The panels begin to overlap with each other. The next shows Chul-moo's face and shoulders from the front, looking unamused with slightly gritted teeth. In the next panel, the hooded man (it is Ratthew the Vile) tilts his head up, revealing a truly scummy smile framed by strands of loose hair and topped off by several worse scratches and bruises. His dialogue is in two bubbles connected to him both here and in the next panel. It reads, "Oh, don't worry. There's another outsider doing the same in the Speakers' camp right now. And I guarantee they're not being as friendly about it as me." He says the last part in a large panel with a solid dark background that extends vertically behind the two above it. Both figures are shown from the side, facing each other and starkly lit by the doorway. Chul-moo's arms are crossed, and Rat looks up at him, still smiling, with his bound wrists held in front of his chest.
The second page starts with two panels side by side, simpler than the previous one. Chul-moo is doodled with raised eyebrows and wide eyes, gesturing loosely and saying "Great!!" Then with lowered eyebrows and holding his hands emphatically, saying "Why don't you go help with that then."
The next panel shows him again, drawn with the original level of detail, slightly backlit by the doorway. He has lifted one hand from crossed arms to wave it in the air, eyes closed with an irritated smirk, saying "I can even give you some pointers," and in smaller text outside of a bubble, "Please get our bread oven guy out of there."
The next panel shows most of Rat's seated form from the front and the edge of Chul-Moo's crossed arms from behind. Rat's smile has become more unassuming and friendly, his one blackened eye shut and head tilted slightly. His hands are still tied so he gestures slightly with his thumbs, saying "Well... The company here is so much nicer..."
The next three panels are the same size and shape, stacked vertically to the right of the previous one. The first two are close ups of Chul-Moo's eyes, first glaring down with one raised eyebrow, with no dialogue, then looking to the right with an unreadable expression, saying, "Is that right?" The third is a blank dark box with white text that says "Maybe we've been too forgiving then."
The next two panels are close-ups of hands; The first is Chul-Moo's armored fingers over the opposite elbow of his crossed arms, the pinky finger tapping slightly. The second is Ratthew the Vile's bound hands, seen from the side, with all the fingers comfortably folded besides the pinkies which are sticking out slightly. Dialogue extending across both panels says "Or if you mean it... Why not join us for real?"
A jagged tail leads from the last dialogue bubble to an even more loosely-drawn final panel with no frame or shading. It is being emitted by a boxy radio on a large table, surrounded by Kestrel Ayumi, Detective Rama, and Gorrik, who are all wearing varying concerned or weirded-out expressions. Ayumi is saying, "The little Krytan got caught again. I thought you said he'd be good at this?" Gorrik replies, "He should be! The Marshal said he did this stuff all the time! Maybe he's sick?" Another bubble from the radio says "—What a generous offer—." Rama says "I'm gonna be sick if I have to keep listening to this." end ID

Teen Cups - Plot Notes Part 1

Cuphead walks further away with his bag [I would have corrected the sketch in the last page WIP, since I drew him letting it with the others. You’ll know why in a bit.], where he and Chalice were at night in the flashback a few pages ago. Mugman and Puphead join him to check on him.
Mugman: Cuphead ?
Cuphead: I wanna be alone.
Puphead pokes him.
Cuphead: Ugh… What ?!
Puphead: *signing* We’re all happy to get to spend time with you again.
Mugman: They could have done better, true. But you should still enjoy the moment !
Cuphead: Leave me alone...
Puphead follows Mugman as he walks away, mumbling :
Mugman: At least, he’s taking fresh air…
Cuphead hears him and rolls his eyes while getting a cigarette.
Cuphead sits down at the edge of the water and stares at the sea. The night falls, and he’s now writing in a notebook, his bag open, as he got it from it. The moon is surrounded by a few clouds. He then gets up to join the others again. They’re all around a campfire.
Sammy: Aha ! Look who decided to come back~
Cuphead: Sammy, you say one more word and I leave.
Sammy: Geesh, can you stop being a jerk ?!
Baroness von Bonbon: Cut it, you two ! Want a marshmallow, Cuphead ?
Cuphead: No thanks.
He walks to his tent.
Baroness von Bonbon: Okay ! But stay here at least !
Cuphead: Am I allowed to put my stuff in my tent, or what ?!
Baroness von Bonbon: Yes. As well as having manners !
Cala Maria: Is it me, or everyone is in a bad mood since he arrived ?
Mugman looks down next to her, tightening his legs while sitting. He starts coughing. The coughing worsens, making Cuphead hurry out of his tent. Samuel, who’s sitting on Mugman’s other side, puts a worried hand on his shoulder.
Samuel: Mug? Are you okay?
Cuphead reappears and crouches beside him.
Cuphead: Mug ?
Mugman gets up and walks a bit further to isolate himself, as the fit is getting worse, Cala commenting in the background :
Cala Maria: Man, his cough is so nasty…
Baroness von Bonbon: Poor Mug…
Cuphead gets up again to follow him.
Sammy: I thought he wasn’t sick anymore ?
Cuphead: Do you have your inhaler ?
Mugman nods and gets it from his pocket. Cuphead takes it and shakes it for him.
Cuphead: I knew it was a bad idea to come !
Mugman frowns.
Mugman: Shush…
He inhales the medicine, Baroness von Bonbon yelling from out of the panel :
Baroness von Bonbon: Is he okay ?!
Cuphead: UGH, GIVE US SOME SPACE, BONNIE !!!
Mugman retains his breath with a done face.
Baroness von Bonbon: Dammit, what’s wrong with you ?! We barely see you anymore, and when we do, it’s to be yelled at non stop ! You’re ruining our night !
Cala Maria: No wonder. He always goes to the casino. He can’t be surrounded by respectable people.
Mugman is catching up his breath, wheezing.
Cuphead: Mug, let’s just go home ! You’re not well anyway.
Mugman: No ! I’ll be *cough* fine… *wheeze* I won’t let it prevent me from having fun ! *wheeze*
Cuphead: I’m clearly not welcome anyway.
Mugman: Of course you are ! *wheeze* Just try to… Just enjoy, okay ? Puphead brought- *cough* *cough* -cards to play. *wheeze* Maybe you can teach us poker or something ?
Cuphead: You won’t go back home, are you ?
Mugman: No.
Cuphead sighs.
Cuphead: Fine.
They come back.
Baroness von Bonbon: You chill now ?!
Cuphead stays silent, looking at her scornfully. He then asks Puphead :
Cuphead: Hey Pup, Mugman told me you got a card game ?
Puphead nods.
Cuphead: You guys wanna gamble ?
Sammy: To be honest, I’m curious.
Sam: I don’t want to bet money. I don’t even have that much on me right now.
Cuphead: No problem, Sam. We can make it interesting another way.
Sam: Like ?
Cuphead: Loser sniffs cocaine.
Sam: I’m out.
Sammy: ...Why not.
Sam’s eyes widen.
Sam: WHAT ?!
Sammy: For my experience ! It’s just a try !
Sam: Sammy, you know what it implies, right ?
Sammy: Yeah, yeah, dependence, blah blah blah… But it’ll be just once !
Cuphead: Hehe, yeah sure~
Sammy: You don’t think I’m able ?
Cuphead: Yanno it’s hard drugs, right ?
Sammy: And what does that mean ?
Cuphead: The kind that are hard to stop.
Sam: Cuphead, don’t do anything that extreme ! Please...
Cuphead: Fine. Marijuana it’ll be.
Sam: How is it not extreme ?!
Cuphead: It’s soft drugs.
Sam: Are you serio-
Sammy: Shut up now, Sam ! I’m tired of you bossing me around ! If I want to give it a try, I’ll just do it !
Sam frowns and grumbles.
Samuel: But I… I don’t want you to die !
Cuphead laughs.
Cuphead: He won’t, don’t worry Samuel. It’ll be more like-
Time skip to Sammy puking at a tree a bit further. Cuphead teases him, while smoking too.
Cuphead: That makes you a double loser, dude !
Mugman is sitting beside Baroness von Bonbon, a hand on his nose.
Baroness von Bonbon: YOU’re the loser ! You don’t even care about your brother who can’t breathe because of you !
Cuphead: He’s far from me enough !
Mugman: No. You know the smoke always comes to me, whatever you do.
Cuphead: Ugh, fine. I’ll extinguish it.
He rubs it on the floor.
Cuphead: There, happy ?
Mugman: No. I’m SO ashamed of you !
Baroness von Bonbon : To be honest, I don’t want you to hang out with us anymore.
Cuphead frowns as she says that and gets up, an empty glass bottle in his hand.
Cuphead: Fine with me !
He throws it violently on the floor.
Cuphead: FUCK Y’ALL !
He lifts his middle finger to them, as he goes to his tent.
[Alternate idea: Try to make him lift the 2 middle fingers, as he has 4 fingers, to see if it works visually, and make him say :
Cuphead: Uuh, which finger is it again... Ok nvm, imagine there's only one - FUCK Y’ALL !]
Cala Maria: Geesh ! How are you dealing with this everyday, Mug ?
Mugman: It’s not that bad, usually. Sometimes with Grandpa. But with me, I feel like he retains himself.

