A couple of thoughts on today’s events in the GO fandom:

- OMG

- I did see it, but in the interest of keeping things under wraps until July 28th, I will not share any leaks or spoilers publicly, but at the same time...

- How did that even happen?!

- Amazon Prime is to blame for the leak, not the fans. There is no faction of “good” GO fans who haven’t shared the spoiler vs. “bad” GO fans who did because they were genuinely excited and saw something shared by an official source. People have the right to be excited after months (years, even) of no content of any kind, just as much as people have the right to be disappointed or not want spoilers.

- ...But Neil reblogging and agreeing with this post is almost certain to create division and once again sets up fans as targets. The coddling of Neil is also disconcerting to witness, as if he is a child rather than a grown adult man. There was no context for the spoiler and nothing else to give us clues for what was happening and while yes, it’s understandable that he feels frustrated/upset, that does not give him the right to further punch down on the fans (who are undoubtedly easier targets than his boss(es) at Amazon).

- We absolutely must have promo interviews with Michael and David in the weeks leading up to July 28th because they will be the stuff of legend and if we do not get any interviews, I will simply perish.

How come people whose DNI lists I’m on will interact with me. You’re going to file a restraining order and then walk into my house, unawares? the realization that tumblr does not work like twitter and i cant just vague post about random discourse or arguments otherwise people will wrongfully assume its about them has flipped my whole life upside down

with how the splat 3 fanbase is acting about splatfests, you'd think there's something real and tangible on the line and not like, superficial bragging rights and a few extra snails. idk why people are sitting here and getting angry at shiver as if she's a real person who has any actual will to do anything and not just pixels on a screen, especially when there are legitimate issues with how splatfests are designed and run in splat3, and that's the devs and nintendo's fault, not shiver. she's not real and she can't do anything to you. and i've seen way more complaining about the concept of "toxic shiver stans who always pick shiver and ruin it for everyone" than i have any actual evidence that these kind of people exist on a mass scale. it really feels like that kind of person is a guy that the fanbase made up to be mad at every time they lose. i agree that there are huge problems with splat 3 but the moment someone lays the blame on shiver they throw all credibility out the window. it's not shiver, there's no evil cult of shiver stans manipulating the splatfests, and don't get me started on how people are talking about the asian playerbase with these splatfests.

hating on FOMO is really just - tell me you don’t like a good eddie (and a good QUEER!EDDIE at that) episode if it isn’t also a buddie episode without telling me you only watch for buddie (and/or buck), isn’t it?

also - tell me you don’t understand lucy was a good storytelling device for buck’s story, without telling me you don’t understand how media/storytelling works and/or get extremely unreasonably upset about female characters getting even a single fucking line (lucy wasn’t even really IN this episode much, yet people are so upset about it)

also - tell me you don’t enjoy good platonic, familial and romantic relationships on this show (eddie and may, maddie and buck, madney+jee-yun, henren, athena and may and I am probably forgetting something here) if they aren’t buddie without telling me THAT YOU ONLY WATCH FOR BUDDIE AND CAN’T FUCKING APPRECIATE A GOOD EPISODE AND GOOD WRITING IF IT DOESN’T HAVE ANY BUDDIE CONTENT

It seems that this person has already blocked me, but this was in response to several Anons that I got regarding AL/tonight's interview with Michael and David on the One Show. A few comments that I'd like to make:

First of all, the chemistry we see on screen is absolutely between Michael and David, because that is the entire point. Aziraphale and Crowley would not have the connection and chemistry they do if it weren't for Michael and David--this was the case four years ago, and it is even more so the case now. To say otherwise is to willfully overlook and ignore literally everything Michael has ever said, and specifically just said in this interview, which I highlighted in the above-mentioned post:

Michael has said in the past how he does not know where the line is between him and Aziraphale, and he is again making that lack of distinction very clear, yet people are still choosing to pretend this isn't the case, which is mind-blowing to me.

It's also interesting that this person wrote in a subsequent call-out post (which I will not link to) of "misogyny" in the fandom, yet entirely reduces Georgia and Anna to being Michael and David's "wives" (which AL is not, as she and Michael are not married, and she is his girlfriend). This is the same tired old argument that suggest fans hate their favorites' significant others, as if none of us have reasons to dislike either Georgia or AL based on their own merits.

I'm particularly intrigued by the use of the word "branding," which is not at all the positive take this person seems to think it is. "Branding" implies that a narrative is being forwarded, but if the friendship between Georgia and AL was genuine, why would that be necessary? To me, Michael and David are good friends (at the very least) and their relationship stands on its own--far outside of and removed from Staged. But if this person is going by Staged as a parameter for Georgia and AL being friends, why is that also not just "the characters," as they've said about Michael and David in Good Omens? Curious, that...

TL;DR: So tired of the mental gymnastics involved with people continuously jumping through hoops to defend Georgia and AL while completely ignoring what Michael and David (especially Michael) are putting out into the universe...

Always very funny (read: annoying) to me how frequently people will say something like, "Oh, I love fucked-up fictional relationships, I love TOXIC ROMANCE, I need my ships to have Problems™ that would make even the most stoic adult cringe in shame" and then vehemently reject literally any fictional romantic dynamic that involves a woman being horrible.

ok to add on the topic of minor coding i just don't get why it's even a concept. like queer coding exists bc of literal homophobia transphobia ect. which impedes queer stories from being told openly so they end up being portrayed allegorically or in a less overt way so as not to offend the precious cishets. but there's no 'minorphobia' stopping people from adding actual minor characters Lol if people wanted a child character they would just make them .... a child.... why would you need to be subliminal about it??

OKAY OKAY THANK YOU LMAO im sorry, i flood all my discourse related posts with things like "JUST MY OPINION! NO HATE! PLEASE DONT HATE ME!" because ive had situations before on the internet where people misunderstand me or hate me just because we have differing opinions and they think that means we cant get along, and ive lost cool mutuals because of it so.. idk i can just be a little paranoid about stuff like that lol..

plus, i have seen some people on here get pretty defensive ? luckily, the people WITHIN the shipping community on here dont actually get that bad from what ive seen, its more sexuality hc discourse that gets real heated in this fandom lol.. (so its more the shipping side as a whole that gets hated on instead of us hating on each other..) but either way, i just try very hard to basically put the fact that im very welcoming of differing opinions in flashing lights because i just hateee the idea of being hated because of a simple misunderstanding.. (plus, i LOVE friendly debates when it doesnt get too genuinely defensive.. thats why i enjoy posting that kind of thing so much even though im afraid of negative consequences !! i love being given reasoning for why people would think differently..)

also, i love that kubosai haters can follow me despite almost my entire blog being kubosai.. i love you lol youre a real one.. (EDIT IM ADDING THIS TO SAY THAT I ALSO FOLLOW MULTIPLE PEOPLE THAT R ALMOST EXCLUSIVELY TORISAI WHICH I DONT LIKE AS PREVIOUSLY STATED SO. I GET IT LOL.)
