The thing about that scene in the inbetween place with the Lord of the Hells is that I genuinely do think he is telling the truth. The truth of what happens and the emotions he is feeling. He’s definitely manipulating Zerxus, for sure, but manipulation doesn’t automatically mean lying

he’s wearing his dead husband’s face. He’s bleeding out. He knows Zerxus doesn’t favour any god, which means he can be understanding to any of them. He says so himself he knows who he is, what he does, how lies work. And he has no reason to lie.

If he wasn’t looking to manipulate someone, when he knows who he is, he wouldn’t say anything at all
