The reason I posted so little art here in November was because I've been writing (and since I work full time now I have to choose between art and fic. Rude), but the reason I posted so little art here in October is because I was working on this! There was a fantasy event recently in my little town with a drawing contest, and I participated. (I didn't win anything - wasn't even in the top 3 - because turns out the other contestants were teenagers and their mothers shared the contest polls on Facebook and got their friends and families to vote. Eh, it happens.)
Anyway, here's my very first session of DnD :D Antinua the half-elven mage, Malva the middle-aged halfling bard (that's me ^^), Trygon the tiefling rogue and Grumpf the half-orc monk were beset by kobolds! ...and almost TPKed because we are level 2s and not a cohesive group yet XD So yeah, the encounter wasn't nearly as epic as this drawing makes it look. But isn't my job as a bard to tell our tale well, even if it gets a little embellished along the way? ;o)

GUYS. I've been DMing for a grand total of 6 sessions for one PC (the Best Beloved's half-orc barbarian Ushnar) but today's session was at my DM's (who runs the campaign I play my halfling bard Malva for), with him, his 25 year old daughter (who's a sweetheart) and the Best Beloved and -
Look, on one hand it was stressful because I've been preparing for weeks, making a dungeon, organising encounters, trying to gauge the difficulty levels and the number of zombies/skeletons, plotting the betrayal of the mage NPC who hired Ushnar and sidekick/NPC Mélodie du Ruisseau* to save his master (actually distract him to steal his grimoire!)... (*Tabaxi names are often "of [something]", and the word "ruisseau" can mean both a stream/brook or the gutter - fitting for a former urchin!)
Oh, I probably made mistakes, there's a couple of concentration checks I forgot to track, but it was SO FUN 😀 We played all day! My DM and his wife had made pizzas, daughter a cake, and we'd brought juices and sodas and we had a blast. I made sure the players had fun, I did voices (zombies and skeletons are so fun, guys), I Yes Anded the hell out of things (the cleric's Turn Undead frightened off my three skeletons and one zombie, they all spent at least one turn hitting the wall like video game glitches, it was hilarious!!)... and after the battle the PCs realised the mage had managed to get away with his master's grimoire, so that's one enemy that'll most likely pop up again one day :D
You know what, tough? I'm really proud, because everyone had a great time, and my DM not only really loved the initiative rolls + paper character tents over the DM screen (and plans to use it for our next sessions), but also congratulated my DMing several times and at some point in the game told the Best Beloved that my halfling bard's inspirations were awesome and made them laugh a lot!! I was just Red in the face and grinning from ear to ear 😊
Now it's midnight and I'm already searching for ideas for the next arc, because it looks like I levelled up from DM of one to DM of three ^^

I’d like some headcanons for Raine with a s/o who loves to bake
i audibly gasped when i saw this ask. as someone who bakes a ton (so much that it's my url), this is right up my alley. thanks so much for suggesting!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
i'm going to say this only once: please let raine stay in the kitchen and watch you while you bake.
it's hard for them to leave your side in the first place, but here? they are absolutely mesmerized by the way things are run, in awe of how you seem to glide around the room once you get into gear.
as a bard themself, raine knows this passion for craft well, so deep-rooted that it's an instinct, fervor guiding every action to add and compliment what already exists.
the kitchen is your stage; its tools are your instruments. they wouldn't dream of stopping your performance, which is exactly why you have to put things on hold for a beat.
"help me whisk, please?" "i wouldn't be getting in your way...would i?" "if you can mix your music, you can mix these dry ingredients."
raine decides that it's not worth contesting the musical and magical factuality of your statement with how eager they are to help out. on the inside, they are celebrating so hard.
several minutes later, you're wondering how exactly your partner managed to spill half the contents out of their mixing bowl.
"i think i mixed too hard." "you...could say that."
the best way to learn is to experience, and there's no other way to experience than to get hands-on. raine will be your sous-chef for the rest of eternity, whether you like it or not.
they love to study your recipes and ask questions. you realize that their restlessness stems from uncertainty as you guide their faltering hand through folding muffin batter.
so, you'll let them know all there is to know; you wash away raine's concerns with your patience, kindness, and laughter. they're so thankful to know that you're with them every step of the way.
just note that they show none of this loyalty when they take you by surprise and smear some extra flour on your nose. in other circumstances, both parties would be calling for a food fight.
however, you two have been way too invested in getting this recipe for zelnik right and cannot bear the thought of your pie-baby falling from the counter onto the floor. that happened with the malva pudding two months ago and-
"raine, i swear that was a mistake." "sure." "you will never let me live that down."
you settle for swiping some flour onto their forehead to get back at them. expect trash talk in the future when you finally declare that it's time for a bake-off. raine will not be winning as long as you’re here.
but you two don't skip out on your soft moments. when i say that raine whispers is a sucker for lazy domestic homelife mornings, i truly mean it.
if you ever start a recipe before they rise on the weekend, chances are that they'll be tucked in until it's time to bake your treats. the smell of sugar caramelizing is enough to coax raine out of bed.
