Amoreena | Chapter Nine
Tumblr media
chapter nine
main summary: Heaven is a real place and it's located exactly 14.6 miles away from the FBI, Quantico Headquarters. Off behind a small park, under a fantastical willow tree surrounded by wildflowers, in every colour young minds can imagine.
Don't forget, heaven also comes with angels.
Chapter Warnings: date night!! this is very fluffy, very emotional and extremely horny. edgar allan poe is rolling in his grave at what they did in his enchanted garden
exhibitionism, public sex (no ones there tho), drug mentions at the end (let me know if I should tag anything else!!!!)
word count: 5.4k
from the beginning <3
He spent all of Thursday afternoon with Penelope in Richmond, setting up for his date that night.
Stringing lights on the trees, mowing the grass and trimming the flowers back, the staff ensuring that the museum was in pristine condition for them tonight, it was perfect. The cats were brushed, there were rose petals the fountain and the most beautiful picnic set up in the garden.
Penelope packed their dinner for them, keeping it in the museum fridge for when they finally arrived, it was the only thing Spencer needed to remember.
Y/N: just got home, about to get ready! Can’t wait to see you at 6 ♥︎
Spencer smiled at his phone, about to text her back when Penelope laid a hand on his back, “change into your suit and head back to her, traffic might be bad?”
“Thank you, for everything. You’ve always been my best friend, more of big sister actually,” Spencer pressed his lips together tightly as to not get emotional. “You’re wonderful Penelope, thank you.”
“Awe!” She swooned, wrapping him up in a big hug. “I will always love you, Spencer, you deserve all of this and so, so much more, now go before I cry.”
He laughed, pulling back, hand lingering on her shoulder as he walked into the museum. They let him change in the backroom, it felt incredibly strange to be putting on a suit inside Edgar Allan Poe's house to go pick up his wife. Not too long ago he dreamed about bringing a girlfriend here someday, life was moving too quickly, he needed a breather.
He kept his suit jacket folded and on the passenger seat as he drove home, where he lived with his family. Even just thinking that as he paid attention to the road made him smile. The wind hitting his face, his hair blowing in the breeze, he felt free at last.
He was where he was supposed to be, all roads lead to here.
Travelling up her driveway with a smile on his face as the dust followed him to her doorstep. She was waiting in a red dress on the porch, Amoreena and her nanny eating pizza on the steps as they waited for him.
Stepping out of his car, he straightened his tie and pulled his pants up more, looking at his wife like she was a star plucked from the sky, landing in this Virginia field for him.
She stood then, her satin dress flowing and exposing a leg as she walked down the steps to him, “Is this what you wanted?” She twirled in front of him to show it all off, her hair getting stuck in her lipstick and making her laugh.
“I love you,” is all he can say as she leaning in with a wide grin, surpassing the smile to kiss him gently, using her thumb to get all the lipstick off his bottom lip and chin.
“Love you too, cutie,” she winked, taking his hand and turning back towards Amoreena, “listen to Nanny, remember we love you and we will see you no earlier than 7:30 tomorrow, okay?”
“Yes ma’am!” She saluted, mouth full of pizza.
“And what are the new rules about coming into our bed in the morning?”
“Knock first, wait till you respond, don’t come in unless you say it’s okay,” Amoreena replied, sticking her tongue out at her as she remembered it all.
“Smartie pants,” Y/N smiled at her, “come give us a hug, don’t get pizza on my dress, please.”
Amoreena wiped her sleeve over her mouth before running into her mother's open arms, they shared goodbye kisses before it was Spencer’s turn. She held him so tight it felt wonderful, “goodnight Lovey, I’ll see you tomorrow morning, have the best sleep ever for me?”
“I’ll see you in dreamland,” she replied, kissing his cheek gently before she pulled back.
“Have fun!” Nanny called from the porch as Amoreena skipped back to her.
“We will,” Spencer replied, taking Y/N’s hand and leading her to the passenger side, he opened her door and helped her inside, insuring her dress was inside before closing the door.
Jogging back to his door, he got in and put on his seatbelt. He threw the car in reverse and turned around by the barn, heading down the driveway, not saying a single thing as Y/N stared at him.
“You’re really not going to tell me anything?” She shook her head, licking her lip before biting it as she huffed.
“We’re going to Richmond, Virginia, to read,” he gave her one hint.
“Hmm,” she smiled, “I’m sure you won't tell me the title, so Mr. I can remember every book ever, what’s a random line in it?”
“You’re smart,” he teased her, “but for the brilliant green of the huge leaves that spread from their summits in long, tremulous lines, dallying with the Zephyrs—”
“We’re going to the Edgar Allan Poe Museum!” She cut him off with a cheer.
He slows down on the barren dirt road, mouth wide open as she got it right, he turns to her as they come to a complete stop, “how the heck did you get that?”
“Yes!” she laughed, tossing her head back as she clapped and kicked her feet a little, so proud of herself, “I’m a librarian, Spencer! Did you think I wouldn’t know Eleonora?”
“That’s the most random sentence in the whole poem?” Spencer was shocked, she recalled it faster than he thought he would be able to if she read a line to him.
“My brother’s first motorcycle was a Zephyr,” she smiled at him, raising her eyebrows. “My brain is kinda like a filing cabinet, if you give me a word I can remember everything I’ve ever heard with that word included.”
He started to drive again, shaking his head as he paid attention to the road but still astounded by how amazing she is. “Amoreena gets that from you then, she could have both our eidetic memories together, that would be very interesting to see.”
“Eidetic memory?” She questioned.
“It’s what most people call photographic memory,” Spencer explained. “You can remember everything you hear which is why you and Amoreena are able to recall songs, books and movie facts so fast, while I can read back to you anything I’ve read without having to see it again, it’s forever in my mind.”
“So we’re both geniuses, cool,” Y/N smiled at him again, “sorry I ruined your surprise.”
“You just know where we’re going,” he reminded her, laying his hand on hers, interlocking their fingers as he drove.
They had an hour alone before the real date started.
So she showed him all of her favourite songs, including some of Amoreena’s playlists so he could get familiar with them before their trip to Rhode Island. Her voice was impeccable, she knew all the words and harmonies, often opting to cove background voices he wouldn’t have even known were there if it wasn’t for her.
She loved music in a way that intrigued him, she enjoyed music with a story. Much like the reason she loved books so much, she enjoyed picturing the happy places in her mind that the songs were able to take her to, they filled her with glee and hope as she sang to her heart's content. Taking short breaks to explain the meanings of songs, to recite the best lyrics and why the songs are close to her heart.
“Do you want to hear the song that reminds me the most of you?” She asked between songs, pausing so that nothing else would start.
“Sure,” he blushed, nervous for what it could be and how she imagined him in her mind, hoping he could live up to it.
“I'm perfectly fine I live on my own, I made up on my mind, I'm better off bein' alone. We met a few weeks ago, now you try on callin' me, baby, like tryin' on clothes,”
She stares at him with a beautiful smile as she waits to see his reaction to the opening, finally singing when the beat drops, dancing softly in her seat as she belted the words out to him.
“So prove to me I'm your American Queen, and you move to me like I'm a Motown beat, and we rule the kingdom inside my room,” She brushed her hand across his jaw, teasing him as the words flow from her lips to his ears, she loves him and he can feel it with every syllable.
“And all at once, you are the one I have been waiting for, King of my heart, body and soul, ooh whoa! And all at once, you are all I want, I'll never let you go King of my heart, body and soul, ooh whoa,” she sings so softly, with a purpose, turning it down a little so that he can talk to her.
“I love you,” he reminded her, “so much it hurts sometimes.”
“It’s like your heartstrings are tugging on each other, right?” She agreed, “like they want to jump out of our chests and run to each other.”
He nodded with a soft smile, reaching for her hand again holding it as he brought it to his mouth for a kiss, “queen of my heart.”
“Hmmm,” she thought over his words, “I’m pretty content with being princess still, Lady Amoreena is in line for the thrown, it’s part of her namesake after all.”
“Does the kingdom have a name?”
“You know the Elton John song Goodbye Yellow Brick Road?” She waited for his nod, “my grandma called it Ozellous so it’s like wizard of Oz but I added the 'ellous' because people always said they were jealous of our farm.”
He’s trying his best to keep his eyes on the road when all he want’s to do is look at her smile, to see her pupil change as she recalls the loving memory, it’s his favourite thing to do. Better than any movie or play, seeing her face was better than looking at the most expensive art piece. He was so in love with all of her.
“Were you like Amoreena as a kid?”
“Oh yeah,” she laughed, “bullied hardcore for it too, kids always told me to shut up cause I’d add facts to conversations I wasn’t a part of.”
“I would have loved to listen,” Spencer replied softly, knowing the feeling all too well.
They were only a few minutes away now, turning into the small town and passing quaint little homes and cottages. “Amoreena would love this drive, these are some interesting townspeople homes for her imagination, we should come back sometime this summer.”
