For nearly 30 years Willis “Buster the Babe” Gardner ventured to Cooperstown, New York  annually for Baseball’s Hall of Fame Induction ceremony. Gardner, a tow truck driver and mechanic from Oberlinn  would done the pinstripes and move around Main Street, shaking hands, chatting and posing for snapshots.  Though he was impersonating basball’s greatest ambassador, Buster was the real deal. I visited Cooperstown every year for three decades for work and watched as he put smiles on thousands of faces. He loved it.  I asked him once why he did it, he told me “I just love these fans...just love ‘em”. Baseball fans loved him back.  On my last trip to Cooperstown I was sad to see these photographs memoriblila and card shops all along Main Street as a tribute to Willis Gardner. Rest easy Buster.  (1937-2021)

I love shooting #football, and I don’t get to do it nearly enough. It’s the #teamwork I love the most.... that you take a bunch of kids who only have one thing in common—love for the game, and turn them into a team. Also, for some reason yesterday #sexism towards #womensportsphotographers really ticked me off. Not sure what sparked it—I get stupid comments whenever I step on a football field and I laugh it off, but yesterday it bothered me. Maybe because there are so few of us out there, we have to push so hard against so many things in order to progress—like it’s hard enough without you joking about my “big lens.” Which isn’t even big smh. But I digress.
