be brewing a potion while being on the phone? Isn't it distracting?
Oh Lord was that an explosion?!
"Hmm? Oh yeah...I`m cooking dinner right now! It was just a small explosion though, you know the ones that are regularly happen in the kitchen. Why? Was my cute student worried about me?~ heheh alright, alright, I'll stop teasing you...for now!"
no matter how chaotic, teasing or busy Solomon is though, if you call him and are in need of help, he'll drop everything and run to you
he knows how hard it can be when studying magic, not to mention that the studies are difficult, the constant hiding of any magic in front of other humans is also very nerve wrecking, sometimes you feel like giving up and going back to your normal life, back to your non-magical very human friends that are blissfully unaware of everything happening around them, but you know you could never forget and act as if nothing happened, you'd also miss your new not so normal friends, so when times get hard Solomon will rush to you and comfort you in person or at least calm you down on phone until he is able to go to you
if that happens he is more likely to call you every two to three days just to check in on you
"Hey how is my strong and beautiful fellow human doing? Feeling better yet? Need a shoulder to lean on? I'm at your flat in 10 minutes..."
Simeon:
Simeon is a daily caller as well, he's gotten so used to seeing you every day that he feels quite restless if he doesn't get to hear your voice at least once a day
he asked you to recommend at what time he should call, he doesn't want to restrict you in your daily life, so you both came to the conclusion after dinner would be perfect, as both of you are free for the rest of the day then
He will often write a bit on his TSL scripts, just some notes and inspirations he comes up while talking to you
"How was your day my little lamb? You haven't overworked yourself right? Tell me if you ever need help!"
though Simeon would definitely have things to complain about with how Michael is working him to the bone, he'd rather not worry you so instead he tells you about how Luke is doing and evasively answers you questions about himself
"Oh me? Ah yes, I'm doing fine, just doing the usual archangel stuff you know...Ah please do not worry Mc, my dear! Nothing dangerous!"
over the time his TSL notes turn into random scribbles, rhymes and poems and every now and then something that looks suspiciously like your name
Sometimes Luke crashes the call and wants to speak with you as well so Simeon tries to put the phone on speaker only to end up ending the call and Luke getting frustrated with Simeon and doing it himself
then again Simeon also just accidentally hangs up on you mid conversation, because his fingers hit the button without him noticing, he'll get so confused when you cut off in the middle of your sentence and thinks something has happened to you, only to be relieved when you call back a few seconds later
Simeon is very interested in your day and how you doing, asking you many questions and encouraging you to keep talking
"Oh no please keep talking! You're not overwhelming me at all, in fact I like listening to your voice, it puts even the most melodic voice of an angel into the shadows...hahaha did I make you embarrassed? I apologize, I didn't mean to, I was only telling you my honest opinion!"
Simeon is quite the flatterer, but he often does not notice it, he simply tries to be nice, so a call with him leaves you flustered and stuttering ever now and then, but he is just as quick to blush at a honest and heartfelt compliment
Luke:
Luke might be an angel, but he is still low ranking and therefore has less assignments, besides studying to become a great angel and doing some minor tasks for Michael, he is relatively free
he often spends his free time in the kitchen constantly trying to improve his baking, now after the exchange year not only to impress Michael and Simeon but also Barbatos, maybe a bit Beel and definitely you!
but as Simeon is still working at these times, he gets somewhat lonely so he'll try calling you to keep him some company
Luke has this habit of speaking the recipes out loud to remember the steps better and be able to able to make them from memory, he got that tip from Barbatos, but he still has his moments where he gets stuck and forgets what to do next, you can notice that when he gets silent and concentrates on trying to remember
"Ah right that was it! I almost forgot about the eggs! Good thing you were here...or well on the phone hehe! You always remember this stuff, you're so amazing!"
when you tell him you simply looked it up in the internet for him, he'll get a bit sulky that he now basically cheated, but with your reassurance that he is already great and can remember so many other steps, he is quickly back to his happy little angel self
"Michael let me help with his conference today I was assistant record keeper today, one day I'll be able to do it alone, bit they're talking so much and so fast...I think I still need a couple centuries until I'm fully ready, but I'm working on improving! You should also try to improve your skills daily! Even a small bit of practice is good! Though I think you're perfect already!"
Luke most definitely learned his flattering from Simeon... he talks about many different things on the phone but repeating topic is Michael...just talking to you makes his day and later he'll tell everything Simeon and he smiles so brightly while he reports to him, please keep talking to him a lot!

Warning: mention of death of a loved one.
Todays concept is MC gets a call that like their parental figure has died one way or another and this upsets them greatly because one, they aren’t there to help with anything two, the only people there to do anything are their siblings three, they considered said parent a angel or a blessing by god (optional/bonus points if said parents name means angel-)  They don’t say anything at first though they seem rather angry and now one can figure out why. then they hide and have a mental breakdown to cry in hopefully but unlikely peace.  now I shall write the response headcanons / scenarios or whatever I will do Update: well I didn’t write a scenario / short story bit for all of them because i ran out of energy to do so and then i never went back to it, though if anyone begs or askes nicely I could in theory maybe work something out. this was something self indulgent and was something i wrote to really get me out of a bad headspace.  Lucifer
He is the first one to realize something is wrong, especially if they aren’t a very angry person.
probably doesn’t get to ask about what is going on because he is forced to deal with something else and rather quickly
though when people start inquiring where they went after lunch, finding it unlikely that they would randomly choose to skip class or something he makes his goal to find them.
Probably doesn’t take him long to find them after he starts looking. gets it in the first three guesses of where they are hiding.
“why are you hiding here with Cerberus?” Lucifer said with a bit of amusement. he figured he would find them here with his dog. just not curled up and cuddling.
“wouldn’t you like to know” was all they uttered out, having no real energy to argue, or fight. though it was clear they had been crying their eyes out.
“well something is clearly upsetting you, why not talk about it. nobody else is here to listen in” Lucifer offers to lend an ear to listen to their problems. he was also hoping that by doing so he could get to the root of the problem and deal with it. expecting that he was going to have to knock one of his brothers into line again.
“I just received some bad news. that’s all. also, I’ll be otherwise located Friday, so like, don’t worry if I’m not around on Friday, I will be back like Saturday, so there is that” They explain, clearly not wanting to get into the details of the so called bad news.
