i'm gonna make a list of all the characters i want because i can:
5-stars:
pyro - yoimiya
geo - zhongli, albedo
anemo - venti, kazuha
cryo - ayaka, shenhe
hydro - kokomi
4-stars:
pyro - yanfei
geo - yun jin, ningguang
I also wouldn't mind getting these characters:
diluc, tighnari, heizou, qiqi (yeah i know i know lol but i honestly wouldn't mind using her), ganyu, nilou, childe, mona, fischl, beidou
I honestly don't like and/or care about these characters, but begrudgingly admit that they would be a benefit to my account:
nahida, scaramouche, raiden shogun
#⇢₊˚⊹ 🩷∥ruby∥yo,ide yo !!#this is sorted purely by personal preference btw#also for context#I haven't finished the inazuma archon quest yet#maybe my opinion on nahida will change#I don't not like her or anything. I just don't care either#I definitely don't like raiden. and at the point where I am in the story#it feels like I'm not gonna like her even after whatever they're gonna do to make her previous actions okay#also scaramouche#I don't like asshole characters. no matter how tragic their backstory is#and that scene in the delusion factory just made me dislike him even more#I'm also the type of player who couldn't give two shits about the meta#case in point: I main chongyun#but if I just so happen to get either of the three#at least I might have a chance at clearing spiral abyss for the primos#and get more funds for characters I actually like#honestly though#even though nahida is objectively better at applying dendro#even if I had her,I'd still use collei everywhere besides the abyss#I'm glad the game gave me cyno at the last minute tbh#now that I'm more familiar with the other characters#he's the electro character I like the most#also rip to me who wants both ayaka and shenhe#now that i have sucrose idek if i should continue pulling on the banner#i'm gonna try for shenhe to buff my chongyun (and to reunite the family too ig lol)#even though i like ayaka more and she's a carry,i feel like she's way more likely to get a rerun than shenhe#i also have no intention of ever benching chongyun so yeah lmao#chongyun and me? we ride or die#i think i'm gonna stop pulling after this banner ends either way though#if i don't get venti in his next rerun i'm gonna scream

Scaramouche deserved better
This is kind of a hot take on chapter III of the archon quest.
I love theorizing and picking things apart, so please don't come for me bhfwlahwlxnfl.
It might be useful to have some knowledge about what has happened so far. (This post is very long, also SPOILERS)
Remember, this is an opinion, not a fact or an offence against anybody. This has nothing to do with the cn drama. This is just me nitpicking at the story lol
The erasure of Scaramouche’s past was unnecessary.
In hindsight, it is a repetitive plot line, already established with the “death” of Greater Lord Rukkhadevata. She ceased because she eliminated the forbidden knowledge and therefore stopped the withering in Irminsul. In context, her disappearance made sense. With Scaramouche, however, it doesn’t: All the carefully thought through occurrences, all the relationships and connections between characters are annihilated in the process of changing Scaramouche’s past. Did it matter that Ei left her almost literal son alone? No, because she doesn’t remember. Did it matter that Niwa and Mikoshi Nagamasa accepted and perhaps loved the Kabukimono? No, because they are long dead and they have forgotten that he even existed. Did it matter that he found out the truth about Dottore’s murder? No, because Niwa died in the furnace instead, or so everyone believes. Why let everyone forget he killed hundreds of swordsmiths only to retell the truth? It would have made more sense if it wasn’t even erased in the first place. The only thing remaining for the Wanderer is the agony that nobody remembers except for a chosen few and himself. If anything, he only brought suffering upon himself. In the end, a very huge part of character development is lost this way.
By erasing himself, Scaramouche didn’t achieve anything.
If he hadn’t forgotten himself, there would be no rescue arc for him. He hadn’t changed his mind about the Traveler at that point in the story. In Act III, Inversion of Genesis, The Night-Bird Falls at the Curtain's Call, Scaramouche specifically states:
“...Or maybe killing me is all you can think about? But if that's the case, why haven't you done it already? [...] Sometimes it's you using them, other times it's them using you. Most human relationships are this way... certainly all the stable ones are. That's how it was between me and the Fatui, and also between each of the Harbingers. So as long as you have some value to offer, nobody will ever abandon you. But after recent events, even I have to admit that I'm not worth quite what I used to be…”
What I take from this are three things: Scaramouche acknowledges the Traveler as a threat. He uses Nahida’s deal as a backup for his own safety because providing utility to others is what he defines as a stable relationship. He also accepts his position as inferior - for the time being. This is the start of the turning point.
The Wanderer later says in Act III, Inversion of Genesis, As Though Morning Dew:
“Even if I'm completely worthless, there's nothing in the world worth regretting. [...] Utility to others is what gives me worth. So if embracing my sins is what it takes to make me useful again, so be it. [...] Sorry if I have a slightly different perspective on things. [...] Well, whatever your reasons, you did me a favor, and I'll do everything I can to pay it back. [...] Borrowing and returning are the only real relationships between individuals. I'll balance the books one day, don't you worry.”
He didn’t change his view of relationships, as much is clear. This logically drives him to “repay the favor” the Traveler did for him. Fueled by his unchanging way of understanding a true and kind-hearted relationship, it sounds like the Wanderer just atones for his sins because someone (in this case Nahida; she concludes: “In all honesty, your past experiences have made you a useful asset to Sumeru and to me. Winning you over was indeed a part of my plan.”) wants him to. This again makes him a puppet to his circumstance, instead of empowering him to make the right choice on his own. His whole life, it was the circumstance that created the scornful being he became in the end (this is a reference to the three betrayals and his relationship with the Fatui). His will to be “of use” actually hindered him in finding a path that is not influenced by others. Him realizing this would be a satisfying and meaningful way to change the tides of the storyline and would carry an important message.
