Matthew 9:35-38 (AMP). “Jesus went throughout all the cities and villages [in Galilee], teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the good news (gospel) of the kingdom, and healing every kind of disease and every kind of sickness [His words and His works reflecting His Messiahship]. When He saw the crowds, He was moved with compassion and pity for them, because they were dispirited and distressed, like sheep without a shepherd. Then He said to His disciples, “The harvest is [indeed] plentiful, but the workers are few. So pray to the Lord of the harvest to send out workers into His harvest.”
Matthew 6:9-13 (AMP). “Pray, then, in this way: ‘Our Father, who is in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. ‘Your kingdom come, Your will be done On earth as it is in heaven. ‘Give us this day our daily bread. ‘And forgive us our debts, as we have forgiven our debtors [letting go of both the wrong and the resentment]. ‘And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from evil. [For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.]’”
“Lord, Teach Us to Pray” By In Touch ministries:
“Keep talking to the Lord—He always welcomes you, just as you are.”
“When it comes to prayer, there are two common pitfalls to be aware of. First, when it’s unclear what to pray, some people choose not to pray at all. And second, many believers settle into a lifeless form of praying that leaves them feeling hollow and disconnected from God. Both situations lead to discontentment and frustration.
As Christians, we know that we should pray, even if doing so seems daunting. But far more than any sense of obligation we may feel, it’s wise to recognize that God intended prayer as a blessing for His children: Communing with Him is a fundamental way of experiencing His fullness. We have much to gain by praying—including peace, comfort, wisdom, and God’s very presence. So it would be tragic to give up on trying.
And remember, when we communicate with God, there’s no measuring stick or scorecard. A fumbling yet heartfelt attempt pleases Him far more than a well-worded litany that lacks sincerity. And keep in mind that formal prayers—such as the one Jesus taught His disciples (Matthew 6:9-13)—can help us find a path back into the practice when we’re lost.
Start with the Lord’s Prayer today and return to it as often as needed. You may eventually find your own words flowing freely as a result. But if not, don’t give up. Just keep talking to the Lord.”

Reflection for Prayer 20: The Lord's Prayer
Our Father, I pause,
this means so much, here I am
never alone, no,
we're one family allied
in a Father that is God.
The great I am is
and He will listen to me
always, anytime,
that is His nature,
to be the One who listens.
In heaven: a place
God set aside to hear us
make our petitions,
a place too holy to see
values our voice in prayer.
Precious is His name,
a holy reputation
the ancient nomen
only He deserves - holy,
I only speak it with awe.
He is coming here,
vanishing distance between
with His full kingdom,
God dwelling among converts,
what an exciting story.
A true wondrous thought,
completion of God's intent,
done once and for all,
all the grief of ruthless life
swept aside for perfection.
Reflecting heaven
earth will lose its distinction,
no place for sin found,
promised abundant life dawns
sweeping away ticks of time.
Today we need gifts,
we can't survive without them,
we are powerless
against sin, temptation, want,
we must rely on His gifts.
Daily provision
without worry, even bread
means no real hunger
is worth us fretting about,
belief is our only job.
Wow, to owe no one,
not even God, pure relief,
actual freedom
from the shortfalls we possess,
from the weights we cannot lift.
A revealed secret
to finding ourselves freedom
in so little words,
my forgiveness meant to flow
like a river from my soul.
Looming temptation
is not where I want to walk,
I want to escape
another way without it,
lead me that way somehow Lord.
The Way and the Truth
does not come naturally,
for we must be led
a lamp at our feet guides us
when we follow He who leads.
Evil has caught us
in a clever trap, we'll die
from its wicked ways
without a deliverer
with a kindly loving heart.
Go ahead, rejoice,
know God controls the kingdom,
one God, one ruler,
it is easy to believe
everything will turn out right.
Power lies with God,
His strength is on our behalf,
our strong champion
remains undefeated still
and not even death can win.
The glory of God
rises robust each morning
we see it, breath it
and fading hope is renewed,
all creation senses it.
A vanishing blip,
this present time fades away,
eternity comes
swallowing up our sorrows
as forever folds up time.
And so it all comes
first to last it will be done,
Alpha, Omega
has laid out His plan and won
Praise for Father, Spirit, Son.

"IF IT'S HIDDEN, IT WON'T HEAL!"
Hebrews 4:12-13, “For the Word of God is living and active and full of power [making it operative, energizing, and effective]. It is sharper than any two-edged sword, penetrating as far as the division of the soul and spirit [the completeness of a person], and of both joints and marrow [the deepest parts of our nature], exposing and judging the very thoughts and intentions of the heart. And not a…

C.S. Lewis Invites Us into the Lord's Prayer
Today, the July letter from the C.S. Lewis Institute arrived. I’m going to quote it at some length because the excerpt from Letters to Malcolm: Chiefly on Prayer is On Helpful is so helpful. But before I do, I want to provide a link to an index for the book that readers might find helpful as well. This particular index is good for all 124 page versions of the book no matter what the cover. Lewis…