“otherwise located?” Lucifer inquired as to what the hell they meant by that.
“yeah, um, I will be visiting - visiting the human world for the day.” visiting might not be the word they were looking for but it was the word they went with nonetheless.
“your visiting the human world?” Lucifer was surprised to say the least. especially considering he wasn’t hearing about this till now.
“yeah, i was talking to Diavolo not long ago to make sure it was alright” with a sigh the were back to melting into the side of the dog.
“normally you are excited to visit the human world, what happened” lucifer wanted to get to the root of the misery they were feeling and he wasn’t gonna sweep this under the rug.
“for fuck sakes, you really aren’t gonna leave me alone till I say it huh? my parent fucking died. are you fucking happy, lucifer? Jesus Christ.” doing everything in their power to hold back a second wave of tears as they add on “my blessing of a parent died. can we drop the topic now?” they said clearly not wanting to hear anything come out of lucifer's mouth as they hardly give him the chance to speak.
“ah, I see, my condolences” Lucifer was trying to figure out what to say at the same time he was trying to figure out how to cheer them up or at least make them more comfortable. “do you want some Kleenex? how about some water?” lucifer inquired simply.
“water would be nice.” they let out a sigh.
“im sure your parent was a lovely person. I think it is safe to assume that they’ll end up somewhere where they are safe and happy” Lucifer states simply as he holds a hand out to them to help them to their feet.
“I have no doubts about it. so you don’t need to tell me twice. it just. . . hurts” They says rather quietly. Accepting lucifer’s hand and pulling themself to their feet.
”go take a seat in my office, no one will bother you in there. I’ll join you soon enough with your glass of water.”  Mammon
This man probably thinks he did something wrong, spends half the day trying to figure out what he did
if its not that he is trying to figure out who pissed them off and who he should be yelling at.
he hates to admit it but he doesn’t like seeing them angry or upset.
is probably gonna be first to realize that they slipped of to somewhere and start trying to find them right away.
after checking a few other areas, Mammon finally considers they might have just gone home to hide. knocking on their door and slowly opening it mammon calls out into the room “Oi, human are you in here?”.
“Go away Mammon” they were heard but very muffled as they had encased themselves in several blankets, clearly sounding like they were crying. unless they choose to eat gravel or something.
“what’s got you so bumbed out?” Mammon said fully entering the room now know that they were in the room and completely ignoring their request to go away.
“I said go away, I don’t want to talk about it” They said pulling the pillow to their head in hopes to block out more of the world. so that they didn’t have to look up and face the fact they were a hot mess. so mammon didn’t have to see them like this.
“no! the great mammon isn’t leaving till you say what's bothering you! that way I can fix it for you!” Mammon declared boldly. goofy grin on his face hoping that his optimism would help cheer them up.
“you can’t fix this. you cant bring back the dead. well unless you use necromancy, but. that's never worked out” They had let out a dry laugh for saying all of this. but now they were holding back tears trying to not cry their heart out for a second time.
“oh human...” Mammon was at a loss of words, though to be fair he didn’t get the time to form a full sentence.
“I’ll never get them back. they were practically an angel” they sniffled, trying to not sob. “my parent died mammon. what the fuck am I going to do?” they didn’t really expect an answer from mammon.
“Listen here, the great mammon will deal with all the technical talk, and will make sure you can go to the human world long enough for you to do what you need to. but till then and maybe after, I’ll be here for you.” mammon explained simply.
after letting out a chocked sob they reached out a hand and grabbed onto mammon's arm. “thank you” they sobbed out. mammon just sat there and patted the blanket pile gently trying to give as much comfort as he could.
“do you want a hug?”
“please-”
Leviathan
since he hides away and does online classes (Correct me if im wrong) he might not even realize something is going on
unless he messages them and doesn’t get a response.
will ask if the others have seen them and like will try to figure out where they were last seen.
eventually puzzles together that something is wrong and he should look for them
Satan
He although wrathful himself, isn’t able to see through the anger and might be a little annoyed about them for being so.
though he does understand that there is probably a reason for them being upset. he’ll do his best to figure out what caused them to act this way.
he’s stubborn and straight forward, he’ll probably be direct and ask what is wrong and wont leave till he gets an answer.
or he might occasionally bring it up and keep getting updates with how their doing kind of thing.
doesn’t really have to seek for them when they hide away because he watched them slip away and got worried and followed them
Asmodeus
he is very quick to realize something more is going on, something more than meets the eye.
probably doesn’t directly do anything at first other than same some sugar coated words in hopes it cheers them up.
when that doesn’t work, he gets very worried and tries to convince them to do somethings to ‘take your mind off of things’
knows exactly where to look to find them. first try!
Beelzebub
one of two ways, he either doesn’t notice anything for the first little bit, or he has a strange feeling nagging him that something is wrong and he tries to figure out what.
once its clear that they’ve disappeared he is quick to start looking, might take a while to find them because he is gonna check everywhere to find them.
bear hugs no questions asked, will try to comfort to the best of his abilities.
will ask them what they want to do after a while to see what he can do to make them feel better
Belphegor
tbh honest probably knows something is up right away.
with either avoid it entirely or bluntly ask what is wrong
if he doesn’t get a direct answer or is shooed away he doesn’t have the energy to push for the truth, might be a bit annoyed.
once he hears that they have gone missing it probably wont take him long to find them.
will sit down next to them and be like ‘now will you tell me what is wrong?’
Solomon
since he doesn’t have the same amount of time with them he may not notice at first. or he does notice ASAP because holy shit what happened why are they so mad.
might try to inquire what is wrong and like use his natural charm to try to cheer them up.
when he hears they are lost or missing ect. he uses magic to find them as quickly as possible.
will do a bunch of considerably silly and goofy things trying to get them to smile or laugh before trying to get them to talk about whats bothering them
Simeon
doesn’t take him long to figure out something is wrong, just one look and he knows
but other wise, he’ll simply ask if you want to talk about it. when bluntly rejected he’ll leave them alone
they go missing during the day? maybe it was worse than he first realized, he’ll go looking for them.
will find them within the hour, maybe a half hour if he’s lucky.
mans will try to comfort them any way he can.