"what are you making? it smells delicious." "ensaymada! could you-" "i'll get the coffee started, don't worry."
it's all tired smiles and cheeky pecks from there on out. raine will most definitely give you a hug from behind as soon as the opportunity presents itself.
if it never does? they'll literally tell you to stop facing them, turn around, and prepare for the longest minutes of your life.
don't even get me started on slow dancing. raine uses their magic to enchant their viola and the piano in the other room to play a soft symphony once the sweet bread goes into the oven.
you waltz in the middle of the kitchen, enveloped in each others arms. the whole world just seems to fade away with every step.
i sure hope your breakfast doesn't burn while you two are busy.

🎲 for as many as you'd like to answer for <33
Thank you Fable! I want to answer for a bunch of characters so I'm not going to do art for these bc it would take forever ;<;
🎲 If your OC played a pen and paper RPG, what class would they pick?
Okay so!! Choosing based on the 14 base D&D classes...
Amelie: Cleric (quintessential healer, generally a pacifist) Silky: Bard (charismatic, energetic, somehow gets in and out of trouble in equal measure) Seraphina: Wizard (magic based on tactical planning ahead) Bia: Monk (unarmed combat appeals to her most) Astrid: Sorcerer (innate magic that is powerful and volatile) Malva: Paladin (protector based on personal code of conduct, high strength, charisma, wisdom) Rain: Druid (shapeshifting and nature affinity) The Shadowlily: Rogue (stealth, underhanded tactics)

DUDE YOUVE WATCHED THE OWL HOUSE?? IVE BEEN OBSESSED WITH THAT SHOW SINCE MY FRIEND FORCED ME TO WATCH THE GROM FIGHT
I actually wanted to explain all the covens and wild witches to you but I felt it would be to much so I just opted for something similar, which was Harry Potter
But yeah, Belos!Diantha 👀👀 Would that mean Iris or Hau is The Golden Guard/Hunter?
Which covens are everyone in? Is anyone a wild witch? And what about after Belos is overthrown and people are allowed to specialize in more than one magic?
OH SHIT ARE THE CHAMPIONS THE COVEN HEADS??
SCREAMING CRYING THROWING UP YOU KNOW THE OWL HOUSE TOO OMFS THIS GOT ME EXCITED CNMXNDMD HAHAHAHA
Omf okay so so cjdmdbdj
Ough idk like,,,, the thought of Diantha being like Belos is sooooo jdmxbjd like damn, villain Diantha is just soooooo🥴🤭 you get me?? Just the most manipulative piece of shit to walk the earth and the Boiling Isles ncmdbd
Augustine is the Golden Guard in this ofc ouo, but like, in this au, he wasn't like,, as young as Hunter, an adult yknow but like around his 20s at most, and he's not even the original Augustine bc yeah, he's a Grimwalker like Hunter. The real Augustine has been dead for so long, and that was the reason for Diantha's hatred towards humans (yeah it's the opposite in this au)
But anyways, in my lil toh au, Iris is like Luz, the Unova kids are her friends in the Boiling Isles, so ofc Bianca is Amity– hahahah
Drayden is Eda and Axew is King, and they're a family your honour, but ofc Drayden knows the dangers of Iris being in the Boiling Isles, as their empress, Diantha, fucking hates humans and all the humans who got to the Boiling Isles back then were executed by the empress. Ofc that didn't calm Iris down at all, and she lost the portal back to the human world, so she's kinda stuck there until she can make another portal
And like,,, idk,,, maybe Iris did get caught and Drayden payed the price, but Iris up and saved him too, like in that one episode of toh hahah and just jcmdnd oughhhh Diantha and Iris fight😭😭
Do you see my vision tho cbdmnd ough low-key deranged Diantha but she's just so fucking calm most of the time, and like Belos I wanna say she was kinda cursed too, bc she was so desperate to bring Augustine back that she tried everything, only for those spells and glyphs to take a huge toll on both her mind and body. Until ofc, she found out abt grimwalkers, and she failed, a lot of times, time and time and time again she watched her brother die over and over and over again, until the most recent one, the one Iris and her friends encountered, he was perfect. Of all the grimwalkers, he looked just like you, Augustine. So of course, I named him after you.
