Osamu apologizes to the door when his shoulder grazes it. The impact causes him to stumble on his already heavy feet. It’s been a long and eventful night of brotherhood, by blood and by choice.

It’s not often that all his friends are in Japan at the same time, even less common that they are all in Hyogo together.

Suna spends half his time in the States to keep his sister company while she studies and Aran just started a family. If he had a baby girl as cute as her, Osamu wouldn’t leave either.

And his brother. Osamu looks to his right, glancing at Atsumu, disheveled in a spectacular way that makes even browsing the prepared foods section of a 7-11 stupidly attractive, has been hopping on planes for brand deals and photo shoots. The world so obviously understands his brother’s appeal and so do the streets. He’s been hit on at least four times this night by both genders.

Don’t tell Atsumu, but Osamu is glad he never went pro. This sort of spotlight was meant for him. His brother shines brightly under its focus and Osamu is grateful he didn’t stick around to his sully it.

Regardless, all things happen with reason. This life granted them both fulfillment. The life gave him you.

“What are ya gonna get?” Atsumu kicks his foot for attention and Osamu has to stop the impulse to stomp on it knowing full well that the single shoe alone costs more than Osamu’s whole outfit.

He glances at his options and chooses immediately.

“Eel,” he says simply while swiping at the warm package.

“I was thinking of getting that.” Atsumu slides his hands into his pockets, pulling his already stretched out jeans taut. “I’ll get yakisoba then.”

That means Atsumu’s going to ask for half of his. He thinks on it. Sure, yakisoba and eel sound find.

“What does she want?”

“Who?”

If only the world could see the ugly faces that Atsumu can actually pull. His brother snarls at him as if he’s offended.

“Ya fucking wife, dumbass.” Atsumu grabs the bento in his hand with obvious aggression, “what do ya think she wants?”

It’s not often that his own brother surprises him.

“Egg sandwich? I heard her talking about it the other day.”

“Oh… yeah.”

Atsumu snickers and once he picks up the item, nudges him with an elbow. “I know ya wife better than ya. Ya gotta be better than that.”

Now that’s taking it too far. Osamu reels back to pummel Atsumu into a full body shove but then his brother turns on him, quiet and thankful.

“I love her. She’s a good one.” The blonde brother pats Osamu’s back. This touch is softer and full of affection. It’s what you do to him, clean up his edges, tame him. And it’s clear, despite your lack of presence, it’s what you do to his brother as well.

“She treats ya so well. It’s the least I could do.”

Atsumu turns around, hands full with their late night dinner and proceeds to checkout.

Osamu follows in awe. Hands empty, heart full.