_____________________________________________________________ sorry, for not doing Diavolo, luke and barbatos, i just didn’t really have the time to do them nor could i figure out how to do ones for them so like aihogdsifh sorry. but i do hope you enjoy this post nonetheless.

How would the brothers and Diavolo react to an s/o that is usually really chill, but when she gets angry, she could even rival Satan?
Thanks for being my very first request!
I don’t think I followed your prompt completely, but I tried to at least stay close. I didn’t do Diavolo cause I’m not super confident in writing him yet. 😳
Hope you still like it!
Lucifer
Lucifer basically lives with a bunch of children, so you being easy going is a breath of fresh air for him.
You didn’t bother him as he worked late in his study, often leaving you to yourself in his bedroom to wait for him.
Still, you worried about him.
You’d tell him he needed more sleep or that he was working too much.
He’d brush you off which kind of annoyed you but you knew there was no use arguing with the demon.
You were super happy one weekend when you woke up, surprised to see him still in bed with you.
“You’re usually up by now, working.”
He nodded. “Diavolo wanted me to take a break this weekend. He said I was overworking myself.”
Lucifer went to kiss you but you moved away. “Hold up.”
He furrowed his eyebrows at you.
“I’ve been telling you that for weeks and you basically tell me to fuck off…
But now when Diavolo says the same thing you listen?”
He laughs. “Well, yes, I answer to Diavolo. You’re just a human, you don’t know anything.”
You scoff. You shouldn’t be surprised by his douchebaggery but you are.
“You’re such a dick sometimes.”
He rolls his eyes and you get out of bed, huffing around the room as you get dressed.
“Really, MC, can you quit being so dramatic?”
You glare so intensely at him that it’s amazing you didn’t burn holes into him.
“Fuck you.”
Lucifer wants to punish you for your rudeness, but he can’t help but smirk. You’re pretty adorable right now.
He lays back in bed, knowing you’ll be back soon.
Mammon
You’re always up for Mammon’s crazy adventures. You’re like his sidekick, sitting back and letting him do his thing.
When things go wrong, you don’t make fun of him, call him a moron, or anything. You just smile at him and comfort him.
He crosses a line one day when you come home to find him in your bedroom, going through your stuff. He has a very special family heirloom of yours in his hand and you know his plans for it.
Mammon is instantly stuttering, trying to find some excuse for why he has your stuff in his hand. “H-hey babe. I was just missing you and wanting somethin’ of yours to remind me of you!”
You’re having none of it.
Your face turns red, and your eyes are like daggers coming for him.
“I know you are not thinking of selling my shit.”
You back the stuttering demon into a corner, hand reached out.
“Give it back. Now.”
Mammon looks around, refusing to meet your eyes. Damn, this human is scary.
“Mammon, give it back!” You reach over to snatch it out of his hand.
Mammon yelps and drops it, pushing past you and running out of your room.
Later when you’ve calmed down a bit you get a text from Lucifer. “The issue has been dealt with.”
He sends a picture of Mammon hanging upside down from the ceiling.
Usually you feel bad when this happens, but right now, you laugh.
 Serves him right.
Leviathan
Levi loves that you’re so low maintenance. The two of you can play games or just chill and watch anime together. The two of you are happy doing your own things.
The first time he sees you angry, he’s in his bathtub reading manga while you’re playing some game on one of his consoles. You’re having a difficult time fighting a particular boss and doing your best to stay patient.
It doesn’t last long.
You let out a loud, “WHAT THE FUCK!” as you lose once again, violently throwing the controller down.
Levi jumps.
You are fuming, balling your hands up into fists, your knuckles turning white.
He stares at you, mouth open, face pink, frozen. He doesn’t know what to do.
He looks to the controller on the floor, then back at you, annoyance on his face.
“Heyyyy! You could’ve broken my controller!”
You glare at him and he shrinks into his tub, hiding his face in his manga. You’re too angry to feel bad right now, and you’ve seen him throw it around several times.
You’re breathing heavily. Levi gets out of his tub and wraps you in his arms.
“Let me join the game. We’ll beat him together.”
Satan
Obviously Satan is the angry one between the two of you.
You often have to calm him down when he is upset.
You’re the perfect balance to his wrath, he thinks.
Until the first time he sees yours.
He had been in an argument with Lucifer and took it out on you, snapping at you for some ridiculous reason.
He’s been an asshole all day because of his fight with Lucifer, and you’ve tried your best to not take it personally. But for whatever reason, his comment sends you over the edge.
You suddenly let out a loud growl and reach over, slapping him across the face.
Satan instantly puts his hand up to his cheek, over your fingerprints. He is looking at you, wide eyed.
His shock wears off quickly, replaced with anger. His horns come out.
To be honest, you’re really scared. But too upset to back down.
“Next time you want to do that, reconsider.”
He’s towered over you despite not being too much taller than you.
“The next time you want to talk shit, reconsider.”
Satan’s face softens and he actually laughs.
He might be the Avatar of Wrath, but he can’t stay mad at you. He admires your stupidity bravery.
“Consider us even.”
Asmodeus
Asmo loves that you’re so easy going. You let him get flirty and snuggly with you. He feels completely loved and accepted with you.
You’re pretty understanding when the two of you go out somewhere and he is crowded by admirers and you don’t complain when he eats it up and flirts back a bit.
One night Asmo’s looking especially gorgeous and somebody steals him away from you to drink and dance with him.
You’re used to being the third wheel of your own relationship and you don’t usually take it personally. You knew going in that Asmo loved attention and agreed not to get in the way as long as he remained respectful of the relationship.
He’s usually pretty good at stopping his fans when they get too handsy but right now he’s a bit too drunk.
You cross your arms, watching some random succubus grinding with your man. You wait patiently for him to put a stop to it.
When she kisses him, you see red.
You basically run over, shoving her off of Asmo.
“Back. the. Fuck. up.”
As much as Asmo wants to watch you fight for him, he doesn’t want you to get hurt. He grabs you, pulling you away as you flail your arms and legs, trying to release yourself and go after the succubus.
He sets you down once you’re outside.
You’re still fuming, pacing back and forward. You’re yelling at him, reminding him of the boundaries the two of you set when you agreed to be with him.