BUT YEAH CHAMPIONS AS COVEN HEADS CJMDBCMD and maybe the Kalos E4 too hahahah
So we have (excluding the Emperor's/Empress' Coven ofc)
Lance - Abomination
Steven - Construction
Wallace - Bard
Cynthia - Potions
Hau - Healing
Leon - Beast Keeping
Geeta - Oracle
Malva - Illusionist
Siebold - Plant
I added in Malva and Siebold bc why not, I wanna say they're also Dia's childhood friends in this and were the ones to help her find out abt the grimwalkers to bring Augustine back
As for the Unova kids
Iris - Beast Keeping, Oracle
Hilbert - Construction, Beast Keeping
Hilda - Potions, Abomination
Bianca - Healing, Plant
Cheren - Oracle, Illusionist, Abomination
N - Abomination, Illusionist, Beast Keeping
While writing that tho I had another thought like imagine cbmdnd imagine if Diantha and Augustine were raised by a human, Drasna way back then. Drasna was the first human to ever visit the Boiling Isles and ofc Diantha found her and looked up to her and just jcmdnd ough Drasna raising Augustine and Dia, she was even the one to figure out abt the glyphs and taught the kids that. Then smth happened, another human found the portal to the Boiling Isles, his name was Lysandre, Augustine loved him. The two became close and hey it was going so well yknow, until Lysandre betrayed them.
He killed off Augustine, going on how a witch— a demon— shouldn't even exist, and then killed Drasna for betraying her kind. Diantha went home that day w Lysandre all bloodied while setting fire on Drasna's body, Augustine was lying lifeless on the floor. In her rage, Diantha attacked him, killing him too, promising herself that no more will humans torment them, no more will humans be welcome within the Boiling Isle, she promised herself she'll kill them all if she has to.
And god that really fucked her up yknow, bc Drasna was human, but in her mind Drasna wasn't like the rest, she was good, she was kind, treated them like they were her own children, but maybe.. Drasna was treated differently by the rest of the humans too. And that thought pissed Diantha off. So hey, she collected Drasna's ashes, still within the castle, within a secret chamber, somewhere no one would find. Drasna is safe, that's all that matters to her. Augustine tho... She knows she can fix him. She'll get her brother back, and she did. And she promised herself nothing would happen to him again.
Now imagine her being so dead set on killing Iris, that fear and paranoia never left Diantha, and seeing Iris again triggered that fear again, triggered that hatred, seeing Iris being close to witches, acting all friendly, it reminded her so much of Lysandre. So she decided, she'll make the portal herself, she'll kill everyone in the human world, she'll make sure every human would feel the same pain she felt when they took everything from her. And she's going to start with Iris.

Siblings: 2: Mabel, Paeter
Age: 25
Fighting preference: Sword and shield, two-handed war hammer
Personality: Serious, loyal, introvert, traditional
Excerpt:
As they passed through the gates, the crowd of people on the other side erupted into cheers. White flower petals rained down on them from the branches above. The intricate lamps that lined the streets were lit with white fire. Danies placed a hand on Isir’dalen’s flank as they paraded down the streets. Out in the crowd, people cheered his name, waving blue and silver flags. The guards that fell in line behind them bore the royal family seal; a silver, prancing stag on a blue banner.
Even with the sun rising up over the canopy, the city below was bathed in semi-twilight. Werelights and lanterns hung from the trunks of trees and wooden arches overgrown with white roses. To the untrained eye, there was little in the way of buildings. Only the lights coming through windows carved into the trunks of the trees gave any indication that there were buildings and houses of any kind.
The longer Danies looked around, more buildings began to take shape. A cluster of three trees fused at the base formed the structure of a multi-layered house. Banners bearing the crest of the family that resided within hung on either side of the almost invisible doorway. Almost every tree in sight hid a different building, each as unique as the giant it was carved from.
The canopy above housed a massive web of walkways and wooden bridges. He could see more elves up above them, hanging from the railings, their legs dangling from the walkway as they watched the parade pass by. More rose petals rained down on them, tossed out by eager hands of both children and adults alike. The smell of food cooking over fires wafted through the air. A mix of voices singing floated over the cheers of the crowd.
Something smells good, Isirdalen said as she sniffed the air. She swished her tail. I hope they made something for me.
Danies chuckled. “I’m sure they did. It would be foolish to have a feast with a dragon present and not provide her with an adequate meal.”
True, She rumbled, pleased by the thought.