Chapter 1063: Ambush
When I read the spoilers this week and saw Law’s name, I actually gasped. I had just resigned myself to not seeing him for at least a year, if not longer--depending on how long this current arc lasted. But we must truly be in the endgame if we’re seeing flashes to the outside world in the middle of an arc rather than between arcs.
And then I saw what was happening with Law and basically had this reaction:
Me: I miss Law already. I hope we see him sooner rather than later. Oda: Law vs. Blackbeard Me: NO NOT LIKE THAT
But I’ll come back to this. First, the cover story:

So, it looks like Kuzan kidnapped Pudding, which would give Blackbeard the ability to read the Poneglyphs. For all the twisted nature of the Charlotte family, you can tell they really care about one another. 
Of course, Zoro’s request from last chapter was left on a cliffhanger. Still, we have some good moments with divorced dad Jinbei and his Devil Fruit-eating children.

And Atlas throwing some shade at Jinbei, but Jinbei just goes with it.

She has to know this isn’t her father. Is her reaction that she doesn’t like the visual of Luffy attacking a Pacifista that looks like her father? Oof.
Okay, anyway. To the completely unexpected part of the chapter: TRAFALGAR D. WATER LAW IS BACK.
The Blackbeard Pirates have ambushed the Hearts, and the Tang has taken too much damage to stay submerged.

The fandom explodes. Oda’s been finding ways to bring a number of his SBS sketches into canon, from the young Warlords (Seraphim) to female Law. This is so random and more evidence someone needs to bonk Oda and send him to horny jail.
(She is really cute, though.)
I can’t stop laughing at female Bepo in the background though.
Shachi and Penguin are such dorks, and Law has no patience for it. I love their friendship.
For all the people (looking at you, Reddit) who think Law has weak Haki, well...

He’s able to overcome the effects of Doc Q’s powers with his Haki.
Look, Doc Q’s powers are the ability to spread disease, so I find the idea that being a woman is a “disease” pretty gross. I’d like to know if Ikkaku turned into a man during this; if the “disease” is just changing genders, then my annoyance drops significantly.

Still, the translation of “Ma-lady” was clever. I’ll be interested to see the official translation of this line.
(Update: The official called it the “Feminizaton Disease.” Gross.)
We see the various Devil Fruits members of the Blackbeard Pirates have gotten, including the Warp-Warp Fruit and the Buff-Buff Fruit.

I was thinking about this, but @chromatic-lamina​ has a nice breakdown here of how these powers are essentially all things Law’s own fruit can do. He seems like the best person to counter these various powers.
And then the big man himself arrives -- hilariously, on the back of Doc Q.

I love this panel with Law popping out of the panels as he faces Blackbeard. (Also, he’s still in his tank top. Now I may need to be bonked, oops.)
What’s really interesting to me here, though, is the familiarity with which Blackbeard is speaking. It shows they clearly interacted at Rocky Port. And, lest we forget, Blackbeard is holding Coby -- the so-called hero of Rocky Port -- captive. This is where we learn what happened during that incident, isn’t it? *vibrates in excitement*
Am I worried about Law here? Yes. Law has a damaged ship and Blackbeard plus three of his lieutenants. Is Law going to hold his own in this fight? Absolutely. I mean, look at this face.

He doesn’t look afraid. However, Blackbeard and his people fight dirty.
There is zero narrative purpose to killing Law here. For one thing, if Oda planned to kill Law as soon as Wano ended, there was no need to give him the new motivation to learn about the Will of D. Yes, Robin is also interested, but Law is the only D. we’ve seen who wants to know about his name. For another, Luffy doesn’t need more motivation to want to fight Blackbeard; his role in Ace’s death is plenty. 
But Blackbeard also is going to get some kind of win here, I think.
That said, I could easily see Law being taken captive and, held alongside Coby, we learn about the Rocky Port incident. I could also see an interruption to the fight a la Rayleigh coming to Amazon Lily. 
I hope it’s not off-screened, but then again, the last time we saw Sabo, he was on an island that got nuked and we haven’t heard anything since.
(Are we going to see what Kid is up to in a future chapter as well? I’m still so surprised to see Law so soon after the end of Wano.)