The existence of the Wanderer doesn’t make sense.
It is unclear how much control Scaramouche had over the creation of the Wanderer and if he was involved in the changes that were made around Teyvat. Irminsul has its limits on what it can and cannot change. Then again, I feel like the fact that he forgot himself was merely a catalyst for the current events, speeding up the pace for him to switch sides. Did the Wanderer just wake up the morning Paimon forgot about Scaramouche? How did he exit Irminsul if he forgot everything? Where do his clothes come from? Why was he in the wilderness when he woke up? We don’t know what life the Wanderer believed to have lived before regaining his memories, which is a major plot hole that could be filled in the future. But arguably the most jarring thing about the Wanderer is his personality.
What purpose does the character serve story-wise? For sure, it’s displaying a contrast between the two entities, the yin to the yang one could say. Maybe it’s meant as a “what could have been” or as an example for gratitude and affability, traits which Scaramouche never possessed. How can it be that someone so cruel and relentless carries something so pure at heart inside of him? If it hadn’t been for all the betrayals maybe this is what we would have gotten instead. It shows how the world changed Scaramouche when he felt powerless in the face of hardship. Which is why he defined his worth as the acknowledgement and utility to others - because he couldn’t find it within himself. Because he felt inferior to everything and everyone from his birth to his procession of achieving Godhood. And in the end, he lost everything but his body.
This consequently motivates the Wanderer to seek the truth about his past. Through him we get insight on both Scaramouche’s and Wanderer’s thoughts:
“I don't think I can judge everything I've heard purely in terms of right and wrong. Each choice a person makes belongs to a specific place and time, a chain of cause and effect... a cycle of karma and consequence. [...] I'm just a puppet, with no heart and no name. There is nothing in this world for me to cling to, to fill the void within me... except maybe these sins that can never be undone. [...] I've always believed that human lives follow a set of rules, with each person being a collection of past experiences. As a puppet living in the human world, my life is subject to the same rules. [...]  I've lived with a void in my chest my whole life. My creator didn't need me, and ever since I awoke, I've just drifted from one place to the next. [...] I've always felt I have an innate tendency to yearn for something more, in a way that goes deeper than for most people... But for all my soul-searching as a shugenja, I've never fully understood it. Looking at it now, it seems that I brought this curse upon myself.”
This is the first and only time the Wanderer admits this to himself; that he was searching for something that ultimately led him to his demise. After regaining his memories, he reverts to his old self, as explained above. Even if it is a very clever way to make the character consistent throughout the story, I wished we would have seen some character development, especially of Scaramouche since he’s the one filling The Wanderers consciousness.
I thought about how it would be to remember two lifetimes in one body: Even if someone told you what you did in another life, would that change who you are now? Then what if you had memories of that other life inside you, would that erase the you that is currently existing? This is why I don’t agree with Nahida’s statement:
“If you accept that he is you, just as you are you, then yes - you are evil.”
It feeds into the fact that The Wanderer’s personality later resembles the one of Scaramouche. The Wanderer accepts that he is “evil” and has to “face the music”. Again, he takes responsibility for Scaramouche’s past because his will to be of utility to others presses him to do it. Clearly, in this moment he had the chance to turn his back on his past and instead live on as the more kind and benevolent version of himself. I would have liked to spend more time with the soft Wanderer, the one that was born with a pure “heart”, the one who learned to love instead of hate. It would have left a bitter-sweet feeling because he would be content like this, never truly understanding why he inflicted these cruel things on others.
Let's look at this from yet another perspective: What if Scaramouche wanted to forget about the deaths, the betrayals at the cost of losing the memory of his friends too? Wouldn’t that have been a far greater punishment? To know that you willingly wipe out every single last teardrop and every single spark of joy? On the other hand, I understand why other people would despise this ending because Scaramouche would never really have to feel any lasting consequence for what he did. He would just be “neutralized”.
The alternation of Irminsul’s records has differing effects.
The Doctor still did the experiments, so the results must be in his possession. Despite not knowing who he experimented with, The Doctor would still have knowledge of how to create a God. This can be concluded because Paimon accidentally broke a vase when she was worried about Scaramouche. After “changing” the past, the vase is still broken. This indicates that the general memory of everyone changed, however the world remained the same. All objects are still the way they were before the change occurred. This is an interesting concept of changing the past, but it doesn’t add up with what happens in the plot. After Scaramouche’s meddling with Irminsul’s records, the Traveler meets Aqaba and Sawada, whose research was altered in favor of erasing Scaramouche. However, this shouldn’t be possible according to what we learn at the end of the story when the mysterious voice talks to the Traveler.
“History does not change easily, but human hearts can. Believe your own eyes. Only that which you see is true. What is unseen is but an illusion.”
Irminsul can change what people believe, meaning knowledge and wisdom, not real objects, occurrences and consequences  - is what I suspect. Regardless, the voice also says:
“Unfortunately, the fate of Teyvat cannot easily be changed. Perhaps a god may have a slim chance, but for anyone else... who can say. When a small animal runs into a tree trunk, though the tree may sway, it is not displaced. The same is true of fate. Like a vase that falls to the ground. Whether it is broken by a cat or by a bird, the result is still a broken vase, is it not?”
The statement is true to what happened when Scaramouche tried to rescue his friends so that they would survive Il Dottore’s attack. They died either way, despite the Kabukimono “not being there”.
The Doctor’s power remains unclear.