He doesn’t hear you because he’s drunk and he’s so enamored with how adorable you look.
Also, he’s flattered that you’re so jealous.
Beelzebub
Beel finds you sweet and funny and easy to talk to.
You share your food with him. You even let him have the bigger half.
One day in the kitchen, you are making cookies. It’s a special recipe that’s been passed down through generations of your family. Beel is so ready for them, sitting and waiting for them to be done baking.
You pull them out of the oven and the demon drools. “Those look and smell so good.”
“You can have some if you want.”
“Thanks, MC.”
You turn to wash your hands and start cleaning up the flour and other ingredients that may have fallen onto the floor and counter.
You hear a crash and turn back to see the cookie sheet on the floor and Beel with a mouth full.
“Did you eat all of them?”
He smiles. “They were delicious!”
You know it’s a bit petty, but you can’t help but feel a bit of rage take over you.
“But I didn’t even get any…” Your voice is low, super low.
Beel looks at you, confused. “I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to.”
You stomp your foot, basically throwing a fucking tantrum, your eyes tearing up. “You freaked out and destroyed the kitchen AND my room when we had your custard but I don’t even get a bite of the cookies that I made?!”
Beel frowns. He understands why you’re angry and he hates that he’s the reason.
“I’ll help you make some more,” he tells you once you’re cool enough to listen to him. “I won’t eat any of them, I promise.”
You take him up on his offer and although it’s hard for him, he sticks to his word.
You’re impressed with his self control. “Okay, you can have one of mine.”
“Nah, they’re yours,” he says, giving you a kiss on the cheek.
Belphegor
Belphie was surprised by how well the two of you got along, considering he lied to you from your first meeting…
And, you know, he straight up fucking killed you.
The two of you had grown closer and closer, and he could often be found snuggling up to you and napping with his head resting on you.
Still, he noticed you still got tense when the two of you were intimate.
He tried to be understanding, but it hurt.
One night the two of you were on your bed, kissing. You seemed to be relaxed, so he crept his hand up your shirt.
You didn’t mean to, but you jumped.
Though you did want him to touch you, you couldn’t help but have flashbacks of the night he killed you when you felt his hands on you.
Belphie sighed, pulling away from you. “You still don’t trust me!”
“Belphie…” you groaned, putting a hand on your head. “Please, can we not do this right now.”
“If we’re going to be together, we should talk about this, right?”
You rolled your eyes and sat up to face him. “You really want to talk about that?”
He nods. “You’re still so awkward around me.”
You scoffed. “Are you kidding me? You lied to me from the beginning and you fucking KILLED me.”
“Then why are we even trying to be together?”
Ugh, you found him so attractive but he pissed you off so much sometimes.
You stand up, opening your door. “Leave.”
“MC…”
He comes over to you, trying to hug you. You push him away.
“Fuck off, Belphegor!”
It was mean. It was inappropriate. But you didn’t care. You weren’t ready to talk to him and you obviously weren’t ready to be in a relationship with him.
Belphie sighed, leaving to go back to his room.
He was hurt but he was willing to wait for you. In the meantime, he’d be patient and give you space.

I think I'm just gonna post a chapter a night?
DARK DECEPTION - CHAPTER 3
READ CHAPTER 2 here
Pairing(s): Diavolo x reader, mentions of Lucifer, Leviathan, and Barbatos
Warnings: none
Tumblr media
Everything was quite literally breathtaking. The whole ballroom had been transformed into shades of white and deep purple. Flowers were neatly arranged and formed into hearts; the red carpet was covered in white rose petals and the lights were dimmed to golden hour. If you didn't know any better, you'd almost call this your dream wedding. Guests were seating, staring at your beautiful form walking down the aisle, ready to begin your new future.
That's when your eyes met his and the spell was broken. He was smiling, standing proudly in a flashy white suit and a rose tucked neatly into his chest pocket. You could feel the aura of power, a deep sense of pride as he looked at you, his future wife. He was feeling no ounce of guilt; no remorse or pain. Unlike you. Your eyes couldn't stay on his for long and wouldn't dare meet Lucifer's, his best man, who was standing beside him and who's pain you felt from a mile away. The fallen angel almost died at your beauty; so pure, so innocent, so… wrong. He wanted to object, he really did but he knew it would just get him kicked out. He knew Diavolo wasn't one to reason with. Whatever the Demon wanted, he would get.
Finally, your eyes fell on Levi who was dressed up in an equally white suit. You almost laughed at the sight of him looking so uncomfortable but still quite attractive. He tried to give you a comforting smile and you tried to return it. It would be okay… you prayed to God it would be, still hoping that Simeon would sweep down from the Heavens and save you, but of course he never did and the aisle suddenly came to an end.
You viewed the hand that was outstretched in front of you; the tanned skin suddenly becoming the only thing in your vision and you felt Barbatos slowly prying your hand off his arm. Reluctantly, you let go of it and placed your hand in Diavolo's, letting yourself be pulled to stand in front of him. You hated how warm his hand felt in yours, hated how, once you looked up, all you saw was a smile and an act of love in his eyes. It was so rude, so mischievous, so… evil.
You swallowed hard, trying not to be intimidated by his stare and the dominance radiating off of him. His aura was so different than Lucifer's. You found comfort in him and his dominance. You found his pride and confidence attractive and secure, but Diavolo's was so… threatening… so… overwhelming.
And then it started. The Demon Lord even managed to get a pastor, which was irony in itself. Honestly you don't remember much of what the guy was saying. All you could see was Lucifer's pained expression behind Diavolo and your heart broke more with each moment passing, but you couldn't cry. You wouldn't let him see you that weak. You couldn't. You had to show Lucifer that you'd be strong, for him.
