mayhaps a Witch Hat/Howl's Moving Castle fusion?
Ooooh not only is this a FUN one but it is one I have thought about before!
Before Coco got herself cursed, she’d always thought she’d live and die a tailor in that little town, where nothing exciting actually happened. The most interesting thing to ever happen to Market Chipping was when the train station got built ten years ago, and when people come out from Kingbury and Kahln. Coco is willing to believe that interesting things happen, of course, but interesting things don’t happen to her— they happen to interesting people. Like witches!!
This is what she tells herself, to keep herself from getting too bored.
Actually, the most interesting thing to happen in Market Chipping happened three months ago, when the girl down the street saw the Wizard Agate’s castle in the fog creeping about the hills— but that’s terrifying, not not interesting at all.
They say the Wizard Agate eats the heart of any pretty girl she finds out on her own, that she peels the magic from other witches, that she does all manner of madness in her quest for power.
But, well, Coco isn’t a pretty girl anymore, now that she’s nineteen-going-on-ninety, and she was never a witch to start out with. And she can’t bother her poor mother with all this, not after that business with placing her sisters in nice apprenticeships. Maybe the Wizard will even feel like breaking her curse! Maybe the Wizard will teach her some magic! Not wizardry, since you have to be born with the talent to be a wizard, but maybe a bit of witchcraft!
Probably she won’t, but being an old lady is good for hope! What’s the worst that will happen, anyways?
“Who the hell are you?” The woman— Wizard Agate, since it couldn’t be anyone else but her— said. She was, shockingly, wearing trousers. Coco couldn’t imagine ever being so scandalous, but she figured one must get used to it after some time.
Oh no.
“I’m your new cleaning lady!” Coco said.
Wizard Agate took a long drink of whatever was in her mug. “Why,” she said, but not like a question.
“Because you need one,” Coco said, and since Wizard Agate hadn’t eaten her heart yet, she dared a little further. “Really badly.”
Wizard Agate pinched the bridge of her nose and sighed, dramatically and showily. “Fine, whatever.”
Coco would have danced in joy if her bones didn’t protest to the thought. “I promise you won’t regret it!” She said.
“I already do,” the Wizard said, and reached behind Coco to shut the door. She was taller than Coco, as she was, and probably would’ve been taller than Coco as she had been, too. Her outfit made her look even taller, long straight pants with pin folds that went all the way up to a long blue and silver vest over a fine shirt with flounces on the sleeves.

Sometimes I remember that Superman is Vaguely Allergic to Magic and that his goth boyfriend is a magnet for Spooky Occult Nonsense. (Also was this supposed to be a Halloween comic? Yes. Did I draw all of it except the last like, three panels before Halloween? Also yes. Did I then procrastinate on those last three panels until January? Ehhhhhh, what's with all the questions, I ain't committed no crime!)

My opinion on the finale episodes below the cut. Obviously spoiler warning lol
First of all. I see people say it was really underwhelming and i kinda have to agree? It wasnt a Bad ending or a lazy one or whatever words have been thrown around tho imo. I feel like with all the hype about how "painful" and emotional itll be from the VA and from everyone, we all just expected more tragic outcomes or something.
I am dissappointed because of that as well. I liked how Simon finally reflected a bit and had some self awareness about their situation with Betty. I loved that he didnt become Ice King again or that they didnt do some actual time travel to "fix" stuff. I also liked that they didnt necessarily made him a bad husband (?/boyfriend?) he kinda just never realised that Betty has been putting more into their duo than he was.
That doesnt make him innocent tho b4 someone comes at me. He was a bit too self absorbed but i dont think he was entirely selfish either. He was a person who made mistakes and didnt realise them. The line where he said smt like "i wish we could have talked like this before" also makes it pretty clear to me that Betty never really spoke up about these things either. Golbetty had to make him aware and tbh? I think that was more Golb than Betty.
The whole Scarab ordeal felt a bit. Ehhhhhh I dont know. His anger reaction to things suddenly becoming "canon" (lmao) was very nice to see but him being allowed to wreck havoc like that for a good while felt more like an excuse to bring the others into this world. I dont have a problem with it btw i just dont see the point why we need Farmwold Jay and Little... I forgot her name damn. Also whys Babyworld Finn here 😭 (i get it, he was in the tank, i dont mean literally i mean Why)
As much as i was soooo mad when LSP freed the scarabs it was very in character. I like how it was a thing that he likes animals from the start so it wasnt senseless stupidity, it was something he would do even tho it was the wrong thing to do. Made me pause and lay down to stare at the ceiling in frustration for a solid minute i cant lie, still in chacter tho.
