One thing that’s very frustrating about being a modest woman who grew up in a hyper conservative family is that everyone who knows you views your modesty as a failing of your upbringing rather than your own choice. It is my decision how much of my body I wish to display to the public; I don’t live at home, and I’m not a child. However, this leads to many people, especially white girls, trying to change or “corrupt” me when I’m perfectly fine the way I am.
Being modest doesn’t mean I have an aversion to anything sex related and I dress like a nun. Believe me, my father finds a reason to comment on everything I wear, even if it’s modest. He commented on my leggings four or five times when I went home this weekend. Maybe stop staring at my ass, weirdo. He also complains if even part of my midriff shows when I raise my arms. He comments if I cuss, etc etc.
But guess what? I cuss. I wear leggings. I can discuss sensitive topics like sex. Me preferring not to show my ass and tits in public is not a failure of my upbringing, but rather my body my choice.

I see so many well intentioned women talking about how modesty is important when it comes to men's objectification of them. Like, they will condemn men's lust, but say, "but we have to do our part too." I just need you guys to understand that there is literally no amount of clothing you can wear to keep men from sexualizing you. It sucks, but it's true.
I dress very modestly by the typical conservative Christian standard... Loose clothing, long dresses/skirts, nothing low cut, etc. Usually the only skin I expose is my forearms, neck, and face... But I am not exempt from being sexualized. I can't tell you how many times I've heard stuff like, "it's so hot when women leave things up to the imagination" and "I love your librarian/teacher vibe, it's so sexy." Men sexualize nuns and muslim women, who are completely covered. No woman is exempt from this.
Why is this important? So you can stop blaming yourself for men treating you like sexual potential instead of a person and hold men accountable for their own willful inability to control themselves.
To the Christian women, you are not responsible for men choosing to lust after you. Lust is a choice. I am same-sex attracted, and when I find myself attracted to a woman, I simply choose not to fantasize and lust after her. Men are capable of the same, they just like to shift blame.
As a Christian, I dress modestly as an act of humility more than anything else, but I know there is nothing I can do to control the sinful actions of men. Please stop blaming yourselves.

So modesty is now something that I admire and it took forever bc as women, we’re often taught that showing our bodies off and wearing provocative clothing is “eMpOwErMeNt”. When in reality is just another way men get to get a view without having to commit, surpass our standards, and treat us with respect. When you think abt it, the world only encourage women to dress this way and if you do the opposite then you’re a “prude”, “a slave to religion” or even “that you’re insecure”
It’s sickening 🤮
Modesty is a beautiful thing.
Modesty is sexy.
Modesty is how you treat others.
Modesty is your mindset.
Modesty is your speech choices.
Modesty is your clothing choices.
Modesty is even how you treat yourself.
Biblical modesty is beautiful.
Men should be modest too.
Modesty isn’t boring.
You are much more than the skin you choose to show.
Don’t let others tell you ladies otherwise 🤝🏾
Luv y’all 🫶🏾🫶🏾
