I love shopping at niche online merch shops that really shouldn't exist, like the Heinz 57 Apparel Store and the Whataburger Gift Shop. One of my favorites is the USPS "gifts" section of the website, because it's mostly very elegant prints of commemorative stamps, and then once in a while just tosses some wild-ass shit out there.
Like Farley.
Tumblr media
Farley is an anthropomorphic postbox. He's extremely shaped.
I thought maybe he was some kind of new mascot but as far as I can tell he's just a stuffed postbox retailing for $15. He appears to be named for James Aloysius Farley, postmaster general from 1933-40, but I do not know why. Ah, sweet mysteries of life.
[ID: A screengrab from the USPS website of a stuffed toy; it is shaped like a USPS mail receptacle, a tall blue bin with four legs. The toy has a US Mail stamp on the side and a beaming face where the mail slot would normally be.]

Inadvisable tabletop RPG premise #137: Nobilis-style god game, except instead of being the rulers of various fundamental concepts, the player characters are those concepts' mascots, in the sense of sports arena or theme park mascots. They still have terrible reality-warping powers, but they can only use them while wearing their mascot suits – our of costume they're effectively regular humans.
Because mascots don't talk, while the characters are suited up, their players are only allowed to speak to the GM, and then only to state what their character does; all other communication – including coordinating with other players and dialogue with NPCs – must be carried out either via exaggerated gestures*, or by holding up printed signs which the player in question has prepared ahead of time.
This restriction may temporarily be set aside by miming the act of taking off the head of one's costume, after which that player may speak normally; however, doing so renders their character powerless and vulnerable during the following exchange.
* And no sign language, either – that's disrespecting the spirit of it!

There are thousands of mascots (Yuru-chara) in Japan, some of them, one from each prefecture.

One of those minor league sports dramas where the principal villain initially appears to be the wealthy owner of the rival team, except in the final act it’s revealed that everything was actually orchestrated by the rival team’s mascot, who’s been ruling from the shadows through a combination of blackmail and political acumen the whole time, leaving the rival team’s nominal owner as a powerless figurehead. The mascot gets a villain speech. At no point do they remove the costume.
