One thing I particularly like about The Invisible Life of Addie Larue is that Luc is right ; Addie shaped him.
She gave it a shape and a name.
I'm convinced that Luc didn't have a name before Addie gave him Luc's, or perhaps a very old name unpronounceable to humans, who knows. Or simply a title to designate the creature he is. But personally, I don't think he had any. After all, his first response to Addie's question was why he should have a name, not the one that he shouldn't tell her. Especially since if names do indeed have power in this universe as Addie and Luc say, it should be noted that yes, in the rest of the story Addie has power over Luc. Just letting her name it gave her power. It is precisely after this point in the book that the relationship really evolves. I don't think it's a coincidence. Names have power, and Addie begins to have a real influence on Luc after giving him one. (Therefore reinforcing my interpretation that he actually didn't have a name before Addie)
Also, she gave her a shape.
He have been used to taking on an appearance based on the people he met, and or simply speaking while remaining among the shadows, but strangely after taking on an appearance for Addie, he sometimes kept it beyond of her. This can be seen the first time he meets Henry. He presumably maintains the appearance Addie gave him outside of when he sees her. Which for a being such as Luc, is not nothing. Without forgetting the quote according to which Luc is deprived of stars at night, and that Addie, through her freckles, is rightly associated with the stars. Addie therefore helps complete Luc.

Don’t text me: just cried my eyes out finishing The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue. I honestly struggled trying to finish this book just because it’s not what I usually read, but the last 50 or so pages had me crying the whole time. I even had a feeling I knew how it would end and it still twisted my heart out. I heard how good it was and pushed through and I’m so glad I did.

“The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue” made me feel a storm of emotions. And here you can see my thoughts about this book. Specifically, I'll give my opinion on Luc and Addy's relationship.
Addie lied to herself many times and she didn’t allow herself to be happy. She also convinced herself that her feelings for Luc weren't true love. She admits that she has made unrealistic promises to herself: "She will not linger in his arms. She will not fall asleep beside him. She will not feel anything but his lips on her skin, his hands tangled in hers, the weight of him against her. Small promises, but ones she does not keep. It is only sex. And then it is not."
I think her war is a waste of time, since they are not enemies for a long time, he doesn't need her soul and their feelings are mutual.
She can't prove that he’s not able to love. But she can hurt him (and herself, too). And Luc will be hurt precisely because he loves her. The first person to say "I remember," to Addie, was Luc:
"I remember, says the darkness in her ear."
"I remember, whispers the darkness, almost kindly, as if he's not the one who cursed her."
“And one night Addie wakes in the dark to the soft pressure of his fingertips drawing patterns on her skin, and she is struck by the look in his eyes. No, not the look. The knowing. It is the first time that she has woken up in bed with someone who hasn’t already forgotten her. The first time she’s heard her name again after the pause of sleep. The first time she hasn’t felt alone. And something in her splinters. Addie does not hate him anymore. Has not for a long time.”
Luc was always on Addie's mind, even while she was having sex with Henry:
"And then they are on the bed, and for an instant, only an instant, she is somewhere else, somewhen else, the darkness folding itself around her. A name whispered against bare skin. But to him she was Adeline, only Adeline. His Adeline. My Adeline."
Addie wouldn't be able to fool Luc because he's not some stupid kid:
"I am stronger than your god and older than your devil. I am the darkness between stars, and the roots beneath the earth. I am promise, and potential, and when it comes to playing games, I divine the rules, I set the pieces, and I choose when to play."
Addie is afraid to admit that she loves him. This will alienate her even more from people. Even though she hasn't been human for a long time. She says that Luc looks like a human, that he has warm hugs, but then insists that he is not human at all. She hears his racing heartbeat during their first kiss, and then claims there is silence in his chest. She says she's happy with him, but immediately echoes that it won't last. She doesn't believe Luc when he says the deal can be changed, but asks him to do so when she bargains for Henry's soul. But still we can see that Addie suffered every time she pushed him away and when they were apart.
But all is not lost, because sometimes Addie is honest with herself:
"Luc is the man she dreamed of when she was young, and then the one she hated most, and the one she loved, and Addie missed him every night that he was gone from her."
If you compare Luc and the image of a lover that Addie dreamed up in her youth, you will understand that with every decade, Luc is more and more like him.
I really wish Addie and Luc wouldn't try to antagonize or find each other's weaknesses, but just have a sincere conversation. Cause I think instead of playing push and pull, it’s better for them to be honest with each other. And in that case they may build a healthy relationship and live happily together.
And if there’s anybody who thinks the way that I do, I really recommend you to read "Until We Are One" by Veratrance, a fanfiction that could definitely become an amazing continuation of the book ❤ .