He himself admits while negotiating with Nahida:
“A long time ago, I made a major decision in hopes of preserving all my perspectives of how I observed the world. Observation is the first step of any experiment, but observing the current world doesn't satisfy me. It lacks an important dimension — that of time. So I saved "segments" of all my ages, and made them into independent individuals… [...] What you request of me is like plucking out the eyes I have placed in the dimension of time. [...] Besides, with my abilities, it's only a matter of time until I find better "perspectives." Perhaps it's best to say... you're just temporarily ahead.”
The Travel Log specifies:
“As Nahida closes her eyes, many voices enter her consciousness: Some are young, some are old, some are angry, and some are helpless... All of them are the voices of The Doctor's segments, each derived from him at a different age.”
From what I understand, the Doctor has created segments, that each are positioned in a specific point in time to keep an eye on certain events, and with whom he can communicate. Since the Doctor is able to see through time, it would be possible for him to relive the past without the interference of Irminsul, as it merely changes the memories of the people. For the Doctor it would be possible to recount the truth because he would see it with his own eyes. This is what makes his segments all the more dangerous to the fate of Teyvat. However, the Doctor clarifies that he can find other ways to watch time, and the annihilation of his segments just set him back temporarily. With that said, he’s one of a few people who are unaffected by alternation of Irminsul, just like the Descenders. The question is if he can control these segments to even change how some occurrences took place - which would give him the power to literally change the past. With this in mind, there is a possibility that Scaramouche could be able to save his friends. It would give him a reason to pursue the Doctor and to work together with the Traveler. It would be an interesting concept for them to acquire the Doctor’s power to go back in time and to see the real consequence. But for the Doctor to be able to “alter” fate, he must become a God himself. At least, this is what the mysterious voice tells the Traveler. Another possibility is for the Wanderer and the Traveler to encounter the God of Time or an equally powerful entity. However, this is just speculation.

Hello! It is me again, Bali! With another idea! I read in another blog something about reader been a fugitive! So what would it be your opinion iF—
Reader became a wanderer in Sumeru? Let's make it some angst an put that they are already dating the boys! (Cyno and Tighnari) Reader knows that Cyno has to probably hunt them down (the reason about them being hunt them down it could probably be because they know some dark secret about the Akademy that even Cyno nor Tighnari have any idea?) Or—
SPOILERS FOR THE STORY QUEST OF SUMERU!
————
Maybe they know a way to get out Nahida from the sanctuary? That they came in contact with them or maybe even gain a vision while something happen when they wanted to help their archon! (It could be a fight that almost made them lost their life?) And maybe Nahida even possessing their body so they can get out of Sumeru safe?
———
How do you imagine their reaction? From both guys? I feel like reader wouldn't want to tell anything to them because that would make them involved? Or maybe they would just try to run away before they can even question her about it? THE POSSIBILITY ARE A LOT!
Oh fugitive reader! Alright there's a lot of things going on here so I need to collect my thoughts properly - cuz my hc for the poly cynonari reader is that they're actually from Mondstadt, but it would be a sucky answer if I just say they ran off to Mond hmm
And and it also depends on WHEN this happened, because it would change if this was before Cyno exiled himself or during the time the desert gang is planning to free Nahida hmm
Let's go first with Before Exile Timeline/Present Timeline:
When Cyno was given the task to retrieve you, he doesn't know if the sages were truly blind to know your relationship, or this was a cruel torture they intentionally gave him. He's in the dark for the most part, no matter how much he tries to probe he was not given a solid answer as to why you're wanted, only that it was too confidential and that they need you for interrogation.
The walk to Ghandarva Ville was slow and painful, what with his heart beating strongly against his chest, his stomach twisting and turning from the dread of the predicament he was in. He was so close to overthinking, and no matter how hard he forced himself to be neutral about this as the General Mahamatra, Cyno was still gunning on the fact that there was a misunderstanding.
Tighnari only needed one look at Cyno to see that something is terribly wrong when he entered his hut without so much as a greeting. His lover looked utterly broken and on the brink of breaking down, the stress emanating from him also touching him, the fur on his tail and ears standing in attention as if his fight or flight response was triggered.
When Cyno broke the news, that he was here to arrest you, the both of them got into an argument. Tighnari was desperately fighting for your case, that the Akademiya was wrong, that you were just an adventurer without a single bad bone in your body. "Think about this more, Cyno, don't you trust our (Y/N)?" He was almost pleading, trying to break the General Mahamatra's one track mind when it comes to his work.
"Tighnari, when did you last see them?" And there was a pregnant pause in between as the situation became heavier. You had been gone for two weeks now, which wouldn't be unusual if not for the fact that you didn't inform them beforehand. But if something was wrong, why wouldn't you tell them? Or at least Tighnari, who had been transparent about his detachment from the Akademiya.
Now they're both battling with their own internal conflicts. Cyno overwhelmed by his fair judgment as his heart tries to reason with him, and Tighnari with his solid faith being countered by his rational mind. At some point, they work behind each other's backs to look for you so that things can be clearer.
You best hope your Forest Watcher boyfriend finds you first, because Cyno will be harder to persuade with his heart already filled with thoughts of your betrayal.
After Cyno's Exile and Tighnari's Findings about the God Project:
In this one, Cyno and Tighnari work together to try and find you, if you're not already trying to find a way to look for them to relay the information.
They don't know the exact details but they were aware that the Eremites were tasked to haunt you down, by the orders of the Sages or Dottore. After hearing the latter enemy after knowing what damage the Harbinger had done to Collei, the both of them are quick to 'dispose' the mercenaries every chance they get. If you don't want to be found, the least they could do is make sure no one does.
