lupin gets muscle cramps/injuries really easily from exercise, whenever the gang has to run to escape a heist he always ends up pulling something and has to rest for at least a day

it's funny when you think about it

How ironic it all is.

When Lupin died the first time, and Zeni told him, Jigen basically looses his mind with almost a manic outburst calling Lupin a selfish prick and Zenigata is confused

He watches Jigen pace back and force gripping his hat hard on his head and Zenigata asks him what the hell he's talking about

And Jigen looks at him all crazed and states that Lupin died on purpose and Zenigata is confused even WORSE

and Jigen ends up explaining that when the decision was made to take care of Lupins leg, that Jigen had told him that if he was gonna die, to take him with him

"So?!

"Nothing happened until now, the fucker did that on purpose, the moment i left his side?!"

then it hits Jigen

wait. . .Lupin died

Wait.

Even after pulling a mental double– no, triple-take, those two words never quite settle in Jigen’s mind. Instead it worked to recontextualize, putting them into words that he could understand.

It didn’t last for very long,

but for a brief moment

you existed in a world where Lupin no longer did.

and you weren't even there with him

But the thing is. Is, Lupin may have been cynical and jaded at times but he was never cruel, he wouldn't intentionally leave Jigen behind

Jigen knows that.

He knows that and it’s why he kills the thought as quickly as it morphs cause he knows Lupin better then that.

He would never do this to spite him, or to intentionally be cruel to him.

He does it to spare Jigen

In some sick way.

"Nothing happened until now, the fucker did that on purpose, the moment i left his side?!"

Nothing happened

Whether or not Lupin ever did that intentionally he didn’t but it’s funny to think it Jigen doesn’t know, but it’s part of the reason why some small part thinks Lupins cruel.

To leave when he’s not there.

Their partners, their suppose to be together until the end

Lupin knows that

Which is also why Jigen doesn’t think it was intentional on Lupins part to conveniently decide to die when he’s not there.

It really wasn’t

it was just crappy timing along with other determining factors Because like ive said, Lupins not cruel Lupins cynical, but not cruel.

Whatever happened in that ambulance was just a tragic coincidence. Zenigata never should have had Lupin moved when he did. He was too unstable, and Zeni knew that, he was warned so many times about the stress and the effect it would have on the outcome, but Zeni trusted his gut.

His gut only happened to be partially right this time.

But no matter what, it was a near tragic coincidence, Lupin didn’t intentionally wait until Jigen was far away to just collectively attempt to sneak his way into the afterlife.

But Lupin wouldn’t have minded it if that was the case. . .

Lupin often gets confused about how he truly wants to die. He has many ideas of how he wants to go out, but there are often two retaining factors regarding each variable.

1) He wants to die someplace familiar that he knows. That’s mostly because of his need for repetition; familiarity. Maybe where his first heist was.

2) He also wants Jigen by his side, he definitely knows that. He’s been friends with that man for years now. It’s fitting

But then comes the dilemma Because in the same breathe, he also doesn’t want Jigen with him when he goes.

He knows what his death would do to him if he ever did die while Jigen was still alive.

He knows it would break him.

He knows there would be no chance in the rest of the gang getting the old Jigen back

He doesn’t want that

He doesn’t want Jigen to just sit by and watch him die. And he knows Jigen would do that at the expense of his own emotions and well-being.

But at the same time. . .he doesn’t want to die alone

also for tips when sketching: id say to draw the base for lupin and fujiko's heads as circles, jigen and zenigata's as squares and goemon's as a circle but a lil longer if that makes sense??????????

first some deaths that im not suuuuree if ive posted about? but theyre ones im still thinking on

jigen dying from a parasite attached to his spine: literally just that. either he dies from the parasite itself or dies from someone trying to cut it out of his back

jigen dying after a surgeon replaces all of his organs with animal ones (ie replacing his heart with a sheep's): i have. no idea how this would take place JKHJGH considering giving this to lupin instead bc of this next one

lupin dying in a hospital after being tortured: this one's actually kinda thought out bc this was originally an idea for LJS. basically lupin is kidnapped and kept in a basement, originally in LJS the kidnappers cut his fake eye out and mail it to the gang but for this idk what theyd do instead JKHJGH hes p much just beat within an inch of his life until the gang come to save him. then he dies. bleh

fujiko dying from a parasite in her womb: this was originally a lupin death where a parasite in his intestine leeches mind altering toxin into his blood to make him believe hes somehow pregnant bc he is. stupid JKHJGHFG but now its the same thing but in fujiko's womb instead, it ends with it bursting out through her abdomen when shes being driven to the hospital :) yippee

and lastly zenigata being choked to death by jigen: idr if ive talked about this yet but during a heist zeni catches jig while hes trying to run off with lupin, and to buy lupin time he manages to get zeni on the ground n tries to knock him out. he ends up going into like. a fugue state n goes overboard choking him till he hemorrhages, once jigen snaps out of it he runs off, pukes behind the building, and tries to catch up with lupin (and never tells anyone what he did)

also a little while ago i attempted writing out the tldr on the sequence of events but. barely got anywhere JKHJGH so heres that:

okay so all the lupin iii characters are so bizzarly well written it drives me up the wall. ive never seen any other media like this before and i think that comes from the fact that it's an old piece of media-- before the time of everything must sell toys, appeal to mass market, and be polished as fuck. thus, more freedom and more weird BULLSHIT which i adore.