Another wall of trees rose up before them, though not as tall as those at the docks. From the walkways above, more flags were hung, waving lazily in the light mountain breeze. Soldiers stood stiff and still in their positions, saluting them as they passed by. The castle gates were already open for them. The chaos of the crowd faded into silence as they passed through the gates. With a soft clank, the gates closed behind them.
A small river cut a line through the forest, following the curve of the wall out of sight. A bridge arched over the gurgling stream. On the other side, four massive trees formed the structure of the family castle, towering far above the surrounding forest. An elegant archway split the first two trees, one of only two entrances to the otherwise impenetrable castle.
“Now there’s a sight for sore eyes,” Danies said.
Your family lives in a tree? Isir’dalen snorted in amusement. Such strange creatures you are.
“Just wait ‘till you see the inside.”
Waiting for them in the entryway was his uncle. The old king stood proudly at the head of his group of advisors, head held high as he watched them approach. When at last they drew nearer, he stepped out to greet them, the voluminous sleeves of his silver tunic flapping about.
“Danies, my boy! Look at the size of you!” His uncle exclaimed. “What are those dragon riders feeding you over in the Isles?”
Danies laughed as he embraced his uncle. “A great deal of fish and rice, mostly. I’m more than eager to have a taste of home cooking again. You can only handle so much seafood before you crave real meat.”
The king laughed heartily as he slapped Danies on the back. With an enthusiastic flurry, he bowed before Isir’dalen. Danies had to bite back a snort as he felt the pride and satisfaction emanating from his dragon at the recognition. “You’ve done some growing yourself, O great dragon. Last I saw you, you were but a hatchling. Look at how fierce and proud you stand now! The bards will sing songs of your beauty and grace for years to come, I’m sure.”
I like him, Isir’dalen said. I like him very much, I think.
“Don’t fill her head with such things, Uncle. Dragon’s are terribly prideful,” Danies said. “It’ll go straight to her head.”
“And why shouldn’t I?” His uncle regarded the dragon with another cheeky wink and a smile. “With her proud lineage, what dragon wouldn’t be a bit conceited? Not many can claim they carry Titan blood in their veins.”
He’s right, you know, Isir’dalen shuffled her wings as she lowered her head and blew a soft puff of air on the king’s brow. I greet you kindly, King Malvas. It is an honor to enter your halls again.
A giddy smile broke out across the king’s face as he drank in her words. Danies rolled his eyes. Nothing seemed to make his uncle quite as excited as dragons. Before the king could say another word, his mother placed a gentle hand on Malvas’ shoulder to guide him into the castle proper.
“Your nephew and his dragon have had a very long flight here. Let us not keep him or his dragon on their feet any longer than necessary, your grace,” His mother said gently.
“Of course!” The king followed her lead. “Lunch is being served in the gardens so the dragon may join us. I had the hunters track down a boar just for you, Isir’dalen. I hope it will be to your liking.”
The dragon’s ruby red tongue flicked out of her mouth briefly as she rumbled in approval. I’ve not yet gotten to taste mountain boar. I relish the thought of such a treat.
The comment seemed to please the old king greatly.

Paimyn Weyere
@persephoneanmystery
(Oh man… Where doing this man, where making it HAPPEN! Last duo, starting with the last Beforan troll. Like always, I feel like he’s really shallow, but I feel your thoughts will help steer me down into the blue depths of his character.)
Universe: Beforus!
Name: Paimyn Weyere
“Paimyn” is a corruption of “Paimon”, one of the demons of the Ars Goetia, much like Malvas and Malphas. Paimon is the demon closest to Lucifer, a reference that this guy is the one with the actual dedication to Parisa. “Weyere” is a corruption of “Johann Weyer”, the man who wrote Pseudomonarchia Daemonum, one of the bigger sources for the Ars Goetia.
A fun note about Paimon is that he is also traditionally found in a trifecta of kings, of which he is the Leader. Which we can potentially do some fun character stuff with. It’s also speculated in Goetic texts that prior to the fall he was a Dominion, the secretive regulator and boss class of the lesser angels. So I love… all of that.
Now I’ve noticed that along with the Weyere name and his lusus, you have some monstery/occult stuff like, touched on in his character but you don’t go Into It. So I’m not going to change the name Weyere, but I am going to insist on more demonology content to his character with a name like that.
Age: Roughly 7 Sweeps
Theme/Story: Paimyn’s whole life has been trying to keep people from doing stupid things. A critic, publicist, and safety inspector rolled up into one, Paimyn specializes in the deeds (and reputations) of the rich and famous. The problem is that none of them ever listen to his advice, and just continue to do things that are either going to get themselves killed, or ruin their reputations! Life is just one rolling headache after another.
