"Second Killing Dooms Bears Three in Quebec Zoo Are Shot," Toronto Star. October 10, 1942. Page 1. ---- Quebec City, Oct. 10 - (BUP) - Three big polar bears in the provincial zoological gardens at nearby Charlesbourg today killed their second man in four years - a keeper, Jean Paul Bedard, 29.

The bears were shot and killed by other attendants who were called by Bedard's screams.

Although Bedard had been warned against entering the bears' cage. zoo officials said he went in to feed them.

He approached one of the recumbent bruins and attempted to stroke him. The bear lumbered to its feet and grabbed Bedard. The other two joined in the attack. The bruins, named Marius, Cesare, and Fanny, were full-grown animals and had been at the provincial zoo for a half-dozen years. They were brought here as cubs, on a government ship which travelled north each year with supplies for remote, northern outposts. Four years ago one of the bears grabbed the arm of Dr. Germain of Rimouski, Que., who was feeding it peanuts. It pulled Germain's arm. bent into the cage and mauled him so badly that the physician died.

perhaps now is a good time for some responsible bear programming to remind everyone that as cute and cuddly as they may seem, bears are lethal apex predators and should absolutely be treated accordingly if ever encountered.

the more I think about the mutiny at Terror Camp, the funnier it becomes. like... that was only their second stop. imagine you are on a road trip across the continent, you make it to your second hotel of the journey, and suddenly everyone is pulling guns on each other, one of your team leaders got stabbed in an arby's parking lot, the guy you hired to keep everyone safe is now openly mutinying with some rat guy who wasn't even supposed to be on the trip in the first place, and now you've ordered both of those guys to be hanged for their crimes. your dog is dead, the rat guy ate it. one of your other team leaders gets lost and almost immediately starts chewing on his shoes. the rat guy took your only doctor. several people got mauled by a bear.

This is because I had a sudden inspiration, but Danny phantom au where the portal was never actually made public(I'm thinking because it's actually very much illegal and stuff) and so no one was there to witness the portal accident.

Meaning, for the people that do know that Danny is Phantom, don't actually get the context for his death and they won't instantly think of an inter-dimensional tearing a hole into this boy, and from the very limited information, Danny shares about his death. They think of the most bat-shit crazy reasons for Danny's death.

I'm thinking of a post-reveal thing, where Danny just has the craziest rumors, ranging from the stupidest to the most gruesome reasons for his death. All while he just sits in the corner watching people have a heated debate on whether or not Danny died via electrocution by microwave.

i don't think we talk about that part in the bible where a bunch of kids call a dude bald and then god sends bears to maul them to death enough bc that shit was hilarious

additional thoughts on the bear

I rewatched bolognese, omelette, and the bear last night and noticed some things that were new to me. The blue lighting which shows Sydney getting undressed is the exact same blue lighting of the intimate (refusing to call that sex) scene with Carmy and Claire. I definitely find that interesting… Also watched the scene with Claire fairly close and it’s a bunch of beautifully shot eye contact, face stroking, nose rubs, and some chain dangling for the girlies, and at the very end Carmy is looking up and off (not directly at Claire) solemnly. I think he’s thinking about Sydney in that moment because the next scene is Sydney, getting dressed?!?! But focusing on the stains of her jacket. Sooo that leads me to believe that even though Carmy just had this incredibly intimate moment with Claire he was thinking about Sydney (probably during 🤭) and maybe about the gift that he got her, since that’s one of the first things he points out when he sees her☺️

Here’s some bonus thoughts about Under The Table... Sometimes I feel like even though Carmy is technically talking about Claire, he’s talking about Sydney as well. I’ve read meta about how the scenes often switch back to Sydney (especially in bolognese) when Carmy had mentioned Claire. So that’s definitely a visual cue but I feel like Carmy is stuck between a rock and hard place with duty and passion for the both of them. Which also makes it hard for Carmy The Audience to separate what are romantic/platonic feelings for Sydney. They are probably almost one in the same for him. Ok so back to the table:

“She’s so great it scares the shit out of me.” This can also be said for Sydney. Her greatness pushes him to not be shitty. His words not mine.

Because after that he immediately pledged his full love FOCUS to Sydney. He gives her exactly what she needs in that moment, support, affirmation, adoration, reassurance, and loyalty. Things he’d half ass been giving to both of them. And in that moment he chooses and it’s Sydney 🤭

C’mon, c’mon, there must be a way to get Dipper’s body back!
