Hii hope you have a wonderful day today! -I wanted to ask something to make sure im not being mean but- is it possible for an Ace person to be Aphobic? Im in a fandom where there used to be a Ace character- he said he was- thing is, the show never said he was SexRepulsed- but fans took his lack of interest as such. believed he was in fact SexRepulsed. -that character is gone- now, there is yet another character (think, a reboot of the old one) believed to be Ace but this time, he seems to be ok with touch an even seems very friendly ~ with only one character. my ask is, if some people view this second version, as still Ace. but sex favorable, is that aphobic? is maybe having another view on this chracter that is questioning himself, a bad thing? because this is said a lot, that ppl is being aphobic for "refusing to accept he is sex repulsed" or "using the fact he is questioning himself to ship him" (mind you-most shipart is literally hand holding and being buddies) hope Im making sense- im so lost and I trust your blog to help me (because im also scared to be harrased for asking this inside that fandom)
Hey! (We got your other ask, I got half way through answering it and then forgot, so I will get to that soon I promise) Good to hear from you again :) I ended up going a little off topic here, but I hope I managed to fully answer this (if not, just send another one). Also get ready for some parentheses.
In answer to the first part of your question, yes ace people can be aphobic (many ace people can be arophobic, but also acephobic, both to people who share their own identity and others who have a different identity under the ace umbrella).
This is a pretty interesting question actually, because there is acephobia at play in the situation you're describing, but not necessarily in the way those people mean. It is NOT acephobic to have a sex favourable ace character, that's fine, because there are sex favourable aces out there and they're just as much a part of our community as those who are indifferent, averse, repulsed, or some sort of mixture. Sex favourable aces have just a much right to see themselves represented as sex averse aces, but unfortunately, there is so little asexual representation that it can feel like if one flavour of ace people are represented, that that representation has been taken away from aces of other flavours.
It's totally understandable to feel that way, but that doesn't mean those feelings are actually justified? And people get pretty negative reactions for complaining about any lack of rep, which can lead to bad feelings all round and just creates even more of a divide between us. We have to understand that our individual experiences not being represented is NOT the fault of other ace people. It's not fair to want one group to miss out on representation, just so another can get theirs. Additionally, it can be important for people who are questioning or struggling with their identity to work through that in their art, and explorations of things like touch aversion and touch starvation can be very nuanced because one person can experience both to very high degrees, and they each can even compound the other. And, a sex favourable asexual person will not feel the same way about sex as an allosexual person, and that is an equally nuanced and interesting (and fun) thing to be able to explore.
I don't know what media this ask is about, so I can't comment on specifics, but I can admit, I've been frustrated by this sort of thing in the past; it can be really hard to shake an instinct to push back when you feel like you're being treated unfairly, but sometimes we do have to step back and understand that everyone in our community feels the same way, we just want to see ourselves and to feel seen by others. As a person who is both aro and ace, and doesn't want to have sex or be in a romantic relationship, I don't feel represented by characters who are alloace in the way an alloace person does, or sex/romance favourable aroace characters in the way sex favourable aroace people do, but they probably feel that same way when they see aro characters or sex averse characters. It does really suck when people outside of the community ignore and erase the identities of aspec characters because they don't feel our experiences are interesting or valuable enough to represent and explore, but that isn't what's happening on an intracommunity level (as in, within the ace community).
The recent discourse about shipping aroace characters has sort of been getting me down, because it's a complex topic and rather than being a black-or-white, two sides thing, there are people with good and bad takes (mostly bad, let's be real) coming from so many different directions, there is so much nuance it would take me much more than one little answer to cover (and let me tell you, if I were to try, it would not be on this blog!). I might have said this before, but I tend to avoid fandoms of media with canon aroace characters for the most part for this exact reason, and within the community we are SO far ahead of where the rest of the world (and even the rest of the queer community) sees aspec people, I genuinely believe (call it cynical if you like) that this will continue to be a problem for several more years. And like, you can just block people and move on with your life, your fandom experience will be so much more enjoyable if you block people who say shit you think sucks, aphobic or not. Everyone should do this.
I think this is probably long enough now, and I've definitely missed something important, but I hope it helped.

It's kind of insane how asking people to actually familiarize themselves with something before having an opinion on it is even all that demanding of others? like even past just asking people to respect visual novels as a medium its the same type of like. stubbornness and pride that I see in people who also broadly declare all horror as homogenous and trite, just torture porn for the *freaks*. or like those people who make distinctions between silly little relaxing games and real high octane gamer games because it makes them feel important. like they're above that genre/medium and they shouldn't have to lower themselves to enjoy it or even take the time to try it because its so beneath them, it needs to be spoonfed to them in easily understood terms. the media literacy issue is halfway people not letting themselves think critically (because its not just a random have it or you dont talent, you LEARN IT its a SKILL and a rather fun one at that) and half people who are prideful about it because the most complex thing they've ever engaged with is like. lord of the flies when they were made to read it in highschool when they absolutely didn't understand it and ever since have looked down on storytelling in general. the internet as an echo chamber def contributes to this to some extent because you can easily curate your own little corner but if you do it too much you basically make a closed room for yourself and any new idea is scary, something needing you to put in effort to understand is too hard and too frightening. i cannot stress enough that 'your experiences are not universal' also applies here, everyone can do whatever they want always and of course if you absolutely need to have an opinion when you aren't informed on the topic you can do that! but also literally no one will take it and likely most of your opinions seriously because all it does is show that you're too stubborn and prideful to even let yourself learn grow and change. you are not smart or unique for going against the current when the current is people inviting you to enjoy something they enjoy and reading/enjoying media isnt activism its just people doing something they like. this post was spurred by people who look down on visual novels for xyz arbitrary reasons but also it does not apply exclusively to visual novels literally just go out there and read/play through new media. anyways read popular visual novel fate stay night written by kinoko nasu released in 2004 so your opinions on saber can be informed and valid and after that. keep reading and watching more stuff. challenge yourself. maybe write or draw or create something. i believe in you.

My theory why Taekook are weird with jimin;
They don’t understand his popularity and therefore and threatened by it.
They both think they are better looking that jimin and thus should be way more popular than him. Like as we discussed, jungkook thinks jimin is ugly. So all the media obsession with jimin’s visuals, the artists who call him their muse, the girls and gays dying over him, the interviewers who become obsessed with him - probably confuses and unsettles the hell out of him. He knows taehyung is handsome so he’s not confused by taehyung’s popularity.
Jungkook and taehyung think they are more talented than him. And maybe jk is a better singer and taehyung is better at making faces, but overall jimin has the most captivating presence and out performs them but they don’t understand and that’s why they are so confused that the audience looses their shit for jimin.
Jimin isn’t as confident as them. But they don’t understand that so many people love that humility about jimin. They love his personality. But since they are dumb toxic Korean men they don’t get that.
So because they can’t understand why jimin is popular they are super threatened by it. It confuses them because they believe they deserve their popularity and jimin almost rivaling them doesn’t make sense to their smooth ass brains!
Yeah. This is why everyone who hates Jimin hates him, ultimately. Because he was never meant to succeed. He was set up for failure, from day one. He was given impossible ultimatum after impossible ultimatum and did everything, lost the weight, got the abs, squeezed into bts at the last minute, and none of them ever truly accepted him, not realizing bts without jimin would be NOTHING. and I mean that.
It's the 'they only hate you because they're jealous' excuse, but for real this time.