His heart was going to actually explode, she was everything he never knew he needed.
“I’d love that,” he added as they pulled into the museum. “I’m a museum member and I’m a patron, so sometimes I donate rare pieces I find, they love me here.”
Her mouth opened to speak, but her eyes got caught on the twinkling lights in the distance, mesmerized by everything. Old cobblestone streets, brick buildings and wooden gates, it was straight out of the 1800s and absolutely fantastical.
“And it’s all ours for the night,” he put the car in park and turned to her, “wait here?”
She nodded, speechless as she continued to look out the window at everything. Spencer got out of the car, opening the back seat to grab and put on his jacket, straighten out his suit before opening her door and extending a hand to help her out.
“Princess,” he extended his arm for her to tuck her own under, he closed her door and escorted her through the gate and towards the garden.
The sun was just starting to set, 7 pm in early June being the most beautiful time of year in rural Virginia, the sky was a perfect purple as he leads her through the stone arches towards the picnic.
Her eyes sparkled with all the lights, wide and pupils blown as she took it all in. It was a fairytale, she was in a princess dress, he was the king of her heart and this was just the beginning of happily ever after.
“Spencer, whatever your middle name is, Reid,” she gasped, swatting his arm lightly with a smile growing on her face.
“It’s Walter,” he smiled right back.
He let go of her hand then and walked over to a table, turning on the record player and dropping the needle in the right spot. He did his research into some Taylor Swift songs, finding one that reminded him the most of Y/N and how much he loved her.
“May I have this dance?” He asks as she notices the all too familiar guitar strumming.
He reaches a hand out for her, pulling her in as she takes it, “I was so so lost before I found you in the park,” he explains the first verse, barely a whisper beside her ear as they start to sway.
There I was again tonight forcing laughter, faking smiles Same old tired, lonely place Walls of insincerity Shifting eyes and vacancy, vanished when I saw your face
“All I can say is it was enchanting to meet you,” he whispers once more, feeling the goosebumps bursting on her bare arms.
He spun her around, extending both their arms as she twirled out and then back into his embrace again with a giggle. She swayed back and forth, dancing with him like the night they got married in her field.
Your eyes whispered "have we met?" Across the room your silhouette starts to make it's way to me The playful conversation starts Counter all your quick remarks, like passing notes in secrecy
“And it was enchanting to meet you, All I can say is I was enchanted to meet you,” he sings them this time, spinning her out again as the chorus hits, her eyes widening as she began to smile wider than he’s ever seen before.
They sang the words together as they danced, smiling and laughing as they moved around the cobblestone. Finding a rhythm so perfect, so them, it was silly and not on beat in the slightest, mostly spinning, it was a spinning song if the album cover was any indication.
This night is sparkling, don't you let it go I'm wonderstruck, blushing all the way home I'll spend forever wondering if you knew I was enchanted to meet you!
“The lingering question kept me up, Two a.m., who do you love? I wonder till I'm wide awake! Now I'm pacing back and forth, wishing you were at my door, I'd open up and you would say, hey! It was enchanting to meet you, all I know is I was enchanted to meet you,” Y/N’s voice softer than ever as she sang her anxieties into his ear, remembering the day at the museum where she wondered if she could have him all to herself.
This night is sparkling, don't you let it go I'm wonderstruck, blushing all the way home I'll spend forever wondering if you knew This night is flawless, don't you let it go I'm wonderstruck, dancing around all alone I'll spend forever wondering if you knew I was enchanted to meet you
Spinning around in circles she leaves his grasp, dress circling in the wind and he watches her. She takes both his hands and spins around with him in a tight circle before pulling back in, their chests bumping as they laughed, happier than he’s ever been in his entire life, and she’s made him pretty happy in the last few weeks.
The girl of his dreams, dancing around him with a smile like she was making her own music video. This was a dream of hers he didn’t know, making it come true as it became a dream of his own.
He places his hands on her cheeks as he stares into her eyes, “this is me praying that this was the very first page, not where the storyline ends. My thoughts will echo your name until I see you again. These are the words I held back, as I was leaving too soon, I was enchanted to meet you,” he whisper’s the words, barely singing, more talking.
“Please don't be in love with someone else. Please don't have somebody waiting on you. Please don't be in love with someone else. Please don't have somebody waiting on you,” she sings right back to him, staring into his eyes as they stand still in the garden.
She pulls him into a kiss, breathing in deeply through her nose as they hold each other’s cheeks, unable to get closer as they kissed. Pulling away with a loud smooch sound, smiling before taking her hands in his, once more.
Spinning her around again as the beat drops once more, her smile more beautiful than the first time he saw it. He was so madly in love, he firmly believed he was in heaven.
This night is sparkling, don't you let it go I'm wonderstruck, blushing all the way home I'll spend forever wondering if you knew!!
This night is flawless, don't you let it go I'm wonderstruck, dancing around all alone I'll spend forever wondering if you knew I was enchanted to meet you!
Please don't be in love with someone else Please don't have somebody waiting on you
“Now go stand in the corner and think about what you did,” Taylor Swift's voice cuts into the beautiful moment as her songs change and the mood drastically changes.
Y/N bursts out in laughter, jumping lightly as she enjoyed the song, head-banging along as she danced by herself until Spencer turned the music off once again, “you’re so cute.”
“Thank you,” she bowed, “this is cute!”
“There’s a picnic basket in the fridge inside, and some wine if you think that’s a good idea?” Pointing towards the main house, she followed him towards the door.
“Oh, hello?” Her voice changed as she noticed the two black cats on the window, letting Spencer head inside for the basket as she talked to them.
“That’s Edgar and Pluto, the groundskeeper found them in the shed in 2012,” Spencer explains as he comes back out, basket in hand but she’s too busy with the cats to notice.
Petting both their faces, they stretch into her reach and bask in the feeling of her nails on their skin, Spencer would agree it felt nice. He loved the feeling of her hands in his hair, he must have been a cat in his last life.
“Amoreena wants her own indoor cat,” Y/N smiled wide at him, “she always wanted to call him Hercules like the Elton John song, almost like she knew you were her dad all along.”
She took his free hand then, following him towards the blanket in the grass, “how?”
“There’s a line in the song about Greek gods, but it says Hercules on her side and Diana in her eyes, and she does have your mom's eyes, right down to the colour of her iris,” Y/N looked at him like he was everything to her.
Spencer couldn’t speak, he just set the basket on the ground and ushered her to sit down beside him. She held the skirt of her dress up so she could sit crisscross applesauce on the blanket, draping her dress over her legs so she didn’t show anything off just yet.
“Every time I look at you I understand all her quirks and her facial expressions,” she added like she was trying to make him cry, “I’ve been looking at her for almost 8 years now, wondering who you were and now I know, and you’re so much better than I ever imagined.”
“Would you have looked for me when she turned 18?” Is all he can ask through his sniffles, trying to hold it together for her.
She nodded, “I was going to tell her soon anyway, she asks a lot of questions I’m not sure if you noticed.” Her giggle was priceless, “she had lots of questions when the goats were born this year and that meant her asking more about making human babies and I just said a special man helped me make my dreams come true, and she thought it was Rumpelstiltskin.”
Spencer couldn’t fight the laugh that erupted from him, leaning forward as he chuckled, making her laugh too. “Does she even know the whole story?”
“She’s only seen the 4th Shrek movie with him, she has no idea that he also takes the babies,” Y/N placed her hand on his knee gently, “If I get pregnant again, I’m going to tell her about how it all works as simply as possible, I want her to feel included in this and she’ll be less jealous if she sees this as a learning opportunity.”
“That’s a good idea,” he agreed, “I still can't believe she almost punched Michael for hugging me.”
“Oh, I can,” Y/N laughed again, “she was being bullied last year by an older kid and I said if someone upsets you or hurts you, sometimes it’s not that bad to hurt them back. Make them know you’re not weak and you care about yourself, and she gave a kid a black eye for tugging on her braid.”
Spencer couldn’t stop smiling, “that’s my girl.”
Y/N opened the picnic basket then, taking everything out with a smile as Spencer stared at her, thinking a million different thoughts about future kids, how Amoreena would grow up, seeing her as a big sister to hopefully many.
They both leaned forward and kissed softly, smiling as they pulled back, “so you like charcuterie?”
She laughed, “Amoreena called it shark coochie once, I can’t not think of that now.”
“How many kids do you want?”
“Have you ever read cheaper by the dozen?” She teased him. “As many as I can have, I have the funds thanks to my job and the farm and not having to pay a mortgage, I was going to have another baby next year anyway, I had an appointment and everything scheduled, I even tried to get them to contact Amoreena’s father for another sample but they said they couldn’t ask you outright for me.”