Strife Specibus: Chainkind
Paimyn’s the kind of person who likes to fight from a distance, but not an uncomfortable distance. Chains and hooks are a good way of pulling someone in, and keeping them there… (I debated “Signkind” as in “a sign with the word NO in red” but that seemed too silly).
Paimyn:
Tumblr media
I do love the idea of him using a like, Roadhog style hook-and-chain combo, though. Get Over Here, he says, to his idiot clients who he’s trying to stop from being idiots.
Fetch Modus: Lasso
In order to try and get an item out of his modus, Paimyn has to literally lasso it out of the air, otherwise risking a crash and the item breaking. Paimyn’s always been good at grabbing things in tense situations, though.
This is neat for his tendency to operate well under pressure, but if we want to go with a like… a character who’s so themed on rigorous lack of options, maybe a Schedule modus would be better? Where he has to actually plan ahead of time when he wants to utilize items and isn’t allowed to take the item out a second sooner.
Blood color: Indigo
Paimyn isn’t what one would call “fun to be around”, despite the Indigo stereotype. This is partially because of his very Indigo special interest- in his case being limits, boundaries, and safety. This creates a very odd set of contradictions. Paimyn’s at once someone obsessed with keeping things under control, keeping things contained and safe, who’s blood forces and pushes him to be expansive, forceful, rampant.
Symbol and meaning:
Tumblr media
SAGIBORN, THE RAMPANT
Trolltag: [TC] terrorizingCacodoxy
“Cacodoxy” is literally “wrong doctrine or opinion”, but I like to think that it basically means “the discourse”. Paimyn’s speciality is getting famous people to not, like, start discourse and feuds on twitter, via forms of terror usually.
Quirk: [I’m struggling here. I debating inverting W’s and M’s but… is that readable??? Who knows.]
You could do a good ol fashioned m= mn, n= nm. To reflect the triple bumps in your symbol!
Ex: The brownm fox jumnped.
Special Abilities (if any): Indigo’s are rather strong, and Paimyn’s no exception. He’s had to physically hold back one too many violetbloods in shoe stores for his upper arms to not have some kind of muscle.
Adore That. Of special note also is that Paimon is known to be like, really pretty. That’s not an ability but I wanted to say it here because he’s known to be like REALLY pretty.
Lusus: Paimyn doesn’t like to talk about his Lusus, who he keeps locking in a closet much of the time, especially when he has clients over. The thing with arms much too long doesn’t look so dashing in the suit that Paimyn has forced him to wear. It hungers and hungers, and Paimyn doesn’t know how long he can keep it contained.
God having a slenderman lusus is like Fun. I wonder if it stole him away when he was young? Like, he had a normal lusus and then this thing showed up and grabbed him and made off with him. In bringing on some more Rage Fun and also tying in some slenderman mythology, maybe being around this Slenderdad brings on a rapid onset of paranoia? Paimyn could have some psychic resistance to it, but lowbloods could be easily reduced to panic by a mere glimpse.
Interests: Control, Safety Regulations, Social Media (And the ways it destroys lives),Well Tailored Suits, The Latest Trend and Why It’s Bad, Politeness and Social Grace,
Like I said above, I definitely want to tie in just a liiittle occult interest here. It could be something as small as liking creepypastas, or it could be a deeper interest in the occult. Maybe he identifies a lot with those creepypasta stories about the monsters boiling inside people just beneath the surface, being taken over by someone else, etc. But it’s also some stupid scary indulgence, exploring risks in a controlled and measured way that jives well with his Regulatory Energies.
Since he’s so interested in control and image, he could also be fond of photoshop and image editing in general? I actually like that a lot, since Parisa and Malvas are both also the finnicky sort about their respective things. And the whole image editing thing could be a point of contention between Paimyn and Malvas (well, one of the many, many, many points of contention that exist) since Malvas is so particular about his videos and Paimyn is so particular about the perfect image. Butting heads artistically, constantly, all the time, just neverendingly….
Appearance: Possibly due to his monstrous lusus, Paimyn has a case of what he terms “scary eyes”, that have developed color much earlier than they otherwise should of. As a highblood already (he shudders at the possibility of being culled to Purple), he hides them underneath dark sunglasses, even at night. He keeps his hair impeccable and short, a classic Men’s Regular. Equally refined and perfect are the suits he wears, either black or a dark blue akin to his blood color. He knows he’s highblood, and he likes to flaunt it a little.
