y'all i had the honor and privilege to test out four of @tricoufamily's WIP hairs. Look how cute these are!! I was so excited to make sims based on the hairs and i spent a lot of time making outfits that represented their unique style!

Hey! I hope you are doing well! How do you deal with perfectionism? Especially when you were still learning how to edited and take photos?

skjdsj um..... tbh... i don’t deal 😌 idk i go through phases where i’m like “this is just sims!! who cares what my stuff looks like as long as i’m having fun!” (that’s the ideal mood lmao) and then i go through periods (like right now rip..) where i’m like “this is absolute trash, nothing you do is good enough, what’s the point of sharing it with the world if you’re not even happy with it” so.... :-( if anything, the more new things i learn and the more people who see my stuff, the more pressure i feel to always be better & better & BETTER than before. otherwise i feel like “why am i even doing this if i’m not improving?” and that makes me feel even more uncreative and unhappy, so it’s a shitty cycle :( but i do this irl too (especially with school) and with my “regular” writing. so i try to remember that this is just my brain trying to nerf me lmao, it’s not reality!

everything that brings you enjoyment or fulfillment or a sense of purpose is always worth doing. you don’t have to be the most talented, you don’t need to be constantly productive or learning new things, you don’t need to recieve the most recognition and interaction. i write because i have to write, because without it i feel like an empty shell. i’ve never tried to be the best author, i’ve never tried to be an author at all -- so it’s unrealistic to put all these expectations on myself to be “the best”.. whatever that means lmao. i’m trying to get back to a state where i can just be myself, and be happy with my content again, regardless of what other people think about it. it’s hard when i percieve everyone else as better than me, showing more improvement than me, etc. but no one’s growth is ever comparable to someone else’s. when i get really into my own head, i try not to scroll through my dash as often. if i ever find myself looking at a post on my dash and thinking “this is so good, i could never do something like this”, that’s my cue to stop for the day. instead, i try to look at other people’s posts and think “i really love how they did ___, i wonder if i can experiment with that technique,” etc.

also?? this is cheesy but it works. whenever i feel horrible about my stuff, i open up one of my favorite posts and i point out all the things i love about it. it feels conceited at first, but sometimes you have to gas yourself up tbh!! there’s always something nice you can say about your own work, and it’ll make you feel SO much better than looking at it and thinking about all of its flaws. so yeah i hope something in this incoherant ramble will strike a chord with you sjdskj just try to be yourself, even when it’s difficult 💖

Looking through my pictures, I don’t seem to really take that many of individual Sims!

The first picture is a random King and Queen I made for a small photoset over at Plumb Bob Keep back in 2012.  I think I was playing on a Windows XP Laptop, and used a copper action on all my photos.  I would still use it today if it was compatible with my current version of Photoshop.  I loved it.

The second photo is my Ealdorman and his daughter, Merewenna, from my current MCC, snapped a few days ago.  Merewenna is possibly one of my favourite Sims ever.

Since I don’t have any current Sims in TS3 that I’ve used in other games, I figured I’d use house pictures instead, since I’ve made the same house in every one of the first 3 games. The first picture above is from 2014 when I made the house in TS2 for the Nightingales, and the second picture is from either this year or last year when I remade it for the Moonracers. Technically, the first version of this house was in 2013 when I first started playing TS3, but I don’t have any proper external photos of it. In another comparison:

The first photo in the second set here is from the very first incarnation in 2013 (and also features Sims from the very first Moonracer family, which is in no way related to the current family), and the second photo is from the most recent version, from either 2018 or 2019. Same room, same house layout, very different decorating style. It’s really interesting to look back on things like this and see how much progress and change you’ve gone through. I wish I could have compared some Sims as well, but c’est la vie.

hello ! I’m inspired by seeing sim stories around me and I want to join the fun! But, the issue is, I’m busy. I go to work, school, I dance... it’s a lot. I’m always busy and Idk if it’s possible to start up a story. BUT I SO WANT TO. Do you think posting characters and stories requires lots of attention? I just want to meet other players like me and create a world where people can participate and enjoy. Should I maybe take a different route to meet others? Or would a story really help? thanks!!

I think that posting characters and stories only requires the amount of attention that you want to give them. i mean, that’s a lame answer but lol--i guess it depends on the type of story you want to tell that will dictate your “work” hours. maybe start small (like me: bad dialogue and minimal editing XD) and if you find more time/get really into it then go big?

i think that starting a story is a great way to meet others! i mean, i started a cult in like, record time bc of vic so that’s gotta count for something (+i got a whole lot of normal interaction through it too) lololol. but there’s always other options for meeting others if you can’t make a story: commenting on posts and reaching out to other simblrs that you like is probably the best way to make friends! (but, with all the recent drama, please stay safe uwu)

ultimately, don’t push yourself too hard to churn out something like.. lord of the rings in simlish if you don’t have the time, bc it’ll most likely stress you out even more. but if you really want to start a story then take it slow and see where it get you! (and run if it gets you a cult :D)

Hey! I have a question and I don't know if you can answer it but I feel like if anybody would know it would be you! I use the Plum Tree App to create family trees, but I wish there was a way to show the progression of a sim. A lot of the times I have photos from them being a kid to an adult, and I wish there was a way I could show that. Do you know of anything like that?

hey!! i don’t think there’s any way to do that :( except maybe you could make a gif? i don’t know if plumtreeapp supports gifs, but it might be worth a shot! 💖

Thank you  @withlovefromayre for tagging me. I chose a picture with Roe and Thorundur as children, spying on Thorundur’s brother Toraldor. They are from my story “Roe of the Forest people”. Roe is my favourite sim ever and I actually miss her now that the story is finished. The picture is from the chapter where Roe and Thorundur meets, and is from 2010. I think I still used the ingame camera for picture taking back then.

The second recent picture is Elvira Ekblad, a royal servant, celebrating midsummer. I chose this picture because today is midsummer and I will leave the computer to celebrate with midsummer pole, strawberries and of course herring.