I get so exasperated when I see people say that Luc can't love, or that he, and Addie included, can't. Like... WTF ? It is literally said in the text that the fact that they are not human therefore implies that they do not love like humans. But that doesn't stop them from doing it. Thinking about it, a supernatural, non-human being can't love you're just taking Addie's wrongheaded point of view. A character who has this way of contradicting herself a lot until the last page of the book ! Is it so narrow-minded to think that in a universe where supernatural creatures exist, only humans can love sincerely ? WTF ? There are tons of stories about demons falling in love ! Why Luc (who is not even the literal devil, or even a kind of demon, that is Addie's point of view, but the text itself and Luc, simply designate him as an ancient god, of those that the we begin to pray at night, making Luc's true nature even more obscure and overcoming this idea that he would be purely incapable of loving, since the narration designates him and finally shows him / simply as a being with a nature that is probably cloudy and complex), suddenly, couldn't be part of it, when the text itself parallels the two points of view of Addie and Luc. Namely that a non-human cannot love. And that of Luc which simply says that the way of loving is different in a non-human being. Especially since I still remember that Addie says she loves several times in the book, even though she is no longer human. Once again she contradicts herself or always says that it is not the same as in the Luc case. But that's because she can't accept that she's no longer human. And I'm talking about loving in the romantic sense of the word and also platonic. Obviously a non-human being can love ! Just not in a human way. Literally just look at Addie and how she comes to like people / her internal reasoning. But to think that, because it is different from the way humans generally love, or our own perception of the feeling of love in a broader sense ; Luc (especially) and Addie are incapable of truly loving anything ? It's such a depressing and reductive vision in my opinion. Especially in such a complex story.

Lazy Saturday - Diluc Ragnvindr
Summary: after a long night, you wake up at noon next to your husband. Genre: fluff. Pairing: Diluc Ragnvindr x Reader (fem). Warnings: suggestive dialogue (Diluc brags about the night before), Diluc traumatises the maids talking about seggs with his wife (silly boi). Overall it's pretty cute. Reader's appearance is based on Lumine.
It was a warm day in Mondstadt, the sun was shining through the windows of the Dawn Winery. Diluc smiled, looking down at your sleeping form. You were so peaceful, you looked so beautiful while you were resting. He loved the way your soft blonde hair glistened in the morning light.
The grandfather clock in the centre of the house chimed. It was afternoon, but it was Saturday. The day could wait, there was no business to attend to, and you had been so exhausted last night that as soon as you both climbed into bed again you drifted off to sleep in his arms immediately.
Diluc made sure not to make any large movements as he crept out of the king bed, taking a shirt from the closet, draping it over his shoulders. It was too hot to button it up, it would just have to do. He went to he door of the room to make as little noise as possible, calling out in a raspy voice, “Adeline,” and the maid came running over, “yes, Master Diluc? Good morning, Master Diluc.”
Diluc smiled, “good morning. Well, good afternoon. Could you make a brunch meal for us? YN is sleeping but I’m sure she’d enjoy waking up to it. Oh, and could you run a bath too?” Adeline smiled, nodding, “of course, I’ll have one of the girls do it. Big day planned?”
Diluc smiled again, shaking his head, “oh, no, quite the opposite, I was thinking of a late breakfast in bed, then a bath for her, she’s had a long day yesterday. Something to soothe the muscles?”
Adeline clicked her fingers in excitement and nodded eagerly, “I’ve just the thing, Master Diluc. That new soap you bought from Liyue -”
“‘Luc,” spoke a soft voice. Diluc smiled, “good morning, love.” you rubbed your eyes, why wasn’t he in bed? His side was cold. “Come back,” the words tumbled from your lips drowsily, “please.” you whined softly. He chuckled, “alright, darling. I was just asking Adeline to make a brunch for us.”
“Brunch?!” you jolted up in bed. “But - today’s Saturday! I’ve got that outing with Jean and Kaeya and the others! What will they think when I didn’t show up?! -” but Diluc merely laughed, “don’t worry about that, love. I sent Jean a telegram last night saying not to expect you today morning.”
Your mouth dropped open in shock, “Diluc!” and he grinned, shrugging. At least you weren’t the only one shocked; Adeline had an almost comical expression on her face. She shook her head, laughing. “Master Diluc, you are scandalous. Lady Ragnvindr, I highly doubt you will have to worry about those other women anymore, you’ll be the talk of the town if I didn’t know Sir Kaeya and Miss Jean better.”
Your jaw was going to be permanently dropped for the rest of the day. You and the maids were great friends, and often told each other your secrets and fears, one of your fears being that most women in Mondstadt were still chasing after your husband. The maids teased you about it often, always reassuring you that you were all Diluc thought about, but this was the first time Diluc himself had heard of it, and your cheeks were red with embarrassment.
Diluc turned to you curiously,“other women?” raising an eyebrow. You covered your mouth with the blanket, “ahh, nothing!” Diluc pouted, crawling on the bed so his face was inches away from yours, “don’t tell me you’re worried about other women, my love. Well, I guess I’ll have to make sure how loud we are so that no other women look at me, hmm?”
You dove under the covers, “ahhh, Master Diluc! I can’t take any more!” Adeline shut the door loud and hurriedly and Diluc laughed rambunctiously. He jumped on you, hugging you and kissing your head. “I love you so much,” he sighed happily. “I love you too,” you kissed his nose before giggling, “although I think you should give the maids a raise, I think we’ve traumatised Adelaine for life.”
And Diluc chuckled loudly again, his laughter echoing throughout the room, so loud that it scared the pigeons that had been living on your windowsill that they flew away. “Ah, well,” he showered your face with kisses, “I was thinking of giving them a raise anyway. I felt bad after the past few weeks…” and you giggled, slapping his back, “you’re so bad, Master Diluc!”
He grinned at you mischievously, eyes twinkling. “Don’t call me that, my love. You know what it does to me.”