That doesn't sound bad. That's only disappointing if it disappoints you. What kind of stuff do you tend to sketch if I may ask? Also might've been low key seeing if you play video games that I could invite you to play.
Ah, you know, thank you for this. 🥹 they are my hobbies, and I need to learn not to minimize them or apologize for liking them. (Old habits, it comes with growing up the way I did and being told that liking comic books and Star Wars and "living in a fantasy world" was making me weak) But yeah I mean. It's not disappointing to like reading, or art, or video games, nor does it make someone a loser.
(I need to remember that)
I love to draw all kinds of things, I have a sketchpad filled with stuff from reference/still life, I like practicing drawing flowers, I actually sometimes like drawing smut/ shibari and if I ever actually posted that online I'd tag the models I referenced... not even in a horny way but there's something wonderful I find in shibari or fetish stuff artists that they challenge you, in drawing in a pen and ink medium, to workshop how you adapt poses, musculature, lighting, all that stuff.
And I have a lot of superheroes.
When I was a kid, all the way up to about 17, I wanted to be a graphic novelist, make my own comics that were like just my teenaged brain firing off ideas I'd sponged up from a lot of X-Men and a LOT of Toonami. I didnt go on to become a comics artist, in fact, due to being discouraged by my dad and others (...but, well, my dad) I sort of came to the conclusion it was childish ("cute lil cartoons," they were derisively called) and let my gift atrophy. I drew nothing.
So in coming back to it, slowly over the last... ten years? Ive gotten back in to art.
It's not the same as it was. Sadly, it can't be, that fire I had when I was young was well. Stomped out.
So I cant make panels, and I struggle with transition and movement from one panel to the next to make a story flow, and sometimes it feels like I draw OTHER people's heroes like Spider-Man like I'm a fucking cover band at a dive bar playing KISS.
But I've still worked on it, and grown a lot over those last ten years, and found a peace in it that yeah, idk, maybe it isnt what I wanted to be when I was young but it's still art, dammit.
So yeah, sorry. Im wordy and it was complicated to answer but you kind of put a dime in and got me talking about it so. My sketchbook has lots of microliner ink drawing, some flowers and still life, some smut, some X-Men cover band stuff, just stuff I want to challenge myself to draw.
I'm also determined to experiment more with color like my copic markers this year so.
Video games I play are really a lot of single player open world stuff, Im currently grinding on um.
...fallout4 OKAY DONT JUDGE ME, I am of the specific brand of gamer that finds some peace and comfort in going back to Skyrim and Fallout from time to time...
I would love to get in to games with other people but I wouldnt know where to start, or what to pick up, frankly, but that is a kind offer and one I'd be interested in maybe perhaps at some point
I take it back... I did have a coop farm in Stardew Valley I played sorta multiplayer with my friend from CO but... our friendship sort of died off and we dont Stardew together anymore... fuck Im sad now.

This is probably the only art I have to show for the past two weeks so here it is...!
The Beauty Which Only Beast Knows
The script is now done and currently being edited. Unfortunately, we have slipped a bit on the dates we hoped to meet for milestones. I'll probably need to make a new schedule soon.
But, hey... If we take until May to finish, we can submit it for Otome Jam!
Stuck in a Yandere Visual Novel... HELP!!
Okay, I may have dropped the ball on this 💦 I got the script to my editor/proofreader and they did amazing!! They finished reviewing well before the deadline they gave themself, but I didn't realize that lol;; So I could've started scripting a lot earlier, but I didn't;;
I was really hoping to finish the entire project by the end of March, but since March has 3 days left, that probably isn't possible. But, it should be done soon. I just have 20k words to script...
But other than that, all the art has been programmed in! (Until I decide I want more animation during CG moments lol

I won't go into a lot of detail for this, but since it took a lot of my time the past few weeks, I decided to add it here as accomplishments.
(I think I wrote over 10k words in gifts the past couple weeks.)
A Sky of Falling Birds
The script for this has been finished for a while so I thought I'd start making some sketch sprite work for it. I still don't know for sure what sort of visual theme I want to use for the game so I didn't get very far.
[Peter Pan Project]
Perhaps I'm jumping the gun a bit, but since SYVNH is coming to a finish, I started thinking about what future projects to do. This idea was something I came up with on a whim last year and I decided to revisit it to see what I can possibly make out of it.
It'll likely be shorter than SYVNH (read: for my sanity, future me, please make it shorter) and is inspired by Peter Pan. It'll be a BL so we have Wendell as our main character, exploring a fictional Victorian-esque kingdom. I'm still debating on the routes and gameplay.
The visual themes for this project are inspired by Pandora Hearts, D. Gray-Man, and possibly Smokin' Parade.

welcome to earth! welcome to PHOTOSYNTH!
once upon a time in october 2022, i listened to a song called "the turn of a dream" by robert schroeder and imagined people in a space ship, en route to move (back) to earth. they've got two cats who are sitting on the dashboard panels of buttons and switches of the spaceship. there's a little bit of urgency, like they're on the run, but they're also a bit caught up in awe at the sight of earth.
visually there was a lot of messing with crt tvs like pushing through electricity and screens and static. more below the cut! feel free to ask me things about it :D
from that little song kernel i started having fun imagining what earth might look like in a distant future, and what the people would be like, and what their experiences might look like in a post climate-change-global-capital-collapse world. what could grow? in this project i'm also thinking a lot about technology- the sustainability and evolution of gadgets and gizmos over the last few decades and what consequences our excess causes.
what use can we get out of things that are old but still have useful parts or still function? what can we create with what's left over?
who gets left behind after the rich and powerful deem earth unlivable? what will they do to survive?
i have no idea what photosynth may come to be - perhaps animation? a web comic? i haven't decided! i'd like it to be a collaborative something someday! this is all a big sandbox i am stomping around in and constantly adding to ! i've drawn some characters a little and have brainstormed some scenes but i don't have something to be read yet. and i'm honestly perfectly content to let it stay that way for years . i hope it's something tangible in the world as a finished object in like. 10 years. i think that's a fair amount of time to give myself. (i have a pinterest board with 700+ images, an 11 hour playlist, unfinished sketches, an archival external hard drive, and a very chaotic notebook.)
anyway! lets ground ourselves a bit beyond abstract conception shall we!
on earth, the great emigration begins. earth has gotten severely dangerous for life, and Scientists have recently discovered the yellowstone volcano in the west of the american empire is rapidly getting close to eruption. they can't predict when exactly the volcano will blow, but they know it will mean certain destruction for much of the continent, and contribute to global climate shift. a volcanic winter/small ice age, at least. the governing bodies make some swift and grand decisions. space travel has improved enough that the upper class can access it when necessary. state-based spaceships are designated for the rich and powerful, because of course we need our government leaders where we go next, or else we'll be lost! mars exploration has developed enough that there is a station large enough for the federal branch of government to set up shop. able bodied manual laborers are organized by tech conglomerates across the country and are sent to work on building ZEXA, a man made base to start up this new ultimate civilization. any employee within the empire working in certain disciplines are given numbers and ships with certain number ranges are assigned for migration. the empire drops its borders, encouraging mass migration to the south and elsewhere in whatever way people can get access to. it doesn't assist the process beyond that.
an empire moves to mars, leaving a majority of its population behind.
yellowstone erupts. north america is largely uninhabitable. the globe's climate is significantly altered.
time moves. the largest settlement (Jovia) in the north american continent is established and is home to roughly [300k? 1 million? idk] people.
Zexa 5's Galactic Federation bombs Jovia, starting the interplanetary war. a little girl escapes the destruction. across an ocean, a pair of newlyweds gear up for battle. two continents over, a "research project" begins development. the war "ends."
occupation remains, and the pressure cooker is reaching fever pitch.....
lets meet some characters!!!!! :D
ROSE EYE, named for her pink heart shaped glasses that double as a sniper scope. also known as JEN, who once escaped the destruction of her home town.
Jen is reputable assassin, with skills in stealth and both long and close range combat. she got her code name after a factory whistle blowing turned into a company's collapse, which she only escaped because of the help of THORN.
THORN, named alongside rose eye for their partnership in rescuing factory employees and carrying out the attack on the company. she's dubbed thorn for her electrified blade weapon and her unique virus software .//th0Rn that gives her full access to multi level security systems. of course it helped she was a security guard at the factory...
also known as HANA. adept at engineering and spacecraft with a love for earth-bound air travel, hana is joyful and loves country music and happens to save her workplace crush who wears those pink glasses everywhere's ass, jumpstarting her criminal career and a high speed chase off-planet. next stop: earth!
on earth, twin boys are knee deep in the junkyards after school to scavenge for new materials. ADI is looking for electronics, AMIR is looking for anything he can fashion into useful clothing. amir is taller. not by much, but by enough that you should know. they've found an old pc with a series of oddly prophetic corrupted plain text files and jpegs. one file looks like some sort of schematic. they'll bring it home and scare their mother, reminding her of what killed their father.
both boys are 19, one sporting purple hair dye and the other a nose ring, for individuality. they're about to complete their foundational educations and choose their apprenticeships and mentors.
across an ocean or two, a galactic federation research facility enters its 21st year of operation. a man who's been fighting to escape it since its inception just might make it this time. in cairo, a pilot receives an order to target that facility.
IVAN has been a prisoner of a galactic federation human experiment facility since he was a child. he's been pushed and prodded in research of the "human limits of strength and survival". despite fighting his captors his whole life, he is what they wanted him to become: a deadly weapon. and he's about to be freed by a man who terrifies him in a different way.
MIGUEL grew up surrounded by rebels and pilots. after his parents were executed by the galactic federation he was raised by an old mechanic in cairo. covered in tattoos piercings and charisma, miguel fashions himself unknowable and invulnerable . with nothing to lose he carries out targeted attacks on galactic federation bases. he just received a mission order that will bring him back to an old friend and give him lives to protect and live for.