People really hate to see a pretty, hardworking, humble, kind-hearted girl win, huh? Spent years praying on his downfall and the only thing that came out of it was him doing HOT GIRL SHIT (alcoholism and tax evasion) and the 'he cant sing' excuse. Well neither can Th or Jin but you don't see them beating themselves up about it. Ever. Just big-headed and self-aggrandizing. Jin and Nj can't dance either yet you don't see anyone telling them to leave the group over it, because being 'all-rounded' has never been crucial for an idol. yet even though Jimin's dancing trumps everyone in the industry (except like 5 people) by MILES, his singing being mediocre is the thing everyone latches on. interesting.
but most of the media play doesn't focus on his singing, anyway. because the rest of bts would go down with him. no, everyone has always focused on his dancing and stage presence, his humility and altruism, his captivating aura. he's not 'almost' rivaling taekook in popularity, he is ALWAYS higher than them on the monthly brand rankings, and that number is always in the top 3. ALWAYS. he is always the one turning heads, making headlines, having people asking 'who's the cunty one?' when they came to america. so WHY was he boggled by insecurity for years? maybe it's time to realize the call is coming from INSIDE the house and all of bts were always the most jealous and spiteful of him and trying to set him up despite him being nothing but gracious and selfless to them all. I get that it's a popular cope that they all dote on him and love him, but the truth is, as evidenced by literally a decade of content, that Jm has always given out all of himself and gotten less than a pittance in return.
rapline at least kind of get hard work. they still hate him, but they're always the ones commenting on how much he practices. but the rest are so lazy and reliant on what they were born with (face for taejin and half decent vocals for jungkook) that their tiny little pea brains cannot BEGIN to comprehend that Jimin's dedication shines through in everything he does, and everyone sees it and falls in love with him instantly. while the rest of bts is left in the dust, bitter and washed up

I really can't stand the rep of our fandom when it comes to the people Harry publicly dates, pr or not. The fans put Taylor on blast for literally existing and living her life back in 2012, and then even though I'm personally not fond of Kendall as a person, I definitely don't think she deserved the way directioners treated her and called her an attention seeker just for being seen with H, and then at last they searched the ends of the earth for evidence to make Camille seem problematic and when they couldn't find anything, they edited a bunch of stuff as an excuse to spam vile comments on her social media accounts. Now none of these people were perfect human beings and some were actually worse than others but in no way was it okay for the internet to treat them the way they did just for the sake of their conspiracy theories and personal feelings about these women.
Now when it comes to miss Oily forehead, it's a completely different story. She deserves the criticism, the calling out, all the backlash for her irresponsible and ignorant tendencies and her disgusting actions in the past when she was a grown ass woman. But this is like the boy who cried wolf, nobody believes us now that we claim that we actually have a reason for disliking her.
Everyone assumes that we're just being the crazy fanbase that we are, generalising all of us as immature 14 year old Larry shippers or jealous fangirls without a life, and they refuse to look beneath the surface or even hear us out.
We've exhausted our chances, actually our predecessors, the wild bunch of directioners(not all of them obv, but the ones who were disrespectful) and the deranged Harries have made sure that the gp never takes us seriously and views Omicron as a "poor victim of cruel fans aww, c'mere gurlboss lemme give you a hug and a quirky tshirt (atleast she could finally stop stealing Harry's clothes then) and we're fellow feminists now" and moves on.
I've seen them go like "she's such a badass director, why are y'all scared of strong white straight skinny privileged rich women omg stop hating her you stupid kiddsss" and hence she never gets held accountable for her nasty actions.
The ones who claim to be proud HO shippers/believers are either blind people, or being held hostage or paid by Oatmeal to pretend to like/support her, or they're just feeling guilty for the years of unreasonable hate that Harry's partners, both rumoured and confirmed had recieved and now trying to redeem themselves by going ride or die for Omnipotence and being the "nice, respectful fans" as if Harry would give them a cookie for it or something (even if he did, that cookie would have a shipping charge so idk what delusional utopia these people are living in...oh right, that utopia is just the USA, sorry for being shady uhh anywaysss)
So long story short, I'm tired of us being portrayed as the bad guys for treating Origami the way she deserves to be treated, you gotta walk on eggshells in Twitter so they don't just say "well if she's problematic, then your fav LoVeS her and DaTeS herrr...so mathematically speaking, he's problematic too so stfuuuu " like no you stfu, you're gonna explain to these people that it's a stunt they're gonna pull the "why does HE need a stunt he's already famous af" like bestie I'm gonna run out of breath explaining this concept to your pea sized brain but I'll try anyways only for you to respond "Nice try but I ain't reading all that" like?? Then why did you ask if you're that rigid and airheaded?
And the infamous "you only hate Onion(I'm running out of names for her now) because she's DaTiNg Harry you didn't even care about her earlier"....umm, maybe because she was irrelevant af before she was associated with him? Connect the fucking dots?
Nvm I forgot these people have like 3 and a half mini braincells yet dominate the entirety of that bird app, I wonder why...yes, because that bird app is the place which makes hell looks like the Bahamas, yet it dominates the internet. I'm sorry for ranting but I'm so tired of people supporting Oak tree that much, she deserves to rot.

i think it’s underrated how much COVID could affect midterms. not only in red states where governors told parents trying to protect their kids in school to eff themselves, but (and sorry to be ghoulish) a lot of people have died! at this point, it’s mainly unvaxxed suffering the worst outcomes. voter suppression efforts depend on affecting votes at the margins, i don’t see why grownups who’d rather shit themselves on horse medicine than take the vaccine dying wouldn’t also have an impact. our media betters keep trying to bring down biden on afghanistan where people actually agree with him if they’re even paying attention to foreign policy at all and just leaving this giant day to day issue out of the calculus
Yeah like even in DC, literally nobody minus the press corps is talking about Afghanistan, people are much more focused on COVID-19 because even if it reflects badly on us as people or whatever, Americans care a lot more about having to wear a mask to Whole Foods than they do about the goings-on half a world away. The vast majority of Americans support Biden withdrawing the troops because Americans value the lives of American troops, and the only thing that will happen if we stay in Afghanistan at this point is more troops will die.
You're right though, vaccinated Americans (aka 90% of Biden voters cough cough) who have been masking-up and socially distancing for a year and a half are pissed that so much of this country refuses to get vaccinated. As I've said, masks suck, like they're sweaty and gross, especially when it's 90+ and humid outside!
And maybe it makes me a horrible person but I don't feel bad for unvaccinated people who are suffering and dying of COVID-19 like you can get the vaccine at literally any CVS and WalMart in this country at this point and if someone hasn't gotten vaccinated, that's on them. The individualist approach to health is a problem as is online misinformation but also, it's not me and you who are ingesting horse dewormer because *spins wheel* former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton eats babies, it's right-wingers (or horseshoe adherents) that are already susceptible to believing the most batshit insane things and I'm sorry, but maybe Darwin made some points!

FANDOM: Katekyo Hitman Reborn!
EVENT: Flufftober 2020
PROMPT: Cuddling
AUTHOR: @hopeswriting
RATING: G
PAIRING: Adult!Lal & Adult!Fon
SUMMARY:
Lal comes home after yet another unsuccessful meeting with an agent. [Modern!AU]
Tag warning: Self depreciating language, Non serious wish of self harm (Lal is just being dramatic)
WORDS: 582 (BONUS: 1413)
*
Lal doesn’t slam the door closed behind her. She doesn’t throw her bag nor her coat down the leaving room, and doesn’t kick away her shoes after removing them like they’re soccer balls.
She closes the door and collapses on the previously-blanketed-and-pillowed-by-Fon floor, half in the entryway, half in the living room, still fully clothed.
Fon sends a “Quicksand Lal” text to the others to let them know they can’t come in right now.
At least her eyes weren’t red-rimmed, and she didn’t look about to burst into tears.
“I’m the one mistake god kept in this world to remind themself to never commit such an atrocity again.”
Fon winces. Well then, now he would just have to find the name of this last agent, editor, whoever, so they can have a little chat.
Did they have to make her leave their meeting in such a state every time?
He thinks the fuck not.
“You’re my very favorite person on earth, and I simply would have had to fist fight god to make you if he didn’t already do it.” Fon lies down too in the other direction, his head at the same level as Lal’s. “I would have won too, by the way.”