But alas. I like how in the end it all didnt turn magical (completely since ig its partially magical with Cake and everything else) and how Cake finally cooled down about the crown. IM ALSO SO HAPPY THEY KEEP IN TOUCH WITH SIMON OVER THE PHONEEE!! But yea him wanting to move was so real and I hope he does lmao he deserves it.
I only kinda wish they made him reconnect with Marcy a bit more. I am actually pretty dissappointed that we dont know if he ended up reaching out to her more or not. I understand his situation with not wanting to spook her, i actually feel that bit in a soul connecting level good god, but idk. Im at least happy he is Literally in therapy now
(Kinda makes me wonder tho if he spent the time between the end of AT and the start of FC with no like therapist or psychologist. Just rawdogging his mental illness about everything. Mood tbh but like did he? Did he??)
Anyway despite my slight dissappointment i am actually pretty happy with the outcome. I really liked the theories and the ideas of how Simon may make FC magical or what he will become but tbh this is probably the best outcome. Everyone got a happy/hopeful ending (minus Farmwold Finn ig who im atp assuming is dead. Also Star Marceline and PB) which i am really REALLY happy about.
I gotta say I already wanna write fanfic about these guys so inspirational effect granted. Woooo.
Tldr
I was kinda dissappointed because it was overhyped about how emotional it will be when it really wasnt but other than that I am really happy about how the ending turned out save for the alternatives staying in FC
Edit: I SEE PEOPLE TALK ABOUT THE WHOLE SHOW DONT TELL THING AND TBHHH??? TTTTBBBHHHH??? YEAH. IT WAS ALL JUST TALKED ABOUT LIKE WHAT ABOUT SYMBOLISM? MY GOD.
Also Simon had like 10 minutes to get closure with Betty which was horrifically rushed but again, when your wife turns into Basically God you kinda dont really have a choice to chit chat. Still not happy about it but again, could have been worse. Could have been much worse.

i haven’t made a proper toh text post in a while but i was going off about this on discord and twitter so now i am bringing it here:
What the hell happened with Luz’s cape?
Tumblr media
Just like. everything involving it. It was heavily underused in the series (Luz herself only wore it in four episodes, three of them being in Season 2A) despite its importance as a representation of Luz’s connection to Eda (and in my opinion, the demon realm as a whole), and was later passed down to King, only for it to inexplicably disappear anyways.
So under the cut, I’m gonna provide a detailed history of the cape and every instance in which it was used, to try and make any sense of what happened to it.
Starting with Agony of a Witch, Eda is first seen preparing witch’s wool to knit a cloak out of. According to her, it “repels powerful spells”, so it apparently has actual function aside from looking cool as shit. Luz wants the cloak, but Eda insists that she herself needs it to ward off the increased attacks from the Emperor’s Coven. However, later thinking of Luz’s kindness and devotion to her wellness, Eda decides to make the cloak for Luz instead, as a gift.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Next is Young Blood Old Souls, where Eda is currently captured. Finding the finished cape (I’m gonna call it a cape from now on), Luz is inspired by Eda’s gift and their bond to go on a rescue mission to get Eda back. This is the first episode where Luz herself wears the cape, but it’s also this episode where there’s a noticable flaw; the cape just looks cool.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We skip to Lilith and King getting captured and the “fight” between Luz and Belos, and he opens by teleporting behind Luz and flinging her against the wall with magic of his own. The cape seemingly does nothing to hinder this.
Tumblr media
Here, you could probably chalk it up to Belos’ red magic being artificial (since he’s a human and all), which is why it was able to pierce through the cape that was made to counter magic. Fine. So Luz rescues Eda, King, and Lilith and that wraps up Season 1.
Fast forward to Echoes of the Past, the third episode of Season 2 and the first one of the season in which Luz wears the cape. She goes to King’s old island along with Lilith and Hooty to find out about King’s past and stuff. The biggest threat of danger they face there is Jean-Luc, who attacks not with magic, but with polymorphism by shifting into various shapes to attack. No magic involved means no chance for the cape to do its thing.