“They asked me if I wanted to give another sample when I asked if I could know my kids,” Spencer remembered the words exactly, “she said ‘You have four offspring so far, none of the other samples used have produced a child, the women were all IVF as well so it wasn’t your swimmer's fault if you wanted to donate again.’”
“I don’t want to know the truth, are you okay if we let her decide if she wants to find out at 18?” Y/N asked softly, “I’m content thinking you’re her father, I don’t want to know if it’s some other tall who-lookin’ genius, okay?”
“That’s perfect actually,” Spencer agreed, “and on the kids front, you don’t mind me being in my 70s when they all start going to University?”
“My dad is 68 with no signs of stopping, and he’s still fantastic with his grandkids,” Y/N always had a fact to combat his anxiety. “You have a lot of life left in you, I’ll take good care of you so that they have the best dad ever for as long as possible.”
Spencer was so in love with his family he felt like he was floating, laughing and smiling all meal long as they shared facts back and forth about their lives. Getting to know each other more and more as the seconds passed, he imagined it would be like this forever. She was like a bottomless pit of information, facts, stories and secrets. He loved every single one she shared with him.
She poured herself a second small glass of wine, “you know they say that one glass of wine every once in a while is actually good for the baby?”
“It doesn’t work that fast,” he reminded her, more like he reminded himself. He didn’t want to hope in the chance it didn’t happen right away.
“I had a nightmare last night for the first time in a long time, so I think it worked,” she teased him. “I won't know till June 10th, that's when my next period would be.”
“Nightmare?” It was the only part he picked up on, worried for her and wondering why she didn’t wake him up.
She nodded softly, “I found out I was pregnant and you never came home, and I got lost in the forest looking for you and then I remembered I could wake up.”
He rests his hand on her knee, rubbing his thumb against her bare skin softly, “I’m always coming home to you.”
“I know, when I got pregnant with Amoreena I had bad dreams in the first few weeks too, mostly about giving birth to nothing and being alone all over again, the subconscious and pregnancy hormones are mean as fuck when they hang out,” she laughed away the pain, “I know none of it is real.”
“Good,” he whispered, not knowing what really to say, he wasn’t used to soothing other people yet. Most people didn’t want his facts or concernment when something happened, just a hug normally.
She took a deep breath, pushing everything away, “good news, either my anxiety disorder is back in full swing or something’s working in here,” she laid her hand over her stomach, “either way, I’d like to try again tonight?”
He laughed, “we don’t need to make a baby every time you want to have sex?”
She got onto her knees then, crawling over the blanket and sitting right in Spencer's lap with her hands on both of his cheeks, “I want all your babies.”
He held her waist, pulling her in closer to his chest, “right now?”
She nodded, moving her dress out of the way to undo his belt, “no one is here right? It’s not like anyone would know?”
“Mhmm,” he agreed, kissing her neck as she unzipped his pants, moving his underwear out of the way just enough to free his hardening cock, she stroked it right there in the middle of the garden, staring down between their bodies in awe as he came to life.
Sitting up on her knees more, the slit of her dress made it a lot easier for her to show him her underwear. She was wearing just a thong, perfect for pulling to the side as she lowered herself onto him, ever so slowly.
She fixed her dress around them, completely calm and composed as he was fully inside of her, “you’re okay with this?”
He huffed a laugh out of his nose, dropping his forehead to her shoulder so he couldn’t buck into her and ruin the moment she was making, his hands moving to her hips, guiding her back and off him slightly before back down again, making her gasp.
“I thought you wanted to read?” She teased him as she started to ride him more, moving her hips in a way that took him in and out of her at just the right angle, her hands on his shoulders as she bounced on him lightly, he couldn’t even think straight. “Go on, read to me.”
He took a second to remember the words, mind totally somewhere else and not interested in a book at all when her boobs were right in his face.
“I am come of a race noted for vigor of fancy and ardor of passion,” the first sentence slipped past his lips as she kept going, he took a moment to kiss right under her ear before continuing.
“Men have called me mad; but the question is not yet settled, whether madness is or is not the loftiest intelligence—whether much that is glorious—whether all that is profound—does not spring from disease of thought—from moods of mind exalted at the expense of the general intellect.”
“Shit,” she moaned, pushing his hand down towards her clit, “you can multitask, smartie pants.”
His thumb was on a mission then, rubbing small circles against her pleasure point, she tossed her head back with her eyes closed as she continued to ride him, “I don’t hear you reading?”
He moaned softly in her ear at the feeling, and the fact she wanted to get off to hearing him recite something from memory, it was more euphoric than he could have ever imagined.
“They who dream by day are cognizant of many things which escape those who dream only by night. In their gray visions they obtain glimpses of eternity, and thrill, in ah- awakening, fuck,” he was trying his best to stay as composed as she was when he really just wanted to lay her against the blanket and fuck her into next week.
“to find that they have been upon the verge of the great secret,” Y/N whispered the end of the sentence, grinding down on him harder than before.
“In snatches, they learn something of the wisdom which is of good,” she whispered into his ear, biting his earlobe softly with a moan and he kept rubbing her clit, “you’re so good, Spencer, so so good," she paused to enjoy the moment before whispering in his ear once more, "And more of the mere knowledge which is of evil. They penetrate, however, rudderless or compass-less into the vast ocean of the "light ineffable," and again, like the adventures of the Nubian geographer, "agressi sunt mare tenebrarum, quid in eo esset exploraturi.”
Her words softer than ever and they were never going to get to the end of this poem, he'd never know how the rest of the words sound on her tongue, she pulled him into a kiss then, moaning into his mouth as they ground against each other, finding a perfect rhythm to bring them to the end.
“There, yes, fuck,” she whispered against his lips, pushing against him as she arched her back slightly, slipping away from his mouth as she did so.
He slammed into her then as he chased her lips, making her whimper one last time before she was shaking in his lap, her legs quivering as she finished on him, sending him over the edge and stilling as he came with a shudder. He held her so close, both of them breathing into each other's mouths as they came down, kissing and smiling as they stayed connected.
“We’ll name her Eleonora,” Y/N teased, pulling off him and laying back against the blanket.
He made sure her underwear was back in the right spot before covering her with her dress again and sliding himself back into his underwear.
“Amoreena and Eleonora have a good ring to it, we just need 10 more names,” he teased right back.
“Hopefully we have a little boy one day too,” she smiled as she tugged him down beside her, cuddling into her side as they stared up at the newly dark blue sky and the array of stars that decided to join them this evening.
“Even if it’s just Amoreena, I’ve never been happier in my whole life than when I’m with you,” he whispered. “Thank you.”
“For what?” She asked, purely to keep hearing his voice.
“Making me want to get up in the morning again, giving me a reason not to buy drugs for something euphoric to happen to me, showing me real love and proof that happiness is possible if you just chose to be happy,” he gave example after example.
“I thought I learned everything the world had to offer, but you’ve been showing me new little life hacks that make the world so much better, I see a future of bright colours and happiness and laughter for the first time ever, so thank you.”
She held him closer, “it’s been a pleasure falling in love with you, together, you deserve to love yourself. You’re so wonderful Spencer, it breaks my heart to know that anyone has ever made you feel the opposite.”
He couldn’t speak anymore, turning to kiss her neck and cheek so he had something to do that wasn’t crying. He loved her so incredibly deeply that he felt like he was an anchor, dropping to the bottom of her deepest ocean, without a single plan to leave.

mini series coming soon!!
since you guys got me over 300 followers, i held up my end of my own deal and was finally able to think up the first of a 100% written series (social media included only when needed to build the story).
there will only be two for now but i want to get the sykkuno series a good ways in before bringing in new content like this! i’ve been a writer since middle school and have major writer’s block for a book i’m working on rn so i’m really excited about writing an actual story for lunarrwolf! these are the banners, very tiny synopses, and sneak peek excerpts for DAYWALKER!s and Siren Woods
s.h warning: siren woods will not be for the faint of heart as it will be put in the category of a psychological thriller. it will contain suspense, fear(s), anxiety and/or mentions of depression, isolation and swearing
d.w!s warning: this is an apocalyptic world w/o zombies. it will contain violence, anxiety, entrapment, fear(s) and swearing
disclaimer: i will do my absolutely best not to treat either of these as if they were actual novels. i plan on putting in comedic lines and scenes to lower any thriller/horror vibes from the stories, and not too go too far to avoid truly triggering myself or anyone else. warnings will only be issued in chapters that are going to actually include one or more of above the above. but if anyone who reads them in the future have issues do not feel like you need to keep reading.

DAYWALKER!s
a variety youtuber mini series
summary
ten creators find themselves amidst a city with an oddly familiar vibe, a weird yet intimidating apocalyptic appearance, and hundreds of strangers that feel the need to do nothing but fight their way through the city. even if that means to the death.
excerpt
“You’re all going to die, you know.. so you might as well give up now and let it take over.”
“What the fuck is that supposed to mean?”