Some Guppy sketches...
Still not great at this whole art thing, but I think I'm improving lol. The keep reading is just explanations to any curious. Didn't want the post too long.
Also sorry for the tag @biggrumbus I don't know how you feel about them. I really like your Jazzinos (and Bruno too!) And had a lot of empty space soo....yeah.

Upper right is Guppy in his "nest". And by nest I mean a pile of soft objects he obtained by various means. It's some old pipe room, one that isn't or wasn't very important. Perfect safety place.
Then there's a bit of fan art of @biggrumbus Jazzinos. They are great friend shaped creatures.
Guppy's love of soft items gets him in a bit of trouble when he swipes a Jazzinos lovely tie! To be fair, he didn't purposely steal it. It was just....there. and no one was around. This doesn't impress big ol Beelzebino. I honestly don't know how or if Beelzebino would react. But I like to imagine him like that grumpy old man who refuses to admit he cares, but everyone knows he does. Don't worry, the Jazzino got his tie back.
The last panel...thing is Guppy being....Guppy. Only reason Peppino wasn't raging mad is because that wasn't his phone. And yes, he proceeded to eat it. His intelligence is ... questionable.

I like how its just kind of a sketch? but i was really happy with how the shapes worked and how the weight of the pen worked as well. :3 13. last year is definitely harder! I made quite a number of pieces i really loved doing, but im going with the ones that still make me kind of smile(even if its because i think theyre a little funny hehe)

im going to say this preyduo comic i made for the Anarchy and Rambles gift exchange, because I had such a blast making it at the time and the Techno in it i still feel like i haven't beat(which might be a little silly but listen the man deserves his princess bride shirt and his cookies okay). Also I don't usually get to draw quackity! So i was really happy with how he turned out. (however, a close second would be the hamilton and george comic :3 I'll put my favorite panel down here as well)

WARNING: THRILLER! body horror, gore, shapeshifting, mutations, paranoia, supernatural, death.
“I will now activate the host.”
The clarity of night sustains a slate sky, and silver clouds. The clouds were so faint, it was like someone smeared them lightly with an eraser. 
The wail of a siren sounds through the street, creating a Doppler Effect. The sound waves were frequent when they were closest to the open window, then the pitch reduced as the vehicle continued down the street. 
Traffic whizzed by, some people shuffled about. The constellation of bright neon city lights of Tokyo was a dreamscape for any tourist.
Garfield Logan, was a young man of twenty-four years. Following the recent conclusion of his schooling, Garfield moved from America to Tokyo to pursue a career. After several years of art studies and mentoring in the art field, Garfield has embarked into the manga industry. 
Right off the bat, he was a hot shot. Editors recommended Garfield to some of the most top tier studios in Japan, like MAPPA, Wit, Ufotable, and Kyoto Animation. However, Garfield declined those positions, and created one for himself.
He worked from home, using an extra room in the house as his workspace. His manga series mainly focused on the genres thriller or dark fantasy. 
Garfield boasts one best-selling series in particular called <em>Unnatural</em>. 
The series even went so far as to become an animation, of which was streamed globally. Even with his productions well-known to the world, there were very few people that knew him privately.
A tan complexion, teal-green eyes with speckles of hazel, brown hair with a few jade highlights, and a well barbered beard and cut. Garfield wore glasses, a couple of silver rings, and he had a glove of small tattoos on his hand.
Garfield is snoozing off at his desk. The desk, a fertile wood, standing with strong iron legs. It was aging slowly with wooden swirls— it was the doorway of infinite imagination. 
He was in the middle of sketching a panel. The colored pens, the stubby, half-graphite shaded erasers were strewn across the surface; buried amongst loose sheets of paper. Garfield had shelves upon shelves of his own manga, and a few others he liked to read on occasion.
Garfield snaps out of his snooze, and looks around his room frantically. His eyes scan over the shadows the moonlight carved, and the silhouettes of objects. Last time he checked, sunshine was spraying through his window, and the world outside was more vibrant.
“Damn it, I dozed off again. If I keep doing this, I’ll never finish this volume,” He wipes a thin film of drool off of his scrap papers. “I could have sworn I heard a voice, too. Could just be the jitters after waking up.”
Garfield gets up from his desk, and advances to the kitchen.
His younger brother, Gabriel, who is fifteen years old, is sitting on the couch playing video games.  Gabriel resembled his brother perfectly, except his eyes were more of a striking, pure blue.
“Hey, Gabe.” Garfield greets drowsily.
Gabriel replies. “Hi, Gar. You sound tired.” 
“I am, I’m more tired than I could imagine. I’m sure if I eat something and get a full night’s rest, I’ll be as good as new.”
“That’s a possibility. Shoot! I’ve played this round at least five times and I still can’t win!” Gabriel exclaims, clenching the control angrily.
Garfield rummages in a cabinet, and gets a pack of Pocky. Pocky was one of the most well known snacks in Japan. The snack consisted of a crunchy biscuit stick, and two thirds of a sweet-coated combination. Any flavor from strawberry, to Garfield’s favorite, chocolate banana. 
He opens the box, and smiles lightly as he crunches into the treat.
“Sucker.”
“Why won't you come and play it yourself then?” Gabriel huffs.
“Nah, I’m good.” 
“Aha, you’re scared that you’ll lose.” 
“No,” Garfield leans against the countertop. “Maybe I just want to eat my snack?”
Gabriel smirks at his brother. “Oooooor, maybe you think you’re too cool for video games.” 
“Couldn’t be me. Video games will always be valid.”
“Yeah, yeah, okay, boss. I’m gonna go off to sleep, I’ve got a civics exam tomorrow.”
“Alright, buddy bro. Good luck, and I’ll see you tomorrow.”
Gabe neatly packs up his controller near the game station, then leaves the room. Garfield sighs, switching the television through several channels.
He cruises past a few anime series, a couple of documentaries, comedies, then settles with the news.
“Good evening, everyone. A stubborn and brutal reality check this evening as we hone in on the heart of Japan… Tokyo,” 
Garfield’s eyebrows knit slightly as his attention focuses on the report.
“A bowl-shaped cavity in the resemblance of a crater has appeared in the main streets of the northern eastern side of the city. The most confusing thing about this is, there is no sign of a meteorite or another celestial body.” 
“What? A crater without an impact?” Garfield asks himself quietly.
“Here is a perspective from a book keeper that works nearby the scene.” 
The camera switches to a young oriental woman.
“I don’t know what could have happened. Usually when you see a crater, of course you expect to see some big rock of some sort… At least some cars overturned, houses destroyed, and casualties. However, we can’t find any of that evidence. It’s just a massive hole in the middle of nowhere. As if someone stamped it there intentionally.”
Then, the view pans to another witness.
“There was no sound, light, nothing. No shaking or anything like that. I was walking across the street, and next thing you know, a crater’s in my path. Luckily, I caught myself right before I walked into the thing. You know, weird things happen every day. This thing…” The witness chuckles, then shakes his head. “Is something that you can definitely tell your grandkids for a bedtime story.”
The television displays footage of the scene. Civilians and tourists alike are awestruck by the view. Government officials and first responders try to make sense of the mystery while keeping people calm and away from the ditch.
Garfield’s eyes widened.
“Woah…”
The reporter returns to the screen.
“...And that is what the people of Tokyo have to say on tonight’s enigma. We will keep updates on this riddle, and be back tomorrow morning with more. Thank you all, and be safe.”
Garfield’s brain stutters for a moment. His eyes take in more light. He’s quiet within, feeling his emotions stir in his soul. His hands grow clammy, and suddenly, his heartbeat is louder than anything around him.
It was like he found himself unexpectedly on a platform, feeling a train approaching, and realizing that his destination wasn’t for him to choose.
“I can see what caused the crater.”