The Primacy of Prayer | Timothy J. Keller [Matthew 6:9-13]
Now I'm gonna talk to you about prayer tonight; I am not gonna talk about sex, social justice, gentrification, or contextualization I am talking about prayer—so I expect no hate mail.
How could you hate anything about prayer?
I mainly want to talk to you about prayer: What it is but something about Church planning to start with. If any weakness like prayerlessness —any weakness you have, if you're Christian it'll hurt you in your life.
If you're trying to do Church planning, then prayerlessness will kill you—it won't just hurt you, it'll kill you.
Here's some things that prayer does for example —prayer is the only real way to know yourself.
You can't know who you are until you see GOD, you don't know how small you are till you see the ultimate big person.
The fact of the matter is that the more you know GOD, the more you come to see who you are—& actually you can't know GOD without knowing yourself.
If you can't admit who you are, you can't know GOD—if you don't know GOD, you will never be able to see or admit who you are.
The knowledge of GOD, the knowledge of yourself grow or atrophy together—& what that means is there's no way to even know yourself about prayer
............................................................................................. Secondly there's no way to change without prayer .............................................................................................
You know why?
Because real change happens when your loves are reordered
So if you're saying for example I need to stop [A] I do A & I do B & I need to stop A & B but if you love A & B more than you love GOD; you will go back to A & B.
It doesn't matter how much accountability there is, it doesn't matter the consequences
it doesn't matter how much you try to exert your willpower
The problem is:
Unless you come to love GOD more than you love A&B, you will keep going back to A&B. Now how do you change your love's?
Prayer: I mean in other words praying it's how you grow to love GOD! You don't pray, you are not gonna love GOD.
[1] So personal way to know yourself [2] prayer is the only way to change [3] prayer is the only way to get all the gifts GOD wants to give you. The Bible tells us HE wants to give you a love & wisdom & joy & all kinds of things...
But here's the thing, it's not safe for HIM to give you those things — unless you are a person of prayer.
it's not safe.
I actually won one of the things simple fact of that matter is I might have talked to somebody who became very wealthy early in life; he said was the worst thing that ever happened to him because he made a deal & it went beautifully & he made a ton of money.
And immediately instead of looking at that as either luck or the grace of GOD he said I am really hot spit. I'm great/unbelievable/smart.. I'm smarter than other people. I have more..
He said it was a disaster, he got very big ego, of course he made all kinds of boneheaded decisions because he was so sure his gut was the reason why he got rich.
So now his gut must always be right..
So you understand why if GOD gives you all the great gifts HE's got ready for you. If you haven't prayed it would be the worst thing for you?
You would take credit for this.
I must be better, not I'm more blessed!
No, that's not how your heart operates—meaning you're not gonna get the blessings GOD wants to give you, if you don't pray.
You're not going to know yourself: if you don't pray —you're not gonna change, if you don't pray, you're not gonna know GOD...if you don't pray.
You may know about GOD
You've got to learn to pray, you have to—there's no other way, it hurts you not to be a person of prayer — not just in life, also if you are trying to do some cutting edge ministry; it'll kill you. . .
1.] Now what do we do?
How do we learn a little bit about prayer & what I'm gonna do is go to the LORD's Prayer. Let me read you the LORD's Prayer, & what comes right before it & let me just walk through it for a bit.
And I can't possibly cover everything, we'll have a Q&A afterwards—but it's awfully good sometimes to take a helicopter ride over a subject.
And just look at all the parts of it—at least even tho you can't go into much detail, but let me read you this is of course for Matthew 6:9-13
JESUS says & when you pray do not be like the hypocrites for they love to pray standing in the synagogues & on the street corners to be seen by others..
Truly I tell you, they've received their reward in full—but when you pray, go into your room close the door & pray to your FATHER WHO is unseen.
Then your FATHER WHO sees what is done in secret, will reward you & when you pray do not keep on babbling like pagans.
For they think they will be heard because of their many words. This is how you pray:
Our FATHER in Heaven,
Hallowed be YOUR Name, YOUR Kingdom come, YOUR will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven.
Give us today our daily bread, Forgive us our debts as we have forgiven our debtors & lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil.
For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your Heavenly FATHER will also forgive you.
But if you do not forgive others their sins, your FATHER will not forgive you your sins
Now let's just notice these things:
[1] There's a foundation for prayer [2] We'll look at the kinds of prayer & then [3] We'll close with a just looking at a key to it; the foundation for prayer is your relationship with GOD.

The Reluctant Brothers Who Didn't Believe
As we’ve been talking about eyewitnesses around the life of Jesus, there is a small group that bears consideration. Think about his own brothers. They saw him every day growing up, and knew him well. The few glimpses we get of them suggest that they had concerns about their eldest brother. Mark 3:21 says that as Jesus’ ministry began to draw crowds, “[his family] went to take charge of him, for…

"PASS THE PLATE PLEASE!"
2 Kings 7:9, “Then they said to each other, “What we’re doing is not right. This is a day of good news AND WE ARE KEEPING IT TO OURSELVES…” (NIV) So, Thanksgiving is almost here and it immediately makes me think about sitting at the family table. You see, somewhere in the ‘Fathers Handbook’, I’m convinced it says that the father automatically gets to carve the turkey, or the ham, or the roast.…