Lal huffs a laugh, sad and weak. She hides her face with her hood, closer to tears than Fon first thought.
“Why do I even keep trying?”
“Because it’s who you are. You never let the world put you down for long, and you’re not about to start now. I won’t let you.”
“Why fucking bother?” She kicks the bag at her feet, sends it flying against the wall. “How hard can it be to write a decent book? I’m just incompetent.”
Fon gently removes the hood and the hair out of her face. He brings her close, and lies on his back so she can rest her head on his chest.
“It’s very hard. But you’ll work on it again and make it better.”
“If you truly have any ounce of love for me at all, you’d snap my neck right now and spare me the humiliation of my existence.”
“You’ll work on it again as many times as you need, until every one else recognize its worth.”
“If you truly care for me, you’d burn to the ground any traces of my writing you could find.”
“And then we could make the round of all these agents who refused you, and throw a copy of your published book in their face.” Fon weaves his fingers through her hair, scratches her scalp. He peers down at her. “Wouldn’t that be nice?”
Lal glances at him briefly, and grows more of a dead weight on him. “You don’t even like my book.”
“I don’t like any books. I’m illiterate, remember? Words pretty to look at, hard to read.”
Lal snickers, something brief but genuine, and flicks him blindly somewhere along his jawline. She crawls on her knees to drape herself over him like some heavy, comfort-seeking blanket.
Fon wraps his arms around her and holds her tight, stroking her back in a soothing manner.
“Hey?” he says softly. She hums. “There’s people out there waiting to have their whole life changed by your book, so I better see you working on it.”
Lal nuzzles his neck. “Deal.”
“I brought ice-cream too. Chocolate and hazelnuts flavored.”
Lal sighs dreamily. “You’re the only man I’ll ever lie my life down for. Marry me.”
Fon chuckles. “Well, don’t go tell Colonnello that.”
*
BONUS:
Okay buckle up because I have thoughts for this verse.
This is a Civilians!Arco, Roommates!Arco, Polyamory!Arco, Slice of Life, Adulting Wrong, Modern AU.
But let's just go with the Arcobaleno Adulting Wrong AU lol.
(And I say civilians as in, their flames are dormant, but they could become active at literally any given moment, because I think it has the potential to be funny but I just didn’t figure out how yet.)
------
Lal and Fon meets in high school. Fon is the new foreign student in her class, and she’s asked to be the person he can turn to if he needs help.
They become best friends, stick together from then on, through high school and college, and decide they’ll live together.
They find themselves a nice two rooms apartment, but it turns out quickly it’s too nice for them.
So they send the word they're looking for a roommate.
------
Reborn and Colonnello are childhoods best friends. They stick together until high school, then go their separate way after that.
(They do stay in contact though, even if it’s nothing significant at all.)
Reborn majors in Math and minors in Social Studies, and comes out of college as its best student ever without breaking a sweat.
He opens a coffee shop, and finds a studio within his budget, and everything is fine.
Except nothing is fine because Reborn can live in nothing else but at least above average comfort, and his studio definitely does not qualify.
Until his business gets popular and he gets rich, he figures he can bear living with someone else in the meantime.
He finds Lal’s and Fon’s add, but the part he’s supposed to pay still doesn’t quite fit in his budget.
He calls Colonnello.
------
Colonnello is a rich boy. He doesn’t live with his parents anymore, but still absolutely depends on them financially.
They’re the one paying his nice apartment while he’s going through college. He majors in International Business while being the college star basketball athlete.
Here’s the thing though, Colonnello couldn’t care less about it all. He’s doing it because that’s what he’s expected to do.
(Well, he does like baseball, and sports in general, but he doesn’t want to make that for a living.)
But here’s the other thing, Colonnello doesn’t know what the hell he wants to do with his life.
He’d love to step out of the path decided for him to his own path—that’s the only thing he wants actually—, but he literally never knew anything else?
He only ever had to conform to others’ expectations of him, so he kind of comes empty when he tries to think of the alternative.
Somehow he comes to the conclusion serving in the army is what will give him answers.
But then Reborn calls, and he figures becoming independent of his parent’s money is maybe a more reasonable first step to take.
He becomes Reborn’s business partner, and moves in with him with Lal and Fon.
------
Skull hates school. He’s good at school, but he can’t believe he has to legally waste so much time of his life in there.
His parents are adamant he makes it all the way through college, so he makes a deal they won’t be allowed to tell him ever again how to live his life once he does.
He majors in Communication, Social Media and Web Marketing, minors in Sustainable Fashion Design, and then spends every walking living second of his life working to become a pro dancer and nothing else.
Except he still needs a roof above his head, but doesn’t want it to be a too big responsibility on his shoulders, so he looks for roommates.
He finds Lal’s and Fon’s add, but they already have Reborn and Colonnello, but even with the four of them the rent proves to be too pricey still, so they let Skull sleeps in the living room while they look for a new apartment.
They find a nice, four bedrooms apartment, of someone looking for roommates, and thankfully they don’t mind there are five of them.
Skull becomes Reborn’s and Colonnello’s business partner, takes care specifically and only of marketing them on social media, and points out that maybe they’d want to hire some employees for the shop.
------
Verde is the one living in the four room apartment, looking for roommates.
Verde is still a genius in this, and his parents were genius of their own, and they’re dead now but they left him loaded with money.
That’s how he pays the apartment, and everything else in his life, because he lives as a literal hermit and certainly does not have a job.
He never had a job in his whole life actually, and he’s fine with it.
Here’s the thing though, he’s terrible with money. And yeah his parents were geniuses, but the average kind of geniuses, and he’s starting to run kind of low in terms of money.
So he looks for roommates to buy himself as much time as he can.
And he sucks it up when he sees what kind of roommates exactly he summoned in his life lol.
------
Viper is… fucking tired of living in a Society, actually. Did they fucking ask? They fucking didn’t.
They make it until high school and straight up refuse to go to college, no matter what their parents say.
But, yes, they suppose they have to do something with their life. Yes, they’re working on it, they are, they swear.
It’s their 24th birthday, and their parents tell him if by next year they didn’t get their shit together, they’ll have no choice but to kick him out.
Viper immediately tweets this injustice, because, you see, they’re an influencer.
“Influencer.”
It started with them live blogging their whole life with a heavy dose of complaints and dark humor and cynicism, and somehow they made it popular.
And then companies started reaching out to them and, well, they weren’t about to say no to some money.
I wouldn’t say they’re liked though.
Popular? Yes. Liked? Let’s not go that far lmao. Make people talk about them and distract them from their own life? Absolutely.
Viper would die within the first 30 minutes of living in the streets, so they look for a part-time job to try to soothe their parents.
They become cashier at the coffee shop.
Except it doesn’t soothe their parents at all, so when they meet the deadline, they just move in with the others Arcobaleno.
------
Luce is… I’m still hesitating for Luce.
She can be their neighbor, and the only one among them who actually has her life together and under control and going exactly as she wants it to go.
And they kind of secretly hates her because of it, but the spite helps them try harder to get their shit together.
On the other hand she’s genuinely very supportive of them, which not many people in their life are—if any—, because she believes in the beauty and strength and bravery of pursuing your dreams no matter what, and they love her so much for it.
Also she indulges and encourages every last one of their bad decisions, which undoubtedly makes everything worse, but everyone is happy not to point it out.
OR she can be just like them, doing what is essentially procrastinating into adulthood.
I think both have the potential to be funny, but let’s go with the second one for consistency’s sake.
------
Luce has a whole thriving enterprise to inherit from her parents, but no, thank you very much, she wants to make her own mark in the world.
She majors in European & International Business, minors in Entrepreneurship & Innovation, and sets out to make her own mark in the world.
She works in her parent’s enterprise in the meantime, but only because she’ll need money to make her own mark in the world, and also, you know, to live until she makes her own mark in the world.