If you wouldn't mind, for dekaranger. Doggie and Swan, number 3? I am really looking forward to seeing what you end up with as prompts and what you end up writing. I hope you have a lot of fun doing them!
3 is a nose kiss, which seems situationally appropriate for these two.
There's a faint clink behind Swan, and she doesn't even look up from her work, she just says, "I know I shouldn't be up this late, but I'm making progress on these upgrade designs, so I'd appreciate it if you didn't try to make me get some sleep."
"Wouldn't dream of it." Doggie never quite sounds as if he's suppressing laughter, but Swan can hear the signs anyway. She ought to be able to, after so many years. "In fact, I brought you coffee."
"Ohh, now that's an entirely different story." She turns in her chair, accepts the coffee from Doggie--in a broad-based mug that won't tip over, she notes with approval--and then turns back to her sketches. "Anyway," after she's taken a happy sip, "I know just as well that you're not supposed to be up this late either, not after your last heart exam."
There's a slightly guilty silence.
"You were hoping I'd forgotten about that."
"...perhaps a bit, yes."
She takes another sip of coffee and doesn't turn around again, so that he can't see her smile. "I try not to ever forget things like that. So how are the kids? Last I saw they were getting patched up after the firefight."
"They went out for yakiniku together. Tetsu tried to come in here to invite you, but I told him you'd bite him if he interrupted you while you were inventing something." An uncertain pause, and then, "I'll admit, that might have been the wrong thing to tell him, he didn't seem too put off by the idea."
"That boy..." She sighs and then, frowning, realizes that one of the leg panels on this new powered armor design needs to be shifted over. "Damn. Could you hand me the kneaded eraser over there?"
Doggie passes it to her and she sets about fixing the position of the panel, nose wrinkling as she focuses on carefully erasing each line and redrawing them bare millimeters to the left of where they'd been. She can feel him watching, calm gaze on the back of her neck, and it's comforting, knowing that after all these years they can still have silence together. It's something she's always liked about his company.
Once the panel's been redrawn, though, it throws into sharp relief a whole host of other small issues, and she makes a frustrated noise in the back of her throat. "Maybe I am up too late." Another sip of coffee, which is starting to cool a bit, although not unpleasantly. "I feel like I've been looking at this thing for six hours."
"Seven."
"No."
"Seven and a half, really. Nearly eight. Long enough for me to catch Ban sneaking out of Hoji's room for the third time this week when I was getting you the coffee."
She chuckles into the mouth of her coffee mug. "They're young, what else would you expect?"
Doggie lets out a little amused whuff noise. "They're all adults. And we're not so old."
"Speak for yourself." She spins in her chair, drains the last of the coffee, sets aside her mug, smiles up at him. "I am enjoying my descent into stately old-ladydom." He stands and offers his hand, and she takes it and lets him help her up, wincing as one of her knees pops a bit. "Mostly. I'm mostly enjoying it."
Doggie keeps looking down at her. "You still look just like you did when we first met."
Her feathers ruffle a bit, but she just smiles. "And you're still a rascal, you've only gotten better at hiding it." She pulls her hand free of his, reaches up to take his face gently in both hands, and rises up on her toes to kiss him on the side of his nose. "Come on, old man. It's late, and we're not as young as we used to be."

