The Little Shy Kitten was illustrated by Gustaf Tenggren, who was chief illustrator for Disney in the late 1930s. His work is well-worth checking out!

When I started #saillustration2 this term they had us come up with our Dream Portfolio of artists and styles we like and aspire to. A few are teachers I’ve had like @vanessabrantleynewton @juliedessine and @adolfoserra over the last year. And others I have found while doing masters studies of #picturebooks like @jonklassen @suzyleebooks @peterhreynolds @theartoffun @peterbrownstudio @shelleyjohannes @choochoojoey #ericcarle #leolionni #maryblair #ezrajackkeats I have learned so much from all of them and will keep learning more I’m sure. They are all so inspirational. Than we had to come up with our list of #100thingsilovetodraw This was hard. I’m still learning, but had I done this a year ago, I would not have made it to 100. Wow this week went by fast! I'm feeling much better, but this up and down weather we're having in Texas doesn't not help lol

Here we are with Prompt no 3 for our Vintage Book Week 2023 Challenge, "Thumbelina". This is a fairy tale I was quite familiar with. I even loved the Don Bluth & Gary Goldman animated film as a kid. Come on Charro as the momma frog?!? lol Here is my take on the vintage book cover.