They're plagued of stress daily from overthinking about your situation. Did you get caught? What if you're not safe where you're hiding? Are you still in Sumeru? Are you with people that are helping or secretly sold you out already? These thoughts keep them up at night, and so they use those times to scour the forest and desert respectively for any signs of your presence.
If they do find you or you find them eventually, they'll openly break down into tears as they pull you into a tight hug, a series of why's and where's brokenly repeating in between sobs. Why didn't you tell them you were in danger? Where did you go? Why would you hide this from them?
They were prepared for the worst and seeing you alive (and hopefully well) made them crumble in nothing but relief. You're not the best fighter in comparison nor the best stamina despite your occupation. If they see wounds, scrapes, signs of sickness, fatigue, and even slight weight loss, they'll tend to you with shaky hands and misty eyes. (Even worse if the fight for their life had also happened)
You don't know how scared they were, but they'll make sure you're safe with them now. Even if you insist to leave after exchanging information, they would force you to be with them. Sages, Akademiya, Eremites, Harbingers be damned - the forest can burn so long as they can keep you safe from harm's way.

mind you I'm not playing genshin anymore (if childe dies I'll reconsider) and only watched some streamer play through the twins' murder case
but yeah my crackpot theory is also sort of like your "perception" argument ie the oratrice is essentially public/mob justice. because fontainiers are literally water right. and the oratrice is a scale that weighs water. you fight in court to turn the tides. there's some good irony there - the supreme law machine that the fontainiers have believed so much to the point that they feel confident in making a spectacle out of people's lives and the very concept of justice was nothing but their own biases all along, and when someone is sentenced to death it's not the all-knowing Thing but the public who's sending them to the gallows. double whammy because the pathetic archon is flailing to turn the oratrice in her favour in the court, and the oratrice is the public opinion all along, and she's also secretly just vying for people's attention and approval. see it writes itself. at least that's how I'd write it.
on that note nahida mentioned that focalors retains the right to change the final verdict and is present in all court proceedings, but it's pretty clear furina's just playing the prosecution/boo boo the fool and not the supreme judge, with neuvilette mentioning that the oratrice overrides his verdicts even when they're very much sensible (as in the case of childe). soooo focalors must partially be the oratrice (the voice lyney heard near the core?), or is the oratrice and furina's like the dumb leftovers of whatever shit focalors put themselves through. extreme crackpot: like a hivemind akasha type of thing where everyone's hooked up to focalors' mental faculties or like ei. because there's some emphasis on twins/people taking other's places in the story.
Mmmm, sometimes I love you. If Childe dies, I will also consider many things. Like another fic in his name! To solidify the tragic Greek hero. (is the power stirring within him is just abyss madness? Ajax the Great enter the scene).
because fontainiers are literally water right. and the oratrice is a scale that weighs water. you fight in court to turn the tides.
Oh, I like this! The justice is flowing on the surface of the water. Which kinda means it's very superficial.
and when someone is sentenced to death it's not the all-knowing Thing but the public who's sending them to the gallows.
I mean, the harsh and brutal realist part in me would REVEL. Imagine the implications. The human cruelty. The ignorance. The arrogance. Neuvilette isn't so wrong after all. There will be much rain in Fontaine.
The people are so enraptured with the idea of justice and the spectacle fo it all, they do not notice the very obvious fact that OPratrice isn't all-knowing or objective. After all, if it was omniscient, there would be no spectacle to begin with. And if it was objective, it would be so, so boring.
and she's also secretly just vying for people's attention and approval
First, the Oceanids reject her. Now her own people? Furina isn't having a good time.
r is the oratrice and furina's like the dumb leftovers of whatever shit focalors put themselves through.
Maybe it's not Furina. After all, she had no clue why Oratrice gave a guilty verdict and panicked. She didn't know what was happening. Maybe it's the previous Archon. After all, the Previous Hydro Archon wanted to unite all in Teyvat. And then she got corrupted. And then she died. Maybe Oratrice was her creation. A machine that contains many united minds to make verdicts. But as Alhaitham says, Human minds aren't infinitely pliable.
I mean, I would Furina to be straight-up impostor. It would be in theme with how water and hydro acts. To take shape. To take form. Hydro Eidolons and Water mimics can change shapes and take whatever form they desire. So, Furina took the form that was required of her - the Hydro Archon. She may act the part but she is not the part. Celestia is fine with it because the people of Fontaine are bound to disappear anyway.
Timewise, it makes sense for Hydro Archon to have perished right before the Khaenri'ah disaster. Since it was Rukhadevatta who saved whatever was left of Hydro Archon's consciousness. Then, Rukhadevatta dies.
Perhaps the reason Fontaine people are dead is because previous Archon committed a crime. Got corrupted. Since Celestia was too late to punish the Archon, it punished its people. Would be kinda the thing they do.
Like, I am not saying it's impossible for her to Ei herself and put a part of her mind into the Oratrice, forget about it, and develop some form of DID. But that would be so boring. We already had Akasha and Plane of Euthymia.

LEAST favorite genshin character? (if you say diluc i will sob)
ok you know who it really is, but for your sake i’ll pick someone else
zhongli.