Personality: Paimyn struggles between wanting to be perfect and actually achieving perfection. A lawful and orderly figure, Paimyn tries to enforce those traits on everyone he knows, for better or worse. The fact that he surrounds himself with some of the most powerful chaotic energy on Beforus might be audacious or a form of self harm, depending on who you ask. He possesses a temper that can turn from tepid to boiling at the drop of a hat that he desperately tries to keep under control. Most of his friends would describe him as “wise” or “disciplined”, though how sincere they are depends on when his last flipout was.
Paimyn has a lot of things to balance in his life, from his style to his lusus without adding anyone else. But he’s a control freak, and doesn’t like anything in his sphere of influence to go unchecked and unordered. Clutter and emotionality are banal to him, and yet he is surrounded by both, in the forms of materialism and utter banality. On a deeper level, there’s a lot of feeling like a monster under Paimyn’s layers of perfect decorum, for reasons he can’t always explain. Having a Lusus that’s a joke nod to Slenderman might do that to you.
I for sure love all of this. I hope part of it is that… rageiness. Because what he has of rage right now is the limiting of potential, but what he Doesn’t have is that very rage-like “tear the whole world down and fuck the aftermath” attitude. In fact, he seems very opposed to that. He seems so strictly controlled. Instead of swinging in the direction his aspect wants him to, he’s utilizing his limiters and his explosiveness in the wrong way. So a bit of that feeling like a monster could be this bubbling overwhelming urge to Break. Fuck The Rules. Fuck The Reputations. Fuck It All. But that’s bad business, so he’s got to swallow it and deal with the boiling rage.
Title: Maid of Rage
Active Classes That Remain: Maid
Passive Classes That Remain:
Paimyn’s a Maid somewhere in the mid-stages of his development. He no longer fears his own Aspect, the Restraining Devil of Rage, but he’s having trouble incorporating it and owning it. Rage manifests in a lot of his behaviors, such as his obsession with safety, and safe ideas such as classic speech and timeless fashion. In a manner of speaking, he creates a lack of options in presenting himself, and aims to create a similar level of restriction in those who see him and envy his perfect life, his perfect house and his infuriatingly perfect haircut.
Maid inverts to Bard, and as an editor and self-proclaimed safety inspector, Paimyn actively restricts and passively destroys choice in those around him. He’s trying to use it for good (nobody’s arguing against guardrails, you see) but parts of him come off as spiteful.
Keeping his lusus locked away is an externalized symbol of his own issues as a Maid with Rage: he’s angry, he’s critical, he’s a downer, and he’s like that specifically because he’s locking away theoretically good parts of himself in the name of being safe and ineffable.
I’ve got nothing to comment on here excepting saying Yep Good. Yep Really Good!
Land: The Land of Rust and Junk
Paimyn crushes old metal into dust as he walks out onto the desolate surface of his Land. Everything about his insults him to his core. These pieces left to rust and to rot, they should never have come to this point. An overzealous creator keeps making half-finished inventions and chucking them down to the surface from somewhere on high. It’s up to Paimyn to improvise, to create as well as destroy, and find a way to get this guy to just… stop for a while. And that, of course, is his speciality.
Dream Planet: Derse
One does not get more dissatisfied than the person forced to clean up others’ messes, and without a shred of recognition for it, either! A “Thank you” or hell, a promise to not do it again might suffice but nooooooooooooo, those two just KEEP TRYING to commit social suicide.
I love him a lot even if he seems like SUCH a downer. Anyways design time:
Tumblr media
Horns: I gave him arrow horns that stick out to the side that look like those arrow headbands because I thought a serious guy like him having that sort of association would be... very funny.
Hair: Nice and simple and neat.
Face: Grumpy brows, grumpy mouth. His sunglasses are edited from Sollux’s.
Suit: I borrowed this from Dave and edited it mildly, put it in a nice deep blue, and then put his symbol across the jacket.
Shoes: They’re just meant to be sleek and clean, very simple and standard shoes all around.
This was a pretty simple design, but I think with a straightforward character like him that’s inevitable. I like him a lot! I hope some of my suggestions helped.

Whewww, guys, three DnD sessions in and I died 🙃 Straight up died, no death saving throw - 14 hit points in one go when I was already down to 1. The DM bent the rules to let me keep my character, so I'm alive, but at what cost 😬
The fight started so well too! The party (Antinua the half-elf mage, Grunt the half-orc monk, Trygon the tiefling rogue and my halfling bard, Malva) stealth down a corridor only to find a guard room with three guards and two drakes, ready for us. (Grunt absolutely destroyed the door. Take that, door.) Malva steps in and successfully Charms one of the guards into seeing the party as old friends but also attacking another guard, so that's those two occupied, but we still have to deal with the third guard and two drakes (I think they were ash drakes?). We hadn't rested from last time, so I was at 11 HP. At one point one of the drakes bites me and keeps my arm between its claws, so I drop down to 1HP... And this is were our mage makes a crucial mistake: she forgets to account for the cone of her fire bolt and hits me as well as the drake. BAM, -14 HP, bye Malva. (the player was just "SHITSHITSHIT WAIT" but nope, what's done is done.)
