Ginaaa!!! Do you have any fic recs where H and L are neighbours?? ily 💕
I can't believe I haven't done a neighbors fic rec yet! I don’t have a ton, but these are all really good.
In Dreams by dolce_piccante (M, 24K) This actually might be my favorite of this author’s fics, although I know it’s definitely not the most popular. It’s just soft and romantic and sweet and I’m a sucker for tattoo artist Louis winning over slightly uptight Harry.
Speaking of Marvels by navigator, quitter (E, 101K) This was one of the first fics I read in this fandom, but I read it again recently and had forgotten how really wonderful it is. The writing is so lovely and the characters feel so well developed. I especially loved how the authors explored how differently the two of them would respond to their relationship given the different stages of life they were in. It made the romance and the attraction and the angst feel really real.
Caught By the Sun by metal_eye / @metal-eye (M, 19K) Sometimes you just stumble on a fic that moves you deeply and makes you feel a lot and sits with you after you’ve finished it. This was one of those fics for me. It’s beautifully written in a quiet, poetic way. It’s thoughtful, and intimate, and full of memories that are both melancholy and beautiful in all the right ways and at all the right times. And it’s a fic that’s not been read nearly enough.
Your Name Is Tattooed On My Heart my mcpofife (E, 87K) I reread this one recently and it's truly delightful. The characterizations are so well done. Harry is so endearing (I cried over his heartbreak). And the smut is both hot and really emotional. Love this one.
we can only look behind by hereforlou (M, 66K) Absolutely gorgeous writing. Childhood friends to lovers fic that made me cry multiple times (Yes, I was a mess). This one had such realistic expression of emotions and such three-dimensional characterizations. Just loved it. (link is a download)
hit me with your sweet love, steal me with a kiss by icedwaters (E, 28K) Well, how can I turn down a fic that has the tag #literally after their first kiss it's just sex. This one was cute and sexy and a lot of fun.
once bitten and twice shy by @pinkcords (M, 19K) First of all, for a first fic in this fandom, I thought this author really did a nice job with their characterizations. I especially liked the way they captured Harry’s anger and humiliation and stubbornness. There’s a beefy epilogue as well which I haven’t had a chance to read!
Can't Shake You Out by fackinglouis (T, 8K) Cute, funny, misunderstandings lead to love.
it's all fun and games until by louisandthealien (E, 6K) Everything this author writes is just... so good. This one has a fantastic internal monologue from Louis, it’s sweet and sexy, and just a perfect little uni AU.

i'm currently reading "no good unless it's real" by fackinglouis. the description says, "Louis is a very busy farmer who’s just trying to make it to his next nap and Harry’s the new hot vet that’s determined to infiltrate every area of his life." I am in love with it so far! The characterization is very good and it's a smooth read so far! i love how much harry makes jokes. highly recommend!

I don’t have many, but I like all of these a lot.
Your Name Is Tattooed On My Heart by mcpofife (E, 87K) I reread this one recently and it's truly delightful. The characterizations are so well done. Harry is so endearing (I cried over his heartbreak). And the smut is both hot and really emotional. Love this one.
In Dreams by dolce_piccante (M, 24K) This actually might be my favorite of this author’s fics, although I know it’s definitely not the most popular. It’s just soft and romantic and sweet and I’m a sucker for punk tattoo artist Louis winning over slightly uptight Harry.
Life Saver by objectlesson (E, 31K) This author always excels as describing that heady confusion of falling for someone — especially when it’s a story focused on young love. This one has sweet punk Louis falling for his nerdy, feminine lab partner. (link is to a download... give it a minute to load, for some reason it's funky).
oops, i like you by say_thanks (E, 6K) This is just lovely and sweet and sexy as fuck and I love this writer's writing.
These Constant Stars by stylinsoncity (M, 31K) Punk Harry/Fashion Designer Louis. This author has written so many great fics and this one is really lovely. I also always like when one of the boys is not what he seems to be on first glance.
No Bunny But You by @crinkle-eyed-boo I loved the banter in this one! The flirting was fun and so well done and even though it all takes place in one day, I got a great sense of them getting to know each other and opening up. And the smut scene was super hot. Punk artist Louis/Bartender Harry
can i make it any more obvious? by slashter (E, 36K) This one was written a while back, so the characterizations feel pretty dated, and I read it ages ago, so it may have some questionable things in it because my tastes have changed a lot. I celebrated my one year directionversary a month ago. I’ve loved being in this fandom and being a larry but I realized something very important: I haven’t read enough of the classic fics. I think I’ve read like three.