Tumblr media
Fast forward again to our next episode, Hunting Palismans (or Palismen, whatever). In this one, Luz goes out at night in her cape and pajamas with Flapjack and later gets scooped up by Hunter along with the rest of the palismen. Once again, the wonkass red magic that Hunter also uses pierces through Luz's cape. The later fight with Kikimora (who uses actual magic) doesn't count, as Luz had put her cape away.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Fast forward yet again to our next episode: Yesterday's Lie, the last episode of Season 2A and the very last episode that features Luz wearing the cape. In this one, Luz is in no inherent danger, as she spends almost the entire episode in the Realm of Inbetween while Vee and Camila must contend with Jacob’s nonsense. Sometime during Luz’s final conversation with Camila before being pulled back, though, the cape itself gets stained and torn with several holes in it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And such is the last time we see Luz wear the Witch’s Wool cape. It had a good run of four episodes spaced out from eachother, but you may be wondering, “What happened after this?” That is where things get… ehhhhhh.
Tumblr media
The next appearance of the cape is about halfway through Season 2B, in Hollow Mind. Near the beginning of the episode, Luz, Eda, and King go out to the Night Market to buy some Witch’s Wool to repair the cape. Unfortunately, Prim the shopkeeper closed up to join the Oracle Coven. Oopsie poopsie.
That’s all we see from the cape this episode. Which brings us to the very last episode that the cape appears in, in the strangest situation possible: Clouds on the Horizon.
Tumblr media
In their last moments all together for a long time, it is shown that Eda fixed up the cape herself by shortening the cape to remove the torn bits. It’s also here where the cape goes to its final owner: King. Everything looks spelled out clearly; the cape is now too short for Luz to wear ( D: ), so it goes to King. Simple right? Surely it will come up later as a plot point. King will at least be shown wearing it throughout the episode, right?
Wrong.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Not even a minute after King is given the cape, it completely, inexplicably disappears during the commercial break. When we cut to Luz, King, and Katya descending into the forest, the cape is literally nowhere to be seen. Actual video proof.
And this is the last time we ever see the cape. No seriously, it never shows up again. Not with King during his stay with the Collector. Not with Eda as she hides out with Lilith in the Archive House up in the sky. Not even four years later, when Luz is seen packing up her closest belongings as she prepares to attend the University of Wild Magic, does it even make a cameo.
Tumblr media
I think this might be the owl house equivalent of Araki Forgot Syndrome. How the hell does one introduce a physical attribute of Luz's character that represent not only her ties to the Demon Realm, but her bond with Eda, the witch who guided her through this new world, only to severely underuse it, show nothing of its function, write it off as broken, and then have it disappear from existence. We had a good thing. We had a badass cape, it had meaning, we had everything we needed and it all ran like clockwork.
Tumblr media
And it was hyped up, too. The original poster for Season 2 of the show had Luz front and center wearing the cape, and it was even included in the brand new animation provided for the same season's opening sequence.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Alas, the show has been over for a long time now, so there's not a lot that can happen now. We can only hope that in some post-canon spinoff/continuation or another Reddit AMA the whereabouts of this marvelous piece of fabric are addressed, because I will continue to rag about this at any given chance. Be thankful that I don't use the rest of this post to rag about what happened to any part of Luz's original outfit to begin with.

a return to square 1
now that we’ve all been thoroughly blasted by the Rise movie I can take another stab at being more thoughtful in designing Venus for Rise.
first, a refresher:
prologue | part 1 | part 2 | part 2 ½ | part 3 | part 4a | part 4b (ish?)
supplementary doodles: 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5
just gonna go full AU divergence, let whoever Big Mama’s Assistant be whoever (after thinking it over, it does sorta seem to more likely it’s Jennika), still gonna keep her start as an initiate, acolyte-adjacent, monk-ish kid running around in the Hidden City, ward to the crow yokai who adopted her as a foundling.
We never saw who Draxum’s bodyguard was, they were alluded to during a crew discussion only (unless I missed a design reveal somewhere). in the same vein that me and a bunch of others I’ve seen that think Assistant is Jennika based... pretty much on those claws at the end of her hands, then the bodyguard could be mostly likely be Venus. i’m basing that theory on the very very VERY scant information we have from the show, 1) Draxum is adept at the mystic arts from magical item manipulation to summoning to.... I dunno, what do you call it when he set up the memory dive into Splinter’s mind? he can draw magic circles and operate them as seen when he had to move the boys to another memory.