QUICK PREFACE I’M NO EXPERT ON TRADITIONAL CHINESE CLOTHING — THIS IS MY UNCULTURED TAKE. PLEASE CORRECT ME IF I SAY ANYTHING INCORRECT OR LORE INACCURATE.
also no hate to people who do like him, this is just a personal opinion
first off, he evokes one of my character design pet-peeves, the rat tail. again. he looks as if he was intended to have short hair, then some hoyo dev looked and said “no, we need him to have long hair.” and so they took a ponytail glued to a pin and rammed it into the back of his head. it makes no sense. if he’s going to have a ponytail, make it work with the rest of his head. i don’t mind short locks in the front, but not like this.
secondly i just. kind of feel like his design in general is a bit boring? like not nahida level boring, that’s near impossible to beat, but boring considering his character.
like yes, there’s the classic genshin detailing and elaborateness, but it feels a bit detached to me? ultimately it just boils down to a suit. they try to make it look more interesting via the geo patterns, and they hint a little bit towards the inhuman (dragon?) elements of his character via the scales, but just. that’s it?? boring. there’s character designs by hoyo that do so much better at connecting the details to the character, while tying in culture and making it interesting.
plus, i get that his thing is that he’s “trying to blend with modern humans”, and that can sort of justify the suit? like maybe you can explain it away with themes of modernization and moving away from the past/into the future, but still. it’s really boring the way they did it. this is a fantasy game, and they slapped the geo archon in a boring suit. it just doesn’t feel like it meshes well with his story at all.
i’d kill for some more dragon to peek out of his design. also just, if he was really trying to blend into modern day liyue, why a suit? literally 99% of native liyue NPCs that we meet and see are wearing clothing that orients more towards traditional wear, so in my opinion, zhongli’s (seemingly western) suit actually makes him stand out.
also hoyo is capable of blending traditional outfits with suits and make it sort of work (ex ayato. the sleeves are kinda goofy though), so zhongli’s suit kind of makes me want to laugh. plus like, what does it reflect about his character? why that particular suit? like you can argue that it makes him look gentlemanly, and hints towards a non-physical trade, but what else? why a suit? ANSWER ME HOYO.
also this is why zhongli is never beating the cockroach allegations.
i’ve rambled about design stuff for awhile so i’ll just wrap it up by saying that his actions during the archon quest kind of turned me off. i’m aware that literally everyone says that “he was watching, if anything went wrong he would have stepped in” but like. it doesn’t really change the fact that he placed liyue into danger. “he was on the sidelines” doesn’t reassure me.
tldr his outfit doesn’t really make sense to me, and his archon quest actions kinda turned me off
ok i just remembered dori exists and i also somewhat dislike her but i already wrote this so…

Anyone else kinda let down by Wanderer’s redemption?
Don’t get me wrong, the cutscenes are super sick and amazing, but like the storyline?? Ehhhh?
Spoilers below
Okay SO when Greater Lord Rukkhadevata erased herself from existence, it was gut wrenching and cathartic. It was seen coming a mile away, but also you couldn’t realize what was happening until she hugged Nahida and vanished. There was emotional weight to what she did and the Traveler’s promise to keep her a secret was heavy
Then the following character quests were also hard hitting! We watched one of the few people Cyno could trust get swallowed up by sand out of grief for a dead son. We watched and participated in a high-stakes debate against an Akademiya scholar while also navigating a complicated father-daughter relationship with Nilou. We helped Nahida settle into the hands-on approach she was taking to being an Archon while also establishing that one cannot run from the consequences of their actions forever
In all of these quests, there were high stakes, mental puzzles to be cracked, big emotions that needed to be processed
and then the Wanderer’s interlude quest fell flat on its face.
Don’t get me wrong, the set up was amazing for it. I was so excited when I was chasing Scaramouche into the Sanctuary of Surasthana and listening to the writers chat about the history of Taratatsuna (I definitely misspelled that but it’s 6:12 am and I don’t care)
And Scaramouche’s interactions were witty and fun! However, I didn’t like how the Traveler and Paimon’s lines were just some variation of “you’re an asshole and we hate you” like c’mon that’s so dry
But seeing Nahida’s authoritative side is always fun so I didn’t let my hopes down
Cutscene in Irminsul was dope. Learning about what happened to Niwa was dope. Learning the gore-y part of what happened was dope.
So I guess my problem is with Scaramouche being able to “erase” himself from existence. There was no warning, no big build up, he just did it. I remember dropping my phone and yelling to my friends “oh he did NOT just do that!” And I just… why would he do that????
Maybe I’m misunderstanding Scaramouche’s character and his motivations, but nothing about him to me screamed “let’s go erase the past”. Is that just me?
And then us immediately finding him in Sumeru was dope and the Wanderer is peak Autism coding (I too space out when people steal from my workplace) but even then, the immediate switch from a deep conversation about the futility of Scaramouche’s actions to finding the Wanderer was jarring
I do like that the Traveller immediately checked up on the Kamisato siblings and Kazuha to see if anything had changed, that was sweet
But like the Fatui diplomats in Mondstat have already changed their voice lines to wondering why the 6th Harbinger position hadn’t been filled in centuries and all I could say was “Jesus Christ whyyyyy”
Erasing himself from the timeline completely negates the fact that he’s done horrible things. He knows this, the Wanderer had accepted that part of himself (which was an absolutely beautiful scene) but since nobody fucking knows who he is, the power he held, the status and the attitude, it’s all meaningless
I don’t know, maybe I’m just disappointed by the game establishing that erasing oneself from existence isn’t a decision to be made lightly and then immediately turning around and pressing RESET with Scaramouche/Wanderer for some weird redemption arc that didn’t even really redeem him
Did anyone else feel this way or were different opinions had about his quest?