You blinked at the growl woven in with your friend’s deep voice, knowing for sure that if you were in an animation a sweat drop would be making its way down the side of your head. He hated confrontation more than anyone here but when it came to his friends, and being trapped in a place like this? Who knew what damage he would do to keep them safe.
The man ahead of the group did nothing but stand there with a mocking grin on his face. It was unnerving, and dare say almost bloodthirsty. There was no amount of sanity or free will from where you all stood just a couple of yards away, and just that thought alone chilled you to the core.
“Corpse.. maybe you shouldn’t.” You stated, stepping closer to him to lower the risk of the strange man hearing the second part. “I don’t like the looks of that guy even from over here. We’ve already had to deal with a ton of crazy shit since finding each other. We can’t risk losing our only real muscle of the group.”
Ignoring the offended voices of Sean and Ludwig, the man with the torn mask looked at you only when you put a hand on his shoulder. It took sharing glances and seeing head shakes from most of the others to have him loosen the fist his hand was already in. Standing up straight, you watched as he rolled his shoulders, jaw still clenched from the tension. Rae was taking advantage of the off putting interaction and explored the small area, so capturing everyone’s attention when Corpse relaxed a bit wasn’t hard. “It’s gonna be a tight fit but I think we can make it work.”
“Whoa.”
“Where did you learn how to hotwire a car?” Ethan questioned, being the first to make his way toward the beaten vehicle.
“Video games?” The brunette answered, as if it was the most obvious thing in the world. She hit the side of the driver door twice, motioning to the group. “Now get your asses in here before that guy decides to pull a Resident Evil zombie sprint on us.”
“Yes ma’am.” Sykkuno saluted, earning chuckles that were a rare sight since ending up here. The two of you didn’t waste time in calling the front seats beside Rae and Ethan, forcing everyone else to get in the back of the truck and make it work. No one could complain, though, seeing the circumstances you were all in.
It took a few seconds of revving the seemingly old engine before the machine began making its way. You could actually hear the ones in the back shift around to get in more comfortable positions for however long a ride it would be. The girl behind the wheel didn’t pay any mind to the stranger that watched her drive you all away, but you did. And even when he continued to shrink in distance and eventually disappeared, you knew his words would stay with you.
“You’re wasting your time! No one gets out of Mirror City!!”

Siren Woods
a variety youtuber mini series
summary
seven internet personalities find themselves in the middle of an old town myth as they take a break from their careers and head up towards a rural mountain area. among every spooky or jumpy experience with a horror game here and there, never did any of them think they’d end up in this situation.
excerpt
The fire crackled with a sense of release, almost as if this large flame represented the time everyone needed away from their jobs. After how crazy the media has become the past few weeks, you and your friends agreed that a trip towards a much lesser known area would do you all well. It was a teenagers on summer break scene where everyone was gathered around a campfire in the backyard of a lake house, telling stories to either amuse or scare each other. Seán and Ethan were the first to do so, tag teaming in a very dramatic reenactment of the first time they met in person, which of course had to be followed by your own scene with Y/F/N.
Time flew by and before you knew it, the sun was completely set and the darkest shade of navy possible was barely lit with a crescent moon and a few stars. The only real source of light was the fire, illuminating the six faces in an orange glow. Any laughter died down minutes ago, leaving a silence that was comfortable for everyone. “You guys want to hear a funny story?”
Squinting at the man sitting in the log across from you, you leaned forward, hands folded in your lap. “Funny haha or funny we might want to kill you after we hear it?”
“Uh..” Corpse met your gaze immediately, his mask somehow looking more eerie with the natural lighting. “Funny kind of hoping you won’t kill me, if I’m being honest.” He confirmed, leaning forward himself to warm up his hands while the rest of you debated on whether to let him tell it.
After a few minutes, and three overtaking two, he was allowed to do so. It was an old myth of the town you all resided in for the week; a Slenderman type of entity of the forest that the locals from dozens of years before chose to call Siren Head. The name stuck once old photos were found and set up in the small museum in the Common. He stood at forty feet tall, with two megaphones for heads and tangled wires for a torso. He had the ability to perfectly mimic broadcasts, conversations, sirens and screams, and had been said to only emit white noise if ever asleep. Speed nearly matched that of a cheetah and his strength was unbelievably high due to his size. Every sighting of said species had only been released by victims, and it was an urban tale that stood alive to this very day.
Rae was on the grass now, legs crossed one over the other as she tried to look at everyone at once. “Why the hell did we all come to a place called Siren Woods, then?!”
“Well.. the town looked really nice online, and it’s living up to that. And I thought siren meant more mermaid than a freaky Creepypasta-type thing.” Sykkuno could do nothing but respond with nerves showing through his face and every subtle movement of his body as he explained why he ended up agreeing with the destination.
“Yeah, I did too.” Y/F/N piped in, shrugging her innocence as you all began telling your sides. “Who doesn’t think of a mermaid when you hear the word siren?! That’s basically what they are.”
“I, for one, think we should find another place to stay.” Ethan spoke up.
Seán gaped at his longest friend in the group, “You don’t actually believe in that.”
“I’m not taking any chances, dude. Those people believe in that thing enough to build a whole section of the museum for it.”
You watched your friends go back and forth, some freaked out by the story but not believing it was real while the rest wanted to find a new vacation spot. “What do you think, Y/N?”
You turned to Corpse, blinking as the simple question processed in your mind. “I’m with Ethan on this.. even if that thing isn’t an actual being the belief here is hardcore.” Three faces lit up in relief while the roommate, Irishman, and faceless internet persona felt differently. “Let me finish..” you sighed, “Let’s stay another night but keep an extra cautious eye on Spencer and Luna. Animals have a sort of sixth sense, so if anything weird happens they’ll warn us. Deal?”
Y/F/N shared a glance with you, letting out a sigh of her own. “Suddenly I’m feeling a lot better that we brought our dogs instead of getting sitters.” She bent down to pet the canines laying between the logs, hoping if they did bark it would just be from a resident knocking on the door.

The Gross, The Bad, and The Unforgivable
A review of Undercover Bromance by Lyssa Kay Adams
Let me start off by saying that this book has an instance of what clearly seems like sexual assault, wrapped up in a gloss of romance. Skip down to the “The Unforgivable” section for that information.
----
Normally, I don’t rate and review any books that I read for fear of poisoning the memory well. Normally, I wouldn’t rate and review a romance novel in particular, because it isn’t a genre with which I have much experience, nor is it one I have much love for. But the title and the fact that it showed up on a list of good romance novels for men from a source I trust made me pick it up in the first place. I’ve been trying to get deeper into the Writing Community online, and so many writers there are romance authors – and romance is such a popular genre generally – that I wanted to familiarize myself with the genre as I work on my own writing...
I’m making an exception to rating and reviewing this book because there were some truly, deeply problematic things going on here, on top of the bad/schlocky writing, and the gross descriptions so prevalent in my mind’s limited knowledge of what’s bad in the romance genre. So, in the following review I’m going to justify my one star rating of this book by describing The Gross [broadly, the terribly stomach-turning descriptions, characters, and plot points in this book], The Bad [the technical problems – especially in the plot], and The Unforgivable [the glossed-over sexual assault].
----
The Gross:
I’m going to jump right in on the most obvious issue I have with (my own idea of) romance novels: the sex scenes. But this isn’t going to be what you think it is; I am not a prude. Nothing turns my stomach faster than euphemistic language about body parts. “Her sex” is bad enough. This book also talked about running his fingers along “her slit.” But the description that almost made me hurl was “her pink bits.” Nope. Vomit. Say vulva. There is nothing gross about that word. A good sex scene is hard to write, and you don’t need to go full-on erotica (though honestly, I think hardcore erotica is far more enjoyable to read, more real, and sexier than the euphemistic stuff), but why have a very descriptive scene only to censor over the words everybody is paying their good money to read? Pick a lane. Give me actual adult sexual content, or have everything fade to black. Please?
I looked at a bunch of the reviews of this book, astounded as I was that it was so highly rated. Where language was used as a fault, the line “my vagina senses are tingling” was often cited. Cited as gross and crass. Sorry, this was a line I found truly funny and endearing, used as it was by a female character who was grossed out by the villain of the story, a serial sexual predator. To me, it was a great Spiderman reference, and an honest thing for a woman to say. I’ve heard such comments from female friends before. Seeing this comment from the romance reading community really saddens me, because not liking an honest use of body parts, but championing “pink parts” is only fueling the female body shaming that is so prevalent in our society.