its been 10 days since the movieversary but my CU hyperfixation's still going so heres another one of those Scattered Thoughts posts (minor movie spoilers!)
So i updated the playlist at treehouseblogsinc this week! Idek if Wikplayer still works for most people, but this streak’s five years long and i aint quittin yet! (Usually i just replace song links when they break, but this time i removed a song too cus the guy it references has been Bitch lately)
Speaking of, i did my semi-annual reread of the whole blog too and... man :’’’) Its still mind-blowing how many people played along (and got pissed at Melvin when he took over lmaooo). All the silly, sweet, and angry asks i got there still warm my heart to this day
You know what else i still do to this day? Draw things Pilkey-style! Sometimes i try to follow a rigid anatomy when i draw and feel stuck when it doesnt look right. When that happens, i step back and make a quick Pilk-ish sketch as a reminder to keep things loose. Works every time :)
Something i still love about the movie and the months leading up to it is how much of it felt like a grand... I dont wanna say joke, cus that kinda implies they didnt care when its obvious they truly did. Lets go with prank — it all felt like a grand prank! Like the decisions they made worked in the end, but were also super funny to read and hear about. Like oh my god, they rented Abbey Road Studios to record a choir playing kazoos and singing the word “underpants!” They got the biggest up-and-coming horror director to voice white-ass Melvin Sneedly. (Tho i guess now it can be argued that he’s white-passing in movie!verse, so thats cool)
My fave example of this is how they got Lil Yachty for the album. On one hand, whatever chunk of the limited budget they spent to get him probably could’ve been put to better use, like actually animating the Turbo Toilet fight or something? (While moving the Flip-O-Rama to another scene of course.) On the other hand, its hilarious that they got him to rap the word “cool” 15 times to a cover of Oh Yeah, and then didnt even put it in the movie. Its like George and Harold themselves wrote the stupidest lyrics possible just to see if he’d agree to them, and he did?? Thats comedy gold???
Why didnt i bookmark all the production stuff posted to Instagram. There was so much cool stuff i wanna see again but the search function there is still garbage and uuuughh
So i dont remember if it was production art or fanart but theres this one Instagram post i saw once thats lived in my head ever since. it looked like the cover of Action Comics #1, but with Captain carrying a school bus. If by some miracle somebody has it saved, please send it to me ill be forever in your debt
Im still scared of getting what’s coming to me when the Dog Man movie drops, but now im also wondering if theyll still have George and Harold as a framing device. Ngl i havent caught up with the new books in a hot minute, but ive heard that the boys have stopped appearing in them? if that’s true, that’s Dav’s choice and i have to respect that. ....but also i really wanna see them in CG again. pretty please dreamworks, i miss my sons so much
It mustve been a while since i last watched the movie, cus when i did on the 2nd, the Origin Issue sequence like... broke me all over again. i wrote about why its so great once for a thing that never got made actually, lemme dig that up and paste it in here
The score begins with chiptune and kazoos, two common motifs for childhood whimsy, and already a great fit for this sequence’s simple, handdrawn look. 
But it doesn’t stop there! It goes from what sounds like just two or three people playing kazoos… to a whole chorus of them… which gives way to a full-fledged orchestra. It’s as dramatic a transition as… oh, say, a one-man children’s book to an animated movie by one of the top studios in the industry.
And in turn, as the comic continues, we’re brought closer and closer to the panels until the white gutter between them vanishes, and they engulf the screen. The medium through which this story’s being told has faded from awareness; all that exists now is the story itself. 
But just as suddenly, we’re brought back to our true surroundings. The orchestral music ends, the chiptune returns for one last gentle sting, and we remember this epic tale’s humble origins: a comic book, written and drawn by two 4th graders. *sniff*
Another Score thing i love: you know how Captain is one big Superman parody? I think Shapiro mightve had that in mind when he composed his theme tune, because it starts with a triumphant first three notes (the “Underpaaaaants” part) — just like some of Superman’s! I dont know the right musical terms but cmon, theres a pattern there! And its so touching that they found Captain worthy of a song of that caliber!! Like yes, he IS a true superhero!! heres the epic theme song to prove it!!
Oh wow okay. So to dig up that Writing Thing, i had to open some folders i havent touched in years. And there were outlines for 10 different fanfics in there. I remember not really meaning to finish them ever, just writing them down cus the ideas wouldnt leave me alone. Hell i still dont have time to finish them now
But. Man now i feel bad for never doing anything with them. I have half a mind to post the outlines at least?? Cus someone out there might get a kick out of them?? You know what, if this hyperfixation doesnt peter out in another few days ill probably do it

Behind the scenes for this comic -
This is preeeetty long, so I'll put it under read more.
So as with all the other comics I have done, the process usually is: lay out panels - lineart - adding special effects (which really is just adding gradients, I haven't really figured out using proper comic tones and stuff -)

Sketches for pages 1 and 2! I often used red pencil for basic outlines, just to figure out what goes into which panel, and then a more polished blue sketch I can draw off.
Initially, dark Bedi (lol) had one eye showing but that just made him look like the angry mango Avenger so I decided to show only the mouth instead.

If I'm feeling confident enough, I go straight off my initial sketch, as was with page 3. Here's the comparison between the sketch and a finished lineart!

Page 3 had a few things going for it, like the fact that it had a gradient background and character outlines were in white - which I kind of blunt-forced my way into doing by clipping another layer on top of my lineart and painting that white. So many layers lol. I had separate panels for the blood drip on Altria's chest because I honestly wasn't sure what I was doing lol.
As for Princess Helena's design (again, she's the princess abducted in the story of the Saint Mont-Michel) there's nothing really deep about it. I don't think Fate will ever show what she looks like so I just thought to draw a princess-y outfit, but I ended up kind of liking it.
And man, the fact that Bedivere still remembers Princess Helena and feels guilty over it after all those years, enough to tell Ritsuka about it in his Interlude. I kind of wanted to explore that really, that he feels a lot of guilt for the people he thinks he failed, and naturally, that fear of losing another person he loves extends to Ritsuka. Which leads to imagined fears on the next page.

Page 4 is probably the most complicated page, it took me 3 hours working on the line art for this. The hands around Ritsuka are the Foreign God and Goetia...well, I tried, but Beast I has really detailed hands...
It's a bit confusing to me how much of Chapter 6 the summoned Bedivere actually remembers, because Mash says he probably didn't experience it, but he definitely is aware that he's a Bedivere from a different history - the profile even says he swore loyalty to Ritsuka because they helped him fulfill his wish. So...does he actually remember it or not? From some comments on character materials on the wiki, he acknowledges the Camelot allies, and he finds himself upset at seeing Altria Lancer (which she also comments on in her own materials and I realllllly wish we see this interaction in the game.) He also knows she isn't his King, so he seems to know that they were able to let Goddes Rhongomyiad to rest. On the other hand...Bedivere seems to avoid talking about Camelot in Tristan's Interlude and doesn't seem to acknowledge it in his My Room lines. Which could just be him not wanting to talk about it rather than having forgotten, but couldn't be Fate without some messy lore. Welp. This got long.
Anyway, these four pages are actually the only ones I initially laid out, and the rest is me going rogue and thinking, "Let me add one more page....hm, not concluding enough, one more - and one more -" so the rest of the comic is a bit plain in comparison.
It's a bit of a mind twister figuring out where Ritsuka's side ponytail is every time I draw her. I've drawn Bedi enough times to not be confused where his metal arm is lol.
I also realized midway that it's a little confusing as to what is really happening and half-assed it into Bedivere having his intrusive thoughts while walking with Ritsuka. The first four pages had something going for it which changed in the last six pages, that's me not planning ahead lol.
What else...oh yeah, I initially wrote all dialogue in by hand but my handwriting is atrocious and not really consistent, so I ended up using CSP to insert the text. If you're ever gonna make a comic, don't be like me who lays out all the visuals with only a vague idea of what the dialogue is gonna be and then end up with longer text than expected in place ^^;

Ok but, if love to hear about some of your super heroes someone. Man if you haven't played Stardew Valley in a while you should, they recently updated it and added some cool new stuff. Also I totally get the shibari thing. I don't sketch or draw but I think it's very aesthetically pleasing in a non perverted way and can see how it's be a fun excessive in posing and angles and such, especially with some of the more extravagant artistic shibari. Do you have a PC and what consoles do you have? Sorry to hear that about your friend, I know even if you're growing apart loading a friend can suck really bad.