leave me in the past, wanderer. (can i not love you forever?)
contains: scara x gn!reader, angst, tweaking with canon genshin for this 💀, irminsul mentions, you appear in his dream, reader and scara implied to have been in a relationship before his irminsul deletion, MAJOR CHARACTER DEATH SNEAK???, nahida appearance !!!, "scara" in purple and wanderer in blue, changed dialog format again lol
notes: i listened to voca songs while making this. 39 music specifically (as of rn lol), so yeah i was happy but writing sadly, fellow anons rate this prompt (not my best work sadly..) - i wanna hear opinions and roasts., I GOT INSULTED (not really) BY MY FRIEND WHO LIKES BL SHIPS/SHIT LIKE KAZUSCARA ND ZHONGCHI OMG.
ever since scaramouche tampered with irminsul to rid teyvat of himself, he's been in some peace. he's been cleared of some of his burdens from his previous life and identity, yet he can't shake the feeling that something is missing from him.
as the wanderer, he can rest without thinking about if theres someone plotting his death... a very common occurrence when he was still the balladeer. without you, he may have been cut short of his "godly reign":, of a many samsaras.
he doesn't want to stay in the past. why would he? he could start over as wanderer and lead a much more blissful life than his last; but that doesn't mean he's complete yet, not without you.
wanderer... why are you thinking of me? you don't need me anymore.
"w-..what? who are you?"
[name]. i am name, your ???
"[name]... where have you been?"
you are wanderer now, my old master. tell me — are you still stuck in the past?
"no.. no i'm not. if anything, i'd refuse my past."
exactly. if that had been the case, why is it that you yearn my presence?
"what? i... i don't."
you're lying, wanderer...
...
"huh. so it was you, [name].."
"ah, wanderer! hello there. what have you been doing as of late?"
"e-ehem... can i ask of a favor, dendro archon?"
-
"mm... i'm afraid that isn't possible, wanderer. i can't bring back this [name] person because you want me to."
"oh..."
...
...wanderer. stop it. stop thinking of me.
"[name]?"
you... please. i beg you, stop it. you're hurting me too.
"me? what am i doing? can i help you with your pain, [name]? look, i know that i hadn't been the best when i'd last seen you... but let me help-"
don't you get it? leave me in the past, wanderer. all of this... they are distant thoughts. i, am a distant thought. you're a new person now, you... i cannot help and you can't. i'm gone.
"[name]. please... is this the last time I'll see you?"
of course not. theres maybe a million files and photos of me, this won't be the last time you see me — but the last time you talk to the real me.
"can... can i not love you forever...?"
oh? eternity wasn't something i thought you'd look for... but no. you can't love me. it simply isn't possible. if the person you loved was dead, how could you love them forever?
"i care for you, so let me love you (as i'm laying on your chest) until you leave."
...
you left. you left your ??? alone in teyvat; all by himself (ANYMOREEEEEEEEEOOOHHHHH), unable to go back. he is not a former shell of himself, much the opposite.
he has no heart; his creator didn't give him one (hey ei kinnies, shoutout to lume). the wanderer didn't get to say goodbye to anyone he'd lost.
he shut you out before being made into a god — one unworthy of your worship and love, undeserving of your life and presence.
rawr what do we thiiiink -still with you anon
my tears are certainly tasty if that's what you want to know

i know youre on hiatus and i hope youre doing well away from tumblr, but, when you come back, let us know your thoughts on genshin’s 3.3 update please! i’m excited to hear what you think about scaramouche’s story ❤️
literally just finished the interlude quest, lets talk about it!! (going to contain spoilers for kazuha's story quest, the inazuma archon quests, the sumeru archon quests, and also the sumeru interlude quest obviously) this is going to be quite long (he is one of my favourite characters and is steadily powercreeping my lore favourite albedo to be no.1) so maybe don't click unless you like absolutely want to fhgjkl
okay to start off with i'm gonna talk about what i expected was going to happen with this interlude slash what is essentially our favourite ex fatui puppet's character quest.
due to the memes and shit about it i initially was kind of wondering if this would be some sort of community service redemption sort of quest for him, something along the veins of him doing things nahida just tells him to or stuff the traveller wants. i figured maybe we'd see a fight scene between traveller and scara, maybe he tries to backstab us or flee or even go see ei. these are all initial fleeting assumptions i developed right after finishing the sumeru archon quests. to be honest kazuha isn't a favourite of mine so the thought of the tatarasuna smithing plot even making it back into the main storyline genuinely didn't cross my mind. like i cared about it because scara was in it but i didn't expect it to be relevant again
after the trailer for the 3.3 update i had a change of opinion again, this time more rooted in worry. genshin has a problem with its antagonists (namely: the raiden shogun/ei) where we get a character presented as directly opposing the traveller, directly causing issues at the cost of characters' lives and freedoms, only to get woobified in service of making them a suitable travelling companion to our main character. i understand they have to try for some semblance of realism as to why our playables are lending aid to us, but i kind of think they lost that a long time ago without even really noticing it. why is the acting grandmaster of the knights of favonius (for example) accompanying us into the desert of sumeru when she ostensibly has a very busy 24/7 job basically running an entire city. how is childe with us when they've sent him from liyue to snezhnaya to inazuma and now to who knows where. they’ve tried very hard to make this “make sense” when it literally never has. and i was extremely wary we’d get a passive puppet mindwiped version of scara. WHICH ALSO MADE NO SENSE, because he very visibly retains at least a good portion of the personality we know and love/hate. look at this fucking face
Tumblr media
this is not the face of someone who has a redemption arc. my worry was that somehow they’d get him to apologise for his actions, and have the traveller forgive him wholeheartedly. i was worried they'd wipe his mind, somehow retain his personality, and just hand him over like here you go here's playable scaramouche. he's still a massive bitch but he's #good now. i HATE that. i’ve never wanted him redeemed. i want the weight of his sins and his guilt and his abandonment and his rage and ugliness because to me it makes him one of the most realistic characters genshin's ever managed to write. i don't really know or care how many people share this view, but i would've been happy if they handed him to us straight from laughing in our faces about teppei's death. his scheming killed signora. i wanted that straight from the tap.