“Now if you’ll excuse us, we have a happy ever after to start” is the line that ends the bulk of the novel, before the epilogue. Once you’ve scraped the vomit out of your mouth, there’s also the ending of the epilogue, where after the main character “proposes” off-handedly on the couch, they have sex, and then he asks her if that was a yes, and she confirms it, the narration says, “after she said yes he did things that made her say it a whole bunch of times naked.” Then they fist-bumped. End of novel. Yeah… Did I mention they’d only known each other for a little more than six months at this point? Yea, I think that’s kind of fast…
But romance novels are stereotypically bad in this department according to me, who knows little to nothing about them. What other gross stuff happened in this book? Let’s start with the male lead, Mack, who winks at everything in a skirt. There are paragraphs where he literally winks at the woman he’s talking to three times within said paragraph. She’s always super charmed. This is supposed to be endearing behavior. Then there are a whole chapter where the sex the characters are having is compared to the national anthem – wanting to sing it, wanting to wave a flag, saluting this with that appendage. Barf barf barf.
I could go on, but this book isn’t for me, really. I’ll just close with a line I really did like from the book: “Smells like a camel exhibit in here.” This line is said by the bros when they come in to rescue Mack from his depression on losing the girl, and they find him in squalor. This book could broadly be described as smelling like a camel exhibit.
 The Bad:
The biggest plot error I found in this book happened near the end. A group of the team is running to meet the “inside guy” who will distribute the dossier on the villain to the press as they march in to his book launch. They get there to find their inside guy knocked out, and another security guy holding the dossiers they were literally carrying to the meeting (he knocked him out to take them away, even though he didn’t know what was in them – not to mention that they weren’t actually there in the first place). Terrible editing!
There are other things – characters switching their mind on something deeply held from paragraph to paragraph, a convoluted plan to expose the sexual predator at his own event, and thinking that’s the only way to take the guy down, when in real life a reporter will take information at any time, not just when tricked into it. But it is the real lack of understanding of the human character that really bugged me.
The secret that Mack is carrying with him is that his father was abusive and murdered somebody, and is in jail. Mack changed his name out of embarrassment, and lies and tells people his father is dead. He is made into the villain towards the end of the book, because he “lied” to Liv, his love interest, about this. They had known each other for some time longer than a week and shorter than a month. They were not dating (she was adamant about that), and had slept together just twice. But he was a liar now, because he had a “secret identity” and lied about his father. People just accepted that that was a terrible thing to do. No! If that’s your past, it is yours, and you don’t owe that information to anybody that early in a relationship. Sure, you need to own up to it before you talk marriage, but not before you’ve started dating. This doesn’t have anything to do with his character, but his father’s. Shaming him for “not being honest” and having him have to come to terms with it, and be open about it publically, is just *not* something that he has to do. Weird morality here. I know it was stretched to add drama, but I think it does a disservice to his great trauma in life.
I don’t believe a group of people should take matters into their own hands to investigate a person on sexual harassment on behalf of other women. I don’t think they need to use their friend’s van (literally an FBI-style surveillance van that nobody seems to think it is weird that a friend just has – a van that never plays an important role except that it doesn’t drive fast). I also don’t think a former cop is going to play along in a game of entrapment with a bunch of youngsters out for the thrill of taking down a celebrity chef. I especially don’t think people are going to trust the “inside guy” who is the security guard for the big bad. There is absolutely nothing that any characters do (aside from taping the bad guy) that moves the plot forward. It is all them falling into luck or information that others provide. Everything happens to them. This is just not the makings of a well-written book.
The characters were also so bland and uniform, with the exception of “The Russian” who was all caricature and comic relief, and whose lactose intolerance goes into play when they almost got caught because of the smell of his fart while they were hiding. Hilarious? No. So juvenile. And also, it was from vegan cheese, which the author says “is still cheese” and thus causes him the same problem as cheese. Speaking as a chef, that’s not how lactose intolerance works.
And, can I quickly gripe about the fact that the tech whiz who can break into a computer in 2 minutes, take out the contents of said computer in 30 seconds, breaks down all the banking info in an hour to tie the sexual predator to dozens of victims financially, also says he will be unable to edit a video (literally cut it off at all), in the hour they have during a drive, so by showing the big bad to be the big bad, they will also expose Mack’s terrible history and show him too to be a liar? Remember, this is literally exposing that his dad was a bad guy… again, not seeing the problem for Mack (as if that would kill his reputation)… but also: press stop on the tape? In an hour I, a complete novice, could learn to edit video enough to be able to stop a video when I wanted it to stop. The drama was unnecessary, and the mechanism to achieve it is so utterly stupid.
I also don’t love the fact that it takes a group of men to save women who were the victims of sexual assault. I also don’t love the message that women have to be a certain way when it comes to coming forward (even though they try to say otherwise, it was very moralistic against anybody being quiet). I very much don’t love the fact that they called the sexual predator – who honestly had unwanted, forced sexual relations with many women – a mere “sexual harasser.”
 The Unforgiveable:
Let’s talk about consent. The second time the main characters have sex, Liv expressly says ‘hey, I haven’t given you consent to have sex again.’ He then says that fingering her isn’t sex. Then proceeds to finger her. Then grabs her, carries her to a bed insider her own house, and then has sex with her. Without actually obtaining consent. This isn’t even an instance of tacit consent, because both parties are acting in a certain way and advancing the same act. She literally denied him consent by saying he didn’t have it, and that was never cleared up. Even if she never said no again, that’s pretty terrible for him to just assume.
Also: this happened immediately after he just shows up at her house. They had had sex once. She said she’d call after 3 days. He comes over after two, not calling specifically because he said that she’d have probably said no to his coming over. It was dark, she thought he was an intruder. She hit him with a shoe. She has to apologize to him for hitting him, and clean him up. Hey. In my mind, this dude is a psycho at this point. If you don’t buy into the 3 days before a call, fine. But then you pick up the phone. Don’t just show up at a near-stranger’s house. Don’t do it at night. Don’t sneak up the stairs. And don’t get mad when she’d mad because you acted like a psycho. And then most certainly, listen to her when she says that you don’t have consent to have sex with her again, and go on fingering her immediately thereafter.
This book is bad on a lot of levels, but the sexual assault scene tarted up to look romantic just made me seethe inside, especially because this whole book attempted to be a “bros don’t let bros sexually assault women” morality tale.
Rating: 1 very dim star of 5

Gunjan Saxena — a Refresher on Women’s Place in the Military
The following is a piece by editor Radha Raheja
Content Warning: Misogyny, Sexual Assault
The Janhvi Kapoor-starrer “Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl” hit our Netflix screens this August. Succinct but erudite, this biopic is based on the life of one of the first female officers in the Indian Air Force, portraying Saxena’s struggles with sexism during her early days in the Force, leading up to the 1999 Kargil War.
Though she is (spoiler alert) successful in gaining the respect of her fellow colleagues by the end of the film, Saxena’s experience raises some important questions about women in defence positions. In February this year, the Supreme Court passed a landmark judgement allowing women officers to occupy commanding roles in the army, also extending other benefits previously reserved for men. Twenty years after the Kargil War, this is a welcome move, especially in light of the Central Government’s remarks opposing it. I count it as one of the few high points in the news cycle this year.
The movie shows both Gunjan and her brother being treated equally by their father — both receive his support in pursuing their dreams. But I am still struck by the words her brother says to her before she leaves for her first posting — “The world Papa has shown you is very different from the real world… the world sees officers [separate from] girls”.
And this world-view is evident as the movie progresses. The organisational structure of her IAF base doesn’t accommodate a second gender, and in turn allows existing male officers to exercise discriminatory control over Gunjan’s work and position. This ordeal is portrayed as curtly as possible, with the necessary highs and lows for dramatic purposes. It’s enough to make you root for the heroine but the movie leaves out any mention of something just as rampant but more harrowing — sexual assault in the defence forces.
A 2015 study involving 450 employees of the Indian Army reported that the behaviour of higher-ranking officers perpetuated crimes against female officers — among these were sexual harassment, assault, and rape. Twelve women reported such crimes between 2015-2017. However, taking into consideration the national average of unreported assault cases shown in government-released data, it is more than likely that the actual number may have been higher.
In the rare event that justice is served in due course, the conditions of said justice are arbitrary. As in the case of ex-Major General MS Jaswal, it is the Army whom General Court Martial officers must answer to, and receive final orders from. In this case, the orders amounted to a dismissal from duty and as per our research, no other judicial action was taken.
It is worth noting that the scope of this article is only around the condition of female officers in the Force, officers who are slowly walking shoulder-to -shoulder with their male colleagues. I leave speculation regarding similar crimes perpetuated outside the Forces up to the sensibilities of the reader.
Critics are lauding Gunjan Saxena as a war film unlike any other, for it rarely delves into the realms of hardcore nationalism or jingoism. It is, instead, a story of dreams, struggles, and realities like any other. It narrates without glorifying, and doesn’t expect idolization from its audience.
The three Armed Forces are often considered the pride of India. I remember, as a young child, I was encouraged by my parents to salute army personnel on the road if we passed them in our car. They are deserving of such respect — after all, they are the ones who step into work every single day ready to lay down their lives for our country.
However, Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl does the meaningful work of reminding us that all things considered, armed personnel are also people like me and you. Their workplaces are imperfect, their institutions are biased. We deal with the same problems in civilian society, highlighted in movements like the #MeToo campaign. Therefore, while we might place them on a pedestal, the Armed Forces should not be exempt from implementing necessary change and creating a culture of accountability.
No matter how sensitive, the conversation on women’s rights in the Forces should not just be relegated to a movie review.

DeanxCasxMeg:”Kiss or Kill” Chapter 1 (available on AO3)
Title: Kiss or Kill Pairing: DeanxCasxMeg Rating: Teen (nothing explicit but still some sexy stuff) Word count: So far 2000 words (the rest will be on AO3 when I finish it) Square: “Assassin/Hitman AU” @spnpolybingo Content Warning: non-graphic depictions of violence, guns, anxiety, premeditation
In our lives, there are days where we must step up and prove ourselves, not only to others, but to ourselves. That day has come, today, for Castiel Novak-Masters. He is about to take on his first big mission and prove himself to the rest of the organization. All he has to do is carry out what he had been taught since he joined the organization. All he has to do is kill one man.
Castiel himself will admit that despite the intensive training he’d followed, he has no clue how he’s going to do it. It was one thing to learn how to defend himself, and all the different ways to poison someone without leaving a trace, but it’s a whole different challenge to actually do it. Happily, he isn’t alone. His best friend, most trusted confident, and fiancée, Meg, would be there to help. Her company reassured Castiel a lot, but also reminded him of the stakes of this operation. If he succeeds, he will officially be part of the organization and will get to live the life he has planned with Meg. If he fails though, he will be forced to leave the organization and probably be “terminated”, never seeing his beloved future wife again.  The mere thought of losing her, is enough for him to be willing to do anything, even kill a stranger. It was selfish, he knew, but he couldn’t let one person, probably a terrible person, get between him and his plan. He lets that thought guide him while he packs his bag, sliding his knives between two sweaters and his pocket gun into it’s holster on his upper thigh. He slides on his long black trench coat, picks up his bag, and walks out of the door.
As he approaches the black Land Rover he can see Meg sitting in the driver’s seat smiling at him.
“Hey there angel !” she chimes as he opens the door to the car. “Ready for your big day?”
She punches him on the shoulder while he sits down. He smiles at her, trying to seem as confident as he can when he answers.
“You bet I am!  Mr…” he looks down towards the papers sitting between them trying to remember his target’s name “Jonathan Smith better watch out !”
She smiled lovingly at him, “Yes he better, because here comes the most badass couple in America !”
He looked at her surprised “You think we’re the most badass couple in America?” he chuckles, starting the car.
“Yeah, definitely ! I mean we’re trained assassins! How much more hardcore could there be?”
She had a point, there probably weren't many couples of professional killers in America, and if there were, he doubted they would be offended that they had appropriated the top spot. Real professionals certainly didn’t care about being the best or not, they just did their job. He hoped he'd be able to do the same.
During the drive, their conversations ranged from gossip from the organization to Meg counting the bullets in their carry-on bag out loud while Castiel tried to distract her, both purposefully avoiding the subject of how exactly they intended to use the bullets.
About half the way through the trip, they decided to stop to buy basic necessities, knowing their motel would probably not be high class. Their target moves a lot, never staying long in one location, but they had tracked him down to a motel in Michigan where he has been staying for a week. According to Castiel’s documentation, a week is a long stay for Johnathan Smith. He seemed to constantly be on the run. Perhaps he was fleeing something, or maybe even somebody? Castiel thought. It was quite ironic to think he had no clue they were the ones he should be scared of…
After thirteen hours of driving they finally arrived at the motel. It was exactly the way Castiel had imagined it: on the side of a state road, almost vacant, and not exactly at the hype of modern architecture, but surprisingly clean looking. He stretches, relieved to get out of the car and stand up after so long sitting. The couple walks up to the hotel clerk’s desk a calculated tired smile on their lips.
“Hello,” Meg salutes the lanky man behind the counter. “We’ll take your suite. We’re on our honeymoon !” she enthuses flashing her engagement ring at him.
Castiel can’t hold back a light scoff and rolls his eyes a bit when the man instantly perks up and books them the suite. Meg had been using the honeymoon excuse to get on people’s good side ever since they looked old enough for the part. He couldn’t believe how easily it worked, it was so cheesy. She would never admit it but Castiel knows, it’s her way of showing how much she appreciates him. Meg furiously defended her anti-“touchy-feely” façade, but deep down she was the sweetest and most caring woman he’d met. That’s one of the reasons he loved her so much.
In their kind of life, people don’t tend to be particularly faithful, and marriages don’t last long;  weddings are often spur of the moment choices, or lust motivated half promises. In an environment where violence was so common, love became violent too. The omnipresent fear of losing it all pushed them into a blaze of passion that rapidly burned away all the romance of what love is supposed to be. The stronger the flames the quicker the candle melts, they say… well somehow, Castiel and Meg’s candle burned bright but their flame has been steady for over 4 years.
Once alone in their room, they settle down. Castiel pulls the blinds down on their windows while Meg hides their weaponry in the empty closet. He then sets up a camera on the windowsill so they can insure they’re not being watched. Little by little, the basic motel room turns into a true assassin’s HQ.
Once all the suspicious material had been concealed, the two of them laid down on the double bed facing each other, silently taking in the sight of the other. Castiel looked tense.
“Nervous?” Meg asks, reaching out to caress Castiel’s cheek.
He nods lightly leaning in to the touch.
“Don’t be scared. I know it sounds difficult, but that’s because you’re thinking too much about it. You’ve always been a worrier…This guy will never know what hit him, you’ve trained your whole life for this. He’s no match for you.”
“That’s not the problem Meg… I’m just not sure what we’re doing is right… What has this man done to deserve to die? We barely know anything about him and we’re just going to execute him in cold blood?”
Meg looks at him taking in a deep breath before answering.
“I know it’s hard to accept the part of unknown in our job, but we are agents of the greater good, and we have to trust those in charge.”
She passed her fingers gently through his hair before going to the bathroom to change into sleepwear.
Castiel laid down and  took a deep breath, trying to calm the doubts that had started to grow in his mind. He was doing this for the greater good. He’s not doing this out of vengeance or personal gain. The organization wants the best for all. He repeated the organization’s motto to himself “The world is a garden, and we are it’s gardeners. Some evil seeds must be destroyed to keep the garden safe. The world is a garden…” The repetition of the familiar phrase calmed him enough to return to his usual self.
“You know what might make you feel a bit more confident?” Meg started, returning from the bathroom in a sateen slip.
He looked at her, his eyebrow cocked, curious to know what her miracle solution could be.
She poked his chest lightly, climbing on the bed to straddle him.
“Getting some testosterone flowing by enjoying some sweet sweet lovin’ with your future wife.” she offered in a seductive voice
He rolled his eyes at her offer, but still pulled her in for a kiss.
Her soft lips were so familiar, and the shape of her body, which he could feel through the light undergarment, was so comforting that for a moment he decided to indulge in a moment of softness before the horrors he would have to commit the next day.
Her hands slid behind his neck, rubbing soothing circles into the nape of his neck as she deepened the kiss. He let out a slight hum of approval in response. His hands slid under her nightgown meeting the silk of her thong. The blue one, he thought, my favorite.
He rolled them over and pulled her underwear off, tossing them to the side of the bed. Between two kisses he stopped to whisper in her ear “I think you were right again babe.”
She smiled and answered with a wink. “I always am Cas.”
The flow of oxytocin and adrenalin generated by having sex with Meg distracted Castiel from his fear of what was to come but, just as he started to give in to the post-coital haziness, the thought of the cold-blooded murder that awaited creeped back into his mind keeping him up most of the night.
They spent the next day finishing their preparatives for the task. Castiel made some phone calls to the rooms neighboring their target’s to inform them that the rooms they were in were suspected of having toxic molds in them and that they had to evacuate as quickly as possible for their safety. Clearing those rooms was essential. They couldn’t have any accidental witnesses or have them call in noise complaints and get them arrested so close to their goal. Meg took upon herself to break into the motel’s main supply closet to “borrow” a maid’s outfit and janitor’s trolley. Upon seeing her return with all the stolen material, Castiel froze in a sudden access of panic.
“What did you steal all that stuff for? You’re going to get us caught!” he accused
She put a hand on his shoulder trying to calm his nerves. “Chill… Nobody will notice this stuff disappearing, and we’ve got to have some sort of excuse to show up in this guy’s room.”
Castiel sighed unable to formulate any valid opposition.
“So we go give him a visit tonight ?” she offered
“Why would the cleaning staff show up in the middle of the night?” he asked “Your disguise idea is good, but in that case we need to change the timeline and move the actual task to tomorrow morning. This offsets everything we planned… What if they move new people into the rooms we cleared? What if the nocturnal activity alerts the desk clerk ?”