The only one in the party with anything to heal with is me, with my 1st level Heal spell. The irony 😭
Medicine rolls are made, and the DM asks me to make a Constitution roll... and I roll a 1. AND FORGET TO REROLL IT (as a halfling, I can reroll ones) BECAUSE I'M A MORON.
That's when we took a break, and during that time Trygon's player suggested he use his magitek arm (he lost his arm opening a trap that killed him, after Shenanigans the DM let him live with only one flesh arm and he got to have this cool kinda robotic arm with features like electricity and stuff). So he shocks Malva with it and brings her back up to 0. But then the arm the drake bit starts to do funky stuff (acid or poison damage, I'm not sure), and he has to cut it, so he does... and rolls a 2, which means Malva loses her left arm at the elbow.
So now Malva is a one-armed bald halfling who has been burned to a crisp, with bad burn scars over her body up to her neck, with 16 Charisma instead of her previous 18. (My modifier is down to +3 now, dangit ;____;) Thank goodness we levelled up to 4 and I had my eye on the Warcaster feat (it allows a spellcaster to cast even with one or both hands occupied, among other things). She's going to wear a scarf/turban, like my aunt Bernadette (who lost all her hair when she was in her 20s or 30s) until she got implants.
So now the plan is to finish the arc/dungeon, and afterwards go seek out a powerful mage (if we find one) who might regrow Malva's arm in exchange for a quest.
Guys. I was stress grinning through the whole thing and making little jokes because I couldn't not (I think I got a glimpse into Sam Riegel's mind as a player) but I was Very Not Fine. I love Malva! She's cute! She's not super smart or perceptive and she's shy when she's not performing, but she just wants to protect everyone! Half her spells are pure support, a quarter are manipulation (for Enemies) and the last quarter are just "I WILL FUCK YOU UP IF YOU TOUCH THEM"! (Vicious Mockery and Thunderwave my beloved, and you can bet I packed Shatter for my levelling up.) I want to use Cutting Words and Healing Word! And I want to regain those two Charisma points one day 😭
But hey, Malva's alive and I don't have to roll another character - I can still spend some time with her, thank goodness.
You can bet two things, though. First, I think our mage will be much more careful in the future about where she aims her spells; and second, I will make myself remember to reroll those bloody ones!!

A thrilling development in the breathtaking adventures (literally, lol) of my halfling bard! We had a mini private RP session with my DM over WhatsApp and it turns out there was a priest in the tavern-former monastery our characters rushed Malva back to. With Malva's consent, he performed a ritual to regrow her arm... except the ritual was hijacked by another (unknown) entity, and instead of a normal halfling left arm she got... an imp arm from the elbow down :D Bright red, with claws (that do 1d4 +3 damage in melee, nice).
So she regained one point of charisma (but "not for the same reasons", which I guess means it's a good thing I was already proficient in deception, persuasion and intimidation), and is now immune against poison! I'm still taking War caster as my level 4 feat, I want that reaction and advantage on constitution saving throws on concentration (plus being able to cast spells with one or both hands occupied!). Now I just need to draw what Malva looks like at level 4 ^^

So I played ttrpg for the very first time yesterday and had an absolute BLAST!? I vaguely wanted to try for years, but none of my various groups of friends was into it and I was a bit meh about the online version. But there’s a monthly session at the library I work at, so I took the plunge recently and dove in. The DM and the party were super welcoming and I’m really looking forward to more!
I had to make two characters - one DnD (5e, Forgotten Realms), and another for a French RPG called Les terres d’Arran, with another DM (a player is setting up his very first campaign). Everyone had to make a character for that last one, and between that and the fact that they had to finish the arc before I met the DnD party I didn’t get to roll a die, but I did get to play both characters and get things started and it was sooo fun 💜
So here are my characters:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
On the left, Malva Chaumette, middle-aged halfling bard, who left her village and family a relatively short time ago to follow a more experienced bard. She’s sweet and unassuming and very self-conscious (it gets better when she’s playing) and basically a natural born auntie. She went into town and was accosted by a kid in rags asking whether she was a real musician and could play well (her answer: “I hope so” :D). She followed him, half-expecting to be mugged in an alley - to her surprise, the kid worked for an innkeeper seeking a musician, and after a bit of haggling she got a job (and room and board) for 5 copper a day, meals included. We’ll see where she goes from there! (I copied the background from The Hunchback of Notre-Dame, btw.)