2) dude wears Venus’ signature cyan post-team switch, can’t scream foreshadowing louder than that
3) Draxum straight up opens a portal to another plane to let the Hamatos go in and snatch up sword!Karai, original Venus taught the boys how to dreamwalk and guided them through a dream plane, ehh? ehhhhhh? *eyebrow waggle*
4) to me, the most record scratch, eyebrow quirking part: he uses armored bees just as Venus did in the original Next Mutation show. Venus’ armored bees and Draxum’s both were used to ensnare and trap opponents. though to concede, Venus’ exploded into a sticky goo, Draxum’s apparently auto-dug into the ground and sprouted as vines
the trip up for me in designing is what exactly “Draxum’s bodyguard” means. the first time I thought about it I had imagined as Draxum taking a younger Venus under his wing, teaching her (give or take realizing she was one of his anti-humanity soldier experiments), becoming his protege of sorts, prrrobably committed to his cause, becoming adept enough in both her mystic and physical prowess and takes it upon herself to protect him.. just real wuxia tropey about it.
but like... Draxum’s cool with hiring muscle, re: Garm and Freki so why wouldn’t he also just hire a bodyguard. it would make more sense this way but it depends on some characterization I’m shaky on for Draxum. he believed in his cause enough to go to Optimus, Arcee and Megatron (I forgot what those giant head characters were called only that their VAs voiced those transformers sry kids) for support. after that, I thought that maybe he’d be a little more discerning about who he recruits to bolster his plans which would be a little more lenient to my original idea.
...
fuck it we ball au divergence, wuxia tropey protege > disciple > adamant protector pipeline it is.

... not related to any of that except in a "I'm deep in my bullshit and taking screenshots about it, which inevitably sinks me deeper into my bullshit" kind of way: I still think it's interesting that the Sea of the Castout does not feature on the Orphan Queen-era map in the illustrated flashback sequence
Tumblr media
I did a big-ass post about this back after s4 because I'm the kind of crazy person who could immediately name where the map from Rex Igneous's tooth pointed without having to look it up, and because it was and still is super fucking conspicuous that it's not here: the theory was that the Sea of the Castout was created specifically to house Aaravos's prison. However, this now causes a huge timeline discrepancy, because Ripples, which it seems pretty firm is describing the formation of the Sea of the Castout, is also pretty firmly describing it as being pre-Elarion, or at least pre-golden age. At the very, very latest, it is pre-expulsion, which would still put it 300+ years earlier than this map appears.
But like, this isn't a case of "they slapped a filter on the map graphic (which tbh I would not be surprised if they did) and the Sea of the Castout didn't have an outline good enough to register"... the rivers on this map are accurate in fairly extreme detail, and we can see both bodies of water that lie between the Storm Spire and Umber Tor. There isn't a hint of the Sea of the Castout or the five rivers that lead to it. If this was a filter issue, we'd have something. So unless it was arbitrarily erased... it's not part of this map. It's a feature that either doesn't exist or humans don't know about.
Now, we could make the argument that it's unlikely humans would have accurate maps of the inland features of Xadia that are far from the Border or a coast, but... again, those are some really fucking accurate rivers. The map also can't be older than the expulsion, because it shows both the Border and all the major cities of the human kingdoms.
Is the "new sea" mentioned in Ripples a different body of water somewhere on the map, maybe Weeping Bay? (ehhhhhh...???) Does the magic protecting information about Aaravos include maps? (That would be very inconvenient.) Am I just baffled by this but refuse to consider that it could be insignificant? (Yes.)

(question for elsie because I gen do not know what it is)
-mod kopi
Haiiii okay okay okay so
An explanation of…all of this. Logistics included.
Maho Shoujos!
The name “magical girl” or “Maho Shoujo” comes from a trope in anime. They’re typically girls (often but not always teenaged) who transform into (often but not always really pretty and feminine) powered-up forms (often but not always with a classic “magical girl transformation sequence”) to fight for…like, Justice and love and stuff!
Typical example: PRETTY CURE!! AAAAAA MY CHILDHOOD!!
Tumblr media
but like I said, they’re not always girls!
Tumblr media
Cure wing my beloved I have never watched your show nor do I know your personality but if anything happened to you I would cry
anyways even the guys tend to be effeminate but ehhhhhh I ignore that for this.
The magical girls are usually fighting sadness itself, which (despite the fact that the shows’ tones tend to be very lighthearted and all-ages-friendly) can be handled with surprising maturity. Pretty cure is known for this. Note that animation in Japan is not as associated with children’s media as in the west, so stuff like Sailor moon (which…what age is sailor moon even for?? Like…guys???) can exist lol.
Madoka magica
ANYWAYS, every canon has its own rules, and Taocc runs on the Madoka system of magical girls!
Create a contract with this little guy, make your wish, and BAM! MAGICAL GIRL!
Tumblr media
What could go wrong? WELL I’LL TELL YOU.
You see, madoka is a subversion and a deconstruction of the genre!