She hadn’t thought of that. She might have just compromised it all, she realized, but she refused to give up so easily on their original timeline.
“This guy, from what we know, is no genius… I mean we have no records of him going to any highschool. Who’s to say he wouldn’t believe we’re just passing by for a quick clean? We could say that other guests have complained because of an odor and that we’re there to investigate on it.” Meg offered.
Castiel shook his head. “Even a child wouldn’t believe that. Motel cleaning staff aren’t paid enough to work night shifts like that… I think we should stick to the original plan of breaking into the room, but just include the outfits as well as a back up. Maintenance probably has the keys to every room so that would explain how we got in.”
Meg nodded. It was far from the fool-proof plans they had learned to elaborate during their Organization training but it’s the best they had.

“Get Down Ladies, You’ve Got Nothing to Lose” - this is mostly iconic female fronted rock songs!
“Hangin’ With the Skate Bitches” - the soundtrack to one of my all time favorite films, Skate Bitches, which you can watch here! a mix of female fronted punk and girly singers because why the hell not.
“Punk Girls Rocking Their Pretty Socks Off” - mostly iconic songs from feminist girl bands!
“Don’t Fucking Touch Me” - my beautiful talented amazing girlfriend whom i love made this playlist and it’s a mix of anthem-y and obscure feminist punk songs.
“Skate Witchez” - i made this one, it’s mostly female fronted and it’s basically just to rock out to.
Political Punk:
“Wave The Flag and Cowardly Salute” - you would think that cishet white men didn’t have that much to be politically angry about and yet this playlist consists entirely of their music. still a good playlist to get angry to and with some political punk anthems, i’m just cynical.
“VIVA LA REVOLUTION” - i made this one!! it’s political punk about a variety of subjects and unlike the above playlist includes people from many backgrounds angry about many things.
“Punk Rock Animal Liberation Rules Okay!” - angry vegan punk playlist by yours truly.
“Civil Disobedience” - this isn’t really a playlist, it’s just a compilation of a bunch of political punk songs that i wanted to have in an easy to listen to format.
Other:
“Ghoul’s Night Out” - mostly street punk+hardcore punk, good for jamming out to.
“Android Girl” - some good female fronted bands in here!!
“PUNK O WEEN” - this is a halloween playlist that i made that’s really just random somewhat spooky songs but mostly just songs to rock out to
My top 2016 songs off spotify - here’s what I listened to in 2016!!

When your hand slips on those keys
(Written for the one, true ship trash master, I figured it’s good to share this with anyone else who has the same taste in police trash as us so ey lmao and since I don’t have a proper account to be posting it on, y’all just have to deal with it here oh well)
Ship: Fallershipping (Officer Looker/Chief Anabel) --as if this isn’t obvious. Contains: Hardcore blushing and sweet hand holding. Yeah, we’re getting crazy tonight kiddos.
I haven’t written proper fanfiction in ages forgive me
__________________________________________________________________
Outside, the air held a steady coolness. Visible puffs of breath curling in the air before him, the officer was oddly enough rather warm and content. From behind him he could hear the music beat to life—nothing fast and energetic but smooth and melodic, easy listening as some call it, and Looker shrugged to himself that maybe the only reason he even bothered coming to these damn ballrooms anymore was solely for the live entertainment.
Years ago, it would have been a far different story. A loved on in hand, together they'd twirl to the swinging beat of a snare and the flare of a trumpet, all the way to the soft and slow twinkling of piano keys. That was years ago. Over a decade even. Everything had been different back then. Looker, a mere young man at the time, had been a novice in his field. His eyes still burned with an innocent excitement back then that had since died out with years of trauma, heartbreak and failure on countless missions and cases. No more. He was not the same innocent young cadet he was years ago, even if the uniform snug to his frame was almost the same. Mentally, he traded far too much to get to where he was with in the International Police without much realization. A home, a life, a family, even. He was worn far too thin, and the mask the pain, he'd burrow himself deeper and deeper into his work. Physically, there wasn't much aside from a touch of aging and a kiss of exhaustion anymore. The same formal uniform that he had danced in years ago still fit (much to his amazement), but had since been decorated with a pair of golden-threaded chevrons on his right, mirroring the International Police Globe on his left. In all his years, Looker was still rather low in the grand scheme of ranks: the chevrons boring his status of a mere Senior Officer, a Field Agent, and a Detective all bundled into a single entity. He never minded his place. It was his duty. He wasn't restricted to a desk or stuck in meetings all the time. He was out in the open world where he wanted to be, even if it was dangerous. He got to throw himself out there and give his passion and will to protecting and fighting for others who couldn’t. That was the whole point, he wanted to make a difference, no matter how small or how big.
Looker smiled at the thought, but perhaps it was just the alcohol sloshing slightly in his gut. Another breath curled in a white haze before him as he turned to head back inside, suddenly catching the eye of another figure passing though the door. He tensed in an automatic salute, "Chief!"
The young woman shook her head as she walked, tossing a slender hand haphazardly though the air as he strode over beside him, "Looker, you know you don't need to be formal with me, right?" Her tone look a slight warmth to it; reassurance, even. It was common occurrence and by this point Anabel was quite used to it. Looker was a rather textbook kind of guy, and would grow rigid, ready to bow practically at anyone of authority, including herself. She worked to always try and let him be a bit more human during their meetings instead of a lifeless robot like the other officials had beaten into him, but old habits always died hard.
Still, he was getting better. And as if on cue, he gave her a slightly flustered look and began, "Ah, I am sorry. It is of a habit, Chief!" Only now at realization, did his stone stature begin to crumble and his shoulders relaxed. He did this almost every time, and never once did Anabel get irritated. In fact, she found it rather endearing—not that she'd ever bring herself to admit it.
Both of them now leaning against the edge of the balcony, on looking where the edge of bright city skyscrapers gave way to a dense and dark forest beyond, the young woman shivered, "Jeez, how long have you been out here, it's freezing!"
Looker couldn't help but crack a slight smile in response, turning to meet her gaze, "I enjoy the cold weather, to be rather honest."
"I mean, you're normally wearing your coat but still, it's—ah!" She shivered, unable to finish her thought, but it was still here. It was too cold for her. She longed for the tropical, warm weather that they were blessed to get in their time in the Alola region, much to Looker's disgust and dismay ("Ah, I am sorry but I am in need to turning up the power on the air-conditioner. It is far too warm for my liking."). Maybe if he didn't wear that heavily coat on an island.
…Which made her realize after long had the words already left her lips, but… Looker wasn't wearing his signature coat. Instead, he donned the official International Police uniform just as she had. Suddenly she felt out of place. The rest of the women, officers of the law or not, graced the floor with stunning gowns and elegant beauty. They looked lovely, and so did the gentlemen, most of whom cloaked themselves in their formal uniforms just as Looker did. While she, personally, preferred the tattered, old coat over his shoulders, she couldn’t lie—he looked absolutely dashing.
"…Chief?" Looker's concerned voice snapped her to attention. She blinked and gawked up at him with surprise. He stifled back a slightly laughter and suddenly she felt a strange awakening of Butterfree fluttering in her stomach. "I am sorry and you seemed rather deep in thought, but, uh, I figured I would ask…"
There was a tint of flush playing on his cheeks, thankfully, to Looker, masked by the soft, dim light above them both. His voice faltered and trailed off, and while it wasn't unusual for his verbal hesitation, tonight it felt… different. He wasn't offering an alternate plan to a mission, he wasn't working on a criminal report with her—those were all work oriented tasks that required him to speak directly to authority. And while it more than plausible that the same hesitation overtook the veteran officer, it was more likely that Anabel was reading too far into it. She felt her face slowly grow warmer and warmer with each passing second and she silently blamed the half a glass of champagne she drank even though she was more than aware that wasn't the culprit behind this.
Finally, Looker continued, "If… If it not too far out of line for myself to ask, heh… w-would you care to, erm… dance, Chief?"
Anabel blinked and Looker felt himself extend a rough, usually study, but now shaky and skittish, hand in offering, a goofy grin playing on his lips. She could see him, even in the dim lighting. Oh…! The Butterfree now going rampant in her gut, her lips stretching to match his grin. Unbeknownst to her, Looker held the very same excitement in his stomach as well.
"Hm… b-but…" She finally spoke up, both their smiles dropping with the soft words. Looker's mood shifted to eternal panic. But I'm higher rank than you. But people will say something. But it's unprofessional.
Gods, why did I ever bother…
Looker nearly dropped his hand but paused as he heard, "…But, I can't really dance…" A skittish confession on her part.