so. all the characters are perfect in their own ways but zenigata is also wonderful. i think it's cause they all have um. ok. a "gap moe" and it's a BIG one and that makes it super funny!

so Zenigata is this big, manly, cop, right? so you'd THINK he's super serious an-- NOPE HE'S LITERALLY THE CUTEST STUPIDEST FUCKING IDIOT ANIMAL I'VE EVER SEEN IN MY LIFE.

A Year of Lupin

Part 4

Part IV: The Italian Adventure

My favorite series of the Lupin franchise. The adventures mainly take place in Italy, and I absolutely love it! The main story went from one place to another, and the side stories were incredible. The opening of this Lupin is the best version of the Lupin theme. The animation style is so creative along with the color palette. The Japanese and English cast were brilliant. The music score of Yuji Ohno is amazing as always, but it's not included in the English dub. I recommend watching both to get the best of both worlds but also, I really love this Lupin so much.

Part V: Misadventures in France

Lupin is back with modern technology. The stories are treated like episodes themselves with multiple episodes telling the main story. The filler episodes are also great where we see Lupin in different jacket colors. I'm not a fan with certain things in the series like the treatment of Ami and the finale didn't feel complete with quick resolutions. The references in this series were good, but when they were a part of a main story, I didn't like that. Still, the concept of Lupin being in the social media wasn't bad. I just wish some things were done better. Everything from the cast, music, and animation is the same as before: wonderful.

Prison of the Past

This special blew my expectations. I love this style of the animation, the story was incredible with its action along with the lore of the county the gang are in, and some characters in this special were great. It's on the same level as Tokyo Crisis; I have a lot of fun watching a prison break, royalty mysteries, and stolen treasure.

Is Lupin Still Burning?

The OVA is a celebration the 50th anniversary of Lupin Part 1, Is Lupin Burning. They reuse the same premise but add time travel that can affect Lupin's future. It's pretty cool to see how far Lupin has come as a franchise with the animation evolving and the bond that the gang share will always be the same.

Lupin the Third: The First

The first Lupin movie in CG, and it was delightful. I was worried that the CG wouldn't be good, but they have made it so good to translate the antics and expressions that the Lupin universe has. It wasn't stiff and basic; it was fluid and detailed. The story was good, and both sub & dub cast were incredible. Laetitia was so sweet, and I hope she gets to excel in Boston University.

Part VI

The most recent of the Lupin franchise where Lupin cross paths with Sherlock Holmes and his mother. There were two story arcs in this show, and I think it could have worked if they didn't have a lot of filler episodes. There were unanswered things that were never mentioned again; however, I like the finale better than Part 5. The animation was mostly fine, but all those CG cars were terrible. The cast were great, and for the Japanese cast, I enjoy Akio Otsuka's performance as Jigen. I'm glad they gave a farewell to Kiyoshi Kobayashi. Overall, it was good series and can't wait to see the gang again.

LUPIN III - THE FOURTH

Aka "Lupin's extended family bullies him live on TV"

Y'all remember Maki from Blood Seal - Eternal Mermaid?

☝️ This awesome kiddo who spent half of the movie harassing Lupin into taking her as an apprentice? And who was actually quite good at thieving, good enough that she managed to get to Lupin's target by her own means?

I think she should become Lupin IV.

...And I might have gotten a bit carried away.

Yes they all call themselves Lupin IV. Yes there is an explanation to that. The explanation is to bully Lupin.

Maki: master thief, and leader of the Gang. The actual official Lupin IV as far as the Lupin succession line is concerned. Outgoing and bubbly, a determination that can break though walls. (Blood Seal - Eternal Mermaid)

Ami: tech expert and hacker. Likes to pretend she has no feelings. (Part 5)

Julia: social engineer/people person. Very strong personality and very confident. (Farewell to Nostradamus)

Kenny: gunman. Very loyal, inherited Jigen's "knight in shining armour" complex. (Part 6)

Murasaki: medic. Too tired for this bullshit but is actually having fun. A ray of sunshine. (The Fuma Conspiracy)

Long story short:

Growing up Maki never stops wanting to become a thief. By the time she's an adult, she's actually gotten quite good at it.

One day she runs by chance into Ami, and learns about how much Lupin changed her life. And how many other children - now adults their age - he impacted as well.