And then on the left, you’ve got Zinna Millybrook, my disaster child, a flamboyant lesbian mage whose quest in life is finding the perfect mage hat (and incidentally find her family; she was found in a hay cart when she was a kid and grew up on the streets, before a human mage took her as her apprentice - she’s the only person Zinna trusts). When the story start, she’s in a tavern and hears a drunk old dwarf blather about a “stone tree” and treasure, three dwarves saying they’ll check it out in the morning, and a bunch of strangers setting up a party to arrive first. So she heavily flirts with the barmaid to convince her to get the dwarves drunk (and also just because) before leaving with the party - but who knows what will happen if they do find the treasure :D
I’m really excited 🥰

OKAY OKAY SO
I said I'd be able to play DnD Saturday and I did!! And it was sooo good 🥰
Oh man, I am 100% hooked. I love the other TTRPG, but DnD is something else. I played my late middle-aged halfling bard I'd RPed juuust a little way back in April (my Malva) while the rest of the party finished the arc they were on. The DM incorporated her into the story with another new character (the only other woman), Antinua the half-elven mage, and she and Malva did a bit of camping for a week - and were beset by bandits! I was down to 3 hit points at some point 😅 Good thing I packed Cure Wounds! (But Malva got the kill on the main attacker and also his purse, so how's that for a highwayman? "Your money and your life!" And yes she made that joke because she's a huge dork :D)
Met with the rest of the party (mostly), a tiefling rogue and a half-orc (almost full orc) monk, and off we went on an archaeological quest to find an oracle in the middle of ruins. Shenanigans ensued, we met a whole lot of NPCs, and we were attacked by a bunch of kobolds in the ruins!
GUYS! I got to cast Vicious Mockery! I got to give inspiration to our rogue! I scribbled ideas on a paper waiting for my turn, and to the tune of Prince's "Superstitious" I sung something (in French, natch) that could roughly translate as this:
A little inspiration We will back you up A little inspiration Now go fuck them up
I felt very silly and very proud that everybody cracked up 😄
*happy sigh* Man, I thought I'd love playing a bard and I am SO HAPPY to be right. October's going to be all about the other RPG and my disaster lesbian gnome mage (love her), but November can't come quickly enough!!

You guys, RPG is soooo good and I’m having so much fun with it?? We had an unplanned session yesterday; it was only three out of the five of our new party but we got to meet another player (another girl! I’m not the only one :D). In a nutshell we were continuing the Chroniques oubliées game we started last time (my first time, I didn’t even get to roll dice), in which my character is a flamboyant, mouthy lesbian gnome mage called Zinna (and the rest of the party is dwarves). The system is much simpler than DnD (there’s only 5 levels, for one, with one spell for each, after which you can study different “ways” and learn different spells).
We fought a wolf, I rolled a 21 on charisma (18 +3, baby!) to convince the newcomer she needed to tell us anything she knew about the quest we both were on, we fought bandits, and then we came to a ramshackle house where we found a cute lil’ black cat that emitted a funky mist. Naturally, our resident “IMMA SHOOT IT” shot a crossbow bolt at it, and it transformed into an enormous monster and his owner (a dark elf sorcerer) was not happy. But! Through a mix of bad rolls from her and some “omg your kitty is so cute, can I pet him, what’s his name, that’s a super rare breed, also uh wow ma’am you’re really really pretty” from Zinna (she’s really into taller women), she didn’t kill us! Yay :D We found a way to travel between planes, so next time I anticipate travelling to an elf-only world, which is gonna be fun for a party of four dwarves and a gnome considering there is “total war” between elves and dwarves :-|
But yeah, it’s so fun. And I’m looking forward to playing Malva (my halfling bard) next time 💜

I’ve been spending a lot of time and having a lot of fun lately playing around with characters on heroforge.com and now I actually have two OCs in a generic fantasy setting!?
Zigiline (pronounced “ziggileen”) is a dwarf bard, just starting her new career. She’s very romantic and a bit of a dreamer but she knows her craft. Not pictured is the dagger she keeps at her waist, a gift from her grandmother, hoping she’ll never have to use it because she’s not a super fan of blades.
Malva is a gnome blacksmith (the best in town, thankyouverymuch). She makes horseshoes, weapons, tools - anything metallic you need. She lost part of her left arm in an accident when she was little and she regularly updates her (self-made) prosthesis. She’s mouthy and snarky and never afraid of talking down to people twice her size if they try to disparage her work.
They’re in love 😘