(TW going forward for very dark themes concerning despair, depression, and suicide. As well as spoilers for the main series of madoka Magica and magireco, but not rebellion)
The “sadness beings” here are called witches, and they are HORRIFYING. And consistently brainwash and kill people en masse (one witch organizes the mass suicide of like 20 people it’s insane), or trap them in psychological nightmare fuel dimensions called “labyrinths”. It’s WACK /pos.
Magical girls fight witches to sustain their soul gems. The witches drop grief seeds, which “purify” the gem. It acts kind of like a power meter, magic well, and reflection of the girl’s sanity. What happens when the soul gem breaks? The girl dies. If it fully taints…well, where do you think the witches come from?
TL;DR, I’d you take the contract, you’re doomed to become an eldritch monster. The wish is fulfilled almost exactly as you wanted, but that often has consequences you didn’t expected. No monkey’s-paw shenanigans, just your own shortsightedness.
This seems like a good time to explain exactly what the madoka-Taocc lore/functionality is, because I play VERY fast and loose with it. Get ready for logistical MADNESS.
The Kyubey part functions as normal. Madoka’s epic sacrifice to “destroy all witches forever” DOES NOT FUNCTION IN TAOCC. I REPEAT, IF YOUR CHARACTER WITCHES OUT, THEY STAY A WITCH UNLESS THEIR SEED IS RECHARGED.
Rebellion is not canon/has not happened yet. If any of you have seen rebellion, you know the elephant in the room that would mess up everything.
The Doppel system from Magireco does function, but is powered down. You can summon a version of your witch form and use that to clear your soul gem, buuuut it’s not going to function as a replacement for grief seeds, and often goes very out of control. See: Kitsune during sun’s wedding.
A character can use a witch’s grief seed as a weapon. This is not canon at all to the madoka universe, and is Taocc exclusive. Possessing a grief seed allows you to use the witch’s weapon and some of their powers. Recharging the seed with grief enough allows the chance to summon the magical girl, but nobody else can see them or really interact with them.
The “familiars turning into witches” thing does not function here. No way am I getting into that.
Magireco is only somewhat canon, as an isolated timeline, and ONLY ARC 1 IS CANON AT ALL. The Doppel system works, but Infinite Iroha, like Madokami, basically does not exist for the sake of simplicity.
Yes, the world of madomagi is connected to the circus, but not in the same way as, say, the kingdom. To them, the circus is inside a computer. No, you cannot go there.
TBH, quick retcon: Kitsune’s old team’s names and personalities are not what they were up until now, they’re unnamed. She was the one who crashed sun’s wedding. Canon characters, for the sake of our sanity, do not functionally exist and will not be doing anything. Only the system exists in the circus.
Trust me, almost none of the mechanical/canon messes really exist to do anything but make things easier on me. The supplementary material makes things a logistical MESS, so almost none of it is canon except the doppels from magireco. I all but boiled the system down to its basic components for everyone’s sakes.
I am. This close. To decanonizing Madoka’s crossover and trying to just make an expy instead. For my own sanity.

Reverse-engineering Hokushin and Otake
I am very very close to finishing part 3 of fight / flight! So close…!! I decided to take a break with what was supposed to be a quick drawing but ended up going down reference rabbit holes oops. This is modern day (actual Yu Yu Hakusho series canon) Hokushin and Otake alongside my imagined early Kamakura-era versions of them in North Bound.
More commentary below the cut.
To figure out their relative heights, it was the usual game of Measuring Stick Yusuke, i.e., relying on the fact that every single character at some point has stood next to Yusuke, or next to someone who has stood next to Yusuke. In this case:
Hokushin is a head taller than Yusuke.
Otake is about half a head taller than adult Koenma.
Adult Koenma is half a head taller than Yusuke.
Therefore, Otake is about half a head taller than Hokushin. Success!!***
This is assuming nobody changed in height between 700 years ago and now lmao
(*** EDIT: I reread this post and was like, wait, what I wrote doesn't make sense. Measuring stick logic outlined above actually indicates that Hokushin and Otake would be about the same height lol. My logic failed. However, I went back to doublecheck my notes and the manga panels and "Otake is about half a head taller than adult Koenma" is little more than guesswork because they spend most of the time crouched next to each other and leaning slightly forward, so he could be anywhere from the same height to even a head taller. Ehhhhhh close enough. Again, 700 years, who's counting.)