Which is absolutely a work in progress, she’s working on that right now. Making her own mark in the world.
Luce doesn’t have any fucking clue what she wants her own mark in the world to be. Or more like, she wants to do so many things!
When she talks to Colonnello about saving money so she can try to do as many things as she needs to, he tells her about how they totally could use another roommate to pay their bills.
She becomes a server at the coffee shop.
*
Okay so I do have more thoughts for this verse, but it’s going to be too long if I write them all at once lol. Here’s part 2!
Thank you for reading! Any and all review are appreciated ^^.

Continuing on that observation because I forgot to add this part, as a gen z I'm glad you understand that we or young people don't invent new ways to be evil, but it's not completely true. You aren't seeing new forms of online abuse in every platform, I doubt second hand information is going into details as well. Also the fact that you are a white man, there are things being said and done to poc in various online communities that I don't expect you to be privy to. Harassing fans of color and poc media has become a lot more common and normalized which parts of the fandom at large will never see. I don't know if anon did all of the thinking before saying "gen z bad" but they're not completely wrong looking at the kind of mass bullying behavior literal kids are exhibiting. They are learning from or being encouraged by older people but that shouldn't take the focus away from them to blame only the older people.
And my ask regarding Barbara, you assumed I hadn't thought about if my disdain for the character could have come from ableism. I had tho, granted you couldn't have known that and it was surely a possibility, so I'm not saying I'm mad about it, I was at that time a little bit. But you could perhaps give your anons a little more credit sometimes. Sometimes people know what they're talking about, you don't need to explain other possibilities to them each time.
Once again, sorry if this came off as very rude I just needed to share that observation and among many other instances these two were really highlights and kept bothering me. My issue with Barbara goes in a different direction than anything to do with her appearance and I've personally faced online abuse from people younger than me in ways that technologically, even politically, wasn't possible or as easy a few years ago, so you can maybe see why...
Please keep in mind that whatever context you have for yourself or your ask when you come into my inbox on anon......I have none of that. You have an awareness of yourself relative to whatever you asked me. I literally only know an anon by the words they put into my inbox and nothing else.
Also please keep in mind that every anon I answer, I do so in the larger context of my own interactions with tumblr overall. I have a lot of precedent with things I say being taken out of context, misrepresented or even just me not conveying myself as well as I like.
So the combination of those two things is that a) I literally just don't KNOW what any anon does or doesn't know and b) If I'm going to answer an anon, I tend to want to answer as fully and clearly as possible.
I can understand it coming across as being talked down to, so I'll work on that, but I would ask people to remember the above and keep that in context too when weighing my responses.....am I actually being condescending in every case, or does it simply feel that way because I'm including stuff you already know in my response? And if its the latter, is THAT something I COULD know about you without knowing who you are or you as a person and not just a paragraph sent in anonymously?
I'd rather be safe than sorry, and so from my POV since there's no harm in somebody seeing someone cover information they already know as PART of their overall answer or response, like, there's no reason for me not to include whatever I think is relevant and just expect readers to decide for themselves what about my response, if anything, is helpful, and like....just ignore the rest, y'know?
Also, just for the record, I am ADHD and I save my medication for when I'm working or writing or have stuff I absolutely need to get done, which doesn't include my usual blogging. So I'm usually posting while not on my ADHD meds at all, hence the rambling tendencies and the length. Another aspect of ADHD that doesn't get talked about much ime is we tend to over-explain, part out of just excitement/interest in whatever it is that has our attention, and also in part because we're used to people not necessarily following the leaps our minds take when jumping around rather than proceeding in an orderly thought pattern.....so, part of why I break things down so incrementally is I literally just don't know where my way of looking at things diverges from the way neurotypical thinking views things, so I want to draw as detailed a map as possible in order to ensure the most people possible can follow my thought process, just in case.
(And again see, this is something you might already know, and hell, you could have ADHD yourself, I just literally have no way of knowing that so rather than just mention it and be like "oh and also I have ADHD and so that's something to keep in mind" I'd rather explain WHY I feel that's particularly relevant to your question, since I'm kinda like, why not answer as fully as I have the spoons for? People can stop reading at any time if I go on too long. Its fine).
As for the specific asks you're referencing - my response to the gen z anon was not meant to convey that the sort of things you're describing don't occur among gen z, so sorry for giving that impression. Its actually the opposite of my point, which was simply that I don't think its a generational thing, or that anything is gained by treating it as a generational thing. This kind of behavior exists in gen z, yes, but it also existed before gen z. Its not gen z SPECIFIC, or limited to just that generation. That's all.
And the other ask, the one you made about Barbara - to be honest, I don't have anyway of knowing for sure which one you meant, and there are a couple it could have been, but if its the one I THINK you're referencing, I believe you asked how to stop people from assuming you dislike Barbara for reasons rooted in ableism when its because of other things? If that's the one, then I mean, the thing is....I DID answer your question, in as much as anyone could. I addressed the perceptions other people might have of your stance there, but basically - there IS no way to ever ensure people take you at your word or any kind of guarantee you can present your POV in a way that won't be misrepresented or misunderstood. So ultimately, I just had no real useful advice for that?
And so I expanded into the only thing I think anyone CAN control, aka their own thoughts and words, and suggested that you just double check to be sure of your own possible biases that others might read into your words without you being aware you were putting them in there. That wasn't meant as an insult or to suggest you hadn't already examined yourself for possible ableism - it was simply saying it never hurts to check again, y'know? We don't always catch everything every time we do a self-review, and internal biases are inherently tricky to pick up on ourselves. And it just loops back into the fact that I really had no way to know what you had and hadn't already considered, you're essentially a blank cipher to me....and in my experience, a lot of people are a lot more ableist than they realize.
And this isn't an insult either! It applies to me and I'M physically disabled! I'm constantly to this day unpacking new realizations about how I still have more ableist views and opinions than even I realize, even after about five years of living with chronic pain, vertigo, nerve issues and associated problems stemming from only half a working mouth lol. I'm not trying to insult people by asking them to just do what I do every day and just like....make sure I'm not the problem when other people have a problem with me. Because sometimes, even after reflecting as fully and genuinely as I can, I think they're still wrong! I don't have to agree with their conclusions! But that doesn't mean that they're never right.
And for the record, I do think its still worth examining on your end, because I don't love that you said your issues with Barbara have nothing to do with her appearance, when we're talking about ableism specifically. It very well could be just a poor word choice on your part and not a reflection of your actual views, but it could also be a suggestion that you tend to think of physical disability as something that's limited to there being a visual sign of, and there's a lot of invisible symptoms and changes to the ways a disabled person interacts with society and society with them that don't alter a disabled person's appearance in anyway...and many of these things are the exact stuff a lot of unacknowledged ableism revolves around.
So I'd like to give you and other anons more credit and the benefit of the doubt and assume you know what you're talking about and don't need things broken down as much as I tend to break them down to - but keep in mind I don't OWE you that, and its a lot to ask someone to take you on faith when you've already made the conscious choice to present yourself to them anonymously, and deliberately limit how much a person even CAN know about you before answering, when you have an equal opportunity to present yourself by name, allowing someone the full context afforded by your blog, that they can use to familiarize themselves with you and what you likely do or don't know before answering. I don't think its entirely reasonable to anonymize YOURSELF and then expect people to still give you the benefit of the doubt.
Especially when not giving you the benefit of the doubt only really results in me over-explaining something you don't think you need explained in certain ways or in as much depth. Its not hurting anyone, and you're not going to be the only one reading this response and maybe that over-explanation ISN'T something other people know and it could still be of use to someone else, y'know?
But lastly, please keep in mind that you came to me, and I just answered in the way that made the most sense to me. If that didn't work for you or wasn't what you're looking for, that's fine, but like. You knew way more about me going into this interaction than I could possibly know about you, and assuming good faith of you and your interest in my response and giving you as much of a response as I did in the first place, let alone now, IS giving you the benefit of the doubt in the sense that I'm assuming you can find some way in which these responses are of use to you.
