There are many variations and names for this mouthwatering appetiser of mixed cucumber, carrot and vegetables. Colloquially called *acat".. some refer to it as #NyonyaAchar, #PenangAchar, #MelakaAchar they are all same yet not same. Anyhow we learned to appreciate this dish from my late mum. Menu on @perthfoodmenu or click #PFR_ChineseOrchid We got to sample the signature dishes from Chinese Orchid: 1/2 Roast duck; roast pork and barbecue pork (charsiew) platter; Laksa noodle soup (aud13.90); Wanton noodles: both dry and with soup (aud13.90); Beef Kuey Teow (aud12.90); Seafood Hor Fun (aud13.90); sides of crispy chicken, deep-fried chicken balls and vegetarian spring rolls. Our favourite was the roast duck - this is the best roast duck in the Northern suburbs I’ve had to-date. The roast duck meat was juicy and the skin was crispy. Chinese Orchid makes the roast duck, roast pork and barbecue meat (charsiew) in-house and offer catering services too. Tip: One whole roast duck costs aud34 and you should definitely call to book ahead. The curry laksa paste is made from scratch and I love how there is still a bit of spiciness without catering too much to the Western tastebuds. The curry laksa is one of their best-selling dishes here per the owner May. Enjoyed the Seafood Hor Fun and Beef Kuey Teow too - love the fresh seafood and the texture of the Hor Fun and Kuey Teow - the flat rice noodles were silky soft. Warm bowl of beef soup is good for rainy days comfy for your stomach too - Pre MCO 3.0 food . Not gonna lie I’m super Skeptical when i saw this cafe style looking beef noodle spot. (I’m always skeptical on cafe food 🙃) I mean, yo beef noodles is classic msian Chinese that the best is always found in hawker kinda areas. @beefbowl_my proof that I was wrong though. This post consist of 2 visits. First few pics is mixed beef, beef ball bowl ( RM 15.9”/ USD 4) . First visit . Dumbstruck with how good it is. the green chilli goes so well. Could add chilli flakes if you want . The later pics are Mixed beef, beef ball, tendon and tripe bowl (RM 18.90 / USD 5), the parts is good for health. Soft, easy to bite . But this visit didn’t have enough soup, I felt would be better if more soup was in the bowl. Overall the taste is still rich flavourful. Both bowls come with radish cylinder cubes. Soft easy to bite . Both visits soup is equally flavourful, but more soup would have been better. Note: in my opinion, it’s more of a Thai beef noodle soup kinda taste cause as you see the coriander + chilli flakes results in a very rich Thai spices soup base taste and you get to choose rice noodles. Overall the price is of course more than your average hawker store beef noodles. Yesterday, Danial displayed himself as the Western vampire. Now, here comes his twin sister, Diana, as the Nusantaran vampire, known as the Pontianak. The idea came when our CEO was watching some Malay horror movies in the 2000s. To her, the movie are super nostalgic. So, Diana agreed after discussing with our CEO to disguise as the Pontianak. Umm...but somehow, this vampire is way creepier than the Dracula because of the fake blood stains on the costume. What do you think?