so, the quest itself. it got me good i'll admit. when he basically had a crack at erasing himself from existence my jaw genuinely dropped because for me that was... both exactly what i would've done in his position with his power and also a place i'd never expected genshin to actually go. we talk about someone killing themselves in cyno's story quest (murtada radkani and then his father, taj radkani) but he actually tried it- i feel like someone might try to debate me on this but that's the only way i can see it interpreted. we know he's tried and hoped to end himself before but it was kind of??? gratifyingly shocking to see him do it again. and in service of the humans he's continually spoken about with loathing before. it just made him very... real i guess. there's no endless well of hope he just pulls from out of nowhere, it's in service to people he loved and lost centuries ago. he does it without a shred of concern as to what it would cause in the modern day to the real life descendants of the people he'd both loved and killed. IT WAS SO IN CHARACTER. i wasn't celebrating it but from a narrative perspective that was literally perfect. he's gone and im so happy gi has made a good story choice im like sick about it
then the "erased" scaramouche reappears and i let out a sigh of relief that i wasn't even aware i was holding. like i knew he wasn't DEAD because, well, i'm running around sumeru city with him literally equipped in my party and also he hasn't gotten his vision yet so he can't just die. tbh i totally forgot about the "you can't fully erase yourself from existence" thing from rukkhadevata until the traveller brought it up. immediately following my joy that my boy is not Dead dead i go.. oh shit. is this the erasure part??? is his terrible awful beautiful personality just gone and we're left with this fruit picking stall boy? was genuinely concerned about it but i reserved judgement until we entered the dream
guys....... i was so happy. we finally fleshed out lore that i'd been picking at in my brain and it was so fucking good. the pacing was good the dialogue made for a good translation we even got a return to the place where he nearly killed us. he got a fresh start but he didn't. he remembers we remember he's not trying to destroy everything around him but he's not like loving and happy and perfect. essence retained!! i don't really enjoy seeing nahida just. in general she kind of gives me the ick what with her design and all so im glad she stayed as a Voice for most of the quest. i could concentrate on what mattered. i'm nothing if not biased so while this is not my favourite story/archon/interlude quest (that title belongs to xiao's chasm interlude quest) this might be in the top five. top three mayyybe
i do have my gripes with the quest. i really wanted to see him have a genuine modern day confrontation with ei, but now with the erasure/history retcon she doesn't even remember creating him (her and yae's voicelines about him are removed, as are childe's), which is a massive shame yet also strangely fitting. like not to unpack this but sometimes the best thing you can get from a mother who thinks she's done nothing wrong is a clean break. still, i would've loved a confrontation of some sort, and i'm hoping for either that or a fight with dottore as his actual story quest. i also wish we got a unique model for the "puppet" scara that katsuragi found in the shakkei pavilion but we already have two different models for him so i think i'm just nitpicking there.
as for what i ended up (re)naming him, i chose itsuki, specifically 五希. this specific variation of the name means (five) (hope) and is mostly used as a last name, which might make me change it if i find something suitable (i was doing this pretty fast so i had to hurry up with the name, didn't get a ton of time to think it through). i named him this because i won him 50/50, on pity 50, and also this would be his fifth "official" name (the first four being kabukimono, kunikuzushi, scaramouche and then shouki no kami). five is also a pretty important number in asian culture, with it being associated with both good and bad luck (fitting for a character made in such shades of gray as scaramouche), and if i'm getting the information correctly, five is also representative of the ideal of freedom, a pretty solid match for someone newly bestowed an anemo vision. the raiden gokaden were five houses of smithing, of which scaramouche destroyed all but two. additionally, itsuki as a first name is often translated to "tree", and as someone who was "reborn" from irminsul it felt suuuper appropriate. i'm gonna touch base with my little sister (she's half japanese and super fluent) to make sure i'm not just shooting into the dark though, so i'll update if i end up changing it again
EDIT: touched base with her she said and i quote “it’s a bit weird and unique but it’s fine” so im keeping it. happy nameday my beautiful boy itsuki
tldr, i'm pretty happy with the quest, im glad my boy kept his bitch personality, and i renamed him itsuki (name change pending maybe)

Plz I would probs hate Zhongli irl with a passion but in game I cant 😭 he just makes cackle everytime he opens up his dumb old man mouth like my mans is a boomer in a game 💀He defs is a terrible 'father' figure but tbh none of the Archons werent that great if you think about it. Venti got his ass best in 2 secs and is an alcoholic, Zhongli is...himself...and the original Dendro archon is..eh?? Like Nahida and MAYBE Raiden are the ones who are actually decent
Raiden lost her sister, had to abandon Scaramouche because of his softness and still feels guilty about it, and her one friend, Yae Miko did absolute jack shit. I feel like Sara was more of a friend to Raiden then Yae Miko was. Raiden is still trying to fix her mistakes on Inuzuma too! At least she is TRYING
Now if anyone needs a break, its Nahida! She was picked as the new Archon AGAINST HER WILL and people soon forgot about her?? While all she could do is sit back and try to her best??? Like people literally only hated on her because of skin tone, which is still an issue! But guys..SHES A FUCKING CHILD???? She is literally trying her best to be the best Archon AND not getting upset that her birthday cant be celebrated because the other Archon died??? Fucking excuse me?? I think Nahida should meet Klee and they should be best friends >:(
(I dont mind sharing my opinion on here because I feel like most of the Twitter Genshin community has left my page alone lmao)
FRR HE'S HILARIOUS it's the only reason I tolerate him- again I only hate how the fandom glorifies him, I do like him as a character haha
Honestly I love Venti bc of what he stands for. He didn't just abandon Mondstadt, he taught his people how to raise a nation and then let it run itself! "Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish, and you feed him for a lifetime. " And the parallels between him and the unnamed bard sljgs delicious
FR And despite Ei being a total tyrant, she was doing what she thought was best for her country after experiencing so much loss. If nothing else, I see that in a lot of moms, so I like that ideology being used. Doing what you think is best for someone but finding out it hurts them later on, and then she's actively trying to change and improve by listening to the people :')
YES FINALLY YESSS I adore Kusanali! I do dislike her design because I'm tired of Mihoyo's colorism and creepy sexualizing (especially with the kids) but I love her character! Especially in the new archon quest, she's so sweet, considerate, and does her best to help out wherever she can. And to have the mentality of a child while doing this? She's incredible! Kusanali and Klee solo the world yes PLEASE
ooh okok that makes sense- I was more worried about spamming people haha

9&13
If this is for the question list you forgot to put down a character for #13 (Unpopular opinion about XXX character) but for 9, (Most disliked characters) without a specific series to pick from that one's really hard to answer.