And if not, like....just don't send me more asks? LOL. I kinda feel like you just didn't expect the answer you got, and that's sitting weirdly with you. Which I get, to be honest, but I don't particularly think that's a me problem, because that has nothing to do with anything I can control.
I can only give the answer that occurs to me when I read and think about an ask. I can't guarantee it'll ever be the answer the asker actually WANTS.

I'm not going to review the season finale in quite the same way as I've usually written something afterwards. I'm ultra tired due to distinct lack of sleep. So it is more truncated than I'd intended. Also unedited so advance apologies if something makes no sense or is misspelled etc.
The episode was facing the challenge of not only being edited after COVID-19 shut down production, but what was intended to be the penultimate episode became the finale. So I'm trying to take that into consideration.
First part in Kara's loft. It was choppy. Don't get me wrong, I had nothing against the humour, or the scenes in general. Although they missed the glaring opportunity to place a "flew here on a bus," moment! It felt pretty disappointing they didn't recognise what has become an iconic line within the SG fandom, and made it even more iconic.
Before the bus though, back at the loft, considering that Lena had literally only just arrived at Kara's, with all that entails, it felt completely out of place for that context. Did it have been overwhelming heavy at that point? Absolutely not. But it was too close to slapstick at times for me and internally I was cringing. I admit, I'm not sure where they could've put it in, but perhaps if they'd just lowered it a fraction, made it a little more subtle a couple of times, it would've helped for me.
Some of the dialogue (especially early on) was also all over the place for me. It did get better as the episode wore on, but I wonder how much was the need to redo parts of the episode because of COVID-19? Unless they think to put an episode as intended in a future season DVD (perhaps S6 DVD), or someone gives us full details via an interview we will probably never know.
Which brought me to one piece of dialogue that I wish they'd not put in at all!
In 5.18, as I've spoken about a lot on Twitter especially, the way Lex screams into Lena's face, and Lena's flinch, and how that had been me 20 odd years ago. They then had the line as Lena talks to Kara; "Go ahead. Scream at me if you have to, I know I deserve it."
I know for many, they'd just see it as a line to use, but .... for many of us who have suffered abuse, who recognised (& in some instances were triggered) by last weeks episode, to not have acknowledged why that line was so problematic is worrying. It heavily suggests they're not going to address Lena's trauma and abuse because they really don't understand it (& again, if anyone believes she didn't suffer trauma and abuse, but accept others in SG do, go away with your bias from my page), but considering they haven't addressed much of Kara's trauma, particularly watching Argo destroyed again, being stuck for months during Crisis like they were, etc - then I guess it isn't a surprise.
But it is uncomfortable as hell to watch a line like that glossed over.
Overall though, I did enjoy the episode. Once that 1st half was over, especially (baring a few moments, including watching Alex do her badass Mission Impossible meet Cirque du Soleil moment because that was awesome) it felt much more like SG of previous seasons. So that was great.
Watching Lena as she watched Alex and Kara hug behind her was so emotional. Watching siblings love unconditionally. Something she thought she had with Lex, only to realise he hadn't changed at all. Lena didn't need to say anything, as once again Katie's acting brought all the emotion Lena was feeling to the fore.
Having Lena and Alex mirror they choice of words in regards Kara was pretty iconic. Then having Alex whisper, "Jinx." really made it work.
Seeing Dreamer in her element, including some great lines again. "I can't believe you left to fight Earth, Wind & Fire without us." "Guess they didn't take the bait? Maybe you should've been meaner?" As they begin the fight with J'onn, M'gann Alex and Dreamer - Alex to Dreamer: "You ready?" Dreamer. "Nope." Alex. "Me neither." Dreamer at her best imo.
Kelly going all, damn my girlfriend is hot & I want sex right now despite the circumstances was pretty cute and funny.
The Kara and Lena monologues being in unison. Now that was pretty amazing and one of the best parts of the whole episode imo.. But again, you feel as if they're matching Lena and Kara together with those scenes as a couple.
Lena not only protecting Kara, but stopped Andrea from going down a dark path as Acrata. Was also great.
Last frame of Lillian. Does it turn out she is the head of Leviathan? Because again they laid out more than once the leader was a woman. It has been noted several times now in different episodes. I was hoping Lena's biological mother, considering she knew of the legend of Acrata, but it is now looking more likely this reincarnation of Lillian is who it is, unless it is a character we've not been introduced to, but I highly doubt that.
The 2nd half of the episode was what we missed so much this season. In fact aspects throughout the episode were missing for too much this season.
This includes the women being the focal point of it. Brainy though absolutely rightly taking a strong subplot to what else was going on. J'onn ably supported by M'gann. M'gann who managed to advise Nia on embracing her dreams and not trying to avoid part of them. Dansen actually working together and both being badass in their own way (after all, this is something I've advocated for much of the season, & while fantastic to see, it never should've taken this long. Now where have we heard that before?)
But we still have glaring unanswered questions that I can't imagine would've been answered in 5.20.
Every indication since 5.17 is Kelly knows Kara is Supergirl. Yet we don't know for certain, because they've failed to show us how or when. I've said before, considering every other person who knows Kara is Supergirl, we had them tripping over themselves to explain to the audience how it happened. I'm pretty annoyed that we as the audience don't get given the same courtesy with Kelly. This is why so many of us feel short changed on some characters this season. The really aggravating thing is would only take a few lines to clear it up!
Now onto Alex. This ties in with J'onn. Where are they getting the money to survive? Did J'onn manage to accumulate enough over all the years he was on Earth to finance everything & pay Alex a wage? No clue.
Also, are Kelly & Alex living together? Or do they have keys to each others apartments? Yes, Kelly was at Alex's in 5.17 so the answer is pretty much yes, but nothing has been said! We knew more about Brainy & Nia's living arrangements from 5a than we do Kelly & Alex.
Kara's trauma. Lena's abuse & trauma. See above.
Lastly, the one most I know want (except a few vocally against), leaning towards Supercorp becoming canon. Again for another season, we end up with the, 'Maybe they'll do it next season.' being said. Particularly as in 5a they really went all out on Supercorp parallels to Clois and at times Dansen, plus even a little on Brainia. But unless something pretty fundamental changes behind the scenes, they're going to recognise what their biggest draw is, keep baiting but never fully go into it. And that is what I fear the most. When you've got media, even non-Supergirl fans saying it, but the show refusing to acknowledge it - that could be their legacy, and it will not look good or have a lot of fans look back kindly on them for it.
The 4 seasons it took for Lena to find out Kara was Supergirl was, in the end, terribly executed. This waxing and waning as well of; is Lena good or bad? Will she follow in the Luthor footsteps?
She is flawed. She's made some pretty awful mistakes. But now they're said she is good. She isn't evil or a villain. So now that line they've drawn needs to stay there! No more ambiguity on her character being a villain.
But you know what's not good? Feeling you can't trust the show to draw a line under that aspect of the character. That doesn't mean you have to have any one of them not be flawed, or to even cross some lines (they've all done it at some point, some moreso than others, but not one character is innocent).
When the show is now generating that level of mistrust on how they could handle future events, that is a problem.
Season 5 overall (particularly 5b) was absolutely horrendously bad. It had some moments of sheer brilliance (either individual scenes, or some episodes), but the rest was just flat out awful. Irrelevant. Messy. No cohesion. 5b became too much of the Lex Luthor show. Certain character additions were vastly unpopular and definitely caused down turns in viewer numbers (& again, from far more than a section of fandom). As did keeping Lena away from everyone for so long.
To sum up. Season 5 was a disaster.
Season 6 needs to have considerably different direction to even try & pull back some viewers (if they can at all). Distrust is rife.
The worst is no-one in the cast deserved this, especially as they're so talented. Some of the performances, even with how poor much of the season was, have been magnificent. But as the saying goes, you can't make a silk purse out of a sows ear.
