The saddest thing of all happened. Merlin, the family dog, passed away. All the girls, from the oldest to the littlest, felt a heavy sadness in their hearts. But they also knew that Merlin would always have a special place in their hearts.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but Acau's cat, the real life Chunsik, has sadly passed away due to pneumonia that had been misdiagnosed as an eye disease :(

He is gone but he had such a happy day leading up to it. He wasn't in pain, just exhausted and ready to sleep but still happy.

Tzapo was truly such a good good boy and managed to get so much love from so many different people. He did so many things and his life was so big. He saw the redwoods and got to go to a bison ranch. He got to see and smell all the horses at the Kentucky Horse Farm. He loved watching horses gallop. He got to go to wildlife centers and zoos, including the National Zoo in DC, and get to scent so many animals he'd never otherwise get to experience. He stayed in hostels and hiked in several states. He went into caverns with me and he got to cross fields of lava rock in Eastern Oregon, which he was so brave and excited to do. He has had a good life and been the best friend to me. I'm so glad I could give him an end where he was still so happy and able to do his favorite things without pain or confusion. He was the best service dog and friend I could have ever asked for. And now he can rest and be comfortable forever.

My kitty passed away sometime last night. My kiddo found her this morning. We're all pretty devastated. She was a whiney, needy baby who would climb on your shoulder to demand affection, and i loved her a lot. For 17 years, she was my cuddle buddy, and I miss her so much already.

She didn't really like having her picture taken, so here she is sleeping on my foot a few days ago.

Our dog passed away. I drove to the vet hospital this morning and was able to be there and hold her when it happened, and she was comfortable and knew me at the end.

So on the bright side, we were finally able to secure an appointment with the specialist neurologist for Elijah.

Unfortunately, it was too late. He started deteriorating quickly two weeks ago ---he started having periods where his limbs just wouldn't respond. They were completely stiff, as was his neck. He was immobile. His vet was baffled. We tried a few new medications, basically throwing everything we had at it.

it seemed to help at first. The attacks went away for a few days but then came back. They'd go away and come back again. The time between attacks became shorter and shorter. Today we made the decision to let him go. Whatever was wrong with him was getting worse and, even if we got answers from the neurologist, we felt it wouldn't help him. Keeping him alive only to sate our curiosity was unfair to him.

Hopefully he'll have better luck on the next go around and, if I'm lucky, I'll see him again.