I so wanna see how the new updates look in Stardew, like there's a new island to explore? And whole new fruits? (My wine aging casks in the cellar are a vital part of my little operation bringing in cash every day so new fruit to make wine with is exciting to me, baha) And yeah, like even being like ten years in on one playthrough there are still so many trophies I want to attempt when I start it up again. Even though some of them depend on being a traitor and siding with Joja mart in a new save.
For consoles have my slightly battered PS4, which has weathered two moves and multiple corrupted data reboots sadly, and may need puttin out to pasture soon 🥲🥲🥲 Im really strapped for cash and the thought of pricing a PS5 or something as a replacement and Im trying to be like hold on old girl just one more 700 meg download of a DLC for me
I also have a Nintendo Switch handheld with, like, two games loaded that my friend James sent me, it's second hand and I do not love the controller drift but I really enjoyed Pokemon Sword and the remaster of Skyward Sword a lot!
And also my GBA, that thing will outlive me and I still have a dozen games for it. First edition, I got it for Xmas 2001, it has followed me my entire adult life.
And yeah, you get it! I truly believe all art has validity to it, even horny art has it's niche as expression.
And man I would love to talk the heroes I created in high school, it's just such a thing that I might be here all night 😅😅😅 It started, oddly enough, with me mimicking cartoons. Idk if like anyone remembers, there was a bad, old Avengers cartoon on Fox in the 90's. (It was. Bad. They all had armor, nonsensically) so starting in middle school, using that as a jumping off point, I created Avengers in Armor ripoffs I called the Detectives. And they were my first real attempt, middle school wise, to do more than just random comics. I took spiral bound notebooks and I just began filling them up. And I was experimenting, tinkering all the time, because creating an experience that was as much as I cojld make it LIKE a comic book, in that it was very crudely drawn anatomically bad figures from a middle schooler. But the formula began taking shape, the notebook pages became stock, nine panel grids and from there I just filled page after page with ongoing adventures of this team.
Now. The Detectives. Sucked. And even in 8th-9th grade, I was losing interest in them because that Avengers show I took the germ of inspiration for their adventures from didnt even last that long, and I was getting into other stuff. Harry Potter. Blade Runner. Toonami cartoons, MUCH better shit than Fox Kids. I began using that and started cranking out more and more heroes.
Killed the Detectives, just wholesale had them wiped out, they sucked.
But I began building a universe of heroes beyond them, starting with a Harry Potter sort of pastiche that I also used as a commentary on high school and he was a little bit okay a lot like me, named Johnny Dreamer. And then other heroes in Johnny's world. And then, another comic, which I brilliantly named Systems Crash, about a dark anti-hero named Downfall (total Deadpool ripoff) and a Supergirl pastiche I based off a friend of mine. And just on and on. The notebooks began bursting with content, and I was riding some fucking lightning pushing these out and not doing any schoolwork. I was creating a little shared universe.
Like I said, I remember it all too well. It's just there doesnt seem to be any getting it back 😅 which makes me sad.
And yeah. Story of my life a bit, friends leave. It never stops being hard, when people who spoke to me every day begin texting less and less and move on with their lives, but it feels like Im just not... worth it? Idk it does make being friends with people hard for me.
So uh.

Okay so here’s the thing. Yes, in-game there are sewers beneath Freeside that you can enter and explore. Yes, as far as dangers go, there are ghouls in parts of the sewer. No, none of these sewer tunnels actually allow you to subvert the Vegas gate via subterranean means, like I very confidently thought they did when I first outlined this volume of IKROAH and scripted this issue probably close to a year ago. Yes, it would have required rewriting the entire outline of Volume 2 to account for this because Agnes would have to get out of Freeside a different way. Yes, I care much more about telling a strong and coherent narrative than I do about what strictly happens in the video game Fallout: New Vegas. Yes, this is very sexy and cool of me.
Everybody give a big round of applause to @tarberrymentats​ for crushing the art again just like they did last December, they’ve been one of my favorite artists since I first ever became a part of this community and it’s been great to become such good friends outside of just the Fallout fandom. I love it so much when I get a guest ink-and-colorist because adhering so close to my pencils creates this really interesting hybrid of our styles that you just don’t get from any other kind of collaboration. It’s an especial honor to have had Halk work on this issue specifically, too; I couldn’t help but get the number one ghoul aficionado to assist with an appearance from of my favorite minor NPCs in the game: Rotface! He was fun to write, and fun to use as a way to show a little bit more of Agnes’ character and history. First that “maniac medic” thing Beth mentioned, now this? What the fuck is her deal? Maybe we’ll finally find out for sure in an issue or two. Maybe.
Also of note: IKROAH has a brand new font! Caveat Brush has been the font for all of the previous issues, but as my lettering has gotten much better and much more attentively professional over time, I started to disagree with it. The new font going forward is “Unmasked” from BlamBot, a possibly generic font that is nevertheless very suited for my purposes here.

It felt really great to draw Agnes again after so long. With this issue primarily just being a conversation, I wanted to make sure the layout was interesting throughout, and conveyed the emotional beats and narrative focus very intentionally. I’ve included the original thumbnail sketches on the pencils for page 5, because that page had so much empty space anyway due to the way it looked in the final product. You can see a few alternate designs for the fifth page among them, such as a more typical-looking page, a dizzying overhead shot, and a close-up of the Lucky 38, but I went with the sort of “tunnel system” layout for Rotface’s dialogue rather than try to stack a bunch of balloons.
You can also see on the fourth page an original sketch for Agnes’ “flashback” panel (to the very first issue of IKROAH) that wound up getting replaced for old art. It just didn’t look good with the whole page around it, and using the old panel from Issue #1 carried a lot more weight. It was still a pretty cool design, though, so I’m glad you can all still see it in the pencils.
And lastly, there’s the final page, which was actually added after I had already scripted and drawn the entire issue. The issue originally ended just with Agnes walking away, but it felt like it was missing something, and this extra coda with Agnes and Cass entering the sewers was a much better final note. I just want to say, going into this issue, it was probably my least favorite that I had scripted just because it felt far too purely functional as a matter of getting Agnes from Point A to Point B. But it went through many dialogue revisions, especially during the process of lettering it after it was already drawn, that kept the same idea while adding much more emotional depth, and now I’m instead very fond of this issue and what it does for Agnes’ character.