I've never been so relieved a season is finally over. We'll watch our favourite episodes for sure, of which there aren't many, but a full rewatch of the season we normally do will not be happening. Some episodes were better off consigned to the trash.

Hi elle, regarding your response to Max anon. I think Max is just an easy person to hate. Because he's harsh, he's just bluntly honest and he has an i dont care all attitude. He has a foul mouth, and he does things without thinking. I agree with you, that he definitely deserves a lot of the heat he receives, but to the extend that people will hate him for breathing?? i don't think so. Its important we criticise him for the bad things he's done, but i see people apologising for even posting about him, get death threats for supporting him. They don't only hate Max, they hate people who support him and I feel its all gotten out of hand, no?
He's aggressive, you're right, in both driving and during the times we can see him (i wont say off track bcs idk Max so idk how he is); but Charles is also aggressive in his driving, he's gone for a gap that's not there so many times and no one says he's a shit driver like they did Max—Of course, Charles just has to mature in his driving, evidently Max is now less rash and reckless in his driving, its something you learn over time. He's aggressive when he kicks the car, the wall, when he swears on radio when he loses a pole or his car isn't working, I agree. I hate that he is too. He swears a lot especially to GP, but GP still has a good relationship with him. Daniel has destroyed his and Max's driver's room in anger and I haven't seen any criticism for it. Drivers have told their engineers to "fucking shut up" when they're racing and no one cares. Your analogy, is terrible, forgive me, because if Max actually hits someone (im aware he's pushed Esteban) no one would say that.
And thing is, Carlos has done equally (or even more) worse and he doesn't get flamed on for every word he says. (Im talking about the chinese restaurant video) why? because he's charming and he's pretty and "he's so funny when he's when lando!!" It's easy to forgive Carlos, to say, oh it's a one off, when he clearly still supports far right wing political parties.
Infact, you dislike Kimi because he is cold and straightforward or always being blunt at his engineers. Ever wonder why that is? Is it because he's unlikeable or because he fails to meet the standard of expectation of pleasantries? Plus, this is just what the media show of him, its his persona, its the "Oh, Kimi" thing people will eat up. Are u justified to dislike it, yeah, but does that mean Kimi is a shit person? no. If anything, it shows, we as humans, are biased to our own opinions. You dislike Kimi because he's not a person you would gravitate to in general (sans the iron cross thing), evident from your rant. No one has a problem with that because u disliking one person doesn't hurt anyone. ((People hating Max, and in turn, hating people who don't hate Max, hurts other people, but thats not something i blame you for))
This is very long but I just dont like the inconsistency, i think you're free to dislike whoever you want, to not support them, to criticise the dumb shit they do (which there's a lot for Max) but you have to be consistent to everyone, no ? Im not just saying this bcs I like Max, infact, he isn't even a fav of mine, and i can easily say he can be such a piece of shit and at times is a piece of shit but its only him that gets this treatment. Maybe think about why that is.
(for anyone wondering about the context for this ask, go here) hey Anon! I’m going to be really honest with you; I’m honestly not too sure what you’re trying to tell me. you said you agree with me on the fact that Max deserves a lot of the heat he receives, but I never said that. that’s an assumption, because when you read through the answer, you can see I never said that. I do agree with you that it’s gotten way out of hand and that people shouldn’t get death threats for supporting Max, that’s just ridiculous and I agree with you on the fact that that’s gotten way out of hand.
“he’s aggressive, you’re right”, I never said that. I use the word aggressive when talking about myself, but never about Max. the anon who asked me the question did mention Max being aggressive, but I didn’t. in the whole answer I never talked about the way Max drives, because I was talking about his character. telling me that Charles drives aggressive too… what is that even referring to? I never mentioned driving. (and if you want to know, drivers driving aggressively is fine by me, most of the time they only mess with their own race by doing that, so honestly… be my guest). if Daniel destroyed his and Max’ driving rooms, then of course I don’t approve of that. but the reason you’re not seeing any criticism because of that is probably because it happened years ago. the only thing I mentioned in the answer was Max saying slurs, I didn’t even mention him pushing Esteban and the reason I mentioned Max saying slurs was because it happened half a year ago. “if Max actually hits someone (im aware he's pushed Esteban) no one would say that.” say what? I don’t know what you mean by this. “Carlos has done equally (or even more) worse and he doesn’t get flamed on for every word he says”, first of all: I think everyone should decide for themselves if Carlos has done worse or not. second of all: I’m not the only person in this fandom, am I? you’re constantly switching between ‘you’ and talking about the fandom in general, why are you shifting the blame onto me? I’m not the spokesperson for this fandom. I mentioned many, many times before that I believe my opinion does not weigh more heavily than other people’s opinions do. “Infact, you dislike Kimi because he is cold and straightforward or always being blunt at his engineers. Ever wonder why that is? Is it because he's unlikeable or because he fails to meet the standard of expectation of pleasantries?” yes, that is literally why I dislike him. because he has characteristics that I do not like in a person. “Are u justified to dislike it, yeah, but does that mean Kimi is a shit person? no.” I never said that. literally, never ever said that. I never talk about Kimi, ever. the only reason why I mentioned I didn’t like him is because somebody asked why I never post about him. somebody asked, so I gave my honest opinion. I didn’t “rant”, I literally answered a question. I’m sorry, but what you are saying doesn’t make any sense. with “the inconsistency”, what do you mean? like I said before, I literally ignore drivers that I don’t like. somebody asked me a question about Max, just like somebody asked me a question about Kimi, and I answered it in an honest way. that’s all I did. “i think you're free to dislike whoever you want, to not support them, to criticise the dumb shit they do (which there's a lot for Max) but you have to be consistent to everyone, no ?” yes Anon, I’m consistently ignoring them. and saying that I’m allowed to dislike a person and then saying you don’t like me being inconsistent while I am being consistent, doesn’t make any sense. am I only allowed to be consistent if that fits your agenda?
“your analogy is terrible, forgive me”, I forgive you Anon, because you’re allowed to think that. but maybe your interpretation of it was terrible too, cause half of the things you mention I never said, but are based on assumptions you made. maybe this sounds like I’m a bit pissed off, and that’s because I am, cause you’re putting words in my mouth that I never said, you’re judging my character wrong and I’m sorry Anon, but I really don’t appreciate that, that honestly upsets me.
you know, we should probably just leave it like this. we clearly aren’t having the same conversation. I do hope you’re having a good day!

Conversation
Unlabeled Interview Final Part
Isabelle: And speaking of touring, like we're saying before, someone said in here, "I wish it didn't cost so much for you to share your music and voices." We could not agree more.
Zealyn: Oh yeah.
Isabelle: Wouldn't you say?
Zealyn: Absolutely. Yeah. Oh, there's so much we would be doing if it didn't cost so much, I mean yeah, I would have a music video for every single song well done, super well done.
Isabelle: Yeah.
Zealyn: Amazing live videos. I would have- I would be on tour all the time. I, oh my gosh, there's just so many things.
Isabelle: Yeah. We would probably- I'd probably be on tour all the time if touring didn't cost us so much money.
Zealyn: Yeah! Another thing that lots of people don't know is lots of the big artists, if you want to go on tour with them, we have to buy on to it. Umm...
Isabelle: Yeah.
Zealyn: And so recently, I just got an offer to buy on to this really awesome tour. I just couldn't do it. But yeah, just- everything is a pretty penny and so-
Isabelle: Everything's a pretty penny.
Zealyn: But you know hopefully, one day and I believe it will happen one day, our music will take off and we'll finally be able to make money like good money doing music and it'll come full circle at some point. So-
Isabelle: It will. It always does. I was listening to Tyler Perry on Supersoul Conversations this morning on my drive home.
Zealyn: Nice.