He beamed once more, and stiffened his hand in a reformation of his offer, "…So?" His voice sounded smooth, sanded down to hide the cracks of fear and doubt before it even left his lips, "I am not too well myself, but… who cares? I can attempt to teach you… ah, if you would like!" The childish excitement resurfaced between them, as if nothing fell out of beat. A content, peaceful silence engulfed the two of them before Looker finally added more seriously, "Besides, if you are cold, Chief, it is wise to bring you back inside where it is warm. I would rather upset if you were to get sick because of me."
There he went, being his over-protective self again. Normally, she'd turn the attitude to match his, telling him to get inside and not catch a cold as well. But she merely sighed. It was a fun night, even if she did come alone. One night of doting over this foolish man's safety and just having a good time would be allowed. She laughed and accepted his hand, slender smooth gloved fingers intertwined with large, rough ones. Looker moved to head back inside but stopped when he felt the tug of Anabel having stayed rooted where she was. In response to his confused expression, she merely shrugged lightly, the lopsided smile still residing on her lips, "To be honest Looker, I'm not even really cold anymore."

You'll start your mastering session with a two observe stereo mix of your track ideally with the grasp degree peaking at about -3db by no means hitting the purple on the meter. This combine should already be sounding the way in which you need whereas needing a boost in quantity & possibly a couple EQ tweaks to make it translate well to various sound techniques/sources.

If you hearken to your mix on these sources pay attention for frequency issues that have a tendency to show up on a number of sound sources as these are the first things it's best to work on with the EQ.
It's best to attempt trial & error to seek out the frequencies and bear in mind it's all the time better to repair by reducing the offensive sounds then by boosting other frequencies to cowl them.

Georgia’s Long Lines – The New York Times
Want to get The Morning by email? Here’s the sign-up.
Good morning. Republicans are considering their own police reforms. Brazil’s president is threatening a military takeover. And Georgia’s primary was a mess.
Chloe Mexile Benard got in line to vote in the Atlanta suburbs at 7:30 a.m. yesterday, according to The Guardian. She did not vote until almost noon.
Marneia Mitchell, a stationery designer in Atlanta, was starting her fourth hour of waiting in line when she told The Times, “It’s despicable.”
And Greg Bluestein, a politics reporter at the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, called yesterday’s primary elections in Georgia “like nothing we’ve ever experienced.”
In several counties around Atlanta, voting machines malfunctioned, and thin staffing because of the coronavirus left fewer poll workers to deal with it. As a result, many Georgia residents had to choose between enduring hours in line or losing their right to vote.
Yesterday’s problems were worse than usual — partly a result of recently bought voting machines — but were also part of a much larger issue. In no other affluent country do citizens regularly have as hard a time voting as they do in the United States. Most of our elections are held on workdays, and a shortage of election equipment and workers often forces people to wait in long lines.
The waits tend to be longest for African-Americans. One study of the 2016 election, using smartphone location data, found that voters in black neighborhoods waited 29 percent longer on average than voters in white neighborhoods.
And as was the case in the 1950s and ’60s, Georgia has again become a battleground over voting rights. In the 2018 midterms, the state had the country’s longest waiting times, according to a Bipartisan Policy Center analysis. Republicans in Georgia, who control most of the state government, have frequently opposed efforts by Democrats to make voting more accessible.
It was not fully clear why yesterday’s lines were worse in the Atlanta area than elsewhere in Georgia. Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger, a Republican, blamed local officials — who are heavily Democratic — and said they had not properly trained election workers. Local officials, in turn, blamed him, saying he had not provided adequate training resources. Virus fears among election workers and high turnout, after George Floyd’s killing, may also have played a role.
“No corner of the state had a fully functional voting experience,” The Times reported. Michael McDonald, an elections expert at the University of Florida, wrote: “I have never seen the scale of election failures happening in Georgia today. This does not bode well for November.”
In yesterday’s election results:
THREE MORE BIG STORIES
1. Republicans respond to police violence
Senate Republican leaders have assigned Tim Scott of South Carolina, their only black member, to lead the drafting of legislation that conservatives could rally behind.
Republicans face a dilemma: For decades, they have built an image as tough on crime, and it has helped them win many elections, often by winning the votes of whites who previously voted Democratic. But public opinion has shifted significantly, amid growing video evidence of police brutality and racism, and Republicans are trying to figure out how much to change their stance. For now, several congressional Republicans have changed their tone but not yet supported new policies.
In other politics news:
President Trump floated a false theory that a 75-year-old man in Buffalo who had been knocked to the ground by the police was “an ANTIFA provocateur.”
A group of white counterprotesters in New Jersey, appearing in front of a pro-Trump sign, mocked Floyd’s death, with one man kneeling on the neck of another who was facedown on the ground. One of the counterprotesters was a corrections officers and was quickly suspended.
Democrats are increasing their pressure on Joe Biden to pick a black running mate.
2. Funeral for George Floyd
Two weeks after Floyd died at the hands of Minneapolis police officers, he was laid to rest in Houston, in a grave next to his mother’s. Two rows of police officers saluted as Floyd’s coffin went past. (The Times recently profiled Floyd’s life.)
As the service began, the New York Stock Exchange went silent for eight minutes, 46 seconds — the length of time a police officer held his knee on Floyd’s neck. It was the longest moment of silence on the stock exchange floor in its 228-year history.
3. The threat to Brazil’s democracy
Daily coronavirus deaths in Brazil are now the highest in the world. Investors are fleeing. And President Jair Bolsonaro and his allies are under investigation.
In response to the chaos, Bolsonaro is raising the prospect of military intervention to protect his grip on power — an ominous prospect for a country that was under a military dictatorship as recently as the 1980s.
More on the virus: A Times graphic compares the death toll to the toll from historical disasters.
Here’s what else is happening
The founder of CrossFit, Greg Glassman, has resigned, after BuzzFeed News published the details of a call with gym owners in which he maligned Floyd and shared coronavirus conspiracy theories.
Paramount Television canceled “Cops,” the once-popular reality show that ran for 33 seasons and that civil rights groups criticized for its portrayal of African-Americans. Separately, HBO pulled “Gone With the Wind” from its new streaming service, but pledged to bring back the 1939 film that romanticizes the Civil War-era South “with a discussion of its historical context.”
Lives lived: Bonnie Pointer was there at the creation, when she and her siblings decided to form a vocal group called simply the Pointer Sisters. But before the 1970s were out, she had left the group to pursue a solo career. And then they hit it big, without her. She has died at 69.
BACK STORY: Facial recognition
IBM announced this week that it opposes using facial recognition for mass surveillance and racial profiling. We talked to our colleague Shira Ovide, who writes The Times’s On Tech newsletter, about the problems with the technology.
“Facial recognition is terrible at identifying people with darker skin,” Shira said, pointing out that some research found it has no better than a 50-50 chance. “And there’s a dangerous tendency to over-rely on this kind of technology, even when it’s not accurate.”
She added: “We don’t know when facial recognition is misused. What if law enforcement agencies use it to identify people who are attending peaceful protests, like the ones happening now? Do we want to live in a surveillance state where everyone is in a vast database and we can be identified on sight at a massive scale?” That, of course, is the situation that China’s government is trying to create.
PLAY, WATCH, EAT, STREAM
How to feed a crowd
A key part of the Sikh religion is providing free meals as an act of faith, and many gurdwaras — the places of worship for Sikhs — have large kitchens, ample numbers of volunteers and regular food donations from community members. Some gurdwaras serve more than 100,000 people every day.
This tradition has enabled Sikh communities across the U.S. to respond to the increase in hunger caused by the pandemic, while many food banks have struggled, Priya Krishna writes.
Reckonings in culture
In the publishing world, a viral hashtag this week encouraged black and nonblack authors to compare their pay, in an effort to highlight inequality. One example: A white science fiction writer said he had received $3.4 million for 13 books — more than $260,000 per novel — while a black female author said she had received $25,000 for each installment of her award-winning science fiction trilogy.
In theater, more than 300 artists — including stars like Viola Davis and Lin-Manuel Miranda — published a statement that outlined how artists of color are unjustly treated.
A guide to TV streaming bundles
Inspired by this clever interactive from Bloomberg about the best streaming bundles, we asked Adrienne Maxwell, an editor at Wirecutter, to offer advice to anyone who’s gotten rid of cable television or is thinking of doing so:
When trying to decide whether or not to cut the cord and what services to subscribe to, I think the first question anyone should ask is whether they still want access to live TV and, especially, sports. Hardcore fans who love to watch a variety of sports and want access to their local affiliate broadcasts are probably better off sticking with cable.
If live TV is not something you care about, then it really does come down to personal viewing preferences. The beauty of streaming is that you aren’t locked into a contract, so you can subscribe to one service for a couple months, get caught up on their exclusive content that you love, then cancel and switch to another service.
But if you’re more of a “set it once and forget it” type, I’d say some combination of Netflix, Hulu, and Disney+ is likely to be the most satisfying for the most people.
Here is Wirecutter’s more detailed guide.