Nothing seemed to calm you. You refused to stop, anxiously looking through any book, letter, or strewn paper in hopes of getting just one clue. Diluc had been missing for just over a week with no notice, and it was too much to bear.
He’d left for another nighttime session despite your warnings and the horrible weather. The entirety of your situation-ship, one of your biggest worries was what his vigilante role would do to him. Regardless, when you heard news of him being returned to the manor, it seemed your legs couldn’t carry you fast enough.
You rushed into the shared bedroom where a servant was removing the torn jacket of your lover. He was standing, knuckles white from gripping a bedpost.
You couldn’t see much from this side, but was able to make out a thick caking of dried blood splattered across his coat.
“Adeline, you may leave us.”
The maid in the room nodded and quickly departed. Diluc sat down quietly; it was silent for a moment before walking around the bed to face him.
It took great restraint to keep back the gasp at your throat. His face was nicked and fresh blood was tricking down his forehead. Without the coat, you could see deep gashes that had torn up his top- littered across neck to the ends of his forearms.
He refused to meet your gaze, distressed that you had to see him like this.
“Luc..” you whispered softly. A gentle hand reached for yours; he lifted his head and dull, baggy eyes looked to you. “I thought I had control but the fatui, they…” he trailed off. “I wasn’t prepared.”
You shook your head. “Let’s not focus on that. Sit back, let me take care of you.”
He allowed you to take his shirt off, and you could now clearly see how bad the damage really was. The warrior already had numerous scars and burns, but the fresh gashes overlapped them and you knew it would be difficult to recover from. Turning to grab a towel, you wrung it with warm water and gently started running it down his chest.
Diluc winced as you ran the fabric over a particularly bloodied spot. It made your heart sting to see him like this, however this wasn’t the first time something like this had happened. Of course not to this extent, but worrying nonetheless. You wiped his chin and brought his face up to meet yours, placing a gentle kiss on his forehead and resting yours against his.
“I wish you would just prioritize your life even a little bit more,” you murmured just loud enough for him to hear.
“I will.”
You knew in your heart he was just agreeing to relieve your stress temporarily. No matter how much you begged otherwise, he would always be devoted to protecting Mondstadt even if it cost him his life.
Some nights you would stay up and wonder when a servant would burst in reporting his loss in a final battle. If he knew of this, he’d be sure to persuade your thoughts to more positive directions but the lingering horror would still remain. You set down the towel and grabbed the sharp needle resting beside it. Carefully and slowly, you began to suture the gashes across Diluc’s abdomen.
You understood how painful the procedure was but knew it had to be done, so you continued; trying not to pay attention to the yell attempting to escape his throat. In the end your worry won.
“Please, tell me to stop if it’s too much.” Diluc refused and you continued, finishing by wrapping cool bandages around the entirety of his torso.
His flickering eyes rested on you, beckoning you to move closer. A gravitational pull connected your lips to his, forgetting the situation and hungrily melting into him. A burst of energy ripped through him, seizing your draping tunic. You returned this, pressing against his hard chest until Diluc let out a pained groan. Pulling back revealed a streak of dark red on your palm. Gasping, “Fuck, ‘Luc I didn’t mean to-” He pulled you back. “It’s ok, doesn’t hurt that bad.”
Moving off the bed was a better idea, denying anything further in fear of opening another stitch. Helping him lay back into the comfort of your shared bed, you cleaned up the maroon stains over the bed covers and replaced them with fresh sheets. Slipping into bed, his arm found your waist, weakly pulling you to look down on him. This time he didn’t speak, only running a single hand through your hair; a faint glimmer returning to his eyes.
Softly and without sound, you laid a whisper of a kiss upon him, without blood this time. You were afraid any sudden movement would break him (or your resolve).
Night faded to black, your arm draped over the least injured part of his chest. Any remaining fire light from nearby candles died out, leaving only the feel of your lover’s rising and falling chest.