Isabelle: And like, same situation. I think nobody starts at the top and I think we forget that "Oh, we see all these people at the top." And it's just discouraging until you hear their stories and you realize, "Wow, they had no money either." He was talking about putting all this money into his first play and how he thought 1200 people are gonna show up. And it was at the 14th Street Playhouse in Atlanta, which I grew up in Atlanta so I know where that was. 30 people showed up.
Zealyn: Aww.
Isabelle: So he lost his car, he didn't have rent or anything and that was like, it sucked to hear that but wow, it's inspiring. And I hope that-
Zealyn: You see where he's come from.
Isabelle: Yeah. You see everything he's gone through and that we're doing the same thing and there's nothing different about it.
Zealyn: Yeah.
Isabelle: Other than not stopping, everytime we get a "no". And that's why this podcast for me is important because I don't know how many of you are watching and I know there's dancers on here and there's singers and aspiring everything but I just hope that you realize that like there's really nothing you umm... that's gonna come easily.
Zealyn: Right.
Isabelle: All the hard things are so much better when you get them.
Zealyn: Yeah. Absolutely.
Isabelle: What is your- what's an insecurity of yours that you are fighting umm... like in your day-to-day or music or just personally? That's like a big question but-
Zealyn: Well, yeah, I mean- I don't- I think that one thing that I do that I- everyone does but I do especially is umm... living in LA for 5 years now, been able to meet a lot of incredible awesome musicians and songwriters and just so many awesome people and a lot of them are doing really good. And like actually though, it's not just "social media" really good but like they're genuinely doing so well and blowing up and always busy and I think an insecurity of mine is like, comparing myself to other people. Is that right?
Isabelle: Yeah.
Zealyn: So um... I always- I'll at least have one bad night a week where I'm just get sunk into that "Aww man! That person's doing so much better than me." and that- and it's a good thing! I'm so happy for my friends like, "Wow, she got that?" "She got that?"
Isabelle: You're not alone.
Zealyn: Yeah!
Isabelle: Everybody feels that way in life.
Zealyn: And that's why- but I think that's something that I struggle with, it's just not- I just need to stop comparing myself. Everyone's started from somewhere, everyone's path is different like it's okay if it's taking longer or, whatever.
Isabelle: Yeah, yeah. I know, but that's umm... it's really great that you said when you're really honest. Because when I look at you, I don't see that you are insecure about that at all because you're so like, in your own lane to me. But it goes to show that we are all the same in that way.
Zealyn: Yeah. Totally.
Isabelle: Those insecurities never go away no matter- even if you were probably a little more successful, you'd probably see the best above you.
Zealyn: People were doing even better right *laughs* for sure.
Isabelle: Umm... Tammy asked about social media handles, so we're just gonna plug this in real quick.
Zealyn: Oh!
Isabelle: So she's @zealyn on Instagram, and @zealynmusic on Facebook.
Zealyn: It's Z-E-A-L- Oh there it is, you can see it. Aww, wow!
Isabelle: Z-E-A-L-Y-N.
Zealyn: You're so well prepared!
Isabelle: I know, it's just me, it's all me, I don't want anyone helping me out. Umm... and then, do her a favor and go if you guys have Apple Music, Spotify, go follow her. It's the same spelling and just like actually click the follow button and like put all her songs on your playlists and actually listen to them. Don't put them on a playlist because I said so, but actually listen because all those little things help us kind of get our music heard and everything like that.
Zealyn: Totally. Yeah.
Isabelle: Umm... I had a question for you- Oh, somebody asked... I'm trying to get through comments- Hailey asked, "What's LA like?" *laughs* That's such a loaded question.
Zealyn: It is. Well, I don't know, yeah. So, I love LA, first of all, I'll start there.
Isabelle: Yeah.
Zealyn: There's nowhere else I'd rather live. I genuinely love this city, it is motivating, pushes you to do better, everyone is going hard like everyone's pushing themselves to be better than they were the day before. So that's the good thing about it. The bad thing about it is that everyone's pushing them-! *Both laugh* Everyone's doing so well, everyone is hustling and I think that's when you also get stuck in a trap of, "Wow, they're going out every week to shows and networking and I only go out once a week. Oh boy, maybe I should be networking more or-" you know, there's just- every stupid little detail, it gets in your head and umm... yeah.
Isabelle: Just don't- I don't wanna discourage everyone for coming out here but if you're gonna come out here, just know that you will be very lucky if you have instant success. I hope that you do, I really do hope that everyone can do that.
Zealyn: Yeah.
Isabelle: But if you don't have instant success, you definitely have to look deeper into the other wonderful positive things happening that may not be exactly what you asked for or wanted but those are the things that you hold onto in order to stay out here because a lot of people don't last in LA because they think, "I'll give it a year and things would go well!" It sometimes happens but a lot of times it doesn't.
Zealyn: Yeah.
Isabelle: And then it's discouraging and you're like, "Well, I'm just gonna go home." but you know, don't do that like wherever you go or if you go away to college or umm... you go to a new city like give it time. Even when I went to college and I went away from the first time, it was the hardest thing ever. I called my mother everyday like, "WHY'D YOU SENT ME AWAY? Why'd you sent me here?" and then, I was so fulfilled and happy. Ultimately, that's what made me such an independent person. And moving to LA too, there were days when I first moved to LA... I was alone, I had a couple friends from college that were here, I went through such bad depression. It's the type of depression where you wake up in the morning, and you don't have anything you need to do, or that needs your attention. And you slept for like 11 hours, and you still- you wake up like exhausted, and you napped throughout the day not because you're tired, it's literally just you're so depressed because you're numb, you don't know what to do.
Zealyn: Yeah.
Isabelle: And guess what? Those things past, and they move away and the positive things come back and they slip in and then you're gonna slip back out of it. Right?
Zealyn: Yeah. And LA really is one of those places that you can't come to L- you can't visit LA for two weeks and expect to see LA and get a sense of the city in two weeks. It's impossible. It takes- LA is massive okay? I think people always think of LA like Downtown LA, like just the little downtown area, n-no. LA is huge, you can drive a whole hour and a half and still be in LA. So, it really truly takes like.... to me, it took a year. For me, it took a whole year to understand like, where everything is, where do I actually want to live, and it takes so long. Umm...
Isabelle: Yeah. It takes so long. I just feel settled now. I've been in here like 5-
Zealyn: I think I truly felt settled like- like I wanna live here forever after 3 years like it literally took 3 years. And I think at that point I was like, "I'm never leaving. I wanna stay as long as I can." Yeah.
Isabelle: I love it here too. So Gina just asked, "Are you going to Nashville?" I would love for you to answer that and tell us the cities you'll be touring in.
Zealyn: Absolutely.
Isabelle: If you remember them all.
Zealyn: Yes! I'll try.
Isabelle: Okay.
Zealyn: Uhh yes. I will be in Nashville, that show actually is announced already, tickets are at zealyn.co
Isabelle: Yeah, all the seats(?) are there.
Zealyn: Yeah, umm... But I mean, I could list them off, yeah. There's actually- I don't know, yeah so it's Minneapolis, Chicago, Indianapolis, Nashville, Atlanta; Beverly, Massachusetts which is my hometown, New York, DC, Philly, Pittsburgh... so that's all everything on the East Coast. West Coast is still like completely being figured out.
Isabelle: Okay yeah. Yeah, it takes time.
Zealyn: It looks like Seattle, Portland, Redding, San Francisco, LA, San Diego.
Isabelle: Uhh, can I open for you now? *both started laughing*
Zealyn: The West Coast one? Oh my goodness.
Isabelle: That's amazing!
Zealyn: Yeah that one's still like- we don't have the venues locked in or anyth- or the dates or anything.
Isabelle: Okay.
Zealyn: But it's August-ish.
Isabelle: August-ish, okay.
Zealyn: Yeah.
Isabelle: Well, if you wanna hear all the dates, go to zealyn.co, that's just "co" not ".com", just "co". And all the dates are up there, all the info about her. She's- like I said, an incredible artist.