I said in the last ask I got that I really dislike Raye Penber from Death Note (Naomi deserves better).
In jojos there's a lot of characters I don't like but mostly because they're intentionally written to be disliked like characters who are creepy towards children or bigoted. Yellow Temperance, Steven Steel, Midler, Yuya Fungami, Polpo, Thunder McQueen, Sports Maxx, and the Boom Boom family all kinda suck though.
Genshin (which I know i really never talk about on here but whatever) I dislike Yoimiya (her quest bit where you help make fireworks or whatever took so damn long because she just kept talking to random people I will never forgive her), Nahida (though I haven't finished the Sumeru quests yet so maybe my opinion will change), Kirara, Baizhu, and Rosaria.
In HxH I hate Hisoka and probably some other people that I don’t remember. In JJK I hate Toji. In ROTTMNT I hate Todd. In Saiki K I hate that purple guy. And uh yeah.
I hope you enjoyed my diss list. I really hope this is what you were asking for. Sorry if not and feel free to send another ask.
The thing this is for:

(I realized I forgot to post this a couple days ago, so since I'm in lore brainrot right now, I shall post it. There are no spoilers for the recent quests in this one)
Crazy genshin theory that I will go more in depth with later, but let me tell you about the most important book series in the game: Teyvat Travel Guide by Alice member of that witch order who is especially important because they focus their work on the key lines and Irminsul.
And you know what info people will know after learning about Irminsul, you can change the past? And how do preserve the past? With books.
We already how book series in the game, such as the the Boar Princess and Fischl's stories. I will say that Fischl' stories are possibly a parrelel to the traveler's/their sibling's story, not necessarily made to preserve their story Irminsul, unless the abyss sibling knew they were added/going to be added into Irminsul. The Boar Princess on the other hand, has been a topic of debate regarding lore. What it means, is an an anthology of another true story, etc?
With the interlude quest involving Scaramouche and Irminsul, we know Nahida was able to preserve knowledge of him by creating a story about him. It was pretty vague about it being about a person, using animals and such instead.
Now what about stories involving people in Irminsul? When Scaramouche erased himself out of it, it didn't change the outcome of the tartirigami incident, but it chanhed how it happen. Essentially erasing his involvement.
Teyvat Travel Guide is not vague though, but I believe, similar to how the tartirigami incident remained the same, if this era in Teyvat's history was erased, or more like the people involved in it, the guide serves as a vague basis for it. And possibly it serves as a guide for Alice herself in case she gets erased.
---
Other thoughts:
The samsara/era of Teyvat. The reason why I say samsara is because the samsara doesn't necessarily imply reincarnation, or a time loop*, but different time periods in Teyvat where things repeat themselves. For example we have repeats in certain groups. And I cannot say this enough, this is NOT reincarnation, I will scream the next time someone brings up the Alhaithan is the reincarnation of Deshret because no wrong.
Example 1: Venti, Jean, Diluc, and the Traveler fighting Dvalin is reminiscent of the group Venti's friend led against the God of Storms. In this case, Jean and Diluc are descendants of them, but they are not reincarnations. The traveler and Venti represent Venti himself and his friend.
Example 2: Nahida, Alhaitham, Cyno, and possibly Nilou. Nahida being the Dendro Archon, Alhaitham representing King Deshret, Cyno representing the priest, and Nilou possibly representing the Goddess of flowers. They are not reincarnations of the characters they represent, and in my opinion, there is not much to justify saying they descendants either. In Nilou's case, there is not to go on other than, flowers.
Example 3: The traveler and Paimon. Essentially we are repeating the journey through Teyvat the Abyss sibling went through with Dainslef. I mean look at the Aranara questlines, the traveler is doing the same thing as their sibling did for them.
I feel like you can find other examples as well, but they are much more vague or involve a lot more of explaining.
-
Could memories other characters have of the travler be erased from Irminsul? We already know the Abyss sibling has been added to Irminsul, but the question is how. Everyone could collectively forgot that someone else was involved in all their quests and stories. And the traveler would remember. And is it possible for the traveler to be added? And would their sibling forget? Maybe if the traveler gets so involved in Teyvat, like their sibling did, Teyvat would recognize them as part of it

I have finished Scara's quest and I can safely say....
My opinion has not changed. I still feel indifferent about him. His sad backstory didn't move me in the slightest and honestly I liked his new self alot more. I wish him growth in the future though and hopefully Nahida can help him out. He's cute which is why I don't straight up dislike him so he has that going for him.
The saddest genshin backstory still goes to Xiao and maybe Collei.