Reverse engineering character designs to different ages/periods is always a fun exercise. Aside from new clothes, one of the easiest and most obvious things to do is to change up their hair! Super easy for these two. Give Hokushin hair, and shave Otake’s mustache off and give him a closer-to-period hairstyle instead of his Western-style cut. Done! But of course, a challenge is that for most visual storytelling purposes, you still need the character to be quickly recognizable.
To me, the really distinguishing aspect of Hokushin and Otake is how Togashi renders their eyes. This is where I find it particularly interesting, because both of them have very fixed eye styles. I personally struggle a lot with making them more expressive without feeling like I’m going super off-model. I have a lot more flexibility with Hokushin now because I’ve drawn him about a bajillion times, and through North Bound I’ve stretched the comfort level of how I can depict him. This is only Otake’s second appearance in North Bound (though it feels like a lot more because it’s taking me a while to draw all these parts of a story), so it’s been more challenging. Page 7 in fight / flight part 1 was difficult in terms of making him look intense. You can see what happens if I tried too hard to convey intensity with his eyes by checking out the sketch of the page - it doesn’t look like him anymore. (Sometimes that can work though, for drama especially when conveying something going off the wall and pushing their limits or shocking others with an about-face.)
Working through their designs allowed me to reflect on the parallels in their design and nature. Hokushin and Otake are both envoys of sorts for extremely ancient and powerful non-human masters, and naturally bring a lot of visual gravitas to that role. Neither of them are the sort of people who’re here to just chill and hang out, and their visual appearance and presence need to convey that.
Hokushin I’ve talked about before. Togashi draws him with these really low eyebrows and flat, dark eyes that almost never shift. This makes him look very serious, to the point of glowering. But through the magic of characterization, context and other little facial details, he feels a lot “softer” - friendlier and more approachable. On the flipside, Otake has very thick bushy eyebrows and beady eyes. His eyebrows are definitely much more mobile than Hokushin’s in the manga, and the styling has the potential of coming off almost comedic, but we never get that impression from him unless Togashi is actually drawing him in a situation where we’re intended to laugh at him (e.g., his reactions to Yusuke pretending to turn into an evil demon). Instead, he feels really serious - much more rigid and inflexible than Hokushin.
Part of this is due to reader perspective as well. Hokushin is a demon who eats humans, which is typically terrifying nightmare material. Otake, on the flipside, is the head of the Spirit World’s Special Defence Force, sent out to save the Human World and also stop a powerful demon from awakening, which sounds like a classic hero. But of course, Togashi has flipped them on their heads, at the most basic level simply by sheer virtue of their associations. Yusuke is the protagonist we’ve followed since volume 1; by the time we get to volume 16, we know him very well and have been rooting for him for all these pages. We can quickly recognize and identify his struggles even in challenging situations. Thus, Otake intent on killing Yusuke (permanently) makes us quick to judge him as villainous - or at the very least on the “wrong” side. Meanwhile, Hokushin appearing in Yusuke’s court, understanding Yusuke’s concerns and even giving answers that clearly align him with Yusuke’s values, immediately develops more benign associations. It’s interesting to compare and contrast them!

I disagree with how you’re defining Taylor’s hurt over if joe was delaying/wouldn’t marry her. It’s not that getting married would magically fix other issues, but that her main issue by the end was that she felt like he wasn’t prioritising her (bejewelled), he wasn’t choosing her (YLM), and she was rethinking that you don’t want nothing from me (sweet nothing), you don’t try at all though (ready for it) characteristic . The renegade line, ‘is it really your anxiety that stops you giving me everything, or do you just not want to?’ really wraps all that up.
She’d be angry about the marriage thing because it’s the prime example of him refusing to commit to her properly and orient around her needs like she did for him after 6 1/2 years, it’s contextualised by her general feeling of being neglected. And like midnights was out for months, her wants were like literally in the public domain so I don’t think it’s on her for not communicating. Anyway, basically it’s not that marriage is a fix all or that not wanting to be married or unsure still is automatically bad. But that it not happening just confirmed all the rest of it and it was the wake up call to her self proclaimed delusion that she was actually being fulfilled in this relationship. And I do think that if your partner is singing about getting married 3 years into your relationship and you don’t communicate for the next 3 and a half that that’s not what you want or you don’t address that properly if you’re not ready etc then you’re an asshole.
ehhhhhh. Ehhhhhhhhhh. I’m with you on some of this except for where you think he was supposed to know she’s communicating with him via Midnights or Lover. That’s not how people should communicate and not actually imo how Taylor communicates with her partners or even her friends. Like she obviously played say like Fifteen to Abi before she released it - she didn’t out that to millions of people without a convo with her first or communicate that publicly immediately. I think the lack of communication they obviously had was NOT what we have in the public domain. Same as like Adele’s 30 yk wasn’t what she told her ex husband lol. It’s all artistic expression??