Zealyn: Thank you.
Isabelle: Go listen to her music and just support her and I'm really glad that you asked all these questions, I'll be answering all these questions when we're done.
Zealyn: Yeah. Such awesome fans! There's so many questions coming in.
Isabelle: Yeah, they're pretty incredible, I'm lucky I am so lucky that you all show up every week or every other week.
Zealyn: Yeah, that's amazing.
Isabelle: But, Unlabeled the podcast, episode 5, will be uhh... 2 weeks, April 7th, check it out. This podcast you're listening to right now will be up on Tuesday and yeah. Zealyn, thank you for coming, go follow her at Zealyn on Instagram and uhh-
Zealyn: Thanks for having me. You're the best.
Isabelle: You're welcome. I'm honored. I love you, thanks for being here.
Zealyn: Me too. Thanks.
Isabelle: Adios, everybody! *both waved at the camera*
Zealyn: Oh, did it end already? Bye!

Hi! I love Dan and Phil, individually and together, but I think they're not trying to hide a romantic relationship. Don't you think that after ten years, they'd finally come out if they were? I mean there are a lot of gay couples on youtube and it would not be that big of a deal today than it was in 2007. Just wanted to hear your opinion on that. Have a nice day!
before i answer, disclaimer: i have ADD and this post might get messy since i find it difficult to concentrate and phrase myself properly (and english isn’t even my main language!)
well, i’m not gonna try and force my own views down your throat or anything but let me ramble a bit about why i wholeheartedly believe dan and phil are in a relationship;
i think i’ll start with the very fact that they recently moved to their third shared home together. say whatever you want to say but if they were indeed just friends, considering they’re in their mid 20s and 30 dont you think they’d want to move out separately and get going with their lives? and dont you think they wouldn’t be so keen on making comments about keeping living together in the long run (or forever….  a forever home say whaaaat).
now, you might argue with the good ol’ “but they benefit from living together regardless of relationship status”. fair enough. however, let me point out that it has became as clear as day especially in 2017 that they share a bedroom. i don’t know about you but i don’t think two strictly platonic friends who just moved into a duplex would want/ need to share a bedroom unless they’re uhhh mayhaps in a relationship and love to cuddle? i know a wild concept…….
and i’m sorry but if you want to argue against the shared bedroom fact with the shoebox phil claims is “his room” i have nothing to say but shake my head. no way phil actually lives in that room that has no windows and no space to move around and why is the entire room crammed in this one corner… where is the rest of the room……. and why is that room has no personal touch to it…. it’s literally just AmazingPhil props and things……… feels much more like a set to me than an actual bedroom. (also we saw phil’s mirror and hair straighter in the moon room aka “”dan’s bedroom”” which i think we can all collectively agree is simply “the bedroom”)
another thing that strikes me is how dan joins phil’s family vacations (especially in 2017) and how he seems to become part of the family much more than anyone who’s classified as “platonic” to phil would have. dan is just as much of a lester as cornelia is? dan joins the lesters just as much and as frequent as a spouse would. in fact, dan joins the lesters so much on their adventures that if im not wrong, the longest dan and phil spent apart in 2017 was not more than a weekend? that’s whack!
now these were just three things that were very prominent in 2017 regarding the belief whether dan and phil are in a relationship or not that were “behind the scenes”as in going on in their personal lives, kind of? i mean sure we see the  shoebox on AmazingPhil and the moon room in some liveshows and we get pictures from their shared vacations but now i will move on to what we see on screen across their channels
i’ll start this with a throwback to the boncas bc i think that damn speech is enough to debunk any “uwu platonic” argument, ever. i don’t think phil would have done THAT if dan didn’t mean a whole lot to him and i think saying the universe would rip in half in they go apart is a concrete proof that they themselves can;t and don’t want to imagine a life in which they are not joint at the hip.
moving on to gamingmas, which i will forever find so significant?? they broke a lot of boundaries during that month regarding of invading personal space, a bit of a more mature humor (esp on phil’s account), casual touching and a whole lot of flirting and a lot less (almost none at all) looks straight into the camera to show they are aware this is filmed or to do a “wtf is this lol” kinda thing. gamingmas was a turning point. i will forever firmly believe they did all of that in an attempt to normalize this kind of behavior on screen (and it definitely worked!)
dan and phil continued the vibes of gamingmas well into 2017 and the casual touches, lingering gazes and flirting (as well as expressing affection towards males in specific) is now the normal running theme over at dapg to a degree where we don;t even lose our shit anymore. we joke and meme but nothing strikes us as overwhelming bc we are “used” to it, which i think dan and phil aimed for i genuinely think they wanted to get to this stage of showing more comfort and more intimacy on screen without everyone and their mothers going whack over “pHaN iS rEaL!!!!!1″ and for it all to come across as oh so casual and chill!
so now you ask, “they go through all that why not just come out lol”
WELL, in my honest opinion, dan and phil will never officially come out as a couple. and you know what, maybe things would have been different if The Video didn’t leak and get spread around (twice, mind you.) but things happen and one thing lead to another and after all they have been through and how they were shaped as people and their experiences with guarding and protecting themselves and their privacy any sort of statement about whether or not they are a couple or just friends or even paid actors  (let alone labeling themselves and their sexuality bluntly) is highly unrealistic. so if you are waiting for a coming out video or whatever to convince you that won’t ever happen i’m afraid.
dan and phil value their privacy and they have every right to do so.
so yes, maybe in the early days of 2009/10 they were very flirty all across social media and on camera and maybe just maybe you need to consider the few following things regarding why they stopped with that:
The Video leak. like honestly? can’t and won’t find any more justified reason to feel the need for privacy and shielding yourself and making comments on how ‘het’ you are  for instance just to brush off the most intimate thing imaginable that since has been glorified and memorized by millions(?) of people who were never meant to even know this video and that declaration of affection even exists. is it scary. and i fully understand the “no homo howell” phase and how awkward they appeared together on camera for awhile, very very proud of how far they;ve came esp in 2017 though.
the radio show! is it a little tied to The Video leak since the second leak happened when the radio show was still fairly new but before they moved to london (into their second shared home coughs) they weren’t all that big, you know? but with the popularity of the radio show came the increasing popularity of their youtube channels and their followers/ subscribers count went up and up and their content became exposed to a much larger range of audience and these new audience/ fans were not familiar with the past (at least not at first glance) and dan and phil needed to leave “good” impression (not that being flirty and dumb wasn’t good impression but it wasn’t all that professional and now they’ve grown big enough to be in need of professionalism.)
these two things were a turning point to how dan and phil view themselves on camera and their content itself (phil sticking to the AmazingPhil PG persona) (dan with his struggles with creativity and integrity zzzz) and really, considering their story  (and how well known the early days are, and how dan and phil are aware to that…) it suddenly makes perfect sense why dan and phil aren’t in any sort of rush or need to ever come out.
however though, i think that the “post baking universe” as in the halloween 2016 baking video, the boncas speech, the european leg of tatinof, pinof 8, and gamingmas were a prep to this switch in dynamics we have seen in 2017 and that keeps very steady so far. feels as if late 2016 was so “wild” bc they were testing the waters and our reactions to see if they wanna pull through with this change.
so, even if they will never officially come out, their dynamic both on and  off screen screams that they are literal boyfriends and they don’t need to spell it out for us to know and see. anyone who cares enough about their relationship status and look at their content with it in mind can very obviously and easily see how in love these two dorks are. same love from the early days of 2009/10 only now it has shifted into a steady, secure, safe, most wonderful thing and you can see that their love towards each other in filling their hearts with pure joy.
so yeah, dan and phil are definitely in a relationship and that doesn’t seem to change anytime soon, if ever at all.
(THAT WAS SO MESSY IM SORRY BUT I HOPE MY POINT CAME ACROSS?)