EXT. FREESIDE, a street corner. A ghoul known as ROTFACE sits on the sidewalk against the building of a pre-war water filter installation business.
Suddenly, over him, is:
AGNES: Is this seat taken?
ROTFACE: It is if you’re asking, ugly. Take a hike. Unless you maybe care to spare a cigarette.
AGNES SANDS sits down next to the ghoul.
AGNES (sitting down): Thanks, Zeke.
ROTFACE: Don’t mention it. How’re you doing, Agnes? S’been a while.
AGNES: Yeah, I was, uh…shot in the head.
ROTFACE: You’re fine other than that though, right?
AGNES (weakly smiling): Yeah. Yeah, just peachy.
ROTFACE: Y’know, I heard you were back in town—well, figured, because what I heard specifically was that you killed Dixon.
AGNES (removing two cigarettes from a box): Oh. Well…there was, uh, well, it was this whole thing with the Followers*—
CAP: *Last ish. -Lou
ROTFACE: Oh, I’m well aware, ha ha. Grecks said he could hear Dr. Farkas chewing you out from four blocks away.
AGNES (handing cigarette to Rotface): Zeke, I really don’t want to talk about it.
ROTFACE: Alright, sorry. Tough break, Ag. I mean it.
AGNES: Um…nice hat, by the way.
ROTFACE: Aw, thanks! You think so? Cost a lotta caps, but man, worth it. Really brings out my eyes.
AGNES: Wait—where’d you get the money?
ROTFACE: Just because I’m a beggar doesn’t mean I can’t save up for stuff. something nice every once in a while. And last time I really got anything nice for myself was that steak I had after top surgery. Besides, this is more of a long term investment. I spend my caps on food, that’s gone as soon as I eat it, right? But this hat? Bought it three weeks ago.
AGNES: I worry about you…please don’t buy hats instead of food.
ROTFACE: Bury me in it, then. If you worry so much, why don’t you buy me something to eat?
AGNES: I would, Zeke, but…I can’t. I literally can’t. I’m broke.
ROTFACE: Get your own corner to beg on, then.
AGNES: I’m serious, Zeke, come on. I’m only here at all because I need to get on the Strip.
ROTFACE: For business or pleasure?
AGNES: Uh…no, it’s…I…I…
A memory of blinding light from the barrel of a pistol, a gunshot, and then the silence and darkness of the grave.
AGNES: There’s someone I’ve been trying to find.
AGNES: But I blew the last caps I had here just trying to scrounge enough for the gate.
AGNES: ...I’m worried I’ve really fucked up.
ROTFACE frowns sympathetically.
ROTFACE: Y’knooow, I heard that security has been kind of lax at Mick and Ralph’s lately—
AGNES: No. I’m not going to steal it, Zeke. And not from them.
ROTFACE: Not gonna steal from Dixon either, or did you at least loot his corpse?
AGNES glares fiercely at ROTFACE.
ROTFACE: …eheh. Sorry.
ROTFACE: Well…alright, fair. I'd be a bad friend to make you go back to that shit, anyway. So let me be a good friend. Maybe I can get you onto the Strip.
AGNES is stunned. She leans toward ROTFACE urgently.
AGNES: You’ve got enough cash for the gate check!?
ROTFACE: Ha! Good one. If I did then I sure as hell still wouldn’t be in Freeside. No, what I do got for you is a damn good tip: you want to go in? Go under. But it’s dangerous.
ROTFACE: What you do is pry open the manhole on east Fremont and take the old sewer tunnels. It's gonna be miles of maze-like bullshit, sure, but all the pre-war stuff's still connected. The first ladder you're gonna want goes up behind the Ultra-Luxe, I think. Squatters used to sneak onto the Strip this way sometimes, but it's been a while, might be sealed off by now…might be. I'm not sure. That's not why they stopped.
ROTFACE: No…that'd be because of the ghouls. And not the kind capable of a pleasant conversation like moi.
AGNES: Huh. If it is sealed, would you know with what?
ROTFACE: Probably nothing that you couldn't pick apart in your sleep. Shit's gotta flow somewhere, and sewers need maintenance, so it shouldn't be all tombed up with concrete like what Mr. House did to that one vault hotel.
ROTFACE: But yeah, that's it. Fuck the gate check. Get a little messy, or just a whole lot lucky—and Agnes Sands is on the Vegas Strip for free.
ROTFACE: Really gotta watch those ghouls, though. Get caught, and you may not spend any money, but it still might cost an arm and a leg. Know what I mean?
AGNES: Thanks. It’s, uh…at least I know what to expect.*
CAP: Wouldn’t be the first time. See IKROAH #11. -Lou
ROTFACE: No problem, friend. And I’ll sell my hat for a nice grassy plot if you don’t come back.
AGNES (standing up): You really mean that?
ROTFACE: Hell no. You’ve told me before that you’d want to get cremated, anyway. Now scram, I don’t need deadbeat beggars like you hogging my corner.
AGNES (walking away): Thanks, Zeke. I’ll be seeing you.
ROTFACE (waving goodbye): Aw, don’t mention it, Agnes. And best of luck to you in Vegas!
EXT. ELSEWHERE IN FREESIDE.
AGNES walks a few blocks to reconvene with ROSE OF SHARON CASSIDY, and they share a few words before they continue walking together.
ROTFACE (cont.): I always wanted to go and try the machines. Y’know, slots…but if I was a good gambler then I probably wouldn't be a beggar, ha ha.
EXT. ELSEWHERE STILL, EAST FREMONT STREET.
AGNES and CASS approach a sewer lid over a manhole in the middle of the dilapidated street.
ROTFACE (cont): There's always some kind of system in place that just makes sure you lose anyway, right?
CASS casts a nervous glance toward AGNES.
ROTFACE (cont): So it’d probably be a bad idea no matter what.
AGNES returns the look impassively.
ROTFACE (cont.): There’s an old saying like that, I think, but...gun to my head, I can’t remember how the whole thing goes…
The manhole lid is off, and AGNES and CASS are gone.

Can you please talk more about your very cool valerie and cujo concept ? Because honestly that's such a big brain take. I almost always see danny having cujo as a companion but never valerie. Is she going to ride cujo into battles instead of using the hoverboard ?

in the reboot valerie has actually been fighting ghosts for a WHILE now. actually the audience finds out at the same time danny finds out-- when hes miles high in the sky going after a ghost and this RANDO comes outta nowhere. hold on i have some super rough sketches i did the other day for these bits

the "red huntress" is, according to her, Amity Parks *ONLY* ghost-busting superhero, and amity doesn't need another one;

at school of course danny is complaining about this rando getting on his case (he has no idea who she is) and hes rambling and yelling like "who does she think she IS??? i'm the SUPERHERO AROUND HERE" and sam just blankfacedly goes "dude, shes been superheroing for longer than you." tucker/sam pull up an article on valerie and her stunts from a while ago (altho shes of course just a "mysterious figure" and is more often than not cited as a cryptid, because at this point in the story ghosts are still largely a superstition in amity park) (to elaborate a little, my amity park isnt haunted primarily because of the fenton portal, but it just happens to be a ghost hotspot; val has been fending off ghosts for a couple years now)

at the same time theres also parallels between val/danny regarding the superheroing thing, eg val's dad would think its a waste of her time or too dangerous, etc. the above panel isnt like a final concept but i think it would be rly neat/funny if val also had a friend or two who was the sam/tucker to her secret identity (cant have it be paulina or dash tho bc reasons)

val has had cujo since before he was a ghost he is just a very excitable lil pubby and she loves him very much
BASICALLY wulf (who is more of a typical wolf/dog and way more malicious) opened up a portal directly ON cujo a couple years ago as an attack

but because of how danny phantom rules are, this turned cujo into a halfa instead of outright killing him. this whole Incident(TM) of course gave val an anti-ghost vendetta in 0 seconds flat and now shes got it out for every ghost in amity, wulf especially. after getting over the terror that is your puppy now being able to shapeshift into a MASSIVE GLOWING GREEN DOG, she learned how to train cujo to use his ghostly abilities to their advantage so they can protect amity park better! in ‘normal form’ cujo still looks like a completely average dog (and has more difficulty flying etc without specific commands) so its not really suspicious
valerie hand-made everything else she uses to fight ghosts, including the costume and whatever weapons she has (I still haven’t decided on a signature weapon)-- no hoverboard at all (yet. seasons progress), instead, yes, she rides Cujo into battle! with a few whistles/commands she can have him fly, turn intangible, etc, helping them stay in pursuit of anything that dares attack amity park
i really wanted to keep cujo tied with valerie bc it felt weird to me that he was only used in getting val her powers and then just. didnt come up again (i know the afterlife “moving on” bit was implied but. youd think val would at least adopt a dog later or something). and i also really wanted to cut out vlad giving val her stuff and instead give her her own agency- she is a black belt, after all. so this is the final concept, and man am i pleased w it :)
she still hates danny and they end up being like absolute rivals and she doesnt trust a ghost as far as she can throw it but it becomes more of a bickering-over-how-to-save-the-day one than her directly trying to kill him (until he fucks up, majorly, and even then danny also gets on HER nerves intentionally because, hello, he’s the GHOST EXPERT here). and of course of course the ending of the red huntress DEBUT episode is 100% them having to set aside their differences and work together to defeat Wulf and his owner