"Welcome home!" Sella answered from the kitchen, while Leysritt waved at them. "A friend of Hakuno is checking on her, so don't make a fuss, okay?" Illya and Kuro exchanged a look. "I bet it's Rin." Kuro whispered in Illya's ear. "Why?" Illya whispered back. "Are you blind? They're all over each other!" "Eh? It looked like they just argue a lot." "That's called sexual tension! Geez, you're such a child, Illya." The two continued to argue until they reached the second floor. "Shhh." Kuro sent her a michevious grin and pointed at Hakuno's door. Illya approached the door with her, and the two leaned against it. "…Idiot! What are you saying?" They could faintly hear hear Rin's voice. She sounded angry… no, embarrassed? "We both know you feel the same!" They heard Hakuno's voice, were they arguing? "Hohoho. Feelings? Now things are heating up-" Ruby pulled out of Illya's bag to listen on the conversation. "It wouldn't work out…" Rin's voice was too low to hear. "Mages… humans…" "Raise your voice a little!" Illya whispered, frustrated. She wanted to hear the whole thing. "It will. Let's just try." "I'm sick of this suspense! I'm going to watch!" Ruby moved to the keyhole and let out a gasp. "Oh my!" "What is it?!" Illya and Kuro tried pushing her away, only to slam their heads into each other. "Let me see!" Illya grabbed Ruby and threw her away and stole her spot. "Eh…. Ehhhhhh?!" "What is it?!" Kuro pushed her away and gasped. "EH?!" "I can't… I can't allow this!" Illya pushed the door open, causing Kuro to fall flat on her face. Hakuno and Rin pulled away from their kiss, flushing at the sudden intervention. "I-I-I-ILLYA?" The heat in Rin's face reached its peak, and she pushed Hakuno away, causing her to fall off the bed. "Ow." "I CAN'T LET YOU STEAL HAKUNEE!" In a fit of rage, Illya took her magical girl form. "Wait a second Illya, let's talk-" Rin was blasted away before she could respond. Kuro whisteled. "Hope that kills her. It would be funny."

Okay, ships... Malleyuu
Riddle x Floyd, Keqing x Ganyu, and I remember you mentioning there was a couple in milgram? I don't remember their names, all ik is the guy has blue-ish hair I think 😭
no actually i will do one for malleyuu bc this is my personal blog and i'm feeling brave enough to talk about my opinions here
Tumblr media
listen. i LOVED malleyuu back in 2020-2021 and i still think their dynamic is adorable in theory but i really don't like what is happening to their dynamic at the moment. first of all, i'm not a fan of what's happening to malleus's character and second of all, there's just. too much malleyuu. like i'm genuinely starting to like any other yuu ships more simply bc they don't have malleus and they already sound more original to me. also i really hate how some fans are saying "but this game IS about malleyuu, malleus is your canon love interest!!!", NO THIS GAME IS ABOUT MAGIC AND SOLVING OTHER STUDENTS' PROBLEMS EVEN THOUGH YOU'RE NOT A THERAPIST. so yeah anyway rolloyuu though- *i get slapped*
Tumblr media
my relationship with riddle x floyd is like. it sounds fun in theory but it's also kinda ehhhhhh.. like basically i want riddle to have a partner who can teach him to have fun and relax a little but also i want him to stay sane while dating that person. i guess they're like a cute fun little ship to me but i can't really see them in a serious relationship? seth x riddle supremacy 😌✨
Tumblr media
i either absolutely love genshin ships, hate them or just don't get them at all and keqing x ganyu is the third one for me 😭 like they look very aesthetically pleasing together and i think their personalities would go together well, but i just don't really understand it? i like the fan content i see with them, but i don't think i find them interesting enough to make any content with them myself 😔
Tumblr media
OKAY OKAY SO milgram doesn't really have any canon couples except like. those characters who had lovers before arriving there and tbh i actually thought that 0104 have some romantic elements at first because it did sound like that to me and as we know my tiny brain likes to make everything about romance. sorry mahiru kinnie things but now i think they're more like. in a platonic but very toxic and codependent relationship? they're a mother and son actually /j (or maybe not /j. idk what's going on in haruka's head anymore but i don't think he's joking) either way i would love to write a whole essay about them because something about relationships like that makes me go insane like i'm sorry 😭😭 i want to put them in a lab and study them. i want to learn more about them. i want to see what will happen to them in season 3. i think i'm okay with both platonic and romantic versions of this ship honestly like i'm a little freak okay!! i'm a little crazy!!