While you were debating on how to keep the tears from falling, you heard the word "vows" and immediately got pulled back into reality. The vows! You couldn't even have been bothered to write some lies on a piece of paper. Your eyes met Diavolo's in shock but you quickly recovered, knowing that no matter what words you would throw at the man, it would just fly over his head and be loved by the people of the Devildom regardless. You swallowed thickly before putting on the fakest smile you could muster, "Diavolo…" you started softly, trying so hard to keep your voice under control; slow, steady… like Lucifer taught you. "Over the past few months I have spent in the Devildom,... The months I got to know everyone, and most importantly meet and spend time with you, I started to fall deeper than I've ever fallen… for you…" you took a deep breath, trying so hard to keep the tears in the corners of your eyes, "it happened so fast, and i fell so hard, that I wasn't quite sure how it would end… but you caught me… and I… I have never felt safer, more at home, with anyone else, and I know that… for a lack of better words,... You are meant for me… a-and… I can't wait.. T-to spend the rest of my life… with you…" by the end of it, you couldn't help the tears from falling but Diavolo caught them with his thumbs, gently cupping your face while the whole Devildom was in awe. Silly humans don't know how to control their emotions; how sweet. The demon smiled down at you, ever so gently, before starting his own vows, "(Y/N)... Where do I even start? Bringing you here into my home, choosing you to step into my world, was the best decision I ever made. I always knew you were special, but I never knew how special you'd become to me. It was so sudden, so strong, so unexpected, that i almost didn't know how to handle it. Almost." You knew what he meant with that. And your eyes hardened at his words, the tears stopping from falling and his eyes glimmered with a smirk, "but I knew that I had to have you in my life, by my side. I knew I wanted to hold you, cherish you, love! You… until the end of time. I knew I needed you by my side for there is no one else better fit to be Queen, not only for my Kingdom, but for my heart. I love you, (Y/N)." The words dripped like poisoned honey from his tongue and the crowd went wild. Their king, may he be blessed with nothing but fortune, prosperity, and love, had found himself someone. Someone to lead them all into greatness, alongside him. You were so disgusted. Disgusted at how easily he could lie to his people, his "best" friend, and most importantly you, all while holding eye contact.
The pastor cleared his throat with a smile and nodded to the two best men, "the rings." Levi was the first to take a step toward you, holding out the cushion that the ring, Diavolo's ring, was laid upon. You took it, taking a moment to analyze it. It was pure gold and a single small amethyst was placed in the middle. You also noticed a small engravement inside: fide, regium, potentia; trust…  royalty…  power. You laughed internally at how ironic it was. Meanwhile, Lucifer also stepped forward with his cushion; he didn't want to meet Diavolo's yet, but he was not about to show any weakness; he had too much pride for that. So with a stern expression and hatred in his eyes, he matched Diavolo's stare. The Demon King smirked at his friend for only a moment before taking the ring. It was equally as gold, a bigger amethyst in the middle surrounded by diamonds. Yours also had something engraved in it: Fiducia, regium, obsequium; trust… royalty… submission.
You both turned back at each other, holding up the rings and the pastor continued, "(Y/N).. Repeat after me; with this Ring.." You took a deep breath and spoke, "with this Ring…" "I promise to keep by your side, to protect you, to stay loyal to you, to be honest with you, and to love you, through thick and thin, through good and bad, through sickness and health, until death do us apart."
You took a deep breath and repeated after him, "until death do us apart." You finished before placing the ring on his finger, hating how he smiled so lovingly down at you.
"Lord Diavolo, repeat after me." His smile only grew and you wanted to crawl into a hole away from his fake love. "With this Ring…" he looked at you and you could have sworn his eyes pierced straight through your soul. "With this Ring.. I promise to keep by your side, to protect you, to stay loyal to you, to be honest with you, and to love you, through thick and thin, through good and bad, through sickness and health, until death do us apart." He said it so softly, so sincerely that you almost believed him and then you felt the heavy band slide onto your finger and you glanced downward. It was a beautiful ring, you had to admit that, but no amount of beauty could fix the sadness in your heart.
"(Y/N) (L/N), do you take this man to be your lawfully wedded husband? If so, please say 'I do'". You took a deep breath and mustered a smile, "I do." Diavolo returned your smile before the pastor continued, "and do you, Lord Diavolo, take (Y/N) (L/N) to be your lawfully wedded wife?" He was grinning at you now, knowing that with those two words he had ultimately won. He had succeeded in betraying his best friend, being on his way to unite the realms and be more powerful than anyone on them, and in securing his spot as ruler. With those few words, he had the worlds at his fingertips.
"I do." The pastor smiled and looked between you two, "then I announce you husband and wife; you may kiss the bride." It was like music to his ears. Nothing could keep you apart now; you were officially and humanly legally his and no one could take that from him. He felt like a winner when he lifted your veil from your face and his gaze fixated onto your pink lips. He smirked as he saw your eyes wander over his shoulders to meet Lucifer's, who couldn't bear to look at the sight, and he pulled you flush against him as his lips met yours all while hearing the Kingdom erupt over you.
The kiss was nothing like you've ever experienced; nothing like Lucifer had ever given you. It was hungry, obsessive, superior, and you hated how much you liked the feeling of his lips against yours, hated how, once he pulled away, it left you longing for more.

~
It had been a few days since the battle with Leviathan and things went terribly wrong. I was knocked out after I had gotten the hydrean’s power so I barely remember much but what I know now is that Luna is dead… We didn’t even get a chance to speak before I had found out from Ignis that she was gone. The pain I felt in my chest was unbearable as I cried alone, looking through the book Luna and I used to talk through. I wish that I was strong enough, that I could have her with me. All I wanted to do was save her… yet I failed at that. I failed my friends also. Ignis is blind now. I don’t know how that happened since I didn’t ask and he didn’t tell me. “It’s just a flesh wound” was all that I was told though it looked like he put up one hell of a fight. Dammit… why can’t I protect the ones I love? First it was Dad… and now Luna is gone too? I must become stronger. Not only will I get the power from the other gods and the rest of the royal arms but I will train harder and work harder. I will make sure that my friends don’t even lift a finger. That’s not how we usually do things but I’m sick and tired of always being protected yet the ones I love keep dying. What kind of Prince can’t even protect his people? Pft…Some kind of King I’ll be someday.
We had to board the train in a few days to head to Cartanica, though we had no money. We were all still pretty worn out from Leviathan and even though Gladio wanted to keep moving forward, Ignis insisted that we have some cash first and at least some rest afterwards. Altissia was a wreck so there would be no way we could find hunts to take up there. With nowhere to stay either, we got on Dad’s boat and headed back to Cape Caem. We wouldn’t go too far into Lucis considering that we had to leave again after a few days. Iris was happy to see us again, though she said we looked a mess and that she should’ve been there to protect us. Of course Gladio didn’t even want to consider the thought of his sister being there and having the possibility of something happening to her but they are Amicitia’s after all. It was their job to protect the Royal family.