Maki sets out to find as many of them as she can, and founds her own thieving gang.

But Maki doesn't only have skills like Lupin's, she also has his knack for causing problems. So once she's assembled her team of "Kids Lupin Left Behind And Who Also Like Causing Problems", she goes out to find Rebecca Rosselini, aka Lupin's almost-but-not-exactly-divorced-wife (Part 4).

"Rebecca," she says, "do you mayhaps want to annoy the heck out of Lupin for funsies?"

"Boy do I!" replies Rebecca. "What do you need from me?"

"Oh nothing much," says Maki. "Just a little signature on these four adoption forms."

And thus Maki, Ami, Julia and Kenny legally acquire the last name Lupin. And all officially declare themselves Lupin the Fourth.

Lupin is fuming, Zenigata is having a stroke, the rest of the LupGang are laughing their asses off.

Murasaki is there too because these kids need a responsible adult.

Lupin: Any lady because tiddies. Bayonetta specifically because Violent Lady + tiddies = happy Lupin Jigen: Cloud Strife (wholly biased bc Cloud's my main BUT I HAVE A GOOD REASON alright he's a good distance fighter that you can build up a Fucking Powerful counter if you stick to the edge of the fight and I feel like Jigen would be real good at that also bc cloud is very hot) Goemon: At first he'd go for Ryu bc he's like, the closest he'd get to a samurai, but then he'd see Marth and Lucina with their dope-ass swords and Immediately pivot Fujiko: Incineroar, Palutena, and Sheik in that order. Neither she nor I will explain why. Zenigata: Mario. Because he's a basic bitch and the only one he recognizes. I'm sorry I don't make the rules (I do tho and he is). Or Kirby because he is very cute

i dont play nearly enough smash to extend on this but yes i 100% agree with this KJHJGH

and finally, the lupin post. as usual, this is reformatted from my picsart otome route posts that i make whenever i finish a route.

spoiler warning for lupin’s route in code: realize guardian of rebirth under the cut!

first of all, not a lot of otome games (at least ones ive played) leave one route to be the final and wont even let you unlock it until youve completed the others but with that being said. i think lupins route is absolutely worth it and definetely fitting as the final route. its very rewarding, especially in how it wraps up the story iin satisfying manner, while still leaving you curious and wanting to play more.

also. lupin is such a charismatic character with so much personality and charm. hes very entertaining to watch. i do wish we had gotten a little more on his backstory or something to give him just a biiiittt more depth other than one monologue but regardless, hes still a very likeable character overall.

one of the things i noticed right off the bat (and something i almost always mention in these posts) was the romantic aspects. phenomenal. him and cardia just have so much chemistry and it works so well. that whole scene with cardia confiding in him about how she was a monster and he assured her that she was huma. and then they said they loved each other. dude. or on the airship when he kisses her hat??????? they just work so well together.

i also loved how his route like? combines certain aspects and endings from other routes. like we get to see the antagonists from other routes and each character dealing with them on the nautilus. very fitting for the final route.

also throughout this whole route, i really liked impey and victors dynamic. like i had first sorta noticed it in ch 8 right before the route starts when they go off talking together about science and engineering, then later in lupins route they seem to have gotten closer and often fight together during battles, for example, the fight with nemo on the nautilus. idk. i just really enjoy their dynamic.

also finis. good lord. there was. so much interesting information about him in this route. you can sorta pick up on this from other routes, but in this one you really start to see just how bad his inferiority complex is. and its extremely well written imo. like hes done so much for his father, yet isaac still likes cardia more, and obviously thats hard for him to understand. so he takes it out on cardia as if its her fault. and he does whatever hes told in hopes that when isaac’s plan is finally put into action, his father will love him. i also really like the way they build up and leave hints towards him being immortal in the other routes (esp vans), but you dont really understand how it works until this route when he finally explains it and its just. literally terrifying. like that scene is INSANE.

i also really liked the monologue talking about isaac, his wife, and cardia and finis as kids. its just. very interesting.

and quick bonus from the picsart post i made when i had finished everything including extra scenarios since i had saved them for the end:

just fully finished guardian of rebirth including extra scenarios and i will never emotionally recover from this. this game is seriously. so beautiful. like theres no other word to describe it. its just so beautiful through and through. like. there has only been one other otome game that ive been so thoroughly invested in. its taken me a long time to finish it purely because ive grown so extremely attatched to these characters. (so long infact, that theres no impey route post because i played his before i even started to do these posts) i am. beyond excited to play future blessings and wintertide miracles.

this is so cringefail but. i simply love this game and these characters and this story. also, floatable is. absolutely one of the best otome ops imo. iconic. and code realize has got to have one of my favourite ensembles out of any media imo. like lupin gang is up there with the rfa. their dynamic is just so perfect. these characters are so complex and beautifully written and just so so entertaining to watch. this game is so perfect.