I don’t know the ghouls :|
I'm gonna assume you mean, uhh, my siblings in the band? And that's okej, it's hard to know them. I'm not the sort of guy who likes to blame the fandom for everything, buuuut the nicknames y'all (not you specifically, anon, I mean 'y'all' in the sense of everyone else I am gesturing too but yo cannot see my gestures) do tend to create confusions. I will try, then, to to my best to tell you who is who.
For starters, all of us are simply ghouls. We do not have names. Nameless Ghouls is just what we are, as you are (I am assuming) a Named Human. We all are really fucking low tier demons. See, to have a name is to have power, and to know a name is to have power over a demon. Never tell a demon or any magic folk you name! Basic survival knowledge, right there. But us, the Nameless Ghouls? We are essentially sorta, ehhhhhh, practice summons. Baby's first demons. Without names we are quickly called into existence and dismissed just as fast. No fuss, no muss. In the earliest days of the church, they found that summoning ghouls for manual labour and land maintenance and such was far easier than hiring peoples or training them, and since we don't eat or sleep, y'know, we didn't need housing quarters or payments... I say 'we' in the sense of, uhhh, all ghouls, not in the sense that I was there in the beginning. I didn't emerge from Hell until, um, I think it was 1960? Maybe? I don't do so well with time, eheeheheh.
Anyways... So, nicknames. I gotta start this with explaining that all ghouls are created in Hell with an elemental tether to bind us to the Earth so our summon and subsequent existence on the planet is without issue. Every ghoul is either of Fire, Water, Air, Earth, or the Aether. I myself am a Fire Ghoul, which mostly means that every now and then I must set myself on fire in order to keep stable while I'm here... Is kinda like refreshing your router, so to say. Um, when the band project first began, Papa Nihil used a Fire Ghoul, a Water Ghoul, an Earth Ghoul, and an Air Ghoul. And when the band failed much like everything else in that old fuck's life, the ghouls were dismissed back to Hell, which is to be unmade and rendered back into the spooky goo we were called from. Kinda sucks but that's, y'know, how it is.
And then when the band program was reinstated, Imperator and the other higher-ups figured ghouls was the best thing for it, since, again, it meant no paycheques or food or hotel rooms to budget out. An Aether Ghoul was added, and those ghouls who worked under Papa Emeritus the First were sorta, inherited, I guess, by the subsequent Papas. I myself was brought on as spokesghoul due to my amazing ability to talk a whole fucking lot. Well, there's other reasons, but I'm tryin' real hard to stay focused on your problem, here...
When Papa Emeritus the Third came aboard, he decided the Nameless Ghouls needed fancier duds and faces. I helped with the shapeshifting and camouflage learning- all us ghouls have a degree of glamouring ability, which in the past I have likened to the abilities of cuttlefish, as we can only really alter the colour and texture of our forms and not, uhhh, turn ourselves into, um, Beetlejuicey monstery nonsense- but Papa the Third also had sashes made, each embroidered with the elemental, uhh, element, of each ghoul. This, I think, is where the nicknames started happened. This is where y'all (again, broadly speaking) began calling them, y'know, "Earth" and "Water" and such. And then "Alpha" and "Omega" due to some instrument stickers, but those are gone, so nobody use 'em any more, but they do, an' they ain't gonna start listening to my pleas any time soon.
Let's see... The drummer ghoul has always been an Earth Ghoul. Lately it is called Mountain. The bassist has always been a Water Ghoul, lately called Rain. The Air Ghouls have always been on keyboards, the ones who are called Ghoulettes now are referred to as Cirrus, Cumulus, and Sunshine... The Ghoul that provides additional guitars and vocals and tambourines, this is a Water Ghoul, new since Prequelle, and is called "Swiss" due to it's multifunctional, uhhh, function. Black guitar is Aether- some of y'all call it Quintessence but c'mon, Aether is easier to spell... Honestly I don't know where it is "Dew" for the Fire Ghoul guitarist came from, but it's stuck so much that I myself refer to it as Dew. And there are other names you might here, but I think the fandom has made these up for era-specifics, which I don't get, but you do you, as the kids say.
I myself, too, am very much Nameless, but was bestowed the nickname of "Special" by Imperator and Nihil themselves! They used to really like me, eheheehheehehehh...
Is this at all what you were lookin' for????