We drove up to a nearby town and found a post about some hunts that needed to be taken care of. With the amount of gil being offered for one of them, we would be set to go. This was my chance to prove myself.. To prove that I can protect my friends. Ignis was in no shape to fight. He can’t even see! He’s using a stick to walk around but without the help of Gladio or Prompto, he keeps knocking into things. All I can keep thinking of is Luna and Dad… Part of me knew I had to get stronger but if I didn’t have to keep fighting anymore, I would just get in bed and sleep for a week. Apparently, Gladio noticed my moping and we got into a huge fight.
“The hell is your problem?”
I was caught off guard.
“What?”
“All you do is sit around your ass moping. You need to deal with what happened and move on”.
The hell??
“Move on?? I’m here aren’t I? If I wasn’t moving on then I wouldn’t even be trying to do any of this!”
“Yet you wish you didn’t even have to deal with any of this. You carry that ring around with you yet you don’t wear it. Luna didn’t give her life for nothing. Ignis took one for you too and for what!?”
“Enough Gladio!” I heard Ignis yell out.
“You think you’re a king but you’re a coward.”
I couldn’t even believe what I was hearing right now. Me? A coward? After everything we've been through?? The hell with him.
“Shut up!”
“Don’t do this!”
I saw out of the corner of my eye that Prompto tried to get involved but Gladio shoved him in the face. Part of me didn’t even care that he was my bodyguard, I was ready to fight him like he was some regular on the street. I decided against it though and just walked away. I didn’t want to deal with any of them right now.
It was night time now and the hunt we got were for the daemons at this time. It was raining too which was just my luck. Anyways, now was my chance to show Gladio that I wasn’t a coward. I didn’t believe in myself as King but I didn’t have any other choice. I was going to do this whether I liked it or not. I was so conflicted in my head, deciding on what I would do. I just had to go through with it.
It was an Iron Giant for a start. We knew what we were up against but seeing it actually in front of you was a completely different thing. Whatever. I decided to charge head on into the thing.
“Noct! The hell are you doing!?” I heard Gladio yell out. I didn’t care. As much as he deserved to get punched in the face, I wasn’t going to let anything happen to him. I hit the Iron Giant several times before I was almost hit.
“Hey buddy, you aren’t alone in this! Take it easy and let us help!”. Prompto yelled out as he shot his gun. I ignored him.
All I wanted to do was fight. If I had to take out my frustration in some way, it would be on this Iron Giant. I completely blocked everyone out, distracting the giant from them.
“I won’t let you hurt my friends!” I yelled out before activating the royal arms that I had for more strength. I knew in the back of my mind that using the royal arms would take a toll on my health if I over did it but with the Giant almost down and so I had to give it the best I had. I slashed through it from every angle. The guys were trying their best to fight and I could hear the constant yelling. I was so lost in the moment that I didn’t realize I ran out of stamina already and felt light headed. The rain made me slip from the Iron Giant’s sword as I fell to the ground, though it wasn’t a high fall. Man, I really wasn’t feeling good at all. I was so out of breath and couldn’t even get to my feet before the thing smacked me out of the way with its sword. The pain was unbearable as I cried out.
“Was that Noct?? Is he alright??” Ignis yelled out in the distance.
“Nocttttt!” Prompto yelled out.
“This thing is on its last legs, just take it down already!” Gladio yelled out before him and Prompto gave the final blow... or so I thought. I was so dizzy and hurt that I passed out.
~
I awoke in the tent at camp, not knowing what the hell happened. I knew I was fighting the Iron Giant but did I kill it? I tried to sit up but the pain shot up though my body as I hissed at it. I then noticed that I didn’t have a shirt on. I had bandages around my waist covered in some blood and my head. Shit… did I really get hurt that bad? I looked around to see if I could find my shirt which I did and put it on. Knowing the guys were outside, I tried my best to get up. Wincing at the pain, I made it out before I had two eyes staring at me. Ignis heard me leave the tent.
“Noct is that you?” he asked me.
“Yeah” I said as I found a seat by the campfire. There wasn’t any food considering that Ignis couldn’t cook anymore. I would go for anything right now.
“Hey buddy, you’re awake!” Prompto said to me. “This is for you.” Cup noodles. Oh well, it was better than nothing. “Thanks” I told him.
“How are you feeling Noct?” Ignis asked me. I wish I could say I felt great but I was in a lot of pain still.
“Still in pain but I’ll live” I told him.
“The hell were you thinking fighting on your own like that?” Gladio snapped at me. “You could have been killed.”
I sighed as I looked down. That was a little dangerous for me to go all out on my own to the point that I got sick and hurt. But it was for them.
“I know that I acted I reckless like that but… I had to protect you guys. After all that we’ve been through and all that happened so far, I didn’t want to lose you guys too.”
“Yeah well we would have lost you instead for charging into that thing like that. What good would Lucis be without a King?” he said back to me.
King… was I even fit to be King after all of this? I didn’t want to let them in on my doubts and risk being in another fight with Gladio but I would never be the King my Dad was. I stood quiet.
“We understand that you want to protect us, Noct but our duty is to protect you. True strength does not come from facing danger alone but working together to defeat our enemy” Ignis said. I looked at him as he looked down, holding his empty cup of noodles. I sighed again. He was fight. We were stronger together, we were meant to protect one another.
“We care for you bud. Can’t have you not being in top shape for what’s to come” Prompto told me. You’re not alone in your fight. We all have people that we lost”.
Lost… I was so caught up in my own act that I didn’t even think of their losses. We all had a home back in Insomnia; a place that we couldn’t return to. I knew Gladio’s Dad was the shield of my father. Did he die too? What about Prompto’s family… or Ignis?
“I didn’t want to let you guys down” I finally said. It was the honest truth.
“Me calling you a coward didn’t mean you had to head on straight to your death. You may be a royal pain in my ass but you’re still my brother.
I looked up at Gladio when he said that. Sure he was tough about things and the way he spoke sometimes can come off as harsh but he only meant the best for me. He always knew how to get me to pull my head out of my ass and keep fighting no matter what, no matter if I liked how he said it or not.
