Twi'lek ear cones rant

Ugh, I just want to get this off my chest...

I DON'T like the idea of twi'leks ear cones. It's just such a random concept.

Where did the idea of ear cones come from? The first twi'leks we ever saw were Bib Fortuna, Oola, and Lyn Me in RotJ. Bib didn't wear a headdress and he had ears. Oola and Lyn Me both had headdresses, but only Oola had cones and they were white, not green, and clearly part of her headdress.

It wasn't until the prequels that twi'leks with cones the same color as their skin appeared, and we never saw a twi'lek with ear cones without the headdress.

I believe all twi'leks - male and female - were supposed to have ears. The headdresses could just be a cultural thing, like hijabs and turbans, and the skin-colored cones are just purely decorative.

AND THAT IS WHAT I'M STICKING WITH.