“I’m sorry” I said.
Gladio sighed. “Don’t be sorry, just let us do our part next time. We have Ignis to take care of now. We work together as one.”
I agreed. I don’t regret what I did because the intention of wanting to do better and get stronger was there but I do admit that I had to fight with them and not alone. These guys were my brothers and even though I never said it to them, I loved them.
“I love you guys” I said. I was never pretty vocal about my emotions but it had to be said.
“We love you too buddy” Prompto said. Gladio and Ignis agreed.
“When are we heading out to take the train?” I asked.
“Oh we won’t be leaving any time soon” Gladio said. “You aren’t in the shape for it”.
“Gladio is right”, Ignis said. “Judging by what Gladio said about your wounds, you must heal up first before we go.”
Right.. I had forgotten all about the pain, being wrapped up in conversation.
“Aww look at that. A royal prince being taken care of by us. All three of us. Who better yet to take care of you than us?” Prompto cooed out.
I laughed and shoved his arm before wincing again. They were a pain in my ass as well but what could I do without them...

DualShockers’ Game of the Year 2018 Staff Lists — Chris’s Top 10
As 2018 comes to a close, DualShockers and our staff are reflecting on this year’s batch of games and what were their personal highlights within the last year. Unlike the official Game of the Year 2018 awards for DualShockers, there are little-to-no-rules on our individual Top 10 posts. For instance, any game — not just 2018 releases — can be considered.
In a year that I characterize with existential fear and internal anxiety, 2018 is when I figured out that while video games may not save society, they can at least help the individual. “Escapism” is an overused and reductive term, with the games I dug into providing a variety of positive forces: inspiration, awe, contemplation, camaraderie, and so on and so forth. This was also a year where I tried my darndest to play video games just to try to make myself feel happy.
But enough of that sappy stuff. I got some games to talk about, and this might come across as an unusual bunch. Most of this year for me was spent catching up with games from previous years, mainly titles that I waited for Switch ports. Once I was informed that games from any release year were fair game, the list that I already had was suddenly in flux.
First off, let’s pour one out for the titles that made my shortlist, but not my final top ten, including Hollow Knight (Switch), Dead Cells, Sea of Thieves, Wolfenstein II (Switch), Heaven Will Be Mine, Marvel’s Spider-Man, and Red Dead Redemption 2: the latter three are games that I wrote pieces for on DualShockers, all which I linked to. Also, I never got a chance to play Florence, The Messenger, Gris, Return of the Obra Dinn, or Donut County as of this writing, and these were all titles I was looking forward to.
To be quite honest, this list, especially the tenth spot, kept changing every few hours. But I had a strict deadline for this, so let’s capture, in time, how I felt about games during this particular hour before I regret everything:
10. A Way Out
Okay, it’s here where I’ll straight up admit that this list is a weird one. I can’t particularly say that A Way Out is an exceptional game, but the experience of playing it was just fascinating. I played the main story with a close friend over two days, and while much of the core gameplay is standard or contrived, I couldn’t help but want to explore the environment and all of the activities that surrounded us. Well, at least after you break out of that prison.
A Way Out inspired the part of me that just wanted to break games. I wanted to see what my limits were, or if positioning our characters in a certain place together would prompt anything, or if there were activities that I can cheat in. While I was disappointed that some of the final missions of the game turned into an Uncharted ripoff with a Scarface vibe, the turn at the end of the game was peak “me trying to break this game.” Boy, was this fun—and the experience was so memorable to me that A Way Out just barely slipped into the list. Congrats, “f*** the Oscars” guy!
Check out the DualShockers review of A Way Out.
9. Call of Duty: Black Ops 4
The general narrative around the Call of Duty games seems to be that the series just hasn’t been the same since Modern Warfare 2. There’s a bit of truth to that, but I must admit that I’ve always had a soft spot for Treyarch’s Black Ops subseries. The stories are usually absurd fun, but in terms of new features and gameplay mechanics, Treyarch has been forward-thinking. While I loved Black Ops II, Black Ops III proved to be a massive disappointment. Against my expectations, Treyarch won me back the fourth time.
Obviously, there’s less story here this time around, but the multiplayer is what keeps us all going anyway. I have to admit my surprise about how manual healing subtly changed up the gameplay—it may seem like a small addition, but I felt that I had a bit more agency and control as a result, and it added a small new layer of strategy. Blackout is a blast, and as someone who missed out on the PUBG craze when it first debuted (though I made up for that on PS4), the Call of Duty interpretation of it quickly won me over. Exploring that map also made me realize how weirdly nostalgic I was for World at War and the Black Ops games—maybe a silly thing to have reverence over, but a reverence I hold, regardless.

8. Fortnite
That new-fangled video game with the floss dancing might be the most basic thing to like in 2018, but gosh darn it, I still fell victim to its charms. With cross-play finally making its way to Fortnite this year across all consoles, this battle royale game became the default multiplayer option amongst my circles. While I’ve never been wild about the gunplay, exploring the evolving map and learning how to utilize building to its fullest potential has been a truly unique and exciting experience.
And speaking of that evolution, I am just floored by how Fortnite’s battle royale mode just keeps adding elements and changing everything up. I was already thrilled when the golf carts were added, but last I saw, you can fly a freaking biplane now. The crazy map events inspire intrigue, and even though there is only one map, the fact that it changes regularly somehow keeps it all fresh. Do I think that it’s lousy that Epic is stealing dance moves? Oh yeah. But will my friends and I keep playing it? Probably. Ugh. Sorry, all.

7. Tetris Effect
I’m often thrown the question of how Tetris is able to make me relax when the gameplay is inherently stressful. Still, to this day, I struggle to come up with words to describe that phenomenon. Luckily, Tetris Effect made that much easier to explain—I still don’t use words, but instead, I simply point someone towards some gameplay and ask them to use their eyes and ears. In case you don’t know by now, Tetris Effect is a gorgeous game, and it ended up as one of the most therapeutic experiences I’ve had with any piece of media this year.
It’s a game that just wants to inspire joy and inspiration, using historical and cultural imagery; sometimes its lifting and appropriating, but that’s an entirely different discussion for later. It wants you to admire the feats of humankind throughout millennia, but even if you couldn’t give a damn about humanism, it still sure looks pretty. I greatly appreciate how completing the Journey mode will allow players to simply enjoy the sensory experiences by themselves, because this game can get really difficult at times. Most of all, Tetris Effect affirms my love for adaptive soundtracks, something that you can only really find in games.

6. God of War
I can certainly see why the DualShockers staff picked God of War for the top prize this year. I had never touched any of the previous games in the series, and father-son stories are a bit played out at this time, but I rode the wave of PlayStation 4 first-party “prestige” titles, third-person character-focused action games like Uncharted, Horizon: Zero Dawn, and the like. While I completely fell off of Horizon last year, God of War surprisingly entranced me.
The single take camerawork in God of War is a gimmick for sure, but as a big fan of Alfonso Cuarón, I’m a sucker for it. I appreciated a new take on Norse mythology that wasn’t from the Marvel Cinematic Universe for once, and the world was large and interesting without being intimidating. Combat in God of War hasn’t won everyone over, but it was a system that I strived to get better at. Ultimately, I stayed on because of Christopher Judge and Sunny Suljic (who was excellent in Mid90s, by the way). And it doesn’t necessarily need repeating, but God of War looks real, real nice, even on my above average display.
To be real though, it’s all about recalling that Leviathan Axe. That’s a cool-ass feature.

5. Celeste
Challenging platformers always scare me away. Why do you think I’ve never played Super Meat Boy? I couldn’t tell you how I got over the fence and ended up purchasing Celeste—maybe it was my love for Towerfall or the fact that I wouldn’t stop hearing about how good Lena Raine’s soundtrack was. Regardless, Celeste helped me get over my irrational fear of difficult games.
Here’s the thing about the game: it’s really easy to play! Well, not easy to finish, mind you, but Celeste was more intuitive and inviting than I made it out to be at first. Pretty quickly any frustration I expected was instead replaced with determination. The trial-and-error nature of the game made me think carefully rather than rage like games with consistent deaths usually do. It also helps that Madeline is just a fun protagonist.
Celeste is just a wonderful mix of gameplay, music, and writing, and anyone who doesn’t like it is just not a good person. Got it?
Check out the DualShockers review of Celeste.
4. Night in the Woods (Switch)
There are so few stories that accurately depict the aimlessness of the formative 20s age range, and Night in the Woods is really the only one that I can think of off the top of my head. I won’t get into any self-flagellation here in describing how miserable my own 20s are (I wrote about that elsewhere, if you’re curious), but I will say that the story and art style provided some healing during particularly difficult times in my life this year. The Switch port came just in time for me.
Mae, Gregg, Bea, and Angus are all wonderfully-realized characters; the dynamics and dialogue between them were a delight, and sometimes painfully realistic, from my own social experiences. There’s not too much gameplay to speak of, but I looked forward to each new in-game day to walk around the town and see what the folks I passed by had to say. The story took a real Stephen King-meets-Hot Fuzz turn, and I was down for it. It captures so much truth, and is one of the most authentic pieces of media I know of—and this is one where all the characters are animals.
Check out the DualShockers review of Night in the Woods.
3. Hitman 2
Agent 47, you are one weird dude, and I love you so. As I mentioned in my written review for this website, the “first” Hitman game in 2016 was one that I watched constantly, basically playing it vicariously. With this new game, I graduated to finally, uh, playing it, and almost every moment of it, whether it was a moment of success, failure, or absurdity, has been worth it. Hitman 2, more than any other game this year, is one where if I even think about it, I will have the visceral urge to play it immediately.
I know that I am encouraged to commit these assassinations as smoothly and quietly as possible, but nothing brings me more joy than a contrived plan gone awry. Hitman 2, while very similar to the previous game, added so many fun toys to play with inside its expansive sandboxes. Even with Mission Stories to somewhat guide me, I always found ways to come up with left-field solutions to seemingly simple problems. Stealthily murdering terrible people has never been so much more fun.
Check out the DualShockers review of Hitman 2.
2. Wandersong
I’ve spent the past several months annoying the hell out of everyone I know about this lovely piece of art from Greg Lobanov. Wandersong, in case this is the first time I’m annoying you about it, is a wholesome story-driven game that thematically deconstructs “the hero’s journey.” You play as the Bard, someone without the physical constitution to even pick up a sword, yet is able to use the power of song and vocals to their advantage. It’s a game about a person spreading happiness not only to the game’s world, but to whoever is playing it.
It isn’t too complicated to play, and the song wheel mechanics are a bit finicky at times, but playing through the entire game was such a profound experience for me. Not only did I appreciate its handling of familiar narrative tropes, but I also admired its depiction of mental health and depression. You can tell that Greg and his friends and colleagues put a lot of love into the game’s visuals, sound, writing, and design, and I’m eternally grateful for their work.
Check out the DualShockers review of Wandersong.
1. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
It’s a tad bit unfair to put Super Smash Bros. Ultimate at the top of my list. Not only did it release so late in the year, but it’s essentially the game of games. I’ve been obsessed with the series since its first iteration on the Nintendo 64, and Ultimate represents such a fantastic evolution of the franchise, and this evolution comes in surprising forms. More so than even its predecessors does it come across more like a celebration to basically every franchise that Nintendo has ever even touched.
I’m not just talking about the Spirits, though those are fun in their own way—the World of Light campaign is long and exhausting, but I remain gleeful every time I see a creative Spirit concept. I’m not just talking about the music, even though the option of creating playlists and basically using your Switch as a music player with its screen turned off is absolutely genius. I just appreciate recent Smash efforts to having characters play like they came out straight from their own games. The trend started with Mega Man in the previous Smash, I feel, but new additions like Simon Belmont and Inkling (from my beloved Splatoon) really take everything further.
I don’t think people talk about this enough, but Smash Bros. is just a great-looking game. It’s a happy medium between the darker look of Brawl and the cartoony colors of the fourth Smash Bros., and I am still in awe by how Ultimate is able to make all of these characters, with totally different designs, aesthetics, and body proportions, look like they all belong together in the same game.
Everyone is here, indeed.

0. Nickelodeon Kart Racers
Did you know that they misspelled “brake” as “break” in the controls menu? Jeez, what a mess.
